My friend and I came here for the first time yesterday and we had the most amazing experience! The food was delicious, we tried the fettuccine which was the special of the day, and our server who I believe is named Cartier was so attentive and helpful the whole night. Overall, we felt very welcome, the location was great and the food was incredible to match. Will be back!

All the dishes we tried were great! Duck liver pate is a greater starter, truly enjoyed the homemade squid ink pasta with fresh tiger prawns. Saffron pappardelle is delicious with blue swimmer crab. Best part is the dessert - their tiramisu is a must try, it’s one of the best in town!

The service was excellent. You can tell the team were well trained. Food is tasty. I’m happy to pay a bit extra but please don’t make portion sizes so small. 6 tortellini spread out on a plate is a bit ordinary for a main. We ended up skipping dessert.

Fantastic special occasion restaurant. The bar area is great also for a quick drink or arancini pre-cinemas. We enjoyed the entrees (duck liver pate and arancini), seafood special barramundi, prawn pasta, lamb ragu gnocchi, and veal cottoletta. I always order the gnocchi (winter menu regular) which comes with an extra pan of sauce and bread. The staff are very good and even went out of their way to give us extra toast for the pate and bring a scoop of salted caramel ice cream with a candle and sing happy birthday to our guest!

We spent a night and enjoyed our dinner banquet . Food were delicious and well presented as always. The only disappointment is the dessert. We ordered Tiramisu and expected to be a proper serve. However, staff came over and scooped a large spoon from a big bowl, and put onto our plate. I felt a bit unpleasant, especially it’s still COVID-19 now, and I don’t know when this big bowl of tiramisu was made. It was yum after all. I still give 5 star.

Such a nice experience. The place is beautiful and comfortable. We ordered as an entrance to share between 2 people, the octopus and arancinis. They were really good, probably the best arancinis I ever ate. Then we got gnocchis and saffron pappardelle, both incredible. I’ve never ate gnocchis like that, very tasty and creamy. We also had a dessert to end, the dark chocolate mousse, that was very tasty and very well presented. Staffs are very polite and friendly. They took care of us all the time. 100% RECOMMENDED

Lively Italian restaurant near the Lido Cinema in Hawthorn. The place has a vibrant atmosphere with music and young, friendly staff. The menu is creative. Each dish we ordered was delicious. The beer and wine list had a good selection of local and Italian varieties. Good place to enjoy good food with family and friends. Returned for a family celebration. I cannot speak more highly of the staff. The service was attentive and friendly and the care with those in our group with allergies was exemplary. Food of course was of a high standard. The pasta was al dente!!!

Couldn't get a table booking a few days ahead so rocked up on the day too try our luck. Got 4 seats at the bar with no wait at around 6pm. The pasta was truly delicious and authentic Italian. Thr gluten free gnocchi tasted like normal gnocchi! Cocktails were pricy at $18 for a small glass. Dessert flavours were well balanced, not too sweet. The lemon tart and tiramisu were our fave. I would definitely come back again.

We've been to Vaporeto 4 or 5 times now. It's always fantastic, the food, atmosphere and staff are all top notch. With an amazing bar attached you can also expect high quality cocktails with your meal at a reasonable price given the quality. We'll be back again for sure. If you're not local I recommended the hand made pastas which are excellent.

A foodie friend booked this place for our long due catch up and it turned out to be a perfect night! Service was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in. Oh and they let you book a table, which is so handy! Lovely Mim sat us down, introduced us to the specials and the special cocktail, god it was soooo amazing! Have a look at the photo, how did they even put hearts on the foam?? We decided to share the food. We ordered the scallop, arancini balls and calamari for entree. Main we had risotto and a flat noodle pasta (sorry! I don't know all their different names, pada sthsth). And do yourself a favour and order a side of chips! Its sensational lol I know they are just chips but they are not!!! Very full after those food and we ordered a tiramisu to share. This is not traditional tiramisu, whoever designed that dish should be called a genius! Not too sweet, not too bitter. It was Perfect! Finished our night in a great tone! LOVED every single bit of that night, would recommend this place to everyone!

The food and drinks are delicious, but the prices are horrid, if you want to be over charged for some pretty good food, come here. Left slightly hungry. Cocktails were pretty damn good, they are next level.

Very impressive Italian bistro with a Venetian theme. I had the risotto with moreton bay bugs and squid ink wafer. There’s only a couple of bits of bug but the dish itself is extremely good. Do love coming here and the only reason I didn’t give it five stars (wish I could give it 4.5) is the noise. The music is a tad loud and most people come here to chat, drink and eat. By in saying that, the playlist of music is exceptionally good - just a tad loud. This is something of a bar, place to eat and funky / quirky hangout. You can access from Glenferrie Road via the Lido Arcade or go to the rear and access from the car park. The food is great with a nice range of snacks and meals. Wine is good and can recommend the Pinot Noir. Whether you’re dining at the table or up at the bar it’s a great feel. Wheelchair friendly but tight. Kid friendly but really it is a bar. Parking is easy with a great car park that after 6pm is free. Most of all the staff are incredible. Fun, attentive and can mix a cocktail Iike no one else. Would highly recommend.

Not only was the food absolutely exquisite (as it is every time), but the service is beyond any! I needed some out of the ordinary assistance with the delivery service and the Vaporetto team went over and above what was ever expected to help me! On top of their help, they also knew it was a birthday and wrote a beautiful Birthday message on the delivery bag and added a single beautiful gold candle for the celebration! The delivery driver also wished us a happy birthday when he arrived! What a friendly and kind team they have! In terms of the food - I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! It's the kind of food that makes you close your eyes with enjoyment after every mouthful! If you don't try it, you're missing out!

It's insane how good the pasta tastes in this place. Hands down best pasta place in Melbourne, I had the squid ink pasta, the presentation was alright but once you start you cannot stop! The flavours complement each other well, I especially liked how they used chilli to bring out more of the flavour and a hint of lime to keep the 'seafood' based dish refreshing. Have to try the squid ink dish for once in your life. Definitely a YOLO moment. Can't go back once you have it.

They were doing set menus because of COVID restrictions but they still managed to fit me and partner in for wine, coffee and a snack before our movie. Great little Italian place! Always busy during the weekend dinner so please do book! The price is a little bit high but it's so worth it. I've been here a couple of times and the quality were very consistent! That's why we kept coming back. The waitresses were very friendly, however there's one waiter with the moustache was looking upset for some reason. I think it was just his bad day. But nevertheless, great food, great wine, and omg GREAT dessert and great time here!

Have been to this restaurant about 8 times for both lunch & dinner. Been warmly & pleasantly greeted every time. Menu is incredible & really spoilt for choice. Vaporetto is nestled into the shopping complex adjacent to the Swinburne University Hawthorn Campus. The fried fish cone was delicious, although the lack of a whole yolk in the tartare was disappointing. My pasta arrived undercooked, but the issue was promptly fixed by staff. Once our meal had finished, we waited for 40 minutes for a waiter to come so we could ask for the bill. Ended up having to go downstairs and flag somebody down. Unfortunate rating considering the food was actually very good. Edit 26/08: I revisited Vaporetto recently, and was treated to a warm host, friendly environment, and excellent food. Drinks were flavourful, the Wine List is extensive, and we all enjoyed a taste of Venice. After coming back here, I can strongly recommend Vaporetto for anyone looking for a relaxed fine dining experience, with a Menu up there with the best of them!

Ordered gnocchi with veal osso buco and it was delicious! Probably the best dish I’ve had from Vaporetto, it had really good flavour and was well balanced. Also ordered the tiramisu, again really good. Only take back was that it was a bit watery at the bottom as if the sponge held too much liquid and the honeycomb wasn’t crunchy so maybe it wasn’t made super fresh. The rum and espresso were really nice. Overall I really love Vaporetto as the food is always high quality with a lot of thought put into it. I would prefer a slightly bigger serving of pasta but I appreciate what they are doing. As a side note, many years ago they gave my friend and I free dessert they were trialling, because we were sitting at the bar facing the kitchen. It made a long lasting impression!

Vaporetto is by far my favourite place in Hawthorn (and in the top for Melbourne). The food and cocktails are sensational, having tried many things on the menu I've always enjoyed everything I've had. The vibe and style is excellent. But most of all the service is absolutely impeccable, unfaltering, helpful but not pushy and above and beyond. Recently the staff gave us a limoncello on the house for something teeny tiny we thought was hilarious but they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and taken care of. If you haven't been yet you are doing yourself a disservice!

We had the set menu dinner on a Thursday night and were very impressed with the whole experience. The speakeasy type vibes were an instant surprise and delight, and the overall ambience felt like we were in a funky venue on Flinders Lane, rather than leafy Hawthorn. Food was top notch, I had the fig insalada for entrees which was fresh and zinging with flavour. Main was the Moreton Bay Bug pasta, whilst the pasta was probably a little too "al dente" the flavours were rocking and melt in your mouth. Finished with the Tiramisu, super boozy but very decadent, rich and of course delicious. Will definitely be back!

New and interestingly themed venue that seems geared more towards dinner then casual drinks with friends or a date. Unfortunately for the price I found the menu fairly underwhelming. The dishes were appetizing and well cooked and presented, but safe and unadventurous, and never really surprised or delighted in a way that would justify the price point. Bookings encouraged, as there were a few times I would have to wait 15mins plus just to have a quick drink. Very handsome venue with an interesting look, but probably better once they find their feet a bit more. Staff could be a mixed bag of friendly and knowledgeable and clearly uninterested and wanting to go home.

What an absolute gem! My husband and I popped in for what we thought was a short night for a few cocktails at the bar and ended up staying a few hours because the atmosphere, service and quality were that good! Alex, the bartender, was so hospitable and really made us feel at home. Every drink was well thought out and perfectly executed. The crew here are so friendly. They mix the classics, daily inspired twists and everything in between. Whatever your taste they will have something to satisfy. This is the kind of place where you're as comfortable perched up on the bar chatting to the staff as you are with friends upstairs enjoying a meal. Nestled in the bustling restaurant precinct of Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn, it’s a busy and welcoming venue and full of people on a Sat evening. Arriving early we enjoyed some well made Negroni’s at the bar and then we’re shown to our table. An easy to navigate menu supplemented by daily specials, attentive and friendly team, good range of Italian and local wines, and really fantastic food!! The food is so expensive, if you're a serious foodie then I suppose it is a must... the only reason I give it 3 stars is because my Nanna loves the place. For the rest of us non-foodies, the flavour combinations can feel a bit alienating when reading the menu, and feel underwhelming when eaten. I was under the assumption that the crazy combination of flavours would produce more flavour than it did. I wouldn't say it's traditional Italian food. But it's got some Italian roots... For what it's worth I am slightly biased because I seriously hate anything that seems "hipster" so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Vaporetto's Father's Day special lunch was exactly as described. Our first challenge was what to choose from the menu - we could have selected each and every dish. Favourites were the roast pork and the steak - and all the desserts! Our table for 3 in the bar area was just perfect - quiet, a bit of a view out to the street (carpark :)) and still plenty of people watching opportunities. The high-backed stools were very comfortable.

It glowed a burnt amber in her glass in the evening sun. ‘Me neither.’ ‘Yet, don’t you think,’ he was back in control, striding ahead. ‘This would be exactly what a wonderful, rustic and quaint Venetian bar would be?’ She nodded, lacquered fingernails clinking softly on the glass. Outside, she saw a mother hurry two squabbling children towards the swimming pool, obviously late for their swim classes. ‘Do you know what Vaporetta means?’ she asked abruptly. The boy was now throwing fits and his towel on the ground, crossing his arms indignantly. ‘Enlighten me,’ he smiled. ‘It’s the name of a popular ferry in Venice, gliding through the canals, bringing people to witness and appreciate the cultural and historical treasures of Venice.’ ‘That’s really -‘ ‘And as such,’ she gave her more demure smile. ‘I think we are on this selfsame ferry, except I’m heading one way, and you another.’ The confusion that crossed his face was delicious for the moment. ‘To put it simply, I’m swiping left here. Good evening Mr Smith, it was nice to know you.’ She picked up her drink and moved further into the bar; it was just a little too good for a bad date to dull her enjoyment. Nearby, another raucous round of laughter erupted from the corner.
