Absolute hidden gem spot! Came here for a midweek after work drink & snack and so impressed I subsequently booked my work Christmas dinner (Feed Me option!) & karaoke function in their new space upstairs! Delicious food, especially the wagyu rump was on point, we were well looked after with excellent service by their staff. Definitely going to return and highly recommend everyone to check out this place! 👌

What a fantastic gem tucked in a Melbourne lane way! Incredible food (highly recommend the feed me option), delicious cocktails and the perfect ambience for a date night, girls night or work dinner. Bonus - karaoke and bar upstairs to kick on after dinner. We will back again soon!

Take a seat, uncle Bryce is going to tell you a story of the time he went to Yum Sing House.
This is not the kind of place to take your grandauntie Mary for dinner you haven't seen since 3 years ago, it's too loud, and too ang mo for her. It has classic Malaysian/Singaporean roots with Aussie vibes, almost like how your uncle Bryce set himself up here, a bit atas. This is the place for you to take your significant other to, especially since you've not treated them to something special in a long time. I came with your auntie Feli for a Valentine's date.
Feb 2022: you'll be having 3 menu sets to choose from. One fishy (68pp), one normal (68pp) and one vego (65pp). I took the normal one, think most would too.
The starter was pleasant, Fried Enoki, Snow Fungus and some other things that blended quite well on your tongue. There was something special in the sauce, ginger, very subtle, very artful... eh you know ah, their bbq mushroom in this dish damn good! Reminds me how your auntie Feli's family always made Tong Sui for me. Aiya, I digress (5/5)
Next is the wonton. It was very... Okay. It's a pity cause the wontons you can tell, they were made special. They didn't chuck some random frozen one. But, the sauce, the very clever chili sauce mixed with peanut sauce (you think uncle Bryce cannot tell ah), it was too strong la. Cannot taste the subtle tastes of the wonton. But still, can tell got a lot of effort.(4/5)
Together with the wonton came the buttermilk chicken. Don't be fooled, this is aussie buttermilk chicken, not your uncle Bryce's favourite Malaysian buttermilk chicken. It was.. okay. Seasoning a bit too salty, really too salty. Can't say I could taste the Yuzu in the sauce cause it was too salty. But I did like it was chicken ribs instead of wings, much easier to eat. (2/5)
Fun fact: it's called Yum Sing house, because there's a karaoke upstairs! Not that they cannot spell Yum Seng. No idea how to enter though, your uncle tried knocking on the door but no one there. Must be excluuusive KTV 🤫
Here, our cocktails came in, we got an espresso martini (supposed to be double happiness but no wisk working that day) Kung Fu pandan and incidentally, the Pandan mocktail. They were okay, didn't blow your uncle Bryce away. Pandan drink look pretty in pictures though. (1/5)
Ah here was a much nicer part, the beef steak and salad. The steak visually didn't impress me, but wah, it was pretty good! HO JIAK~ I think this joint's strong point is bbq, seeing how the bbq mushroom and this turned out so well too, they must have some bbq shifu! I'd be interested to taste their char siu if they ever make it. Very delicious with the spring onion and oil. With a surprise bowl of white rice for each of us too. (5/5) The salad was, an attempt, we were happy Yao Mak (cos lettuce) was used and there was a hint of seasame oil (can tell they want to preserve roots, just like your uncle) but there was too much dressing to allow us to enjoy it. The Yao Mak was drowning in tangy seasame sauce (1/5)
And to finish off, the dessert. Unassuming pastry that kept a delicious salted egg yolk centre! Marvelous! The temperature is perfectly warm and didn't do the usual tongue burn like most salted egg yolks dishes do. It was so nice in fact, we vacuumed it up in a blink of an eye. (5/5)
Extra comments: Service was okay, not always approachable, but when they do attend to you, you feel like million bucks. Also, couldn't tell how/where to pay, think they'll benefit from using Mr Yum if this is their style.
Beautiful decor, expensive projectors, Dyson hand dryers. Uncle Bryce like your style. Pity place isn't big enough to make your taste shine. <-- if boss ever read this, consider sound dampeners for the walls/bar. No one would want to come in when it's a full house because the sound reflects off the concrete too sharply. Today only 1/3 full and uncle Bryce's ears want to drop off already.
Extra extra extra: wah got HONG BAO from eating here ah, okay la, ZHOK LEI - SUN TAI GIN HONG, SAANG YI HENG LONG, BO BO GOU SENG!

This place is a must visit with friends or family. The service is impeccable and they cater to your needs and requirements - dietary. The food was fresh and well made, you can really taste the flavour of each dish. We ordered the Luxxe Feed Me Menu $79 and it was worth it!

From lusting over your Instagram game over lockdown to finally coming in for the dine in and karaoke experience it has lived up to all my expectations and more.
Love the restaurant's decor and projections of 'Raised the Red Lantern' over dinner and the food itself was simply divine, amazing flavours on old school dishes with a modern take.
Following up dinner with the karaoke session took the night to the next level. The Pandan shots poured on arrival gave us the confidence to take it away on the mic.
A one stop shop for a good night's out!

Love the food and the atmosphere at Yum Sing house! Food was very tasty and good value. The wagyu beef, prawn toast, and XO fried rice is to die for. Staff here are very attentive. The karaoke rooms upstairs are also very clean and the system is easy to use. Friendly bar tenders. Highly recommend this spot for a fun night!

Just have a try on this newly opened westernised Hong Kong style restaurant. Dishes were nice especially the Typhoon Shelter style King Prawns and the crispy pig ears! But there were a few were out of stock on the menu including the Wagyu. Surprisingly they have some special cocktails which worth a try!

Fantastic vibe... food was on point. King Fish, prawn toast, King prawns, were the stand out but I can't go past the truffle sui ma, IT WAS SOOO GOOD! Lastly we enjoyed the milk tea trifle for dessert... YUM!
Our group of 6 enjoyed cocktails coupled with the well trained staff made it a very pleasant night out.

Been three times since it opened, each time the food has slightly gotten better in taste. Keen to go back again once covid allows! Prawn toast and chu pastry are a must! The pandan cocktail is the best on the menu easily!

Food is delicious! Well balanced dishes with modern Cantonese flavours that don’t leave you feeling heavy like a typical Chinese restaurant. Everything in this place reminds me of my trip to Hong Kong from the interiors, to the food and the clever cocktails. Favourite dishes would be the steak, prawn toast and the milk tea trifle. Already booked my next visit! Can’t wait to get together with my friends for some karaoke upstairs!!

Delicious food & presentation. Upstairs bar is great, but the surprise is how many (almost) hidden Karaoke rooms there and the sound insulation is amazing! Room are very premium and plush

Celebrated my birthday here, we ordered the 'feed me' menu, it's perfect for big groups! Great atmosphere and overall vibe. Super friendly and helpful staff. So many varieties of cocktails, beer, wine etc. I particularly enjoyed the prawn toast and the wagyu rump was the star of the show! It was packed with flavour and the meat was tender and juicy! Will definitely come back for more!

We usually celebrate family celebrations at home and mum is often the cook who labours over the food that draws the family together. It was a nice change to treat mum and experience something a little different for her birthday and have the chef and friendly staff at @yumsinghouse do all the work and serve a memorable dining experience.
The stand out dishes were the Prawn Toast, Raw Fish, Silken Tofu and Tasmanian Wagyu Rump. The other treats were the mocktails and desserts, especially the Choux Ou Craqueline!
Mum gave it 5 stars and she is hard to please.

Yumsing House's modern twist on the classic dish, prawn on toast, was a totally unexpected surprise. Definitely the winner of the night. We will be back

The charsiu was absolutely mindblowing, definitely my favourite dish of the night. It was finished off with a delicious salted eggyolk pastry. The entire meal was incredibly well thought out and goes really well! Only drawback was the salad being too too sour.
The service was great and the decor was nice, though it can get quite noisy inside.
