Balmy summer sunday evening, sitting out the front of the restaurant and enjoying the sounds of the river. Enjoyed a beautiful tray of 8 different flavours of vegetarian indian goodness. The dessert topped it off with a lovely not too sweet flavour of India. And great value for money.

Amazing venue, and delicious vegetarian/vegan food. They do a daily ritual for the sunset which was absolutely mesmerising. Highly recommend!

Fantastic location, overlooking the Swan River. Located at Elizabeth Quay. The meals are outstanding, and you pay what you feel it's worth. Very friendly staff, and they also run different types of cooking classes, throughout the year.

This was a lovely meal which was a great price, included much variety, the staff were friendly and the service was super quick :)
It was great to be able to try so many different dishes. Even though the bowls are little, you still feel very full by the end!
Would recommend!

Annalakshmi on the Swan feels like the name of a ballet. But swept away by the dance you will not be, unless the dance is the excellent spices added to each dish. I heard about this place because I was both excited and fascinated by the “give as you feel” advertisement. But when I made it to this place recently I found that it is NO LONGER a “pay as you feel” place. It is however $15 a person for an endless amount of delicious fare. I brought a friend and look forward to bringing all my friends to enjoy this darling restaurant. The selection was superb, the flavouring ideal and the service kind. They ask you when you arrive what kind of meal you’d like, it’s all vegetarian and delicious. But they are ready to be asked for vegan, gluten free, dairy free etc when selecting your kind of meal. Then they bring you a platter of little dishes of curries, soup, dessert, salad and rices. With a pile of naan and papadam in the centre. Then they come back later to ask if you’d like more of anything. They offer a tea as apart of the main price and a mango lassi for an extra $5. The thing I’d say is the food takes a while to come and they service though kind is slow because it’s run by volunteers and not many of them seemed to be very trained in hospitality. Though they were all kind and helpful. All in all I’ll be back as often as I can. The view of the river was charming and so refreshing. Well done!!!!

Well priced. Great feed for the low price very filling. Good flavours.
Staff were all friendly, efficient and helpful. Excellent service.
Great views of river/South Perth.
Access for mobility impaired with lift.
Parking is limited and pay what else would you expect in the city.
S. L.
Nice service , friendly staff and the food very good ,$20 for many meal and the dessert very yummy and the location very pretty

Fantastic vegan platter. Friendly, ethical, brilliant food, and loving service

An absolutely noble cause is what this place is run for.
The food at Annalakshmi is phenomenal. The fact that they have a tagline "Eat to your heart's content and pay what your heart feels" is such a soul touching idea.
The location where it is at is simply unquestionable. Right behind the Bell tower on the banks of the Swan River in the heart of Perth, providing quality food with great respect and dignity.
Please donate as much as you can, actually after eating this food, you will not want to walk out without paying more than what you got.
I strongly suggest you get to this place for either lunch or dinner if you are in Perth. They are open all 7 days of the week.
Help them help the world! Enjoy your visit to Annalakshmi. :)

Great place to eat Indian Thali. Staffs and locations are awesome
Y. G.
The food was okay. It was more about the experience than the food. It is inspiring to see how this restaurant is run by volunteers. Be prepared that you will be eating with some of the homeless. I will admit that I didn't feel most at ease at first because this is not a typical setting but I'm glad a place like this exists, out of the goodwill of people and you contribute what you are able to. Nothing to worry about, people just there to have a hot meal with comfy chairs.
I liked the vegetable curry and the spicy soup. Saw a few dolphins from the balcony too.
S. L.
Very polite and welcoming staff and management. Food was amazing, brilliant view of Skyworks from their balcony on Australia Day
N.
Great place on the river offering authentic, traditional vegetarian indian food as a buffet style. Cooked by lovely families. Amazing food. Very relaxing and accepting atmosphere.
Usually a rice, chickpea curry, vegetable curry on offer with a small indian pudding for dessert.
The food is delicious and it's just a nice place to eat. They also offer cooking classes during the week.
V.
Amazing “pay as you feel” restaurant. Great indian vegetarian food, friendly staff, amazing deserts and great location and seating next to the river with a good view! It's a must to visit this place while you're in Perth. Great ambience!
L. A.
This place is absolutely amazing, the people who work here are happy and helpful.
The food is top class and the view is out of this world.
I highly recommend you give this place a try.
Hands down the best place I have been to in Perth!
Give it a go people, you won’t be disappointed 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Super fast service. The staff were lovely and the food was so delicious!! Very flavoursome and excellent variety
D. M.
Best little gem in Perth! All you can eat vegetarian buffet and pay as you wish. Delightful. Food was awesome and sunset view was amazing!
R. T.
Been there once in 2017, great Indian food, great people, at a very little cost. Great place indeed.
C. J.
Fantastic lunch with my Indian girlfriend here ☺️. Food was delicious and well priced. Staff was friendly and the view of the river was great.
Will definitely come again!
L. F.
Nice place ... Eat until you are happy and give what your soul says .. A charity organization helping in feeding the poor
J. N.
Excellent home prepared type vegetarian food. Staff work voluntarily. Great cause.
E. W.
For me it's the best vegetarian Indian food, where is the location in the Elizabeth Quay but they didnt ask for minimum payment, so you can pay whatever you like. Becoz they are nice for me so I paid them more than usually I can afford in fancy restaurants near Elizabeth Quay. Keep it up for the owner and staffs, you already do good for the people who eat there. it's so hard found a restaurant exactly like this, with beautiful scenery and the best location in this Perth City.
S. K.
The food is simple but tastes amazing. Their mango lassi is refreshing. The staff is always welcoming.
N. A.
The tag line PAY U TO FEEL very suitable for Annalakshmi.very tasty food nd good location in front of bell tower 🗼.dosa nd idli.
A. T.
Always love this place. Excellent South Indian vegetarian food in a beautiful location by the swan river with great views. Eat as much as you want and pay as you wish as the proceeds go towards a noble cause of feeding the poor.
i. m.
Food for cause. Love the idea of feeding everyone. They only ask for your donation so if you can, donate! And the Indian food is good, many Indian peeps eat here. Go and support them, you won't be disappointed.
R. S.
I’ve been eating here since I was quite young. This restaurant is my favourite out of every one I’ve been to, not only because the food is made with love and tastes divine but because of the excellent service and kind way in which the staff have assisted us to meet our needs over time.
Not only this, but the cause you will be paying for is unique and very noble.
Would 100% recommend!
V.
One of the best experiences I had in my holidays down under. I'm brazilian but in 2010 I spent three weeks in Australia and I remember only few places I have a good meal but definitely this one was the most remarkable. Thanks for being so kind. Thanks for everything.
P. S.
In this day and age of so many negatives, shrug them all off and come down to enjoy a vegetarian feast where you pay what you will, and from the heart.
Surrounded by images of the gods and goddesses, be humbled by the fare that is on offer, for it is good and wholesome and very tasty indeed. These people give up all their time and skill to provide for those that have not, so that all may eat. If you have the time and you have the coin, experience the love and joy of the most beautiful venue on the Perth waterfront and give what you can to make sure this amazing place continues on.
K. S.
Friendly place where you pay what you think the meal is worth (they take card). Food was extremely tasty and you helped yourself. Tea, coffee and cumin water available and pudding.
I.
Good food and always feel very welcome here. Nice views out over the river. It's a regular place we eat in Perth and always an enjoyable experience
J. D.
Was lovely, had a good time. Well priced and good food. Not fancy but that’s all good.
S. G.
Authentic Indian food buffet. Restaurant run by a non profitable charity trust. Impressed by their motive.
J. A.
Awesome place to have lunch...better than I expected. Staff are very nice and polite...
A. W.
Great meals, made with love and skill. Great prices as well.
s. d.
Excellent food and amazing location. Must try delicious food.
L. B.
Excellent service and affordable delicious food. Volunteer run, with a wonderful concept of your patronage helping to support meals for the less fortunate. Lovely sense of community and great views of the river. I recommend the mango lassi!
J. V.
The food at Annalakshmi was fresh, full of flavour and authentic. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. My family and I can't wait to go back! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!
E. W.
Wow, delicious food (help your self style), fantastic position on the edge of the Swan River. All for a donation...please give generously!
S. S.
The real taste of Indian food. You can find the really wonderful people here. Really awesome.
J. H.
It’s an awesome concept and amazing that you pay what you can. It’s definitely not the best food but certainly worth the $10 I paid!
G.
Only $15 vegetarian menu. Everyone gets the same food, which was very good. Having one more naan would be better and some sauce to go with it (even having garlic naan would be good too).
It is a very humble place, nice view!
M. K.
Tasty vegetarian meal 👌😋🙂
S. N.
Incredibly lovely place to eat. The staff are always kind and friendly. This is a place you feel welcome.
A big part of that may be how much Annalakshmi contributes to the community and our fellow man.
I like to pay double, knowing my contribution will go towards feeding those who may not be able to afford to feed themselves.
The food is always delicious as well, an excellent bonus!
R. J.
Cannot ask for better vegetarian food in Perth than what they serve. Very South Asian flavours. Most of the ingredients and vegetables they use are locally grown, low cost, fresh and cooked deliciously.
a. r.
Met some friends here for an early dinner and was absolutely delighted with the experience. The staff are very friendly and the food so tasty and filling. I really enjoyed trying different food to what I would usually order and the mango lassi is a must. it was very nice everyone should go to annalakshmi on the swan 5 stars
P. S.
It has a lovely feel. Nice people around. Noble venture. Due to COVID, they have started charging a very nominal fee of 15$ for a meal. I would like to request the management to reintroduce the Dosa to the menu, since it makes the overall experience enjoyable.
R. K.
They are doing a very noble work.. you have to simply donate them after you have your buffet meal.. and trust me..the food is very good!! Keep helping!!
R. S.
Awesome place...
Doing the best ever and humble work....
Loved it..
Salute them
D.
Wonderful place, the staff is full of smiles. Had a great time there.
K. L.
Love the location. Service was excellent and food was delicious and could easily convert me to being a vegetarian. Mango lassi was tops for a v reasonable extra cost of $5. Tahli meal itself extremely inexpensive considering the amount of food served and additional small serves requested provided at no extra cost. Concept of tahli meal prevenrs wastage which is another plus .
A truly great dining experience in a lovely setting overlooking the Swan.
Will definitely come back again and again.
K.
A simple philosophy and good will. Has brought forth amazing food and I sincerly hope that people who can pay- will.
H. M.
I have probably been here four times, and each time the food was great and the experience wonderful. As a backpacker I did not have a lot of money to spend, so it was nice to find a place where you can leave a donation. It`s great that there are places like this where people with less money can still enjoy a good meal out. I have seen very generous people giving to donation but also people who left nothing but a few cents. Whatever it is, the people are not judged for what they have, and the staff working there are very lovely. Thank you for a wonderful experience and delicious heart warming food.
P. F.
Authentic, delicious Indian food. Prepared and served by dedicated volunteers and tonight, being a Mela we also had excellent dance. Best value for money
P. C.
We came here for a farewell work lunch. The food was beautiful. Set lunch menu, vegetarian, $15. Excellent service from the friendly staff who I understand are all volunteers with the proceed going to charity. Beautiful spot too, upstairs right on the river. Highly recommend.
P. K.
Great vegetarian food for low prices. All you can eat and pay what you want
K. W.
We just found it by chance and saw so many people waiting to get in. Superb food, you pay what you think it was worth. We appreciated how kind they were, just giving high quality food to everyone. To people in need as well as to people who can afford a restaurant. Great attitude great food! Will definitely come again and with the money you find appropriate you can help so many people who need their support. Very clean restaurant tasty food!
L. B.
Annalakshmi is one of the best places in Perth. Great food, great people, and a great feeling knowing that your money is going to a good cause. Annalakshmi now has a minimum price to pay of $10 however, as I'm sure many will agree, the value of the meal is way above that.
A. S.
Food for good cause!! I see lots of homeless people come and eat here. They don't charge you for anything,You have to donate as per your wish. Excellent view of Swan River and yummy food. Buffet option available here with Varieties of Indian dishes. Really appreciate their Nobel work.
G. M.
Beautiful food, lovely staff and an amaxing story. Thank you so much!
A. S.
This Indian Restaurant has perhaps the best views. Located in the heart of the city close to the iconic Bell tower and Elizabeth Quay. The staff is calm, humble and polite. The self service food is of good quality. However the restaurant may need a bit of a facelift. i noticed the roof looked a bit dusty with cobwebs. The downstairs kitchen fly screen door is torn. The kitchen may need a bit of renovation done. including the outside decking facing the river. otherwise a good experience.
I. C.
We popped into Annalakshmi the other week having not visited in a long time and were so thrilled to rediscover this gem!
The set thali was a wonderful way to explore a range of flavours without the classic conundrum of overloading your buffet plate.
The front of house staff are an absolutely unparalleled delight, and we’ve been talking about them ever since. Special bonus points to the young man who came to explain how to navigate the thali correctly!
B. W.
Went there for lunch today. Every dish on that Thali was delicious.
Layers upon layers of flavour, perfect heat, enough to make your mouth tingle qithout melting your teeth. I was so impressed that staff are volunteers so delighfully friendly, the profits go to charity. I fact I can't wait to go back.
J. M.
OMG, only sorry that I can't give more than 5/5. Absolutely delicious, as if that wasn't enough the staff are lovely, the atmosphere is great and the view is awesome. My new favorite restaurant, so happy :-)
L. J.
This place is AMAZING! The food is slightly bland but that's expected for a service like this. They never ask or even expect a donation (I couldn't give one for now) but they appreciate them and I will when I get paid.
The service is amazing and this way of eating should be everywhere. I highly commend this place.
E. J.
Awesome delicious food made with passion and love - absolutely amazing presentation, fantastic taste, great explanation of what was on the plate, beautiful settings and ambience. Will definable go back for a dinner. Just outstanding venue, great views to the swan river, a fab bar and friendly staff. Lots of colour on the plate and gorgeous aromas. A must restaurant to visit.
C. M.
Beautiful food. Warm and friendly people. An opportunity to Pay as you Feel. Simple, clean, kind. Stunning waterfront views without the expensive price tag. One of our favourites. Take whatever you feel you can eat, just don't waste.
G. C.
Great atmosphere, beautiful views. I loved the food. Fresh simple and delicious. I wanted to stay longer, however, due to the crowd, felt bad making someone else wait to eat. You pay as your heart feels.. Given they feed the homeless and poor for either nothing or very little, it is certainly worth paying what you would in a normal restaurant even though it is not expected.
O. D.
Our food was amazing and so was the service.
Vegan friends had recommended this place and we weren’t disappointed. Can’t wait to return.
C. M.
I always review based on "what would I expect for the money I'm paying". But since the recommended donation for the food is $15 (last time I checked) and you can pay as little or as much as you want, if you're unhappy, get up, give them whatever you are happy with and walk out.
That said I found the food delicious, with a good range of vegetarian dishes and a range of spicing with something for any level of heat. The view is fantastic looking out over the river from the deck. the volunteers were perfectly pleasant and helpful.
J. A.
We love Annalakshmi on the Swan and its concept!
"Where vegetarian dining is a cultural experience"...
It is all about love and donations!
Staff is volunteering and they are really welcoming.
So, it is a self service buffet, the food is indian and delicious (I really love Dahl). The main is vegan and the dessert may contain dairy...
The location on Elisabeth Quay is just amazing!
The dining area is pretty big and you have a few tables outside, view on the river!
P. D.
I've been here quite a few times, and it has never been a disappointment. Annalaklashmi is the easily the best vegetarian restaurant in Perth.
It's an all you can eat buffet at whatever price you can afford! Yes really! There is no set price.
Annalaklashmi is a charitable institution as well as a top class restaurant, so people who are down on their luck can still afford a top dining experience. Donations are welcome.
The food is genuine Indian cuisine, the decor is warm and inviting. You can choose to eat outside on the veranda overlooking our beautiful Swan River.
Situated on the number 4 jetty at Elizabeth Quay this place has everything so stop wasting time reading this review and head straight down there. You won't be disappointed.👍
F. R.
Amazing and cheap Indian food. One of my fav restaurant in Perth !
N. P.
I love it there, the food is fantastic, the view is lovely, and it's a good place to go with big groups of friends. I have also hired them to cater two different conferences, they do food packs and deliver, and pulled out all the stops to make the catering exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely work with them again. I would recommend the place for strapped for cash students that need a good feed. Lovely staff and lovely food :)
L.
The food here is absolutely delicious. Service here is unquestionable, the waiters and waitresses are always attentive and do not get angry when I want service. There is a wide variety of options available on the menu and all of them are succulent. I was referred to this restaurant by a friend and I’m glad I came. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a delicious meal.
M. N. (.
It's an awesome Indian buffet restaurant 🙏
C. L.
Always beautiful food and lovely people in the best location.
s. s.
Beautiful place to be intune with melodious music and homely service. Reminds us of our motherland. Annalakshmi has always showered love on me and my family, the day we stepped first in Perth. Take away and dinning are open. King size tasty thali with excellent service at a very affordable price. One should surely visit🙏.
R. R.
Nice location with a view of river, decent buffet. Though their USP is pay what you like, they seem to expect you to pay more. I paid recommended $15. They do not produce proper printed bill.. if you expect everyone to pay you should provide proper receipt too.. right? Food was tasty and serving staff polite.
K. T. -. P. W.
Buffet style dining place where you eat as much as you want and pay as much as you want. The idea is that food is available for everyone and some will pay more to subsidise others who don't have much to pay. This place has been operating for a very long time now and wouldn't be possible without all the lovely volunteers. The food is all vegetarian ans isn't too bad if you like Indian food.
M. M.
Decent portions, vegan mango lassi is fantastic. Food is colourful and tasty, cooked with love and passion.
A. S.
Good food. They do their best considering it’s a pay as you feel Place. It resembles home cooked Indian food and not the stuff you eat at restaurants. So very satisfying if you’re craving Indian food.
K. E.
Not my usual pleasurable experience because it was way too crowded for me last night. I have a broken wrist and wearing a cast but felt quite vulnerable with so many people bustling around the restaurant and very close to my table. The queue extended back past the lift and all the way to the end of the balcony with a continuous influx of patrons for most of the night. Food was pretty good and I always appreciate the generosity of the volunteers.
A. P.
Great place for some very nice Indian vegetarian food. This place is entirely run by volunteers and you are encouraged to pay what you can afford on exiting. It is a buffet style eating hall with long communal tables. There are about 7 or 8 vegetarian foods such as rice, curry potato and Dahl to choose from.
View over looks the Swan River. I really love this place. The staff are very warm and friendly. The premise here is that anyone from any walk of life is entitled to a nice healthy meal and should pay only what he or she can afford to pay.
There are desserts also and a coffee station.
J. A.
This venue is an amazing place for both location and food. I believe Annalakshmi Restaurant is run by volunteers and the menu is simple and smorgasbord. An all-you-can-eat buffet with a price based on your "Heart Feelings". Discovered this restaurant way back when it was originally located on Esplanade Terrace, Perth. 5 Stars
J. W.
Really enjoy the food here every time. Great cause. Please support them. Will be returning again. Wish it was all vegan every day. Annalakshmi, annam mean food and Lakshmi is Goddess. It's run under charity. U can eat as much you want and give some donation. It has a main meal( rice and bread), dessert, coffee, and tea. It's an Indian menu. A complete set. No want should go in hunger that's the concept. Annalakshmi Team Fantastic job. Salute to you guys and keep up the good work.
C. M.
This must be the friendliest place I've ever worked. Coworkers are great fun, and the owners really look after us. It's been wonderful to gain experience in the food industry too, considering how difficult it is to come by.
Unfortunately not everyone's standards are up to mine so sometimes jobs haven't been done (properly) when we start our shift, and a few things around the place need fixing/replacing etc.
For good honest food, though, Annalakshmi is the best.
R. M.
Best Vegetarian hotel in Perth, Australia. You can have unlimited meals here. Their Concept is "EAT TO YOUR HEART’S CONTENT AND PAY WHAT YOUR HEART FEELS". In my word it is truly humanitarian service. Because you can eat how much you want and can pay how much you want or can". Their menu consists of 8 to 9 items.
W. M.
The food here is far from your average Indian restaurant. Dish selection is limited, and they're all vegetarian. But every dish is delicious, and you will leave here feeling full and satisfied. The view from the balcony over looks the swan river and at night it's quite picturesque
Bonus 1... Almost everything on the menu is gluten free.
Bonus 2... You pay what you feel your meal is worth, or what you can afford.
R. W.
I have eaten here at least 3-4 times every year for the last ten years. I love this restaurant. It’s my favourite in Perth. The food is always the same set vegetarian menu, rice, pancakes, spicy soup, dahl, potato bhaji, cabbage salad, one variety of curry (eg. pumpkin or chickpea or eggplant) plus a spiced dessert (eg. rice pudding, sago or almond pudding). They also have water, juice, tea and coffee. The simplicity of the menu is one of its best features, you know what you’ll get and you know it’ll be good! I’ve brought many new people to this restaurant over the years and everybody is always impressed!
R. L.
Love the food and definitely good value for money. I went there last night and this tip is for the owners.
I saw two families eat and then skip out past the toilets without paying. I only noticed as that particular family jumped the queue in front of us after coming out of the elevator.
The restaurant owners are already generous with their philosophy and don't need cheap skates that CAN AFFORD TO PAY not paying just because they are scum. I would block that side off as you're losing money unnecessarily and then you can afford to help the homeless more.
Other than that, lovely location and a great ambience out on the balcony.
L. H.
I ordered 1 thali and a mango lassi the lassi was delicious i loved my thali it was spectacular i finished and paid my 20 dollars. there was two boys and a little boy serving . it was very nice everyone should go to annalakshmi on the swan 5 stars. Highly recommended.
P. R. (.
I used to come here frequently, very nice satisfying vegetarian Indian food, run by volunteers, with an incredible view. Come just before sunset if you can, get a table outside.
Edit 19/09/18 just went here again last night after a long hiatus. The food was nice but cold, and couldn't taste any spice at all. Also I got very bad stomach upset next morning, so I would say probably because the food was cold and not reheated properly. Please please check this for food safety!
N. B.
Buffet of deliciousness? Check!
That really smashing potato curry? Check!
Nice restaurant ambiance? Check!
Incredible views of the river? Check!
Pay what you feel for the good of others? Check!
Then Annalakshmi threw down the game changer: lunchbox delivery. Even on days when I can't get away from work, a smiling face arrives with a generous serve of their curry.
Thank you Annalakshmi!
A. K.
Clean and tidy. Delicious food, Serving size of Thali is perfect. Staff are very friendly. Loved it and would definitely go back.
S.
Nice place to visit with friends and family at a very attractive location. Food quality and quantity is quite good. Thali at 15 is well priced.
I. V.
Very polite people. Relaxing. The food is delicious. The hot soup is really good for you, I eat Annalakshmi every week and I am NEVER SICK. WAY BETTER THAN SEEING YOUR DOCTOR. Good work Annalakshmi 😀
S. G.
They provide wonderful and simple all you can eat Indian meal and pay what you like system. It is a place where homeless and addicts also eat due to the pay what you like or don't pay at all system. If you can bear those souls, then you won't be disappointed.
P. C.
Excellent food for a donation the mixed vegetable curry is yum my favourite and the donation for the food go to a good charities.Love the fact it is vegetarian. I believe it matches the spirit of altruism. Well cooked food + various & nutritive. Friendly staff :)
R. C.
You get what you pay for, or maybe it's best to say "you pay for what you get" as, of course, the price of the dining experience is in the 'mouth' of the beholder. I think this gives Annalakshmi a completely unique charm that leaves many with not only a full stomach, but also a general sense of virtue. Overall, the food really reflects all the greatest parts about Indian comfort food.
M. F.
I have never seen tasty south Asian food outside south Asia. And given it's location it attract so many people there is no need to cook actually tasty food. The food is not good. They need new cook. Just sprinkling Indian species doesn't make food Indian. There is an art to it.
J.
This place is amazing! Eat how much you want and pay as the heart feels... where else can you go in perth that let's you do that? Nowhere! Very friendly staff. Very yummy food. Can e on the spicy side but there is some mild choices. (I know it says pay as the heart feels, pay how you would like to be paid, be generous. Don't eat like a king and pay like a peasant. Thank you see you again soon.
K. K.
I've been coming here for years. Quality is consistent although some nights are better than others. Ive always had a good meal.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I'm very grateful a beautiful place like this exists.
It's recommended that people pay what they can afford to keep it going. Most assume that others do it so it's fine if they don't. What matters though is that people pay from the heart.
I. L.
The answer was an unequivocal, irrevocable yes. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. They believe in a concept that you will pay what you feel it was worth and that it is socially irresponsible to charge one blanket price for all levels of income.he inspiration behind it is taken from the name Annalakshmi itself; the Hindu Goddess of food. I recommend visiting their website and reading their mission statement - if only all restaurants had their attitude!
A.
Annalakshmi is just pure goodness. Delicious healthy vegetarian indian food prepared with love and kindness by volunteer staff. Eat as much as you need while enjoying a beautiful view of the Swan River then pay what you feel the meal was worth or what you can afford. So good in every way.
M. S.
Customer service with smile. Nice food served on your table. Awesome music , divine atmosphere. Thank you Anna Lakshmi team. Keep up the good work. 🙏🙏
M. P. B.
I ate a very nice new mixed curry, rice and narn dish, including a desert. Surrounded by scenic views of the Swan River, encapsulated in an ambient atmosphere of traditional Indian music and decore.
J. M.
Still would consider this the Best place for food anywhere in perth.
The food is always delicious and served with love.
This is a not for profit restaurant, but a pay by your hearts content.
If you're not looking to pay much and actually walk out feeling satisfied then this is the place.
EDIT: (To reply)
I'm glad you guys have been there the last 20 years of my life
K. W.
Such a peaceful atmosphere. A beautiful concept of respecting all the living beings. I have seen many homeless come and have their fill. Three cheers for people who volunteer. I think whomever has capacity ought to pay extra to support it. It would have been really nice if BYO alchohol is not allowed in the deck area to respect the divine atmosphere
D. C.
I love eating at Annalakshmi. Every time I'm in Perth I'll pop in for dinner. Great food, very friendly atmosphere, pay by donation. It's always got people in it, sometimes queuing to get in. I highly recommend.

Staff were lovely and informative. Various delcious curries to choose from. I am celiac and dairy free so it was great to have an inexpensive authentic Indian meal with a lovely atmosphere. Highly Recommend also will be supporting their community (:

I've been coming here for over 6 years and it is awesome! The food is clean (not fatty or processed), tasty and very satisfying. They often have really nice desserts too. There is no 'catch' which this restaurant - that staff, the price, the view, the location, the food, the atmosphere - it is all just perfect!
R. H.
I love Annalakshmi. Amazing vegan food in an incredible location. Its pay as you feel, so I always pay a bit extra because I know they provide meals to people who can't afford to pay. Lovely atmosphere.

Awesome Indian food at Perth. Full dill khush
S. L.
Delightful location for a relaxed and casual meal. You get to serve yourself and there is always an assortment of rice, curries, bread, veggies. I love sitting on the balcony and the pay what you feel is such a nice business model. Recommend!
A. M. M.
Nice staff , friendly and polite. The food is very tasty and the view of the river is amazing. It is really comforting to see that even in highly organised capitalist economies driven by profits and money there are some organisations that adhere to the humanist principles of welfare and betterment of society, putting the interest of others before their own.
p. T.
Everything was great except the reception counter. The person behind the counter makes faces when he gets a lesser amount eventhough the concept is pay what your heart says. Since this is charity, I think the reception should realize that different customers can afford different amounts, but not humiliate them by making faces.
C. H.
The food was pretty good considering you can pay with the change in your pocket. You have a choice of a few vegetarian options and water or tea. And the entire feung shui of the place just makes you feel at home. The ladies are lovely and everyone has one big happy, collective smile on their faces.
a. s.
If you're missing a Indian Thali with home food then you have come to right place, food is really delicious especially baingan sabji....And it comes at nominal price.
S. B.
Good vegetarian food, tastes yummy. They have lunch and dinner buffet with 2 varieties of rice, 4 varieties of veggies, rasam and snack item depending on the day. Wednesdays during cold months they offer poori bhaji as well. The staff and the people maintaining the restaurant were great, helpful, polite. They've space to sit out as well. They offer dessert n tea coffee as well. You can eat what you want and pay what you feel like. Really great to see such restaurants still flourishing with real annalakshmi attitude.
D. p.
Not enough food at $15 too much at $10 it would be good. Yes I left feeling hungry. And had to go and buy some more food. The quality of the food is very good. Jess too little and too much money.
M. D. K.
Beautifully prepared vegan food. Spicy but not chili!. Great views and payment for satisfaction received. Clean premises and friendly staff. One of my favourite eateries in Perth. Usually the first stop for my visitors.
G. J. G.
Let me explain: the cuisine is not so good, it's okay. But the place...that's great! Is unusual: long tables where people sit facing each other (you literally eat with strangers). Love this vibe. Mainly indians customers, but also curious tourists. At the end you'll chose the price, yeah you hear me, you chose. Usually people leave 10dollars, but you can give more or less, just feel free to give as much aa you think the cuisine (and the vibe!) deserve 😉
F. B.
So sad to watch so many with all the bling and latest phones etc walk out without paying... Or piling their plates to ridiculous and leaving several kilos of food on their table when they leave. Needs to be a minimum donation, and pay more if you feel you wish to... Unfortunately the greedy and selfish will always take advantage.
F. B. T.
This place is run by Volunteers, the food is also donated. You pay what you can afford to pay, so you set the price on how good you think the food is. This Restaurant surprised me, the food was wholesome & plentiful. The meal wasn't very hot, but the ambience is good.
F. T.
I went here in 2016 with friends and found a great place with a lot of veggie food! the dinner was good and the oriental atmosphere aswell. You can pay how much you fell.
Recommended!
S. G.
Was a good meal. I don't have a lot of money at the moment and gave $12. I had not filled up my plate and did not go back for seconds. I felt really attacked when the man behind the counter said to me "come back in a couple of years". Having received this comment I think I will. Don't judge people by their looks. Please be less rude to people when they might not have a lot to give.

We are proud of Annalakshmi management for running this activity for a good cause. We visit Annalakshmi once a year and so most of our friends. Reason telling this and giving 4 star rating is because, yesterday for the first time I (and couple of other friends too) noticed that one of the lady serving food (appam) gave rude facial expressions when asked for just 1 more appam/ bread. We have always asked on the counter how much should we pay, we are always well behaved and we are also running community cause elsewhere so we know this situation where one person's bad attitude let the whole team down...
I hope Annalakshmi management will take necessary action.
Other than that Everything was perfect as usual.. you guys are legend...
Thanks once again.

Good Indian vegetarian restaurant by the Bell tower that has many branches overseas and serves up delicious vegetarian food and pay a fee as you like. Staff and friendly and welcoming to diners. Choices of coffee, tea, orange juice available ; also you can dine on the outside on the balcony while enjoying the breathtaking view of the swan river and wharf.
P. L.
Great food, great service and great view! Highly recommend the mango lassi.
D. L.
Great place. Great people & a brilliant service of pay what you want/can.
Can’t complain about the food either, it serves it’s meaning & the volunteers were always smiling! Have to visit if you haven’t yet.
R. C.
Nice vegetarian Indian buffet though limited choice. The food is good and friendly staff. For those who forgot to bring their wallets or short of money, the meal is free. A small contribution is expected.
A. J.
Amazing place. Good healthy food great location stunning views and a pay as you feel policy to help the less fortunate get a cheap or free meal. If only more restaurants did this.
P. P.
I visited this place as my very first time. At the time I was there in this evening, most of the people were whitemen there. It's a very good idea of the founders of this property. And also it would be great if people would donate for this charity as we did. God bless them.
A. B.
Really nice location
Descent food but nothing like amazing.
Also the bad note was I believe the man who his the owner of the place waiting for you at the exit and looking at how much you will give and you feel like the pressure on your shoulders at this time he also said "I have to pay $30000 rent per month + all the food we serve" sorry but it's not my business and he should not be insisting like that to get money from the customers or maybe he should just relocated his restaurant to a place less expensive.
N. P.
Wow a must for anyone that loves the authentic experience of eating curry, The place is amazing, service and food is exceptional. Don't go looking for a posh restaurant but go along with the view you will get amazing food and great service.
Z. F.
This is a must see restaurant. Period. I love how you pay how much you believe the meal was worth, and how hospitable the volunteers were. The food is amazing here, but only if you like spice, I highly recommend the potato. An all round great restaurant.
R. H.
An excellent charitable hotel I have ever seen
N.
Best place to grab dinner in the city of Perth in my opinion. It's a 'pay what you think the food is worth' kind of place. Vegetarian menu with communal tables. The view is spectacular. All proceeds go towards social and economic welfare. A definite must if you are in Perth.
S. K.
Great vegetarian restaurant. Amazing variety for lunch and dinner. More importantly, sticks to the core Indian value and culture of food shouldn't be charged to anyone but leave it to the person to contribute whatever they like after the food. Love it!!
N. D.
This is an excellent restaurant, my favourite in Perth. It's great to have a vegetarian-hindu (Hare Krishna) style restaurant with pricing to suit all. The line was a bit long once but extremely fast.
T. L.
Best vegetarian food I can find while I am in Perth. You could literally eat for free but I would advise that you donate some money when you leave. Great place. They serve lunch and dinner to my knowledge.
S. T.
Food is always great here if not a little salty. Shame Covid had has changed things with restaurant format. Very affordable.
L. L.
I like it and will be back.
As for the cuisine - lovely vegan Indian.
Cheep food. Buffet style. Pay what you want and can afford. The food is lovely, so are the views. Cause is very noble.
Expect cantine-like experience.
a. k.
Fantastic experience being at the forefront of Swan River near bell tower and jetty. Million dollar view of illuminated kings Park. Nice food: buffet style meals and pay what you feel like is a great concept in practice. A must visit for anyone.
H. C. M.
Great healthy fresh food love this place .
a. R.
Superb!
Must go.
E. M.
Vegetarian cuisine in a classic restaurant style location. It feels like you're at an Asian style wedding buffet which I like, and the food was tasty when I went. Very polite people behind the counters. Indian spices and mild curries.
D. B.
Love this place.. very friendly and welcoming.. love the set menu and it's for a good cause!
The view of the river is one of the best
P. B.
Glorious tradition maintained,so beautifully,in downtown of CBD,Perth is amazing. Simple Tradition and Indian vegetarian food made available is no less surprising. Perth deserves super compliments.
M.
Beautiful place and excellent customer service. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Amazing food. I’ll definitely recommend it.
J. B.
Beautiful people providing Indian Vegetarian food to the public by donation! So generous to those that can't afford to pay much while others make a larger donation to keep the place ticking over..
P. H.
I love this place and the lovely people who volunteer there and you can't beat the location! Yummy food too 💜💗💜
陳.
Nice setting. Clean & neat furnishings. Food is simple but tasty. Limited choice but can't complain much as there's even juice, coffee & tea. Staff is hospitable. Would definitely go there again👍
R. B.
Superb service, friendly kind and so welcoming. Beautiful view and the food was delicious. So tasty and a wide variety of flavours.
C. C.
Very nice vegetarian vegan restaurant by the water. You pay what you feel which is an awesome idea, it's like everyone is sharing the bill at a really large dinner. Love the concept! You get all types here :)
E. S.
Annalakshmi goes beyond just a restraunt for Perth. It's a commendable charitable drive. That said, about the food, it is very tasty, lacks wide diversity but given the minute turnover between walking in and eating along with the "pay what you feel" model it's a great experience with a great view.
T. E.
The best place to go for a vegan feast! The staff are friendly and helpful and reasonable prices too! I highly recommend it!
J. R.
Tasty, simple vegetarian food served buffet-style in a great location with stunning views and peaceful vibes! It's pay-as-you-feel so make sure you give generously so that they survive!
R. K.
one of the best restaurant with great oceanic view and calm ambiance. Also The food is FREE to all. Also, you can make whatever donation you like after having food. MUST VISIT
O.
Rebecca Leath, you do not have to pay. I assume you have never been homeless as you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Get off your soapbox. Aside from this, the food is of reasonably good quality, depending on the day. I usually only have rice, lentil bread and curry. The curry varies by day, sometimes it will be pretty poor and be almost flavourless and taste only of watery salt, other days it will be very nice, my personal favourite curry is the beige coloured one with the coconut. My least favourite curry is the dark orange one with the white seeds (?) in and the green vegetables, as it tends to be on the flavourless side, but if you're hungry then it doesn't really matter as they are catering for a lot of people. On occasion, some of the volunteers are rude. For example, there is an elderly Indian lady that is sometimes there with white hair, and wears traditional Indian clothes, I have seen her on multiple occasions be extremely rude to customers and just be a general nuisance and harass those who she feels have done wrong. Why work there if you can't tolerate the public? All in all, a good place to go when you're hungry and lack money!!
W. W.
Amazing food for an amazing price. Incredibly kind people. Do visit if you get the chance!
B. M.
I went to annalakshmi recently and thoroughly enjoyed the vegetarian cuisine. Was delightful to dine with a Mango drink to compliment the flavours.
L. H.
Wonderful place! The food is delicious! Great vibes! Lovely people. A sense of community and a nice idea that you pay how much you wish for your meal :)
C. S.
This is an extraordinary restaurant. The quality of the food varies depending on the volunteers who staff it, but on the whole my experience here has been great. And you pay what you can for an eat all you want buffet scenario.
Amazing!
J. P.
If you like Indian vegetarian dishes then you must try this place with million dollar views. It’s run by volunteers and you pay by donation only. We love the food here and been coming back over and over in the past few years.
L. B.
Good and healthy food, you pay what you can/want to pay. Food is the same most of the time, so if you went and you planning to go again soon don't think you gonna find something different. The view is just beautiful.
A. S.
Delicious food with a wonderful concept of helping the less fortunate. Run by volunteers. Highly recommended.
R. Z.
Lovely atmosphere and views. Everyone is very friendly
J. S.
Annalakshmi is a good place for eating south Indian food. It has provided facilities to the poor and homeless people for free food.It is a spacious place situated on the banks of swan river.Everybody can eat here and pay whatever he likes.
J. R.
What a humbling and inspiring experience. Lovely, wholesome vegetarian food served by volunteers. No fixed prices - you pay what you believe the meal to be worth. Lovely location and some very interesting people. Thank you Annalakshmi!
S. K.
Pretty average or maybe less than average. Watery Dal, undercooked potatoes.. yes they might be doing a service to feed the poor.. but food taste is a long shot from South India!!
M. H.
An excellent vegetarian Indian restaurant with lots of seats and a buffet that allows you to create a proper thali of food. There's curries, dal, bread, rice, sweets, the ability to make chai and water. Payment is based on what you feel the meal is worth.
A. J. K.
The ONLY FREE vegetarian Annalakshmi Restaurant in PERTH, WA 6000!
You are welcome to give anything as small as A$ 2, medium as A$ 10 and anything large as A$ 101!!!
Just don't go empty handed! Don't do it!
Originally, the best thing to give was whatever you could afford to pay, desiring priceless to the other person!! A desirable piece of small fake gem is as valuable and priceless and yet, their same value, the real gem with encrusted rubies given by the MahaRaja!! Their value does not change!!
In that point, do you consider the food items from here. You first need to eat the food. Then you will decide what you going to pay for that! Small, medium, or rather large currency! This is how you are going to help - small, medium and large currency!
You came and found a solid solution? Yes, you can help! You can complain - when they have finish, you can help for cleaning! This is how Ashrams work!
OM guru bhyo!
P. C.
Its a must visit place if you are in town. Its a restaurant of its own kind, with food served absolutely fresh. You cannot enjoy a better meal on the swan than at this place. Absolutely amazing!
A. G.
Been to Annalakhsmi many times. We love the vegetarian food and the service is great. We will go there again and would highly recommend this place.
L. M.
'Pay what you please' restaurant with a wonderful volunteer community. Such wholesome food with genuine indian flare and mostly vegan options. Highly recommended.
y. d.
Good vegetarian restaurant in excellent location .it's run by volunteers..u can pay what u think it's worth for.. many varieties and home like taste, you can't expect more than that..locattion strikes of all. Good restaurant with very good motive !!
A. J.
It's amazing opportunity for people to have a good meal when they have very little money and also great for friends and family to get together. Beautiful view, and delicious meals. Very generous. Wish we went more often
S. M.
Delicious, unpretentious vegan dishes served in comfortable environment. Relaxed and easy going venue. Perfect to stop for dinner after a river walk or quay stroll.
A. R.
Words can't explain the gratitude I have for this restaurant and all the volunteer workers here. I am extremely grateful for being given volunteer opportunity during Christmas, 2018 when I was in Perth on vacation.
The world should have more AnnaLakshmi restaurants, where everyone is equal, irrespective of their financial situation. Sleep is the greatest equalizer of all beings today; AnnaLakshmi is showing that food is also a great equalizer (as it should be).
Namaste!
W. G. D.
Accessible, standard Indian cuisine by donating what you value the meal to be. Open lunch/ dinner to the public.
Stunning riverside location. Ideal to meet friends etc.
T. B.
The Dosa was delicious, . Amazing Indian vegetarian food and the price is what you think it's worth or what you can afford. Well worth visiting if you've never been and like some spice!
M. E.
Delicious food and staff that have made helping those that cannot acquire their most basic human needs. I love eating here and taking my friends, knowing our hard earned money is going to such a worthy cause :)
K. R.
Good Vegan Indian fare, can eat as much or little as you like and pay as you feel fit.
Just moved to Perth and I know I'll be back. Really enjoyed sitting out on the deck.
Z. G.
Annalakshmi is an awesome pay what you can Indian vegetarian buffet restaurant. I usually pay $15 pp although it can be hard to know what's right and it depends how much I eat/drink. Arrive early to get a table outside overlooking the swan river and watch the sun set .
P. S.
It was soooo great there and the food was sooo tasty. I love it..
m. m.
Wonderful food. Amazing views from balcony. One of Perth's true gems. Incredibly a pay what you can afford eatery.
A.
Simple hearty food with great service and great views. Pay what you feel like and it feels so good and satisfying to eat at this wonderful place.
S. L.
Excellent venue. Beautiful views, great food and lovely staff. Help support this place to keep running!
C. S.
Really amazing Indian food there id recommend this place. I didn't like the desert as it was too sweet. But other than that all the food was great
P. K.
Amazing place. The food was excellent and I love the concept of providing free food for whoever needs it.
Love the community element of this place. Oh yeah and the location is great as well. Highly recommend 😍
P.
Buffet style with no planned seating. Pay what you can.
If they were a regular restaurant, the rating would be lower, but they're not.
What they do is special and everyone should visit them at least once while they are in Perth.
D. P.
An interesting but enjoyable experience. All vegetarian food, with different options every night and a 'pay what you feel' model. There's also a nice view from the riverside seating at night.
P. B.
Great food and service. All food is vegetarian. Dessert is also included. Also have drinks available. It's a buffet restaurant you pay what you can.
K. J.
Eat as much as you want and pay what you want.
The food was delicious and i must say they serve great indian curry! Although it is for a good cause, the staff are very friendly and welcoming :)
a. s.
I spoke to the person on the counter and understood the financial constraints and pressure under which owner are surviving still they greet and meet everyone.
Least humane thing is to pay a minimum like $10 so they can atleast serve the needy.
D. B.
A different experience. Pay what your heart desires. They feed homeless people in Perth as well as people will to do. Vegetarian food that is very tasty, in a buffet format.
j. j.
Nice food, venue and staff, but seeing people sneak out the back with plates and everything was disappointing. They could pay even a dollar and sit there, but no, they pay nothing and steal cutlery. Sit inside if you want to avoid poor behavior and enjoy the good food!
a. s.
More than food and ambience this place is known for the community help it provides .... They have a "pay as you like " Policy that helps so many home less people with no food.... They maintain superb standards.... In spite of the huge rush....
M. K.
The best place in Perth to experience Indian courtesy. This amazing place is a dedication to Goddess Annalakshmi (Goddess of Food). Its a eat what you want and pay what you want place. Restaurant which is solely sponsored by its donors.
S.
Humble servings of vegetarian buffet cuisine serve at a cosy environment .. Great service , good atmosphere by the Riverside of Swan River . Recommend to visit the place in the evening so you can enjoy the scenic views post - meal strolls !!!
S. D.
The cuisine is simple, healthy and delicious. The service and experience is humbling as the environment and staff are authentic and genuine. Always give them a tip!
S. o. L.

It's a very nice place to enjoy a humble meal. I enjoy it for many years but the place seem to attract quite a different crowd these days. Overall, i still think it's a great place for a good cause.

The best vegetarian in Perth! The food is great and the people working there are so friendly!
A. C.
Pay as you feel ! Offer $ 5 or $ 10 for an all you can eat Indian feast ! I have eaten a lot of Indian take out and Annalakshmi is one of the best by far ! With an authentic feel with a breathtaking view of the swan ! You won't regret the experience or the food !! Indian tali meals at their best :)
S. B.
Looking for some simple pure Indian vegetarian and restaurant with different concept, where you pay as you wish, running since several years.
Ambience wise not that great when compare to AnnaLakshmi in SG & KL, Location wise they have got a good view of Swan River.
M. S.
Great food, wonderful idea.
The people who run it are so calm and lovely
I could go there for the food and atmosphere everyday
Thank you for all you do 🙏

Great vegetarian indian food. Great views as well. Try it. You'll love it.
R. Y.
Always 5 star, what a location and Ambiance, most importantly the cause for which this restaurant runs for, eat how much ever and pay whatever from your heart. Lists among the most unique restaurants in the world.
R. R.
Absolutely awesome ... eat as you like and pay as you like. That's right there is no price for the food. Situated by the banks of Swan River with great views too.
k. t.
The food not in indian taste I mean not enough chilly and salt so no taste but cost wise cheap
M. P.

Came here 4 years ago, came back and still the same. Surroundings have changed but the restaurant is still same simple concept: good Indian food, helping those less well off, and pay what you can/think it's worth it.
E.
Great food and service. All food is vegetarian. Dessert is also included. Also have drinks available. It's a buffet restaurant you pay what you can.
K. F.
Nice place to sit overlooking the Swan River. Not sure what happened..maybe their power was off or something but the curry was cold?? The soup was delicious!!
D. F.
I go to Annalackshmi several times per week, good food and lovely setting overlooking the Swan river, pay what your heart feels. Good place to meet new friends and travellers.

C. J.
Very different restaurant concept. I loved the food and the beautiful view of the river. Thank you to all the lovely volunteers for the friendly service.
H.
A restaurant with an unusual donation system in Japan. Both satisfaction and quality are high. Even coffee and after-meal ice cream comes with a set. A place to go once.
D. N.
The best place for Indians at a low price. Live the ambience and the fact that they take whatever money that you can give for the food eaten.
T. H.
Very good Indian veg buffet.. The environment is nice. You can pay whatever you like for the food. It closes by 9 pm
j. k.
Very tasty food and l am overwhelmed by the concept of not for profit service provided by Annalakshmi to the community. I wish all the volunteers of Annalakshmi on swan a beautiful blessed life!!

very tasty quality food from a meat eater
T. R.
Eat what your stomach needs, pay as your heart desires. You won't find better fare in this style in Perth. You also won't find views like this, with this price tag, ANYWHERE.
Recommended for one and all.
H. R.
Simple idea. Nice food and you pay what you think the meal is worth. Great venue on the river. With a great Outlook. (not licensed or byo)
F. B.
Very interesting place. Buffet dinner, and pay what you think it's appropriate. The volunteers are very friendly and welcoming.
H. G. A.
A vegetarian restaurant. Delicious Indian cuisine and very cheap cost (pay whatever you think it worths). Parking is an issue. We have charged $100.
M. T.
Run by a temple, it offers vegetarian Indian food with a river view. Pay what you think it's worth. It's refreshingly different in a city that focuses on fine overpriced and unaffordable dining.
H. M.
Phenomenal place to have pure vegetarian and Indian food. I personally love its tag line. 'Eat as much as you want, pay as much as your heart says.'
S.
Really great good for a very reasonable price. Great gluten free options too.

My favourite go-to Vegetarian food in the CBD. The volunteers are always friendly, the food is always delicious, and the views of the city and Swan River as always are beautiful.

Vegan curry buffet. Eat and pay as much as you feel like. It goes to charity. Great food.
G. B.
Vegan Indian. Eat as much and pay what u reckon its worth to you. Overall yummy but dont expect much for service as this is run by volunteers. Restroom was the most disgusting ever, topped only by dirty ones in asia.
