Atmosphere fantastic, service very friendly however your Boullaibaise really needs some work. I had 5 bites and to stop. It was like gulping a mouthful of Saltwater and the oil that was floating on top was unbelievable. If the noticed when we left my plate was still full. I have been to France a few times and I am a serial foodie. Definitely not a Seafood Soup by the taste and the colour. Sorry guys however the Chicken Fricasee my partner said was sensational.

Went to dinner last Sunday for the first time in this restaurant and had an experience which exceeded my expectations. Firstly, I loathed steak prior to coming here BUT THAT Sirloin STEAK was cooked to perfection!! Secondly, the ambient environment and music ensured we felt relaxed throughout dinner. This is a beautiful little gem of a restaurant. The setting is divine, staff are very attentive and the food is amazing. Looking forward to going back and trying the duck which my partner had and said it was tender and delicious. My steak was also blissful!

Absolutely the best steak I have had for a long time. Perfect in every way, service exceptional, atmosphere exactly what you want, beer cold, perfectly chilled & tasty. Only disappointment was the cocktail I ordered wasn't what I actually received. Still drank it because it was still made very well. Well worth the visit to decide for yourself.

Food, service, ambiance all 10/10! We were well looked after the whole night by the lovely and friendly staff. The food was elegantly plated and tasted delicious, we ordered the 3 cheese croquettes (I think that’s what is was called), the duck and beef calzone. Great portion sizes, we each had a glass of the blackbird merlot which was great! Definitely recommend sitting outside, they played smooth jazz the whole night, really reminded my of being in Paris!

Food was good with big portions, worth the price. Not cheap, not expensive. Didn't quite like the indoor atmosphere as it felt very dark and tight, but staff mentioned they weren't opening the outside section of the restaurants, so we sat inside. Service was good.

Just gorgeous! The food was incredible and the staff were all beautiful. Even though Blackbird is tiny and was very busy, we weren’t rushed out despite an early booking. Often when you book at 6.30pm they expect you out for another sitting later. Such a perfect evening and couldn’t recommend enough. We’ll be back!

Great service with polite wait staffs. Explain each course of menu with ease. The outside scenes was eye catching while sitting inside make us feel like we are in some restaurant of Europe. Food was excellent but the attitude of the staff on arrival was not welcoming and on leaving we found out we couldn't use the entertainment book on a Saturday night. It's in the smallest print at the bottom of the menu and apparently on their website so. The entertainment book page on this restaurant says it's valid at all times apat Rom the usual public holidays!

The atmosphere is great here, it's nice and quiet but not too quite It would be a great restaurant to take your significant other or go for a more intimate style date, in my opinion. Nice little restaurant with nicely plated food. The ox cheek was so moist and soft and the sauce was delicious. The little baked mashed potatoes was a nice and yummy addition to the dish. The chowder would've tasted better without the fish which made the dish really fishy.

A little bit of dramas when we went there. We were with a fairly big group. Some of us didn't want degustation and some did. The waitress said that this wasn't allowed but they didn't have enough plate to do degustation for the whole table. They end up letting us mix degustation and non degustation provided that only three of us in max selecting non degustation as a solution. Food was decent and was a good price for degustation at 65$ per person.

Exquisite food, wonderful staff. Left the premises in a very happy mood. Try the gnocchi it’s delicious. We will definitely go again. Oh my goodness, the Roasted Cauliflower and Ricotta Gnocchi with broad beans was simply superb. Absolutely delicious. Particularly when super fussy Miss Almost Fourteen eats her entire meal and asks for more... Attentive service, lovely wine list and the ever present signature popcorn makes for a lovely meal. Dessert was as pretty as a picture, too. Only gripe would be the sluggish air-con, but on a 40 degree + day, who can complain? I'm sure it was stifling in the kitchen! Can't wait to return.

The food was average. We got just the Chef's choice. I ended up receiving the seafood pasta that was overcooked. The service was alright, but a bit unprofessional (the staff was very young and a bit confused). They didn't explain the dishes very thoroughly. They also were very strict about having a reservation even though there was only 1 other table taken and a list of 6-7 reservations for the whole evening. I wouldn't go back again.

Went here for an anniversary dinner as it had come highly recommended. Beautiful, dark, intimate space with a lovely, attentive staff. The food is comfortable French-inspired fare, that is wonderfully presented and prepared. We had twice baked souffle and calamari to start, with the pork belly and braised beef cheeks for mains. All delicious. If you're looking for a place that's just plain good, without a lot of pretense, this is the place.

What a hidden delight! We dined at Blackbird recently for a lazy and slow, rainy Sunday afternoon and it was really delightful. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff were equal parts friendly and professional. We chose our own but the tasting menu is supposed to be fab and $65 for 8 courses is a good deal. Also the chocolate truffles and French press coffee to finish was the cherry (or blackbirds?) on top of this wonderful cutie pie. A perfect location for a cosy date or a leisurely afternoon for a special occasion/someone or just because your worth it.

Really loved our lunch today under the beautiful liquidambars overlooking Claisebrook Lake and its birdlife. The waitress was superb, and the six (small) course Chef's Choice menu was well thought out and extremely tasty. Such a great format... I wish more restaurants did this. Don't be fooled by the small menu, this place punches way above what you think you're paying for. The service is fast and friendly. The food is exquisite. Robust, well balanced and flavourful. Umami might be the right word here. The food came quickly. We had the steak frites and crab tortellini. Both were cooked to perfection. Flavours exploded in our mouths with every bite. Blackbird may look ordinary from the outside but do not let this deter you from stepping inside. I was so impressed by the friendly, calm and thoughtful service. It was a cold night and they kindly closed the front door as per my request. They even brought over a brand new Ikea blanket after noticing I was feeling chilly. The music, lighting and seating made the place very cosy, comfortable and romantic. The food was also delicious and reasonably priced, especially the dessert, $9 for a beautiful coffee panna cotta! Extremely impressed with this restaurant and could not recommend it enough! Thanks for the great night!

Superb, some of the best meals I've enjoyed in Perth. Never fails to deliver a great experience. Definitely go for the Chef's Menu for a variety of delicious options based on what's perfectly fresh and in season at the time.

Came here last weekend for a belated Valentines day set menu dinner. Great location with views of the water, decor was nice and atmosphere was intimate. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive throughout the night. Set menu was five courses, unfortunately without a wine paring, however their usual set menu apparently comes with one. First course were half shell scallops with miso butter. These were okay but nothing to rave about, nicely cooked but obviously not fresh, but that's hardly outside the norm for half shell scallops in Perth. Second course was crisp roast pork belly with salad of beetroot, rocket and haloumi. This was again okay, the Pork crackle wasn't quite crisp and the meat needed a touch of seasoning, but it wasn't over cooked or too dry or anything and the salad was tasty enough. The third course however was perfect. Handmade ricotta gnocchi, cauliflower cream, roast cauliflower, broad beans and sage butter. This was very tasty, perfectly cooked and the flavors were perfectly balanced 10/10. Main course was the choice of seared Sirloin or pan fried baramundi. Both of these were excellent, but i was glad i chose the fish as the steak looked to be cooked to Medium which is a touch over for my taste. The barramundi was perfect however. The skin was crisp, the fish wasn't over and the accompanying flavour combination from the squash, courgettes and truffle mascarpone was excellent. For dessert we had chocolate tart with white chocolate sorbet and dried raspberries. This was beautifully presented and the white chocolate sorbet was excellent. I would be interested to know if the sorbet was made in house... Overall great experience, great food and great service. I'll definitely be back to try the a la carte menu.

Dined at Blackbird on Thursday, 21 April, 2016 as it was promoted in the Dimmi website with a 50% discount offer that week for the 6pm seating. I was delightfully surprised! We had the option of seating indoors or outdoors - and both options were equally romantic: lights reflected on the water of the river outside? Or candle-lit tables with tastefully low-key, but European style instrumental sounds inside in a rustic, homely setting! It definitely offers a French touch in terms of it's European style cuisine options - with that "Master Chef" flair for innovative approaches to classical, provincial fare... We browsed the Autumn Menu in a romantic corner of the restaurant...The waitress was attentive and personable, offering us suggestions and describing the "fish of the day" so that it instantaneously made us both order the Barramundi for mains! She also suggested a glass of the Pinot Grigio from the Murrumbidgee region to accompany the fish - and it was perfectly matched - delightful! Out came a little dish of Popcorn topped with a dash of salt, truffle oil and chilli as a "moreish" little appetizer! I really appreciated their "Share Plate" Entree options, which allowed us to indulge in a dish together without spoiling our appetites for mains... We chose the Creamy Polenta, served with succulent porcini mushrooms, lemon confit and parmesan crisps - (absolutely mouth watering) - a surprisingly sublime, subtle dish! The Barramundi was beautifully cooked: crispy skin, with white flesh that fell apart under the fork, bathed in a delicious light jus, served with a ring of New Zealand mussels (resembling an exotic marigold bracelet) that delicately bordered the porcelain plate. A side of shoe-string frites, served in a little pottery cup was the perfect textural accompaniment - golden and crispy - without being overwhelming! The Blackbird Restaurant was flawless: lovely ambiance, fantastic views, melodious music, astute service, faultless culinary skills, bedazzling flavours - classical, rustic refinement with contemporary, quirky touches! Take your partner for a romantic evening out by the river!
