I believe this Indian restauranr take away has been here for quite some time and yet we were oblivious to it. This is the second time we have had a banquet takeaway from here and both times they have been fantastic. We do have our very favourite Indian restaurant in the Northern Suburbs, but let me say, this is a very very very close second.

Best "British Style" Curry in the Northern Suburbs Highly recommended the Korma, Madras and Vindaloo. Good quality meat and nice thick sauces.

Used to be the best curry restaurant. This is now the second time an item has been forgotten from my order, one placed in person and one online. Quality of food has declined over the years. Disapointing. We will be finding somewhere else to be our new regular I think. Hopefully they right things as the owner is the loveliest man.

I’m updating my review as I have to confess I have had a few ‘patchy’ curries from here - usually pretty good but sometimes under par. Tonight we ordered a massive feast and it was SENSATIONAL!!! Best curry I can remember. Outstanding! The lamb madras was beyond but all dishes were top notch. Thank you!!! Just wow....we were all blown away and very happy indeed :)

We visited Essence of India last night after visiting several in the local area over the last 6 weeks in search of the perfect curry. After a slow start taking our order they redeemed themselves with good food. What particularly impressed us was the Chef's approach to all the customers, checking that was well and taking a genuine interest in our experience. Nice to see. Thanks for a pleasant evening.

My wife and her family have been coming here for years. It is our go to Indian restaurant! The food never disappoints. One major factor that makes this place special for us is the owner - Raj always takes time to visit our (and the other) table and say hello, ask after us, make sure every thing is okay. It makes it a personal experience and one we always look forward too. We always recommend Essence of India. A great guy and great restaurant.

We just finished our delivered meal from Essence of India and OMG!...best Indian we have ever had. Lovely big chunks of tender meat without all the excess sauce and veggies that other restaurants add to fill the container. Amazing value for money. For what we normally spend on a dinner has easily stretched out for tomorrow's lunch. Very happy customers. :)

i frequently go to Essence with my family. We always have the buffet. I honestly think the food here is the best. The choice is limited to 6 mains but always absolutely delicious and there's a limit to just what anyone can eat anyway! Highly recommend it. Raj is a delight too.

This place is definitely one of the better Indian restaurant around. I do find that from time to time the curries all taste the same. The buffet night is good value and seems to be better food than off the menu (more spice and taste). It's local for us, so will go back. It's definately not as bad as some people make out in these reviews.

Best meal for a long time. Mixed curry off the 'chefs specialities' was wonderful (sorry can't remember the name) and the Keema curry knocked up by the owner was a delicious first for us in Oz. Restaurant was busy which is good to see as this is our local and we keep coming back despite trying over a dozen alternatives nearby. Service was as shocking as always but that's all part of the charm for us. Excellent food this week resulted in Curry Safari score of 82%

After a little confusion at the cash register I was great full that they offered a little discount to rectify. Overall the food was amazing and very well priced. We will definitely be back again. Highly recommend the butter chicken it was unbelievably good.

Had the buffet which was amazing. Usually sceptical about the buffet dishes but they were loaded with meat. I have a nut allergy and and they made my own separate portions. We also had a visit from the chef which was nice and they had peroni beer on tap on special for $5 a pint! Def going back

Wonderful food, shocking service, we had to ask for plates!!! staff asked to clear the table whilst we were still eating!! After I cleaned my wine glass it was able to drink from it, the list goes on. However we will return because we like the food...step up the service please.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The owner is so kind and friendly, amazing customer service from him and his staff and fabulous tasty food. We have been coming here for years and have brought family and friends and nobody has been disappointed. Highly recommend you come and try it out!

The best curry around. Great value buffet on wed/thurs evenings. Last week there were 3 chicken curries, 3 meat curries, 3 veg dishes, 3 rice, bhaji, naan, tandoori chicken, salad. A huge selection of top quality food.

Only had take away but really enjoyed each one so far. ( 5 ) Aloo Bhazi is really tasty and potato is cooked perfectly and not drowned in sauce. Chicken Bhuna is the best I've had in the Southern Hemisphere. Kadai Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Beef Hydrabadi, all delicious.

Ok so Good and Bad, The Vindaloo was amazing would give 5* based on that alone, however we ordered via Menulog so we were able to put notes in and choose a time for delivery, the Butter chicken was asked to be medium hot was barely mild and a little bit dry and we asked for the delivery to be at 6.40pm when i placed the order at 5.30pm, the delivery arrived at 5.50pm, way too, early so we had to let it sit and then reheat it when we were ready
