Old review: Oh Miss Mauds Smorgasboard. What a joyful place. The collection of gallant and graceful hospitality staff truly go far to make your visit an enjoyable one. They consistently ask you how you’re doing, is the food alright, and they scoop your employ plates away faster than you can turn around sometimes. Each and every time I come, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner I leave feeling like it was a good use of time and money. It’s by far one of the most pricey buffet I’ve been to. With breakfast at $27 seven days a weeks, lunch at $45 on weekends and dinner at $55 it’s not for the frugal amongst us. The best of the lunch is the giant pavlova and the muscles in cream sauce. The endless string coffee is a fav of mine, as I like to stick around the whole meal and eat slowly, so my many a cup of joe helps is flow.

Y. Z.Very nice, clean, quiet hotel would definitely recommend it. But was a bit disappointed with dinner does look lovely on the pictures, in reality the selection was much less than in the pictures. Breakfast on the other hand was great, bacon, eggs, fresh fruit, juices cereal and much more.

It is now called the NEMONIC... I haven't actually been here since it changed ownership, I remember when it was called The European Hotel, so I'm sorry that I had to edit my past review.... Unfortunately, The Miss Maud Restaurant & Hotel is now gone forever... Among many other companies, especially small business owners in Perth...
I will leave the photos here, just so we don't forget the awesome restaurant, especially the pastry shop which had some delicious cakes... Miss Maud Cafès are still around Perth. City Arcade, Hay Street West & The Carillon Arcade..
I'll have to go visit NEMONIC so I can write a decent review... The exterior is still the same...
U. H.Firstly: any individual over the age of 10 yrs that uses the word "yummy" in a written review, deserves to be drowned in a warm bucket of milk!
I can recommend the breakfast buffet here - for $27, it covers all the bases. Fresh, excellent drip coffee,(which in itself is a rarity these days with espresso/latte etc) juices and all the breakfast items you can expect. The pancakes and fresh whipped cream were also a nice addition.
The decor is a bit dated, but that didn't interfere with enjoying the food. To correct another reviewer, breakfast starts at 6:45am. I don't know where he got the 8:30am from? The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Worth a visit.
J. T.We dined here as part of the Miss Maud Hotel room package deal. Buffet dinner was superb. Staff were friendly and worked quickly and efficiently. The selections of food from seafood, salads, hot dishes and desserts were delicious. In particular the beef brisket which was melt in your mouth and deserved 5 stars of its own - and I'm not a huge fan of beef! All the desserts were so yum, many are sold in Miss Maud cafes. Our only "gripe": the chocolate mousse is overly sweet. It was like the chef sneezed while adding the sugar and accidentally put in 200% sugar. The birthday balloons were a lovely surprise as was the musician who came to our table with a slice of chocolate "birthday" cake aka Queen Silvia. Breakfast was a laid back relaxing affair with equally efficient and friendly staff. The crepes are very addictive and so mouth watering. Everything else was standard breakfast buffet fare all well cooked and nicely presented. Of note: the two male staff members who manned the restaurant reception at dinner and breakfast (sorry don't know their names) were so lovely and welcoming. They are a great choice to be the "face" of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend dining here.

Overall, the food tasted good. The price was about 50 per person for the buffet
T. N.Great value seafood buffet. I went on a quiet Wednesday evening, friendly staff and tasty dishes. Unfortunately the roast beef and pork was all gone though and it didn't seem that there was any more. When in Perth again I'll definitely be back.

The brewed coffee is piping hot and very good!

R.We stayed in a room recently, the accommodation was nice (reminded me of staying at my grandparents house) and the buffet, well I only at the seafood and gluten/dairy free food and there was a sufficient selection for me there. My partner who will eat anything had a bit of everything and he is fussy so he complained about a couple of things but I'm sure the food was fine.

There were 2 things why they lost some points, they gave me a dirty knife and another of our party had a dirty cup and mixed 2 drink orders up but to be fair these issues were fixed immediately with genuine apologies and lastly it was a shame our orders didn't all come at same time but definitely go back again.

Desserts well a big choice and co had a little taste of all of the. Each one seemed to be better than the last. Defiantly will be going back.

E. B.I've been to Nemonic last nigbt for buffet dinner, my husband's birthday. The place looks terrible, no curtains, one waitress couldn't answer quetions she said she was new, another brought me frozen ruy bread and another picked up dirty plates on the left side of the table from the right side, right on top of our heads and food.s Rfthe coocked food is in the dark, you can't see how it looks like, there was only a small piece of azflamb, no other kind of roast,served by a very hairy man, didn't feel like asking for more and in geral the place was nothing like it was before. Never again

I normally eat breakfast around 5 a.m. in the morning so waiting to 8:30 in the morning to have breakfast was a new experience for my stomach.
but I walked in there in a buffet breakfast all you can eat and yeah all I could eat almost rolled out of there at the end of it very yummy very nice presented food.
I haven't need to delete since and I don't think I'll be having dinner tonight because of my stomach had a good sleep.
Would highly recommend going there family friendly good service from the staff members, constant going around two tables pick it up the cups and plates so you don't get it cut it around around you and make it look like you made a pic of yourself like I was.
Yeah you can make bookings like they were on a date is Santa showed up and the kids got all excited all round a place so very nice and adults got excited as well.
R. J. T. K.My experience each time I visit is always memorable. I'm welcomed like a family member and I find nothing is too difficult for the staff , they are there to take care of me and they do. The restaurant is a homely setting. I relax amongst the patrons enjoy the choice at the buffet which is delectable . I don't stay long enough to hear the musicians. I am a regular at this restaurant.
Staff are professional very well prepared for the evening. That is why I give them 5 star rating. Exceptions staff and food.

As for breakfast, I loved the hot selection, cooked beautifully. The croissants and danish were so good as were the yoghurt and fruit selections. The staff were lovely. Great value. P. B.Both times I have visited Perth I have come here, because it is just an awesome place. A wide selection of food, pleasant and polite staff and an excellent variety of non/alcoholic drinks.
I do suggest coming dressed neatly, as there is a bit of a frown on dressing down.
I think the best part was conversing with the chef on one of his recipes, as inquiring minds wanted to know how the food got so good.
If you are in Perth for food, go nowhere else until you have been here.
R. N.The restaurant can get pricey, but the well-stocked selection of food and drinks is worth it. For us, the place has been consistently clean and gorgeous. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. And there's usually live music when we visit which really lifts the atmosphere. We've never stayed in the hotel, but, from a mere peasant's point-of-view, it looks gorgeous.

J. W.The best black forest cake in Perth i've had. Have been eating their black forest cake since i was a kid & brings back good memories. They do really good ice coffee if you feel like an indulgence. I've had their buffet dinner with family & extended family years ago & was quite good as I remembered. Had breakfast here while staying at the hotel and dined here twice. There is an exceptionally good choice of foods available for both the breakfast and dinner options. The hot food is actually kept a good temperature too.
T. H.Great place. I've been going there since I was 7. Miss maud's never fails to amaze me with their food and service provided. Cost has gone up but so has everything. I'm 30 years old now in a wheelchair. I was amazed, I called up and asked about wheelchair access and they put a ramp out especially for me. Love the wooden highchairs. My son was able to eat and then play on the decent size highchair tray. Live music was beautiful not to loud. Just something in the background. I'll be coming back!

V. D.I went here for breakfast to meet with around 65 colleagues. They reserved the whole back room for us which was great so we were able to move around to talk to each other. It was about $24 for a full buffet breakfast with a great selection of Danish pastries. Fruit, yoghurt and cereals as well as hot foods which included pancakes, pikelets, baked beans, chipolata sausages, poached eggs, scrambled eggs and possibly more but that's all I remember. The selection of juices in my opinion were limited on the day I went with only vegetable and orange which was disappointing to me as I like to enjoy different flavours when eating out like pineapple juice and I don't like vegetable juice. The coffee pots and were refilled continuously and they had various types of teas to choose from. Overall it's a pleasant place to eat at and the service is good from their friendly staff.

It has a sweet homey feel and we lingered over our coffee and cheese board. I think it is excellent value for money and there is so much to choose from. We left feeling very full and happy.

Fruit juices were not included. This is a negative.

Notable that the management have done well to provide this quality entertainment that complements the setting perfectly for a great dining experience that allows for decent conversations without having to endure adverse volumes.
Outstanding, friendly, personal service certainly helped to make the visit an enjoyable one too.
The only reasons not 5* are that its pricise location in town has perhaps seen brighter days and certainly not the most modern of venues, so perhaps not perfect for some, nonetheless, we enjoyed its olde world charm.

As much coffee or tea as you want (and with half and half milk! Yummers!). The staff are attentive and helpful. I like that its still the same building and decor as it has always been in our ever changing city.

N. K.My first meal in Perth, after walking up and down Murray Street for 2 hours, I walked into Miss Maud Restaurant at about 7.30pm for buffet dinner. Pretty and homey ambiance, prior reservation was already made by yours truly, the manager checked through my reservation and then, time for my meal. Since I was a vegetarian on this day, obviously, I carefully selected the items. Loved their fresh salads, and soup, also, some pastries and cakes. Great meal, but AUS50 is not cheap for a Malaysian like me though.

K. P.A good smorgasbord. Perhaps not as outstanding as it once was, as there are so many more options in Perth nowadays. Some of the staff are outstanding others just do their job. Good value if you're hungry, although childrens prices are very high. After taking a 4 yr old who ate half a sausage and 2 bites of toast ..at a cost of over $20...as we often eat out with our grandaughter, ...we now tend to avoid visiting other than during school holiday periods where they often run a kids eat free promo. Overall. Good food. Fantastic selection and better value than many other high priced options in Perth if you are looking for somewhere more moderately priced.

P. B.Miss Mauds has a fabulous smorgasbord. This time we went on a Tuesday night and with low turnout predictably had a lesser but still broad range of quality offerings. Service is fairly hands off as befits a smorgasbord. Good value for money as a mid range place midweek and brilliant at easter and xmas
T. N.Unfortunately this place has hone down since it was sold. There is one waitress that stands out she is delightful and has been there a while. Nothing is too much trouble for this lady. You will know her if you see her, in many ways she is the highlight of this place. There is a reduced selection at the lunch buffet. Individual cakes on the high tea stamd have been replaced with pastries only. No more delicious date cakes and the like. They are presently renovating the facade so be prepared for the odd tradesperson peering through the window. Overall passable but not the treat it used to be. The place is mostly empty now. Not sure where the man with the piano accordian has gone...loss of an icon. Tiger prawns down to one plate from a giant platter. Savoury biscuits wrere stale but promptly replaced when reported to nice waitress. I accept they were air softened as very thin wafers probably fresh a couple of hours prior. Disabled parking in car park accross the road is excellent. They no longer ask what the occasion is and offer a helium balloon. Its those small touches guys. The customers do notice. Its a nice day out but not the same as it once was.

P. A.This is a food experience at a very reasonable price, and the accomodation is also 1st class. If you are on a diet, then give this place a miss as the pastries are just yum. The Breakfast is a good deal and you do NOT have to be a guest to have a great breakfast there.
M. T.It's known for its Swedish style Smorgasbord with an unrivalled delicious selection of pickled fish and antipasta dishes. Cakes and pastries are delightful too. Price is higher medium for Perth. I've noticed a decline in their roasts recently, though, insofar as the pork and beef is overdone and unpalatable. Roast potatoes are also suffering which would once have been a concern for them.

While we were sitting at our table, a random man walked in off the street, went up to the buffet, grabbed himself a handful of prawns and walked out. Another patron saw this and told the maitre d who said "omg!" but did absolutely nothing to amend this. Talk about hygiene issues! Fortunately we got there shortly after they had opened and made it to the buffet before the random man did. We will not be going back.

G. O. B. 1.As always busy , food good as always. But today's lunch was a nightmare. 2 patrons had large gophers and were a hazzard to other people. These size gopher are not suitable to be in a venue like this. They couldnt get around the food, blocking people and a trip hazzard. My father in law is unsteady on his feet and they had it even worse. I'm not saying they shouldn't go but maybe tbey shoukd be seated close to the door and not be allowed to drive around the venue, both could walk as they had walking sticks in the gophers.
