How incongruous can you get ? A chippy in the back of the bottle shop? I know. But i read the reviews. And they were great. So, being a big lover of fish and chips, I sceptically tried them. And I was blown away. Such quality. Traditional battered fish and chips. Almost as good as what I'd get in England. Almost. If I had my way, and I know it doesn't suit a lot of Aussies, I'd have soggier chips. But that's a small thing. When can I return?

Ordered two serves of fish and chips, using DoorDash. The fish was cooked to perfection, the chips were tasty and filling. Even allowing for the delivery time, both still had perfect texture and taste. Highly recommended.

Wanted a fish n chips place near Adelaide Tce. I didn't ask the price and ordered one serve. SENSATIONAL!!! and not expensive at all. Chips were crispy, sadly, (as the wife loves crunchy chips and attacked my dinner like a seagull) and the fish was a decent size. We've found a go to place for the future

I love this place, classic fish and chips and so good. I would give 5 stars if they would move to more eco packaging. Styrofoam containers could easily be replaced by cardboard. This is the only thing that stops me coming regularly.

After reading some reviews about this being a traditional fish and chip place I decided to give it a try. The staff all and blank looks on their face and we're very unwelcoming. The fish and chips served in a good size and the chips were fresh and crispy unfortunately the fish was overcooked and thus dry rather than juicy and tender. The potato scallops cakes were terrible value for money, they were tiny and would fit in the palm of your hand and still you were charged $1 each for them. My overall impression is you get a good size serve but it's certainly no we're near one of the betta fish and chip shops I've been to.

I was fairly sceptical upon reading the other reviews regarding the quality of the fish & chips and the size of the serving. Was I surprised! I struggled to complete the meal. The service was excellent and it was only $10. I’ll be returning here again very soon. The chips were excellent, very crispy on the outside and were really well drained of excess oil.

Excellent Its a tiny little shop of everything and i mean everything. You can't tell by looking at the outside of the shop, one could easily be misled into thinking its just abother bottle shop. But step inside to be delightfully surprised. Im very fussy when it comes to my food, especially fish and chips but John's Food & Liquor Store brings it all. Best fish & chips i had in the city by far, easily hands down and thr store is reasonably priced very clean, and the staff are great, freindly anf very helpfull. I recommend this shop ......5 stars easily.

Just had the Barramundi with chips. Couldn’t fault anything, with moist fish and fantastically crisp and fluffy inside chips. It was all surprisingly oil-free and the best fish and chips I’ve had in years. I’ve lived in in the area for 5 years and didn’t realise what a gem is just down the road.

Darn good 'traditional fish & chip' dinners. All the old faves. From chicko rolls and crumbed dogs plus the fish is good quality with all the condimments. The fish & chip section is new mid 2016 but they ensure me the range of fish available will expand (with snapper next I think). For now it is Hake, Gummy Shark (my favourite!) and Barramundi. Oh try a burger too plus any of the 5+ seafood sides or a dozen or so other goodies listed on the menu! Good fish & chips was just what East Perth needed and they have kept the price reasonable. If you want the *good old* style at the *good old* price, here it is at last! If you want a bit of swank then East Perth has always has good expensive fish restaurants. Night on the town or night on the counch in front of the game or from you favorite show ~ now it's up to you!
