Been meaning to try this place our for a while. Finally managed to get a booking mid week. The calamari was nicely fried, the ravioli special was tasty but I found the Piccante pizza a tad salty. Flavours were still good though. And the salad was delicious. I will definitely come again to try the other dishes.

Came here for a quick dinner last night with no booking. The waiter was able to accommodate us easily and was friendly too. We had garlic bread and got a couple of pizzas, everything delicious. I got burrata and my friend got capricciosa, we also had a couple of beers and everything was under $80. Will be back to this place, great atmosphere with Italians running the shop and great service.

Came here on a Saturday night with a booking. Found the place in a bit of a shambles, wasn’t too sure where to go to be seated, staff running around everywhere. After we were seated a waiter came and asked if we wanted water which I replied with tap…the waiter had forgotten about us and another waiter came 5 minutes later. We then ordered the Beoretto Di Pesce and water as we had not received it when we first asked. Food came out reasonably quick and was presented nicely and tasted delicious. Upon paying we waited for a waiter to come to the till only for him to talk to someone waiting for an order about how he looks like a soccer player to which he then pulled up an image on the laptop to show the customer. We were in a rush as we had somewhere else to be and we found it rude, ignorant and unprofessional. So in conclusion the food was really good but the service could do with some work

I had the chef's special (mushroom truffle) gnocchi and it was really nice! So was the cannoli, I forgot to take pictures until half way through the cannoli so the picture is half the size of the real thing. The waitress was really lovely and I appreciate her accommodating and considering my chewing requirements.

Our go to place, everything is proper, delicious and makes you feel great. Love their Ravioli with carot&pumpkin sauce, pizzas are allays good and so are ricotta doughnuts. Good selection of wine and cocktails. Definitely recommend dining here. New Pappagallo's lounge is very nice, wish it was open to public more often.

Let me just start from the end, please let me just say that their ricotta cannoli are simply to die for!! Absolutely amazing!! Staff is friendly, restaurant was busy on Monday night, I definitely recommend to book a table. We had few starters, pizzas and pastas and of course desserts! From the starter, everyone loved the arancini, I’m vegetarian so can’t really say a thing about it, loved the eggplant parmigiana but specially the white pizza with nduja that we ordered without making it vegetarian, absolutely amazing! I had the special gnocchi of the day and they were ok, nothing to die for but all my friends loved the sea food pasta dish which came with a “coccio” so if this is your first time here and you’re not vegetarian/vegan I highly recommend it! Ordered Chianti as a wine, delicious and for dessert no doubt, ricotta cannoli!! Best one I had here in Perth, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Thank you to the all staff and chefs for the amazing experience we had! 6 starters, 4 pizzas, 6 pasta dishes, 2 bottle of wine, a coke, 2 beers, 6 desserts just $77 each! Absolutely not overpriced at all! Loved it. Thank you again!!

Great atmosphere and good food and drinks menus. A bit pricy for the portion but you can have all Italian dishes that you could think of. Risotto, Pasta, Pizza and other main meaty dishes. The place is always busy and normally require booking on weekends night. If you don't mind the wait for the food and the squeeze of the seating, you can go check it out. I gave it a 3stars here is for the price that it is quite high and the service is not the best. I visited this place few times and the staff didn't really present a welcoming face. They walked pass you quickly and not even looked around. I worked in the restaurant before so I understand how busy it can be, yet its not much to put a smile on your face or small greeting. The service makes customer come back to the restaurant, not the food.

Wood-fired pizza, pasta, chilli mussels with a wood-fired dough lid: we had it all. And it was all fantastic. I don’t mean to sound superlative, but it was so amazing I couldn’t believe it. Food arrived quickly, fresh and hot. Service was friendly and helpful. Book ahead of time is usually necessary.

Second time coming here, didn't have a booking but they offered us a seat at the bar! We loved the lamb cutlets, cooked the perfection. Although the cabbage salad was quite bitter we weren't a fan of that (cabbage can sometimes be bitter depending on season). We also got pizza supremo and it was delicious. The chips are also yummy they are made from scratch. My cocktail grumple (?) Was quite lovely and light. It's a lovely atmosphere. Will be back again.

Tonight we celebrated my husband’s 51st birthday here and we had the most amazing time. Not only that the food was out of the world - everything was like a gastronomical delight journey but the staff and the service was beyond comparison. Can’t stop raving how personalised was their approach- including a small cake with candle and the birthday song. Felt happy and welcomed. The positivity of the place just shines thru! Thank you Simone and the the wonderful lady who served us. You guys are just wonderful. Will surely be back SOON!

We came here just after restaurants were allowed to have dine in service due to Covid and it was the best dinner I've had in a long time! We booked ahead because it's very popular. I grew up on Bourke Street and so, a visit to Papagallo always stors up mysterious sentiment, and then add to tha, the connection that I have with its owners is brings it to another level. But leaving that all aside, and being as impartial as I can 5 stars and this is why... ambience, staff and feel reminiscent of a typical European setting, couple that with the the amazing dishes, finish it off with a Tiramisu coffee and one last note, start your evening with an aperitivo(ask Giiuliano to prepare his signature Campari Amaro), which you would travel an hour just for this alone. Compliments to the staff and thank you to the Nino and Sarina and best wishes for the years ahead.

I ate here for the first time the other night and had a lovely experience. The man who looked after our table was super friendly and all of the food was delicious- my highlights were the bruschetta and margherita pizza. It would be nice if the staff asked before clearing some items off the table though, my parents and I were disappointed when our bottle of wine and my coke were both taken before we'd finished drinking them (we were in the middle of a conversation, so by the time we realised it was too late to stop them). Our only other issue was that we found the indoor seating quite uncomfortable. Otherwise it was a lovely dining experience and I would go back again 😊

Wow! Probably the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to. The Tagliatelle al ragu pasta is to die for!! It was a decent serving size and lots of meat in the pasta made it so filling. The pizza was also super good. The service was excellent, very fast and efficient. But what blew me away was the tiramisu, it was absolutely fabulous. It was so well balanced, I loved every bite of it. We left the restaurant feeling so happy and satisfied. I’ll definitely be coming back

Very good experience! Firstly I called them on such short notice to fit in 12 people on a Saturday night, with a bit of shuffling around they managed to book us in! We had the Set Menu option 2 and it was unbelievably good! Shared platters of antipasto, arincini, mussels, as a starter, then we had the best wood fired pizza come out, followed by the pasta! The servings were huge and lets just say everyone left very satisfied and happy! Thank you Pappagallo see you again soon!

For the price the food is very small and very expensive. You order a special on the menu and the plate contains maybe 4 pieces of pasta and the price is $29 as you can see in the photo. Pasta was average for that price so the owner is dreaming and ripping allot of people off.

Had the pleasure of trying this restaurant for the first time lastnight. We were unsure where to go for my birthday, and this popped up when I Googled "Restaurants Leederville". So glad it did. It was okay. The gluten-free pasta with chilli garlic oil was nice without being legendary. My partner's gluten-free penne with beef rags was really good but not unlike anything we've tried in other Italian cafes around Perth. They forgot our cocktail and our espresso never turned up. But the service was friendly and apologetic so it was hard to be angry. This place is chockers most weekends and the noise is off the charts so maybe don't bring nanna with her hearing aid as she won't hear a thing.

Called in on a whim for the very first time to Pappagallo Saturday evening not expecting to get a table but the manager made sure that we did, even if it was only for an hour. Really glad we decided to stay as our five meals were first class. We had...gnocchi, clam pasta, pizzas and a great chili mussels served with a pizza base top. Beautiful authentic Italian food. The wait staff were friendly and competent, our servers spoke fluent Italian. The food was fast, fresh and delicious and the environment was very comfortable. Would recommend this for a special occassion dinner or a fun mid week night out.

Whether you value class, distinction, originality or simply good food at a decent price, you'll find this place is ticking all the boxes. The original touch is there, the authentic passion too and so are the flavours of olden days! And the manager can really make you feel at ease without becoming obtrusive. Never any pressure to get up and go (sadly common...). Just a couple of notes to make it 5 star: 1) try a different coffee blend 2) frozen prawns (even smaller) are ok, frozen squids are not. Ever. 3) throw in a couple of scallops and/or fresh squids/octopus instead? Will visit again.

Great authentic Italian food at a very reasonable price. I would say it is in the top 5 places for pizza in Perth - but it doesn't end there. Really yummy sea-food as well, and I heard good things about the pasta. Food was well presented but unpretentious. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Although there is no vegetarian pasta on the menu they were all too happy to whip up something for my friend, without any fuss. Food came out promptly after ordering. This is the kind of restaurant I want to see more of in Perth, and I'm sure I'll be back soon :D

Service very good. Staff have that italian flair that adds to the atmosphere and overall experience. Food like service is relatively quick. Pizzas are gourmet in style and are decent enough in size 2 pizzas feed 2.5 people. Kids menu is good and they can accommodate within reason minor changes to cater for your fussy children. Overall a great not so little place just outside the busiest area of Leederville allowing that more relaxed feeling.

Visited for the first time for dinner. I absolutely cannot fault the experience I had at Pappagallo. The owner who and staff were warm and attentive. The food was flavoursome and well thought out. We went with the lamb Ravioli with a carrot purée- excellent balance of flavours that allowed the lamb to not be overpowered by the purée. Also had the Sicilian pizza- simple, delicious flavours (excellent with the chilli). The bartender is well skilled and can knows how to mix a mean drink. For dessert we had the panna cotta and the tiramisu which again were delicious. We were stuffed by the time we left and I was overjoyed with finding a genuinely good restaurant (which there are very few of in Perth). I’m so glad my hubby and I decided to dine here. We had excellent, quick service regardless of them being extraordinarily busy. Hats off to them not dropping their quality of food given how busy they were. I cannot wait to go back!!

A friendly and knowledgeable wait staff makes for an enjoyable night. The food and the atmosphere were both authentic Italian. Food came out very quickly and the portion sizes were generous. It is also BYO, we took three bottles of wine and opened two of them, however the staff only charged us for one which was a refreshing change in a city very dedicated to the bottom line. Authentic Italian with a bar and nice cosy decor. The food quality was a little inconsistent. My dad's Tagliatelle Ragu didn't seem to be seasoned at all and was rather bland. The other dishes were good though. They were rather busy the time we went and seemed to be short staffed. The food came out timely but actually getting the attention of the wait staff was a mission. Even when they were at the table they didn't seem very attentive. Forgivable considering the circumstances. However the most confusing thing was when two of our party didn't finish our meals and asked for them to be put into containers so we could take them away. When they came back both dishes had been out into the same container. Yes both of them had tomato based sauces but we weren't able to take it own meal home for later.

Every time I go past this place it is busy and after dining there twice, I am not surprised. The food is great - freshly made pizza, lots of quality topping - the mushroom and truffle - yumm! Service is very attentive and warm. It gets very busy so some patience is sometimes required. A lot of the customers are Italian - which has to be a good indicator of quality. We are not Italian, just very happy locals to have a brilliant pizzeria in our neighbourhood at last. We will be returning regularly!

Authentic Italian cuisine! The pizza was the best I ever had, crunchy and loads of prosciutto. Antipasti also huge! Of course it is not cheap here, but you will see that the prices are reasonable and you get value for money. Would really recommend this restaurant.

Prior to completing my review, I would like to qualify this by advising that I wrote to the Management at Pappagallo a week ago, hoping they would acknowledge my concerns with a simple apology for my birthday experience. I have received no response, which speaks volumes to me and confirms the impression left on me by the Manager/? Owner. This is a copy of my email sent to Pappagallo last week. I am writing to advise Management/Owner how very uncomfortable I was made to feel last night by the Manager, on my birthday. I had phoned and made a booking with this same person last Friday, for my birthday and had provided details of the booking. I was certain it was the same guy, as he had the same attitude on the phone to me and was very distracted. When my husband and I arrived last night, we were advised that there was no booking in my name. I was asked when the booking was made and had I made it on line etc. I advised that I made the booking last week and I had in fact spoken to him. My number was checked and still I was advised there was no booking and my telephone number was not in the system. I then checked my mobile phone and could prove to the Manager that I had phoned last Friday at 5.33pm. To be honest, if I didn’t have my mother and son and his partner coming to dine with us to celebrate my birthday, I would have left. The Manager made me feel like I was lying and he seemed unable to accept that he had made a mistake. He eventually told us we could sit at a table, rather begrudgingly though. Still no apology from him. I am not one to write a bad review because of rudeness, however, I feel obliged to write to the business to let them know how this makes your customers feel. Mistakes are made and people understand this. A simple apology and a bit of “hospitality” would have saved the situation. I would like to acknowledge that all other staff that we dealt with, especially our waiter for the evening, were very professional and friendly. The food was also very nice. We chose your restaurant, as it had been recommended to us by friends. All I want to achieve by writing this, is that the Manager takes a step back and looks at how he deals with situations like this in the future. I am confident that he would not tolerate his staff members behaving in the manner that he conducted himself last night.

Great decor and fast service. Unfortunately the owner/manager came across very arrogant and rude, like he didn't have time for us. I ordered a glass of prosecco, it was flat and tasted as if the bottle had been open a while. When I asked for a new glass, this got rectified which was good. One of the dishes was the ravioli of the day which was delicious, another was the gnocchi which was average and had different pastas in the sauce...not sure why there was pasta in a gnocchi sauce??, the ribeye which was full of fat and hardly got eaten and the mozzarella salad which tasted like a cheap, old piece of mozzarella and also didn't get eaten. All in all, I wouldn't bother going back.

We visited Pappagallo's for dinner with 3 adults and 2 children (ages 3 and 4). When we arrived we felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere and we knew it must be good as the restaurant was filled with lots of people. The service was quick and friendly with the attentive waiter's, especially Nino the owner. We ordered pizza, fish of the day and chicken. The wood oven pizza was delicious, the base was thin and the toppings generous. I tried the parma (persuittto) and capriossa pizza and definitely worth ordering. The other adults who had the chicken and fish said the food was mouthwatering. If you are after traditional, high quality Italian food this is the restuarant that is a must. You will leave satisfied.

Truly authentic Italian restaurant from the staff to the delicious dishes! Try the Pappagallo pizza with truffle ricotta - YUM! But beware - this place is ALWAYS busy and you must book in advance. We called on Tuesday morning for a table for that evening and nope, not even on a Tuesday! You can walk in and hope to get a seat at the bar, but to avoid disappointment, book a few days in advance. The service is fabulous, the food is great and not over-priced and with a diverse menu to suit everyone. But I wouldn't recommend this as a great place for a romantic meal - it's noisy and bustling but that's half the fun and ambience that is Pappagallo!

Before we finished the entrees the 2 pizzas arrived, but they weren't even hot out of the oven. Then before we finished the pizza, they were trying to clear our table and wipe it down. At this point we had only finished a couple of glasses of wine and most of it in the bottle. We felt rushed (and I get that restaurants need to prepare for the next bookings but the place was getting empty by 8pm). I dont care what excuse you have - if you're taking our plates and wiping down the table while we're trying to enjoy our dinner and conversation, you need a reality check. I dont come to spend money ($95 bill) at your restaurant to feel rushed out the door. Wont be recommending this to anyone.
