k. k.Just delicious❤️ We came here for a family dinner and everything was so well cooked and seasoned. The service was abit slow as they didn’t have much staff but the food and the sauce they used was amazing. We ordered 5 dishes and 3 rice and it averaged to $32/pp. The spicy lamb cutlets, duck curry and grilled pork skewers were the stand out dishes. The chargrilled squid and banana leaf parcel were still yummy too

Menu is little bit different with other Thai restaurants and special.
Massaman curry was delicious.
But
When I was having it I saw a short hair inside.
I reminded a staff before leaving.
She said that’s weird because chef doesn’t has hair and told me that I should tell her. Without any sorry🙁
T. N.Nice restaurant tucked away on Hay Street. Was a bit skeptical about the place as we were the only customers there the entire night, hence the 4 stars. Turns out it was their first night opening again after the holiday season.
The food was delicious though. Great flavours and great service. Hopefully can give 5 stars when we return next time!

Every single dish we tried was delicious. Noodle-wrapped king prawns, charcoal grilled squid, pok pok chicken wings, scallops, duck curry … every single dish, great balance of flavours.
It’s a little pricier than most other Thai restaurants, but it’s worth it. Better than paying less and having a bad meal. Friendly service, too.
We’ll definitely be back, we’ve already been telling everyone that we’ll take them here next!

H. B.Hidden treasure! The venue is hidden behind an entrance you would only see if you were looking for it. It is a basement-style room, clothed with dark red fabric and beautiful decor; dark and intimate. The food is Thai-inspired tapas. Every plate came out very quick, was surprisingly cheap, and most importantly was delicious! The staff were friendly and always standing nearby ready to attend to customers. We ordered almost everything on their 'small plates' menu. Absolutely amazing! If I could give 6 stars, I would. Highly recommend. FYI its BYO - so bring a nice bottle with you. They don't charge a corkage fee either.
C. H.My wife and I visited for dinner on a recent Saturday evening and were pleased to see the restaurant was just as good as we remembered it. The service was friendly and efficient but the food was excellent. We shared several tapas style meals with another couple and enjoyed them all. We will most certainly return again before too long. An added bonus is their BYO policy which allowed us to enjoy an excellent wine without paying an arm and a leg as is the case in so many Perth restaurants.
R. B.Husband brought us there for early Mothers day dinner. Was a bit anxious that there was nothing for my 2 to daughter to eat. The staff were so lovely and whipped up a delicious pad Thai that she absolutely loved. The portion sizing was small and it was on the pricey side but for the ambience and the quality of the food, I'd say it's totally worth it. We are already planning our next meal here!

We're so happy with everything we ordered and we personally provided our compliments to the chef to tell her how much we enjoyed the meal. Do not pass up the opportunity to visit Red Opium, it's one not to be missed! We'll be sure to visit again as soon as we can.

A. H.Excellent quality and delicious food every time we've been there. Tasty and definitely for heat lovers (we've never asked for low or no heat). Ambiance is fine, although a little on the noisy side. Last time we went the service was lacking - it was not as attentive nor as refined as usual, maybe because there were only 2 servers for a full house, or maybe because our server seemed flustered by her load. Great variety of food and definitely good value, especially with byo. We also love that it's owned locally by a nice couple. We'll continue going back!

Most of the tapas weretasty, some were a bit bland like the new style chicken- however have yet to try the larger tapas so can't provide a review on those but they sounded amazing on the menu. Would suggest a more modern change in music to suit it's style more.

All of our food came out promptly and each tasted very delicious...Highlight of the night: the melt in your mouth wagyu and prawn (with superb sauce)! A. J.If you're lost - the entrance is actually on Hill Street, not Hay Street! They have the best Masaman curry I've ever had! Everyone else at the table said their meals were amazing too - the lamb chops I was told were exceptional. Be prepared for a dark evening; the lighting and decor is quite "romantic". Staff were very friendly and helpful too. The only criticism I have is that everyone's food didn't come out at the same time - however I was in a large group.
