Comments of Bendooley Estate
A. &. H. B.
Had lunch here - was delicious! Service was very prompt and it was extremely refreshing to see staff following covid safety precautions (and kindly asking patrons to do the same!) Unique and beautiful dining set up with the fairy lights and library of books surrounding us! The cows behind the restaurant were also super friendly coming right up to the fence to say hello! Wonderful experience!
S. C.
Did a wine tasting today with service by Jen. Could not be more satisfied with her service, knowledge and friendliness. Not only did she take her time to detail the wines but also gave recommendations for dinner and other outings. We will definitely be back & to see Jen! Love Sophie & Bella xx

We had a lovely time at Bendooley thanks to a gift card we received as a wedding present. We stayed one night and the cabin was so spacious and comfortable. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch at the restaurant where the steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and it was very filling. Highly recommend.

We had our wedding at the beautiful Stables. Every person involved from the time we toured the venue to the moment we checked out after our big day was so helpful, accomodating, friendly, responsive and understanding. Bendooley Estate is an amazing place to host your wedding. I would not have done it anywhere else. Special thanks to Kelly and Lucy for your hard work and dedication, we greatly appreciate it. We will forever be visiting Bendooley Estate to reminisce about our perfect day.

Attended a wedding here. All gardens and surrounding land is maintained and the scenery is amazing. Food served was fantastic and bar service was on point.
I wish I got to spend a little more time in the function area to see more of the books the estate has in their library.
N. R.
It’s been a few years since I’ve been back but glad to see the famous “Book Cafe” is still thriving and gorgeous as ever! Food was great, service even better but the best part was of course the books! There are two sections, one for brand new books to be purchased and the other is to borrow and read. We loved the kids selection of books - some of these are hard to find even in big cities.

The Bendooley Estate located on 3020 Old Hume Highway, Berrima.
We attended an enjoyable wedding reception there. The food and service were excellent.
The main dining area is unusually decorated bookshelves full of books.
There's ample on-site parking.
L. H.
What a wonderful experience. A beautiful restaurant in an amazing bookstore. The winery produces fantastic wine and the restaurant serves high end fare with 5star service.
Worth the drive!
G. H.
Came here for lunch and we had one of the best meals and experiences we have ever had.
The food was amazing, service was brilliant and the restaurant atmosphere was wonderful.
Definitely worth a trip up the mountain!
S. L.
Great experiences and vibes. If this is your first time here I would recommend sitting near the book barn areas just for the experience. Otherwise, the inner corner near the cafe / barista area is quieter / away from the crowd :)

Food, wine and service were all very lovely. It's our first time visiting and won't be the last. Thanks guys!!!☺️
I had the kingfish with roasted cauliflower which was very tasty. My partner had the lamb shoulder and said it's cooked and seasoned very well. We both had sangiovese wine and then shared a dessert.
We're seated outside but just ask
for blanket and you're fine.
G. S.
Nice service. Was seated in wine room, suggest requesting Book Room when booking for more atmosphere and ambiance OR window seat in Wine Room. Duck egg was delish, chicken is very moist, wine is great, lamb was dry.
J. D.
Amazing place for lunch (group of 8). The lamb shoulder with the bottle of Bendooly house cabernet sauvignon was perfect.
Staff were very friendly and the service was exceptional, definitely be back during the cooler months 👍🍷
L. W.
Very nice wine tasting at the cellar door with some excellent wines. Also very nice meal in the Book Barn restaurant. Staff very friendly and professional. Thank you!
l. d.
Simply Stunning.
Elana, the cellar door manager was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We will recommend to all our friends and family, and we will definitely be returning.
S. C.
Great place to go, the food choices were all good, a bit of everything the please all tastes. We went with pizza to share, wow have they got them right. Give it a try, 🙂
B. B.
Amazing place! Food and service were excellent. The grounds are beautiful. My kids loved looking at the books while we waited for our food. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful with my 2 children's ceoliac food orders. Definitely will be back.
S. D.
Great wine and food. Only issue was that after multiple agreements to allow our dog to sit near us, they were extremely rude about our little cavoodle putting two paws onto the area where we were eating. The whole area was booked by us. I understand their laws but the rudeness was uncalled for and spoiled what would have been a great arvo.

We ate at Bendooley Estate Restaurant today and had a reservation for 11 people at 11:45am.
Our group arrived early so we were seated at 11:30am.
For starter we ordered a Bendooley Deli Board, a 4 cheese pizza, a mushroom pizza and a serving of French fries.
EVERYTHING we had for starters was on point and tasted FANTASTIC. Albeit a little over-seasoned.
For mains we ordered the lamb shoulder x 4, 250g Angus Rib-Eye fillet x 2, Blue Swimmer Crab Spaghetti, Wagyu Burger and kingfish. And a few salads (which came with out starters).
From what most of our party have told me, most of our dishes were satisfactory, but both Rib-Eyes were TOUGH AND TASTLESS. It had a TEXTURE of meat that had been FROZEN, THAWED then cooked. And at a price of $49 each, THIS WAS DISAPPOINTING and we expected better.
The lamb shoulder wasn’t what we expected, it was basically “pulled lamb” shaped into a circle. With boiled green beans and a few other vegetables.
The chef/s was a little heavy handed on the salt with all our orders.
They were pretty well staffed with about 6 wait-staff that I noticed serving about 50 indoor and about 25 outdoors but they just didn’t seem to be as attentive as I would have expected. Empty plates and platters were allowed to sit on tables for too long. Maybe they were just getting back into swing of things.
I have dined here before for dinner about 15 months ago and must say that our experience then was much better than our experience today.

2021 update - on my second visit and delighted to find out the new wine tasting room seperate to the book barn, with a beautiful view to the vineyard. Highly recommended!
2019 - Stayed at the estate for 2 nights, falling in love immediately— spacious room, clean, luxurious. On top of that, food is just amazing.
A. S.
Exceptional. Delicious, interesting good in a wonderful and unique setting. Fast and friendly service with a smile and a great wine list with many local offerings. Definitely a place to eat if you're in the Southern Highlands.
G. F.
Great place for lunch, lovely scenery and good service. Wood fire pizzas were delicious 👌🏻
B. “. R.
We enjoyed a wine tasting recently and it was a fantastic experience with a selection of wines for both red and white drinkers. Staff were very knowledgeable on the wine selection.Tempranillo and sparkling were my personal favourites of the day. With a new cellar door and function area opening soon this is one we would come back to.

We had our wedding at Bendooley Estate in the Book Barn. The venue is stunning, Kelly & Mark ensured the entire event ran so smoothly and the service from the staff was amazing. Our guests were in awe of the venue and the high level of service provided to them throughout the night. Absolutely everything was perfect and the communication in the lead up to the event was always so prompt. The food was amazing and we received so many compliments from guests saying it was the best wedding food they have had. We cannot recommend Bendooley Estate highly enough! Thank you for an amazing wedding and a weekend in the gorgeous cottages.
T. G.
My sirloin was cooked to perfection (medium well). The coffee-based dessert was delicious, not too sweet. The environment is amazing. The staff were friendly yet professional. I don't always give a 5 star rating, but when I do, it's because I've been properly impressed! Despite being a little pricey, I highly recommend this venue 🤓
C. G.
I have had many years of great service at Bendooley.
They treat everyone with a perfect balance of friendliness and great respect.
As a vegan I am always offered a fabulous meal.
The extensive bookstore is a magical bonus.
Plus you have the winery, the beautiful location and lovely team..
S. B.
Beautiful and quirky venue but service misses the mark.
A nice place in the Southern Highlands for a weekend lunch between bookshelves or looking out over the vineyards and grounds.
Food is decent, although a little pricey for the quality. Nothing mind-blowing but there’s a nice range of options for a full meal or snacks. Room for improvement in the service, which is overall lacking in care and attention to detail.
S. S.
Good food, poor service.
We had a lunch booking at 2:15. We arrived early and it was took 10 minutes to be seated. One of our party was running a few minutes late but we were told we needed to order immediately as the kitchen was closing. The food and wine was very nice. Unable to consider desert as told not available due to kitchen being closed. Suddenly our bill was brought and told told to pay immediately.
On our way out we say that they were setting up for a wedding. It's fine if they want to do events, but don't let us make a lunch booking at 2:15 if you plan to bundle us out by 3:30 without any warning beforehand.
T. T.
We had my parent's 60th wedding anniversary with a large group at Bendooley restaurant last Saturday. The service we received in the lead up to the event, service on the day by the waiters and bar staff was 100+ percent. We had so much yummy food, the various dietary requirements were catered for without a hassle and we have gorgeous photos to remember the day in the vineyards. We will definitely be back.
A. T.
Great spot for lunch and wine tasting. Highly recommend their Italian style pizzas too.
R. H.
Had lunch with the family food amazing wine and the ladies serving lunch looking after us We love this place thank you so much We had a slow lunch very relaxing
W. N.
Great food and friendly staff. Nice wine choices too. We went on a Sunday for lunch. They were busy and got orders mixed up. Guests who arrived after us received their food before us. We finished our mains before the salad (which was mistakenly given to another table) finally made it to us.
M. R.
Really enjoyed the tasting and lunch today. Fabulous menu (not large but complete) and perfect portion sizes. It was a really enjoyable experience with the large hearthed fireplaces and gorgeous wood and e posed beams everywhere.
Great experience.
S. D.
Amazing what more could you say about a business that has grown & matured from humble beginnings. Food is absolutely sensational, service outstanding & a wander through the bookshop afterwards to find a literary gem to read by the fireplace just finishes things perfectly. Have been return visitors for nearly 10 years now (my 40th & 50th celebrated here) & lunch during the weekday to avoid the super busy period of weekends allows you more time to enjoy the surrounds, chat to the staff & relax. Have learnt to book in advance a sure sign things are being done well. Excited to see what is next for this great business.
S. B.
Such a beautiful place and so convenient for the wedding we attended
Cleaning not perfect in our cottage
K. H.
Came down from the city for the weekend. Delightful bookshop and contemporary art. Lovely atmosphere and surprisingly good menu for a regional restaurant. Especially the pizzas. I had the eggplant & salami and it was delicious. Wines from the winery available by the glass were Hunter quality! Already planning our return visit.
A. M.
We enjoyed a relaxed lunch here mid-week. Our table was beside the open fire with a lovely view over the vineyards. We enjoyed two excellent share plates, the king brown mushrooms and the heirloom carrots, and both were excellent. We also shared a lamb shoulder pizza which was first class. The accompanying glass of Bendooley Pinot Gris was crisp and smooth. Service was impeccable, not too intrusive, but friendly. I would recommend for a nice long lunch with a wander around the fascinating book barn and some wine tasting.
N. J.
Beautiful scenery. Delicious, creative, well cooked food! Attentive staff & very warm & accomodating sales manager. Nothing was too much trouble. My mums 80th was a breeze with these professionals! Everyone in my party raved about the food! And a special shout to Melinda & Mark 😉
Coming back to browse the book barn.... 😋 📚 🔥 🍽
O. L.
Set in a beautiful location and is a lovely dining environment. I recommend booking ahead, the place is quite popular! The customer service was good and food was prepared in a timely manner. Good variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options and some dairy-free options. Good food - more details in photo captions. :) It's nice to be able to browse through the library and read a book while waiting for your order. Dress recommendations: semi-formal or smart casual, the place be a little posh. If not willing to conform, be prepared for a little judgement :P (My fault for not preparing my man properly, poor soul) Haha. A nice place to treat yourself when you want to be a little fancy though :)
C. T.
We came here on Monday to celebrate a birthday and it was amazing.
The food is well priced with decent servings and it was all delicious. Nothing that we ate was a disappointment. I highly recommend the barramundi on risotto and the parsnip/potato mash.
It was very busy when we arrived at midday, but we were seated quickly. Our waiter was great! Although the busier it got, the slower the service got. Our waiter was pleasant and it wasn't his fault, there needed to be more waiters on the floor to attend to everyone.
We will definitely be back!
H. M.
Stunning location. Terrific food and service. Wine is fantastic. Highly recommend.
P. D.
Visited for lunch and immediately fell in love with the place! Staff were so very friendly, welcoming and attentive from the time we arrived and all through our visit. Great menu, well priced and very fresh. The fireplaces in the cellar room and book store cafe were a fine touch on the cold and rainy day. The book store has a large variety of new and pre owned books to choose from. Beautifully maintained grounds. Highly recommended. 5 stars.
J. W.
Beautiful setting with books wine and pizza. What more could you want, really? Staff are friendly and the owners dog can sometimes be spotted for a pat. Wine tasting is a nice experience and suggest taking your time to browse the book selection.
S. M.
Just love Bendooly! It's a great place to visit and to stay at (I can't tell you about the accommodation as I haven't stayed there). If you are a Bookworm then you will love shopping for books as they have a book shop on site. The food is good but you may wish to steer clear of the salads. I was sickly with mine as I can't take much oil. My salad was swimming in it! I shall know next time not to order a salad. Other than this, the day was great. Go and have a great day yourself.
M. B.
This was my third visit to Bendooley and I’ve really enjoyed it each time. To be honest, in these covid times, the tables seem quite close together, but it’s Australia and it seems to be fine. The food is consistently good, the service is usually either great or really good, the wines are excellent and the atmosphere is so relaxing and welcoming. And the John Olsen painting is worth a visit!!

This winery is in a beautiful setting, with plenty of parking and an additional full library, small shop, cellar door and restaurant. The main space housing all the books is striking with a glorious open fireplace. There seems to be some confusion over where the cellar door is located as there are two spaces which could house this. We were seated in the restaurant, which after having been into the other space which was bright with an amazing focal fire pit and stack was rather dark and gloomy. After our meal we requested doing some wine tasting at the cellar door, and it was explained it was in the other area (the one we had initially been into). Once we got there, we were met with a staff member who was not prepared to assist us or confirm if we could do a tasting there or not. He walked away from us. We were forced to ask another staff member who was not able to confirm this either but said they would find someone who could assist. Finally, we were informed by yet another staff member we could do wine tasting back in the restaurant we had just come from. This was disappointing given we had just been there, the space was uninviting so we decided against this, especially as it was going to cost us an additional $10 each to do the tasting, even though we had spent over $200 in their restaurant. Some of our meals were delicious but unfortunately not consistent. Apart from our main waiter, who was excellent, friendly, and very efficient we were met with too much indifference to visit again. @ladylongtail

My husband and I got married on Sunday at The Stables at Bendooley Estate. From the moment I approached the venue for our wedding, we have had a great experience after great experience. Everyone I dealt with from Kelly, Charles, Karli, Alison and Sasha, were extremely helpful, professional and genuinely cared about our wedding.
Every question I had (and I had many!) was answered promptly and I never felt like I was a burden with my questions, in fact they encouraged it.
There were no hidden fees no nasty surprises. Prices and packages were presented very clearly.
The venue itself was beautiful, set on a beautiful estate with beautiful greenery and trees surrounding the stables. It created the prefect backdrop and atmosphere for our wedding.
Every step of our wedding, including the taste testing was a breeze. The food and wine was exquisite.
Our wedding went on without a hitch, thank you so much for making our special day even more special. Thank you to each and everyone of you involved in making our wedding a day to remember.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! ❤
T. M. W.
When I saw how busy it was I didn't want to drink at the bar but Jen quickly found us a great table outside then proceeded to give us such a beautiful experience. She was so flexible when I mucked up the tasting order...and was on point on when to top up.... thankyou Jen so much. We now have wine to remind us of a lovely afternoon.. I hope your partner comes home soon
S. B.
We had a great time at this estate over lunch. The food is fantastic and the wine is sublime. Staff is very friendly and attentive. They have a wood fire oven used to make pizza and other dishes which is awesome. If you like crispy and flat pizza you'll live it here. The slow braised goat shoulder with buckwheat polenta was a standout. Everything was delicious. This is definitely a must visit if you are in area as it's worth the trip!
S. J.
We recently held our wedding at Bendooley Estate Stables. It was beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable. I would recommend this venue for your wedding in a heartbeat.
B. (. P.
We had the best time here and apparently this is the spot to be on a Sunday at lunch time! It was crowded, but not too much where you didn't feel welcome. We were able to step right up to the cellar door for a complimentary tasting of some really unique wines. They were warm, welcoming, and full of interesting information about their wines and the region. Highly recommend a stop here during your stay in the Southern Highlands!
J. M. P.
One of my absolute favourite places to photograph weddings. I've had the pleasure of capturing a ton of beautiful weddings here and these guys run such an incredibly tight ship. If you're thinking of having your wedding here I cannot recommend them highly enough.
The one site accomodation is beautiful. The staff are super helpful and my goodness the food is to die for.
V. F.
Great food and service, amazing atmosphere, highly recommend, however a booking is a Must as it gets busy. I keep going back as nothing else compares in the area for a relaxed, affordable, casual lunch with friends when they come to visit me in Bowral.
T. B.
Wonderful setting, great food & service.
V. G.
Foods were nice and the price was reasonable. A little disappointed that we had initially booked in the book barn section, but instead was laced into the bar as they were having a wedding. Apart from that it was a nice venue.
c. s.
Books and more books what a great selection. Then the food, great food. Staff were excellent and the setting is incredible amongst the vines. Fabulous place, don't pass it up if you are in the region.
J. B.
Lovely atmosphere, we were seated by a crackling fire which was perfect in a cold day. Food was very good. I had a delicious eggplant dish. There is a good range of options that are gluten and or dairy free, plus plenty for vegetarians. Importantly the coffee was great. Service was a little slow at times, but very polite. Beautiful location and lovely selection of books to browse through.
K. T.
Exquisite food, paired with delightful local wine!! Recommend sharing the Linguine with crab and the Blue cheese pizza with fruit and honey!! The Burger was flavoursome with each layer descrete. Pino Gris was so beautiful with the seafood. Service was great- with lots of help and insight into menu selections with wines. thanks Mel for your care.
G. W.
Everything here is lovely, the food, the atmosphere, the service. So many different dining sections and yet it is still very popular even on a weekday. Country comfort and homely but sophisticated too. The food portions are huge and good value for money. We shared a pizza, fries, dessert, coffee and wine for $30pp for lunch. Love that even the bathrooms have a view of the vines. Definitely worth stopping if passing by.

One of our favourite destinations in the Southern Highlands!
The grounds are always so beautiful any time of the year and maintained so well.
The cellar door is lovely with an open fireplace and a good assortment of wines.
The Book Barn has such a fantastic selection of books and local artisan crafts.
We always manage to squeeze in lunch on our visits and the food is very tasty with a good variety for all dietary requirements. With seating available inside or outside.
The event staff are the absolute best in the business and you can rest assured that your event is in the best hands with this team. They’re always professional, friendly and very efficient.
A. R.
Excellent wines, stunning location. Great experience overall. We had an especially good experience with Charles guiding us through the tasting. Knowledgeable, charming and gave us the full experience that we were looking for. Would recommend to any friend. Thanks again Charles!
M. T.
Always a great experience at bendooley, beautiful food and atmosphere.
h. m.
We waited about 40mins to order, the food was nice when it came. We were told after the meal that we had been there 2 hrs and we have to leave. We were not informed of 2 hr limit when booking. We had not been asked if we wanted dessert, the children had not received their ice cream included with children's meal. We explained this to waitress and were then permitted to order dessert. Did not appreciate the way we were spoken to.
N. P.
Wonderful wine tasting experience. Deborah was extremely accommodating and informative. Beautiful location to catch golden hour after a bit of vino
E. B.
We didn’t have a booking but walked in at 12:30 for lunch on a weekend. The table was only available for an hour which was fine by us.
However, the food took 40 minutes to come so we had 20 minutes of the hour to eat.
The food itself was amazing, not necessarily cheap but the steak for $45 was one of the best I’ve ever had. The wine selection is good and sitting by the fire was also amazing. I recommend booking!
R. N.
My friend and I went here for lunch over the long weekend. Busy as expected so it was a good thing we booked weeks before. The place has a very lovely atmosphere to it. We shared the pizza, roasted pumpkin and the semi freddo dessert. Very beautiful and exciting flavours. Generous portion as well. Staff are lovely. The place is so cosy with the fireplace and book shelves , makes you wanna stay in a little corner and make yourself comfortable! Highly recommended if you're in the Southern Highlands.

‘The best pizza’
Lovely location. Vibrant, friendly atmosphere.
Great customer service.
You have to try the pizza. I recommend the Zaa’tar pizza.
You will hear your taste buds laughing & dancing.
Add a glass of wonderful Bendooley Estate’s own wine & it’s a wonderful experience.
A great day out. A great lunch. Not to be missed.
11 April 2021
The Za'atar pizza was absolutely delicious. Delicious delicious delicious.
For dessert the Tunisian Citrus simosas were mouth watering, perfection.
Excellent friendly service.

We recently got married in the Berkelouw Book Barn and the Bendooley Estate team were an absolute dream to work with! Obviously the location is gorgeous, it is exceptionally maintained and the lake is stunning, but the real reason we picked Bendooley is the people. From our first meeting with Mark we knew we loved it. Nothing was too much of a hassle for Kelly, our Wedding Coordinator, who put together a whole new menu to suit our dietary requirements, gave us ideas for styling and recommended amazing vendors. On one of our many trips there to ‘sample the wine’ we meet Charles who was just like everyone else we dealt with – exceptionally friendly, fun and knowledgeable. We booked back into the beautiful accommodation for our 1 year anniversary the day after our wedding – we can’t get enough! Thank you everyone we had the BEST day and are so gratefully for all the effort you go to!
L. T.
We had a lovely experience today. The restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating, with a lovely fireplace inside and a most beautiful book shop. What could be more inviting?
We ordered a citrus cured buttermilk ocean trout with radish and cucumber, a linguine with blue swimmer crab, a duck ragu and for dessert, we shared the samosas with orange filling and ice cream...exquisite!!
Love the ambience and lovely surrounds. Would return
t.
Very good food. Great service. Delicious wines. You can chill outside or sit indoor among the cosy bookshelves.
l.
Sets the bar to the highest level for an Angus fillet steak. If you appreciate a perfectly cooked and flavourful Angus steak don't bother going anywhere else in the southern highlands. Pricey but worth it. Main staff are very friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable ambiance
G.
Love a stand up wine tasting when you're just cruising around from vineyard to vineyard. The staff here are lovely, and the food looks amazing, we didn't stay for lunch just a taste and by George we'll be back we will! On a lovely sunny day, this place looks ideal. I can't wait to try it out and actually drink and not have to worry about driving home :)
K. P.
Attended my 2nd wedding here over the weekend and wow. The venue is amazing. The food is amazing. The staff are amazing. The wedding was amazing!
L. L.
The aesthetic of this place is amazing. It is gorgeous, and the bookshop attached is beautiful. However, we did not receive very friendly service. We went for morning tea (arrived at 10.30, coffee begins at 10am) and were served by a very surly woman who clearly did not want to be there. When dining at a place with a reputation like Bendooley I definitely expected better service. Despite this, the coffee and cake was nice and as I said, it's such a beautiful estate it's hard not to enjoy yourself.
G. L.
Cold and blustery day outside, but warm, inviting and fulfilling inside. Friendly tasting staff who knew their wine, and others'. The books always satisfy, and we had some fun with our friends. The pizzas and linguine were amazing, and the staff friendly and helpful, even though it was a busy day. Another great experience.
A. U.
Came here for a wedding and left with a memorable gastronomic experience. The wedding ceremony was held outside on the beautifully manicured lawns amid a backdrop of scenic expansive country views (and not to mention a quaint pond with an island in the centre). For the reception, we were seated on three long tables and the three course menu provided on share plates. When the food came out, it did not disappoint; superbly cooked, quality ingredients, and to top it off the cuisine chosen was also healthy. Highly recommended..
J. C.
Very lovely staff with nice wine and a good cheese board in a lovely setting. And lovely to wander through the books after our wine tasting.
K. W.
My son and daughter-in-law had their wedding there recently. It was the most beautiful venue I've ever been to and the food and staff were simply outstanding. Thanks Bendooley, for a wonderful day and some really great memories to look back on.
S. Y.
Came just for the wine tasting, and it was not really set up for it. More of a restaurant experience. The host who did the wine tasting for us was friendly and helpful. Wines were just ok, but I bought a Rose wine which has a nice bouquet and just the right amount of sweetness. Will not recommend if you're just coming for wine tasting. Go to Centennial Vineyard for a better experience.
D. F.
Absolutely love coming to Bendooley Estate!
Firstly the food is delicious, the pizzas my favourite and the wine selection wonderful.
Secondly the event staff are absolutely sensational. Turning the book barn around from lunch service to reception dinner is a work of art they have mastered.
Highly recommend a visit to Bendooley and definitely consider having your event there.
H. S.
Fantastic venue. We went on a busy Easter weekend but despite this the staff were super friendly and the food was quick and AWESOME! The Barramundi fish of the day was one of the best I’ve ever had! What is also nice is that there is a book 📚shop attached which you can look through, great for keeping the kids entertained
E. H.
I recently held a large party at Bendooley and we were not disappointed.
The food was amazing! Our guests kept raving on afterwards about how good the food and atmospheres was.
A big thank you to Mark and to all staff at Bendooley for putting on a lovely lunch for us.
We’ll definitely be back!
C. E.
Crab linginuie is to die for. The venue is beautiful and the wine tasting experience was great, with up to 11 wines to taste. Must stop by here if you're in the Southern Highlands.
G. S. -. L. W.
This place is stunning. My husband and I were there for lunch and we felt in love. The food was amazing and great service. I can’t wait to go back.

My partner and I held our ceremony and reception at Bendooley’s Homestead Grounds and Book Barn. We could not be more thrilled with how our big day turned out! Mark, Kelly, Charles and the rest of the team helped us plan and deliver on an amazing wedding.
The ceremony grounds is a gorgeous place to get married - beneath the tree canopy and set against the lakeside backdrop made for a stunning ceremony. The reception at the book barn was exceptional, and really made for an intimate setting. Best of all was the food, from the canapes through to our selected choices in the tableshare menu (blending farmhouse and indian dishes), all of which was highly complemented by our guests!
Throughout the process, we were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism from all the staff - from the organising, communication, and execution on the day. It’s clear that the team know how to run weddings inside-out, and certainly put our mind at ease which helped us enjoy our big day.

We had a beautiful winter stay in a 2 bedroom cottage. Such a gorgeous property, great food and service in the restaurant and cellar door, stylish and modern appointed cottage with everything we needed...it was the perfect cosy setting for a night away from the kids! Thank you for such a wonderful stay and looking forward to returning again!
M. O.
Amazing food, definitely worth a trip!
J.
Beautiful winery and an amazing location. Food in the dining section is gorgeous (the boar ragu and spanner crab pasta is 10/10) and the selection of wines from the vineyard is exceptional, I’d suggest the 2017 pinot Gris with lunch and then a short stroll to the cellar door for tasting. Can’t wait to come back!

I love this place!!! The portion of food is on the large side, so make sure you have belly room. The presentation of the food is pretty, considering the budget prices for a meal. I love coming to this restaurant, it's always very busy so make sure to book at least 3 days ahead.

My most very favourite place to dine in the Southern Highlands. Very relaxing. Fabulous, friendly staff. Yummy food and great wine. Tasteful happy atmosphere and stunning gardens. In winter, a huge welcoming open fire.....and there's books, books and more books ! What more could a person want ?!

I recently got married at Bendooley Estate and I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue. Kelly, Mark and the whole team were there every step of the way. They were always in touch throughout the year of planning and were there to ask even the silliest of questions. The day itself was a dream. The setting was idyllic, the food was mouth-watering and the wedding ran so smoothly. The Bendooley team ensured my husband and I were happy throughout the whole day, bringing us champagne and canapes and they even gifted us a lovely wedding present. We stayed on site in one of the cottages which I would highly recommend, as it is stunning accommodation and so convenient. Thank you to everyone at Bendooley for giving me the wedding day of my dreams!
R.
Beautiful location and restaurant. Nice food, the sides are amazing value and definitely should be shared. Lovely lunch, in a beautiful setting. Definitely worth a visit. Loved the avocado dish!!
N. M.
Menu section wasn’t exciting! Ordered salmon, it had no flavour. Pizza was the winner for lunch. Pity I was here in April the menu was far better.
M. V.
We recently had our wedding held at Bendooley, and oh my gosh - I am so happy this was the only venue I looked at! Bookstore, outdoor wedding guaranteed - what more can I say?! (actually, a whole lot more!). WOW - just wow. What a night to remember! Thank you for helping make that the most memorable day of our lives. From start to finish, the Bendooley team were phenomenal. Kelly made planning this wedding so easy that I felt I really could have just shown up and everything would have worked out great. She was so flexible on last minute adjustments, even when out of town guests advised that they could now come! Mark (if you haven't met Mark, you soon will), is the front man - and wow, they could not have picked a better man for the job! With charisma and grace, he helped me stay calm even though I was running late, and helped my partner and I make it to the ceremony. The whole team from the running of the reception to the food, and the little things like getting us a slice of cake, was amazing. The owners are truely gracious for opening up their homestead to the public for weddings, and it will hold many fond memories for many, many years to come. XOX

High quality food, great setting - 5 star potential. However, our wait staff had a terrible attitude, was rude, with poor etiquette, and at times was blatantly ignoring us - 1 star quality. We are an annoying family, but we are polite, and nothing we did warranted such treatment.
Great place; mostly great staff.
V.
I love this place! Everything is so tasty and yum. I wish they had more choice for mains. Dessert was fabulous.
J. S.
Bendooley offer a beautiful environment for friends and family, a comprehensive wine tasting, and hearty meals. The Pinot Gris was my pick 🍾
R. B.
Our favourite spot. We had our wedding here and came back for our one year anniversary. Food and wine is amazing. The Blue Cheese, apple and grape pizza was so good!
J. 0.
Beautiful, sparse, yet grim is the character of the landscape. Complete with tesla charging station so you know what kind of "cultured Syndeyite" you are dealing with as the general patron of the Bendooley Estate/ Book Barn.
A wide and versatile selection of books, both new and old. Specialising in Freudian commentary of Sydney's most upper middle class suburbs. Walking away with a copy of 'The lustful behaviour of Willoughby mum's' was a highlight.
Two stars deducted for the service when asking for two glasses of reisling. The service was a cold and numb as the climate outside. They made you feel like you were a child of Herr Fritzle, only allowed to enjoy the dirty liqour of the cellar door.
If you wish to wear a winter coat, stand in the mist of the vineyards, contemplate all the sweaty murders some protagonist in your memory committed in South East Asia, this could be your place.
It's James Bond in his downtime, without as much finesse, manners or consent. Still nice though.
L. T.
Delicious food prepared from fresh produce, by a talented chef and kitchen staff, served by congenial wait staff. Will definitely be back again with the ladies and sooner with my husband, so that he can experience the food, wine, books and lovely setting.
A. M.
I love this place, the smell if the books, the great country location, all the wooden architecture and that warm fireplace. Great place and also a great selection of books.
J. C.
Amazing spots, amazing food, lovely wine. Great atmosphere, can't wait to go back!
j. b.
we went for a say drive to berrima and found this place. Good ambience, nice place hidden in this plains. Good was very nice, staff are friendly. We will definitely go back!
S. J.
Lovely place for lunch on Easter weekend. Tasty food and friendly service. Cured Kingfish recommended!
K.
Beautiful place to go. It has the works!! Accommodation, bookstore, restaurant, winery and a wonderful view! Definitely will be back!!
M. B.
Very comfortable, lovely room, great venue. Wish there had been an electric blanket. Loved the breakfast except there was no Vegemite for the toast. Food at the wedding was beautiful.
L. G.
Took my wife here for our 10th wedding anniversary surprise lunch. The place is amazing as was the food. The staff were able to accommodate my special requests with little fuss. Thanks guys!
P. M.
Visited for lunch with family staff friendly waited 45mins for lunch at 2.15, meals good only disappointment was that the cheeseburger was not cooked thru meat was still raw. Meals reasonable priced, location great
P. J.
I had an amazing Birthday lunch with family and a few friends! Thank you to Mark and all the staff for absolutely delicious food and service you made my day special and memorable!
L. L.
Beautiful estate, lovely building, artworks, relaxing place to be. Wonderful helpful staff. We arrived in the late afternoon, but the staff made some lovely coffees and made us feel welcomed. A gem in Berrima just 10min drive from Bowral town centre.
A. M.
Awesome idea, food amongst books, in a beautiful vineyard setting. Pricey food but justified! Weak points: They weren't able to effectively manage table reservations, and one dish (chicken skewers) was plated in a way that made it genuinely hard to eat.
M. N.
Enjoyed lunch here today. I ordered the eye fillet with a Shiraz. Both were delicious and I sat outside in the sun.
B. R.
Amazing and interesting place just of the highway. Great food and snack variety. Huge car park and very family and pet friendly
L. C.
Monday late lunch. Loved the decor. Service very relaxed and friendly. Food was delicious.
Will definitely be back...

Best Pinot Noir in the Highlands!
The 2015 Bendooley Estate Pinot Noir currently available for tasting is uber smooth, give it a go!
The Bendooley estate complex is very well set out and the staff are very welcoming for wine tastings even when busy with running the restaurants and function areas.
The bookstore is a great concept, the artworks are well done and the fireplaces give the wide open spaces a cosy feeling.
Very easy to reach from Berrima or Bowral.
B. C.
Had an amazing dinner. The eye fillet was 👌, and the spicy date pudding awesome. Highly recommended
S. H.
Lovely place to eat. Nice country vibes and good location to take nice photos at. Food was good too.
C. T.
Great views, bar and bookstore.
A. J.
What will you experience here? Well, great food and wine, a cozy fireside dining area surrounded by books, a restaurant manager with a daring sense of humour, and a wonderful view from the toilets. Book ahead; try the burger!
w. y.
Loads of good wines. $5 for tasting. It is so popular that you should expect to wait a bit to get to taste the wines. Use that time to go around the place for a wander.
S. M.
Most meals were great except for steaks. No cocktails??? No mocktails???
T. N.
Once a two level book barn crammed with used books. These days the restaurant is the real money spinner. The books are relegated either side. In between, outside and aroumd the back are rambles of dinners, gleaming wine glasses and the smell of cooked food.
S. R.
Absolutely gorgeous venue and staff were professional. The blue cheese pizza is delicious
g. b.
We have been here several times and have always had excellent food with local wines and a great setting
C. O.

HAD LUNCH YESTERDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2019 WITH WIFE AND TWO FRIENDS CELEBRATING THEIR 80TH BIRTHDAY. WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE AMBIENCE, DECOR, COURTESY AND COMPETENCE OF STAFF, AND OF COURSE, THE MEAL WAS SUPER. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE. WELL DONE BENDOOLEY ESTATE!

Went to this estate for a wedding ...a beautiful country wedding venue .. ceremony held in the gardens by a lake .. reception in the book barn which was a mass of flowers and lots of timber high ceilings .. wheelchair accessible ... but some help needed at outside ceremony ... a great atmosphere, beautiful food and very good service .. during the day it is a resaurant when no weddings are taking place ...
R. L.
Location is lovely, the food is amazing and close day trip to Sydney
L. J.
Beautiful place for lunch but I would have thought this isn't the place to bring children, but it was packed with them! Otherwise, nice service, friendly staff, quality meals

Wonderful venue, great food, excellent service.
L.
The food at Bendooley Estate is out of this world, and of course the wine too. The grounds alone are worth going to the Estate for.
P. S.
food was ok, way understaffed though which meant diners were left almost abandoned for long stretches, while people would stand up from tables to find wait staff
f.
Attended a wedding here. Very aesthetic and quaint venue with books lining the shelves and rustic floors and ceiling.
C. H.
Great place to visit food is expensive but yummy.
P. O.
Our team have been filming wedding photos and videos there many times, a gorgeous place to host a wedding.
