Came here for my SO's birthday on 18 Dec. We ordered the rump steak(?), cauliflower, broccolini, and the crab cakes. I'm not a steak person but it was flavourful and tender so I'd recommend you give it a try if you like steaks. And just wanna shout out to the band performing live on that day, you guys rocked!

No wonder why they have such revving review! I had such pleasure dining at Bopp and Tone today with my dear friend whom i havent seen for months this afternoon (lunch)…The dishes were all amazing, my martini and margarita were top notch and this petite elegant looking asian lady with a short hair who appeared to be a manager on duty was so pleasing and provided us with anticipatory service (e.g. there was water spill on table, without us asking she appeared from no where, and wiped it cleaned and disappeared in a discreet yet friendly way)…I cant wait to go back to try other dishes and other cocktails ( traditional)…

My boyfriend and I dined at Bopp and Tone last night. It was meant to be a treat for the both of us and it sure was a treat. We had the rump cap and the Wagyu sirloin, both were beautiful but definitely get the Wagyu if you had to choose between the too. They both were smoky and had a nice crust because they were grilled with a wood oven. The wood oven itself can be seen from the dining room, so it created a nice toasty environment which was perfect since it was a cold night. I will have to definitely return for lunch since it's also dog friendly with the terrace. Thank you for your hospitality.

The place to go for steak. Partner and I shared the 1kg bistecca, the meat was super flavoursome, had a deliciously smokey crust, and perfectly seasoned. Asked for med rare and it came out half med rare with some parts very rare - but that’s understandable with a t bone, you have to allow for some variation throughout the steak and I like that they erred on the side of rare. Calamari was underwhelming and rubbery, but spiced slaw was outstanding, full of juicy flavour. The booth seating inside was the best, very comfortable, enjoyed the lovely vibe and tunes. Our waitress made some great recommendations, unpretentious and friendly. We will be back

My date stood me up so I thought I’d treat myself to something special. And oh my god… I am so glad I chose Bopp and Tone. First and foremost A-grade customer service. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, made me feel super welcome. I ordered oysters, shoe string fries and the rump and each were equally as delicious as the next. Like if Google would allow me to exclaim I would. The most surprising dish were the fries (just because I usually don’t expect much from shoe string fries but they were delicious (not to say the rump and oysters didn’t blow my mind)) Delicious selection of wine, and you get your money’s worth with the cocktails. I had the olive leaf gin cocktail and the espresso martini. Both very strong and full of flavour. Not what I’m used to that’s for sure Great ambiance and really nice vibes

I would give the ambiance and the interior of this restaurant a 5. The comfortable seating and the lighting is top notch. A place you want to enjoy. The food is well presented and the portions are good but did not wow. The staff were nice enough but it felt in the end that a big tip was expected. The waiter’s mood changed immediately at the end when he didn’t get one and it was like a cold snap. We don’t have a tipping culture in Australia - we pay staff decent wages and have super high taxes. A customer’s experience should not be dampened because of this expectation to tip. We ordered a lot of food - entre, main , dessert but that didn’t seem enough. A bit disappointed by the attitude - don’t think I’ll be back.

A stylish interior with an equally impressive menu. I dined in with a friend for lunch, which was on the higher end for price—but we didn’t mind the slightest considering the food and service was impeccable. My only note would be to include more dessert options, of the 3 that were on the menu, only one was available at the time we dined in for lunch. Other than this slight downfall, I couldn’t fault my experience overall. Will definitely be back again!

Came here on the back of good google reviews and and excellent looking menu and atmosphere. We were not disappointed. The oysters were the freshest we've ever had, ice cold and juicy, we wished we'd ordered more. The steak was to die for, drizzled in drool worthy butter, with crispy potatoes the perfect accompaniment. What really makes this place stand out is the staff, they look genuinely happy to be there and eager to please. No request was annoying and they were incredibly knowledgeable, even regarding the extensive gin list. Helena was a one in a million waitress. We had the best night in a long time here, thanks Bopp and Tone we will be back!

Had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. Booked for 5.30 on Saturday evening, but an unexpected trip to ED meant we were going to be 2 hrs late. No problem for the very accommodating staff who saved our table until we arrived. The wait staff were attentive without being overbearing. And the food was a whole other level. The steaks (wagu & rump) were the best we've eaten. Highly recommended.

We had the soul Saturday deal at $99 for a lunch with unlimited mimosa, Prosecco and beers - It was definitely value for money! The food here was amazing and strangely my fave callout was probably the cauliflower. The flavours were amazing! Add in the unlimited alcohol for 2 hours and it’s definitely a top afternoon :)

Good for a delicious night out, the food came out really quickly, was delicious and there was a great ambience in the dining area. The staff are pretty attentive and are quick with requests like listing ingredients and filleting the fish. The roast eggplant with sweet tahini is delicious and will get again, and the butter and leek snapper was pretty filling. I would recommend at least one other side to share and level out the flavours.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the middle of the CBD. The service was second to none. I don't usually remember waitresses names when dining but Eve would be one of the best. The food tantalised my taste buds. I needed more stomach to consume what I ordered. The wine, steak, potatoes and cauliflower seemed to compliment each other perfectly making sure my appetite wanted and needed more. I highly recommend this restaurant if your wanting to make an impression on that special someone in your life/lives. The service is impressive, you won't be waiting a long time from entrees, mains and desserts. It's reasonally priced, above average but you're really paying for an culinary experience not a pub meal. By the way don't forget to make yourself known to the head chef, a very approachable guy. If I was to sum up in 1 word my review it would be BOOM

Entrees were smoked salmon croquettes and grilled king prawns. They were both delicious but price is a little high for what you get. We had Wagyu steak and pork chop as main which were great and both worth the price point. Wagyu was at $95 and porkchop around $36 Salad and greens were also nice, fresh and tasty for the brocollinis. Great cocktails and extensive wine list. Service was a little slow at the end asking for bills.

My absolute favourite is the kingfish crudo, so fresh and zingy; closely followed by the salt cod fritters. But everything we had was perfect. The breasola is like butter in your mouth and the cocktails are pretty yummy too. I just love the sixties Rat Pack vibe of the place and will definitely keep returning.

The short version: Go here! The long version: The wife and I had an impromptu date night on a Thursday night and whilst it was quiet in the city, this place had a reasonable number of guests. The music is funky but chilled and the decor is a mix of old school and industrial. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food simply put, is delicious. We had 6 rock oysters, baked mozzarella on lemon myrtle leaves and prosciutto Parma for entree. The steak for main was perfectly cooked medium rare and the missus was enjoying 3 squids that were cooked al dente (yes I had sampled it). Two pineapple rizz’s and a pash the magic dragon beer (local sour brew...but not too sour) later and we were done and dusted. No room for dessert, but we were seriously tempted. Bopp & Tone please note, we will be back.

Totally impressed from the time we walked in to when we left. Recommended by The Butler, I was looking for a lunch venue with music to celebrate a girlfriends 60th birthday! To my surprise found you offered a bottomless 2 hour lunch. Greeted by a our waitresses, sadly her name escapes me, was absolutely brilliant! Having been to a few bottomless brunch/lunches you guys kill it!! 10/10 food & service & to top if off "live" music, we could DANCE!! Overall a decent but not memorable meal for the cost. Entrees: Mozzarella seemed like they used Coles brand Mozzarella as it was just as hard & chunky and very cold, kind of ruining that dish. Eggplant was fantastic, amazing tahini flavours. Pipi Risotto was quite sour but lots of flavour. Mains: Travela was cooked perfectly, felt the capers with rock salt overpower it with saltiness. Ribeye was requested medium rare, unfortunately approaching medium to well except for in the middle. Steak was covered in sauce which was super tasty but would have preferred sauce on side to let the meat shine. Sides: Heirloom tomato was delish, loved the olives. Roasted cauliflower was too dry, some sort of sauce would have helped, but used the excess steak sauce instead. Service: Friendly but mixed bag; had to ask to get more drinks, menus not being taken away on small tables with not much room, not knowing which beer I had previously etc. Not what you expect at this price point. With so much choice for modern aussie cuisine, not sure we'll be back as we've had better experiences elsewhere at the same high price. Looking at other reviews, maybe just an off night for the venue or perhaps my tastes are not for everyone :)

Great old style cocktail bar in the heart of the CBD. Located opposite Wynyard station and bus stops it is certainly easy to get to and find. A substantial amount of seating both inside and out on the wrap around balcony, it won’t take long to find a seat. A great selection of cocktails and wine to suit all pallets. A great place for drinks after work.

Booked kind of last minute and got placed outside, the venue was absolutely beautiful and we truly enjoyed it. Our server, Jenna I believe was her name, was honestly the best server I've ever been served by, so polite, funny and quick witted, also handled the kind of rowdy bunch next to us very well. As happens so often, it was excellent when it opened and is now just another CBD restaurant. Go here for business lunches if you don't need to impress (with food), and don't care about cost. The ambiance is conductive to work chats. Service is excellent albeit the food comes out slightly slow. Food wise it is hit and miss. You can get a beautifully cooked Trevalla, but then the meat might be sub par, and vice versa. I found the prawns to be over seasoned with garlic. Basic mistake. Prices are standard within CBD with a main being $40.

Great atmosphere, awesome food. I could give 5 star but.... There were a Indian male waiter with mustache has really bad breath. His bad breath really grossed me out whenever he approached to my table. Not only him on that day. There were one Asian lady hosting us (looks like one of manager in that restaurant) then I could feel bad breath from her and could not breathing in front of her while checking my reservation. Then after sit my table I thought it will be over and I assumed maybe she talk too much today. However, it was not the end of breath holing on that day as he had worse breath smells. Don’t understand what happen to their staffs. Clean and tidy appearance is basic attitude in hospitality that I expect but maybe lack of staff training or their manager did not checking on detail I guess. I hope I could visit in near future and I don’t want to take another breath holding in restaurant. Or I need to bring some eclipse for staffs. So 3stars is more than fair for me.

Had a birthday date here and could not speak highly enough of the experience. The restaurant was busy but not so loud you have to yell to have a conversation. Service was quick, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Went for the brunch with soul. The drinks were certainly flowing and the surroundings were classy but for $110 (10% surcharge on groups more than 8) the quantity of food was very disappointing. The whole party left hungry and we had to get pizza at our next bar. It would probably be more cost effective just to pay as you go rather than selecting the brunch 'deal'.

Bopp & Tone is an incredible restaurant with a great laid-back ambience. We were seated outside and the outdoor verandah was beautifully decorated with plants and lights. Their custom dishware was so shiny and clean. The waiter who looked after our table was so kind to go through the menu and the specials of the night. The John Dory fish was the best I have ever tasted and Wagyu Flank Steak was divine. They also have so many wines, cocktails, and champagne to choose from! We arrived at 6:30pm and by 7:30pm we had finished the entrees and main with the table cleared an all. The second (seriously .. it was less than 5secs) the entrees were finished and cleared, the main was served. I felt a bit rushed to finish my food. The food was quite nice though so definitely compliments to the chef. Wine was good. Not great. A bit pricey for what its worth. Although the service was good, I would have appreciated if they had given us some time to digest the entrees before the main was served. As for ambiance - we went to celebrate our wedding anniversary - but the ambiance just felt - not right. The strong smell of cooked barbecue, the noise .. in other words, not a good place for a romantic evening. The restaurant is decorated nicely but it did not have a nice romantic feel ..more / practical anything else. Good for friends catching up or large groups.

Beautiful interiors and warm ambience, backed by attentive (but not overbearing) service, delicious drinks (if you're a fan of sweet cocktails that are not just pure sugar, try the Apricot Cobbler) and superb food. The only dish I would have a suggestion for out of the ones I ordered was the duck - as it's such a rich protein, it would benefit from a hit of acidity to prevent it from straying too much into dessert territory (maybe instead of the cherry sauce which is quite jam-like in taste, a sour cherry sauce with a thinner consistency might be better?). Overall, a lovely experience and a restaurant I would recommend.

We dined at Bopp & Tone last night for my husbands birthday, and it was our favourite dinner we have ever had. Our waitress Bunny was so helpful and lovely, and the atmosphere was intimate and fun at the same time. Our food was incredible - in particular the prawns/oysters were packed with flavour, the octopus was the most delicious main we’ve ever had, and the choc + raspberry dessert was the best dessert I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant any higher, it was just the perfect night. Thanks for a great experience!

The food we had were: Buffalo mozzarella - 7/10 Tuna / Fish sashimi - 9/10 Prawn butterflied - 10/10 Special salad - 10/10. I can't remember the exact ingredients however it worked perfectly. The right mix of vegatables, fruits, berries / nuts and a cheese Tomahawk Steak - 7/10. This should have been the highlight, however the steak was cooked unevenly. Some parts of it were cooked perfectly, however we found some parts of it undercooked. Chef's special potato's - 10/10 - this was a crowd favourite. Mixed vegetables - 8/10. We visited Bopp & Tone for dinner on Friday 18th September. The restaurant was quite busy and we were greeted by a friendly host who allowed us to take a seat at our table even though we were 15 min early. Our waiter was Jacob who was very efficient and quite a nice young man even for if he does support the Baltimore Ravens (Go Washington!). We ordered the buffalo Mozzarella and Salt Cod Fritters for entrees. Both meals were delicious. We had the Ribeye and Rump Cap for mains which were both cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. All of the sides on the menu looked very tempting and we would have loved to try them all but we settled for the fried Cauliflower and roast potatoes which were both very tasty. The wine menu is extensive with lots of choices across most varieties of wine. The Restaurant has a cool vibe and is spacious and it was a real pleasure to sit and take in the atmosphere. We enjoyed it there so much we ordered deserts and desert wine to finish off. Overall a great restaurant and I highly recommend it.

We ordered the steak tartare (which I've never had before), trevalla, Wagyu flank steak and Buffalo mozzarella. The Buffalo mozzarella was nice, the trevalla was ok but didn't seem seasoned and portion was small, the flank steak was ok but a little chewy and the steak tartare I thought was very plain. Never having had eaten it before I asked my friend if that's how it's supposed to be and he agreed that it was plain and basically like eating steak mixed in egg yolk. The range of beers and wines was nice though. For the prices that they charge I expected better food.

New entrance off Carrington Street opens into a post modern war interior, warm wooden undertones, comfortable booths, green palm foliage gives almost a botanic feel. A+++ class stylish restaurant that caters for the astute business man & relaxed towny. I must also mention the lavatories have been fully updated, spacious and clean. Bopp & Tone highly recommend.

Opening night was an opportunity to see the unveiling of the space as one of the city’s newest destination for after work drinks and dinner. Open spaces, natural light and an alfresco deck will play host to after work drinks and summer dinners with a menu of Mediterranean influence. Share food is the name of the game here. Seafood dishes range from $26-$29 with whole fish options at seasonal market prices. You’ll find the same exotic sourcing in Wagyu Flank ($53), MB3 Rib Eye $46), MB2 Sirloin ($38) and a monstrous 1kg Brooklyn Valley Bistecca for $135! They pride themselves on offering a sustainable selection of produce while offering a high end experience in meal options of wood grill and charcoal oven. Accompaniments (Sides) at just $8-$10 add that extra richness to your meal. The opening night was a showcase of dishes reminiscent of the A ‘La Carte menus and functions menus. The venue thriving at full potential with a feature piece grazing table, fresh seafood, wood fire opened and chargrilled meats as 300 palettes were delighted with the style of cooking one could expect in a full dining experience. The wine list is in keeping with the theme with some of the most prominent vineyards at the forefront of sustainable production. The flare of Mediterranean seeps into their cocktail list also with some clever innovations. One stand out from opening night was their signature Raspberry Aperol spritz. We asked the chef if we could have a tasting plate of the cold cuts and his reply was that we could, but only if we, “paid full price for all of the plates!” A simple “no, sorry” would have sufficed yet he felt the need to insult us instead. This put a blemish on what could have been a very pleasant anniversary dinner. It’s such a shame to have a perfectly good evening ruined by a lack of manners by staff. So be warned, maybe don’t come here for a romantic date night.
