We dined at Cappello for NYE and we were really happy with the food and the service. We ordered almost all the entrees and among these octopus and Bufala were the ones that stood out for me the most. My Risotto with Mushroom and truffle oil was seriously good, I asked to swap the salmon with Prosciutto and it worked beautifully, portions were massive as well. My Partner ordered the duck and he said it was amazing. Desserts were also very good! I will come back to try their pizza as well!

We had a lovely birthday dinner here. The service, food and atmosphere were great and we'll definitely come back. We made a mistake and ordered non-vegetarian pizza instead of the non-meat one. The waitress was graceful and didn't charge us. Overall a very good experience.

We tried three pizzas, the one with pear in it was the most special and delicious one. Tiramisu was the best among the desserts we orders, which was soft, creamy and balanced well with coffee and wine. To be honest, Cappello is the top rated Italian restaurant on Zomato, but it is not that perfect compared with its high rating.

I have dined a Cappello recently with my partner, this little cozy place was great. Last time We were there I had the Eye Filet with potatoes and truffle sauce: mind blowing. The meat was super tender and juicy, the sauce perfectly creamy and balanced, so that you can taste the truffle as well as the meat; my girlfriend had the pizza and that was another great surprise. Service was attentive, never miss a chance to check on us In a very professional and kind way, never intrusive. Cappello became one of our favorite restaurant, highly recommend. Looking forward to try new dishes. Well deserved 5 stars

A neighbourhood gem. A cosy, rustic sandstone restaurant and the smell of the wood fired pizza oven immediately greet you. This place is perfect as the weather gets cooler. Friendly, prompt service and exceptional food. Tagliatelle marinara was beautifully cooked, with plenty of seafood. Pizza dough is faultless with charred, crisp bases, and fresh, rich toppings. A well priced and interesting beer and wine selection too.

Lovely restaurant. Has additional seating upstairs. Recommend to make a reservation. Short walk from Balmain East wharf if you catch the ferry from Circular Quay. The rissotto and Capello pizza were served to share and was delicious. Great selection of wines which can be ordered by the glass. The toilet is located upstairs and was clean.

Beautiful restaurant, atmosphere and staff. Service was amazing (in particular the wonderful waitress Valentina) all the way to the kitchen including the chef! The food is outstanding especially the pizza in particular the Bufalina and Calzone! This is a almost hidden gem of Balmain that I cannot recommend enough!!

Tried this place a few times and last visit was the best yet. Good choice of pizzas and pastas with specials. We enjoyed everything our group of 4 tried. Very busy doing take-away pizzas. Wine list is limited - but you can BYO anyway. Service was good.Value was excellent.

Great place for a romantic dinner or small group. It's got some of the best Italian I've had in Sydney, with excellent imported Italian wine to match. Great staff too. It's a real hidden gem that mostly only locals seem to know of.

Warmth. An idea that is probably exacerbated by the fact that I tend to visit Cappello on cold nights, but nonetheless this quaint restaurant exudes it. From the colour of the lighting to food and yes the temperature, this place is warm. Don't let that discourage you from visiting on a balmy summers night, the cuisine is quality all year round. It is typical Italian in the types of meals ie. pizza, pasta and the like, but it sets itself apart with flavour and character. The staff do their best and are at the very least kind and do the best to provide you with a comfortable meal. It is suitable for both romantic dinners for 2 or small groups and is located in a lovely quiet part of Sydney, but be warned there is very little in the way of parking. Worth venturing a little out of the way for.

Appetizers: Soft and delicate burrata, accompanied by warm and crunchy croutons spread on a bed of caponata; the latter far from being called as such. Excellent cooking of the angus and also excellent tuna sauce on which it was placed, overall an excellent dish. Good pizza, wood-fired with tasty and quality ingredients. Good gnocchi shame about the overcooked risotto drowned in oil. The eye fillet is good but sadly served. Good desserts and really well decorated. Very inattentive staff; for two different courses we had to ask for cutlery to eat. Overall the restaurant deserves it. (Original) Il ristorante si presenta carino e curato,gli ingredienti delle pietanze sembrano essere stati di qualità.. Antipasti: Morbida e delicata burrata,accompagnata da caldi e croccanti crostini di pane stesi su un letto di caponata;quest'ultima lontana dall'essere chiamata come tale. Ottima la cottura dell'angus e ottima anche la salsa tonnata su cui era adagiata,nel complesso un ottimo piatto. Pizza buona,cotta a legna con ingredienti saporiti e di qualità. Gnocchi buoni peccato per il risotto scotto e annegato nell'olio. L'Eye fillet buono ma tristemente impiattato. Dolci buoni e veramente ben decorati. Personale molto distratto;per due portate diverse abbiamo dovuto chiedere le posate per mangiare. Nel complesso il ristorante merita.
