Comments of Capriccio Osteria

Delicious food with excellent service. I fell in love with the outdoor street dining setting - there were lots of tables outside, music, and good vibes. The pasta was nice and firm and the saffron and mozzarella arancini was a highlight.

OMG! One of the best Italian food.
Fabulous woodfired pizza, pastas and my most favourite oysters, plus wine!
Dined here with my best friend last year before lockdown and had the most amazing experience.
The food was so delicious that we are keep going back with such a little excuses !!
Michele is such a great host , friendly and his crew has it all sorted . Very kind and great service indeed .
Highly recommended.
🤩🥳

Great Woodfired pizza and handmade pasta!!! We had the Salciccia pizza and it was a real standout, I cannot recommend it enough! The pasta was handmade and fresh, you can taste the difference. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely come again.

Consistently excellent food, service and overall experience. Great atmosphere whether for groups or date night. Best Italian restaurant in the inner west.
S. A.
We had a margarita pizza and half litter of house wine. It was simply delicious and decanter for wine was pretty. The staff was friendly too. We had a good time here.

Bellini, cocktails and fresh pasta .. what’s not to love !
Our last visit in June was great - friendly, professional staff - Capriccio Osteria highly recommended if you want to try fabulous authentic Italian food for groups, couples or just with your mates !
Our choice - saffron capanelle pasta with red wine beef shins, margarita pizza and salad options were so tasty ! Desserts (we had 3 :) !) - brûlée, affogato and pannacotta not to mention the rosemary focaccia was a must !

Leichhardt is known as being the hub of the Italian community so I expected a really good Italian feast at this place... and boy did they deliver.
A pop of yellow in the decor brings happiness to the place. They have indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an upstairs section. It got pretty busy during our time there and it was filled with all kinds of diners.. friends, couples and families with young kids. Though the place was busy, the owner still managed to come and have a chat with us which was lovely.
The menu had just the right variety of dishes that could cater to anyone. They do encourage to share which is what I always do, because you get to experience so many different flavours and it keeps the dining experience exciting.
We ordered half a dozen of the ‘Sydney Rock Oysters with lemon, lime & Vodka granita’, ‘Beef Carpaccio’, ‘Duck liver parfait’, ‘Zucchini Flowers’, ‘Squid ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab’ and ‘Roasted Dutch carrots with honey whipped feta, salsa verde & roasted chickpeas’. Each dish was presented beautifully and across different types of colourful plates.
I was a huge fan of the pasta dish. It was my first time having squid ink spaghetti and it had a good kick of chilli in it too. However, the Beef Carpaccio was the winning dish of the night.

We had a top notch lunch here last weekend. Handmade pasta and just like Italy. Delicious vegetables and a cheeky cannoli for dessert. Nice service. Al fresco seating. What’s not to love?
M. W.
Lovely little Italian restaurant. We had the large set menu and it was honestly more food than you can possible eat. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The owner is so unbelievably nice, loved a chat and served our table several rounds of Lemonchello on the house. We will be back!
K. W.
Only good food found here, from the focaccia to the cheesecake this place is worthy of a visit if you want to try some good Italian cuisine. Expect to find a casual, friendly atmosphere with a decent menu, perfectly poured cocktails, a laid back al fresco vibes great for weekend lunches, family outings and groups.
We ordered the chefs selection, which is a little bit of everything that is a variety of dishes that will offer you a well rounded experience to what Capriccio Osteria has to offer, this includes (in pics attached) oysters, focaccia, stuffed zucchini, oxheart tomatoes, carpaccio, and of course pizza and pasta.
What I loved the most about Capriccio Osteria is the passion and philosophy behind the product. I found that quality of the produce and taste remained consistent throughout each dish, and while I enjoyed everything relatively equally the exceptional standouts for me was the focaccia and oxheart tomato salad. While I’m not normally a fan of bread, the focaccia was so incredibly light and moreish I will absolutely come back if nothing else but this, and the tomato salad was so fresh it felt like eating straight from the garden. A strong start is led by delicious finish with a homemade cheesecake that despite looking heavy and rich is actually quite light and yet so creamy.
While Italian cuisine lovers are spoiled for choice in Leichhardt, Capriccio Osteria is locally loved, tried and true, and with Michele around it will still be there for the years to come.

My favourite Italian restaurant of all time, not just in Sydney. Every single visit has been memorable and the service faultless 😍 the owner Michele makes you feel like you've come home and his limoncello is to die for! Book an outside table on a balmy evening - promise you'll wonder why you didn't find this place sooner!
J. C.
Perfect place and excellent food! The service is amazing too and love the vibe! I had a remarkable night there so shout out to all the staff for the amazing dinner! 😆😆 Would definitely come back again!
A. T.
Overall a very enjoyable lunch. Very friendly service, good outdoor seating, and some outstanding dishes. The rosemary and salt focaccia was so good we reordered seconds. Would also definitely come back for the beef shin Ragu campanelle, and for the homemade gelato. Unfortunately we found the prawn rigatoni with XO sauce to be slightly bland and watery.
Would come back again on a nice sunny day to give it a second try.
H. K.
Solid Italian food - enjoyed everything we ordered! Focaccia was simple done well - very fresh, soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy outside! We got La Collina for pizza - the lamb and fresh rosemary were a perfect match, and most importantly the dough was divine and got us excited to come back and try other pizzas. Saffron Campanelle with roast duck was very different but worked well. One of the highlights would have to be the dessert - their baked ricotta cheesecake is a must try! It’s dense in texture like ny style cheesecake but so creamy and light in your mouth! Would definitely be returning soon!

You just need to scroll down and look at the other reviews to see the delicious food. I’m showing you the result of a fabulous night at Capriccio. Empty wine glasses and dinner plates. Can you give a rating of 11/10? This deserves it

Randomly find this one on Saturday night, great food and can be one of the best pizzas and pastas in Sydney. Ordered Margarita, Modena and Lamb pizza, with squid ink spaghetti and beetroot & ricotta ravioli. Also ordered zucchini flowers and beef carpaccio. All taste really good! Only recommendation would be the background is a bit too noisy with music and people talking, a bit more cosy would be better. Also, waiter took the wrong order and send stuff we didn’t order is lack of professionalism but they are very kind and welcoming. Overall, I would come again for the great pizzas and pastas!
Received follow up call from the owner, appreciated the attitude of him!
P. T.
This restaurant has just amazing food, the pizzas were absolutely delicious and the focaccia was also very good. The staff were very kind and treated us very well, will definitely be returning soon. This is a must go place!
H. T.
Nice place, really liked the atmosphere. We had the crab squid ink pasta, the Capricciosa pizza, and the roast duck/zucchini pasta (not in pics).
The squid ink pasta was my favourite! It was really tasty.
The Capricciosa had a great chewy dough but we found it a bit bland. The toppings were good though.
The roast duck pasta was a bit underwhelming, it was more bland than we expected, but it’s a good choice if you’re looking for something more on the lighter side.
We got -50% off the bill from the Fork festival, so it was a great deal!
L. D.
Went there for a late snack. Two of us shared a variety of 'share plates' and a glass of wine. Quality ingredients beautifully put together. Lovely true Italian atmosphere. Attentive staff. Vibrant, happy and buzzy place. Great to hear Italian being spoken by the staff. Good coffee to finish with and you MUST try the pistachio liquor.

We came here a couple weeks ago for a dinner with friends. It was pretty busy but we got a seat quite quickly! The only comment I’d make is that the manager (Or the guy who seemed to be in charge?) seemed a bit pre-occupied. For example, on multiple occasions (when we were standing outside waiting to be seated), he would start talking to us, then suddenly go off to talk to someone else or quickly serve someone). I wasn’t too bothered but I found it a bit strange.
In terms of the food, we got the:
- focaccia: it was the perfect texture and had a good mix of flavours
- arancini: I always love arancini and this one was great. Very cheesy :)
- saffron campanelle pasta: highly recommend this. It seems pretty unique and the flavours mixed well together. I particularly liked the addition of the currants. The duck was also nice
- prosciutto, rocket and fig pizza: this wasn’t too bad but I feel like the ratio of rocket to the other toppings was a bit unbalanced. There seemed to be a limited amount of fig on each slice.
Overall, it was a nice experience and I would go again. Recommended for a smaller group of friends :)

Restaurant chefs reproduce the same menu every day, often for long stretches of time, so they often relish the opportunity to flex their skills on something different. Capriccio Osteria chef, Nicole Bampton, recently took us on an Escape to the South of Italy ($125/head). This 6–course menu kicked off with scallop and artichoke arancini. Each course was expertly matched to an Italian tipple, my favourite being the opening 2018 Possente Abir Zibibo from Northern Sicily. It’s from the Moscato family but has a lovely maritime lick.
The fluffy, wood-fired (only) calzone with its 48-hour fermented dough created by owner Michele Rispoli was quite pecial. Rispoli used his Italian connections and the closure time generated by COVID-19 to learn pizza-making. Filled with swiss chard, mozzarella and pine nuts with raisins providing sweet little bursts, it tastes much healthier than most pizzas! As we moved through orecchiette and eggplant parmigiana, I began to regret my second piece of wonderful calzone, because the meal highlight is of course Bampton’s wonderful crisp-skinned suckling pig. Paraded through the restaurant whole then sliced in the kitchen, and drizzled with gravy at the table, it was moist and juicy, showing that those Sardinians really know exactly how to handle pig.
While I was too full for dessert, I was allowed to bag up my orecchiette with cime di rapa, broccoli, anchovy, chilli and pecorino cheese for lunch the next day. Bellissimo!

This was my second visit. The service is very warm and energetic, I am reminded of the Tuscany region (think Sienna and Florence) whilst here. The house wines are actually very good, and the food comes out quickly and is perfect for sharing. I love the focacia, heirloom tomato salad, and all their house made pastas. This place is outstanding, I can't wait to go back for a third visit.
A. A.
Food was fantastic. Young lady that went out of her way to find us a great bottle of wine even more wonderful. Main water was a bit OTT needs to calm down.
V.
A delectable meal indeed, coupled with great service and wonderful atmosphere!
Highly recommend their freshly baked focaccia, beef capriccio and saffron campanelle.
H. L.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and lovely service. Had lunch on a Sunday.
A. T.
Great Italian cuisine with the various high-quality fresh seafood ingredients.
Served in a nice little restaurant.
The Vongole pasta is a little bit salty.
Garlic bread is very tasty.
the price is target high but it is expected for the food type.
J. C.
Wonderful, dinner last night was super tasty. I made an error on my part with the ordering which was quickly resolved to my surprise - I was expecting to have to take away given that I felt like I had over ordered. The staff are very friendly and welcoming haven't experienced such great hospitality in sydney yet will recommend to anyone looking for a good night out.
Thanks! : )
W. V.
Food was decent (duck liver parfait, pappardelle, cauliflower blossom). Although some were not that spectacular.
Ambience was non existant as we were out in the back near the toilet. (The restaurant was a full house)
Service was botched, with missing dishes, and double items on bill. Definitely communication issues between staff about the orders. Two of the desserts came twice and had to be taken back to the kitchen.
Post dining experience: they followed up post google review, and explained their situation. This shows that they care about their customers experiences and are seeking feedback for improvement.
S. L.
After receiving bad customer service and getting shooed at Bar Italia. We walked down to find another restaurant to dine in and ended up here! It was such an excellent experience. Thanks so much for amazing pasta, ambience and warm customer service. Wish we found you sooner. Highly reccomended! Thanks for making our night, we're coming back :)
P.s. their oysters were 10/10! They put this crushed icy lemon ice on top it was just so delicious! Squid ink and ragu pasta were really delicious too. Loved everything!
T. H.
Wonderful handmade pasta, cheery ambience and friendly staff.
Before 6pm they offered happy hour for cocktails, so try to get there early to sneak in some aperitifs.
I had slow cooked lamb fettuccine and thought it was delicious and unique. It reminded me little bit of thai masaman curry.
Portion sizes are on generous side, especially with sides and entrees. They say their menus are designed for sharing which is fantastic for trying many different dish.

Had the great pleasure of dining at Capriccio Osteria & Bar the night before the launch of their new spring menu and one word WOW!
Beautiful simple but gorgeous decor, lovely atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff but most of all amazing, fresh, full of flavour delicious food!
There was nothing to fault about our 9 course dinner (well could have done with seconds or thirds of dessert 😁) from the house made focaccia served at the beginning of the night to the Paris-brest with peanut butter cream & salted dulce de leche served for dessert each dish we had was unique in its own flavour and simply divine!
As soon as we got the round of starters happening we knew it was going to be a good night! That Stracciatella with peas, broad beans, garlic and lemon 😱
Hard to pick our faves from the night but if we had to they would be the Spatchcock with cauliflower skordolia, red radish and cider soaked currents DELICIOUS! and the Squid ink Tagliatelle with blue swimmer crab, chilli and basil, flavours so simple and beautiful!
Desserts oh where to start! Not much of a fan of cheese cake but we ate that strawberry and white chocolate cheese cake the same way Cookie Monster would eat cookies no lie! The Paris-Brest as mentioned before indulgent, creamy, light and lick your plate good!
Head Chef Nicole Bampton is a creative genius who has had experience in some of the finest kitchens in Sydney! Outstanding job!
If you are ever in the area or are looking for great Italian food be sure to stop by and try it all!!
S. Z.
Every dish is perfect and delicious. The oysters are fresh and matched perfectly with lime juice and vodka granita. The squid ink spaghetti and engplant parmigiana are authentic Italian taste. The beef steak is very tender and tasteful. Will definitely come back again!
B. -. K.
Such a quaint, cute restaurant in Leichhardt with some really amazing pasta! We got to try seven different dishes during our visit:
1) focaccia
2) beetroot and vodka cured ocean trout
3) wood-fired chicken wings
4) ricotta ravioli
5) squid ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab
6) gnocchi
7) passionfruit panna cotta
My personal favorites were the beetroot and vodka cured ocean trout, the squid ink spaghetti and the gnocchi. The gnocchi especially was absolutely delicious, it basically melts in your mouth! The panna cotta I’m told was very good as well, but I’m more of a chocolatey dessert person so I didn’t really enjoy it much.
Would definitely go back to try more of their pasta dishes, all three were so delicious!
R. F.
Very busy place - call and book ahead for an indoor seat. Awesome service great food, the recommended cocktails were perfect.
A. B.
Yummmmmmmmm. Such a great experience. Sitting outside on a lovely hot summer night. Friendly owner, lovely menu, gorgeous food, nice wine. Perfecto!
P. T.
This was an amazing restaurant thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. The one i heard people calling 'Poppys friend' was just great at washing dishes. Hope to come back soon!
G. L.
Had my 30th birthday in the beautiful upstairs private dining room and adored every dish as well as having the most amazing service. All my friends will be rushing back to the gem of Norton Street! Grazie mille Capriccio Osteria!
J.
Came here for a Sun night bite with my husband and we ordered:
1. Beef carpaccio with truffle
2. Chicken wings
3. Fettuccine
4. Duck ravioli with truffle
5. Panna Cotta
The beef carpaccio was on their Truffle special and we loved watching the truffle being grated onto the dish. Chicken wings were succulent and grilled nicely with a very tasty mayo on the side.
The duck ravioli was unusual and once again, we loved the freshly grated truffle on top. The mince inside reminded me of spaghetti bolognese. The fettuccine was the dish I had looked forward to the most as last time I came here, I really enjoyed this dish.
We finished with the panna cotta as my husband loved this during our last visit and I had a few bites. The light custard apple flavour pairs well with the fresh sliced coconut and berry jam.
Service was very quick for the entrees but a little bit of a wait for our mains and quick again for dessert. Wait staff were attentive to some degree and fulfilled all requests quickly but I felt as though they could have smiled a bit more and made it out to enjoy their jobs more. It seemed very serious and tense most of the time watching them move about.
Love all the trinkets and decorations around the place. Gave you something to look at while you waited for food.
A word of warning though - it’s unlikely you will get a table location of your choice as it seems they are quite busy and reluctant to put a table of 2 upstairs where it seems to cater mainly for groups 4 and above.
The first time we came, we sat next to the door and was unpleasant whenever it was opened as the cold air would blow in and we were not allowed to move to a table near the counter when it became available and the only tables left were the high bar ones. The owner at least made an effort to turn on the heater when we told them about the cold air coming through the door whenever it was opened.
Yesterday we were offered a bar table near the counter as it was the only one left and when we asked to go upstairs, they told us it wasn’t available.
They seem reluctant to let you pick your seating as it’s a small restaurant.
Having a Dimmi Restaurant Month deal made this worthwhile for us although it didn’t apply to the Truffle special but we weren’t informed of this at the beginning when the menus were handed to us so we ended up paying considerably more than we thought we would.
M. T.
Well located in Leichhardt, amazing food with an owner who is very passionate about his business.
The scallop entree was a showstopper along with the Saffron Campanelle with prosciutto and octopus ragu.
The piece de resistance was the liquorice ice cream!
A. T.
What a gem in the competitive Italian dining scene in Leichhardt! It's a small unassuming restaurant / bar with a nice open kitchen and fire which you can see your meal being prepared. The menu consists of modern Italian with shared and main dishes on offer, and we found the flavours elevated each of the dishes. Special mention to the squid ink pasta, and the smoked ocean trout. I give it 4.5 stars, because the prices were looking in the steep side, but it is a very well dining experience. Staff was happy for us to stay for hours.
S. L.
Pizza base was amazing - fluffy and doughy; pasta was great too. Don't miss out on the squid ink spaghetti with its wonderful crabby broth!
A. S.
Rates 3.25/5 overall. Came here w groupon voucher, cant remember what sort of deal it was (probably half price everything). Too many voucher carrying patrons are treated with something bordering on disdain. Thankfully, these guys were gracious. The best thing was we were presented the SAME menu, not a dumbed down no frills kind one gets when dining with (u guessed it) vouchers.
Green beans 2.75/5, Wagyu carpaccio 2.5/5, looks good but way too chewy.
Crispy potato 3.25/5, this was nicely done. Lamb 3/5, Cannenoli 3.25/5, Swordfish 3/5, Fettuccine 3.5/5, loved this simple dish cooked well.
The night we were there, most customers were using vouchers. It was a full house w a 50% table rotation. They were barely able to cope but they were doing their utmost best. Hats off to the boss man n his team for looking after their guests n the kitchen working relentlessly.
V. G.
Really nice place and experience.
Pizzas were really nice and wood fired ^^
However the pasta was a bit underwhelming :(
This ravioli was pretty interesting tho!:)
F.
Yes yes yes! I only give five stars to a restaurant whose food actually tastes amazing and this is one. Finally got to check this highly reviewed Italian restaurant and the first I’ve been in Leichhardt which didn’t disappoint me at all. Must try their unique oysters and the rainbow trout porchetta omg! Lovely cosy lemon themed gem.
P. J.
It was amazing dinner.
Friendly boss, staff
Food was simple but really delicious
Perfect Italian trattoria.
J. V.
Easily the best Italian restaurant in Sydney and also better than most of the Italian restaurants I've been to in Italy!
P. L.
Friendly staff, good portions, nice pasta (had the squid ink spaghetti with crab meat) and wood fired dishes. Fresh Oysters with lemon granita was amazing!
Great value as we came on a 50%off food Dimmi offer. Otherwise, would consider the standard prices charged a bit too Hugh...
Good variety to choose from, great to share and accompaniment to drinks. Only bad thing was their house red (from Tuscany) was pretty bad....
P. G.
Absolutely love this place! I have dined here several times & each time the food have been fantastic. I love to start with the warm, woodfired focaccia with a crunchy exterior and fluffy soft inside, topped with seasalt flakes & rosemary. The chicken liver parfait, although more French then Italian is done well here - creamy & rich, perfect with the slightly sweet, paper thin pistachio bread (like a thin biscotti /cracker). One of my favourite refreshing starters is the straciatella or mozzarella paired with seasonal vegetables. The arancini had the percect texture. Super crunchy on the outside with a nice soft risotto inside which was not soggy at all. It could do with a touch more seasoning but was lovely nonetheless with the accompanying basil aioli. Then there are the pastas. Each one I have had has been amazing whether you want something classic like lamb or duck ragu, which is full of flavour & comforting. Or the ravioli which are large silky pillows with a rich, nutty buttery hazelnut sauce. The squid ink pasta arrives & smells of the ocean & it is both striking to look at & dances in the mouth. It is all fantastic with generous servings & delicious. Then there are wonderous dishes from the woodfired oven. porchetta was juicy, tender, sweet & salty. Beautifully sliced in perfect rounds on top of a dollop of creamy Paris style mash. Then there is the woodfired chicken & steak. So juicy with a beautiful char on the outside, retaining all of the meat's natural flavours ever so lightly enhanced by the accompanying sauces. Baked ricotta cheesecake was a highlight for dessert - perfect denseness, a hint of citrus, lots of vanilla & very moist. Or the pannacotta which is sweet & creamy, with the perfect amount of wobble. Enjoy an aperitivo to start then beautiful Italian wines which pairs perfectly with the food. Service is very efficient & friendly with a great buzzy atmosphere.
J. P.
Great food. Service also. Very charming location - make sure you book !
M.
went here last night for my birthday and will continue to go! love this place… cute little place with great food and service (Mohammed is the best!)
beef carpaccio and the oysters are my go to and during truffle season, the menu is great!
last night was the first time i had truffle in a dessert (cheesecake).. i enjoyed it but might not be for everyone when you’re used to savory truffle dishes.
all my friends enjoyed their meals and have also made plans to visit again. thank you for the great night team!! see you again soon!
Recommend this place 100%

Had a birthday lunch for 4 for my mother's birthday today and had a fabulous time. Staff were very friendly and accommodating - food outstanding. We had a lovely afternoon and I will definitely be back. It was packed and I am not surprised. Thank you for a great meal!
C. G. P.
Nice pizza and very tasty ravioli. Not a lot of choice of main courses though for vegetarians. A bit overpriced but that's to be expected.
A. R.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant! The food was delicious and Marco served us beautifully. My family and I had the most pleasure night last Sunday here. Thank you!
G. H.
Amazing food and cocktails! The squid ink pasta was so delicious, as was everything else. Atmosphere was great, everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Will need to come back to try the rest of the menu!
K. M.
Amazing food. Great flavours, generous portions size. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend it.
A. T.
Best pizza and staff ever!! great food, great service - 1000% recommend 😍😍😍😍

Here you will find the yummiest handmade gnocchi that melts in your mouth ❤️ oysters are so good to! Highly recommend if you’re craving a good pasta dish!
H. B.
I really enjoyed the food and the great service from the waiter called Henry. He really made the evening with his kind soul and well mannered style.
My best compliments to the chef as well, I loved the pasta. Definitely coming back.
Keep it up!
H. G.
This restaurant was so nice, great customer service and food was to die for. I will be coming back frequently. I LOVE THIS PLACE. :)
D.
The food was excellent. The staff was very courteous and accommodated 12 of us although we did not have a booking on mother's day.
There was a discrepancy in the bill. However we let go of it because we had a good time.
It would be great if Arancini can be served with sauce as it was dry. The staff did get us cheese sauce when we asked for it. Thank you for a great Mother's day!
l. d.
Best ice cream and sorbet in town. An amazing experience and great friendly customer service.
E.
Absolutely delicious meal! Had the eight course pasta sampler and everything was hearty and flavoursome.
L.
Service is really great and accommodating. Food is delicious. Will be returning soon for another feed! Thank you!

Staff were friendly.
very pleasant to sit outside on the terrace.
The menu sounded interesting
Unfortunately the dishes we had were so salty I couldn't really taste the flavours.
Duck liver parfait with rose jelly & hazelnut crisps
Roasted Dutch Carrots
Norma Pizza
Both of us dining found them substantially salty and drank a lot of water.
Luckily the pizza was a little less so.
shame, I was looking forward to it.....hopefully the new menu will be less so.
C.
The saffron pappardelle with lamb pasta cost $32 for this price you got some home made fresh pasta which was amazing but it was a bit too salty. The Lamb was nicely cooked.
Serving size is not too bad but could do with more lamb and less salt. Wait time can be a bit long before you get your food.
C. P.
Food was so delicious and staff are friendly. Strongly recommended. Michele and his team will go extra mile to make sure your corporate or personal events are a memorable.
J. L.
Great dishes and services! Simple deco and delicious food, small serving though so you may need an extra dish or so.
R. Y.
Nice place. Dimly lit. Delicious food. Interesting squid in chips.
The chairs and tables are high, so it's a bit uncomfortable.
K. H.
All food is very delicious but overpriced for me when I think about their portion.
Outside table is amazing for sunny spring day.
S. L.
Fantastic pizza and amazing service! Love the staff and the squid ink pasta is too die for.
D. M.
Micheal is the best manager I have ever met. The food is amazing, service is exceptional, we had lunch and came back for dinner the same night! The pasta and pizza is delicious! It’s a must go to place.
S. G.
Great dining experience! The pasta and canoli were authentic with a touch of fantasy. The service was excellent. The location and ambiance were suitable for a dinner between colleagues. The prices were reasonable. What else would you expect in a restaurant? All the ingredients were there to have an outstanding dinner.
P. T.
great service and the crab squid ink pasta was 😍😍😍 , interesting flavour and the crab was so fresh.
D. P.
The pizza is amazing, pasta is pretty good... But the staff and atmosphere is dreadful... I don't need a waiter to lean over my table every 2 mins to fill up my water and break my conversation... Also, the manager is a complete dud. Completely ruins the experience when you're greeted by a person who has lost the will to live. Would rate 5/5 if not for the staff
A. B.
Great Food & service at this lovely small Italian Restaurant in Norton Street-Leichhardt, Sydney NSW Australia
B. D.
The best squid ink pasta, best chilli prawn pizza and to top it off, the staff are amazing.
J. H.
Excellent meal! Our first visit and picked at random, a very pleasant surprise at the quality and creative drive behind the food, matched by relaxed, smiling but totally professional service from the staff. We'll be going back, for sure.
K. C.
Best housemade pasta I have ever had in Leichhardt! Come here for a great Italian feast! You won't be disappointed! 🤤
J. S.
Fantastic food, great staff, fairly priced. Our waiter was very kind and gave us a bottle of house wine which also was very nice. There is a very comforting atmosphere, with a constant barbecue smell in the air, we loved it. Highly recommended.
C. T.
After a rough start with a takeaway pizza, Michele really wanted to make things right. The following evening he gave us a replacement pizza and dessert, which was really tasty with delicious fresh truffle
k. c.
Food and service was top notch ! The set menu was well worth the price. 🤙

Great food, great vibe! We came in a group of 10 for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a really fun night. The waiters were really welcoming and we had a set menu that was really generous on portions. Everything was really tasty in particular the arancini, focaccia and pizza. Will be back!
A. D.
Food is delicious and ambience is good. They seem a little short staffed sometimes especially when busy but staff are always friendly.
A. G.
Relaxed yet attentive service, loved the vibe of the outdoor seating and thoroughly enjoyed the delish dishes.
The octopus was a highlight but the pasta was also totally delicious.
Loved the focaccia bread too and the wine recommendations were spot on.
A real treat to have in such a great local spot. Great for a date or just a cheeky night out.
Golden Gully next door is great for a pre-drink too.
(Note: this is a delayed review... )

This restaurant is an absolute must if you have a passion for great food and a beautiful atmosphere. Everything - from the antipasti plate, to the octopus (standout - melt in the mouth), to the steak flank - was fantastic. The owner, Michele mingles and makes himself available to chat and advise on the food and menu. Standout experience.
G. B.
Great quality food, the caparccio is to over of the best I've had. The only reason I didn't give a five star was my pasta wasn't al dente. Otherwise I couldn't fault it, the wait staff were great, friendly and super attentive, a great selection of local and imported wines and limoncello on the house to finish off. They kept the dishes coming at a regular pace to keep with Covid-19 restrictions, but not pushy.
A. G.
I cannot count how many times me and my friends have been to this place! It’s just so good that we always keep on coming back for more. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Excellent wait staff and and a friendly manager! Great food, fun, bustling and cosy atmosphere. Cannot wait to come back!
C. K.
Absolutely love this restaurant. My favourite is the blue swimmer crab pasta and pepperoni pizza. Foccccia size is very generous and delicious to soak up the pasta sauces 🥰🥰🥰
T. S.
I’ve been here twice now. A real Osteria that takes you back to Italy. Fresh flavours seasonal menu. Staff were wonderful. If your looking for a place in Norton St to sample real Italian cuisine this is for you. I’ll be back.
B. S.
Fantastic food especially the squid ink pasta and the Sicilian spritz cocktail
B. A.
We had such s beautiful time here! The wood fire pizzas were amazing, and so was the hand made pasta! Great selection of wine, we particularity enjoyed the house wine. Topped our meal off with the ricotta and hazelnut ganache cake. Wooow! The reason for four stars, we had a vegetarian in our company who would have loved to see some more veg. items on the mains menu. Thank you!
a. f.
Dinner for 6 on a table for four
Ordered 4 entrees, 1 main, 2 pizza and 3 pasta dishes.
The food was probably travelling around the world before coming to our table.
The focaccia and the pizza base was pretty good however the toppings on the pizza was pretty bland (Dominoes does it better)
I'm pretty glad it was not full price because of the fork.
Probably won't be back...
b.
Oooooft! Hook that Ricotta Cheesecake up to my veins! The best I’ve ever had (other than in the motherland Italy).. & that chocolate ganache. What a combo. Delicious! Big fan of the pasta too 👌🏼
M. S.
Unbelievable food and great service. Top class authentic Italian cuisine, some of the best I’ve had in Australia period. Highly recommend Capriccio Osteria and will be returning ASAP. 10/10
M. N. Z.
The food is pretty good, price just on the high side
W. G.
1st time here the food and service was amazing
Michael is the best, knows his wine and food....we didn't know what to order so went for the chef's selection and was not disappointed great selection of food and lots of it.. ensure you try the coffee/limoncello at the end was a treat.
great night out👌
H. P.
My favourite Italian place, wow pasta is cooked to perfection.
z.
We had the prosciutto pizza and the squid ink pasta. Pizza was very good. Would have preferred if the squid ink pasta had actually squid ink with the crab.
Service was excellent.
D. W.
My favourite restaurant in Leichhardt hands down. When I have friends visiting I always take them here. Fresh amazing Italian food. A couple of cocktails at the Gully before hand- the perfect night out. Highly recommend, family friendly too.
E. S.
These people mean business: food business from the heart.
The operator runs an Italian restaurant like the Italians in Italy - its personal.
Quality is taken very seriously, and they genuinely check to make sure.
Next level quality, delivered with pride and passion without compromise.
V. L.
Food was really great. Quality fresh produce. Cheerful service. Beautiful al fresco dining - esp great in covid times. We enjoyed the squid ink linguini with crab meat, the special of the day octopus on cannelloni beans and wood fired pizza with pancetta
F. B.
Excellent service! Michel is absolutely friendly and very welcoming. I’ve eaten here about three times already and all they’ve done is continued to impress. My favourite dish would be the squid ink pasta. Definitely recommend this place.
P. D.
We had 5 for a 25th birthday on a busy Saturday night. Ordered Chefs signature selection.
Fun way to be surprised by each delicious share plate, with carpaccio, caprese salad, piazzas, pasta ,carrots , arincini & squid ink crab pasta.
Canolies to finish.
Service excellent, food combinations delicious.
And not bad value considering COVID.
Made a special day memorable.
O. S.
Delicious.
We had beetroot raviolli for mains. It was subtle, understated, and very tasty.
The specialty cocktails complemented the food very well.
Restaurant has a very calming, clean aesthetic.

Beautiful food and friendly service

Having never written a review before, I thought this neighbour hood restaurant deserves one. Although noisy and a bit small, I had the best meal. Snapper fillet, best quality and cooked the perfection, served with roasted vegetables.
Delicious. Service was very good too.
S. L.
WOW. BEST PASTA. We arrived very early - 11.30am and the oven was not hot enough for pizza. Was disappointed at first, but glad that they couldn't do pizza because I think I had the best pasta yet in my life!!! Squid ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab OMG the pasta was perfect and so as the flavour. We also got the black truffle pasta which tasted and smelt so beautiful. Even the kids meal (potato and fish croquette) was outstanding. Could not fault our food and THANK YOU!
V. S.
Authentic Italian food with nice selection of beer and wine. The staff were very friendly. Ordered a cheese cake before hand for an occasion - I could gladly say it was one of the best cake I've ever had.
A. S.
This place was great. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I took my wife here to celebrate her name day. We had a great chat with the owner and he is very fun and accomodating. We will definitely be coming back again.
D. P.
Took my wife and our two toddlers there. Very friendly staff. Lovely entrees and main dishes. Everything was amazing but particularly their fish dishes were amazing! Our kids lovely their kid's menu, too. Will certainly go there again.

Authentic Italian is what I would call it....the Arancini Balls and the Oyster is a must starter.. Beautiful squid ink pasta, loved the Cappricciosa pizza and their service was amazing ..have to come back for more..

Nice food. Prosciutto pizza was to die for. We were told we only had 90 minutes at the start which made us all anxious. They lose the 5th star for that.
B. T.
Had a fantastic meal at capriccio osterio last week. The squid ink pasta here is to die for! The pasta is seasoned really nicely and the pasta is fresh. Staff are also very humble and friendly so we had a really good experience here.
A. H.
Amazing food, homely and friendly service, we always have such a lovely time here. We think this place is one of the best restaurants for pasta in Sydney. Squid ink pasta is a must try! Highly recommend.
A. T.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Bravo!
Brilliant customer service... 😊
S. C.
Delicious meals, the best i ever had.
P. T.
Limited menu. Good was ok. A bit pricey for what you get.
C. L.
The pasta here was excellent. Excellent!
I agree with some aspects of past review although I am a little nervous to post as I can see the restaurant replying with rather snide remarks but here goes ...
- if it was better priced I would return more often. The pasta was delicious but the sauces (combined with below points) did not warrant the $30+ price tag.
- nothing has been done to control the acoustics which is an important part of my dining experience. It was like trying to communicate over a crowd three times the number of actual diners.
- the service left a lot to be desired although the service team seemed like very nice people.
So much potential and an overall good dinner!
J. M.
Last night 1st of December 2020, my family and I had the pleasure of attending the "Taste of Southern Italy" degustation feast. The menu was delicious as was the pairing of wines from across Italy. The scallop and artichoke arancini, followed by Calzone, eggplant parmigiana, orechiette, sardinian suckling pig and finished off with tartufo di puzzo (dark chocolate and liquorice bomb ice cream) was amazing. A massive thank you and congrats to the entire team..... It makes me want to travel back to the Brides homeland ..... Once COVID is done!!!
E. R. C.
Amazing customer service and delicious food, one of our favourites restaurants in Sydney with real Italian food. I would definitely recommend it! The focaccia and the pasta are incredible!
C. I.
Great food and great night. Michele and the team go the extra mile.
J. M.
Service is good and food is great. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic italian food. Worth the money because high quality and the staff and manager/owner are very friendly.
T. N.
Nice little local Italian, unfortunately didn’t get a photo but the squid ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab was delicious and the house red was nice
J. W.
I'm normally not a huge fan of traditional Italian cuisine, I like the dishes, but never get blown away by it in a city like Sydney with so many other culinary options. Capriccio Osteria did blow me away. Their dishes have beautifully refined flavors and you can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients they use in the dishes. Nice selection of wines as well. Will go back here!
M. B.
Most delightful oysters with lime and vodka, beautiful handmade pasta with heavenly matches - for example, squid ink pasta with blue swimmer crab. Kids meals seriously good, best bolognese. They did amazingly well with a super busy mother's day crowd. Great service and food all round. Will definitely be back!
J. D.
We got a last minute reservation for a table of 6 for a birthday celebration (due to my poor planning!)
The staff were super friendly and made jokes throughout the night. The waiter made a great suggestion for the red wine to match food and took the time to explain the type of wine; the region of Italy it comes from and how the grapes are harvested. Very interesting for us and made the experience special.
The food was amazing -so delicious. There were some specials for entree -a tuna tartare and carpaccio -that my super picky husband loved. I love the rosemary foccacia bread which melts in the mouth and the ravioli with hazelnuts and berries.
The staff were kind enough to bring out the cake that I had bought and serve it;even joining in singing happy birthday with us and taking some photos.
I have been here about 5 times and normally it is a lot busier so you don't get so much 1:1 service but the wait staff always make the time to explain the menu. Slightly more expensive than other places however the quality is worth the few extra dollars.
I highly recommend Capriccio and we will definitely be coming back again and again!
M. S.
Capriccio is a beautiful taste of Italy in Leichhardt. Michele and Nicole are amazing restaurateurs and have always made our experiences enjoyable. As Leichhardt local’s we’ve regularly popped up for a bite to eat. We have also held a family function in his upstairs room and the catering for it was fantastic!
The taste of Italy monthly menu’s offer a great way to try a selection of the menu, and the wood fired focaccia is yum 😊
Thanks Michele and Nicole 😊
C. B.
Sensational service for our large group and super-delicious, authentic food. Beetroot and ricotta ravioli a must. Nothing we ordered was average; all excellent.
Y. A.
Loved the cocktails, they even adjusted a cocktail for me. Food was really nice as well. The only thing I didn't like were the lamb skewers, neither our kid nor us could eat them, they didn't taste good
B. B.
Beautiful food. Great service. Authentic
M.
Delicious food. Even catered for my husband who has a meat allergy. Friendly and helpful staff. Best coffee I've had in a long time.
B. S.
Every visit to Capriccio brings a new taste adventure. I think they have the finest pasta in Sydney - every dish is a winner. We recently had the Truffle degustation menu with was, as usual superb. Still drooling over the potato/truffle pizza and the truffle fettuccine. Michael and the team do great work - you won't regret your visit.
They also did some inventive and tasty work during lockdown, some of which lives on, including the cook at home pasta. We regularly get this to supplement our other meals. Being able to 'make' cacio e pepe at home is a treat.
A. L.
Had the squid ink pasta, parmigiana, and porchetta to share. Amazing. And the wines match recs were fantastic. Discovered a new favourite red while here. We loved it so much we had dinner, went to a movie and then come back on the same night for me. Then when leaving I left behind my pills and our waiter ran after us to return them. Great night. Will return.

Delicious hidden gem in the heart of Leichhardt
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the delicious food at Capriccio Osteria and I cannot wait to return. From the quality of the ingredients to the innovative way in which these were served - my meal was superb! Modern Italian without being too experimental. The service was of high quality and friendly too. The atmosphere makes you feel as though you could be in some trendy laneway eatery in Florence or Rome. Loved my experience, thank you team.
G. S.
The word I am looking for here is beautiful. Beautiful food. Beautiful staff. Beautiful place. This is truly a hidden gemstone if you are looking for an intimate dinner.
My order of squid in spaghetti with blue swimmers crab, chili n basil was amazing. You can truly taste the freshness of the pasta and the subtle taste of chill and basil. Major kudos to the chef and the owner.
L. L.
Tasty food, friendly staff. Had a great night
A. S.
Such a fantastic restaurant, amazing service and a really nice ambiance. We had the squid ink pasta and sage burnt ravioli accompanied by the arancini balls for entree. Will happily be back for more as the quality of the food at this venue is out of this world! You will really be able to tell when you eat here that the food is made from high quality ingredients!
J. L.
Went there on a Tuesday recently. We didn’t actually know that they have cheap pasta Tuesday and the place was quite busy. But we we’re accommodated even though we didn’t have a reservation and are with young children.
Dishes are very nice. Ox tongue was very tender and was probably our favourite dish. Least favourite was probably the terrine.
R. W.
Best restaurant on Norton st! Full house on a Friday night and we sat upstairs.
Food was incredible with every dish beautifully presented. Our very knowledgeable Italian waiter was spot on with both food and wine recommendations and we will certainly be back.
T. M.
Walked into this restaurant early on a Saturday evening and were glad we did. Service was impeccible, staff were friendly and attentive (but not in your face). Food was great. We shared the zucchini flowers, tomato and burrata salad and the ravioli and octopus skewers. I'm not a dessert fan but the pannacotta with granita was very refreshing. We will be back.
J. W.
Atmosphere: Very noisy. Can't talk without raising my voice.
Food: Below average. Squid ink spaghetti was very dry and hard. Lamb was over burnt. Only fries were good.
Service: Good in general but when I paid the bill, I realised they charged me an additional $24 ($12 after discount) for bringing my birthday cake. When I asked about it, the manager said 99% of restaurants would charge for it. This was fine but it would be nice to tell the customer of the exact amount charge in advance.
The manager of the restaurant called and hence I adjusted the star rating showing they cared. Appreciated the call.
A. D. G.
Had the most delicious pumpkin and ricotta ravioli with sage, brown butter and almonds. An absolutely exquisite combination. For dessert I had the pistachio cannoli, which were also just heavenly.
The restaurant is rather small and very busy so I'd definitely recommend to book in advance. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful.
S. M.
Excellent Italian food. Very slow service when we dined on a Saturday evening. Kid friendly. The portions are not very big, we found it quite expensive for the price we paid. We had a Groupon voucher for 2, and the 2 kids ordered off the kids menu. Seating is in 2 floors and in an outdoor space at the curbside in good weather. They have shared plates as well. 4 stars because of the incredibly slow service, otherwise this would be a 5 star restaurant.
A. M.
Great vibe inside and just what Norton St needs! Good dishes, but not especially so in this price bracket. Unfortunately, error-prone service (just an accumulation of little things like: didn't have a table ready despite our reservation; brought two glasses of red wine without telling us which was which; forgot to offer parmesan for our pasta; didn't bring starters together). All in all I quite like the place and really hope to see it succeed, but I have to give 3 stars for the above reasons.
Update: I think 4 stars is fairer after having chatted to the manager who explained some more context about what happened that night.
E. d. J.
What: A really good Italian place in Leichardt
Why: Truly superb food, some Italian dishes you don't find in the average Italian restaurant and attentive service
Why not: Not much really. This is an upmarket restaurant so they are not cheap but prices are in line with the quality of food and service
T. W.
Amazing food, the atmosphere was warm and there were many groups enjoying themselves. We will be returning with friends. The staff were attentive without being particularly noticeable however our beverages were always filled. This is how dinning should be.
P. B.
This is a hidden inn-west gem. One of the last remaining authentic Italian restaurants in Leichhardt offering everything you would expect from a classic Italian eatery and a wine list to match offering local and Italian varieties.
M. D.
Stunning handmade pasta at this little Italian restaurant in Leichardt. I particularly enjoyed the squid ink pasta which had a nice kick of chilli in it. Amazing value if you can get the 50% off deal through The Fork and I would definitely revisit. The only downfall is that the service is slow and not attentive at all – we had to ask for everything at least twice (menus, table water, for someone to take our order, the bill – you get the jist!) We also waited about 1 hour between entrees and mains, which meant we decided to skip desserts and get gelato from a nearby shop instead. They were busy to be fair and service was not rude, perhaps just a little understaffed.
A. R.
We visited with family from overseas and was given a large table upstairs. The food is good and we tried all the sweet desserts! The kids meal was generous and the little ones really dug into it. I think the restaurant took great care in their food. Well done!
A. L.
Great service and amazing quality food.
E. M. T.
We were there on Saturday night for the first time. It was really busy so we waited for about 10 minutes at the bar, the focaccia was being baked right there in front of us and it looked appetizing. At the table we ordered three small dishes to share and bread, of course. The staff were friendly and service was swift. The food was delicious, sufficient with a rather unique presentation and surprising flavours. Dessert was also lovely. I'm a bread fan and this one was perfect, I'd go back just for it, but there were a lot of things I enjoyed...definitely going back
R. J.
An outstanding menu and friendly Italian service made for a great lunch for picky eaters. You’ll be hard-pressed to find better Italian in the the Leichhardt and it’s matched with the kind of relaxed dining atmosphere one expects in the Inner West. We started with the king fish and beef carpaccio to share alongside a serve of oysters (possibly the cleanest freshest oysters I’ve had in ages) and the duck liver parfait which was magic. For mains the Squid Ink Pasta was light and tasty with terrific punches of basil and chilli, and the Red Spot Whiting was super fresh and complimented by the gems of word-fires zucchini slices and a lighter style tomato base. It can get busy here so I recommend an earlier dining time to maximise your experience but don’t hesitate. Book a table.
M. S.
The Italian food is amongst the best I have had in Australia. The welcome and service are impeccable. The selection of Italian wine is fabulous. Well worth a visit.
C. W.
The food tasted amazing! Would completely recommend. The squid ink pasta was exceptional. Only note would be that serving sizes are average-small so potentially order more.
T. D.
After a return visit in July 2019 I have updated my review and increased the rating from 3 to 4-stars. Well located at the quieter end of Norton St in Sydney's Little Italy. Interesting regional dishes with generous portions and varied wine and cocktails lists. For antipasto we shared a plate of 5 tasty arancini for $15. For mains: squid ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab, chilli & basil; and ravioli filled with spinach & ricotta, brown butter, hazelnuts & currants. Both dishes were exceptional, and the ravioli were the best I have had anywhere. The price for mains averages $30. A bottle of undistinguished wine ads $40-60 to the bill. Dishes arrive in good time. When it is busy it gets crowded and the staff are harried. Service could be more welcoming.
A. G.
Nice but too many flavours on the one dish.
The squid ink spaghetti was the best dish.
A. H.
Top quality food at an affordable price, Capriccio delivered at each course, with each better than the last. I'd highly recommend the lamb, as well as the chicken liver paté, both of which left me sure I'd be back again, but outshining all were the crispy potatoes, which were to die for. As a coeliac, I was easily catered for, the staff were happy to point out the ample gluten free options. Paired with the Chianti, it made for a memorable night.
S. R.
Really good food and friendly, attentive staff. House red wine was lovely. Gambi pizza was a stand out.
E. A.
Best pasta in Sydney! Silky, smooth, thin, delicious. The new ricotta and pea ravioli is literally the best pasta I’ve ever eaten. Super reasonable prices considering the quality! A++ would recommend!
K. B.
Good food, poor service.
I visited here based on a fork festival promotion with 50% off food. Considering this, I am surprised that we werent asked if we wanted drinks. When I did order an Aperol spritz, I finished it and was not offered another beverage. We werent offered dessert and had to find our own way to get the bill.
Our waiter was very friendly, but we didnt see much of him.
The food was enjoyable, but not exceptional.
Probably would not visit again unless there was another promotion, plenty of other great italian places in Leichhardt with great service.
We attended on the 10th August.
K. W.
Beautifully prepared ingredients and dishes, Capriccio Osteria is a wonderful local gem on Norton Street. I highly recommend their crispy potatoes and squid ink pasta with blue swimmer crab! We will be back to try the rest of their menu!
C. X.
Everything is ok but just ordinary. At least the food does not suit my taste. I think the pasta is overpriced for what you get. Very busy and fully occupied when i visited.
T. x.
We had a function for our volunteers, we wanted them to have the best for all the great work they do, visiting elderly people in nursing homes and without doubt they got the best. The food was delicious and the staff made us feel right at home. It was a real celebration. Thank you Michele for all your hard work!
S. M.
Spent Sunday afternoon 1/12/2019 at Capriccio Osteria for our wedding anniversary, very relaxed and friendly vibe on the outside tables. We started with the Sydney rock oysters with lemon, lime & vodka granita and the Tuna Crudo with blood orange, radish & bottarga (substituted with fresh Kingfish). The entrees were exceptional. For mains, my wife and I both had the Squid ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab, chilli & basil - this was outrageously delicious, with generous portions of crab and all flavours delicately balanced - just superb and exceeded my expectations - we will be back for more. Desert Just as scumptious with the Tira-lova,
wattle seed pavlova, marsala cream, sponge fingers, coffee. Furthermore - my wife can highly recommend the Norton Spritz vodka, sparkling rosé, bitters & fresh lime. They were so good - she indulged in more than one - LOL. Beautiful food and a relaxed atmosphere - what more could you ask for on a sunny Sydney day. Well done to Michele Rispoli and Nicole Bampton (Head Chef).
A. T.
I have been here many times and the service, pasta and atmosphere never fails to deliver. I usually take guests here to show them great pasta in Sydney. Would recommend 10/10
p.s. must try the affogato with amaretto it is bomb!!
A. P.
If you are looking for a good italian food experience in the area, look no further. Food is authentic with a modern twist, and the ambience is familiar but attentive.
We had the carpaccio, the focaccia and the bagna cauda as starters, and it’s hard to pick the best one, as they were all superlative.
We had fettuccine to share and you could tell the pasta was homemade and al dente.
Overall really happy about the experience.
F. T.
Thanks for a great night with delicious meals, cocktails, wine and house made limoncello! Really glad that we finally found an Italian place that takes you back to good holiday memories enjoying shared food platters and high quality wines. Also very happy with the quality of service / personal attention as this is hard to find in Sydney. We will definitely come back!
C. L.
Wow! Such a delicious feed here at Capriccio Osteria with outstanding service. Clearly a much loved local restaurant. Would highly recommend the squid ink spaghetti and beef carpaccio.
If you'd like to see more of my photos, follow @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram!

Wow. Fantastic experience. My partner and I had the wood fired bread with amazing prosciutto and sensational cheese. The wine is awesome too.
This is my first ever review. I dont normally do this but thought this place was worth a shout out. You won't be disappointed.
C. S.
Amazing pastas: hands down some of the best pasta I have had in Sydney. Lovely dishes in a slightly informal setting. Good wine and well priced. Would highly recommend.
D. N.
My wife and I have Been here a few times now for our local date night and food has been consistently tasty and fresh. Menu offers a few different options compared when compared to your average Italian restaurant The service is also very friendly and efficient.
R. R.
Excellent food, excellent ambiance and it feels so wholesome every time we come here. The special event of 'Taste of France' last night provided big portions and succulent dishes. Highly recommend.
J. L.
Brilliant service, small hiccup with our order that the manager made sure didn't spoil our evening. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the wine!
S. &. S.
Big fan of Capricco. Super warm welcome like coming home to family. Beautiful food that was more enjoyable than some dishes in Italy. The duck gnocchi was next level, the squid ink pasta is my favourite and I cannot get enough of the panna cotta; sheer bliss. Thank you Michele!
M. D. G.
We tried a good variety of dishes including the
Pambula Merimbula oysters with a vodka, limoncello and lemon granita. Nice and plump oysters and the granita accomodating and highlighting the beautiful natural flavours of the oysters.
Second was the N'duja roasted octopus with Cannelloni, celery and green beans with a smoky flavour, extremely tender, a great rustic dish.
From the pasta options, we selected beetroot and ricotta ravioli with burnt butter sauce, and poppy seeds. Flavoursome pasta parcels were filled with a smooth beetroot ricotta purée and doused with the delicious butter sauce that made our tummies delight with happiness.
A new addition to the menu, baby snapper roasted on the bone was cooked perfectly and fell off the bone, served with almond romesco and braised leek. This was another great dish, simple with quality ingredients and perfect for summer. It paired well with a salad, their nicely ripened tomato salad made of Ox heart tomato, heirloom cherry tomato, buffalo mozarella and basil.
R.
Easily one of the best restaurants, if not the best in Leichhardt. Strongly recommend going. The food is always perfect as is the staff. The owner is lovely and takes exceptionally good care of the guests. They should have a chef hat.
A. L.
This was one ofthe best Italian meals I've had in Sydney. I have been multiple times now but the menu has been refined at it truly is amazing. Up there with the best Italian restaurants in Sydney now.
P. F.
I love this place. Lovely food, wide selection of fine Italian wine & a warm & engaging owner, Michael.

This is the best Italian restaurant in Leichhardt! Their squid ink linguine and truffle pasta is incomparable. Amazing food, fantastic service!

Food and atmosphere was excellent, best local Italian food in town! Great seating outdoors were you can sit back relax any enjoy a great meal - shout out to the chef, what cook!
J. H.
Love the squid ink chilli pasta. It's the bomb. Friendly staff and attentive service.
M. B.
A relatively nice meal although the truffle pizza just did not hit any highs and was not as flavoursome as I would have liked. The service was OK but not inspiring.
C. R.
We had a function for 30 people in the upstairs room. The food and service were excellent. Everyone had a great time. There was a lot of food and it was reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
L. P.
Fantastic modern Italian. There are many larger restaurants in Leichhardt but this is the stand-out for me. The welcome of the owner made us feel like family, the short menu focussing on modern quality Italian at reasonable prices is hard to find.
If you live in the area you are very lucky to have this place. If you live outside of it (as we do now) it is worth the travel back for the food and service.
D. W.
Just had dinner at capriccio,
We ordered the oysters, spaghetti and the main pork dish.
The dishes looked average, they were all packed with amazing "tickle your tastebud" flavours. Would definitely recommend!
N. Y. (.
Our local favourite. The team of Michele in the floor and Nicole in the kitchen is A+++. The wood fired focaccia makes me weak at the knees. We love their selection of various spritzes and negronis too. Come hungry!
J. L.
Nice spot, creative decor and clean. Staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. We popped in for a late lunch and the food was authentic italian and fresh. We really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back one night for dinner.
C. O.
Delicious food, unpretentious surroundings and good service.

This place is such an unsung gem! Every single thing I've tried here has been amazing - from the duck gnocchi to the cured ocean trout to the panna cotta (OMG their panna cotta 🤤🤤🤤). This restaurant honestly deserves more recognition, one of the best restaurants in Leichhardt, easily!

Hi Michele, thank you for responding to me. I've changed the rating. Thank you for serving us yesterday, we appreciate the quality of your food and thank you for the wine.
I. E.
Delicious food and impeccable service. Have been a few times and each time they delivered the same. Will be back and highly recommend the restaurant, one of the very few that we kept returning. Thank you Capriccio Osteria and team.

Excellent blue swimmer crab pasta and awesome pizza! A must for Italian food lovers!

Service was outstanding. Beetroot ravioli and baby carrots were stars of the show. Highly recommend this place!

Dined on the weekend and prior to arriving, I called to add an additional person onto the booking. Restaurant staff on the other end cut me short insisting that it was impossible. I knew he thought I was referring to making a new booking and had completely misheard me and it required me to rudely cut him short for him to realise it. Food was decent and with restaurant month with 50% off food, it was good value. Not sure if I would go again for full price menu. They run their restaurant strangely with plenty of floor staff but only the Restaurant Manager being able to take orders. So everytime we needed to order a drink, we had to wait.
C. C.
We chose Beef Carpacchio, broccolini cooked in the wood fired oven, rosemary foccachia, handmade pasta with pippis and chorizo. Lucio recommended a Mudgee Rose. Perfect accompaniment. Make sure you book as it gets busy. But then it was Saturday night.
A. P.
Amazing food, every single time. Not your typical Italian.
P. V.
Great food - good quality seafood options. The squid ink spaghetti and ravioli were very flavoursome. Would come back again!
E. S.
Loved the food, we went there on a promotion period. The reason why it didn't get 5 stars was towards the end, they just assumed we will give them a tip close to ten dollars, not even bothering to bring up our bill back with the change, as were sitting upstairs I thought that was quite unacceptable, the tip is at the customers discretion not what the restaurant assumes they will get, completely unacceptable not to bring the change back up to the table.
But because we went on promotion period they were also unwilling to meet the happy hour requirements when all drinks are half price. We probably would of given the tip but since they were a bit dodgy with some of the other stuff e.g not explaining to us that we could not get the happy hour discount, as we booked on a promotion period with dimmi's, when it was obvious we waited until after 9pm to order drinks.

Having travelled to Italy a number of times, this place has reminded me of not only the flavours, atmosphere, sounds and smells of that wonderful place but also introduced me to a new standard of Italian cuisine. I recommend this place 100% - Delicious!
I. C.
My favourite Italian restaurant, that makes me feel like I’m in the Amalfi Coast. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves fresh ingredients, tasty food and amazing service.

Best wood fired Pizza in Norton St
S. S.
We received a $20 off flyer on Norton Street, walking around and wondering about what to have for dinner. So when a girl handed this to us we were like okay, let's have a dinner at capriccio.
Nice food and atmosphere in the venue, loved the details of dinnerware and glasses.
S. M.
5 star service, our waitress was so lovely and she had a hard job looking after the restaurant by herself.
Food was very good.
A. C.
Unreal! Got the banquet for two and it was unbelievable. High quality produce, great prices and great service. Our waiter knew all about the food and explained the way it was cooked. Fantastic... Will definitely return!
R. L.
I'm Italian and when I want to eat a real and tasty Italian meal I go to this place. healthy, tasty, tasty food, friendly, helpful and friendly staff, refined and peaceful atmosphere. Definitely, one of the best Italian restaurants in Sydney!
E. R.
Magnificent and flavorful food. The tira-lova is a must try as well as their home made ice cream and focaccia bread. The proschetta pork is also nice and tender.
M. G.
This is the best Italian restaurant in Sydney. The food is fresh and incomparable. The service is outstanding.
P. H.

J. C.
Delicious small plates ideal for sharing like freshly baked focaccia bread, as well as pasta dishes like cacio de Pepe with broad beans. They make a great aperol spritz too and have delicious house wine. Love the atmosphere and friendly staff, will definitely come back next time I'm in Leichhardt.
a. b.
Always delicious, authentic Italian food, friendly service, great wine, casual vibe. Highly recommend.

Good wine, everything we have tried so far was excellent, highly recommend it !
A. M.
Highly recommend the squid ink crab pasta. Absolutely fantastic. My uncle loves the muscle pasta as well. Beef carpaccio and the ocean trout entre also recommended. Friendly service.
N. R.
I dined there last week and they had the best pasta. The squid ink pasta and the carpaccio shouldn't be missed!
M. B.
Excellent authentic Italian restaurant. Run by Italians. Who don't add cream to there food. As an aurhentic Italian restaurant in italy does not do that to accommodate anyone to compromise our traditions for anyone. I highly recommend this restaurant 100 per cent.
E. S.
Pizza was very tasty, quite unique. Dishes were in the small size. Very good service
F. G.
Great deal for the menu!! $59 for over 6 courses!

Food and atmosphere were great. It was a very busy night but booking seemed a bit disorganised as had to wait over 20mins despite a booking. Once seated food and service were great.
D. S.
Consistently excellent food, attentive service, bustling atmosphere, and good value. Give the house wines a try; you won't be disappointed.

K. G.
Knowledgeable service. Phenomenal food. Quiet busy for a Wednesday night, but the food came out quickly. Highly recommend the 6 course meal. Great value for money.
A. N. H.
Bonzer tucker. Bosker decor. Vibe is best downstairs, though balcony upstairs is snodger. Tenderest beef cheek ragu ever. Chilli fazoletti with octopus ragu - whacko!
S. L.
Food and service was incredible!
The ricotta and pea ravioli was one of the best pasta's I've had
Highly recommend, will be back soon

E. F.
Fabulous food every time! Great service and buzzing atmosphere . An all round authentic Italian Osteria!
P. Q.
Not inexpensive, but the food is tasty and works well when ordering for a whole table so food comes in regular and tasty waves. Enjoyable spot to spend a few hours with friends.
B. T.
The squid ink pasta and fettuccini was absolutely delicious, cooked well and generous. This is a great gem in Leichardt!
V. L.
Average. Pasta was a bit too oilly, and carpaccio should be raw not rare, I will not call a rare roasted beef a carpaccio.
B. G.
Not a bad restaurant my wife and I had the pasta which was al dente but not much blue swimmer crab 🦀 in the pasta 🍝 or chilli 🌶 my wife had peppi and muscles with pasta the mussels were not attached to the shells which is a bit of a worry and very small desert was ok wine 🍷 was nice but I gave this a 3 star ⭐️ as the service was very good so will go again and give it another go
Bruza
K. B.
