Comments of Chefs Gallery Town Hall

Overall we really enjoyed the food. Our favourite dishes were the Dan Dan Noodles, Beetroot noodles with mushrooms and the water spinach. The salt and pepper calamari were well below average with very small pieces of calamari that were tough and chewy. Service was below average, not attentive. The dishes we did like would make it worth going back for.
T. N.
Good service. Excellent fried rice and noodles, fair side dishes and dumplings. Quite high portions for average sharing proportions.

The food is very delicious and good portions. My partner and I love the Shandong chicken and Singapore noodles alot. Highly recommend to try this dish. Although there is less wait staffs post lockdown but still have decent customer service 👍

Very convenient location. The staff was nice and the food was absolutely delicious.
Some real flavours there.

Food was good, no question. The fried tofu and egg dish as well as the dim sum were really nice. The spicy beef noodle dish was so so to me. It had the funny peppery/herb like aftertaste I don’t like, but others may. Quick and efficient service.
Wish they used paper straws or no straws for the soy milk (I can drink from a glass). The cleanliness also left a bit to be desired with mashed food bits on the floor, some of the chairs had sauce smears and there was a small baby cockroach wandering on the wall along which I was seated. It’s something I wouldn’t be surprised at if this were a hole in the wall, but it’s a proper sit in restaurant (decor was even nice).

Highly recommend the service is prompt and the restaurant decor is beautiful. The food is another level and can see why many people love coming here. Tonights favourite dish was Duck Salad and Green Bean Pork and Elderflower Gin n Tonic was perfect with my dinner.

I've been to chef's gallery a few times and I've always enjoyed all the dishes except for this time.
I recommend to never order the scallion pancake. It was literally the worse one I've ever tasted in my life. The dish took so long to come out when it is the easiest dish we've ordered. The dough was very thick and hard, not flaky at all. It almost seems like they fried it twice. Very very disappointing as it is such a classic dish and I can't imagined how chef's gallery could have failed it so miserably. It wasn't even just alright, it was literally not edible.
In saying that, I would definitely still come back to order their other dishes. Their handmade noodles are the best as well as their dumplings. I usually order their spicy beef brisket noodle but this time we tried their dan dan noodles. It was very delicious! The sauce was mixed with a very flavoursome seafood stock that I don't usually distinctly taste in the dish. I would order this dish again but definitely to share as it was very rich.
Another dish that surprised me was their Tataki Wagyu beef. I've never had this dish before but I'm so glad I tried it! It was serve cold and it was very refreshing to have between the other heavy dishes we ordered. The beef was very tender and the sauce was very flavoursome.

Chefs Gallery on the Bathurst st has been around for a long time and I’ve visited here for my dumplings and fried rice many times. They’re still good as I remember. Very solid and very impressive. The format still works well and they’ve kept the high standards. Not everything on the menu is great so you have to choose carefully. They make great dumplings, egg fried rice, noodles, roti and dessert buns. For this reasons, I give this place 4 bears
C. G.
Good for a quick lunch spot! Service is completely non existent though. We had to go up and ask about 5 times to order. Food came quickly.

Had our work Christmas lunch here and was lovely. Delicious food and cocktails. The wok fried noodle duck was my favourite, and the pork belly too. Everything we tried was amazing.
J. O.
really good Asian restaurant in the CBD! food is always fresh and very tasty. my favourite has always been the lychee duck and prawn &olive fried rice (no pics though as we always tend to dig in straight away!!) but all the other items on their menu is just as good!
definitely one of my favourites in the city!
S. M.
Food is always superb here, fried tofu is my all time favourite😋 Restaurant is nice and clean. I also like the decor. Staffs are good too. Location is also perfect. The only thing I would like to improve is the timing of food coming out. It's not fun to have half of the table almost finishing their food and half of the table still waiting for their food to be delivered 🤨

A trendy Asian fusion restaurant that Asian people love (this is important because many don’t enjoy fusion). What stands out is the highly flavourful dishes - everything is decent, flavourful and well portioned (minus the dim sum) so you can’t really go wrong. Designed fo share plates. Best with 3-4 people.
Tip: Order plain white rice to go with your meal.
Ambience: modern Australian Chinese restaurant, clean, soft pop music.
C. L.
Best Chinese fusion I have eaten so far. My cousins loves the spinach pasta, chicken pasta was only ok but shrimp dumpling was so fresh and they handmade all their pasta. Vegetable dish was good and my favorite was the fried tofu which had a very flavorful breading which was great since tofu usually is bland. Customer service was great. Food came out within 10 minutes. Tomato rice was quite spicy so beware if you can’t eat spicy food. Duck pancakes were the best one I tried so far.
E. T.
(I'd give it 4.5 stars, but there's no half star on Google). Came here a few times and there's always a line waiting outside. Can hardly go wrong with the food here, they all generally taste great, the handmade noodles are delicious and even the sauces are made in house. Considering this is a modern Chinese restaurant, the dessert offering's sees some interesting twist. My only complain is the price point, which is quite high, like everybody else said. I'd classify this place as one that you dine at for special occasion or when you feel a bit flushed with food budget. I'd definitely recommend this place 👌
A. H.
This is a really great place of you're after a modern Chinese dining experience. The staff are very friendly and more then welcome to help you out of you have any concerns. The service is really fast with wait times and the quality of food is high. The toilets are in amazing conditions and there are plenty of seating options for all occasions. The down side is the cost. It's more than what you would pay but it's reasonable for food in the city.

I always wonder what is this restaurant make special to people get long line even every night. I kinda got an answer. Line was long but we were seated in 10 m cuz they have a lot of clean tables in huge place. And one side, there is opened kitchen with see-through glass wall so i feel safe about my meal n give me small show. Food served quite fast, waiter n waitress gave whatever we need even we didnt ask for.
Honestly some of food were really great but not all. I would like to recommend dan-dan noodle. It was so gratified . Huge disappointed sweet n sour pork how look so different compared with pic on menu n real. Felt like in China town food court when im having it but cost more than double. Great service restaurant with comfortable location n okay food anyways. Have a try next time :D

While the excitement of the colourfully illustrated Chefs Gallery menu continues to be their hand-stretched noodles and dim sum, there’s still value to be had in consuming a more standard Chinese meal. I’ve been visiting Kaisern Ching’s flagship Town Hall restaurant for a decade. To keep things fresh, the décor has had regular updates over that time period. The most recent update draws upon the pale salmon pinks of Spring, with the cabinets of Chinese artefacts and wall art giving way to floral arrangements.
To stay in the pink - and to lend some buying support to the bush fire-ravaged grape growers of Tumbarumba - I opt for the McWilliam 480 Estate Tumbarumba Rose ($10/glass). Made on savoury pinot noir grapes, it’s a good match for the cuisine.
While the name – Duck Liver Pâté Wagyu ($42) – might seem intimidating, the resulting 300 grams of flash-fried wagyu beef interspersed with snapping fresh sugar snaps and king brown mushrooms is not at all challenging. The pâté just adds a glossy richness to the high quality, tender hunks of meat.
Sweet and Sour Pork ($28) leans more heavily on balsamic vinegar and ume shiso (sour plum and shiso leaf) than most over-sweet renditions of this adapted Cantonese dish that seems perennially popular in Australian settings. Garnished with lychees and interspersed with pineapple and crisp hunks of red and green capsicum, it’s a tasty exemplar, especially when eaten over well-separated Roast Duck Fried Rice ($20). Chefs Gallery keep things exciting by combining the shredded roast duck with tiny rounds of asparagus, omelette and mustard seeds, adding up to a quality, unique fried rice experience.
Wok Fried Seasonal Vegetables ($22) purport to liven up a colourful melange of lightly cooked veggies (won by the texturally perfect oyster mushrooms) with spicy bacon chilli jam. What we actually got was smoky sliced bacon and just a hint of chilli, but regardless, it was actually my favourite dish.
We were delivered one incorrect dish, but staff took our word for it, spirited it away and ensured the correct one arrived before our meal had progressed too far. Serves feel a little on the small side, though the quality of the ingredients used at Chefs Gallery continues to shine, so you probably won’t mind dropping a little extra coin to eat them.

A modern Chinese restaurant with innovative dishes and lots of flavour 😋 I thought the dishes were unique. It was so hard to pick from the menu, so many things to try! I recommend going with a group of 3-4 so you can try more dishes, it was just my boyfriend and I, so we had to squeeze in 5 dishes 🙈⠀
🍔 Fairy floss mini burgers ($18)⠀
🍜 Spicy Wonton noodles ($20)⠀
🦆 Peking duck roti ($18)⠀
🥩Black pepper Wagyu ($38)⠀
🍮Truffle creme brulee ($16)⠀
⠀
The Peking duck Roti was definitely a winner, it was a fusion of the Peking duck that I love and the texture of roti. I wanted to try to burgers because it seemed interesting, the buns were like fried bao buns and the meat was juicy - it is a messy dish to eat (you were warned). The black pepper wagyu was very tender and delicious. The wonton noodles were so nice, I loved the spicy flavour which had a bit of sweetness to it. The truffle creme brulee was something we ordered out of interest, it was yummy - never had anything like it before.
Bf review: Very good. The black pepper beef was real good

I've been coming to Chefs Gallery Town Hall for years. It is always reliable. I usually make a booking because it is always busy (walk ins are accepted and I've seen them not wait too long). I like how you can see the chefs making their signature hand pulled noodles through the window to the kitchen. We always order the noodles. I quite like the dumplings, duck roti, meat dishes such as beef ribs. This time we ordered the spinach noodles, egg tofu, sweet and sour pork and calamari. We also got 25% off by using The Entertainment Book card
J. Q.
Good food and atmosphere, though nothing super noteworthy.
Black pepper beef was a bit too ‘peppery’ for our taste
The fried egg tofu is quite good (not pictured)

Food is really nice and tasty. The wait time however is a long time as they don't take phone bookings. We have tried calling multiple times but never seem to have our calls answered... U go there and put your name down and take a number. You are only seated when all ur guests arrive. However The good Food makes up for it! We enjoyed ourselves. Restaurant is big, spacious and clean.
A. F.
Excellent asian reataurant located in the area. Their short ribs is worth to try. all dishes we served hot and presented well. waiters and waitress are well coordinated even on a busy weekday.

Updated review. Still my fav. chinese restaurant, i dine here almost every week. But Sunday night might be the worst time to come. The staff were running around like crazy. There was a lady taking my order but it never came! We waited for almost 25mins and i didn’t remind them as i thought the kitchen was too busy. Till i saw people arriving after me have food. I asked her and she just said yes yes then continued running to other table, not even double checked the order. I had to talk to another staff. She brought the menu and asked what i did order! It turned out the first staff might have not even keyed in my order!!! And she did not even care! The other staffs tried to make it as quick as they could and I appreciated that. But still, i just wanted to finish the meal quickly and go home.

Fantastic food with great customer service. Staff were very friendly and helpful to us. Price is decent. Not too expensive and not overly cheap either. But the quality of food was outstanding! Not only that, but the food came to us so quickly. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody and I will for sure be coming here again :)
C. G.
Great Chinese food, especially the freshly made la mian (hand pulled noodles). Pot stickers were good. Service was quick despite the dinner crush. Prices were reasonable. Deducted half a star for dirty toilets.
Y. X.
I knew this place is good, but didn't know it's sooo good!! Sorry my photos are not pretty, it's because the food is way too good and I started digging in before I could remember taking photos. I'd like to mention a highlight of the menu - the vegan sashimi salad - it is absolutely yummy!! I also strongly recommend the noodles. I would come back there just for the noodles. :)
R. K.
While it’s a chain there’s good quality Chinese food on offer with slightly different variations to the usual dishes. Eg fried rice is normally yang chow(Yangzhou) style or salted fish fried rice. They have 3 types of egg fried rice and duck and mustard rice rice both of which are absolutely delicious. The duck roti is also very good and highly recommended. Pork and prawn dumplings with spicy sauce is also one of my favourites. Prices are on the expensive side. Great service and clean and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for visitors and locals alike.

Chefs Gallery is well known for producing great Chinese food. They have numerous locations due to the quality if their product. We visited their Town Hall site. A large restaurant situalted in Regent Place, with an open kitchen catering to the masses, with the staff easily servicing the restaurant without too much fuss.
The menu is a book of excitement with dim sum, hand made noodles, stirfries and desserts. The drinks menu also has a number of interesting options including the lychee and mint ice crush and also some infused hot teas.
Foodwise, we were torn by choice, wanting to order almost everything on the menu. Instead we limited ourselves to some key options of fresh noodles and interesting flavours we hadn't tried before. We ordered a variety of meals from each section of the menu. To start, we couldn't go past the light flaky roti and the prawn har gau dumplings - wonderful transparent pockets filled with goodness. You can certainly tell how fresh they are from first bite.
We of course had to order the noodles, made in house and went with their prawn and pork combination wonton and noodles. Pretty spicy but great flavour! We are also fans of the flavour known as numb, a strange sour like metallic taste which comes from the szechaun pepper. When we spotted the numb chicken on the menu we had to order this. An intriguing dish to try if you enjoy spice; combining chicken, vegetables, cashews, chilli and the flavour explosion from the numb sauce.
Make sure you save room for dessert. The desserts at chefs gallery are always fun. Whether it be a farm scene, fairies and unicorn in the clouds or an emoticon custard bun, which is what we got this time . Remember when your parents would tell you not to play with your food, forget that. We had the custard bun, knowing we could have fun by poking a hole in the mouth and giving it a squeeze to have some custard spew out. This was not only fun, it was tasty too.
L. F. A.
A must visit and re-visit, even during COVID times.
With a touch of artistry and elegance, expect a consistently good meal. In particular, the noodles requires a stretching technique that creates that velvety yet chewy texture, elevating your dining experience :)
V. B.
Professional and friendly service. The food was delicious and the portions were generous! Each dish had great flavours. I would highly recommend the snow pea sprouts and the shan dong chicken.
D. L.
Chefs Gallery has always been on my to try list as everyone I know has been there. The food was nicely prepared and flavors were good. The tomato beef brisket with handmade noodles was done well, being not too spicy or salty. The prices are a little expensive and customer service could be improved, but overall a nice to place for dinner. (Edit: Added Photos)
D. D.
Really like the handmade beef noodles. Very chewy. The fried rice with 3 kinds of eggs is pretty good too. Should try to cook at home however maybe can't make as good as this.
A. H.
Parking
Can be quite a challenge anywhere in Sydney. Super expensive and can range about 25$ an hour.
Ambience
Buzzing with activity around the show kitchen with hand pulled noodles right in front of you.
Food
We ordered quite a few things and I should say that it was outstanding. Well presented. Served at the right temperature and quick.
Service
Excellent, efficient and non obstrusive. Just what you want when you are on a day out with family.
L. G.
Delicious variety of modern Asian cuisine dishes! Definitely worth trying!
J. L.
Love the tofu soup. Very nice to have all season. Hand made spinach noodle stir fry is a big serve enough for 2-3. And love the cold entree dish too.
Busy lunch at weekdays lunch and dinner so if you go as small group, get there early.
T. P.
Professional and very accomodating. I booked a table for 10 in a quiet corner and they added a reindeer for our Christmas dinner.
Food is great and what you expected by the services and professional touch made my night.
D. M.
A fantastic restaurant where the Asians eat - so it must be pretty good. Fascinated by the preparation of food right in front of you which is a novelty as you observe the human aquarium of culinary preparation. Food is delicious but I feel as if the chain has let their presentation of dishes slip just a little
C. O.
We finally returned back to Chef Gallery (townhall) after such a long time to discover that the quality of the food had dropped significantly. We arrived at the restaurant for a early dinner (4.45pm) with 2 adults, one toddler and one baby and we order 4 dishes- the olive fried rice, the wasabi prawn, the fried spinach tofu and the salt and pepper calamari.
After waiting for a while, the olive fried rice arrived on the table, the fried spinach tofu and the salt and pepper calarmari came. We were in the middle of having the 3 dishes and i enquired about our wasabi prawn. The server said she will check on it. After finishing our 3 dishes, i enquired on the wasabi prawn again and it was not here. I wanted to cancel the dish but the server said it was coming. She was apologetic about the delay of the food (45 mins later) but we cant just have a dish on its own. in the end, we had to take away the dish- totally ruin the experience.
After leaving the restaurant, all of us were really thirsty which i believe the food was full of msg including the toddler. Chef gallery used to be one of my favourite restaurant which I will go with my friends and family but i might have to consider another restaurant. Really disappointing! :(
S. C.
Delicious chinese food. Slightly pricier than average but for the taste, portion, presentation and ambience, definitely recommended!
J. N.
Creative, mordern, sophisticated and little bit pricy menu to oridinary Chinese food. Food was satisfactory and loved the modern dining atmosphere with see thru kitchen. It could get quite salty esp the spicy noodle were.
K. D.
Beautiful, unique and modern flavours. The spice is not overwhelming and the dishes are well balanced. I definitely recommend the spicy wonton noodles. Staff and service are exceptional and very quick. Place is clean. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the chefs cooking.
A. H.
Chinise fusion food. The taste has been westernised. The food taste good when served warm. You need to eat fast because the it doesn't taste good when it's cold. This place is always crowded, not possible to book a table. I think it is a bit over priced. The wagyu beef and fried tofu are recommended
J. T.
We ordered the egg fried rice, spicy prawn wanton noodle dish, buns with black sesame and match and sesame ice cream. The rice was delicious, not too salty or too oily and the broth from the wonton noodles complimented the fried rice quite well too. Ice cream was lovely and creamy. Buns were nothing too interesting. I would've thought they would come out last as they were sweet but they came out with the mains. A bit pricy for chinese food but I can see why people queue for this place.
J.
Very comfortable seating and decent food for a very reasonable price. Spinach noodle has an amazing texture. Recommend!
t. z.
It's been almost 8 years since I first come to chief gallery. The menu and decoration are still fancy. However, the quality control is worsen every time. Everything just tasted bad, imbalance seasoning and crazy way of cooking.... As shown in the photo, this type of chicken should have similar texture to white cut/ hainan chicken and serve in cool temperature, but the cooks used microwave to heat it and totally destroyed that piece of meat. While, the salmon salad was just a nightmare, don't want to bother. Don't think will come back again in the near future.
c. m. w.
The food was actually pretty good, but the service was terrible. There was only 1 waitress working. I understand that sometimes people gets too tired or they're just having a bad day. But could've at least smile or speak nicely. We were waiting for so long for her to come to us everytime.
S.
Ordered takeaway from here and every dish was so tasty, especially the stir fried noodles. It looked like premium ingredients were used. Will be back to try other menu items.
J. Q.
The interior is decorated extremely nicely - it looks very classy etc (especially compared to the Macquarie one, which is more homely and chill). However, although it wasn’t busy when we came, it took a while for the staff to welcome and seat us at a table. The food was good, we got the San Choy Bao (MD05), Cheese and Mushroom Roti (CR04), and the Housemade Egg and Spinach Tofu (V02). All were quite nice and reasonably filling.

The food is good but the price is higher than expected , also the portion is small
U. J.
Went to Chefs Gallery to taste their power lunch menu but was informed that it was not available. Quite disappointing.
Ordered their chilli oil dumplings, spinach egg tofu and spicy beef noodles.
I was impressed with their spinach egg tofu. It was a very simple dish. Lots of fried egg tofu with hint of spinach with fried garlic - a
combination that can’t go wrong. Reminded me of a restaurant in Ashfield that does a similar dish and does it really well!
I was disappointed with their dumplings. The spicy oil was rather sweet in flavour. The inside of the dumpling wasn’t that tasty either. Wouldn’t order it again.
I felt that Chefs Gallery’s food was leaning more towards westernised version of Chinese food. If what you want is an authentic Chinese food, you won’t get it here. But, if what you want is sweeter, less spicy, prettier looking food, you will find it here.
N. D.
Fantastic food! I've avoided going here for long time because I thought it was going to be fancy/expensive and that I should go with friends - I was WRONG!
There are plenty of chairs for ONE, and menu selection for one person. The noodles and the broth was excellent, proper spicy. Further, you can watch the people make the noodles while you wait for the food by yourself. PERFECT for when you are tired from walking all over Sydney CBD and don't want to cook at home.
Service is great and friendly too.
Price point is great for one as well if you get the noodle dish. Not sure why people say the price point is too high? Is it because it's Chinese food ??? The quality you get is far better than other restaurants at this price point. Real broth, handmade fresh noodles, in middle of the city -
The tea is highly recommended - SO GOOD! The only reason for the missing one star is because I honestly haven't tried many Chinese restaurant to be able to say that this is my favourite BEST one in Sydney... it might just be??!!!!
A.
The Chefs Gallery would be 1st choice if you would be comparing it with Din Tai Fung. We ordered their Three Cup Chicken, their three egg fried rice and their prawn noodles. It was delicious but expected with the price you are going to pay.
T. C. T.
I've been here a few times, with friends, with family, and with my partner. This is an expansive restaurant that specialises in creative Chinese noodles and dumplings. The menu is extensive but noodles and dumplings are my pick of the best dishes- as well as the duck roti rolls. It's fun sitting near the kitchen, which is walled off with clear glass, offering a view of the noodle and dumpling making- a mesmerising process. There's a drinks menu too, with a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.
J. M.
I got dumplings from uber eats, and usually dumplings are all soggy and wrong after 10 mins, these ones where not only the best i have ever had delivered, they where the bet ever!
S. E.
Enjoyed lunch @ Chef's Gallery, Town Hall on a Mon early Sept 2017: Overall: very good.
The decor & layout is quite appealing, with somewhat minimalist yet beautiful & interesting art pieces along parts of the walls & on the dining floor.
Most of the dining positions & chairs look comfortable, even with some a bit cramped in too small a space.
The open long kitchen & food prep areas behind glass is often mesmerizing to gaze at the chefs working their product.
Most of the prices weren't cheap, some seemed reasonable & most seemed to represent pretty good value really.
Service very courteous & prompt, and they have a fairly broad drinks & beer menu - nice.
Have been here a couple of times now, each meal was pretty high quality, there's many more dishes on the menu that beckon trying - will return to do so for sure.
Y. A.
Love the food here. A bit pricey but the food quality and the atmosphere deserve it. The duck roll (pic 3) may be greasy but the green noodles (forgot the name) is definitely worth a try.
M. F.
Good Chinese food but on the pricier side. Would recommend the Peking duck roti for a first timer. The mango egg roll dessert is also good value
S. C.
Used to be very good when they first started but not anymore. They still make the best stir fry morning glory with balachan sauce!
A. D.
Absolutely délicious and simple Chinese food. Highly recommended. A solid 5 star.
S. T.
This is one of my favorites Asian restaurants in Sydney CBD. It's spacious and the food comes out quick. If you sit at the bar in front of the kitchen the chef's will also put on a show preparing the noodles. My favorite dishes are the duck roti and the sea food spinach noodles
S. T.
Good food. Good service. First time coming to the city branch. We usually go to the one at Macquarie Centre but this one is also nice
Y. S.
Nice food. Good environment. Will return.
P.
Food are outstanding. Good Job. Recommend

A Chinese restaurent that sells traditional Chinese dishes in downtown area of Sydney. Not too far from Townhall station.
Must try hand made noodles, sweet and sour soup, platter rolls and raditional salad. You can also witnesses how the chiefs are making noodles and cooking. Ost of dishes are spicy.
Usually crowded and need to write down your Q number and wait for seating.
K. T.
Had a late dinner here in a busy and popular restaurant with good service and excellent food!
Update: totally recommend the prawns and mussels with noodles dish, which I got to literally see being prepared in front me..
M. N.
Always a delight eating here. The waitstaff are very welcoming and warm. The atmosphere is vibrant and visually pleasing. The presentation of every dish makes you think twice about demolishing it. I have never been disappointed here 😍🎉

The food sounds good on the menu, but the portion was small and no dishes in particular stood out. Overall it was expensive if you wanted to have a full meal.
T. T.
Hard to judge or comment because of shut outlets. I have a deep sense of sympathy for them. It is hard for everyone for something like this to happen that takes us to a place beyond our control due to Covid even in our beloved nation of Austrslia. I am angry.
P. N.
Super tasty. Warm atmosphere. Offered a unique variety of modern Chinese food. Good for groups. Little bit pricey but definitely high quality
F. H.
Food is great, tastes good, you can see the guys making it behind the glass. However it is a bit pricey.
I. F.
The taste and service is good. The green tea ice cream and cucumber salad are my favourite. However the chicken is too salty for me.
J. S.
Excellent places that make their own noodles and where you can see into the kitchen through the big glass windows are great. The food is full of flavour - especially the Spicey Sichuan style noodle bowl.
P. C.
Must to try spinach noodle is awesome, just a little bit salty.
Everything good, reasonable price
Easy to access in CBD area
L. R.
Large portion sizes make you feel better about the price. The spicy szechwan noodle soup was quite good. However the bbq pork buns were bland and had little pork. Will come again for different dishes. Some good options for sharing.
G. L.
We came here right before peak hours. Staff is super friendly and quick to response but the food quality is just average. a bit pricey. their signature spinach noodle is chewy and soaked in oil :(
C. B.
Great Chinese food in a central location. In the upmarket side and that's obvious in the quality of the food. We love the roasted half duck bao.
D. A.
It's a 3-year-long overdue review, but it just proves how great the food was, if I can still remember it after such a long time ;)
M. E.
Always love their food creations. It’s like a twist of Asian and Western culture food
J. D.
When i think of Chinese food my mind automatically generates images of lemon chicken and beef with black bean sauce... Chefs Gallery is the opposite! Awesome handmade noodles prepared in front of your eyes. Getting a front row seat so you can eat while you watch them make the noodles is fascinating and fun!
L.
One of the best, if not is the best for noodle. Always come here if im craving for noodles, and order the signature pork chop (HN05). Noodle is well cooked, based shrimp soup with bit spiciness is killing it. The spinach seafood also one of the one need to try, if you dont like spicy.
K.
Fast and efficient restaurant, lovely atmosphere and spacious seating. Staff not the most friendly at times. We ordered the lunch special at 19.90, includes two entrees and a main and the portions were generous. The main dish was like a regular serving. There’s not trimming back here because it’s part of deal. My wontons and noodles were huge- I was full after that and then had to finish the two entrees! No one at the table could finish their meals and I was eating with blokes!
A.
The food was good, but a bit oily for my liking. It was pretty expensive.
h. i.
Overall foods so yummy, nice place as well. Come with your friends and share the food to make it more cheaper 🙂😂
M. M.
Wonderful meal, prices has increased from last visit. But the menu had a revamp and does taste better
J. Y.
The food is amazing as usual. But clearly from floor to kitchen, the restaurant is under staffed. Only 2 ppl on the floor & another 2 in the kitchen this whole time of our dining. The restaurant was busy & full house with table turning quickly. You need to wait long time for everything from ordering to asking for sauces & waiting for your food to arrive. Went twice recently & had to both cancel some dishes as waiting too long. Please roster more people for floor, register, front desk & kitchen. Your staff deserve to provide a better service if they are not over worked.
M. P.
service was great and the food was to taste. loved the live noodle pulling performance.
C. H.
Decent restaurant and kind service. It's not that traditional Chinese dishes but a mix of asian food. But the tastes is still delicious.
E. C.
Loved all foods. Slightly salty for me but great with steamed rice.
Y. G.
Food is amazing as usual. I understand that during busy time, staffs sometimes can’t handle everything quickly. But overall, they still did their best to bring an excellent service for us. I really enjoyed while dining here. Thank you for everything you guys have done to bring us an excellent night on Sunday.
K. H.
We love our 3 egg fried rice and veges ml. Was somewhat disappointed with the lamb wrap. It turned out rather soggy - we were so disappointed that we asked it to be returned and they obliged. The girl at the check-out apologied profusely. Their service is good but not sharp. They are obviously competing with Ding Tai Feng on slightly up market Asian food. While food IS comparable, their service staff needs to be more on the ball. Really hard to find their attention. They need to refine their layout for better flow
S. S.
Menu had changed during covid times and isn't as great. Still recommend overall.
J. M.
Good selection of dishes in menu. Quick service. Food quality not as good as it used to be. The mini chicken burger was quite dry and hard this time.
T. W.
Good restaurant overall, can get extremely busy and some of the food is fantastic others are lacking. The service whilst dealing with a large number of people is good.
C. C.
Very quick service and lovely food. We got lucky on Sunday night there were no queue
S. W.
I really liked this place. The menu was good, full of different foods from all over Asia. Some new things for me, but some firm favourites too. I went in at lunch time during the week and it was nicely busy. Fast service, relatively cheap.
J. C.
Amazing place, such good food and quick service too!!! Been there heaps of times too.
A. S.
I loved this place and have been visiting it a few times a year for the last 5 years. However, I found the the quality of the food has dropped significantly during and after the Covid. I recently had a Chinese New Year banquet and was overall disappointed. We were served 7 dishes overall, and while the first 2 or 3 were really nice, everything served after we didn't enjoy and didn't even finish some of them.
J. D.
Great vegetarian range at a great price. Everything tasty. Noodles are essential order!
L. S.
Spinach noodles and tofu are excellent and garlic snow pea sprouts brilliant!
K. M.
Had a really good time with family. There are plenty of food options, but the dumpling sampler (platter) is always a hit! The service could definitely be stepped up a tad. They also accept the NSW dine and discover voucher, which is always a bonus.
j. o.
I didnt find any wow factor at this restaurant. Perhaps I'm just picky, but the flavours were a little bland to me. Although the first waitress that served us was nice, the second waitress lacked attentiveness as I asked the waitress if we could have dessert, which never actually came. I was hoping that the dessert could help improve my impression but oh well.
M. R.
A bit expensive but delicious. Happy to dine there again.
C. O.
Good Chinese food. Portion is small and Rather expensive.
R. T.
Food is excellent. Service is quick. In picture, their salt and pepper tofu and the Dandan noodles.
J.
Ordered beef, steamed fish and fried rice. They are all flavourful and absolutely delicious 😋
H. H.
Not as good before, the spicy noodle has different taste. Maybe they changed the chef.. but I always want to come back even though I have to queue for at least 15-30 minutes.
C. T.
I found the server quite rude. Upon entry we waited and searched for the qr code but couldn't see it inside the store. The server told us annoyingly that the qr code was outside. When we finished selecting our meal we waited for some time and I eventually had to find a server to accept our order. We received our dish of wontons first but we did not receive any cutlery or bowls to eat with. The server came by again to hand us two more dishes but still didn't realise that we had nothing to eat them with. Only after coming back to the table a third time to hand us more food did she realise. We were given extremely small bowls in comparison to those around us. Some of the dishes were quite good. The wontons, xiao long bao and har gow could have been better but overall food was ok. Service could have definitely been better.
L. L.
Great food as always... service was a little slow. I do love the how fresh everything is and how they bring what ever of ready straight to the table. Definitely recommend sharing a few dishes.
B. P.
Great service and outstanding food. Extensive menu options.
N. W.
Revisited after another year or so. Nice new menu item and food was tasty.
K. S.
Great place. Prices are ok, bu the food quality is great and the meals are always well-presented. Get their desserts!
c. l.
Good dumplings and hand-pulled noodles, my go to dish is spicy wonton noodle.
c. h.
food is ok ... it’s kind of Chinese fusion cuisine..the price is little bit high.. if u really like traditional Chinese food i guess u may not like it
F. A.
The foods are nice and yum, the front staffs are welcoming us
R. M.
Yummy food. Tasty salt and pepper squid and the noodles with wontons was yum!
P. J.
Great authentic Asian food. Sat next to the clear glass window with viewing of the kitchen. Very impression with how they spin the noodles with their hands. The pork dumplings were delicious and buns with condensed milk is a must try......and service was great. For me and my husband, the bill was only around $75 including tips. Great value
W. L.
We just came here about a week ago. The last time we were here is before the whole Coronavirus situation. Since then the menu has changed a bit but the food is great as always. It's just a bit of a shame because my grandaughter loved the sesame buns but they no longer have it.
s. c.
I love their food. But it can be quite pricey. But it's worth the price. Prepare to line up on weekend
H. T. D.
Well, to make it simple, I love this place and I think you will too.
A. N.
I’ve been to this restaurant many times. In the past, no staff could speak Chinese, but now most staff are Chinese.
V. C. M.
Amazing service and food! We ordered 5 dishes to share and they were all just delicious and perfect. Fair prices and impressively efficient staff. Will definitely come back.
L. W. (.
Always love this restaurant, fresh handmade noodles, authentic flavour... keep coming back after many many years!
T. Y.
Not a bad environment for Chinese food. But the tables were too close to each other. I enjoy my space and privacy when I'm having dinner. Stir fried noodle was tasty but a little too oily for me. The steam dumpling were pretty standard. The wagu fried rice was good, but taste like normal beef mince fried rice. The dishes come very quickly. Overall, not bad. Wouldn't mind going back again.
P. Y.
you can come to here and try some hand-made noodles, mini-hamburger and roasted duck roll and so on.
Y. T.
One of my favorites in Sydney CBD. Hand made noodle is a must have.
K. Y.
2nd visit to the restaurant, the ‘Mee Goreng’ noodle taste is good! Just what I needed after 10 days of European food 😂
H. K.
Very good upmarket Chinese with some innovative dishes. The 3 cup chicken and hand made noodle dishes are fantastic. Services is decent but a little below par for the price. However, the food makes up for it.
s. v.
I had great expectations from this place and they fulfilled it. The food is so good that you just cant stop yourself from overeating. The chef who prepares the fried rice and noodles at the live counter knows the authentic taste of Thai fried rice. Wish I had more stars to offer. We will be back soon.
R. S.
Duck rolls, dumplings and Szechuan chicken is delish
T. K.
I don't personally know how authentic the food is, but its definitely good. Its also slightly cheaper than most Sydney restaurants in terms of value for money. Anyway, try to make a reservation, usually its full. Also get the dumplings, they are adorable and you'll thank me later.
A. N.
The portions here is really big.
Food was good but the restaurant is really noisy.
A. S.
Really yummy Dan Dan Noodles. Massive bowl of noodles in a thick an spicy soup.
D. G.
The service is just okay but the food is amazing. It's a bit pricey but if you're after yummy food, this is a great place. Just don't expect too friendly or attentive service. Its not bad but not amazing. Food is great though.
Update: I've bumped my review up from 4 to 5 stars now. I've been back 3-5 more times since my original review and have had faster and more friendly service since my first visit. The food is amazing, especially the dumplings.
S. K.
I have been multiple times and will continue to do so. Recommend you show up early, otherwise you may have to wait outside for a table. The food is always freshly made and quick to arrive, the portion sizes are fantastic for what you pay and the pork buns are some of the best I have had. To have 1 entrée, 2 mains and 2 cocktails all for under $60, can't complain about that!
O. v.
My favourite Chinese restaurant in Sydney CBD. It’s worth the wait.
A. R.
They don't take reservations but the small queue waiting outside moves quickly and the food arrives like lightning.
Anything with noodles is recommended!
I also had a chicken soup with dumplings and was very nice.
Worst part was how the waiter put the bowl of piping hot soup in front of my 6 month old which was well within the child's reach. Luckily I was able to grab the bowl in time before the child learnt a very harsh lesson.
A bit more attention by the waiter please and some common sense.
A. J.
Chefs gallery near town hall is one of the best noodle places I've ever been to. They have different varieties of noodles and dumplings. But I'd say noodles are their specialities. One of the must try noodles when you're here is the hand made spinach noodle. They say this is every vegetarian's favorite dish. I highly recommend this place. I'd love to go here again and again and I'd never be tired of it.
S. L.
Very innovative modern take on Chinese food. Good variety and flavors. Some dishes give you surprises as well. Good atmosphere and the tables are spread out so it's very comfortable seating. The spinach noodles is worth a mention as well as the duck roti.
s. m.
I hadn't been here before and was pretty impressed. Mid level service, ok room, slightly ratty menus, tables a bit close together (so, basically bit better than standard Sydney Chinese) ... but the food. Wow. Really good kinda high-end-for-Chinese food. Sauces not too sweet, duck perfect, flavours + textures really there and the price is reasonable. Ill go back again and again.
M. H.
I am Marble beef w/ spicy Sichuan soup (Spinach noodles) Lover. The soup and everything was cooked perfectly even the flavour of the Sichuan soup was so tasty.
I ate the dish but I dunno why it’s not a flavour I used to.
The flavour is changed......
Disappointed, absolutely yes!!!!!
May be they changed the recipes.
Thanks
L. D.
Food is good but not great. I would say lack of deep rich flavor, food here seems to be a bit on the bland side but is still good because raw ingredient they are using is with good quality as i can taste. But flavour wise is lack of oomph factor.
A. V.
The food is totally worthy and staffs are so friendly. When I have any questions or need something, they always welcome to help me. Will totally return🤞
T. G.
Ate here two nights in a row and really impressed. Food is tasty, great variety and fresh. Noodles, wontons and sweet&sour pork are right on.
Service is quick and straightforward- don't come here expecting a fine dining experience - but it's right on for what they're offering.
V. S.
It was pretty good for weeknight out, not very extraordinary dishes but was okay.. bit over priced than quality...
B. D.
We enjoyed some high quality share food. The service was a little bit manic, but they did a good job with trying to get our table sorted. Left feeling hungry, would have appreciated a bit of additional guidance on that front. Definitely a better option than many nearby vendors - a good option in conjunction with another event.
J. B.
Just so good! Couldn't fault them for anything! Friendly and attentive staff, nice decor and the food was amazing. Favourite was definitely the Mongolian Lamb ribs they were to die for. Would recommend this place and return again and again.
O. O.
Spinach hand made noodles are great. Ox tail is flavoursome and tender.
C. P.
Great food, great service! However, lacks of floor staff during weekend, a lot of dishes waiting for taking out quite a long time. Please put more floor staffs during busy hour.
N. H.
Great noodles but portions are a bit small...
N. D.
First of all, Food was good and the atmosphere was also quite pleasant. The only downside was the staff's laziness and nonsense. I came with my friend for his farewell and they offered us to sit at the bar, since I was going to order lots of food to share I asked a waiter if we could sit at a normal table in the section close to the cashier. The waiter told me rudely that the "section is closed because many staff are going for their break so we can't put you there" where I could see that there were so many other customers sitting in that section at that time. I was baffled as I heard such an unreasonable excuse of laziness to not let the customer sit where they want to sit. And when the food arrived, we asked again to move table as we didn't have enough space even to put our water glass properly and we received yet another unpleasant look and attitude from the waiter as if it's so difficult to move us to a table that was just a meter away. In general, no smile or any friendly service given to us and it's such a shame 'cause we actually liked the food.
For the management, please train the staff not to say stupid things to hide their laziness and know how to smile.
C. C.
very good quality food at a little above cheap price. it is worth getting in early to avoid queuing. service is very good and they react quickly if you ask about a delay in a dish. noodles are hand made and you can see everything in the kitchen. food is super tasty and almost unique. the vegetarian dishes are very tasty...tofu dish and the spinach noodles with Toon paste are great. green beans and pork mince is exceptional (not exactly vegetarian, i know.)
T. A.
Great food! Great chefs! Ok service.
r. e.
Astonishing, fantabulous my new favorite place. Super cool waiters
H. D. D.
The food we had was wonderful. Word of caution... if you don't like mushrooms the menu is quite limited. Add someone who is allergic to nuts and someone who doesn't eat spicy food then the menu choices are only a couple.
O. A.
Yummy and affordable a 100% Noddles and Chinese food
B. M.
This restaurant has beautiful furnishings and a great view of the kitchen and food being prepared. The food was yummy but not particularly amazing. It was probably more pricey than I would have liked based on the taste and portion size. Probably would consider returning but I wouldn't rush about it.
T. G.
had dinner here with friends, the location is perfect as it's just right in the city. wide selection of food, and staff are friendly. their peking duck roti is definitely a must try!!
L. M.
Food is always good and it is nice and quick before going to the movies.
J. D.
On our visit we first had to wait in line for about 10 mins. Once at the front of the line were told that the kitchen closes in 20 mins so need to order quickly. Once ordered the food came out almost instantly. Not sure if the food was cooked or just re heated as the temperature of the food was quite cold. The food is tasty but they need to take more care in the preparation of the food. Specially ensuring the temperature is right. Not cold food.
J. M.
Fantastic place. We had several dishes to share and it’s hard to pick a favourite. The wontons were great, fried prawn rice, wagyu beef and green beans. Beautifully plated dishes too and very good prices.
G. C.
Amazing food, the spicy homemade noodles are to die for. Great staff and the owner is an absolute gentleman. Can't recommend highly enough if you're looking for a place to eat not far from Darling harbour.
V. L.
Great food with amazing flavors!
K. F.
Food is yummy, some are a bit spicy than advertised but decent. We did encounter staff not being 100% friendly and they do not provide the same napkins if you ask for more tissues which makes you feel like you are treated not as nice. Food was not too bad though
M. A.
Fantastic Chinese food unfortunately everybody must know as there is usually a wait for a table.
N. M.
Too yummy dumplings, a bit expensive, but worth a try!
S. H.
Been here a few times and while it's still bloody good, I feel I suck at choosing the right combination of dishes.....however, if you are reading this and deciding whether to go or not- just do it- service is fast, food Is consistent, and the atmosphere is great whether it's a Monday or Friday.
Yeah yeah, choosing the right combination isn't that hard, but when you get miscombobulated because you want to try more than you can eat, it is harder than you think.....
A. N.
In general, it's not bad. The service, the food, the space are not bad. But it's just a bit pricey as expected.
Not the best, but a bit more than average.
A. K.
This place is always full but worth to wait.
The duck meals are highly recommended and the noodle dishes are amazing.
It is very entertaining to see the chefs working on the different dishes and see them freshly preparing the noodles from the dough.
W. Y.
Very good food, just the cost is a bit high
G. L.
The Beijing duck roti is tooooooo salty! It's disgusting and numbed my taste buds. My week's salt consumption in 1 meal? Luckily, their lobster noodles are on par. I would only recommend that dish.
M. M.
Been there once it was ok and even fairly nice but recently we wanted to book a table for 10 people and were told that they could do the booking but demanded a $28 minimum spending per person. I don't know how they could have enforce this payment but we weren't impressed by it. We had no idea what each person would want to spend even if this amount is pretty basic for a meal in a decent place.
L. M.
Walked the full length of George Street to find a queue in front of the restaurant. However, the wait was short and we were seated in this very busy restaurant. The menu was interesting with a mix of creative Malaysian and Cantonese style dishes. The staff were very helpful in helping us decide on what to order, steering us towards some of the signature dishes. The wagyu beef, wasabi prawns, and the salt and pepper egg tofu were alll very tasty. The noodle dishes were interesting and the desserts creative. Great Asian cuisine with a modern twist.
Y. Y.
While I'm quite happy with the spicy beef spinach noodles i ordered, i'm not a fan of there service. The waitress who serviced us was not friendly at all. She didn't tell us whether she was preparing the table for us or not. When the table was ready, she didn't say as normal, like please follow me, here's the menu, let me know when you are ready... ect. she kind of even had a upset face. While because of that bad service, i'm kind of reluctant to introduce friends or colleagues there. otherwise, i would...
A. N.
I had dinner with a group of friends 3 months ago. We waited about 10-15 minutes to have seats. The food was acceptable but I think the prices are a bit high. The place was packed and a bit noisy. I didn't feel relaxed atmosphere.
E. S. D.
I went day with my partner and found it a pleasant experience. It was a busy night being Thursday night in the CBD. we didnt have a booking but didnt take too long to get a table for two. the front hostess should probably do a vit more customer service training and treat payrons like guests as opposed to sheeps to be pushed around. The waiter Jeremy that took our order was very helpful and pleasant. The meals were good and as expected. we had the spicy noodles and wagyu beef. The food didnt take long to arrive and no stuff up took place. there is however a sense of rushing you out the door at the end though but not too bad, given the demand i suppose. I would be happy yo recommend this place and perhaps a bench sitting next time with a clear view of the kitchen activities. Overall i was satisfied with the food and price.
R.
went on a girls luncheon with mum after some retail therapy.
the staff were nice and attentive... although, they forgot our peking duck order, but apologised.. and it was WORTH THE WAIT!! the balance with everything wrapped around the roti was super drool worthy👍🏼
besides the peking duck and dessert, we ordered from the 'lunch specials' menu, it caters to your choices and you get to choose what mains and entrees you want from the selected items. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT AND ON POINT WITH FLAVOURS💕 also, the place is soooo pretty and rather much more quiet than the busy dinner times... this place is a must for lunch if you're wanting to avoid waiting in the queue during their extremely busy dinner times💯
oh and... did i mention the mango pancakes w/ a choice of an ice cream flavour is addictive?
Y. L.
The dishes are nice both in taste and look , just a little bit expensive.
G. M.
Just returned from this place. Although the interior, staff and timing are on a very nice level, i would say it's not worth the money.
Ordered
Sampling platter of cold dishes (SD14)
Pork and prawn wontons with noodles (HN06)
Handmade noodles wok fried Singapore style (HN19)
Only the last dish tried to light our interest, although we asked for extra chili in it and they charged us for that.
Wontons were cold, sampling platter tasted like nothing. Totally plain
J. L.
Small portion, premium pricing and trying to do upmarket dining but failed the environment and services. Non-attentive wait staff and dishes flavours are hits and misses..... There is usually a long queue to go in, and a stream of upset people coming out with the wallet broken but still pretty hungry.......
T. K.
Chefs Gallery has the basic quality control that you would expect from a large restaurant with multiple branches, but the lack of pizazz or care factor that comes with it. The service is fairly cursory, which is especially unappealing since there's usually a long queue out the door.
I do like the chefs making noodles in the window, however, and the cute seasonal buns that they come up with. Personally, I'd really only make the effort for the piggy buns at the end of the night, because there are so many other options in the city for you within walking distance.
C. a. V. (. &. V.
Chefs Gallery is conveniently located adjacent to Town Hall station and provides an extensive menu of Asian fusion dishes. Loved the hand made noodles with shredded duck. The Macanese sliders were delicious and perfectly bridged the east and west. The glassed wall kitchen allows you to watch go from raw ingredients to a completed dish. It's rare a insight into Asian food preparation and cooking, and it's entertaining too.
P. R.
Glad I got a chance to eat here, as everything was tasty. Will be back for more noodles and duck. They have a pretty large food menu, and all the staff seemed friendly and efficient.
O. T. J. (.
Place with mixed Asian dishes. Usually pretty good but everything was a little on the sweet side this time round. Always a short wait outside as they do not take bookings on weekends.
Service was fast even though waiters were busy.
k. e.
Food is definitely good but the serving is small given the price of the item is above average. Most items which we tried to order from their menu are not available. The service is good.
J. Y.
Foodies will love the food presentation here. They have optimised their menu for the Instagram crowd I believe. Menu is a bit pricey and not being open for lunch is lame, but definitely worth a visit if you like Asian cuisine.
J. Y.
Wonderful chinese food. I loved noodles and dimsum. Yummy. My kids love this place as well. We visites both in Townhall and in Macquerie center. Both were good but long waiting. Better making a booking to avoid one hour waiting at Saterday night.
R. (.
Gone downhill. Ordered two dishes for two people. First one came quickly, waited 20 mins for simple streamed dumplings to come. Not as good as it used to be.
S. S. V.
I’m a regular and price is worth the quality of modernised contemporary chinese food. From the freshly hand made dan-dan noodles, to their succulent roast duck and lychee with plum sauce and duck roti rolls. The only downside is that the menu keeps changing/updating, which is is fair, but some of my favourite dishes have been removed (FWP).
J. L.
Edit from last time I ate here: great Chinese food here. Food came at quickly and is very delicious. Would recommend the roti and fried rice. The staff are very nice and use sir or ma’am to address people. The food is a bit oily though. This place is much better than din tai fung now.
D. A.
Went here because of invitation from oz friends while we are visiting Sydney. Very crowded, reservation is a must. I find the foods surprisingly pretty good. It’s not a place to chit chat.
M. T.
I was a big fan however they have changed their menus. Whilst the food is still good, the service of the waiter was really bad. It was as if he didn't want to be there. Won't be coming back anytime soon
A. B.
A brilliant modern Sydney Chinese dining experience.
K. J.
It is delicious and creative. But the staffs are not kind.
E.
Food was so good. We didn’t have to wait a lot for our food, they were fast. You can see how they cook everything which makes it 100% transparent.
P. L.
Food is good but customer service is bad.
M. E.
Ive been visiting this area in the city for almost 4 years now and had been noticing this resto with quite a long line prior to covid. This year I decided to dine here for our date night. Ambiance is cozy social distancong was observed except for a group of friends who were like over 15 people celebrating a birthday. Food was good we ordered something not usual in the chinese foodcourt in china town. I loved their pork with roti, taste very similar with a peking duck with onion leeks and cucumber, we also ordered a soupless beef noodle and veggies that were equally good. The least was calamari where there is nothing special about it. i also like their lychee mocktail. Their watermelon juice was bland im not sure if its fresh if it is then maybe it wasnt in season.
A. H.
Food was not bad but we were not impressed when staff sat 2 diners right next to us. We had to request for the staff to relocate the diners to adhere to social distancing rules.
M. C.
The fried rice had a light tom yum flavour. The thick peanut sauce which was a little heavy but well-balanced by the noodles.
A. C.
I think I chose badly, my slow cooked oxtail was dry and really hard to eat because the meat was not falling of the bone. I had to pick it up in my fingers and chew it off. But the place was buzzing and a lot of people clearly like it here so I'll chalk this one up to a weak moment on their part or me not understanding what the dish would be like.
J. W.
Amazing, love the parramatta one and this one was perfect too.
H. T.
Cleaner but less authentic Chinese restaurant compared to the ones in Chinatown. They're famous for their handmade noodles and funky looking dessert buns (they look like animals). Citibank credit card holders also get a free bottle of wine when eating in, as long as you pay with the card!
D. N.
Busy, fast service. You can see into kitchen, everything made in front of you including the noddles from scratch. Wish they would do more dishes for people eating on their own. Reasonably priced.
R. F.
Good quality and exceptional value Chinese food. Great for a catch up with friends. There's a genuine reason as to why there seems to always be a line outside of this place for dinners.
M. U. (.
Awesome food, quick service. Can be really crowded and we can see the staff struggling when the place is full. I always compare other Chinese restaurants to this, even knowing there are many different cuisines.
M. W.
Delicious food, Instagrammable presentation, reasonable prices for the CBD, plus their cocktails are great! I come here to catch up with friends from out of town a lot. I highly recommend the lamb wrap, the sliders and the chilli dumpling noodles.
M. K.
They made a special lunch set menu which has a plate of dumplings, a bowl of dandan noodles soup, a bowl of corn soup and some veggies and a dessert for $18.90. My favourite dish is still a Spinach handmade noodles with seafood.
C. F.
Pretty good vegan options, especially the spinach noodles and mushrooms. Some excellent options with more protein (eg. tofu) would get the extra star.
K. C. G.
I don't know why they kept changing their menu and dim sum are quite expensive compared to my first 3 visits here but, i keep on coming back to their pork and prawn with special sauce. Yummm
J. G.
Excellent meal that came very quickly. Not expensive. There is a real family atmosphere to the place. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
L. S.
First time visited the Chef's Gallery and it did not disappoint. Great food, great service and a delight to watch the chefs in action. Will definitely be back.
Y.
Taste good
But waiting so long
H. K.
Bad service. Multiple times.
Foods were relatively good, but I would not go here for the amount of money I had to pay. Their service is same level as foodcourt.
B. W.
Good food
M. H.
We love this place, we’ve been to Chef’s Gallery in 3 different locations (Town Hall, MetCentre and Parramatta). The quality are par between the three, however, if you love variety, visit either the Town Hall or Parramatta one.
The plus side when we visited was, they had this special if you pay using Citibank you get a bottle of wine for free!
m. s.
Delicious food and fast service.
E. I.
Duck roti and deep fried shrimps were good. However, it’s not a place I would purposely go eat. Food was decent but nothing out of the extraordinary.
J. L.
A tad pricey but the food is worth it in terms of taste and portion. Service is good and location is convenient. Includes the standard rice and noodle dishes but also some creative variations.
H. M. S.
Wide variety of dishes. Service was really good. Food even better. Prices reasonable. Been twice will definitely be going back.
A. Y.
Good food. Good service. The only downside, not enough seafood choices.
L. N.
Cutest emoji buns! So soft and yummy
O. M.
Good food, you can see getting made for you while you eat. The man making the green noodles is always interesting. Easy place to go with work colleagues, or before or after the cinema.

Simply awesome!
Ordered the oxtail, the hot pepper soup, the jasmine fried rice and the mango pancake with green tea icecream for dessert- everything was delicious n very affordable.
അ.
Salt pepper squid was good so was sweet amd sour pork and prawn fried rice. Singapore noodle was a let down. Good place to eat..recommended!
E. S.
Probably one of my favorite spots for Asian fusion type food! Great atmosphere! Many options...they really do cater for everyone! Well priced and simply delicious!
M. M.
Great Chinese always delicious
M. Y.
The beef, duck and vegetables dishes were excellent. Fried rice and hand make noodles were also of very high quality. I would recommend these dishes instead of the dim sim categories.
A. M.
Amazing laksa, and the quickest service I’ve ever had in my life. Will be back for more
A. Y.
Food was above average, but expensive. But a baby cockroach fell on my date's head! Maybe another location has better sanitary standards.
S. G.
Great food, quick service, always packed but worth the wait.
4 out of 5 stars just because they completely spoiled my wagyu beef by overloading it with chilly, hence the taste completely disappeared.
R. C.
Great fast service with beautiful flavours. The dumplings were tasty and the duck was delicious and tofu cooked to perfection.
M. X.
Noodles are very good, lives up to its handmade reputation. Flavouring is spot on for the most part. Wait is a bit long, food is a bit pricey, but it's well worth it.
G. T.
Highly recommend this place. The spinach noodle is awesome. Good price, great food and fast service. Always a queue at the front but never too long
I. L.
Can be very busy, however booking is available. Made in shop noodles, very tasty. Dims are pretty and delicious as well. Can be pricey though
M. G.
Excellent range of food, tastes great, good value. Perfect for any size group.
B. M.
Very beautiful interior and service was great. Food was pricey. Although the food was yummy, I don't think I'll go back very often because there are so many other options around at better prices.
T. W.
Delicious food and thanks to being a bit less popular than it used to be, walkins are once again viable. You will probably want to select a few dishes and share which can make it expensive, but the food is top notch.
T. N.
The original and best. This is where Chefs Gallery started and after 5 years they are still reinventimg. Tonight us the launch of their new concept, an art gallery inside Chefs Gallery. Some great new dishes too; lamb spiced with cumin roti and stunning Chinese broccoli two ways are fab.
S. S. F.
Great, yum-cha style food .. large variety. Yummy 😋
J. K.
Food was great, fun Australian Chinese fusion but I found the service inattentive despite there being adequate staff, Not once did waitstaff check on our table except when called.
S. C.
Absolutely delicious food with a viewable kitchen. I would suggest sitting in front of it so you can watch them make your noodles fresh! Also very close to town hall station and George St event cinemas
A. C.
I ordered the Dan Dan with chicken which was delicious, but the new menu in general was more art than function. Please bring back the old menu 😢
R. W.
Nice food and good attentive service. Some menu items with a unique twist on Chinese culture
R. D. V.
Best place and the food is divine! My girlfriends and I have been going here for years!
M. A.
Great spot for a quick lunch. I had a rice dish but was jealous of the noodle that my eating companions had. Good price too.
P. H.
Great fusion Chinese.
The 3 eggs fried rice is a must.
Vege green noodle is also a gem.
T. B.
Very good food, well priced and very quick. However the gluten free options are limited if you need them!

Good Asian food but it's a little pricey. Expect a line there. Decor is clean and comfortably spaced but you do feel rushed out when it gets busy.
T. Y.
I have been a few time food quite nice the hot pot a must try
R.
Quality fresh ingredients with a humble atmosphere.
A. P.
Great looking restaurant with very photogenic food, however, that's all it is. The food is bland and expensive. Can easily find better Chinese food on Dixon Street a fraction of the price.
L.
I love their spinach noodles with the BBQ seafood. Their gyozas are really good too. The buns are more of a gimmick though.
L. R.
Love this place. Always busy for a reason. Great food, reasonable prices, fast service, huge menu but everything seems to be excellent every time!!
S. J. F.
Really enjoyed the quality and variety of food in the set menu. Just felt the portions a bit small for the cost.
M. o.
Love their shredded Peking duck with cucumber, hoisin sauce rolled inside a flaky Chinese roti. Any of the handmade noodle will do for me!
C. M.
The food here is seriously delicious but there is almost always a lineup so I would recommend going early if you want to eat right away.
N. A.
Chinese food with a twist. Not your traditional hence the price tag. Handmade noodles nice.
Fast service. Will try again in the future.
A. G.
Tried the crispy duck here. Definitely one of the best in the city. And one more thing... Don't forget to give the amazing mango package a try at the end. It's worth it.
T. T. R.
Amazing food $65 for 4 main huge dishes with 2 sides which left us so dam full and happy! Great service too.
J. D.
Food was good, staff not switched on.
Entree's came last, rice came first before the mains, nothing tel flowed as it should.
C. S.
Awesome food. Mostly eat there food lunch great food good portions. best, if you are eating with others, to order one plate each and share.
R. H.
Love this place! The food is served lightening fast. The handmade noodles are something special and whoever invented the Chinese Roti is a genius!!

Fresh hand made noodles and dumplings. photo menus make it easy to order. Good for a business luncheon.

R.
Food is excellent had the lychee duck, prawn noodles and something similar to duck pancakes. Suggest to book, as we had to wait for a table for 3
I. K.
Actually pretty good 4/5
I feel like the fried rice is a must order... eat while hot
M. T.
Huge menu! Lots of new takes on traditional meals. But it's a very rushed environment.. they want you in and out
L. F.
Great food (as always). Get off at town hall and take the closest exit - cross the road and you're there. Usually easy to get a table for one (or two!).
G. L.
A little pricey, but heaps of good choices and the dishes we had, duck and Wagyu beef, amazing.
C. F.
The service can be a little slow and confused at times but the food is good.
The fresh noodles are great to watch being made.
