Comments of City Extra Restaurant

3.5 Stars. Obviously this restaurant is incredibly well located and you do pay a premium for the view and location. But the menu and food quality are still a little disappointing. The whole place just doesn't feel like it belongs in Circular Quay - much less in such a prime position. It could definitely do with some form of renovation and sprucing.
Service was very good though.
G.
Maybe the most underrated eating place on Sydney's Quay - it's been there 30 years. Good fresh food, really good menu, good portions, very well priced and great, fast service. Add to that brilliant views of the Harbour bridge and opera house and you have a unique place open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
T. J.
The restaurant has a really convenient location. There are plenty of items to choose from their menu. You obviously have to pay extra because of the location and the views. I like that they are open until late and still serves breakfast even if you come at 11 pm.
The servers were really friendly. They also chilled their cups. I absolutely love cold drinks and they sold me when the servers brought out the chilled cups and cold water.
A.
Avocado is a little brown but tastes fine, eggs Benedict with salmon is interesting, they went overboard with the dressing but tasted fine
Milkshake was the strangest one I have ever consumed, very weird taste and texture
Come here but don't order the milkshake

Went here for the happy hour on our way to a different bar but were drawn to the atmosphere. We were seated immediately. Staff were extremely attentive, without being too overbearing. Drinks and food were delicious and extremely fairly priced and came very quickly. Views were immaculate also. They accept split bills and also dine and discover vouchers, making it an extremely affordable evening. 100% recommend, will be coming back. Thank you for an amazing night.
a.
Tbh it wasn’t bad but the price we paid it wasn’t what we expected to have on our plates. It was tasty tho.
You basically pay for the view and place.
Overall it had a good customer service, the lady was really attentive and tried to make it less uncomfortable when the food took a bit to long.
C. D.
Great dinner style cafe/restaurant at Circular Quay. Staff were really friendly. Nice views of Sydney Harbour Bridge from the upstairs dining area, and the coffee and drinks plus sweets we had were great.
L. D.
If you're having breakfast make sure you're hungry - huge! Fast service and great food (bacon, scrambled eggs and 2 enormous pieces of wholegrain toast). Considering how much hotels charge for breakfast I thought this was reasonably priced. Attentive wait staff. Recommended.
J. B.
The only good thing about covid, is tourist traps like this are empty. Yes, it is over priced, because of the view and location. But the staff are attentive, my breakfast order, ( well done bacon, not crispy) and eggs over easy came out exactly like I wanted. Coffee came out hot as well. $30 a head with a couple of coffees. Thumbs up!
D. E.
I like City Extra but last time my wife was sick after so have not been back for years. We were in Sydney in March so went again for their Devonshire tea, paid the bill outside on the way out kept the waiters receipt didnt ask for EFTPOS slip but found when I checked my credit card found.I had been overcharged. I contacted them & told them what happened, they appologised & said they would issue a refund. 1 month later & still no refund. Disappointed 😞
H.
Came here while waiting for the boat, great location, but the pasta was tasteless and oily, you can see the bridge from the restaurant.
B. J.
Always reliable and nice to find a good compromise restaurant that serves a good variety of food, without being pretentious and snobby. Will always eat here.
D. C.
This is a wonderful restaurant with a large menu and many, many food options, including daily specials. I wasn't sure with this large menu how good the food would be but it was absolutely delicious. They had a few gluten free options, and I got gluten free bruschetta which was well made and tasty. The duck fat potatoes were crispy and a wonderful special for the day. Overall delicious food, great customer service, would recommend.
T. P.
Great spot to catch up for a feed with a beautiful view of the harbour, they have a little bit of a variety of food on the menu to satisfy most people and are open 24hours for that late night/early morning snacker. Their Chicken wings were absolutely sensational but my steak could have been cooked a little more as I asked for it rare and it came out blue but it was still OK to eat and the mushroom sauce was 👌. my partners burger lacked a bit of seasoning and was a little over cooked with only 1 small piece of tomato on a big burger but all in all I'll be back for another feed.
S. J.
Great food, nice staff and spectacular view to harbour bridge.
J. J.
It was great to be out with the family and have a casual dinner

⭐⭐⭐. ✨ (3.5 stars for this visit)
Pretty good spot if you like to have a drink with Friends and family in less quieter atmosphere as compared to other restaurants around.
Friendly staff is a bonus, while the menu is extensive and has got good options to choose from food and beverage, priced moderate to higher but that would you expect hanging in Circular Quay. Infact our order taker five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for her, so very informative, friendly and understanding, which also helped us to order nicely.
The thing which I have to mention is that I ordered Bloody Mary ( big time lover ) and I got zabbed when I came in a Tall Rolly Poly glass , which I intiallly thought was extra value for buck but then I realize it more like Tomato juice with all other ingredients sans the vodka, which wasn't even there... Either the regular bartender may as well wasn't preparing that or the bar staff can be shown, how to make a basic Bloody Mary.
Hopefully my next visit, I still can order the same cocktail 🍹
P.
Most amazing pancakes I’ve ever had. Great view of the harbor too.
E. Z.
I LOVE City Extra 24 Hour Restaurant and have been there many times with clients and also my family.
It's a beautiful spot, prices are quite reasonable (especially considering their 5 star location) and the food quality is great.
It's well done Casual Dining and I'm a die hard fan. In fact, writing this review has persuaded me to go back there soon. Love them!
I. K.
Delicious coffees and ample food, great indoor and outdoor seating, good service and lots of eating options, halal and vegetarian food options available, located just opposite Warf 3 on Circular Quay... you have to scan before seating for SOPs
S. C.
Always love dining at this restaurant, amazing food and customer service! 😊
J. H.
went here at 10pm with my parents. Hands down the best pulled pork burger and chips I have ever had. My mum loved her prawn pasta too. Friendly service. Reasonably priced. Would recommend!
J.
The food ,as always , is top notch, staff are friendly and professional. Great atmosphere and ambience. Get an outside table or inside near window. Great views of boats coming and going.
C. L.
I certainly enjoy frequenting this establishment! The food, drinks and service are usually good. The atmosphere and location of this 24hour Cafe is one not to be missed, located on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour at Circular Quay.
M. C.
I stopped by a snack in the afternoon a couple weeks ago and it wasn’t too busy at the time but the food was really good and of course being by the water at circular quay there’s plenty to look at….
So definitely worth a visit and I’ll be back for sure 🙂
J. S.
Food was delicious. Staff accommodating and lovely. Great views!
W. W.
Brilliant place to go for food at all hours at a reasonable price.
A friend and I were visiting Sydney and needed somewhere for a late lunch. Excellent food and friendly staff! We have since come back 3-4 times throughout our time here and have enjoyed every visit. Brilliant view of the quay too!
J. H.
Fast and filling! We had the jouno burger with the lot. Mine was adapted to be gluten free. We always make this our place for dinner when in Sydney as it is consistently good, and great views. They also have Happy Hour!🍸🍹
H. C.
This is a great spot to stop when your looking for something to satisfy your appetite, without having to think too much about what your going to order. It's very standard Australian cuisine; they have burgers, pasta, roast meats, all day breakfast and a number of different desert options. The Journo Burger was very large and had a massive meat patty. The portion size was very generous. The strawberry pancakes were great, but a little lighter on the serving size. The staff were very attentive and took our orders quickly, and without fuss. We were on a bit of a schedule, so we were incredibly pleased that we had quick service. If you're after something with flair for an adventurous palette, this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for something quick and easy, then stop in.
G. A.
Great views, great food, friendly staff.
B. H.
Always excellent and friendly service with large portions of quality food.
H. S.
Great breakfast at City Extra. Plenty of options for kids. Quality food, a great atmosphere and stunning views. All staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating.
L. S.
Had a Fat Yak Pale Ale and some strawberry pancakes.
It was a nice summer evening on the wharf.
Pancakes were really good and made to perfection.
Staff were very friendly and fast.
C. F. C.
Would be 5 stars if they brought back the percolated coffee (filtered coffee) which was one of my favourite things on their menu. However, service is always great as well as their Canadian Breakfast. They arent 24 hour at the moment due to COVID but hopefully they'll be back up for late night again soon.
R. E. c.
Very good service hear staff are very helpful .
Food was reasonably fast and good size portions.
There is a nice view from this restaurant from the upper and lower dining aria from which you can see the ferry’s come and go and see the opera house clearly.
P. G.
Last time I visited City Extra i said I'd never come back! I know you have to pay for the location but the food is overpriced and not even up to pub food quality.
Even pubs & clubs make tastier better presented expensive meals but you certainly aren't getting what you pay for at City Extra!
B. W.
A very popular restaurant that overlooks the ferry terminal at Circular Quay on Sydney Harbour. Staff were efficient and friendly. Sitting indoors and outdoors. Good atmosphere. I ordered a medium to well-done cooked steak and receive a medium-rare cooked steak. The waitress had an accent, and may not have understood my Australian accent. The rest of the food was ok.
R. W.
Not going to lie - the food has always been okay at City Extra. But you don't really go to this place for amazing food - you come here for the ambiance of eating breakfast at 2am on a weekday night when the city has cleared all the while being encompassed in the red neon light of restaurant signage.

This institution along Circular Quay has been around as long as I can remember. I have been here a few times and each time has been good. Its open 24 hours which is handy and the menu is large with a wide variety of choices for any time of day. I have enjoyed drinks, coffees, scones and cakes as well as lunches, snacks and meals here. The staff are quite efficient and friendly and food always comes out fast. The portions are generous but prices reflect that also. Then again look at the location. Everything is enjoyable although nothing extraordinary or special but just good classics and decent food. The fries are super crispy!
A. D.
Great casual atmosphere in probably the most well known tourist spot in Australia right in the middle of circular quay. Went here for breakfast one morning on a holiday from Adelaide and it was probably the best breakfast ive ever had. Had a serve of banana bread and i could tell it was made on the premises, nice and hot with a serve of freshly whipped butter. And the serve of smashed avo with bacon and dukkah on toast was the best ive ever had. Considering where this is situated i didnt think the prices were that bad, they were expensive but compared to something similar in adelaide there was only a couple of bucks in it. Even got an awesome view of the harbour bridge covered in fog, what more could i ask for
J. H.
One of my favourite places in Sydney. Love the harbour views, fantastic food and great staff too. Quirky menu on the newspaper...
I took the eggs florentine and an Iced latte two days running for my Sydney visit.
Love, love, love this place ❤️
R. H.
Best breakfast I have ever eaten! Toast was AMAZING and pancakes great! Would totally recommend. We arrived early and jet lagged and stayed here for nearly 3 hours! Staff were kind and helpful!
A. H.
We had the pasta and fried calamari... food was delicious and the portion are huge..
Food arrived quickly.
The team is great and all the ladies there are wonderful.
M. R.
Fun cocktails and good food. Loved the view on the upper level. Great for a quick, no fuss meal anytime. Excellent for pre theatre.
n. v.
The food is not espectacular, but it have a really nice location. If you visit different points of the city or the taronga zoo and you are super hungry this would be a good place. It's a little pricey
I. H.
Definitely paying for location and view here. The food is good but not worth the price alone. It’s always open which is a bonus and it’s a good option if you’re hungry later in the evening.
d. b.
Great location, extremely delicious food at reasonable prices. I wish there was one near Parramatta, Zetland and Liverpool.
My girlfriend and I will go back for dessert next time.
A. T.
This is an amazing resturant. Great view and amazing food. It is expesnive but worth it as the view, food and service is amazing. I will be here again and reccomend to everyone
R. M.
Our most favorite hangout place. Views, great food, coffee and amazing vibes. We also get discount thru NRMA. Staff is also very nice.
M. T.
Service was friendly, efficient and it was clean. Im a stickler for cleanliness.
Food was good, would eat there again.
Even though it was raining, the view was beautiful.
G. N.
We dined on a Wednesday at 10:00. The menu was impressively extensive and included a range of options. I really liked that all of the menu is available all day. I had a big breakfast and whilst it wasn’t the biggest I have had, it was very tasty. The bacon was excellent and potato rosti was superb. My wife had scrambled eggs and enjoyed them. The staff were courteous and professional. The coffee was great. I would suggest having sourdough bread available. We were travelling and I was a little irritated that I had to leave my bag at the door, out of line of sight. I understood why though.
J. M.
Good venue.Friendly staff, and good menu choices at a reasonable price.
The chips were a bit too greasy for us,but not a problem really.Give it a go👍
A. m.
Great views and this was matched by the service. We had a nice meal from a good selection on the menu. Our waitress was friendly & polite.
A. D. O.
A nice and relaxed place to catch up with friends over some snacks and drinks. There's actually quite a big menu here, with lots of things I would have liked to try (but we had dinner plans elsewhere). The pink gin fizz was refreshing and delicious. The servings (e.g. hot chips) were generous. And it was very reasonably-priced, especially for the location! Would definitely come back!
A. K.
Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. Easy to watch the ferries come and go, plus a bridge view! The food was about average for the price and location. Gluten free menu was available.
K. M.
A favourite place when I'm heading into the city. Staff are always welcoming and food is at a reasonable price
8.
Amazing burger, the two servers I interacted with were extremely lovely. Absolute must go when your near circular quay
N. B.
Absolute the nicest restaurant and great price, staff beautiful and one of the girls was fantastic, manager friendly
J. D.
Staff were good as was the food but a number of the patrons left a lot to be desired, especially in regard to hygiene.
Most noticeable unfortunately.
M. D.
Food was pretty good. Location is great. Staff were very good - wrangled a split bill for twelve people.
D.
Extremely friendly staff, efficient service, great menu options and magnificent views of Sydney Harbour are all a great positive here. A great place for ‘people watching’ also!
J. C.
Amazing place to have breakfast, friendly staff, great menu, great view of the opera House, best memories were made here
M. R.
Can not rate this place high enough. Even though Vivid was on we were able to get a table very quickly. Friendly and polite staff looked after us from start to finish. The garlic prawns were amazing. Just the right amount of garlic and chillie definitely warmed me as it was a cold and wet night outside. Only thing about the garlic prawns I would suggest is it has less tomato in it. The tomato is quite over powering for me and I would rather remove it and have more of an intense garlic flavour.
Other than that our other meals were amazing. They consisted of sausages and chips, seared salmon with mash potato, bruschetta, fettuccine boscaiola and icecream with hot chocolate fudge for dessert.
E. C.
Love this place. Been there couple of times, food is really good, generous portion and services is 5 stars. Very friendly and always make me feel welcomed. Pink gin spritz is my fav kept going back for it. Had salmon fillet it is beautifully cooked. Hinghly recommend.
P. S.
Good place to relax, have a coffee while watching the crowd passing by and enjoying the view of Harbour bridge. Had pancake and hot chocolote, and enjoyed it. staff were freindly. The only thing that was annoying was the birds flying over the tables all the time and furs and dust was all over the place.
L. J.
Shared a meal with a friend and it was so lovely to be able to eat out after the lockdown. Delicious food, great company and ideal setting on Circular Quay
T. S.
The service was great and friendly. The food was fresh and very filling
A. W.
The food is great. The portions are large and worth the slightly higher cost. The cost is mostly due to the location, but it not too expensive. Open 24 hours, great staff, fast service, and the jugs of drinks are amazing and easily shared between 2-3 people.
D. R.
Been going here for years. Lovely wait staff, good food, and reasonable prices. All in a premium location.
A. P.
Any time of the day! Hungry? You want a view? That is the place to eat! CITY EXTRA is open 24 hours.....even at 6am!!!!! And today: Thank you, CITY EXTRA, for our fantastic breakfast! We were 8 and you were busy, but your service was excellent!
C. C.
The food was amazing. I love calamari and it was awesome. The service was outstanding.
D. H.
Service was very good. But the fish and chip snack was not nice. The fish had a past it taste and the chips were like cardboard.
Better luck next time
M. A.
Always great quality and service. The meals are a great size so you won't walk away feeling unloved!
a. b.
Excellent service, it was friendly quick and efficient. The desserts are delicious I order the Apple pie and I LOVED EVERY BITE!! you could really tell it home made (made in the kitchen).. I ordered the chai latte was nice and hot perfect for a rainy cold winters day !
R. Y.
Creamy mash and mushroom sauce. Crispy wings, fatty sausage, tender steak and super lean lamb shank with rich tomato flavour.
T. C.
Good food the prices have increased but for where r it is and friendly service the prices have been ok. They appear to have increased since covit
G. H.
Folks serve happily even though they are open 24 hours!
And the food and view are great too 🙂
A. H.
Relaxed atmosphere, great staff, friendly, good selections on menu.
Happy hour at 4pm right on the wharf at circular quay.
T. B.
It serves a purpose being always open and in a handy location. And the extensive menu will have something for everyone.
P.
Great view outside area, Pavlova is huge ~*
E. L.
Visited on Friday brunch. Relax mood. Food is very nice and come quickly.
J. K. C.
Affordable price, good food in quantity and quality the restaurant is always good to visit with family.
Love it❤
J. C.
Amazing customer service and the coffee and pastries are delicious! We got the scones and the cream that they make are heavenly!
J. T.
Great outdoor seating area to chat, people watch and see the ferry come in and out with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background. Fast service, social distancing observed and friendly staff.
V. M.
I have been to a few fine dining restaurants and City Extra is probably my favorite fine dining place. Love the food here so much that me and my partner decided to get married here. He then became a loser. Food and service is amazing. Though at fine dining cost, you will leave the place feeling so happy especially after dessert! Will definitely revisit again in future
B. H.
The service here is absolutely incredible and the food is spectacular! I’d love the come back again. The thick shakes are super yummy and thick. The pancakes are phenomenal and the big breakfast is very generous and delicious. Highly recommended.
A. P.
Right in front of the wharf. Tried some nice cocktail and food. Nothing amazing about the food. But nice place to hangout.
A. M.
Good food , excellent service, reasonable price
G. C.
Always a great meal provided at City Extra.I took my lil lady to a late lunch at Circular Quay and the food and service were top notch. The meals are a little on the pricey side, but I don't mind paying a little more for quality. And quality is what we got.
R. M.
A nice little place to grab a quick bite at Circular Quay while taking in the sights of the harbour. Food was ok. Prices reasonable. Service fast and friendly.
S. M.
Great menu options open 24 hours with all day breakfast, yum! Also great view.
H. C.
Quick bite to eat, nothing special but fills a spot.
Clean. Good position, close to public transport.
B. B.
Had a late breakfast in a Saturday. The location is great, the service is pretty good too.
Food is good, nice range of dishes. Coffee was pretty weak, but it was hot.
Have been there before and would go again.
S. B. C.
The food was ok, nothing out of the ordinary and quite expensive for what you get, however City Extra is good for dining late in the night as it is always open.
M. M.
Got the Journo Burger and added bacon. The patty was a bit dry. It was also a bit overcooked. The chips we're good and the service was good too. Cheeky dinner at 11pm.
M. E.
Took the family there for lunch .. It's pretty pricey , but that's to be expected with the location .. The cheese garlic bread was nothing crash hot .. bread tastes bit stale to be honest .. the service was great , SAlad and chips were absolutely amazing. How ever the chicken schnitzel the portion size was great but the schnitzel itself wasn't too crash hot . Would I go back and eat there again , maybe ..
S. B.
Great views ... Good food now thats a recipe for a perfect day/night
P. I.
Great service and tasty food, bring back the warm crusty bread rolls!!!
H. P.
Very good. Watch the ferries come and go while enjoying an ale or two.
M. S.
Friendly staff with great food. Will pop in again next time I am in Sydney.
T. B.
Really tasty scones, just the way I like them. Nice atmosphere with friendly service.
J. R.
Went to this restaurant about 8 months ago. It’s a decent enough restaurant but they got a few of my orders wrong. The nacho’s I had some capsicum sort of sauce in it and it didn’t taste like nachos anymore. Can be busy sometimes especially on the weekend and if you’re on the top floor you’ll often here trains rumbling over the roof quite frequently which can be loud.
A.
The place had awesome food and the manager Alexia was very kind
K. E.
The big breakfast is anything but big. 1 sausage, 1 bit of bacon, bland eggs, 3 tiny tomatoes and a hash brown that was meh. Salt and pepper calamari... the only flavour I got was salt, way too much salt. Service was ok being prompt and friendly but had multiple staff ask us the same questions.
P. M.
Perfect spot to put a lining down before hoping on one of the many vessels departing from out front. Nice coffee and decent avo on toast
F. F.
Well over-priced; food is reasonable.
H. A.
Recently visited and ordered the prawn and rocket spaghetti with a pink gin spritz. Very happy with the serving size and love the location. I have however ordered this dish before and it’s been a steady favourite of mine which is why I made an impromptu visit this time round. On this occasion however the bottom of my plate was swimming in cooking oil which made the meal very off putting to enjoy. Even though I was very happy with the prawn amount and the extra Parmesan cheese that was offered. The dish itself was quite bland this time too and I found myself added lots of additional salt. I love this restaurant and always talk positively about it to my friends and family. This time I’m glad I dined alone because the meal was rather disappointing. I’m hoping next time round the chef is having a better day. But overall usually quite a great restaurant in a superb location.
A. M.
Excellent food, good service. Great location
B. T.
Helpful staff, nice coffee and a great view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from their outdoor alfresco area.
Family-friendly with with colouring-in sheets and coloured pencils so the adults could enjoy their coffees.
J. W.
As the waitress seated us at the front area, the beauty of the harbour and the lush warm sun rays is inescapable, so the mood was already established and it seemed nothing can go wrong. To share, we ordered the fish ‘n’ chips and that bread with the fancy stuff on top. Everything was delivered with a smile. 12 minutes later, the platter was set, and I wondered, can the food compete with the ambience? The fancy bread was my first pick. It seemed kinda cute with all the colourful garnish toppings. I tasted it and..... it was a delightful :) It was the fishes turn. Could it compete? Unfortunately, it lacked of flavour and the experience dipped. Until suddenly, the waitress asked, ‘Hey, is everything ok?’ with a delivery of soul and the ever present smile. The moment became clear. Surrounded by the suns rays, I was transfixed by her gaze. I questioned myself, is this love at first sight? Who is she? Did god deliver this angel to this realm? What for? Is there an ultimate purpose? 20 minutes later, the meal was finished. My friend went to pay the bill, and I was still seated. A few minutes passed and I was unsure where she went. I walked into the restaurant puzzled as of her location. The holy waitress immediately noticed my confusion and informed me she was in the bathroom. Jesus. This waitress is a godsend. I shall conclude this review by stating this, I don’t do drugs but damn, that was such a dopamine experience. Now if you excuse me, I’m gonna go play some video games
K. C.
We had a good evening, nice food and the best server, Igor.
S. T.
Enjoyed it, staff are lovely and accomdating. Will be a place we can go back too.
F.
I love this place! All the food is so yummy, especially the seafood pancake!
N. V.
Food and service is always good here. Although maybe just a little on the expensive side. Like the rest of Circular Quay lol...
L. P.
Good value food considering they are open 24/7.
C. M.
Great food excellent service the pumpkin frittata was so nice
M. S. B.
Good seating and great staff..
Mocha coffee is the way to go.
N. “. a. D.
the food was delicious; the portions are like 1.5 the normal amount (American sized) which can make it a little awkward to eat by yourself or with other people. the milkshakes are also really great, I had the caramel and a friend got vanilla and both were amazing. unfortunately this place is pretty expensive (understandable but I felt very out of pocket after that) and so I wouldn't come here that often. there's plenty of seating and wide space, never had to wait for a table. there's a mention of a surcharge on card on the menu but they didn't ask when I went to pay, and free wifi if you ask the waiters when you order food. very clean, worth going to
B. M.
A very good place to meet your friends. Friendly staff very good food and lovely views.

Lunch there today was excellent as always. Our party of 6 come here all the time. Very welcoming staff great menu to choose from at reasonable prices. A must to try is the Canadian breakfast or any of their famous pancakes. Definitely go for any of their milkshakes. Highly recommend for any meal or just a great coffee. Excellent friendly service & family friendly.
H. D. H.
Genuinely surprised to see so many raving reviews about the food here. I went recently for a function, I was underwhelmed. I wouldn't return for the food.
Happy hour prices were reasonable and the location is amazing.
M. A.
Courteous, friendly service. Soup was nice and hot! They allowed me to charge my phone at a different area. The espresso martini was delectable!! Loved it all!
S. D.
Great location , open late. Really nice staff and delicious meals. Beautiful view of bridge.
A. L.
Whenever we stay the night in the city we usually end up here for breakfast the next day. It’s nice to find somewhere that is out of the busy but you can still sit back and watch it! The location is great right at circular quay and the service was fast and friendly. The coffee was good and the pancake stack was delicious.
H. M.
Really tasty food and open 24 hours. In a good, easy to find location opposite the manly ferry. Huge diverse menu, you could easily pick 5 things or more you would want, there is something for everyone. The milkshakes are some of the absolute best I have ever tasted. Service is quick and staff are friendly. The only downside is that the prices for most things are slightly too expensive for what they are worth, even for Sydney prices. $33 for fish and chips (which is 2 6-inch fillets of fish and a handful of chips) is a rude price to ask in my opinion.
O. t. O. A.
Love it. Visited a few times now, there can’t
Be too many places around where you can get a steak or pancakes at 3am.
Lovely views of Circular Quay. Affordable, fast and friendly. Plenty of options from a drink or light snack to full meals. Really handy - I came up to shoot Vivid so by midnight when I was packing up, it was nice to be able to wander in and still get a full meal.
Worth it!
L. L.
Reasonable place for a quick stop in though could benefit from a few more lighter bites on the menu... wasn't many options other than garlic bread or chips... it would be great to have some healthy options here too e.g. crudities and hummus or something...
K. S.
Almost got a burger for breakfast, just because you can here! We enjoyed our breakfast and the service was very good. Have to say that the young girl serving in our area was really lovely and the way she dealt with a very elderly gentleman as we were finishing up our stay was kind and gentle and patient.
D. S.
The food and service was great, their pancakes are still the talk of the evening.
The prices reflect the location overlooking the Sydney Harbour Circular Quay, with all is remarkable sights, but no regrets.
I. B.
Nice place to get a drink tea coffee beer or wine nice menu at reasonable prices very attentive staff
t. m.
Hopping off the ferry just as it began to rain, we decided to eat here. There are two floors inside but we sat outside, though did have to position ourselves under the canopies correctly as the rain was dripping between them. The menu was in the form of a newspaper which also told the history of the cafe. Service was quick, the food a bit longer, but it was busy, though when it came it was very tasty. I like the fact it's open 24 hours, would be a perfect place to come when jetlag sets in a 3am in the morning and you can't sleep.
M. B.
It's nice there. It's particularly good if you're out early and other places are still closed.
Staff are always on their game and super friendly.
Coffee is good. So is the food, however it's very expensive in my opinion.
R. V. K.
The staff here over the years have always been lovely, amazing characters. Can always rely on City Extra to be my favourite place to go in the area. Everywhere else is so pretentious or full of people I want nothing to do with. Plus I love the news paper themed menus and deco. Food is delicious too. Wings are winners and also love the Nachos
a. s.
Excellent place for tea/coffee and people/cruise ship watch. Quick friendly service and price is reasonable for views and position. Upstairs has great views as well as outside. Great place to wait/meet others kill time before getting on cruise ship or ferry.
I have never been disappointed.
B. M.
Great spot that's open 24 hours. All day breakfast so if you're feeling like waffles and bacon at 2 am after a pub crawl then go hard son. Good atmosphere and great location. The Menu is what you'd expect from an "American Diner" with a few alternatives thrown in. Food is pretty damn good at what ever time of the day and what ever state you may be in.
A. M.
This is one of my favourite places to go when I visit Sydney. They have lots of different options in their menu. Every time we go there we try different plates and it's always really good. It has a great location too, ferries and train station in front, close from the Sydney's Opera House, the Harbour Bridge... It's a perfect spot to take a break after all the walking. The price is affordable and keep in mind it's a famous area. The staff is really friendly too. For me is total recommended!!
B. R.
The food is decent and the staff were nice and attentive. This place is all about location, you can have a decent meal while looking out over the glorious Sydney Harbour.
L. R.
Good food and service... bonus Harbour view on a rainy day...Fat Yak nice light beer
V. M.
Good service, fast turn around when you order, delicious food, good selection of dishes and they take the NSW voucher. Staff are super friendly, pricing is not bad either.
L.
Open till late(not always 24/7), pancake was great:)
A. W.
Fantastic breakfast with the family. Beautiful views over Circular Quay.
Best milkshake we have ever had. Thanks for a great experience.
T. F.
Nice view - don't leave cameras/valuables sitting on your table! Very aware if being canvassed/checked out
T. G.
I love the idea of getting a full meal whenever you want and its pretty reasonably priced! Food quality isn't fantastic.... but for 10pm or 4am? Who can complain haha groupon vouchers are great too! But as I said, paying full price isn't a deal breaker 😁 been here a few times and service/staff are always great!
O. T. b. s.
This place treated us really well. If you sit outside you can get some really good views of the harbour and the culture around there is just spectacular. Only downside is that a couple of birds Dive bombed us until the waitress came and took the sugar from our table and then it all stopped
c.
The young lady who served me, about 4.30pm on Monday 15.2, was so friendly and helpful. (Two glasses of red and ga torlic prawns, if that's any help). The food and service were great.
D. P.
Some staff are really nice and their level of service is excellent . Some are completely hopeless and lack any form of customer engagement. So a 2 out of 10.
Food is between okay and great (between 5 and 7 out of 10).
Ambiance is 8 out of 10 due to the scenery and atmosphere.
Price doesn't seem ideal for what you get but because I have recently moved to Sydney I can really comment on how it compares
C. H.
Very nice restaurant to visit on a visit to the Sydney Harbour. Excellent service every time!
K. C.
I think City Extra need to modernise there menu selection. I have been going to this venue for 20 yrs and the menu selection has always been the same. I wanted to order veggie juice but they still had the same bottled orange and apple juice.
R. B.
Great place for a late night snack.best milkshakes.
M. A. D.
Open late, polite service. Food is a little pricey, tourist prices, but it is on Circular Quay so expected. Staff friendly. You are greeted at the entrance and a waitress takes you to your table. Once settled in you get friendly table service from the staff. Desert and coffee options on this late night was good and were served in a timely fashion. Pancakes were nice and served very warm, which was good given the wintery conditions outside at the time.
M. C.
Nice staff and yummy affordable meals .
T. G.
Environment of the place was very nice and servers very nice and friendly. The food I ordered was slightly off my liking it could of just been what I ordered and preference but very nice selection of food otherwise. I would recommend
K. K.
The last time I went here was in the 90s and I remember leaving unimpressed. The place has improved much and the service is significantly better. The service is good and the menu is quite diverse. We came here for breakfast and we were not disappointed.
P. D.
The caesar Salad is as top quality as any restaurant in Sydney. I go a little earlier when it's quiet for faster service and the chiefs are not so rushed. I will go back again for sure. I definately recommend City Extra for quality dining.
p. w.
The views are great, food and prices not bad considering the great location.
A. W.
Not the cheapest place around Circular Quay but for a satisfying after-10:00pm meal this restaurant does very well. Had the chicken schnitzel which was good. Polite and attentive staff efficiently set about doing their job. Indoor and outdoor seating.
D. P.
Great location. Pleasant helpful staff.
I’ve tried the Eggs Benedict now. Next time it would be something different.
H. v. S.
Great place for a beer after orienteering at some ferry bound location, while waiting for a train back home. Newspaper menu is really cool. I haven't tried much food, so can't really comment there. I did feel they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but when you're hungry you just have to pick something. I think I might have put a suggestion in about what food I would have liked.
K. G.
A Sydney institution. Serving food and beverages 24 hours.. I have been here more times than I can remember.
M. S.
Love the location , food is excellent, just need more politeness from the guy in the cashier.
C. K.
I’ve been to City Extra many times over the last three years and every time I’ve been very happy.
The food is delicious and always served with a generous proportion. The staff are always very friendly and quick. From steak to salad to coffee and desert, it’s great to have a nice meal overlooking the Harbour.
I’ll be going there again soon.
T. C.
We have wasted way too many hours in this place. One of the only 24 hour places in Sydney. For the night owls and insomniacs this place is perfect. Descent array of food, not the cheapest but worth it as it will always be a generous deli style feed. The staff are always well presented and there always some familiar faces that make coming back again and again more enjoyable
M. H.
City Extra has not really changed over the past decade. Service was quick and food was well presented. Taste was where this establishment fell short. We had three different burgers and all three were pretty much the same taste.
It’s a little tired and burgers and chips are a little on the $$$ side for what you are getting.
R. J.
Visited City Extra with friends on a wet afternoon. It's been rears since I had been there and my goodness did they surprise. Excellent menu, wine list and the best Pavlova ever .... my friends and I really enjoyed the experience.
M. T.
It is a great restaurant on the concourse of circular quay right near the wharves and the train line and the tram stop and the bus interchange it has an all day menu with breakfast lunch and dinner and snacks and drinks and alcohol drinks
y. i. k. e. s.
My sister and I stumbled upon this place late at night after a trip from the zoo. It was a Sunday night during the Vivid Light Festival so you'd expect it to be very busy (which it was) however we were treated by friendly staff as soon as we walked in, sat down at a nice table with a nice view and had our orders taken fairly quickly. Our food also came surprisingly fast and it tasted delicious! The only flaws we experienced was the loudness of the restaurant and the messy bathrooms, we weren't too bothered though.
M.
We had great food with an amazing view. Prices affordable and friendly service. Please see my YouTube channel for more info: Morgancita video: Royal Caribbean South Pacific & Fiji Cruise Part 1.
L. 3.
City Extra has the best Steak and chips. They also have the best Ice cream and soft drinks. I always go there and eat, there food is delicious and very tasty. Their burgers are the best in town as far as i can see. I love how they cook the salad, its very nice and tasty
D. B.
Our return visit. Still great. 01-01-21
S. K. (.
Extremely good food. Went there with my family and we had fish and chips, chicken shnitzel and pancakes. The environment is good and we can hear ourselves when we speak as it wasn't too noisy. The food might be a little on the pricey side but its well worth it especially with the excellent views.
T.
Great place, friendly service, food and drinks with a view of circular Quay ward, Sydney Harbour bridge and you can experience a diverse range of street performers outside. Free wifi, Covid safe dining.
S. V.
The breakfast is always delicious as is the coffee and very reasonably priced. Huge plate of scrambled eggs, 2 slices doorstopper sourdough toast and double shot latte just under $15.00. A1 + for service and taste. Always come here for breakfast when coming to Sydney.
D. B.
Always excellent food and service with lovely outlook over Sydney Harbour. The staff are caring and obliging and courtesy is their priority. The venue has always a queue to get in but are severely affected by the covid crisis. They are very covid aware and physically verified that we had signed in. The venue needs the community support.
J. H.
Used to be amazing, but now very expensive and quality just ok. Views are still amazing
G. N.
Lovely choice of food, but best of all, every staff member gave us great service. We ate breakfast on four occassions at City Extra, asked for a table upstairs to take in the view and are request was greeted with a smile.
T. E.
Upon arrival staff greet you at the door, showing you to your table. The level of service is good but with room for improvement. City extra gives you value and affordable prices. For desert I would recommend the pavlova, big enough to serve 3 people at $18 dollars.
B. M.
Good service & variety of food
S. R.
The waitstaff is friendly, but the prices are a joke for what you actually get. Waaaaay over priced. But, I suppose you pay for the convenience of getting food when everywhere else is closed. Would never eat there if I had another choice though. The food does taste good, even though you pay an arm and a leg for it.
H. R. L.
What an amazing dinner date on the balcony! The best service and the best burgers! Totally worth the travel and every cent. We couldn’t be happier!! The manger has outstanding service 👌👌👌
G. F.
The best ever Customer service and very polite staff.
Excellence in gourmet and ALACARTE,
The best views and the Restaurant is a great place for Family and friends.
We would recommend corporate functions, to all their executives who have been associated with this classy and exquisite and great Gourmet food.
We will always dine at this Restaurant, as we have been going to CITY EXTRA FOR OVER 30 YEARS.
It is a Honour and Priceline to have all our meetings and staff Chritmas get together 's .
w. b.
I liked the lasagna and pumpkin soup, but the burgers and the grilled chicken aren’t good.
G. S.
Nice place. Excellent service and good food.
L. D.
Food was beautiful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere.
N. A. D.
Beautiful vintage 24/7 open restaurant at Wharf 3 of Circual Quay. The place is famous for it's pancakes, fries, desserts and hot drinks. Absolutely loved the ambiance and food. The staffs are very cheerful and always smiling despite being extremely on their toes. Definitely worth going back.
D. H.
The menu is reliable but unfortunately never changes & given the large size of the portions it would be good to have more choices of entre/ main course. Very convenient for shows at the Opera House as service is quite quick.
A. M.
SO DIVINE!! Beautiful view right on the harbour and fish so fresh it melted in my mouth. 100% recommend lunch or dinner here!
N. W.
This place is really great! It has an ideal location right on the wharf, by the ferries, so it is wonderful to sit outside. They are also open 24 hours and have a wide range of food for every meal. The staff is really nice and gave my friends and I colouring and crayons even though we are over 12, haha. SO fun!
A. B.
I have frequented the outdoor tables of City Extra numerous times after just missing my ferry home. A nice spot for a drink with plenty of people watching as all of Circular Quay passes you by. I admit, I haven't eaten here, however the food I have seen come out seems pretty good. Again, not blow away, but not too bad. Not exactly a must visit - but not a bad place to stop into either.
B. M.
Im aware that this restaurant is for pure convenience, and is located in the heart of Sydney, but some of the prices are unjustifiable, especially to the average consumer.
The food was satisfactory, was upset when I found that the beef patty was a 1/3 of the size of the buns.
Customer service was good, a top bloke recommended us to get a jug which saved us $18 (which indicates that even he is aware of the financial unfairness).
This restaurant gets 3 stars from me.
A. M.
Always come here for the Bircher Museli. It’s the best I’ve tasted! Whenever I am in Sydney, I make sure to come for breakfast. The view is so lovely and the staff are great. Highlight this morning was the Rosella stealing sugar off the table and eating it. Then when staff took it away, he jumped onto my table and tried to eat my toast!! Definitely gave everyone a laugh!
B. B.
The service was friendly and reasonably fast. The meals were a good size. There is a novelty factor with the menu which is designed as a newspaper so that makes it a bit fun. The prices are a little expensive if you aren't used to Sydney prices but pretty reasonable for Circular Quay. All in all it is a good quality, 24 hour cafe.
M. B.
This is a great place to enjoy a coffee or light meal with friends and family. Polite helpful service, top food & coffee and all in a world class location.
E. F.
Lovely place, great service and generous meals.
A. Z.
We went there really late after Vivid and despite the crowd we were seated and served pretty fast. Food was good, my only gripe was that I had specifically mentioned that I need the dish without bacon and when the food came it was full of bacon strips. Else decent place for a quick meal
M.
Got there before it got to busy so got a table straight away. Food was nice. Took a while to come out. Average price for the area. Great view. Have been before and will be back again. Staff ALWAYS friendly and happy.
N. &. S. R.
Excellent meal...good value Entertainment voucher 2 main meals for the price of 1 - had mixed grill tender rump steak, chicken wings, sausage/bacon/salad/chips/mushroom sauce (mushrooms in the sauce)! v. good service...a busy Saturday nite too! We are regulars with the Entertainment book vouchers..recommend!
W. H.
Always go here as convenient and a varied menu. Today one of our group ordered a double cheeseburger and it only had one beef patti. Cost $5 for the extra patti. It had two slices of cheese but apparently this is taking the wording to the limit.
B. R.
Service and food was excellent. Would rate the chips that came with my fish as the best I have ever had. Nice place to eat while watching the world go by.
A. K.
We ordered some burgers and chips, and some off their all-day breakfast. Nothing to write home about, priced OK considering the location, but don't expect any views from the ground floor. Service was good.
m.
Probably have the best chips of all times.
Good on them for never closing.
A 10% tax for Sunday meal goers.
My chair want pulled out and menu not open but my friend got that great luxury service. It's cuz I'm black right?
T. W.
Absolutely beautiful food+ amazing service
P. K. U. L.
Great view on Circular Quay which equals a great location. Food is good with a large selection. The actual menu is unique as it's like a newspaper. Some prices were quite expensive, like I paid $7 for a coke.
J. M.
Alexia was a wonderful charming server, super friendly and deserves a raise or something. She made us laugh and feel comfortable and helped us order. Food was okay hamburger was a bit dry but the mushroom sauce was amazing would love to have that on anything!
B. L.
We have been eating here for probably 30 years! Always a great experience. Food is good, service is always attentive and a nice view any time of the day.
I. S.
Nice views for a reasonable price. Food quality is ok but nothing wow, but serving size was good
T. T.
Great for people watching. It's supposedly open 24hrs a day, but I don't know who would come here in the wee small hours! It's nothing special but it does serve as a great location to have a drink whilst you wait for friends to arrive either via ferry or train. Never ordered food here as it does seem a bit plain but tons of tourists seem to so perhaps their cruise guides/tour guides etc. recommended it to them.
K. K.
A little bit touristy trappy, but what can you expect when you've got a restaurant with a view like that! The food was good, although a bit expensive. The service was lovely and very amenable to the some specific requests a picky eater at my table made.
B. J.
Incredibly overpriced and not worth as much as you'd pay for in terms of both quality and portion. The dining experience is simply just a social atmosphere and mainly for the novelty of being in a milk bar-like, vintage table setting, as well as its location of course.
D. J.
I have recently booked the City Extra for a 70th birthday dinner for myself and family before staying in the city overnight. I have been to City Extra before for lunches and have been happy with the food and service. However, upon reading the recent reviews I am a little bit concerned. I certainly hope that things improve before the end of the year, as there will be a lot of people going to the city leading up to Christmas and I hope the management of this venue has read the reviews. I'm still going to give them a go as they are quite central to our program for the day.
J. T.
The food here is good, you must be prepared to pay higher prices because of the location. However the restaurant is large, can cater for larger parties and has quick and efficient service.
A. J.
Great pasta great own cake
c. b.
Very friendly staff. We had pumpkin soup, pancakes and scones. We love it. We will come back again.
R. R.
If you are in Sydney - this has to be a TOP STOP for anyone. If you are near the Opera House... this is just next to it... and they have an incredible menu that will satisfy ALL! I enjoyed several cups of coffee. Also - for a Cafe - their WEB PRESENCE is better than anyone. They are the place to be.
E. I.
The Circular Quay location overlooking the Harbour Bridge is amazing! The staff are friendly but the decor needs to be modernised. The menu is a bit overpriced and could also do with an update too, as I haven't seen the menu change in more than 10 years. Best for tourists, not local city goers looking for a trendy place to eat.
M. K.
Nice coffee shop with a great view at an ideal location. Always open with friendly staff. Bit pricey but worth it if you want to enjoy a coffee and a chat over sydney harbour! Good dessert menu as well, offering inside and outside seating.
R. O.
Great location and setting. Presentation was great. Prices were ok.
T. O.
city extra is an awesome place for a late night coffee or bite to eat. it is a little bit pricey for a 24 hour cafe however oh so convenient. the location on the water makes for a beautiful sight with the harbour bridge off in the distance. lovely place and love to bring friends there and even a date after a movie
M. S.
It's a beautiful restaurant to dine in with a view of harbour bridge.
K.
Best chips and garlic bread I have ever had! Great to come here after being on a ferry around the harbor.
D. H.
Don't underestimate it. Looks naff. Isn't at all, really lovely staff, and tasty food. Open early and we had the healthy breakfast totally hit the spot. Also we went late and, serving drinks late outside. Not too many places do that. Easy peasy meeting spot. Time could be waisted finding somewhere naff and pretentious. Or you could spend your time talking to your company and getting down to the gritty details.
C. B.
24/7 cafe
Good quality & variety of meal options.
Attentive and efficient service from floor staff.
10% (?) surcharge (weekend/public holiday) meant a coffee cost over $7
D. A.
Busy restaurant! Food is ok. I had Tbone steak but eventually cyange it to Rump steak since theres off to the taste . But overall its a good restaurant with a very nice view of the circular quay ...nice location for a quick lunch before heading off to somewhere or dinner after a days tour..
j. g. t.
this restaurant is just by the exit of circular quay train station. the food isnt remarkably delicious nor disgracefully poor, just decent enough to load you up for the next few hours of sight seeing and wandering. it was my first visit so i took the time going through the menu and asked a few questions about the food. the crew didnt rush me for my choice of order so it took a while before i made up my mind. while eating a crew approached me and asked about the food. i was having a burger then. i find the price is a little too expensive and it seems most food chain in the area are.
N. M.
One of those places you can saunter into any time of the night to satiate any craving. Dessert was our Achilles Heel and the pancakes, brulee and ice cream hit the spot. If you're a devout foodie with a delicate palate and the hubris of a celebrity chef, then this isn't the place for you. But if you're after a plethora of options at any time of the day or night, then City Extra should pique your interest. Service is always efficient and friendly.
N. K. K.
Had the Australian/New Zealnd pastry- Pavlova (seems to be the only place that has it after 5pm) in CBD. We tried it for the first time so nothing to compare against. But I think this was good, not great. very little fruit on top and from what I've read, the inside should be chewy and this wasn't. City extra is a good place though, 24hr, decent food.
H. C.
Would technically give this place 3.5 stars. It's a cozy place to hangout, 24 hours (which is fantastic), good variety on the menu, good location. The price was pretty crazy considering that the food wasn't anything special though, I can't believe how much I paid for my shepherds pie! Sooo, if you're willing to pay too much, then it's okay.
P. C.
Watch the circular quay buskers from here with a fresh coffee and all day breakfast
S. P.
Great spot right at circular quay to have a beer and snack.
Great view of the harbour bridge
C. S.
Super friendly service and great location on the harbor. Also really good wifi. Food variety is great, but both times I've been, the food quality/taste was lacking.
M. T.
The food was always good. We went for just drinks more than we are there. The staff were always helpful and welcoming. It's in a perfect spot and is really convenient for transport.
R. A.
No idea why so many negative feedbacks, went there last week and thought the food was delicious(at least the two we ordered), especially loved the chips. Staff was nice, unlike what I read here. And of course great view. We used coupons...otherwise it is a bit overpriced.
J. C.
Right in the middle of Circular Quay and a short walk to both The Rocks and in the other direction the iconic Sydney Opera House. Perfect for people watching. Oh did I mention the foods pretty good too. Try the burger.
D. T.
Great place for an early morning breakfast when you are recovering from jetlag. Better breakfast, prices, better view than the local hotels. Great coffee drinks as well! We ate there 3 times while on vacation in Sydney.
P. L.
The service here was quite nice as they deliver and serve you quite promptly. The food itself is very average and doesn't really justify the price. Was actually not a fan of the sauces at all.
L. B. (.
Extremely & fantastic service from a young lady named Nadia. Your beautiful smile finished our day on a high note.
T.
Fish and chips were YUM! Pretty consistent food-wise and convenient. Can be a bit on the pricey side.
J. L.
Depends on the time of visit, you'll have very different experiences! Very disappointed with everything when I came at peak hours. I gave it a second chance when it was quiet and it feels like a totally different restaurant much better ! Would love to see the consistency of it like the Parramatta branch.
J. B.
Wide variety of food and great location
V. K.
We asked for fast service and got it. Responsive and friendly staff. Extensive menu but assembly line flavours. My minestrone was tomato soup in thin disguise.
J. S.
Always great food ! Love the scones or that quick coffee. Before hoping on the ferry to manly or Watson bay..take a seat out outside and enjoy the harbour views ! 😎
R. M.
Convenient and moderately priced. Nothing vegetarian advertised on the menu. So although my wife had plenty to eat, options for a non-carnivore are somewhat limited.
R. M.
City Extra doesn't claim to be anything more than it is. In a summary, a 24 hour cafe in a prime location in the city that has good friendly service, over priced fast served consistent food.
I have spent a lot of time here and if your looking for fine dining, then you have stepped into the wrong place.
They do offer a fast take away coffee service again, its not the best coffee in sydney, but it is 24 hours.
They tend to hire international staff who are always friendly and generally happy.
The menu is a newspaper and is fun the first time, listing all the classics you would expect from an American style diner.
The seating is tables and booths with a split level venue. Some of the tables are in reach of a power point which has been convenient for me.
They do have Wifi thats free but the connection isn't wlways reliable so don't depend on it.
The bathroom is always clean and for a place to wait and work, use the rest room , wait for a ferry, and your happy to pay a convenience fee then this is a recommended place.
B. G. T.
Best place to spend quality time with your loved one in a very reasonable, this place must be in your bucket list to visit, right in the heart of circular quay, vintage point of all events in this area. You don"t need to dig deep in your pocket to go there, just visit , you will be surprised with the service and price. I recommend strongly to have a look. It's open 24 hours.
D. K.
Open 24 hrs. Doesn't get much better. I only went there for dessert (I got the creme brulee) and it more than hit the mark. Had a peruse through the menu and there was a nice selection (albeit a little expensive for what it was) so will try and eat there next time. Good location too as it's right on Circular Quay Wharf.
j. d.
Service and food excellent great view from circular key
T. D.
Bit expensive but worth trying, my friend complained about quantity of food and he is not happy about what he paid for breakfast he had eaten.
G. H.
Good food. Open 24 hrs so that is very convenient when you are walking around the area and it is late. You would think other restaurants would be open but other than McDonald's there's nothing else. Good place overall
R. R.
Great food at any time of day. 24 hours when ever you are hungry. Friendly staff at a beautiful location. Stunning views.
T. L. “. B.
A wonderful mix of great food, nice and helpful staff, old fasioned architecture and menus and a chill atmosphere gives this restaurant an old timey feel. would recomend going at a quiet time when there are no city based events e.g. Vivid. as they get packed rather fast.
J. M.
Canadian breakfast and flat white...need I say more? City Extra never disappoints...what ever time of the day.
M. M.
Good for kids but not somewhere I would chose to go again. I think there are too many other nice options within walking distance. Food was ok. Some gluten free options but nothing to write home about.

Canadian breakfast there is amazing, wasn't a fan of the hash browns though but aside from that everything was good. Great cup of coffee service with a smile and some good picture opportunities.

My daughter loves the Avotoast! We go here everytime we are in the city because she has to have this Avocado toast. She has a poached egg on it as well. I love the fruit salad it's always fresh and yummy.

Good service good food
D. I.
Food was nothing special but expensive. This is to be a expected due to its location on Circular Quay. But It's open 24 hours and you can get a table. Service was good
T. W.
5am visit and the night shift manager hasn't seen me for about 6 weeks, due to shift changes and my timetable, but my "regular" breaky and coffee came without me even having to place an order. Good old fashioned customer service goes a long way.
D. L.
One of my favourite places in Sydney. Love the harbour views, fantastic food and great staff too.
P. C.
City extra is simple, easy place to meet people and get food. It's great for all ages and hasn't changed in ages so if you've been before you know what your getting.
It does get busy but the staff take it all in their stride and serve with a smile.

This place is an institution for very late night Dinners. Menu is slightly tired and would be great to see an upgrade to the menu in the future. Food and wine is good and prices are what you would expect for restaurants in the local area.

It is very rare to find 24 hrs opening restaurant in Syd. This is one of the rare ones. It is located right under the train station and in front of ferry terminals so very busy and loud. It's good for quick drinks or coffee to kill the time before ferry departure. Food is very average and atmosphere is nothing romantic nor relaxing.
A. N.
Great food and best views, not much else need be said. Spectacular.😎❤
C. S.
Gotta love City Extra after an amazing trip on the Manly Ferry, we were seated and enjoyed our all time favourites, tbone and salad with a Carona or two for my man and seafood mornay crepe for me with house cab merlot plus the new apple pie w cream and ice cream to share. Service with a smile.
J. N. K.
Great view and atmosphere. It was our first place to eat at when we moved to Sydney. But the food wasn't that great, not bad, but was a little let down with the taste.
P. J.
Nice crepes and toast good size long black fast service and very reasonable prices for location
J. R.
Whenever I'm in Sydney I try to get here. The food is amazing and the Apple pie is to die for. 10/10 would recommend
J. K.
Good to eat with anytime. But bit overpriced.
M. B.
Not super expensive, and you can get some fresh made food with vegetables. Shepard pie is good. Liked the bruschetta. And linguini. They have HP sauce if you ask.
A. “. A.
I am rating this as a 4 star because it does have a pretty good location, overlooking the ferry wharves and also onto Circular Quay itself.
Meals are expensive but worth it just for the location or if your after a snack (albeit expensive as well). The pancake stack is delectable as is the apple crumble and chocolate mouse!!
City Extra is also wheelchair accessible both within the inside and outside dining areas, though toilet facilities are nearby (wheelchair accessible toilet requires Sydney Trains Staff to open it though)
K. E.
Good coffee and the best raisen toast I've seen in years. Beautifully air conditioned inside - a blissful retreat on a humid Sydney day (particularly for any Ladies suffering through the Big M).
K. E.
Cute restaurant next to the harbour. open 24hours so ideal for jet lagged tourists who wake at 4am. location is good. highly recommend the avocado toast
B. C.
We had breakfast. It was ok. No complaints. Not a very interesting menu, and nothing i couldn't have whipped up easily myself. Fresh fast and friendly.
L. R.
Decent food, but the killer feature is location. There's not a lot of other options for a restaurant meal at the wharves. Upstairs offers the best view and a sort of distance from the tourist crowds.
C. A.
Had a great dining experience.
D. N.
Generally a good place to meet friends and has lots of seating. Food might be a bit over priced, but that aside it's a friendly place to visit.
D. K. T.
Went here for a lovely dinner with the great view of the harbor. The waitresses were friendly. But a bit pricey though.
M. W.
Great food at a good price.
This is where we had our first meal in Sydney and it was a fantastic start to our stay there.
Thanks all at City Extra

Delicious food from various parts of Asia. A bit messy and not the cleanest but worth a visit for a hot meal at any time of the day or night
s. m.
The steak wasn't great...
The pasta wasnt fresh....
The staff were lovely tho.
J. O.
Exquisite delicious breakfast feast of Eggs Benedict with delightful fresh smoked salmon and Hollandaise sauce. Accompanied with a fresh cloudy apple juice and followed by an enjoyable chai latte. All eaten with a magnificent view of the sun rising in all its glory sparkling over Sydney Harbour, Circular Quay with the Sydney Harbour bridge shining bright.
L. M.
Food was a bit dry and the place lacks atmosphere. However, the staff were nice and it's an OK place to eat and have a coffee later at night, if you can afford it. Pricey for what you get.
J. S.
Great place for a meal or a coffee.View out of this world.Andrea our waitress was superb.Great personality & very helpful.
L. P.
Trendy, waiters are very attentive, helpful and sensitive to the needs of the customers. Food and beverages are served fast and attention to details are given. would I come here again? Yes indeed!
S. “. E.
I highly recommend City Extra. I have a Life Coaching business and I often have connections with my clients here. City Extra has a great view if the Harbour Bridge, the coffee is great, the food is good and Nick and team have great service.
J. B.
Can have a view of the bridge from here. Cool menu too
J. R.
Surprisingly, but happily so, delicious! Best chicken schnitzel I've had in a long while.
C. L.
Great service great food ,great views of the harbor bridge. First time there .we were here to catch up with my brother sister in law and niece after 10 years ,we are from perth .Great night recommend to anyone .

They are open 24 hours. Great location and friendly staff. Great place for meeting up with friends at anytime. Relatively easy to find. At night the city street parking is free as well.
J. M.
Lovely view, good food and friendly staff!
C. W.
its nice, table service friendly. alays liked its 24hrs. Food tasy big portions, little expensive but good value as weve got lunch tomorrow with what we couldnt eat
K. K.
The reasturant is old and run down and prices are very high for what it is but, the staff are always lovely and the food tastes pretty good.
M. L.
Great portions, but the food isn't right. City Extra needs to revamp their menu. Awesome location but the food just doesn't match its surroundings.
K. R.
Went to City Extra Circular Quay last night. I ordered the Chicken and Mushroom Crepes, they come without Cream. I checked whether they should have Cream and the Waiter said No they don't, yet the Cheese and Spinach Crepes come with Cream. They weren't too dry but a little Cream would have just added a little bit extra. My husband though ordered a Tooheys Extra dry which was off, so they changed it but the next was off as well, he changed to VB this was also off. The use by date is June 2016. They are obviously saving money by buying beer cheap cause it's close to the Use by date but at around $7.50 a beer it should at least be drinkable. The waiter was lovely but we decided not to go there after the concert for Coffee and desert before the drive home as my Husband would have liked a beer so I had Mcdonalds coffee and took it to the Ship Inn.
K. W.
The best fish and chips on the planet
N. M.
This is the best located, best value and best food at the quay. The pumpkin soup is great at any time of year but the in-house made bun that comes with it and other food is to die for.
S. B.
Brilliant hours, and good food/drinkable wine at a reasonable price point. The interior is interesting, probably up to an individual's tastes, and the service can be a bit iffy at times.
S. S.
Great location! Great service!
v.
Great food love the view, the waiters were lovely but it was a little pricey but definitely coming back
A. W.
Plenty of food options. If you let the staff know you are in a hurry, your order can be prioritised. Food is decent quality, and a good portion size. Nice view at night
A. “. B.
Yummy food but always have issues with wait staff understanding us
K. F.
This is a regular for my family!
The food and service are amazing, you can rock up in a tshirt and shorts or business attire, everyone is treated equally regardless! Even better, they are open ALL THE TIME :)
P. h.
just had coffe and it was very tasty
P. O.
It has a good range of food on the menu, it's open all hours and has a great view of the Harbour Bridge. My only complaint is that it is a bit expensive.
P. H.
All good. Hasn't changed a bit since last time here about 5 years ago... and all the better for it. Fish pie & a few beers along with one of the most iconic views in the world... :)
J. L.
Friendly, fast service, tasty meals, child friendly
F. S.
Fun, convenient restaurant next to the wharfs in Sydney Harbor. A little pricey. The outside seating is a good place for people watching.
G. H.
Extensive menu at friendly prices. Pleasant and efficient staff, the food is good and arrives quickly. Premium location next to public transport.
V. H.
I got a toasted vegetable sandwich, supposedly with pesto and parmesan but mostly bland cheese and flavorless, mushy vegetables. Would have been dramatically improved with dash of chutney/aioli/pesto/anything on the side, but no.
C. S. W.
Great food (fish and chips were fresh and fried to perfection), beautiful views and genuinely sincere service. Even our fussy toddler enjoyed it!
A. D.
A bit pricey, but the vibe is fantastic. Seeing the ferry and the habour bridge while you eat is great. Sticky date pudding was huge and delicous
T. S.
Food is quite nice, interesting choice of menu by using the newspaper. Food is quite good but not the best I've had. Value is okay considering the type of dining.
K. S.
Food good but pricey, however given the good position that's acceptable. Very friendly, helpful staff.
J. A.
Reasonable prices given it's at circular quay and nice view of the harbour bridge and the ferries
C. K.
Pretty good food and decent pricing especially for circular quay. Great views if you can get an outside or window seat
J. H.
The lunch was very reasonable for Australia. We both had fish & chips that was good. You set on the wharf and watch the boats come and go.
T. M.
24/7 restaurant at Circular Quay. Sit and watch the ferries come in an out. The big fresh bread rolls are great but there's plenty more to choose from and they are willing to bend a bit with their menu e.g. honey instead of maple syrup or salad instead of chips ☺
W. H.
Good food, huge portions, super quick service. Excellent place for dinner before or after a show! But it does get pretty busy.
j. l.
Amazing view of Circular Quay. The food is great and the staff very pleasant. Exceptionally good breakfast options. A perfect place to grab a quick bite in the morning.
B. C.
Great venue be it for coffee, snack or main meals. Views of harbour and bridge. Food is very good and wait staff provide great service.
L. F.
Had breakfast here Sunday morning - the best hot chocolate and pancakes with ice cream and strawberries. Will visit again when in Sydney.
R. G.
This is a great spot for late night munchies or jus a pleasant lunch at the wharf. The menu has something for everyone and the food is quite good.
k. d.
Rainbow Lorikeets raid the sugar off the tables! So cute
C. D.
Pleasant servers, awful wine, over-salted calamari. Dessert fine. Lovely location on a balmy Sydney spring night
K. V.
Amazing food
Service was great
J. D.
Such a great location for a stop, to work on my laptop, to meet a colleague or client.
P. F.
Better than most for late night food and great view. Would have given higher rating but the menus combined with the lighting make the menus difficult to read
Y. N.
We only had cocktails here, which were great, fresh and Happy Hour so a very good price as well.
J. M.
Hit or miss with this place. Service is slow and you'll need to flag one of the wait staff your order taken.
View is good and people watching is entertaining.
P. A.
Was invited here for a friends birthday party and the staff were amazing and friendly. The harbour view dining area on the top level is amazing and the food was good 😀
