Love the vibe, the music, staff are all really friendly, we came here for the first dinner ever in city this year. Fresh made meal, really tasty! 100% will recommend to friends.
G.
Great restaurant if you love Lebanese food!
I read online that it was going to be a Japanese/Lebanese fusion but there was no Japanese fusion that I found haha
No issues, the dishes were delicious and our server Sandra was absolutely lovely! She’s extremely knowledgeable and is the best person for that job!
We also got the baklava takeaway but I didn’t take a photo of it sadly! Looked delicious though :)
L. B.
Great restaurant and vibe. Food was delicious, great portions and quality cocktail options. Loved the music - impressive playlist. Will definitely go back!!
T. W.
Ticks all the boxes. Awesome atmosphere, brilliant staff, LOVED the food - huge range, all delicious (baba ganoush w miso (yum), crispy chicken, vine leaves, lamb kofta, cauliflower (wow), calamari AND accommodated a vego & gluten intolerant). So reasonably priced. We went for an early sitting before a show with my in-laws and it was perfect for that BUT would be great with mates, you could imagine having a very fun night here. Wouldn’t bother trying elsewhere anymore, this would be our go-to for all occasions.

Cubby's is a city restaurant gem. The food is exceptionally good, hearty and generous. The service is welcoming, attentive and faultless. It's an incredible find in a typically pretentious corner of Sydney.
N. G.
Loved Cubbys. The food was fantastic - tasty and authentic with a few modern and welcome twists. Don't forget to try the cocktails, especially this beauty (yep that's a straw). The decor is gorgeous, good vibes and the staff are great. I'll be going back.

Really lovely, sweet and courteous staff. This was a random find and it did not disappoint. The entrance door was hard to find and lighting down the stairs in nil but the interior Decor was beautiful. The bar and kitchen looked awesome. The Lamb kofta and chicken shish were both so very wonderful, the fatoush added a bit of flair, was heavily dressed in vinegar but wonderful. The hummus and the bread available to dip offered were soft and crunchy. The hands down winner was the corn. Beautifully toasted to a crisp but offering so many wonderful flavours. A treat!
K. S.
One of the few places in Circular Quay serving food after 930pm on a Monday night and we were not disappointed. The special hummus with pulled lamb was sensational. I could have just stopped at that! Triple cooked potatoes were devilish and the chicken shish was perfectly cooked. And oh the garlic sauce!! Good wine and beer selection. Nice place! Spent $70 for 2 with a drink each.
T. V.
Would rate 6/5 if it was possible. Intimate setting with a cool vibe, fitting music and great service. The food and presentation are next level. We had the baba ganoush, fatoush, labne, potatoes and chicken (special). Cinnamon tea was a great finisher for an amazing meal.
H. C.
Fantastic food and excellent service as always.
A great menu of food and cocktails.
Good for a quick meal or a night out with friends or colleagues.
Tapas style dishes, small portions designed to share so you can try a range of tasty dishes.
Highly recommended.
A.
The food here is incredible high-end Middle eastern food. Very happy with all we ordered. The char-grilled prawns were incredible. The setting is formal but still casual. Highly recommend.
S. G.
Friendly spot with great shared options, Lebanese flavours with a hint of asian influence. Decent wine list and a few wines by the glass.
The humus with shelled edamame and chilli was ok, breads were nice, the fattoush had a heavy helping of cinnamon but everything went really nicely with the lamb and rice shawarma. Without being too heavy on the garlic, and without being too dry, everything just worked together.
Service was friendly and pretty fast, and the room isn't as cold as it first looks, perhaps some softer furnishings would benefit the space, and I expect when the restaurant is full it might be a little noisy, but sitting at the communal table towards the back we were fine.
A great option for a pre-show dinner.
E. B.
Chilled atmosphere just off the main road, friendly and helpful staff and, most important, mouthwatering delicious food!! The few dishes I've tried were scrumptious, the babaganoush is possibly the best I've ever had, Smokey and flavourful.
Small tapas dishes but very filling.
P. P.
There aren't many good Middle Eastern restaurants in Sydney's CBD. This changed when Cubby's Kitchen relocated from their Surry Hills venue. Cubby's showcases traditional Lebanese cuisine with a new twist. If you missed their pop-up restaurant on Crown Street, don't worry, they have kept some of the classics including miso baba ganoush, hummus with edamame and fatoush salad, whilst adding exciting new dishes to the menu.
R. B.
What an experience, awsome place with exceptional quality, friendly waitresses and what a #vegan #wholefoodplantbased selection!
Loved the place, if you are in town, vegan, whole food plant based or not just make sure you visit them!
M.
Food is pretty good, wouldn’t say it’s very impressive but above average. But the whole experience is nice, considered there are not many similar restaurants near Circular Quay and Wynyard, this tucked away semi underground place is very special. Great place if you are visiting or just want to spend a good time with friends after work. But the wine menu is not sth I would recommend.
A. C.
Great Lebanese food... I like the hummus with edamame, cauliflower, fried chicken and barramundi... Great introduction to Lebanese cuisine...
H. W.
Good friendly service with fast turn around. Some interesting fusion ideas? Was in a hidden underground bar which added to the appeal.
t.
Great food and choc is a legend. Knows how to do customer service extremely well
S. T.
Absolutely amazing food and service!!
A. C.
A fantastic restaurant. Great service, great food, and a great environment. I look forward to coming back.
M. A.
Came here with a group of 4 and ate allot of food!! Labne and special hommus are amazing, had the fried chicken, chicken and lamb shish, cauliflower potato and corn (all recommended!!). Barramundi was a little over cooked but that was the only miss of the night.
All up cost was around $50 per person with byo wine. Great night, although hard to hear others talking sometimes as the music is quite loud.
Service was great, very attentive, and actually suggested the perfect amount of food for the 4 of us.
Thanks !!
L. L.
Not as good as before, pre Covid-19 it was great - Particularly the service from the co-owner Anthony . We have been here twice previous to this - both fantastic experiences.
This time in a work group of 24, we had the banquet
- highlights the starter (hummus etc) and dessert (baklava)
- lowlights - the vegetarian mains were forgotten after everyone else had got through their mains we felt it necessary to remind the wait staff. There was no apology, only a dismissive from the waitress “well you can take away the food” which rather defeats the point of a sit-in meal.
- The Lamb was dry, the falafel dense
We would have overlooked the food disappointment and not chosen to write a review had the service been better. There was no apology for forgetting the vegetarian mains, they made the guests feel as it it was their fault for requesting the food.
Sadly the service ruined the experience and we won’t be back.
C. S.
We went Saturday and despite sudden COVID changes the service at Cubbys was second to none, very accommodating and friendly, even from the kitchen staff. The food was sublime. The barramundi was literal perfection and is still being discussed by guests. I can't imagine how anyone could find fault with the incredible authentic babaganoush and the vegetarians both recieved their cauliflowers first and had much praise for it. We also warmly received the very stylish fattoush and lamb. We are already planning several trips back. Do yourself a favour whilst here and try the cocktails because I cannot recommend them enough. A big thank you to the whole team here for making our night!
C.
Cute hidden restaurant, close to Circular Quay with a relaxed vibe. Food was good too, particularly the Labne and mixed skewers. There were 2 vegetarians in our group and they said there was enough options on the menu for them. The only downside for us , and why not 5 star for me, was that we were seated directly under a speaker and the music was a tad loud for our 6pm seating as we couldn’t hear each other speak. Would go back, but would request to be seated away from a speaker this time
J. B.
We celebrated a birthday here this evening and I honestly was so beyond impressed with firstly the incredible and comforting hospitality of the staff and owners, secondly the well presented dim lit dive bar restaurant style setting, but most importantly the ridiculously delicious food and extreme generosity with the amount served to our table of 9.
Very very well priced and left a smile on every face at the table. Can’t wait to come back ASAP!
10/10
J. C.
Great share plates and lively atmosphere
C. M.
Amazing atmosphere and music, very friendly staff. Food was absolutely incredible and reasonably priced
J. M.
Great food, great prices. Loved it!
M. A.
the fattouch salad was very tasty, the grilled mixed place was perfectly grilled, the only thing is they should take it easy on the spices for the lamb kafta. it just overrides the taste of the meat.
A. T.
I enjoyed everything about Cubby's Kitchen! The service was brilliant and all of the staff were helpful and friendly. The ladies fingers and crispy squid were my favourite dishes! Overall great tasting Lebanese food in a buzzing, lively atmosphere! Will be recommending this place to friends and will definitely be back for more..
S. D. A.
Had our Team dinner there food and staff were fantastic!!! Loved that customizing the banquet for the single vegetarian in our group was no hassle for the Cubby staff
A. T.
Delicious food with varied selection of meats and veg options. There was also a great selection of Lebanese wines and beers in addition to the more familiar ones. The service was warm and friendly. Would definitely recommend as a little gem close to Circular Quay.
T. C.
The staff were awesome and the food was great.
M. G.
Had an amazing meal and driinks at Cubby's tonight. The host Anthony and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Highly recommended.
S. S.
All these good reviews... many but short and not informative. The place appeared well overrated to me or I must have been spoiled with a way better lebaneese food. Not satisfied with freshness of salad ingredient, other ingredient and meat delivery average, taste average to below average, value for money is my lowest rating. Watched dishes served to others - not even looking impressive.
K. P.
Food was really nice. We shared lots of dishes. Favs were the babagonoush and cauliflower however the service was a bit slow and we felt rushed out at the end of the meal.
M. B.
Great restaurant with tasty food! I discovered it when they were on crown Street and was disappointed to learn they moved to Circular Quay at first. But I had the chance to come back recently and still love the place. Shared food is the best as it let you have a taste of the different Lebanese treats :)
A. B.
We were a group of 8 and opted for set menu 56$ PP. It was a 9 course menu and have to say that was a bit disappointing! Except the Kebab and humos couldn't really see anything special. A bowl of olives was counted as a dish! A plate of creamy cheese and deep fried potato were other foods in our menu. Many of these were not tasty or even Lebanese. Food was ok but don't think worth 56$! Nice atmosphere.
L. L.
Not as good as before, pre Covid-19 it was great - Particularly the service from the co-owner Anthony . We have been here twice previous to this - both fantastic experiences. …
H. K.
This place is amazing, the food is great and the people are lovely and friendly and it feels very welcoming. I highly recommend their skewers, and I very much enjoy the lady's fingers too. Top notch joint.
L. N.
Great food

Stopped in Sydney for 3 nights and booked some lovely restaurants but this was the cheapest and the best by far. Fantastic night, service was amazing and the food excellent.
K. P.
Food was really nice. We shared lots of dishes. Favs were the babagonoush and cauliflower however the service was a bit slow and we felt rushed out at the end of the meal.
P. Q.
Must try kunafa❤
J. M.
Nice food, clean place, good service
N. F.
Really tasty food! Welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. I would go here again. Drinks menu is interesting also.
J. P.
Amazing restaurant with yummy food! The owner accommodated 10 of us or so without booking at 5.30pm on a Saturday night. Meals came out quickly and were so delicious!
We also were allowed to split the bill.
I will definately return!
I. R.
This place is fantastic. Such great staff that really cares about a good food experience. The food is delicious and a good variety of meats, dips, and some vegetables. Would definitely recommend for a group of 4+ people to have a nice meal together.
M. B.
Lovely intimate and homely setting. Gorgeous host, friendly staff and absolutely great food! Lebanese like you haven't tasted before. The prawns, lamb and chicken sheesh was wonderful. The fatoush was different but delicious and the knanefi dessert was to die for. The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommended for a night of great dining 😃
J. J.
The Babaganoush was amazing & one of five awesome dishes we had last Saturday night. We had an incredible cocktail called an Araktini which was a signature drink & so easy to gulp down. We would definitely go back to try other dishes and a few we already had as they were so good! The staff were fantastic & very friendly. Nothing would’ve been an issue for them if we asked but to be honest everything was great!
P. G.
The place is great for a group social occasion as the staff can be quite engaging and warm - even having a drink with you! The vegie options aren't exceptional but what it does it does pretty well. Worth a visit as there are few Lebanese places down this side of town.
S. H.
The staff is very good and helpful. The food its ok I found the falafel too dry and if you book after 8.00pm basically the main dishes are not available!!
J. M.
The food here is sensational - We started with the Hummus and the Babganoush with generous serving of breads, followed by the CFC Cubby's Fried Chicken (a must)- spicy and dense with flavour.
The Vege Rock and Rolls were delicious also and paired very well with the yoghurt dip. The chicken shish was delicious, cooked perfectly.
We ended with the Knafeh, which was probably the weakest comparatively because everything was fantastic - but by all means not bad. I thought it was pleasant but my guest thought it tasted 'soapy' which is likely due to the rose syrup. It really depends on your own personal tastes. That said, it was too rich to finish by myself.
I do love that the restaurant is BYO which means it's a great venue to enjoy delicious food and not worry about busting the bank account. I'll definitely be back to bring friends to try out the banquets and there's so much more on the menu that I want to taste. Overall, fantastic!
P. L.
Had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again. The food is so good here. Bring your appetite because portions are large. The service was very welcoming and observant.
p. p.
What a find!! A gem in the city. Fabulous food and a terrific vibe. A treat to have the co owner and Rugby legend Anthony Watmough greet us at the door. If you love Lebanese food this is the place! You won’t be disappointed- six stars!!
D. L.
First time we went we had a blast and loved the food. Brought the kids and husband back and everyone left hungry - felt the portions were a bit meager even though we felt we ordered a lot. Still think the food is yummy though!
G. G.
Thoroughly enjoyable middle eastern food with a twist.
C. M.
All round great food and great service.
A. P.
Hidden away amongst the streets and alleys of Sydney. Full Lebanese flavour and great service with value for money price tag. Try the traditional garden salad (which looks creative) and beer which is unique.
M. A.
Go here and you will not be dussapobited. Delicious food, good service, Not in expensive category too. It's a nice looking restaurant. Overall really happy and recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something different.. Food is not oily, smell good, taste good and after eating it, feels good. What else to ask.
Place is not visible enough, we went in night and had bit of issues to find it.
J. Z.
Great space in the middle of the CBD, has large tables for easy sharing. We had the banquet menu and ended up with loads of food. The food was nice although nothing really stood out as spectacular. Overall, it was a good experience and brings that Surry Hills vibe to the CBD.
G. C.
Love this place! Waitress extremely helpful to match my vegan plus gluten free dietary needs! Chef is so accommodating and inclusive of dietary issues. Beautiful, delicious food!
N. F.
Really tasty food! Welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. I would go here again. Drinks menu is interesting also.
L. C.
Food flavour and presentation was great, everything was super yummy, the labne and hommos, were delicious. A couple of things to change
1) lower the lights a little in the evening it will make for more ambiance
2) the employees get on with each other very well, they look like they have a lot of fun (great to see) however it would be good if they checked in with customers a little more ie, we tried to get someone’s attn for the bill over 10 mins and were unsuccessful, I had to get up and ask for it.
Otherwise loved the place and will def be back.
A. H.
I really liked this place. Chilli sausages were just the right heat and super tasty. Lamb shawarma is is tender, pulled lamb shoulder on a bed of rice with almond and pine nuts. Great service and good vibe
E. A.
So it was our last night in Sydney and we were craving something fresh clean and light because of all the great food we had had on the trip thus far. Lebanese immediately came to mind and found Cubby’s on google maps. Read the reviews and decided to take our last adventure to Cubby’s and it was the best decision ever. My wife is Lebanese and knows authentic Lebanese food from the wannabes. Folks this place is legit! It’s got a bit of Asian fusion but does not distract or disappoint. If you can handle the $$$ get the “banquet” option where they roll out the complete Lebanese fan fare you can handle for about $58 AUD per person ($43 USD). You would pay quite a bit more if you ordered individual portions. Best deal if you want a variety of dishes. Loved the underground location with a touch of Lebanese decor, very clean comfortable seating with lots of dinner lighting and hip music. We hit the place on a Tues evening around 6:30pm and the place filled up fast. I would imagine for a weekend dinner a reservation will be a must because of the limited seating. We chatted with co-owner Anthony, extremely warm and friendly guy, you can really sense the passion and love he has for the business and for his patrons. It definitely showed in our experience there. I highly recommend this place and will come back next time we’re in Sydney. Thanks Anthony for making our last meal in Sydney the best!!!
K. N.
Had a booking for 6.00 pm . Ordered drinks and then food . 2 dishes that we ordered weren't brought out until about 45 mins to an hour after the other dishes were brought out .We had just finished eating the dishes that arrived late and not long after that a waitress came to our table and told us that we have to leave in 10 mins as the table is rebooked . Would have been nice to have had dessert and coffee , though we were more or less told to pay the bill and leave . We had no prior knowledge that we had a limited time there. The food however was very nice. Though shabby customer service let the night down .
F. Z.
Great find. Fantastic food and excellent service. We walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night, and found a spot for us between booking. Food came out quickly, and they even moved booking around to allow us to stay longer. Above and beyond the call of duty.
Big portions, tasty tasty tasty food. The barramundi was to die for, as was their lamb Kafta. Wow guys, loved it.
D. S.
I am no connoisseur of good food but I have to admit the food here is absolutely divine. The service was professional and the staff were great. I would highly, highly recommend Cubby's Kitchen.
I. I.
Excellent Lebanese food with a twist. Done very well and with Lebanese beer and wine. Great service and atmosphere. Good for small and large groups
P. W.
Stopped in Sydney for 3 nights and booked some lovely restaurants but this was the cheapest and the best by far. Fantastic night, service was amazing and the food excellent.
R. E.
Excellent testing Lebanese dishes. Particularly liked Cubby's Special Hummus, the vine leaves, and the barramundi. Also the lamb Kafka was excellent. Enjoyed the music and vibe as well.
H. K.
Small portions for the price. Food is OK. Simple food menu which is good. We ordered lot many things as we're big group. Service is good. Didn't find anything too exciting.
P. H.
This is some quality Lebanese food. Old favourites revitalised with all sorts of goodness, lamb shwarma was ridiculously good. Great value with amazing food.
E. J.
Amazing food and great service. Cubby's Kitchen is one of those restaurants that has both incredible food as well as being completely affordable. Great with large groups as well with all plates perfect for sharing. Also great BYO option in Surry Hills
H. T.
Absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced.
S. L.
Loved every dish we tasted. The vine leaves were very nice, as was the vege rolls. The music and vibe are great. Manager was helpful and friendly.
N. C.

I had high expectations and was not disappointed. The small and simple menu had so many great dishes that repeat visits will be necessary ! Service , food and ambiance get 11.5/10
W. L.
We had a team dinner there and it was amazing! The host was so friendly and kind and the service was great. We had the $69 banquet and it was a feast. Highly recommend.
M. S.
Delicious fresh food. Great casual dining location. Anthony is great; he'll look after you for food and drinks - ask for recommendations.
M. V.
The banquet was very nice. Some delights were fresh cooked olives in the entree, crunchy falafel, and tasty fried chicken
M. E.
The food was absolutely incredible, the drinks were delicious and the staff were fabulous.
Couldn’t recommend this place higher. I love Lebanese food and this is the best I have tasted in Sydney.
S. H.
Amazing food. Great service. Not pretentious. The hummus is fantastic. And their version of fatoush is a winner. Wine list is small, but well selected.
M. D.
Went on two friends recommendations and was not disappointed. Recommend and will return one day.

M. C.
We came without a reservation and was not dissapointed. The staff and meals were amazing. This restaurant exceeds at every level.
R. L.
Food was quite good, prawns well cooked but overpriced at $28 for 2 and 1/2. Didn’t know there were specials until we ask what a dish was on the next table. Service poor.
A. H.
The best lebanese food you can ever get in Sydney. The service, the management, the location and litterally everything about this place is satisfying. Highly recommended!!!!
J. L.
Good food, good vibes. I highly recommend the grilled prawns dish and the eggplant dish. For it's location and it's ambience, I think the value is great.
E. C.
my favourite Mediterranean restaurant in the city. excellent chicken shish and good dips.
E. W.
Amesome staff, food is epic! Come here regularly . New location is good, just needs a bit less lighting to get the vibe of the old place!
J.
Great atmosphere. Exceptional food. One of our main go-to places for special occassions.
J. N.
The food was good, but it felt a bit understaffed when we were there. Service was a bit slow, and staff at that time weren't that approachable..
S.
Love this place. Food is amazing, with some great twists on middle eastern dishes, such as miso baba ghanoush. Every dish was a stand out.
S. K.
Everything was amazing and would 100% recommend. But don't book at 8pm because the kitchen closes at 9pm and you won't get dessert.
J. L.
Very tasty good food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return when next in Sydney.
P. M.
Brilliant middle eastern food, great for groups. One sees lots of after work parties there. Recommended any time.
