R. C.Our group of hungry thirsty Mountain Bike Riders enjoyed superb food with excellent service from our two wait persons. My cheese and bacon burger was easily one of the best I've had and the fries served hot with just the right amount of salt on them. Desserts were sticky date pudding which was delicious and a crunchy chocolate brownie served in a long glass topped with good quality Ice Cream. I enjoyed a Boulters Cloudy ale, a boutique beer similar to Little Creatures but maybe even better. Our whole group enjoyed their lunch and we will definitely be going back.

W. M.Holmesville Hotel is a great place for a post-ride (mountain bike!) feed, beverage, and catch-up with mates. Standard pub fare, decent selection of beers.
The outside beer garden means you can keep an eye on your bike if it's on the back of your car.
M. W.Had a nice enjoyable meal from here, and comparable in cost to other venues. Staff were friendly, parking is easy, but need your GPS to find the venue. Food was quite enjoyable, finished it all. Would come back again.

N. M.Meal was good, recommended. But another of these hotels that donot want to put Light Beer on tap. But have stubbies in an endeavour to appease us light beer drinkers and to be seen to be abiding by the responsible service of alcohol. So I will not be visiting this venue again anytime in the near future.

K. N.The atmosphere was great, staff were friendly and the meals were quite large, but unfortunately my meal was a bit bland. I had the chicken schnitzel, but it didn't taste as nice as other pub schnitzels I have had in the past. My husband enjoyed his crumbed lamb cutlets, but suspects the mash potato was deb. Cutlery was already on the table when we arrived. I have read that due to Covid regulations, that tables should have nothing on them untill your meal arrives.

Staff were tip top & the food.... omg, the food was nothing short of amazing with generous helpings of everything & tasted divine.
The salt & pepper squid you see in the photos was a starter size, as were the chicken wings... Yes, you read that right. I honestly should’ve just ordered that alone. The salmon on the specials board was cooked to perfection & the sweet potato ‘mash’ bed it was sitting on was the most silky I had I had ever tasted. It was like velvet in your mouth, yes really! Plenty of gluten free options too. The garlic bread in the pic below was GF.
Highly recommend a visit to this place & will definitely be returning there & I suggest you all try it out too! 10/10

G.My Partner and I had an awesome n beautifully cooked chicken snitzel dinner, and the staff were super friendly and attentive, were also been back with a friend and had the fish,chips n salad lunch time special. Over all best pub meals I believe in the Hunter, you gotta try it n you won't be disappointed. Amazingly attentive staff n can't speak highly enough about the service we receive on every occasion

A.Went here as I’d heard good reviews but I was a bit dissapointed actually. The service was good and the steak cooked well but the seating area was so noisy and smelt like smoke as it opens into the gaming area.wont be rushing back.

It has given a space that recently felt cluttered, dark and empty an open and inviting atmosphere that would be suited to wedding functions and small gatherings. The food has stepped up it's game in all aspects with a menu that isn't too far out there but giving a twist on classic pub food. Overall it was a hidden piece of coal that has turned itself into a gem.

The restaurant inside was packed too, so we were extremely fortunate to get a table for two so quickly and our order served just as fast.

J. H.If you want a great affordable meal in a relaxed rustic Pub atmosphere, this is the place to go. My Wife and I have been going here for just about every Thursday (date night) for the past 6 months. The food is outstanding and is actually made by a true Chef! even the other staff call their Chef "Chef" out of respect for their culinary skills. After 5 years of "Date night" going to a different place around Newcastle and the Hunter eating at the top reputable restaurants. We went to this little pub once due to a friends suggestion and we have not wanted to go anywhere else since. They have set the bar so high that even a $100 steak elsewhere just does not cut it. They change their Specials (the more upmarket meals) weekly so there is always something new to try. Do yourself a favour, if you are a "foody" like my wife and I, Give this place a go. You wont regret it.

K. B.Hi all, had a fantastic meal tonight at The Holmesville Hotel. We ate our meal in the beer garden which is in the process of being refurbished. The tables and chairs all hand made timber,looked great and were comfortable to sit on. Atmosphere 10 out of 10. Food, well the food was delicious. (Im not big on steak, as it usually arrives tough and hard to chew). We ordered the Rump steak, mine well done, i need to say this... its the first time ive ever had tender, melt in your mouth steak. Thoroughly enjoyed every part of my meal. Desert was homemade and delicious. We met the chef Ben, and he was a pleasure to talk to, very attentive to our individual orders. And he has selected very pleasant staff members.
So on that note; go and have a meal, Tuesday night is specials night, excellent prices and they also have a Rock 'A' Billy dance group on Tuesday night. Fun to watch or have a go. Enjoy the great food, good atmosphere. Congradulations to the New Owner, you are doing a wonderful job, in reviving an Old Beauty. Thank you.

J. S.Good place. Nice rooms. Very cheap rate. Bathroom is little bit old style but tidy. There is a restaurant and bar in the ground floor. Overall a good one.

H. h.At the foot of Mt Sugarloaf, warm room in winter, electric blanket, fire downstairs, wifi and tv in room, nice veranda. Large beer garden downstairs, 3 different indoor areas plus pokie area. Plenty of spaces for a single, couple or group to enjoy a quiet meal, drink or game of pool. We have stayed at around 10 hotel motels around Newcastle now, this is great value. Comfortable pub.
