Great place that is always consistent in terms of food quality, food taste and the customer service. Lots of food options and all of them are delicious, you could definitely spend the whole night just having the starter and side dishes, they are that good! Beer and cocktails are great, though the wine list could be improved. Overall highly recommend to check out!

Friends booked a surprise birthday dinner and we had a great night out with laughs and good food. We ordered the tasting menu so lots of variety and goodies to try. It’s $60pp and worth it. It included dumplings, mains and dessert. The shiitake dumplings were phenomenal, best I’ve ever had and the black bean beef with cauliflower was also a winner. Definitely be back again just to order those two. Duck pancakes and fried rice also deserve a mention, really good. It’s a good looking restaurant, nice and cosy, and staff is friendly and efficient - great night out. Street parking available along Hickson Road 👍 all covid rules followed

Great little place. The decor is simple and easy on the eye. The team was friendly and attentive. The dumplings were delicious and tasty. The cocktail we had was one of the worst. My advice is stick to the wine list as a safe option😜I would recommend this place to my friends for a good lunch destination.

The original ‘Lotus’ restaurant did not disappoint. An early dinner with a great selection of varied dumplings - our favoured was the crab and lobster, the special of the evening. Lovely decor and friendly service, a great little find in Walsh Bay.

This is one of my favourite parts of any trip to the theatre. Those spicy wantons, the crispy chicken, the prawn dumplings, the beans with pork. I’m salivating just thinking about them. Definitely work booking early and having the Lotus experience.

So good! Dumplings, sui Mai, wontons...all of it. The calamari is amazing. Very light fry. Gluten free. And that sauce along with it is delicious. The duck pancakes (rolled tacos?) were...interesting. Probably wouldn’t recommend those unless they add more flavor to their homemade taco/pancake dough. It was just rather bland and basic. Great service otherwise! Very friendly and speedy!

Before heading out for the Bridge Climb in Sydney, we decided to lunch at Lotus on Walsh Bay to enjoy some dumplings and Chinese food. I had tried Lotus in Galeries, so was pretty keen to see the difference in the food quality here. Lotus is very well known for their duck pancakes, kung pao chicken and dumplings selection. This day however, we went for a totally vegetarian menu selection, so none of those meat classics in this review today. Food: 8/10 I really loved the dumplings and eggplant, but wasn’t too impressed by the noodles. Menu: 7/10 It’s a concise menu that caters more to meat eaters for sure. For vegetarians you realistically only have 2 dumpling options and the eggplant without having to change up the noodle dishes. Service: 9/10 I loved the service and thought the staff was very friendly. Our food was brought out to us quickly too. Ambiance: 9/10 Again, I love the set up of the restaurant blending Australian motifs into the space. It’s a really neat and clean dining room and of course how I can ignore the exposed brick wall!. Value for Money: 7/10 The plates are not too big, but you do get a nice amount of food. Overall: 8/10

Dumplings made in heaven. Best dumplings I have ever had and I’ve been around. So happy with this find. Everything served was amazing and great service. The food was fine dining level but had a casual dining setting. Price wise it was little bit more than your everyday asian cuisine, but absolutely worth it. Cheaper than fine dining. Celebrated my birthday here last weekend, I pre booked the theatre menu online when I placed my booking (which it didn’t let you book unless you pre picked your choice between the banquets or a la carte menu). When we got there the service was very quick, I was told the theatre menu finished at 7pm (our booking was 7:15 and we arrived early) I advised them that’s what I booked online and they were able to serve it to us with no fuss. Food was really delicious, I wasn’t personally a fan of the wok fried prawns with chilli and basil; unsure if it was personal preference but there was no chilli or basil and the sauce was just overcome with whole peppercorns. I did eat here with two males and after all the food neither of them were full (and neither was I). So if you’re ordering a banquet and you’re a big eater you might want to order another dish or two.

Absolutely delightful meal at Lotus! Beautiful dining room, excellent cocktails, and a huge variety of dumplings and potstickers and other traditional dishes to choose from. Our server, Cody, was so attentive and sweet as can be, he recommended a delicious combination of chili and soy sauce to create a DELICIOUS dumpling sauce. The mixed mushroom dumplings went perfectly with the mix! We didn’t feel rushed out the door as we often do, as we like to chat after we finish our food. Cody was all smiles and made us feel very welcome. He even suggested a local spot to go for sunset drinks and a beautiful view! Where else can you go where your server tells you the best local secrets?! Big thank you to Cody and everyone at Lotus Dumpling Bar for excellent service and incredibly good food. Will be back before our trip is through!

Fantastic food and excellent service! We were told from the outset that our dining time would be limited to 2 hours if we chose to sit inside. We chose outside seating despite the weather and were not sorry for our choice. A heater and blankets are provided and the dining experience was lovely. The food was exceptional and the staff very friendly and efficient. We’ll definitely visit again.

Amazing little eatery under harbour bridge. The jade prawn dumplings and the Dragon passion cocktail were unbelievably delicious. The service great and the waiters were very attentive and friendly. The only downside was it was very crowded and hot inside and the tables are really close together. Would definitely eat there again though.

Highly recommend walking to this restaurant as there are so many lovely sights along the way and it's a lovely neighbourhood. Catering for the theatre crowd Lotus do a reasonably quick dumpling service which includes takeaway. Not the best dumplings in Sydney by far, but there's nothing at all wrong with them. Takeaway is efficient and they're happy to package everything up complete with sauces and chopsticks to take across the road and sit on the pier. Friendly staff and if you're dining in, lots of other asian options. It's not a huge restaurant, but there are some larger tables at the back. Probably best to book if there are more than 3 or 4 of you.

Finally some new life has been breathed into Walsh Bay. The dumplings are good but surprisingly the stand out dish was the fried rice. From the same guys behind Firefly, the fit out is impressive, the wine list very decent and best of all it really has a buzz that the area has been lacking of late. The dumplings here are quite crave-worthy. The 'spicy & sour pork & prawn wontons' are my fave. Would have given them 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that they're rather overpriced for the small portions (compared to similarly upscale Asian venues in the CBD). That being said, there aren't very many good Chinese eateries in the vicinity so if you're in Walsh Bay & craving dumplings or fried rice, this is the place to go.

Beginning with a warm greeting and ending with a gracious and humble hostess this is a place that is not to be missed. I’d recommend the Arvo at Kens to start. A terrific bourbon drink with Dry Curaco, Shanghai iced tea and lemon balance to perfection. The crispy duck pancakes as an appetizer and the kun pao chicken accompanied by the duck fried rice will leave you wanting more. A must visit casual eatery in Sydney will not disappoint!
