This is a treasure that is worth looking for. Just out of Wagga Wagga near the university is this special dining experience. There is a limited menu with four choices of main and four for dessert. However, along with the homely baked bread and olive oil with dukķa for appetiser and delicious entree selection, every main dish is special and fabulous. Noone in our party was disappointed.
The staff are attentive and friendly. The wines and cocktails are worth splurging on - especially as this extraordinary meal is just $60 per head.
It is perfect for that special occasion, or just to spoil yourself and the one/those you love.

We had our Wedding Day here and could not fault a thing. Brilliant. Hayley and her team take all the stress out of the day and arrange it all. Food and setting was outstanding. Very highly recommend this place for your special occasion.

(4.5 stars)
Late afternoon light paints the stone walls of this former 1860s stable a glowing orange. It streams into the glass-fronted dining room, where (very) well-spaced tables give you the airspace to completely focus on your own conversation. A bubbly floor team explain how the ($60/head) all inclusive menu works, while we neck jalapeño margaritas ($19/each). As Wagga Wagga’s premier wedding venue, the kitchen have evolved a formula that allows them to serve a lot of people fast.
Entrees are set - extraordinary salad greens and tomatoes from the garden, a generous portion of bread oil and dukkah, then a plate of hot canapés. Each item—smoked trout croquettes made with four types of cheese garnished with pickled ginger; kangaroo kofte and puff pastry tarts with darkly caramelised onion jam—punches flavour. Mains you get to select yourself. The Riverina lamb rack is evenly cooked with a juicy pink interior, and a surprisingly good sweet potato. Crisp cabbage roesti is the star of the chicken supreme, accompanied by sticky chickpeas and spinach gomae—a Japanese-inspired sesame treatment. A bowl of garden-fresh cooked vegetables is equally as compelling as the mains.
Dessert isn’t my favourite course, but I liked the burnt butter peach that came with the panna cotta. I found the orange blossom flavouring, mulled wine syrup, edible flowers and gingerbread crumble to be overkill. For a $6/cheese add-on we tried three local cheeses on a well-presented cheese board, prompting a drive to Coolamon cheese the next day. Local produce and careful cooking makes Magpies Nest Restaurant a winner whether you’re here for a wedding or for a romantic dinner for two and a twilight stroll through the grounds to take in the sunset.

The staff were super friendly and insightful with menu choices. The food look amazing and tasted even better. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food, service and setting. Must book early to get a spot, I don't see any competitor in Wagga at this level so can understand why!

A very cosy and elegant dining experience. Highly recommended if you're in town, especially if you're visiting Charles Sturt University.

Came here for dinner and it was amazing! Our waitress Bridie was amazing and made us feel at home.

The set menu, although listing 4 mains and 4 desserts, offered a good range, even vegan. Our small group covered most of the options and everyone was very satisfied from the entrees to dessert. We booked the small room which was quiet and where we could discuss our book reading for the month. The staff were attentive and friendly, and allowed us plenty of time to enjoy each course. No difficulty with paying separately. Great value for money considering the quality and presentation of each dish.
Only down side is the very poor lighting of Pine Gully Road approaching the entrance. Wagga Wagga City Council needs to upgrade the street lighting given the huge growth in local traffic.

Wonderful atmosphere, great food and friendly staff

Beautiful scenery. Great food and service (definitely worthy of a Chef's Hat) I cannot fault this place. My husband is a chef (fine dining background) and this is our favourite place to go on date night.

Outstanding dining experience.
Beautiful meals and very accommodating to allergies/food intolerances.
Highly recommended.

We shared a beautiful dinner with friends at the Magpies’s Nest in January. Food was amazing and plentiful and the service and attention to detail was second to none. Many thanks to Hayley and wonderful staff who made us so at home.

Easily the best restaurant in Wagga. An airy pleasant dining room overlooks the vines is a lovely place to sort and enjoy a meal. The menu is 2 courses; mains and desserts with 4 choices each but you are bought little extras like bread and olive oil, and a platter of entrees. I can't think of a better place to enjoy a romantic dinner or family get together and it's surprisingly good value for money. The food is un pretentious and confident with bold flavours and the service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Attended a winter midday wedding at the Nest and was most impressed by the atmosphere created. Great gathering courtyard out in the winter sun. Dinning area was well laid out; intimate and with great views. The staff were charming, efficient and helpful. The food was the best I've ever had at a wedding banquet and included a most amazing and colourful dessert presentation. I highly recommend this venue.

My family enjoyed a lovely meal together at a table by the window. Great food, attentive staff and an amazing atmosphere.

Had Hubby's work Christmas dinner here lastnight.
Lovely venue, beautiful view. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I had the chicken which was extremely salty. For someone who loves salt, this was not a good thing. Dessert (pav) was ok, I expected a deconstructed pavlova, not meringue.
Hubby loved his lamb and peach dessert, ok.

Very nice dinner, great service

What a pleasant surprise! Just out of town, this restaurant is spacious, full of character and the food is simply wonderful. The outdoor seating area is wonderfully decorated. I can only imagine how nice it would be to sit there and have lunch on a nice spring afternoon!

We recently had the pleasure of attending a wedding here. Everyone I've spoken to loved this venue as much as we did. Thanks to Hayley and the team, the day went smoothly and all to plan. Beautiful setting, excellent food, great attention to detail & friendly efficient service. I highly recommend Magpies Nest for a stress free, quality wedding venue.

We came here for a wedding. It’s a beautiful setting amongst the olive trees. The sunset provided a great backdrop for a wedding. The food was amazing and the staff were very lovely.

Great food - interesting and origional presentation - beautiful combination of tastes and flavours. The menu provides a choice for food lovers. If you want a superb dining experience I would recommend highly. The view and setting is exceptional - well worth a visit!

We recently had our wedding reception out at this beautiful venue and we could not be more pleased we chose it.
From the pre-wedding arrangements to the day itself, Hayley and her team were nothing short of exceptional.
Hayley who leads the team is fantastic to deal with, with her professional but pleasant and easy going manner (totally our cup of tea!). She was very informative throughout the whole process leading up to the wedding and completely takes the stress out of most of the organisation as she takes it upon herself to liaise with your chosen vendors (Ie. Florist, Cake, Band etc.)
We also live in Melbourne and this could have added extra stress of planning a wedding from afar and yet it was the complete opposite thanks to Hayley.
The day itself also could not have been more perfect. All of our guests (half from out of town) were super impressed with the venue itself, set up of the room to the outdoor area, through to the delicious food (we had the lamb shank for mains - cannot recommend more highly), service (this was a sensational, the guests were super pleased they hardly had to go to the bar for a drink and dinner was served so promptly) not to mention the band (The Night Shift) that Hayley had recommended to us was a complete hit. People are still raving about them!
To any bride and groom out there that is looking to minimise the stresses of their wedding day, do yourselves a favour and book with these guys!

Excellent choice of venue for a wedding and reception just out of and overlooking Wagga Wagga. Friendly helpful staff, superb pre-dinner snacks, drinks and meals. Beautiful gardens and tastefully converted 1860's stone and brick stables and barn to a licensed wedding reception and dining function room.

Absolutely one of Wagga's best restaurants. Food is fresh from local producers. They have a set price during the weekdays.
Plenty of parking and wheelchair access available.
Well worth a visit. The food is amazing.
L. D.
Great location, food and company.
Short drive from Wagga's CBD. Greeted with great customer service, was offered a drink on arrival, as I waited in an eclectic styled garden with, as the name suggests, 2 magpies spotted.
Beautifully presented and even better tasting appetisers and 2 course dinner for works Christmas Party. White Rabbit Dark Ale available, which is a fine drop.

Wonderful location for our daughter's wedding. The Wedding co-ordinator and staff were warm, helpful and the service was great. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you, we all had a wonderful evening

I remember a staff member of the Magpies Nest coming into my work and we got to discussing the plans for an upcoming wedding out there. The thought that was going into the dessert alone impressed me enough to check it out as a possible venue for my own wedding. Now, after talking with Hayley and having a date night out there with my fiance, we're convinced. We don't want to be married anywhere else!

As you approach the entrance of Magpies Nest it becomes apparent you are about to experience quality food and service unparalleled by any other venue/restaurant in Wagga Wagga. The food is unquestionably delicious, inventive and generous. The staff are friendly and make you feel as though you are amongst friends. The venue itself is striking with excellent views and provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. Overall, this is undoubtedly the best restaurant in Wagga Wagga.
