Comments of New Shanghai
J. L.
Went with a large group of friends and ordered a bunch of dishes and none disappointed! Highly recommend the slow braised pork belly, wheat gluten with black mushroom, shanghai noodles with spring onion, shepherd's purse rice cake stir fry and any of the dimsum.
F. W.
We came here on the day before Chinese New Year. The price is pricey but the food taste delicious, i think it is worthy. My favourite one is the soft pork belly and squid with salted egg. Although the place wasn’t busy, unfortunately it is a little bit difficult to find the waitress if we need something, since they weren’t always around.
e. S.
I like it here. Usually easy to secure a table. Surprisingly sophisticated wine list. Dishes can be a bit sweet because it's Shanghai style.
J. W.
The food here is a little pricey but it is so worth it! Everything comes out tasting perfect and is worth every dollar. The service is also great and super efficient too. They have quite a lot of seats so can accomodate for larger groups (we stopped by for a work dinner). Can’t wait to dine here again!
H. T.
Great place for Chinese food! Love the new system to order through the app, and the food was, overall, very good.
The xia long bao and pan fried dumplings were really good, but we especially liked the vegetarian spring rolls!
The claypot of braised eggplant was amazing!! So tasty! And the hot & sour soup wasn’t too bad either.
The noodles soup, however, was a bit of a disappointment. The broth was very bland and, despite the tasty condiments, the overall dish was too bland in my opinion.
I. K.
We ordered an 8 course banquet for 4 adults. If we had not stopped them they would have served all at once. The table we were given was too small without a lazy Susan. We had plates stacked up around us it was ridicules. They also did the classic trick to sell more wine overfilling our glasses until told to stop. At a time when we are being encouraged to visit the city that experience was not helpful.
L. S.
Would consider 3.5 stars however google doesn’t allow it.
Quite nice decor and comfortable seating.
Two of the dishes we wanted were not available which was slightly disappointing. Went with prawn and Xo Sauce with fried noodles with pork and string beans.
Noodles were a little bland. Prawns were delicious however slightly over priced. String beans were a hit and chrysanthemum tea was delightful.
Customer service was low - we asked for fresh chilli for the bland noodles which they flat out declined.

I heard so many people compliment New Shanghai's Xiao long bao dumplings and OMG it as so good you want to order one trade all for yourself lol and our favourite menus was rainbow beef. Beef was so tender and sweet and sour flavour was so yummy that it was almost so addictive. This was my first time visit and definitely will come back to try more from the menu. Staff service was very quick and friendly.
H. M.
This place is wonderful the food is a 10/10 and it’s service is even better, you order through your phone which I find convenient. I think the place deserves more than just a 3.9 star rating
F. P.
Lovely food, lovely service! Got the braised beef noodles and xiao long bao pork dumplings. The soup was flavoursome for the noodles and the portion was generous. The xiao long bao's were juicy and decadent.
V. C.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff & decent food~ Traditional shanghai cuisine served with alcohol. Must try the entrees, such as drunken chicken, smoked fish, and their incredible crispy shanghai pan-fried dumplings. Meat cuisine are excellent too. Wonderful place for meat lovers!
S. W.
Atmosphere is nice. The restaurant is located at Westfield, which is a good choice for working people nearby with authentic Chinese dish.
Don’t miss put pork and prawn buns, really tastey! It’s their most popular dish.
Pork belly with soy sauce goes really well with rice, very Shanghai dish.
Good quality with reasonable price, definitely will go and eat again.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times. The first visit was for a weekday lunch and the second time around was for dinner.
The decor and ambience were definitely eye-catching and made you feel that you’re in Shanghai.
In the middle of the restaurant there’s this clear glass display area where you can see the chefs working ‘behind the scenes’. It was awesome to see how they make the dumplings and other dishes from the start.
My favourite dishes from my lunch visit:
Rainbow Beef and Crispy Tofu with Salted Egg Yolk.
My favourite dishes from the recent dinner visit:
Claypot braised eggplant with minced pork,
Peking beef stir-fry served with steamed buns,
Shepherd’s purse & pork wontons with chilli oil and Four colour xiao long bao aka good fortune dumplings.
Overall I really enjoyed my dining experiences here.
L. L.
I like the food, hot and sour soup noodles and fried rice and dumplings are highly recommended.
The staff are friendly, they enjoy their work and always wear a smile.
G. N.
Tried this place out for light lunch. Had the Xiao Long Bao (steamed pork dumplings) and Peking pork served with steamed buns. Dumplings were soft and fresh but I did find them a bit too salty. Thoroughly enjoyed the Peking pork and the buns. Service was a bit disappointing. Friend and I came in after lunch hour and had to flag someone to take our order. It's got potential....maybe a second visit is needed.
J. T.
Food is very average here and higher priced for what you get. Not up to same standard as Din Tai Fung. However, environment was nice and staff friendly. Tables were nicely spaced out and plenty of room to move around especially with kids.
E. S.
The food is a little pricey but absolutely delicious! Their dumplings and signature dishes are incredible. The small hiccup is their ordering system is a little broken.
Highly recommend the place.
A. L.
Loved my experience at the New Shanghai!
The fit out is super cute, and it feels like you're somewhere else and not inside a Westfield.
The cocktails and Dim Sum were definitely the highlights of the might, and I can't forget that clay pot of chilli eggplant which was amazing!
The rainbow Xiao long bao were so pretty and I loved the Pork & prawn buns. Also loved how cute the Easter steamed bunny buns were, they were so cute 🐰🐇🍹
Overall, I have previously visited the Ashfield chain many times before and this one was closely matched in taste and expectations. If anything I think I liked this venue more as it's ambience and setting is very cute. I also liked the bar addition to it.

Dumplings and pork buns, there is something about these tasty little parcels that draw us in. This is our favourite part of Shanghainese cuisine.
New Shanghai have a few restaurants around Sydney and are known for producing delicious dumplings, wontons and buns. We visited the New Shanghai Restaurant in Westfield Pitt Street mall to get our fix. New Shanghai is set up to make you feel as though you are dining in the streets if Shanghai. The decor is architecturally a modern adaptation of a street market, but indoors. It is vibrant and fun, and you can get a glimpse of the staff making the dumplings.
New Shanghai is also a licensed venue a great spot for a bite to eat and a drink after work, with a good wine list and some interesting cocktails.
Dumplings on our mind, with the shumai first picked. In this instance, they are a brilliant multi-coloured soupy pork dumpling. Trying our best to maintain dumpling etiquette; place the dumpling on the spoon, pierce the dumpling add vinegar, soy sauce and chilli to taste.
The pan fried pork and prawn buns were phenomenal, all four disappeared in quick succession, with a tasty filling, the buns literally bursting with flavour when bitten into. The spicy prawn wontons were another favourite and were huge, a massive serving of yum and a must order.
It's not all dumplings and buns, Shanghinese cusine has a variety of dishes and cooking styles. Grab a fried rice and sizzling mongolian lamb for some classics.
For a unique dish the clay pots are a good option. The clay pot with tofu and prawns with salty egg was on our order list and we were advised they may not be to everyone's liking, however we enjoyed this dish and would recommend it to broaden your culinary experience with this traditional dish.
The location is good, right in the heart of the city. It has plenty of room for small or large groups too. Staff were lovely, in particular the on duty manager Zin, who had amazing hospitality.
N. C.
very decent shanghai cuisine. The xiaolongbao with shrimp was a must try. The brasied pork belly was not greasy at all. and my favorite dish is beef strip which was sweet-sour flavor.
M. L.
Remember to sign up for New Shanghai to get 1 complimentary Dumpling and 1 cocktail/mock tail... Been there few times food are nice and yum! Staff are nice and friendly.. But they only take bookings for group of 8..
L. A.
Great food, but table ordering through their QR function didn't work, so we had to resort to old fashioned ordering.
S. H.
Came here for lunch. There is definitely a long wait especially when its a bigger group. (Seems to be a lot quicker for tables of 2). The food is delicious! Definitely recommend the Xiao long baos!
I. D.
A favourite haunt. We came here for brunch and dumplings! Their pan fried pork buns are amazing crunchy and soft and delicious ... be careful super hot as they are fresh!
z.
I enjoyed my dinner here tonight
Food was quick and delicious. Service was good.
Reasonably priced too.
T. M.
An early dinner at New Shanghai, to beat the usual rush.
Branched out from the usual dumplings and tried the truffle rice and Kung Pao Chicken. Some other usuals of Salt and Pepper Calamari and vegetable dumplings also made the list.
The KPC was not as spicy as most places which was good for my partner who doesn't like spice.
m. c.
Good location in Westfield. I have the dinner with friends and the food is quite good. Strongly recommend Hongshaorou and colorful Steamed buns.
B. W.
Good trustworthy shanghai cuisine restaurant. Consistent delivery of food. Service was great, I've asked for pepper which they don't usually have, and stuff when to crush some just for me.
C. V. L.
I love the ordering system. Everyone can order their own and communication with each other freely during ordering phase.
The food is great. ♡♡♡
O. G.
Below average. You can get better dumplings across the street in any shop I must say. Tried the new special truffles menu, which weren't too bad.
J. B.
Great Chinese restaurant in the heart of the Sydney CBD - service can be slow on very busy nights but the food is worth the wait. All of their dumplings (highly recommend their crab xiao long bao), pork belly, and crispy skin chicken are all fantastic dishes I go back for time and time again.
A. B.
Food was nice, the ordering system was clunky and difficult to use, menu items different from the paper menu.
J. M.
Best Xiao long bao we've ever tasted and really great value for money. We can't wait to go back again someday soon!
J. H.
Their prawn wonton soup is my favorite. A must order every time when I dine there.
S. M.
Great service, great food, fantastic prices. The new COVID safe ordering system works seamlessly. Amazing job guys!
辛.
It's ok not so good. If u wanna have a beautiful restaurant you should try,but u wanna eat delicious food then not.
P. S.
Same great food as Ashfield but with much nicer premises. Only downside is the ordering through QR code is a bit clunky.
C. C.
Standard Shanghai food, the tastes are okay. Staffs are quite interesting, we've to repeat ourselves for a few times in order to request anything.
G.
This place is still delivering fantastic food after many years. Just sad to see how quiet it has become since Covid hit.
K. B.
fast service, great food, lovely atmosphere, you don't feel like you're inside a Westfield
A. S.
Wow. We've eaten at the Chatswood store a number of times though this was our first time here. Wonderful, delicious food, fast service and flavour, flavour, flavour. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. There are a couple of standards but plenty for the adventurous eater too. Most enjoyable and we'll be back for sure. I loved it!
J. T.
Wonderful dumplings soo beautiful me and my best friend crazy about dumplings so tmtried this place was blown away by the dumpling and food pork buns to die for totally recommend this place.
The only area i would love to see improved is a bigger better variety of sweet and fruity cocktails.
But still definitely coming back recommend 9/10 love it
M. C.
Good food. Unusual for place to run out of beer at lunch time when we arrived. Be ready to be high tech, and order from the menu online on your smart phone, while you are seated. The salted duck yolk calamari is rich, and my personal recommendation
A. L.
Serving was slow and their pudding was sour, cheesy and savoury, not a good desert to recommend to anyone. Not a good way to finish.
D. S.
Great range of food and brilliant service but it closed early on Monday night
T. V. (.
Pretty good Chinese food here.
I. N.
Pretty good. I love their Singaporean Stir Fried Noodle.
D. L.
New Shanghai is my favourite restaurant in Sydney. Shepard's purse with peanut butter and chilli oil sounds gross but is so so SO good, a must have. A little pricey but totally worth it.
A. T.
Great service and delicious food. They have good space for big groups, and the atmosphere is very cozy.
Y. A.
Pot stickers were average skin far too thick.poached dumplings not shaped well for a restaurant this calibre and overcooked . Crab meat xiao long bao dry and not enough broth inside.like it's been cooked held and reheated .
Limited choice of beers , stir fried noodles very average . We were quite surprised because the Chatswood one we went to was very good .Not sure what happened . Fried rice was good but won't be returning in a hurry to eat that only
K. L.
I think this might be more of a lunch spot rather than a dinner spot as a lot of dishes were already sold out at 7pm. Other than that, good service, yummy food and an awesome atmosphere!
小.
Good price. The dumplings were delicious.
M. C.
The food here is delicious however expect a long wait. I've been quite a few times and for the most part it's always good. But I once ordered a plate of pan fried pork buns which took 20 minutes and when they came out were still partially raw in the middle. The worst part was that they wouldn't admit they were still raw. I had bitten into it and you could tell by the texture it wasn't cooked enough! I had to speak to 3 different staff just to get it sent back and re-made.
L. C. J.
Good dumplings and some good Chinese food..
N. Y.
Whenever I visit Sydney, this is a restaurant I always have to go to because I absolutely love their food. Their food is authentic and very tasty. I absolutely love their fried buns and you can physically see the staff making them. This place is a must go to if you love Chinese food. The service is also very quick and I also like the vibe of the place.
D. S.
Good menu and service but they closed early
J. T.
Delicious! Dumplings we’ll be back for more. Best Chinese food we’ve had for ever. Both our boys were also very pleased with the food which is hard ask. Sizzling chicken super tasty and pork& chive dumplings worth going back for more. Thanks
P. T.
Reasonably priced restaurant with tasty dishes. I've been here twice, and it did not disappoint. Their salted egg yolk with king prawns were delectable. Pan fried pork buns were just as good too. Other dishes were just as good. The quality and standard is as high as their store in Ashfield. Great place!
S. P.
Food was good. Restaurant nice. We had a table for 11 and ordered way to much food which was good for them but unfortunately the customer service wasn't as good. After one hour we were asked if we could finish up as they needed our table. After looking around we noticed a lot of empty tables . With the amount of money that was spent there you would think they would be a little bit nicer. Ok for prams and wheelchairs. Parking is very expensive unless you go on the weekend and park in the Wilson parking kent street. St James station is just down the road.
m. c.
Nice place to catch up with friends! I have to say though that both the sweet and sour chicken and the eggplant dish with pork mince are too salty!! I had to have 2 iced teas plus plenty of water to get over it and it took until mid morning the next day until I felt better. Did not realize it at first but comparing this place to other Chinese restaurants I found this place serving salt in higher contents. So if you are struggling with high blood pressure, maybe avoid this place or see if there are alternatives..
Other than that, the service was good and polite. Note that some waitresses need to brush up on their English!
M. C.
We made a booking for 8pm and was told to order quickly as the kitchen closed shortly after which got things off to the wrong start. Service was prompt and food was good, particularly the eggplant with pork, although they bring everything out as it's ready which means you may be eating your main before the smaller starter.
J. W.
Great authentic food and lively atmosphere. Decent location for having lunch with friends and sharing some dishes.
Restaurant is found away from the other ones (it's in the basement) which is a benefit as it isn't too hard to get a seat, even for a large group.
C. J.
Good soup dumplings and fried rice. A good spot for having lunch with a colleague. Fast service and big internal space, means they can seat a lot of people. Was a bit bummed when they said they don't take bookings for less than 8 people but walked in and didn't wait long.
S. K.
The food was delicious and we were served right away. The service was quick and the serving sizes large as we struggled to fit 2 entrees and 1 main on the table for 2. We arrived around 6:30 and upon leaving there was a line out the front of people waiting to get in and this was on a Wednesday night so I would suggest getting in early
N. K.
I've been coming to New Shanghai for years. The food is consistently excellent (some dishes are better than others), though the service tends to vary between average and disappointing. There is no clear organisation amongst the waitstaff so orders get confused, dishes get forgotten or taken to the wrong tables, and questions need to be asked multiple times. It's not uncommon to order 7 dishes for the table, have 5 dishes come out one after the other, then have to remind the waiters that you're still waiting on another two.
Unfortunately, after booking a friends birthday dinner for last night, I was incredibly disappointed by the service. We ordered a number of items, including two plates of pan-fried pork buns (a MUST-have dish), and a few different drinks. After the waitress took our order, she came back to report that three of the drinks we ordered were unavailable, and asked people to change their orders. We then received most of the dishes we ordered, and waited for the rest to arrive. By the time we'd eaten everything on the table, we ordered some more food, and I had to remind the waiters twice that we had ordered two plates of pork buns, not one. It wasn't until the second reminder that a waiter came back and said, "We decided you'd ordered so much food, you probably don't need a second plate of porn buns."
One of the guests asked why her drink still hadn't arrived, and the waiter said, "We're missing one of the ingredients and can't make that drink for you." We have no idea why they didn't tell us this from the beginning. They also included that drink on the bill, and we had to ask them to take it off.
Everyone at the table acknowledged that the food was excellent, but the poor service left a bad taste in our mouth. It's a shame that it overshadowed everything else.
J. L.
Went to try out the new truffles menu.
Taste wise it's pretty good especially the XLB truffle.
Pan friend dumpling with Truffle is average, prob wouldn't recommend it.
Overall good location and easy to get to
L. S.
Mine and my colleagues go to for lunch because the food comes out quick and fresh. The queue can be long though so best to have an earlier lunch or a later lunch. Xiao long bao is a must! The pastry is so thin that it'll melt in your mouth. No split bills though!
S.
I've visited Ashfield New Shanghai many many times over the years but only my second time dining at the City location. I think that the quality of the City location is much worse than the Ashfield.
Why?
Firstly, staff were rude and rushed here. Sure, I dined in at 830pm but that's still over an hour until closing time.
I ordered pan fried pork buns and the buns were obviously inconsistent in size, which is unacceptable. So i was pretty disappointed by that. Ordered noodles as well which lacked flavor, both the jjajangmeon noodles and the cold noodles werent good quality.
Overall presentation of food was sloppy. Overall wouldn't come back to this location
K. A.
Xiao long bao are ok, something about them that is not as good as other renditions. The pot stickers and the pan fried pork buns are pretty great.
M. G.
Very nice food! A little overpriced. Have been to a few Shanghai restaurants, the dishes here are all a little different - refined and very tasty. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and you can watch them make stuff which is kinda cool.
P. B.
Lots of fresh and tasty options. Great dumplings.
H. Z.
Always coming here for group gatherings, delicious food with reasonable pricing.
T. C. T.
I normally go to the Ashfield restaurant but came here as i wanted to book for a bigger group (8 people) and the other New Shanghai restaurants don't take bookings. It was super easy booking here and hence there were no queues to worry about. The dumplings were amazing and the food just as delicious as what I've grown up eating from the Ashfield restaurant. The one let down was a calamari and salted egg yolk dish we had which was very floury and would've benefited from being cooked a little longer/ prepared with less batter. Otherwise perfect
T. T.
Ordered their dumplings and a drunken chicken cold noodles for lunch. Delicious, food came out quick and decent servings. Spent a tad over $20 for two people. Pretty good value. Get there early to beat the queue.
J. K.
OMGGGGGGGGOOODDDNESSSS!!!! If you love meat get the slow cooked brisket in the clay pot. It was ahhhmazzz. The food was fresh and tasted so good. Highly recommended! Even came at a busy time but service was good and food was quick.
S. G.
Entertaining to watch the cooks make dumplings in front of you. Very nice and welcoming to families with little kids. Reasonably crowded at lunch during the weekends, we love their southeastern food so we are happy to return.
T. Y.
Great place for a quick dumpling fix! The portion sizes are generous and the dumplings are deliciously juicy. Personally, I would recommend the pan fried buns! The handmade noodles are also worth a try.
G. L.
This place is legit. Just enough options to cover the popular dishes. Simply delicious.
C. L.
We ordered the Peking beef with steamed buns, was delicious, extra buns was only $3:50 for 4! With less than 50$, we fed 3 to the brim. The pork ribs was really nice too. We will come again.
P. M.
Like always, delicious Xiao Long Bao! This time we also ordered a pan fried dumpling which was very tasty. It's a bit heavier than the Xiao long Bao. As always, service was good and the food arrived very quickly!
S. F.
Probably the best dumplings in Sydney. Super popular so make sure you arrive at 12 noon for lunch or by 6pm for dinner, else the queues can get manic. The xia long baos are the best. Also order the prawn dumplings in chilly oil to go with the X O fried rice. Pot stickers are popular and so is the pork belly and rainbow beef. Service is below par but excusable given how busy the place can get.
J. T.
One of my favourite dumpling and tea places in Town, I love their authentic longjin years with xiaolongbao!
V. S.
Delicious assortment of dumpling dishes on the menu.
BYO.
Would definitely recommend this place to anyone that enjoys dumplings - they have other dishes e.g. fried rice, noodles etc. but if you eat here, you can't go past the dumplings.
R. B.
Delicious dumplings! And the waygu beef sizzling platter was fantastic! Good quality food for reasonable prices, not what you typically expect for a restaurant in a mall.
M. T.
Food is always amazing. Sadly the staff here are rude. In particularly the front of house. If you like great food and don't mind average service, it's definitely worth giving it a go.
E. G.
Nice food and ambience
B. H.
I have a soft spot for New Shanghai for some odd reason.
It's just restaurant that is reasonably priced, has pretty good quality food, and is a clean, bright environment.
Best dish at New Shanghai is the Prawn and Chicken Wontons in Chilli Oil and Peanut Sauce, and you probably shouldn't go past the other steamed dumpling dishes either.
A.
The best dumplings I have ever had very very good service, food come in about 5 minuets even when it was nearly a full restaurant. would definitely recommend to anyone!!
J. T.
One of my favourite Chinese restaurant in Sydney, always authentic, delicious even compare to food quality in Asia! Love their wonton and reddish pastry.
X. Z.
Very good food. Tried Xiao Long Bao, Wonton and noodle. All very good and not too salty. Looked like Rainbow Beef was a popular dish, and was not disappointed. Interesting decoration. A little noisy.
I. J.
The wait can sometimes be quite long, especially if you have a group of 4 or more. Food is quite tasty, not a big range for vegetarians. Service can be a bit hit and miss.
f.
Accommodate large groups if you book in advance. Reasonably priced. The mains are of variable quality but the dumplings are quite good.
V. T.
Love the dumplings. There's a reason why you need to wait during dinner time (where other shops are empty). Be prepared to wait, but, it's worth it!
A. Y.
Food is too salty. Service is good.
D. P.
Great vibe, atmosphere, wait line not that long and relatively good priced menu for the city. Gets very busy at lunch so get in early! Beats the hustle and bustle of Level 6/7 Westfield food court/floor
m. k.
food there is exceptional. the portions are very large. the wait can be significant however and its average priced. i'll always come back when time is not an issue.
D. L.
I love going here. If you like the one in Chatswood (lemon grove) you will be disappointed. It is nicely laid out and does not have the old RSL feel.
Very busy on Thursday to Saturday nights.
S. M. J.
Food was good. Few vegetarian options as well. Good part is staff can understand English, which is not common in Chinese restaurants. Service was good and quick.
A. D.
Come here quite often with friends, food is great, service could be better but can't expect more from asian restaurants. Price of food is fair however expensive for some dishes
L.
great Chinese food:) good location.
M.
Food was good, service was good. Atmosphere was nice. Not the best Chinese I've had in Sydney but the food was above average.
Y. V.
Delicious and very good price
P. C.
Regularly eat at different outlets of Shanghai. Great food and prompt polite service. Very good value. Tucked away on "basement" level of Sydney Westfield.
F. S.
The portions are big and good for sharing. Drinks are good. But nothing impressive, can get same food nearby in the Haymarket area.
J. S.
Ignoring wait and ambience, food is quite good
J. S.
Amazing snow pea shoot. I think that's what's it's called. A must try. Fried rice very good.
J. L.
Food was average & so was service.
F. M.
very busy at lunch time that you won't even get a seat to sit. Price is also high compared to the taste of the foods.
A. -. R.
Good atmosphere, delicious food, my girlfriend who is shanghainese said it was not absolutely authentic, but what can you expect.
T. J. T.
I liked the restaurant decoration, it's like the old Shanghai not New Shanghai, ha ha ha.
The food were quite good as well.
S. C.
Loved the dumplings and garlic greens. Fast service. Hidden in the basement, but worth looking for.
M. C.
Best dumplings ever and cool interior- one of our favourite as a family. Easy to get to by train
W. X.
Great restaurant inside Westfield.
G. P.
Great food, amazing dumplings! Fried rice and green beans where also stand outs.
k. c.
Good Chinese crusine. improved menu with new stuff compared with 3 years before. Must try if you want Shanghai style.
C. D.
I could happily live off the Pot Stickers/pan-fried pork dumplings from New Shanghai for the rest of my life. Delicious!
K.
Lovely atmosphere and decor, delicious tasty food and friendly staff. Great convenient location too.
M. S. (.
I went to the Pitt Street Mall store with my team of 11. The food was great, the staff were really attentive, and we really enjoyed ourselves.
S. B.
Delicious dumplings and other Chinese cuisine. Medium to high priced
A. G.
The ambience is great but the food and service is just so so. But it does fill up quite quickly in the evenings.
A.
I've never had issues with waiting times, the food or service. Menu has variety and is consistently good.
H. G.
I'm here once a month getting pan fried pork dumplings and Xiao long bao. Best in Sydney.
T. F.
Good quality food. A bit pricey but definately go again
C. M. G.
Only liked the first time I visited. The second and third time were disappointing.
M. K.
Super friendly staff and awesome food variety, would recommend!
C. L.
Great value and quite authentic for southeastern Chinese food , will definitely go back .
J. H.
Food and service was great, would go back again.
M. M.
One of the better dumpling places around, and also one of the more expensive ones (though certainly not unreasonable). Definitely worth a visit.
J. T.
Very good food, good place for Shanghainese food.
n. p.
This place was tres bien! Excellent food, fast service friendly staff yeet
H. L.
Great food, quiet location, not too busy
S. B.
Cheaper than the dumpling options upstairs, plenty of seating too, unlike the horrid foodcourt upstairs.

Finally back here again after 2yrs. Food is still great. Pot stickers still as juicy that it spurt, but skin is om the thicker side. Xlb is also tasty. Had XO fried rice was still ok i'll say its borderline. Dumplings was above average.

(Translated) His home is quiet and elegant on the first floor of Westfield.
I ordered a few dishes and all of them were praised.
[Four-baked bran] [Shanghai smoked fish] These two cold dishes are highly recommended. The taste is very refreshing, a bit sweet, especially suitable for pre-dinner appetizers.
[Four-color Xiaolongbao] [Shrimp pork fried] These two dishes are also creative and taste awesome! The different colors of the dumplings are made from different vegetable juices. There is no natural addition. Look at the special appetite. The raw fried bag is also thick and full of mouthfuls.
[Braised Pork] This is a special dish of Shanghai's main dish. It is packed in a red crock pot and bitten it into a fat and thin aroma. Haha~
[Dried beef silk] [Horse fried mushrooms] is also highly recommended!
I also said a few times when I stepped on the thunder.
[Shaoxing drunken chicken] This dish is too heavy to cover up the original chicken flavor.
[Salted egg yolk] This salted egg yolk is a bit moist. Later, I feel that there is a yolk wrapped in tofu. There is no special crispy tofu.
In short, I recommend everyone to try it!

(Translated) Ordering is very easy.
If you can't speak English,
It will mark ⚪︎ so that you can see what you ordered from this menu.
Cheap, fast and delicious!
The amount is large, so if you ask for ramen, it's okay for each person, so you should share with 2.3 people and eat a lot.
The dumplings come out first, and after that, the ones you ask for come at a very early timing from one to the next, so the Japanese ask for the next one as soon as they finish eating! But I thought it was okay.
I wanted to do it next time.
It was too early, so I couldn't eat it while it was hot.
The store clerk has a different level of customer service,
If there are people who can't speak much, or people who don't speak English or pass through, people like leaders will follow us, so they were able to serve customers comfortably!

(Translated) Today I tried the new Shanghai, which was hidden on the first floor of City Westfield. This Shanghai restaurant really lived up to expectations, satisfying my friends and friends for the delicious and high value! The classic appetizers of the four seasons of baked bran, drunk chicken and smoked fish all bring the taste buds of the people to the south of the bridge, and they linger on; the traditional famous dish braised pork is bright, the oil is red sauce, the meat is solid and the teeth are fat, but not too greasy. I definitely want to focus on the recommendation; I have never tasted Shanghai fried and five-color dumplings. How can I count this snack? The soup is rich, the filling is fragrant and fragrant; the summer special peach sparkling wine sweeps the summer heat, it is refreshing; the newly developed dishes Zuo Zongtang chicken, peas fried mushrooms and gold seafood The package is also a must.
In short, this restaurant is a great place to gather with friends!

(Translated) Food is good :)
Located in the inner Chinese restaurant of the downtown department store in Sydney, New Shanghai sometimes needs to wait in line to sit in. There are many choices of dishes, and the taste is also very good. The price is low and medium, and the fried food is also made on the spot. The store is also very decorated. Chinese style.
Jessie personally likes and recommends eating spicy friends. Next time you can try boiled fish, it is a Sichuan cuisine, it is very good.
The only drawback of this shop is that it is suitable for dinner. If the number is small, there are not many things that can be ordered, and it will not be enough. The amount of meals is sufficient.

Food is good :)

(Translated) The new Shanghai's Xiaolongbao and raw fried packets are well-deserved, the juice is sufficient, the noodles are fried and the noodles with vegetable juice are very healing. The cold-boiled and smoked fish have won my heart. Shaoxing drunk chicken taste It’s too big, but the little friend said it’s lighter than the one at home.
The wine with peach juice is limited during Valentine's Day, and the shape is also very eye-catching. The small umbrella can really support it. There are also dishes made with gold foil, which tastes good and has a kind of home-cooked food.
Have a nice noon with my friends [yeah]

(Translated) Smoked fish is delicious! ! ! I saw the smoked fish made by Huang Lei in the longing life, which is especially friendly to this dish. New Shanghai is a very authentic Shanghai dish. Every time I go to ashfield, I have a long queue. Westfield opened this new, me who saved the city office workers.
As a Wuhan person, sesame paste is a soul, and the sesame sauce in the red oil is very fragrant. It is better than a lot of sesame sauce.
Needless to say, Xiao Long Bao and Sheng Jian.
Shanghai's signature dishes, you don't have to go to ashfield to eat later, just eat at Westfield~~~
Happy ~ small surprise is ~ peach wine cellar to drink duck 😆

(Translated) I didn’t know that Westfield had eaten downstairs. I found out that it was not the new Shanghai that ashfield often lined up. It’s just a little hungry, and lunch is here.
The environment is elegant and quaint, although the CBD is not so crowded.
To eat Shanghai food, small cages and raw fried is a must. The four-color small cage looks good and delicious. It is very fresh. It is fried with new shrimp and pork. The outer skin is super crisp.
I also ordered the red oil to copy the hand, mixed with the sesame sauce, very fragrant and not too spicy, the waiter Miss Sister said that it is all shrimp, each head is big, the amount is super.
Other good ones are four-baked bran, braised pork, Shaoxing drunk chicken, salted egg yolk tofu, gold seafood bag (egg dumplings)~
In the tail of Valentine's Day, I also drank a limited peach wine, a strong peach flavor, sweet and fragrant, so satisfying~

I heard that the new sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed sautéed And beef silk, beef silk is super delicious, you can't stop it without using rice. The drunk chicken is also very tasty. I really like Shaoxing's Shunkou.
Just for Valentine’s Day, the cocktail is not over yet, and the peach taste is super delicious.
