What a hidden gem of a restaurant. Highly recommend giving this place a go for lunch or dinner. Tucked away out of the busy part of The Entrance and with 180 degree views of the Ocean you won't regret going here for a meal. The service was prompt and courteous and the food was well portioned, well presented, tasty and unique. We will return!

My husband and I had lunch at Ocean Restaurant for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We were given a window seat, which was perfect. The Service was amazing and food was incredible. We will definitely be going back again.

After lockdown we celebrated our two birthdays, anniversary and the Lunar New Year by lunching at Ocean Restaurant. Its the "go to" place for any special occasion. Again, the service was friendly, attentive but not intrusive, each course was superb and the atmosphere delightful. For us, there is no comparable restaurant on the Central Coast. Ocean is a cut above and we have never been disappointed.

Beautiful location, great food and lovely accommodating staff. It was too hot where we were sitting (that is the only negative) but the staff were more than accommodating in moving us to another table for dessert without it even being requested. Could not fault the food at all, it was delicious.

Not only the views were great, but the food and service was amazing as well. We ordered a 3 course plus 2 course meal. The dishes were finely presented and the ingredients tasted fresh and properly cooked. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. Meals included a glass of wine which is always welcome. Overall, around $150 for 4 dishes, one dessert, 2 glasses of wine and a side of chips.

The food, the service and the view are wonderful. What wasn't so good is the heat. It was a very hot day. Some of our group were sitting in the sun and suffered even more than I did. There is aircon but with the front door and windows open it was never gonna work. We would only go back in the winter.

Love the seafood platter and view, as always. Didn't like booking a window table, paying a $40 holding deposit then being sat away from the window. I reminded them about booking a window seat, but was told rudely that they were reserved. We watched 3 empty window tables sit unused throughout our dinner, and as we left they were still unused.

Issue we had was that ordering the seafood plate for one at $68, one of the items was described as a 'slipper lobster'....... now as an average customer and not a chef (and I'm sure i'm not alone). When you see 1/2 lobster on a menu you think lobster...... not Balmain or Moreton Bay bug! There is a significant size difference and their menu is purposefully misleading! If it had been described as 1/2 a bug instead of a lobster i would NOT have ordered the dish! Five different staff didn't seem to care when they asked how was the meal..... not really caring what my response was. Told me that it had only been on menu for a couple days.......but actually when you look back at their couples menu back before December was called same thing. Then asked if we would like to leave a tip...... Really.....No!

An awesome spot to stay, right on the water, we stayed for 1 night on a trip up the coast. Stayed in a spa unit, (spa on the balcony over looking the coast) just fantastic. We were very surprised at the quality of the restaurant in a small motel. 4 course truffle degustation, just beautifully cooked and the presentation is grand. We will definitely stay there again on our trips northward. BC

My husband and I were on a weekend away in the area and I found this restaurant through google and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was really lovely, we were sat by the fire to have a glass of wine before being seated and enjoying a seafood platter. We hadn’t been out for a nice dinner in a while and we thought the restaurant had a lovely warm and romantic feel to it. The waitresses were so lovely and we thought they were professional as well. Steak and a great desert menu and well stocked bar. The service is exceptional the staff helpful and professional in all areas of service.

I absolutely love Ocean! It is without a doubt my favourite restaurant on the Central Coast. It is located in the Ocean Front Motel in Blue Bay, and treats diners to spectacular ocean views from its floor to ceiling windows. Dining area is bright and spacious, and tables aren't too close together -a real plus for me as I hate being crowded. Food: totally amazing! Primarily modern Australian with a focus on seafood, the menu is creative and offers a good choice of dishes to suit most palates, the restaurant is fully licensed, and service is prompt, efficient and friendly. Prices, although not the cheapest around, worth every cent given the quality of food and service. I can't fault Ocean! I actually score it 6 out of 5!😊❤👍🥂

The food was hit and miss...mostly miss. Good: Nice atmosphere with a gas fire, near the ocean and warm dining area. Amazing scallops and a nice duck main. If that's all we'd ordered, this would be a 4.5 star review. Average: Wait staff were nice, but poorly trained. Forgivable due to newly reopened after covid. I only include this as a message to the owners that clients notice poorly trained staff. Make sure they know the dishes and can pronounce them. Can't see out of the windows due to fogging up. A huge part of the appeal of this place is the location, but you can't see the beach outside. I have no idea how to fix the fogging up, but it's a downer when you book a moderately expensive place in a great location and you can't see out. Bad: Medium rare steak was well done - unforgivable. If you screw up by one increment I'll be ok - medium rare can be rare or medium, but well done is horrible (no offence if that's how you like it). Everything was under-seasoned except, strangely, the spinach on the steak. Speaking of which, the greens on the steak was just baby spinach leaves...a big pointless stack of them. Give me a few charred asparagus shoots, or broccolini - not some cold raw spinach. Or no greens and make me order is fine. The sea water oysters were boring. Key lime oysters lacked acidity. This place has potential. Some dishes are worth ordering (natural oysters, scallops and duck), but you can't know. Hopefully the chef improves the attention to detail on all dishes. It's not a huge menu, so no excuse for not nailing everything. We probably won't be back unless we hear something changed.

Had lunch here today. The food, service and drinks were exceptional. We'll definitely be back. Not our first visit, the last time was almost 22 years ago and my then girlfriend got quite upset after dinner as she thought it was the night I was going to pop the question. I did a month later at Crowne Plaza and it's taken us this long for my wife and I to get back there. We won't be waiting so long to return this time.

The good - service was great, certainly stood out from many places around here. Atmosphere is good and inside is spacious and cool. Food wise was ok nothing noteworthy to be honest but nothing bad either. We had the seafood platter for 2 of us which was pretty big more than enough food.

Very pleasant dining experience. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and every dish was delicious, with sizeable portion. It is a bit on the pricey side, especially their wine list. One word of advice is this place is infinitely better to visit for lunch than dinner, because the view is amazing during the day. After sunset, you can't see anything outside and the view becomes as good as black walls.

Took my parents to lunch here today for my mum’s 82nd birthday. I called ahead to check on menu choices and ease of access. I have to say Jenny who helped me when I called, and Deanne who served us today both provided exceptional customer service. My dad is very shy, and at 90 gets nervous outside his comfort zone. Deanne was so kind and engaging... he felt right at home .... service was efficient and attentive but not intrusive. My mum got a birthday wish and candle with her dessert ... the food / wine was excellent ... and the views over the water extraordinary. My parents got to chat briefly to the chef as we were leaving to complement him on our meals ... overall a beautiful lunch experience in every way. Thank you from the 3 of us. Kerry.

Great atmosphere. Beautiful view. Lovely and attentive staff. The entrée was gorgeous. I had the octopus. Tender and flavourful. Absolute treat. For main I had the seared scallops cooked to perfection and seared to heavenly goodness. I did indulge in dessert and altough they offer an indulgence plate comprising of mostly all desserts on the menu I decided on a crème brulé. It was everything I hoped for in a brulé, creamy, sweet and smooth with a pleasant vanilla and white chocolate after taste. Definitely returning customer. Well done to all the staff.

our family met up at this restaurant in January when we were visiting from UK. Unfortunately my wife had a bad fall in the restaurant resulting in her breaking her pelvis in 3 places. The accident was largely caused by the poor internal decoration and bad placement of furniture. Great expanse of glass overlooking the sea which is fantastic but internally all black carpets, black walls and black furniture. My wife tripped over a small black coffee table pushed out into the circulation area on to the black carpet which was not seen!! The staff said they had told the owner of the problems but he liked the design!! Ruined our holiday.

This is my second time here. I dont remember my first experience but I can give a review on my second. Atmosphere is great and so is the view of the ocean but if they had open windows that be amazing and perfect. Service was okay, they seemed new but they were nice I guess thought after serving 3 glasses of lemonade to my three brothers they ran out? Well I can't judge. The food well I can say its not worth $290 the Bennalong resturant cost more but it was worth more than this. I will talk the pros and cons. The best dish was the smoked salmon topped what seemed to be like chips and ikura roe and under the salmon was sauce that tasted either sour cream or really light mayonnaise. The smoked scent made me want to eat abit more and I like the chip and the sauce a really good combination. The garlice bread I laughed becauce its just bread with a side of this garlic sauce with oil but bread was nice. I liked one of the cocktails which was called cosmopolitan which had vodka and cranberry. The scallops with these slices of cheese i think it was parmasean and pieces of gnocchi was nice. I liked the gnocchi soft and chewy and is not over powered like some other gnocchis I have tasted. The scallops are really soft and chewy, these dishes have flavor even when I was drinking my cocktail. What would have been my best experience. The oysters half was just "fresh" raw oysters and the other is topped with green flying fish row, this greasy chives and ikura roe. I have eatened many fresh oysters, not a fan with this one the three toppings was just weird you taste the saltiness of the ikura oil from the chives and the taste of the flying fish roe. Not a good combo I wanted to spit it out. The dish I ordered is this trout I think its a hybrid trout topped wity ikura and flying fish roe and pieces of cucumber with ink spagetti and white sauce. I did not enjoy it, the trout was soft but I felt like I was eating mash potato with raw trout, ink spagetti was tasteless so I am eating watery noodles, I think the cucumber was pointless because you are eating really soft trout that it taste mushy. The octopus it tasted funny noy really grilled just soft and inside is tasteless. I wanted to drink something fizzy cause I had much ikura, flying fish roe and that greasy chive and that mushy trout or I would barf. But amyways is it worth around $290 nah not really. Where I live I can buy a dozed of fresh oysters and some trout and make it myself and it be less than $100. But anyways second time not liking it is a sign so I kinda hope I don't come here but take it as a feedback. It was hard to decide what I should rate but yeah.

March 12th 2019.. we have a family cousins get together every 3 months and this time it was our choice. We live close by, so all our cousins agreed to make the journey up the coast from Sydney and Wollongong. There was 16 of us. Just had a delicious dinner at Ocean Restaurant. The waitress, who was working alone on the floor, was attentive, friendly and just a pleasure to have been served by. Because we are staying at the Ocena Front motel we were able to get 2 meals for $48 so my partner got Entree and Main, and I got Main and Dessert. He enjoyed his Oysters Kilpatrick and fish of the day with chips and salad. I got Cornfed Chicken (with crispy skin. Yum) and brownie for dessert. Yummy! Thank you to the chef and amazing waitress. I just left a review about the motel and now the restaurant. I really need to come back. Our wonderful waitress informed us that there were whales out on the water today around 2pm. And where we were we? At the Christmas shop at Long Jetty. Hopefully we will get to see some before we leave tomorrow. I don’t want to go home

I've eaten at the Ocean Restaurant before, and had some of the best meals I've ever eaten. After the last time, though, I'd think twice before going back. Not that it was terrible, but we had a starter, an entrée, two mains, two servings of bread, two beers and a glass of champagne, and it cost $170. And for that sort of money, I expect it to be exceptional. Unfortunately, it was only marginally better than a pub meal. The bread was very nice (olive bread with honey & thyme), the starter (quail) and entrée (lobster slipper) were pretty good, but my $42 eye fillet steak (main) was dry - only the last mouthful was great. The accompanying mushrooms and jus were outstanding, but that's it. My wife had the cold seafood platter, and she loved all the seafood, but the mussels were tiny. Laughably so. It was almost an insult serving them up. Sadly, the service was uninspiring too. It was efficient, but cold and felt subtly unfriendly. We didn't feel welcome. To the contrary, we felt we were an imposition. Plus, even though my wife booked a month ago, we were given a table right near the front door, desk and reverse-cycle air-conditioning. And the AC was blowing cold air all over us. I don't suffer much from the cold, but I had to go back to the car to get my jacket, and even though I ran back and put my jacket on, I was still cold under the AC. Freezing. I was so uncomfortable, it was all I could think about. Eventually, I said something about it, and the waitress said she'd turned the temp down because it was stuffy, but she would turn it back up. I said I don't want to make everyone else suffer, and was happy to take another table (no window tables left), but she said no, it was probably just her. She then turned the temperature up, and I was no longer cold, so when she came back to the table, I thanked her, and she repeated that it was probably just her. This was nothing terrible, but it's subtly unwelcoming. She positioned the issue as a question of her comfort or mine, so I spent the rest of the night feeling guilty that she was now uncomfortable. No finger bowl with the seafood, either, and a few other little things. And at the end of the night, they over-charged us by $40. Tried to hit us up for the hot & cold seafood platter, when we only ordered the cold. They apologised and fixed it, but then spent quite a bit of time explaining how I could add a tip with their eftpos machine...! All up, very disappointing. Perhaps mostly because I now don't have a favourite restaurant on the Coast. I fear the Ocean has gone the way of Onda. Great in its early days, but steadily downhill.
