Comments of Pipeclay Pumphouse Restaurant

This restaurant is incredible!
Food is devine, staff are impeccable, surroundings are inviting.
Do the set wine menu, we aren't white wine drinkers. Though, it was sumptuous on the palate with the dish.
Great work team!

Picturesque location with absolutely fabulous food.
We were lucky enough to get a booking for their New Year's Eve Degustation.
Showcasing local produce with matched wines, the chef put the region on the plate highlighting the diversity of flavours available.
Definitely book yourself a table when next in Mudgee - otherwise make a special trip. The dining experience is worth the drive.
L.
Loved this little place! You could tell the restaurant has found its rythym in pumping out delicious degustation dishes. The meals came well timed and with gorgeous presentation. Very glad with the price point and the quality of the food. Stand out dish was the dessert with homemade marshmallow fluff! Would come back :)
S.
Amazing food that catered well for gluten free. The quality and creativity of the meals were excellent. We had great service from our waitress Bill whose bubbly personality made it a fun and happy night for us.
A. S.
Had the most delicious and wonderful few hours eating the local produce, served in the most exquisite and mouth watering ways. Set amongst the vineyard on the hill overlooking the reed filled damn looking over the valley to the mountains. All over one of the most pleasurable afternoons.
S. L.
This was our first meal in Mudgee and it didn't disappoint. The charcuterie board with the restaurant's own chorizo made an impression with a mix of salty, sour, sweet elements to whet the appetite. The confit trout was cooked just right. The pumpkin gnocchi was novel but the goat cheese was a little heavy. After the gnocchi, we were quite full already and the flavour of beef cheek was a little bit intense. The fresh lemon sorbet helped clean the palate and prepared us for the rich chocolate dessert. Overall, the meal was very satisfying and a great introduction to the Mudgee food scene.
R. M.
Nice location and ambience in the restaurant. I thought the food was average food for the price hence the 4 stars.
A. S.
My partner and I were visiting from Canberra and had been told Pipeclay was a must to visit. It definitely didn't disappoint! The 6 course degustation menu was incredibly curated, with each meal providing its own special experience. I highly recommend Pipeclay Pumphouse for their outstanding food and service.
H. L.
Food is 5 out of 5 stars. The ocean trout and the duck breast were the most delicious courses. Flavours and texture are all on point, generous portions and reasonable price tag.
Wine matched well with the food.
Dessert was creative, loved the marshmellow and ricotta semifredo combination.
Will definitely come back!
B. N.
One of the best showcases of food I have ever had. Every course was delicious, so delicious that we went through the menu again before finishing up on dessert. Definitely keen to go back and would definitely recommend!
E.
The degustation was simply the best. Each course of locally sourced ingredients were thoughtful, delicious and inspired. Will definitely go again when next in Mudgee.

We are locals and this is my husbands favourite place to eat. Had lunch and the food was outstanding as was the service. The addition of an English lass to the staff called “Billy” made the meal also entertaining as she is a real wag. Tara always very professional. Well done to all.
P. I.
A delightful experience dining in at the pipeclay pumphouse restaurant. The food was tasty. In addition, we felt the sincerity of the food that were served to us. Our favourite food of the night was the trout as it was it was balance with oranges and how well the trout was cooked.
If you're in Mudgee, come drop by to the pipeclay pumphouse for their dinner. The only thing is that you need to book months ahead to get sitting.
M. J.
Food was amazing, they were so accommodating to our dietary requirements. Service was fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed our degustation lunch.
E. W.
Amazing degustation and fantastic service. Wine selection stunning and great vibe. Attention to detail was second to none with the food and catering for food allergies, gluten free were perfect
S. T.
Great food, service and surrounds, must visit in Mudgee. Also kid friendly! Very reasonably priced Degustation menu with Wine pairing options.
R. C.
Excellent food! Great view, good service, good value. For us portions could be smaller (probably half especially ragu/ dessert) and spaced a little further apart, was at a bursting point at the end. If being pedantic the beef was a little over and the chocolate icecream was too much bitter/rich - vanilla may have been better.
C.
Simply delicious, each dish it’s amazingly matched with the Mudgee wines, the portions are very generous. Excellent experience and ambience
N. G.
Easily one of the best regional NSW restaurants. High quality, tasty and on the large side 6 course set menu with an okay regional wine list with matched wine option. Book a long long way ahead to secure your table.

A MUST visit in Mudgee
Loved it all. Great vibe, amazing food and fantastic service. I thoguth it was very reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Can't wait to return (SOON!)
J. P.
Fantastic 6 course degustation lunch menu that covered a good range of food and flavours. The charcuterie board and white chocolate panna cotta in the photos were great to start and end the meal with respectively. The service staff were friendly and did a good job of describing each dish. It was too hot for the wine pairings as it would have meant an afternoon headache but a glass the Robert Stein Semillion Sauvignon Blanc was refreshing and went well with the meal.
M. H.
Absolutely 5 star dining experience! The degustation menu really showed off the paddock to table concept which manifested into a delicious spread of wholesomely tasty dishes. Thanks to the amazingly friendly and knowledgeable wait staff we were educated on the origins of the key ingredients which unsurprisingly were mostly sourced from nearby farms. The photos will give you a glimpse but I recommend a visit and taste for yourself.
J. B.
Dessert was amazing but could've skipped the rest. "Regional" wine pairing menu wasn't worth it. The Robert Stein wine list was great. Amazing service and location.
K. G.
As we dined for dinner it was too dark to comment on the outside surroundings however what we could see in the headlights was quite intriguing.
The big wooden barn style door opened in to a cosy and rustic typically Australian style room that was buzzing with conversation yet not noisy.
Robert Stein red wines ordered the 6 course degustation could begin....
Dish after dish was stunning.
The confit Ocen Trout & Rosewater Chocolate dessert were standouts. Considering I don't particularly like Rosewater, I was pleasantly surprised.
Yum, yum & more yum!
Will go back for lunch the next time to take in the property as well as the delicious food.
A must visit whilst you're in lovely Mudgee.
D. U.
Went with a group of four and had a wonderful lunch. Choose the 8 course tasting menu with matching wines (except for the designated dtiver). They suggested we mix up the choices which worked really well. try to get near the window for lovely district views. we drove from Dubbo return which was doable ....just. would definitely return
J. M.
Fantastic food, good value and topped off with friendly, entertains staff
R. 0.
Amazing food. Every dish on the degistation was amazing. Staff were friendly and informative.
T. L.
A welcome surprise with some great food, prepared very professionally. The staff was extremely friendly, knew the food, the area and their wines. The restaurant hangs artwork from a local artist who does great paintings of animals, they all recommended him.
Additionally, there's also a heritage Motorcycle display that the original owner setup, a dozen or more old bikes, info about the history and loads of other knit knacks around. I highly recommend this place for the food, the wine, and the motorcycle museum.
A.
only offers degustation menu, great value, food and service both are spectacular. book in early to avoid disappoint, they are very popular its often booked out.
A. L.
A little out of the way (a 10 min drive or taxi from town) but worth a visit if you're in Mudgee. We went for a fancy lunch and had so much great food, we skipped dinner. Recommended.
a. k.
Great experience here, lovely staff and very good service. Food 10/10!! Only feedback I do have is, some music in the restaurant would be nice. 🙂
S. T.
Awesome lunch experience. Food is amazing and the waitress was top notch. Friendly, attentive and added to the experience. Will be back.
A. L.
A fantastic dining experience. The food was amazing, the staff highly accommodating and super friendly.
Highly recommended fine dining!
F. C.
Came for lunch and was not disappointed. Very good service and food to match. We went for the 5 course degustation which was more than enough. If you are very (very) hungry, there is an 8 and a 10 course option. Should you wish, you can also go a la carte.
Standouts for me was the gnocchi with duck ragu, and the Wagyu steak. All delicious.
L. C.
This place is often booked out and for good reasons. We had the 8 course set menu for dinner (the 5 course did not include dessert). Each dish was inventive, delicate and delicious! Must visit for Mudgee!
K. S.
Hands down the beat meal you will have in Mudgee - worth the price of admission Each course was absolutely spectacular.
d.
The Chef knows best. One of the best breakfast meals I have had in a very long time. Try the bacon and egg gnocchi with truffle oil and the potato and dill pancake.
K. H.
Really nice 5 course degustation. The bread was nicely crusted and the olives and oil were divine. Highly recommended.
B. O.
Wonderful courses, with suitably paired wines, served by accommodating and friendly staff, made for a lunch that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
T. M.
Very nice restaurant great services. We love food and matching wine. Came back every time we visit Mudgee.
J. G.
Great service and atmosphere. Food is excellent. Choose between 5, 8 or 10 course degustation but you can swap and change selections. Highly recommend.
R. H.
Great atmosphere , artwork , ambience and brilliant food .....good wine list too ..
Outstanding value ... just go
G. Z.
Visited in April. So so experience. Positives include service and ambience. Location is also great and we had a nice view of the sunset before we went in.
The food was rather mediocre. Ingredients were fresh but the dishes were seasoned variably, some too salty and some combinations quite awkward. We left some food for almost all the courses unfortunately.
G. K.
Undoubtedly the best meal we've had in a long, long time. The Degustation menu was perfect in all aspects.
M. P.
Loved the idea of trying a farm to plate restaurant so my husband and I popped by to try a tasting plate. Recommend booking ahead of you want a table, we managed to grab an outdoor table but we weren't planning on staying long anyway.
Loved the meats and paired with a local wine from next door topped off the experience.
We plan on returning for a long lunch next time we are in town.
L. M.
Our second visit here and just as delighted as tge first time. A very generous 5 course degustation menu with matching Robert Stein wines really hit the mark. Even on a busy night, service was warm and efficient. Highly recommended.
P. B.
Friendly and helpful staff..... Check
Great food.... Check
Delicious matching wines.... Check
Beautiful location.... Check
Thanks Pipeclay we will definitely be back!!
J. G.
Went for breakfast, terrific service very friendly, amazing outlook from table across paddocks to mountains. Food was top class and reasonably priced. Open fire place lit. Highly recommend.
M. C.
Great experience, a must do in Mudgee. We had a set menu of 6 courses and all items were intriguing and delicious. Our friend had the vegetarian alternative and was also very pleased.
We did find a couple of bones and seeds in our trout dish but that was still the favourite of our group.
Service was great, staff were professional and friendly. Dishes came out at the perfect time.
The restaurant also features the amazing artwork of Warbehr. Which you can purchase there or visit the art house in town centre for more.
M. P.
This winery has an restaurant that I believe that others talk about. I would recommend a lunch time sittings as the view complements the amazing food. The table service is fantastically friendly and accommodating to our menu changes.
It is a must to have lunch or breakfast or any meal at this place.
O. J.
Great service and some courses were good but others were not. The first course included a pork purée and the fourth was a poached pork which were both not nice.
T. A.
If I could rate this restaurant higher I would! I am vegan and they went above and beyond to cater for me for the 8-course degustation. If you have any dietary just let her know when booking. They were so helpful, explaining to me how everything was made. So impressed. The other people in my party loved their food too! And the Robert Stein wines we're a perfect match. Would 100% recommend and would go again!
C. B.
Booked months in advance not to be disappointed and thank goodness we did. What a culnerary experience, the food was delicious! Loved it all especially the Mushroom Gnocchi 👌🏻We dined with our 5year old son and his food was just as good. Service brilliant and ambience perfection. We had a wonderful dining experience and wine matched the perfect night. Thank you!!
F. C.
A great place for dinner. We had a six course degustation menu and each course was excellent.
The ambiance, service and food are all excellent and good value for money! The winery itself is also well worth a visit and there are interesting sculptures in the garden!
R. T.
Fantastic restaurant. The degustation menu is well crafted, presented beautifully & tastes delicious. Standouts are the trout confit & the gnocchi with goats cheese mousse.
The staff are friendly & knowledgeable & the overall atmosphere is pleasant & relaxed.
The only negative was the duck breast was overcooked, but still tasted fine.
Without a doubt, the best dining experience in Mudgee.
G. H.
We had the 6 course degustation menu and Stein's wine pairing. The food was excellent and some great wines as well. The staff were so friendly accommodating as we were delayed for our reservation. Can't wait to visit again.
B. T.
The confit trout and chocolate/marshmallow dessert were the real highlights of this degustation! Really enjoyed the fresh ingredients and the thought put into each course. The portions are quite generous for a degustation menu so come hungry. The service was also warm and friendly- would definitely recommend visiting when in Mudgee.
D. M.
Beautiful lunch , service first class. Our waitresses worked really hard over the service. A couple of the items on the menu I didn't love , but certainly edible . For the cost, we thought it excellent value
K. F.
A real gem in the Mudgee region and deserving of a few Hats. The setting amongst the Robert Stein vineyard is stunning and the decor inside with paintings by local artist Warbehr sets the tone for a delectable experience. The 6 course set menu that we had on our visit was stunning. Each course delighted and complimented each other perfectly - my particular favourite was the the cured ocean trout. The wine list, as you'd expect, includes Robert Stein wines plus a great range of other local Mudgee wines. Wine pairing is also offered but after two days of wine tasting, we knew exactly what we wanted!
You'll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant locally. Make sure you book in advance.
R. W.
Fabulous place to celebrate my 50th. World class dining with Australian relaxed feel. They deserve a hat!
L. C.
This place is amazing. The waiting staff went above and beyond to being together the experience of the most wonderful meal we have ever had. If you visit mudgee this place is a must. Thank Pipeclay
K. B.
Delicious food and wine match. The gnocchi was out of this world.
P. W.
Loved it! Had a fantastic dinner here, the staff were fantastic and the food is just amazing. Get the robert stein wine pairing for a real treat.
S. R.
Excellent quality food and wine pairing experience. Highly recommended. 6 food courses and 5 wines set menu.
M. F.
Great meal and fantastic ambience overlooking the vineyards and distant mountain range.
E. W.
Classy, intimate atmosphere. Waitstaff knew their stuff and were extremely accommodating and friendly. Food was delicious. I would suggest allowing more time between courses and wines.
f. b.
Good 5 star fine dining. We had the local wine matching as well as the stein wine menu. all the 6 courses were excellent and showcased best fresh local ingridents.
Highly recommend a visit to the Pipeclay pumphouse, there are also some arts, lake for photo as well.
A. H.
We had such a wonderful experience with Pipeclay pumphouse. Driving from Sydney that morning and running late and then also forgetting to mention a dietary req the staff were really accommodating and friendly. The chef and staff were flexible and went above and beyond expectations. The food was amazing, we did not have the matching wines but the selection of wine by the bottle and glass was excellent.
Thank you to all and a special mention to Jay from Mudgee providing fabulous recommendations for the rest of our weekend away.
G. A.
A lot better than last time.......
....which was 6 years ago. Our degustation lunch last Friday was very good in all aspects - especially the food which we both appreciated. My wife had vegetarian and I had non-veg.
Service and atmosphere also both very good which made the cost justifiable.
N. C.
Wow. Genuinely one of the best meals I have ever had. Wonderful varied degustation, decent value, friendly and laid back and knowledgeable service. Would go back in a heartbeat. The scallop entree was particularly inventive and incredible
J. V.
Food 11 out of 10 absolutely fabulous, matching Stein wines were disappointing. Would definitely go back just for the degustation next visit to Mudgee but opt for the regions matching wines.
K. M.
Stunning degustation meal (2 of the courses pictured). Will definitely be back.
T. H.
Setting is beautiful and the service great if a little over done - felt a little forced and stiff. The food is very good - but 6 courses in 2 hours is just too much guys. I fully understand why with covid but I'd suggest offer one mains or the other not both. The cost could stay the same- quite reasonable for the standard produced. But- we'll come back when it's a la carte again.
B. N.
Amazing dining experience from start to finish
Delicious food and top service
B. M.
Lovely dining experience with beautiful ambience, food and service.
G. S.
I was here for breakfast and had the bacon and egg gnocchi which was really good. My partner had the potato and dill pancake which was okay. I found the service staff to be lovely but once they had delivered our food we were pretty much our own. It wasn't terrible or anything, the food was good, the environment is lovely but I probably wouldn't go back now I have had the experience.
C. W.
My husband and I had the 10 course degustation. It was the best dining experience we have ever had! Food was divine, service was exceptional, the wine was perfectly matched to each course. Would go again in a heartbeat!
M. S.
Would highly recommend Pipeclay Pumphouse. The degaustation wine pairing is definitely a reason to come to Mudgee. Food was excellent and service was to match. Special thanks to Tara and the team for making the experience such a worthwhile attraction!
J. M.
A great dining experience with excellent, knowledgeable service and the food was delicious with generous, flavoursome degustation servings. We paired it with a 2006 Robert Stein Riesling. Would highly recommend it- well worth the trip to Mudgee!
L. A.
Hands down one of the best resturants you can experience.
The food was absolutely exquisite, the staff are really down to earth, friendly and enjoy seeing their customers having an amazing time.
I spoke to the young man who owns this resturant after enjoy the 10 course degustation (one of the best feeds of my life), my partner and I returned 6 months later and he remembered our names.
I would recommend this resturant to everyone visiting or passing through Mudgee.
J. F.
Worth the wait. Came for lunch and got dinner. Poor waiter was working solo and under the pump. The food was excellent. Pork belly and scotch was delicious. Nice outlook over a dam. Wine list from Stein - printed list needs updating as vintages were incorrect. Would come again and recommend.
L. C.
What an incredible experience it is to eat at the pipeclay pumphouse. We had the 6 course degustation menu and each course just got better. A lot of effort and thought has gone into creating and cooking this menu. My husband had the matching Robert Stein wines which were matched perfectly. The food and wine enhanced the flavours. Book well in advance to avoid disappointment of missing out. Well worth the visit if you are in Mudgee!
J. D.
This is an unbelievable restaurant with amazing food and great service. Highly recommended.
N. E.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary and had an absolutely wonderful meal. The food is exquisite and the service is attentive, without being invasive. The veal carpaccio rates as one of the best dishes I have eaten. Served with matching wines from the Robert Stein winery, you would struggle to find fault with this restaurant. Outstanding.
M.
Had a fantastic early dinner here recently. The view and atmosphere are wonderful but what really shines is the food. We had the 5 course degustation and everything (and I mean everything) was delicious. I can't remember when I enjoyed a meal as much as this one. We will be back when next in the area.
A. H.
A dinner at Pipeclay Pumphouse was the perfect ending to our trip away in Mudgee - beautiful sunset views from our table 🌄 good service and wonderful food expertly prepared made for a memorable evening.
R. C.
Fantastic meal, great service from the staff. Accommodating my dietary needs was really well handled so big thanks to the Chef.
G. M.
Excellent friendly service for my birthday lunch. Perfect day time setting. I think we had about 7 courses for a fixed price. All very nice but we couldn't finish all of the food for lunch!
A. M.
Beautiful fresh food. Impeccable quality, and some unique flavors. Great views as you sit and relax. Very tasty wine. You'll not be disappointed. Great place to bring the family.
Edit: I have been here 4 times now, and the quality has been consistently delicious.
R. P.
Came here for my husbands 30th birthday dinner, we had the 8 course degustation and matching wines. We absolutely loved it! Wines were matched perfectly and the food tasted amazing. We can't wait to come back and try the breakfast. Definitely a must while in Mudgee.
I. M.
Far too noisy. Food is fantastic, service is very good, wines also excellent. But won’t be back, sadly, as noise is unbearable and we struggled to have a conversation. Perhaps not helped by nearby hens’ night but they seriously need to address the acoustics here. Would be 5 stars except for this, which almost makes it one star!
C. H.
We had the 8 course menu and it was divine. The gnocchi was a favourite for the 4 of us as well as the salmon with orange/mandarin. I apparecite what some people are saying about price but you do find that out up front and make a choice so that’s an error on their side :) we had a very wonderful time, great ambiance, perfect views, relevant price for the fresh and delicious food and gorgeous bottles of wine we had. Great place to go if you enjoy nice food
S. T.
Very difficult to fault this restaurant. The degustation menus are designed for 2 people to share but there is plenty of food. Even with 5 courses we were extremely full by the end. I have no idea how anyone gets through 10 courses! A special mention for the gnocchi which was delicious.
The food itself was great and much of it is grown on site. They allow you to swap courses in/out to cater for taste which is a very useful option. Service was attentive. We had to drive back to Sydney and they were able to get the food out quickly, but without making us feel rushed.
The wine comes from the Robert Stein winery on site. They are known for their Reisling but the Shiraz wasn't bad either.
We will definitely return next time we are in Mudgee.
C. M.
Lovely meal, accomodating for dietaries and wine preferences. But bring your appetite, those 6 courses are HUGE. Don’t eat lunch beforehand
M. W.
Superbly crafted and presented food. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff make this place very special.
H.
Excellent food and dining experience. We had the 8 course degustation menu with matching wines. Not cheap at $135 a head but totally worth it. Highly recommended.
A. K.
The gnocchi ragu was fantastic. The 5 courses were all great and we maxed out at the 5 but did get the panna cotta with mascapone dessert...very delicious. 2 staff members were fantastic. The younger girl had some attitude issue and just dumped things on the table and left but we just focussed on the other two who were exemplary at their jobs. Definitely recommend lunch time for the scenery. Going for breakfast tomorrow too...the gnocchi again with egg and bacon will be divine. An absolute must if visiting Mudgee.
So we went for breakfast and had the gnocchi and potato pancake...both delicious. That gnocchi is quite exceptional. Thank you!
To Ian Agamalis (review just after us)...we watched a table of 4 have the 10 course and they did proceed to bring the next course of wine even though one girl was not progressing at the same speed. My partner is a good eater and he was full with 5 courses so if you are not full after 10, something has gone wrong. And if you find a degustation menu of this quality with accompanying wines cheaper in Sydney please do share. Your comments are the most unfounded of any I've read on this post.
C. N.
Had the 8 course degustation with matching wines and loved it! Food was amazing and the wines were matched with each course perfectly! Definitely recommend taking your time to enjoy the food, wine and company!
N. H.
Wow, food and service was outstanding. 8 course degustation with matching wines. The views are fantastic to boot. The grounds with a large pond/dam and outdoor ornamets are just beautiful.Sweet little frogs on the outside of the widows gathering their own dinners. Would not hesitate to encourage others to dine here. The pricing was also very reasonable. Cheers.
d. t.
Great views , good service and high quality tasty food. Only gripe would be portion sizes compared to money paid. We had 3 people at the table and portions were very small when dividing up the share plate. It was more like a taster of the courses presented on the menu.
M. P.
We had an 8 course degustation and loved every minute. Tasty, surprising, indulgent. Great art, great ambience, wonderful service. Our only regret was misunderstanding how to tip with eftpos as the waiters definitely earned their stripes.
J. G.
It's lovely to have access to a restaurant like this in a country town. The setting is gorgeous with a spectacular view over vineyards and back towards Mudgee. The floor staff obviously enjoy their work, they're attentive and very knowledgeable. There's a kitchen garden and a substantial amount of the produce used come from their own farm and small local producers. The menu is very well thought through and the kitchen must run like a Swiss watch because the food is absolutely lovely. Mudgee visitors really should book themselves a table as every meal has been a memorable experience for us. Even the crockery is from a local potter.
C. F.
When we arrived to Mudgee every winery we visited all the staff told us to go to this restaurant but said you would need to book well and truly in advance so we probably wouldn’t get in. Little to my knowledge my partner had made a sneaky booking in advance to celebrate our engagement that happened earlier that day. All I can say is what a way to celebrate, I’m a very fussy eater and the menu scared me a little bit but I loved everything they put in front of us. We opted for the 8 course menu and were so full by the end of it. The presentation of the meals are amazing and the quality of the food is worth every cent. Will defiantly come back if we visit Mudgee again and have already recommend this restaurant to our family who are frequent Mudgee visitors. If you want a fancy night out with elegant, delicious food this place is a must. Just take a taxi.
R. H.
Chef’s hat quality winery restaurant. Under-rated, a real find! 5 course degustation menu went at a cracking pace nicely matched with Robert Stein wines.
M.
One of the better restaurants I’ve been to, at any price. The room doesn’t have posh ambiance of big city restaurants but the food is superb, as is (their own) wine. And all for about $100 per head, including wine.
M. C.
Great breakfast gnocchi. You'd think you died and went to potato heaven. By all accounts the potato and dill pancake was also brilliant, though I didn't try it, so it seems that in terms of potato, they have a bit of a flawless record. Robert Stein may as well dub himself the undisputed potato king of the greater Mudgee area.
Their homemade bread was not totally to my liking, though I imagine some may find it divine. They used this bread in the French toast, which wasn't their finest hour. Overall, I found the toast a little too dense, and a bit rubbery for my liking. Again, the people I pinched the French toast from really enjoyed it, so I guess it may just be me.
Overall, it's a beautiful place in a beautiful setting with beautiful staff and and excellent way with the humble spud.
S. P.
Probably the best breakfast ever! Wild mushroom fricassee with truffle scrambled eggs! OMG! The flavour. The coffee is excellent. Service is warm and garden is a delight
P. S.
Amazing food as always! Pipeclay is the tourist attraction by itself. Amazing degustation with matching wine for only $125!!! Staff is so lovely and helpful! Can’t wait to go back there again
M. M.
Last Saturday we had a fantastic breakfast at Pipeclay pumphouse. The venue is amazing, with picturesque views over the vineyards, beautiful furniture and "pipping" hot fire place. The Staff were very attentive and helpful with all our needs and made our experience that much better.
The food was great! As we were a big party of 10 we were lucky enough to order a range of dishes from Wild Mushroom w/ truffle and scrambled eggs, Bacon and eggs gnocchi with herbs, potato and dill pancake with salmon, eggs and avocado as well as great coffee. The group consensus was that we were onto a winner.
If you haven't booked a wine tour yet, I would also recommend having a long breakfast and heading around the corner to their cellar door and sampling some of their fantastic wines.
If you are in Mudgee it doesn't matter if you are free for Breakfast Lunch or Dinner stop by here for a feed.
(It is best to make a booking)
B. &. P. F.
Excellent degustation luncheon in lovely location. Excellent service with matching local wines..although the wineglass could have had a bit more in it for the price.

We loved it here. Degustation menu was amazing. A really top eating experience in the country. Jay looked after us, he was so professional, so charming.

Mouthwateringly good!. Fresh, Vibrant and Flavoursome
We had the pleasure of dining at Pipeclay on our first trip to Mudgee, after seeing a few friends post photos of the Stein estate and the Restaurant, and after reading reviews on how great the food was, we would of been crazy not to visit such a cool looking place. Lets just say, our expectations were surpassed by the amazing experience and exceptional food at Pipeclay Pumphouse.
We were greeted with welcoming smiles as we entered the restaurant and from the moment we walked in, the service was faultless, our waitress for the evening, was well versed in the menu and just made us feel at home, quite a unique skill.
We opted for the 8 course degustation menu with matching wines and it did not disappoint. The marinated olives were amazing! and charcuterie, fit for a king, in particular the rillette was a standout. Generally, myself and my wife eat anything and are always game for something different, which we did receive in the form of the Kingfish crudo and Venison carpaccio, but, for those who arent as game, the great thing?… they give you options and you can easily swap it out for something else on the menu.
The Venison carpaccio was a personal favourite, such a unique flavour profile when paired with the subtlety of the pear, the kick of rosemary and the added complexity of the hazelnuts, so good. This was followed by the Bacon gnocchi and braised chicken which was intense! And the seared beef sirloin with truffle salted garden potatoes, WOW! Honestly not holding back with the flavours.
By this point, i was regretting the fact i had lunch, as the serving sizes, coupled with the wine, which was very easy to drink, was starting to catch up to me. Nevertheless, in for a penny, in for a pound.
Just before our friendly waitress placed dessert on the table, we looked at each other, content that we had made it through the degustation, and said to each other, ‘we’ll just have a spoon each’ because we were quite full.
Suffice to say, the Dark chocolate delice was placed on the table, and the combination of the Peanut brittle, mascarpone, peanut fudge and banana, was of such quality, it didn’t last too long.
Thanks once again for a great night of phenomenal food. We will make it back to Mudgee soon, and when we do, we will be booking a table at Pipeclay Pumphouse.

If you come to mudgee you need to dine here.
We had a late lunch here with friends and chose one of the degustation menus with some suggested modifications to suit a group of 4.
This place exuded a calm confidence only possible with a talented kitchen team steering the ship.
Local and on property produce shines with some classic techniques and house baked items. Well done, highlight of the weekend and we will be back!

Z. S.
Superb. Though I'd love to see a classical guitarist there to add to the ambience.
Won't get a better dinner
C. V.
I enjoyed the flavor of most of the dishes presented however the low lighting and colored crockery did not give a positive visual element to the dinner - all of the food appeared very “brown”. I was also quite distracted by the large number of cobwebs near the front windows of the restaurant.
N. S.
Beautiful place with nice food menu that changes often so u can go again and again and of course wine matching selection
Great service
Worth a try from everyone
D. H.
Beautiful ,out standing

Superb! We enjoyed a great evening here celebrating my husband's birthday. The six course degustation menu was superb. Beautiful location overlooking the dam, surrounded by the hills and watching the sun going down on the horizon. Very romantic. The restaurant had a lovely ambience and the staff were very friendly and created a relaxing welcoming atmosphere. All the courses were delicious - you could feel the love that had been put into the food emanating from the plate! Highly recommended.
