Comments of Roji Monster Burwood
W. T.
An average matcha ice cream, nothing special. The only unique thing is that it costs us a shocking $14, and it's more Instagrammable than your regular matcha soft serve. There are tons of better matcha ice cream shops here in Sydney for a quarter of the price here. Not recommended.
A.
There should be more staff, since they might get a bit busy with all the orders. The ice cream was yummy but $15 was a bit expensive for a small amount. I got the strawberry milk as well.
S.
The experience is more interesting than the food itself.
Ordering using stamps is fun and the shop has a cute vibe and is nicely decorated, but the ice-cream doesn't have much flavour, the soft serve topping was better. It's definitely overpriced - $11 per ice-cream!
Much better options to be had elsewhere.
M. L.
Best Uji Matcha soft serve! Lovely ambiance, friendly staff.
Here every week for our matcha fix! 😋
C. N.
Their ice cream was mediocre and it was quite pricey for what you’re given. I wouldn’t come here for the food but more for the experience.
J. D.
Not a bad place. We got here 10min before closing and the staff were still very accommodating. We weren't quite sure of what to order as it was our first time trying it out and were recommended the matcha ice cream...it was okay, but not great. Not being satisfied with the flavour, we ordered another one which was Taro with red bean and enjoyed it more.
J. B.
Cute store! The dessert came really quickly, and the service was alright. The dessert definitely wasn’t worth the price though. It was pretty average tasting, definitely not what you’d expect for something that costs $15
J. T.
Love this place! Situated in a little alley and it's very quiet. It's got a Japanese vibe to it with the little tatami mat in corner. The atmosphere is very cosy and warm, perfect for catching up or a cute date. Very limited seating available so it's quite a long wait and can be an hour. Limited menu but what they do serve, they serve well. The ice cream looks very unique and tastes great. It's not very creamy but has a more crunchy/icy texture to it. It's a self serve place so you order at the counter, collect.your food when it's ready and bring your plates back when you're done.
K. D.
Dessert restaurant with a limited menu, but that fact only adds to the charm of this place. The shaved monster ice cream comes in several flavours and you can choose two toppings/side dishes at $14. There are several hot and cold teas available . It can be expensive at $7.50 for a small pot of cold green tea. We went twice and both times the service was good and efficient. The person at the register was kind enough to explain the unknown menu items with a smile. The two visits was enough to get a good feel of the atmosphere and the menu. Though I enjoyed both experiences I don't think I will be back for a while.
e.
such a cute way to present ice cream! have great unique flavours and love getting the toppings. its a bit expensive but nice every once in a while
check out my food insta @erinxeats for more!

Went for the cuteness, stayed for the flavourful shaved ice. The strawberry yoghurt is by far my favourite compared to the others because it tasted creamier and fuller. The black sesame was still good and stronger in flavour than a lot of other store's ice cream. The tea is good quality and strong, albeit pretty pricey, and there is a minimum 1 item order per person, so not the best place if you want to sit and chill.
D. A.
Trendy modern, unique waffle and shaved ice house. The place is really extra for average quality dessert. The ordering system is unusual and may be cumbersome especially if there's a queue. The shaved ice looked cool but was simply average. The dishes were high priced too - two dessert yes for $29. The interior aesthetics are quiet and creative, even featuring a Japanese ryokan-styled seating. This may be too proper a place to host large parties or a study group sessions, more the quiet polite first date or the visit for its novelty. It's modern simplicity and location in Burwood makes this one of the cleanest and high end of the trending Asian dessert houses.
R. H.
A new dessert place in Burwood. Tucked in the the small alley way near Westfield shopping center. I like their way of ordering the ice cream. The monster ice cream is a bit bland and probably not worth the price tag. However, their soft serve is the bomb. Absolutely delicious and packed with flavour. The other tidbit is that everyone have to order at least 1 item from the menu. Not bad but at least they should put it somewhere so we knows earlier.

Finally tried the Roji! Lines have died down so we were seated straight away. I ordered
♦️ Matcha Ice Cream with a side of soft serve & jelly
♦️ Hojicha Latte. I paid extra $4 to get the cute roji marshmallow
The matcha and hojicha flavours were strong and good quality. Portion size was ok for the price. They have a min spend, or 1 dessert each, so recommend getting a waffle & ice cream. Whilst the latte was good it came to over $10 for a drink.
W. A.
I like the decor and how dessert is presented. Recommend eating the shaved ice first as it melts quickly.
C. G.
This is a cute Japanese dessert place, but perhaps a little style over substance. And you're also paying quite a bit for that style. Saying that, the waffle I had was tasty and my partner's green tea ice cream was good - and certainly a large servicing of it. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Will probably go back at some point.
A.
Unique and cute desserts!
Cute monster shaved ice dessert and hot delicious waffle monster are a great treat after dinner.
The crunchy, soft and buttery monster waffle is a must order.
Love the layout of the restaurant and there are cute monsters kidding around the area.

Nice interesting experience. Good for going once, if you are into gramming. Service was lacking as there was only one staff trying to do everything. Prices are a bit high for the quality but understandable for the location.
H. L.
Cute place. Food is okay. I love their design and love the small corner that you can sit like Japanese style. Great for friends meeting up and also spending time for relaxation.
C.
A lighthearted unique cafe that sell dessert with googly eyes ! Ice cream flavours range from matcha green tea, strawberry, and chocolate along with special side dishes like flower jelly or Oreo cream cheese. The wooden floors and furniture gave the cafe a pleasant ambience. Also a nice place to catch up with friends or even study on a weekday. Overall, a great dessert cafe to satisfy your green tea cravings :)
T. L.
Had the monster ice cream, was very delicious and texture was very good. However can be quite pricey and beware minimum spend per person and the waffle sells out very quick. Don't get the drinks, very overpriced and doesn't taste good at all.
M. M.
Try the black sesame ice cream + mini taiyaki
A. L.
Nestled in an alleyway of Burwood is this cute little monster cafe. I must say the favourite was the waffle, super delicious when it’s freshly made with a yummy gooey centre. The sesame Ice cream was extremely cute but unfortunately it did not taste good at all. The sesame had a raw, uncooked taste to it which is hard to describe, unlike the delicious sesame ice cream I’ve had before. This is why I am unable to give this place 5 stars even though I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Perhaps the sesame ice cream will be different next time.
J. J.
We ordered a cocoa and strawberry yogurt ice cream with 4 toppings. Total bill is $29.00.
The ambience, design and creativity was really good. The service we received was good as well. As we waited for a bit long, they gave us extra green tea ice cream as courtesy. However the flavor/ taste of the ice cream with side topping are average, didn’t stand out .. hence is Not very value for money. I would rate between 3 to 4 star.
P. L.
tried the matcha, sesame and chocolate shaved ice & the strawberry milk drink. Matcha and sesame def the standouts. $14 with 2 toppings a bit steep but still a nice treat once in a while. Best toppings are the jelly and mochi balls. Friendly staff. Recommended.
L. B.
Came here and tried their desserts. Generally this place is quite busy however it seems like the wait times have died down a bit now that they’ve been opened for longer. The desserts here a quite creative and definitely very pretty to take photos of which is why I believe they are so popular. In terms of taste it’s very average tasting nothing too special however their sparking peach drink is quite delicious and definitely something to try. This dessert place has a order policy where every member of your party must order at least one item each of the menu. Overall great place to go to but definitely would not be my first choice.
H. N. N.
Yummy ice cream and lots of cute sweet topping to choose with. The space is not noisy but a bit tight, not very suitable for a large group of friends.
Y. Z.
Nice cafe environment to take photos
(Insta?), but food and services are both really far from 5 stars with the pricy dessert.
For all food in the picture, we spent 37 dollars..............and not very tasty actually.
D. C.
Soft and smooth shaved ice. Flavours were strong and the staff assigns you seating so its very organised.
W. O.
Roji ice cream is a must try, in addition to the soft serve ice cream. Only gave it 4 stars because they insist that every customer must make an order, maybe due to limited seats.
M. G.
very unique place in burwood! japanese dessert place and the interior is like too! i felt like i was in japan, affordable i loved the monster waffle. everything comes as mini and its smaller than the picture.
A. L.
It is cute.. always wanted to go and finally went. It is interesting cause I don't know what I was enjoying until i scooped then i knew... it was ICE SHAVED... will go there again if I drop by burwood.
M. 1.
I liked it. It just took so long to line up. Got this fairly private section at the back behind the divider. Matcha ice cream tastes pretty good too
J.
I don't know why its only 2.5 Stars at the time I am writing this. It's not thaaaat bad. The monster shaved icecream's i tried - Matcha and Sesame flavour were quite strong which is good, it tasted premium. The con's I would say is that the wait times is too long, so come when its not dessert time after dinner, and also they run out of sides or options quite often which is disappointing.
K. M.
Friendly service and the taste is good. A bit slow now because there is less staff but overall a very nice store and great ambience. A little overpriced but it's a good experience nonetheless.
y. a.
Nice place and good presentation of food. Interesting ice cream texture, but my wife says it suppose to be like that. The word ice cream on menu is a bit misleading as it is more like shaved flavoured ice. Surprised that only one staff in Sunday afternoon, he works so hard. Good on him. Anyway, nice place to go and will come back again.
A. N.
Great dessert and unique! Definitely visit if you’re around Burwood.
T. A.
Excellent desserts, perfect for impressing a date. Fast service and impeccably mantained decor.
K.
Delicious ice cream- looks like a lot buts it’s sooooo light and texture is crumbly and doesn’t melt fast. Weird ice cream texture. Looked like dirt. Very nice. Not too sweet . The monster waffle was very dense and too thick. And the price is not cheap. $14 for ice cream.
e.
the ice cream is delicious but a bit on the expensive side, but the atmosphere and service was great.
Q. H.
the food was good, and the layout of the store is aesthetic. could be located somewhere else rather than an open alleyway though.
S. O.
Beautiful atmosphere and seating area. Cosy as well. Yummy waffle and ice-cream. Everything was great, just didn't like the chocolate sauce that came with the waffle, would've loved maple syrup instead. Other than that, it was a nice experience!
T.
So cute it’s like mini Japan. Would recommend but make sure to eat it quickly otherwise they start weirdly moving and growling. I dunno maybe you guys should find a different source of your ice cream...
H. Y.
Very nice place, It's very creative and the dessert are delicious.
A. J.
A cute Taiwanese dessert cafe for diligent food instagrammers! The ice cream selection was quite extensive, and the presentation was amazing! Would go there again with friends next time. However, the only downside is that the cafe gets quite popular in the night time especially on weekends, so you might need to wait for a seat. The prices are reasonable, although a little on the pricey end.
N. M.
We came here midday on a Sunday so got seating straight away. We parked in the streets and walked across the park. We got the matcha and black sesame ice cream with the red bean, taiyaki, cherry blossom jelly and Oreo toppings. My only suggestion is that we should be able to buy extra toppings without having to buy another ice cream. It is yummy though. The best part for us is that it is dog-friendly inside. It is so great to see places in Sydney that are progressive.
C. S.
It sits at a quiet corner. I like the decoration there. It would be a good catch up place for friends. The icecream tastes nice. Not cheap tho.
H. L.
Nice shredded ice and family friendly place too
C. Q. N.
Nice vibe, good icecream. Good for sharing.
S. Z.
We like the fit out very much, the icecream and milktea are much better than others.
J. G.
Ice cream offers a unique experience, well worth for its price. Setting and pricing is recommended for small groups of 2 people. Building style is reminiscent of traditional Japanese and Chinese Tea houses with a section including tatami mats for customers to kneel on. Staff attentive and willing to offer assistance and give recommendations from their assorted menu. Would definitely recommend the Matcha ice cream paired with Osmanthus Jelly and another topping of choice. An excellent location to come with someone after dinner for a satisfying and memorable dessert.
F. N.
Such a cute little dessert shop. We for the taro shaved iced and it was creamy and delicious. Was not too sweet for the kids.
S. L.
Best ice cream and desert shop ever! Try the monster waffle and Roji Monster signature monster ice cream. Black Sesame and Milk flavours are my favourite. It's not overly too sweet, but will give you the best shaved ice cream experience. And the Monster Waffle. so yummy with that Matcha cream. Don't forget to order an Oreo cheese cream side dish along with the ice cream. 5/5!
M. H.
Excellent everything! Yum ice cream, so much matcha, great sides, so much fun ordering. Everything about this was delightful. Highly recommended. I can't wait to visit again!
J. S.
REALLY nice icecream and such a cute aesthetic environment. The icecream is cute and the additional toppings are buffet style. very instagramable and would definitely go again
C. M.
It is OKAY. May be I am the big fan of green tea or macha tea, it is overwhelming for me. But the green tea ice cream is nice.
f. t.
Surprisingly nice japanese dessert cafe. Its a bit off the main street, so its not an obvious choice.
But the desserts are nice. Matcha Green Tea is from uji.
Worth a visit.
M. L.
Ice cream is below average but good looking
Staffs were extremely impatient & asked us to queue for 10min outside when the cafe was not full. They took so long to place an order. We just live super close to here but won’t come again.
E. C.
A bit hard to find from a street level perspective, if coming along Burwood road along the side of Bing Lee, look for the first alleyway near Gong Cha. Once inside you are presented with options for their signature item, where you elect the base dessert and options for 2 sides. However if this is not your fancy they do have a menu for a few other items and beverages. The store can be quite roomy, however will not be able to cater for large groups in peak times.
L. C.
Awesome service and beautiful shaved ice cream monsters
S. W.
It is very unique. Perfect foe those who like cute and new stuff. The cafe is nicely decorated but there is room for improvrment of the texture of ice cream and side dishes
F. X.
A nice place to catch up with friends but always crowded
S. T.
Cute little dessert cafe place tucked away from the main street.
Has a Japanese influence to the design and seating area at the back.
Would love to come back to try more flavours.
B. Y.
Very nice hidden away cafe off the main road. Highly recommended the matcha shave iced and hojicha latte there. Nice place to sit in and relax with friends. There is a minimum spend here per person.
T. S.
Taste is great but beware the $10 minimum spend per adult
M.
Would definitely come back. The matcha icecream was good with a rich matcha flavour. The osamanthus honey jelly and hojicha jelly was a delight as well. The place is also super cute and the staff was nice.
S.
Amazing ice cream. Not too sweet and very cute and Instagram able place. Their desserts reminds me of japan so great little place to go to if you want some ice cream.
K. H.
Cute food for the instagram, but only worth it once off. Has purchase rules to have a seat - made sense when it was very busy at launch, but perhaps not now.
S. L.
Great atmosphere, outstanding service. The girls were super helpful and the ordering process was unique (you use stamps to order!). The food was OK, not amazing but this place is really about the experience and aesthetics
T. S.
My personal favourite are those maccha and hojija latte, ice cream highly recommended the maccha flavor w/ the honey jelly topping 🤤black seame preserves the original flavour of sesame aroma and texture, and it is not too sweet 💕
T. N.
Tasty Korean dessert you have to try
b.
Not bad
A.
Lovely staff, but strange ice cream flavors. Will take a bit getting used to. I will review again after I've visited again.
M. C.
It looks very cute and the taste is very special.
L. J.
The ice cream was so cute and staff were really nice the food tasted amazing I would definitely come back and recommend to others
C. Y.
Outstanding individualised service, good environment, dessert meets expectation.
M. N.
Definitely a cute aesthetic but the desserts just weren’t that amazing
R. Y.
It's ok. The houjicha latte was lacking flavour. The soft ice is good 🍦 I'd get that if I go back.
R. C.
Simple and bland. Overly hyped. Not quite exciting to come back as a regular. It's literally just shaved ice with googly eyes.
Service staff however was good. Friendly and helpful
Z. Z.
Nice desert restaurant food and service was delicous and they are very welcoming will be going back. Order the waffle set its very tasty
F. F. B.
Super tasty dessert
G. W.
It is cute packaging is great. but the most disappointing thing is actually the product. This shop is made for social media.
K. M.
Super adorable and cute. Would recommend you come and try. It atmosphere is also very nice however the prices are a little on the expensive side.

(Translated) I visited Burwood when it first opened. The food is very fresh. The matcha smoothies and sesame smoothies are delicious. The matcha is slightly bitter, which I like. I went there again in March this year. The shop was quite deserted, one or two tables, and the other table was very noisy and very loud.

Burwood刚开业时去过,食物很新鲜,抹茶冰沙和芝麻冰沙很好吃,抹茶是我喜欢的微苦。今年3月又去过一次,店内冷清很多,一两桌,另外一桌很吵,声音很大。

(Translated) Visited about 3 times.. The ice cream was mediocre, but the experience was fresh
Anyway, it seems to be closing soon, sorry
