Great American BBQ! Food is tasty (and not oily!) and their portion sizes are great for what you pay. Highlights were their fried chicken and their onion rings. I'll definitely be back here one day to try more of their dishes!

I also love their wings, which taste as good as the ones I love from the States.

Okay, first time here, just had a platter with 2 meats, damn that was huge! But the reason I'm leaving this review is because the quality and value was amazing! Great service as well, definitely coming back to check out rest of the menu!

Nice clean store. Good service. Good looking menu. Ordered the nachos and found it to be slightly bitter. Cheese sauce was truly a sauce, meaning, it lacked that take cheese taste. We also ordered the Royale, same cheese sauce a bit much. I think it must have been an off night. The brisket looks great. I'll give it another shot because I think it has promise: they have a real bbq grill. Photos of nachos doesn't do it justice as it is really well presented. Looks like the photos they have.

The Philly burger was great. Service was great, but 2 stars lost for the platter. It seemed expensive for the serving size, the meat was really good, however it arrived warm, so no where near warm or hot enough. Colslaw had no sauce and the chips were also overcooked. This didn't bother be too much though. If the price/serving ratio is improved and food served hot I'd definitely come back.

Best burgers I’ve had in a long time! The meat was so tender and juicy. Only negative, the server lady was so depressing, she did not want to be there at all, just giving one word answers and pointing to the menu. She even forgot our burger but it’s all good the flavours made up for her bad service. I would of given it 5 stars otherwise. .

Used to get takeaway quite frequently here as they had some pretty good Street Eats options under $20, like the Texan, offering a good mix of meat and sides. Nowadays they seem to focus on more Mexican inspired cuisine which, in theory, is fine, but you've got Mad Mex about 20 metres away which offers pretty much the same things except for cheaper. It's pretty difficult to find anything worth buying if you're eating alone, as a single burger could cost up to $18 without any sides or a drink. I understand that for a business to be continuously successful it needs to adapt and evolve over time, but with a constantly changing menu and the removal of "budget" meal options under the $20 mark, it's hard to find a reason to come and eat here alone.

Nice burgers. Had a bit of chewy something in the patty, like cartilage or tendon or whatever. It was in a few bits of the burger so it's not a one off thing. Apart from that has a nice tangy American burger feel.

Located in the Pacific Square food court, this place is really good! If more than 1 person, then you should definitely go for the platter. Highly recommend the pork belly. The beef rib was nice but not sure if it justifies the price tag. Fries were great and bbq and blue cheese dips are the ones to go for!

This place was really good 6 months ago. Hence why I’m leaving a reasonable review based on all the times I’ve eaten here. Menu has been downgraded, and seen a considerable price change. No more street eats boxes for under $20, less options, and the quality has declined. Can’t see how 1 person could eat here now. Looking at the penrith restaurant, it’s not been well received at all. Maroubra is relying on it’s old reviews and customers. I can only thing the business was sold in an attempt to franchise off new restaurants. Owners should seriously consider all the recent feedback, because you had something good going on. I’ve stopped eating here and recommending the place. If I see improvements over the next 6 months I’d be happy to change my review.

The short rib was rich and smoky, the brisket was juicy and well seasoned, the cheese and jalapeño hot links were snappy and flavoursome — 5 stars across the board! Pork belly was impressive, and almost melt in your mouth, brisket was quite disappointing as that was my main reason I went, came cold and dry and not tender, pulled pork was fine. Omg, the meat just fall off the bone and melted in my mouth. I shared a platter of pork belly and short ribs. We have to pay additional $19 for ribs which is a bit ridiculous & they should not have included that in the platter if that's the case. But Imma be forgiving coz the meat was that good. Portion wise, For a total of $50+, could have been more because we only get 2 boned-in short ribs& 3 slices of pork belly. Also, a bit disappointed that they have oil supply problem so wasn't able to get the fried sides. I found the slaw so bitter but then i never really like slaw. Sauces were good. Overall, would have been perfect if price were reduced for the portion & no oil supply probs. But it was a good meat treat for 2 carnivorous girls. Staff were nice too.

I came to Sydney for a work trip from Melbourne and I just had to come to this place and try out that Ribby McRibface burger. I originally saw it on a YouTube video and was destined to visit. It was bloody sensational. I rarely use that word. Sensational! It was tender and juicy on the inside and nice and crisp, full of colour on the outside. I also ordered the BBQ Bowl with Pork Belly and slaw and it was awesome as well, a little bit too much onion but that's up to the individual. I should've gotten a platter but will have to visit again before I go home. Service was good too. Feel bad for the 2 blokes working in there though. Its hot AF and humid but that McRibface ain't gonna cook itself. Will you be opening a store in Melbourne? It'll be a real hit I reckon!

She didn’t seem to understand how promotion programs from EatClub work and tried to put the blame on me while she made a mistake on pricing. The setting is pretty simple but the food is sensational, I love the burgers at Smoky Sue’s. I had the special of the month “Porkanator” that has smoked pork belly, bacon, lettuce, pickles and cheese topped with aioli sauce, juicy, delicious and very filling with chips made a great dinner. Next time I will have Ribby McRibface which is very popular also. Staff were wonderful great customer service, full complement to “Chef Vincent” for cooking such great burgers.

Best bbq in Sydney and not afraid to say it! I didn't really know what to expect before going but I was very very impressed. The pitmaster was a great dude and gave us a taste tester as I walked in which is how alot of the top places in Texas do it. The menu is big and has something for everyone's tastes. One cool thing is they have their smoker inside too which you don't see often. I had a platter which was massive and my partner and I couldn't finish so took it home. The platter had three meats which was brisket, pork belly and fried chicken and all were amazing. My fav was the brisket. My mate had the burger of the month which was massive and he said tasted really good (8/10 he scored it). Proper American style bbq is hard to find In Sydney. It's easy to find average but not top quality like this. Hat off to you guys you are killing it, see you soon!

Smoky Sue’s was well worth the 3 mile walk that we made from our hotel. The staff was chill, accommodating, and very friendly. The meats were well seasoned and flavorful and even though the meats didn’t need it, the house BBQ sauce was on point. We would definitely return another day.

Had dinner at the restaurant filled with expectation of juicy briskets and crispy meat burnt ends. Unfortunately, I couldn't help feeling underwhelmed. Brisket was juicy but cold..... As if it was out of the BBQ oven for a while. From photo below, the 3 slices of brisket, sweet potato wedges and BBQ sauce (not shown) was $26.50. The fried chicken bowl with salad and chips had a soggy fried chicken ($15) I think the portion/value missed the mark for the brisket. Some work ahead with fried chicken. Hope they can tweak their offering. Won't be going back there anytime soon. Still craving for American BBQ done right and at the right price.

Great quality burgers and I love the sous vide cooking method on them. It's super tender and juicy meat. The chips were nice, crispy in the outside and soft inside. Paid 71$ for 2 burgers with a side and a beer each. But it worth the price. After half way, you are already full and struggle to finish. I'll be back!

The brisket you getting from your butcher is too dry, too lean. Brisket suppose to melt in your mouth if you get it right. It lacks smoky flavour too, what a shame. Fantastic bbq - has the brisket, slaw and mac ‘n cheese croquettes (mac bombs), philly burger and beef rib burger. The brisket was tremendous, the slaw is not mayonnaise-based, which is great, as it’s acidity is the perfect partner to fatty rich meats. I search endlessly for a decent Philly cheesesteak in Sydney and this was the best to date (and I’ve been searching for years). The Ribby was delicious and physically impressive. But we both agreed the philly was tastier. We’ll be back with the whole fam to try more of the meats and the wings!

I was left feeling rather disappointed following my mid week trip to Smoky Sues. I had waited so long to try it out, maybe I had over hyped it in my mind. On a Wednesday evening we turned up to an almost empty restaurant and was greeted with a decidedly lukewarm reception. Then we were asked if we had a booking, we hadn't, and we got seated in a rather awkward location between the two parts of the seating areas. I assumed the raft of empty tables were for bookings. They weren't. I went for the premium option, which was not worth the $29 I paid for it. And it looked nothing like the Ribby McRibface advertised in a picture above the counter. The best part of the meal was probably the mac and cheese bombs. A bit of a damp squib.

Polite and efficient counter staff. Wait time was around 5 minutes, so it was great. If it was gonna be 1.5hrs wait, I would’ve canx it. Food wise: Burger McRib was yummy, fat and juicy but lacked the smoke flavour. Had a 2 meat box, both Brisket. What can I say, the brisket was ok, not tasty, no smoke flavour…meh. Good that it wasn’t dry like Black Bear’s in Blktn. The youtube video is super hyped. In actuality is not close, so standard’s not quite there. Overall, I would go again for the McRib (big/expensive) burger so I can share with my wife…that’s it. Otherwise I can do better in my ol’ Weber. This was what I experienced there.

Overall a pretty good place, the beef brisket though, was really dry - the only thing that really wow-ed me was the Ribby Mcribface (the burger) and the beef ribs. The other meats we ordered weren't juicy, but rather tough and dry - but only some of them - which points out inconsistencies. Didn't taste a very smokey flavor either - I was expecting more of that.

If i review the burgers purely compared to other burger places they were pretty good, the meat was really juicy and tender but the servings weren't as generous as pictured on their website or pics in the restaurant . If we're comparing it to other barbecue places like Black Betty, Surleys or even referring to their name Smoky Sues.... Where was the smokey, Sue? I get they sous vide the meat first but that may be the very reason it doesn't have the smokey flavour you expect from BBQ.

My wife and I shared the Sue's Platter and it was terrific. Everything was spot on, from the brisket to the links to the pork belly, it was all juicy, tendy and flavoursome. The fries were fantastic, the slaw was quite good, and the sauce was rich and sweet. We also had a side of mac bombs - we'd prefer our mac and cheese served normally, but they were ok without being great. Overall it was an excellent dining experience somewhat slightly diminished by the fact that the shop is more of a cafe in a food court than a restaurant. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Smoky Sues sets the mark for delicious, smokey, and juicy bbq in sydney. After trying their brisket and short rib, they prove they earned the title of "Juiciest Bbq", the brisket was perfectly tender and had amazing flavour but the star of the show is the short rib. Intense meat flavour in every bite that leaves you craving more, a solid bark on top and although my rib was alittle more done than id like it to be, it is in my top 3. The stores atmosphere is great, with a variety of neon signs and framed catchphrases such as "if it moves, smoke it" which add to the feel of the store. The staff are friendly, and the service was impressively quick. I especially enjoyed the "Smoky Sues Bbq Sauce", had a very distinct taste compared to most ive tried, paired well with the meat. All in all 5/5, easily the best place in sydney to get your BBQ fix. Highly recommend.

Smoky sue is delicious. We have been their for the first time, last Sunday, really close to the closing time, which was different on a public holiday. Ordered Sue's platter + fried chicken, for the price I was expecting a bit more generous serving. Beef brisket and pork belly were tender - melt in mouth, but, the smoke was very subtle and was expecting more flavour from the rub. The surprising item was the sausage, wasn't expecting that to be a flavour bomb. Pickles were good though, should've ask for extra; but not a big fan of the coleslaw. Juicy chicken breast, but can be a bit more "kickin" as southern chicken should be.

Then ordered a short rib and was asked if I wanted a combo with the short rib but got charged separately for each item in the combo. Apparently the combo doesn't count for the meat selection - doesn't quite make sense to me. They were however good about it and refunded the difference. Food was okay - definitely not outstanding enough to make me want to go back. The meat was lacking smokiness. Portion size was very average for the price. Overall I think the price point and value for money are a bit off. Would come back if they had better combo deals...

Very happy. My mum’s first foray into Texas style BBQ and if she’s impressed, you know it’s good stuff. Prices are good. Other places charge $25 for a beef rib so to get that on our platter for only $8 extra was amazing. 2 things, I would add an acidic note to the salsa not only to liven it up but also to cut through the proteins (maybe even on the side as an option?) And the brisket was ever so slightly under cooked for me. I know it’s hard to get right each time but hopefully it melts in the mouth next time we’re there. Having said that, both the leftover brisket and the rib we took home were sensational on a sandwich 2-3 days after. Keep up the good work and we shall be back!

Better off paying for the larger portion as once you start you can't stop. For the meat platter, you can choose from a total selection of 8 meats with the combos being 2 meats + 1 side, 3 meats + 2 sides or 4 meats + 3 sides. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the beef and pork ribs, but the other meats we had were still tender and delicious. Overall a great casual restaurant which I plan on eating at again to try the rest of the meats and burgers.

They also charge 3x the cost of your average bbq platter in the States (yes I converted the currency). I’m happy to pay a premium for great food, but this was not great. Won’t be returning.
