Update 18Mar22: went for a work function and had a great time. Service was magnificent and food was outstanding. I particularly liked the sashimi and the lamb. Cocktails seemed awesome as well though I didn't have any.

The Butler never disappoints! A beautiful ambience, with upstairs and downstairs seating for groups of all sizes. I’ve enjoyed dinner on the outdoor landing with city views, and on my recent visit enjoyed cocktails and dessert (the divine chocolate mousse) on the upper landing with the night lights. The place can get very busy so definitely recommend booking on weekends or for groups of larger than two 🥰

Very chill vibes, great for a cute date with friends or a significant other. Service was spot on, they were very attentive and was able to give some recommendations especially if it’s your first time there. They explain the menu and let’s you know about the specials with the price. Food was more on a sharing type experience. Drinks were lovely as they had cute little details on the drinks. The outside has a lovely view as well when referring to seating.

I was in Sydney for a short trip last weekend and my best friend brought me to The Butler as he said the view was beautiful there. The view was beautiful day and night. Not only the view, the service from Alex (our waiter) was great and the food was delicious. Before I travelled to Sydney, I emailed the restuarant and asked for a little favour. Roxy, the Event Manager replied to me and was happy to arrange a little surprise for my best friend who didn't get to celebrate his 50th birthday last Oct due to Covid. When Alex brought the dessert out with the candle, my best friend was so surprised lol. Mission accomplished. We had a great and memorable night. Thank you for everything!

Venue is lovely, from the vibrantly painted entrance and relaxed decor and colour palette that screams, 'take pics of me!' Even the menu is pretty! Great atmosphere on the terrace with a sweeping view of Sydney skyline. Service was great, we were served by Graham who communicated clearly about seating times and answered our questions about the food and drinks. He talked us through recommendations on the cocktail menu too and was attentive throughout. Kingfish ceviche and scallops were good but the cauliflower and corn dishes were the standout. Delicious! The pork tacos were tasty, meat was tender but was a just a bit dry on this occasion. Would definitely go back again and again. Thank you to the team at The Butler! Took some pics late arvo when it had quietened down and most people were seated on the terrace.

We thoroughly enjoyed sharing an exquisite selection of the delicious Ibero-American cuisine. The warmth of the beautifully balanced spices was the perfect antidote for the cool of the champagne. Celebrated a friend's birthday here, perfect for the occasion. We chose the banquet and the portions were generous and menu varied, comfort staples with a good twist. The service was great from entry and wait staff. Highly recommended getting a table on the balcony around sunset, views of the Sydney CBD skyline over the Domain are phenomenal. Forgot to take many pictures but pictured are the tacos that came through midway, we had three varieties.

Wonderful service and lovely food flavours. Would have given 5 stars but some of the dishes were very salty for us; but everyone is different with their salt taste. We loved the oysters with tigre de leche but the dish of the night was the kingfish crudo - magnificent!! Very nice overall and have to give a call out to Rose. Her service was awesome - friendly & professional. Thank you. 👍 March 19, '22 - our 2nd visit and soooo much less salt. Every dish was wonderful. Kingfish crudo again, salmon ceviche, oysters again, chorizo gnocchi, pan seared scallops. What a fantastic place! I went on a Sunday afternoon, very chilled vibes, quiet and amazing city view. Try to stay on the balcony if you can. I felt I was somewhere in South America on holidays. Food was delicious too, especially the ceviche was pretty good. The only thing not great was the scallops. They were tasting too ocean for me. The cocktails were also great with many options to choose. Overall great experience.

First of all, our server was really lovely and attentive throughout the whole night. We went on Valentine’s Day which we understand is a typically busy night for restaurants. Even though we understood these circumstances, the delivery time for the food was extremely slow and we had to ask several times where our food was after waiting for up to an hour between courses. When it was time to pay, they also charged us extra for things we had not received and took another 15 minutes to get back to us. In all, it was an overall disappointing experience.

I’ve been for the first time few days ago with my family visiting me from overseas and we had a great time. It was a clear night and the view of the city was just amazing. The food was really tasty and the staff welcoming and nice. I would highly recommend it!! If you book online, make sure you are on the terrace :) Will be definitely coming back soon!

The food was excellent. All courses had such wonderful flavour and were cooked superbly The service was also very good . The only area to improve is the wine list which was quite ordinary . No wines of any old age . Another suggestion would be to make patrons walking into the restaurant wear masks until they sit down . However we were delighted with the food

Beautiful spot for a restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely with a tropical feel with awesome city views. The food was very good. The banquet menu looked good but didn’t get to try it. Will do so next time. Perfect for a date or something casual with friends. Not wheelchair or pram friendly though as access to the main dining area is down some stairs leading to the back of the restaurant. Apart from that, it’s definitely worth visiting.

The view was amazing! Food very nice and big portions. Cocktails were amazing however the only downside was customer service. The waiters were but rude and rushing us to leave as they kept reminding us that we only had 2 hrs and towards the end of our 2 hrs the waiter was like sorry guys you only have 15 mins left and we can’t offer you dessert if you can just leave as quick as possible because we have to clean the table.

Lucky to be able to book a table on the same day. Server was attentive, cocktail and food are pretty good too. Especially the scallop, that was a big portion and the sauce was tasty. One down side was didn’t get informed they serve Pepsi not Coca Cola as I ordered rum n Coke for 2nd round of drink, the drink tasted different but I only found out when I pay so didn’t ask for an exchange. Overall quite nice atmosphere for a date night or hang out with friends.

Wow! We came in for dinner yesterday, and it would be an understatement to say that im in love with this place. Very unique menu but made to perfection. Great service, friendly staff and love love the ambience. You get lovely city view from all areas (indoor/outdoor). It is a bit pricy but really every penny is worth spending here.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch on the balcony. The setting with it's beautiful and tranquil outlook from Potts Point to the city is a city skyline perspective not often viewed of Sydney. Latino inspired menu with good choices for sharing (would have liked a chicken main option in addition to their great selection). Very tasty tacos as appetizers, and mains are decent portions for sharing. Impressive panna cotta for dessert. A pretty setting with fab food topped off by beautiful, friendly service; from the greeting from the charming and professional man and lovely table service from team members that looked after us for our visit. Beautiful views, great food and good service. The let down for me was that two of the mains our table ordered came out 40 minutes after the rest of my table’s mains were served. I’m sorry, but for me, that’s an unacceptable length of time when the other 3 mains came out on time and we were ready for dessert even before the other two mains were ready.

Dining at this restaurant was an absolute delightful experience. Their dishes were a collection of exotic fusion of South American cuisine with a foundation of Mexican cuisine with the tacos. Each dish was crafted with such attention to detail in presentation, texture and flavor. You are definitely paying for what you get! They also do really amazing unique cocktails, all of them are super tasty. PSA for EVERYONE to try their dessert. It was mind blowingly good especially their pana cotta. Would for sure come back for their dessert. Service was also top notch!

Had a slight hiccup when we realised that if we ordered a la carte - everything (entrees and mains) would arrive at once - but it didn't matter because we were all so amazed at the quality of the food and the fresh different taste sensations. Dinner this evening was quite delightful. Terrace seating looking at the Sydney skyline provided a cozy and sophisticated ambiance that is otherwise scarcely found. The Barramundi was beautifully cooked with a scrumptious crispy skin and we enjoyed in particular the charred corn with shredded ricotta and chipotle/cheese drizzled nachos. Perhaps a little on the pricier side but the whole experience was justifiable. Service was efficient and to a high standard. Would come back again.

I asked for a table on the deck for my daughters birthday & it was centred perfectly so we may enjoy the view. This is my third visit & as a local becoming one of my favourite restaurants. Spectacular view with a classy atmosphere overlooking Sydney’s superb skylines. The Butlers pantry is a hidden gem. Try booking an outdoor table especially during sunset. People with disabilities or wheel chairs may struggle to get up to the top level as it won’t be easily accessible (stairs only). Dietary requirements are marked on the menu. Here you’ll receive impeccable service by staff matched by absolutely divine yet creative food. Food presentation & detail is phenomenal. You won’t appreciate it until you actually try it. Prices are moderately expensive & there is a 2hr time limit, staff will remind you if you forget. Highly recommended & will definitely be back.

I was really impressed with this place! We got the banquet and was stuffed by the end. Beautiful layout and the fish entree were delicious! Stunning city view and the restaurant is sitting in a quiet neighborhood. Food is good and staff are friendly. We were sitting in the terrace and there are many plants which makes it an urban oasis. But! There’re many mosquitos or whatever bugs. Both of my partner and myself got bitten on legs and arms, which was quite itchy and we had to finish dishes quickly…

Went here on the weekend for my birthday, absolutely stunning venue and amazing cocktails and all of the staff were super kind, attentive and just lovely. Just one thing that didn’t really sit with my guests and I right ….we came for cocktails and were just ordering food and drinks as we went ….we were told that we were not allowed to do this and that we had to make one big order cause otherwise it makes it difficult during busier times. (We were there at 5pm and many tables were vacant around us). Not only did this put us on the spot to order but it also turned us off ordering anything further. We felt like we had been told we are annoying the staff and were like wow we’re at a restaurant but we’re not allowed to order anything. The waiters delivery felt abrupt and it was abit rude, so we just continued ordering drinks and choose to take our dining business else where.

A tropical oasis in Potts Point! As you step through onto the terrace you are greeted with a gleaming & gorgeous city skyline & the squawks of cockatoos take you somewhere almost jungle like. We decided to treat ourselves & end the year on a classy & distinguished high to The Butlers NYE 8 course Banquet Degustation & drinks package & it was just exceptional; head chef Amber Doig delighted our tastebuds for the special occasion with Iberian, Oaxaca & Yucatan delights. Every dish was light, flavourful, wholesome & fresh; a beautiful mix of seafood & meat dishes. The total stand outs for us was the Hiramasa Kingfish & the decadent Scampi Gnocchi with a spiced chorizo & cognac cream - Yummo! From the moment we walked in up until midnight & official close the Staff were nothing but accommodating & friendly, Graham especially was exceptionally helpful ensuring we were well fed, watered & happy throughout the night. Seriously what a way to bring in the New Year. We will definitely be back to try their original menu on any other day just so we can be swept back up in it all again. Thanks The Butler for having us!

Came here with 2 of my Girlfriends on a Friday night, we had no trouble making the booking earlier in the week. The ambience is stunning and the place has character. The only let down for me personally was the food which tasted very average, no wow factor whatsoever even though the menu makes you think you’re in for a good ride. My recommendation to the Restaurant is to give the dishes more flavour or lower the prices because $52 for the Wagyu was a waste of money to me. I’m giving a 4 star review because this place has potential.

We sat outside and the view of the city was gorgeous. Definitely try the dessert even though you'll surely be very full. The entrees or small serving plates were very generous. Bookings necessary as it get a fairly busy and seating time was limited at 2 hours but servers were extremely pleasant and accommodating and were happy to relocate us so we could try the dessert.

Some of the best customer service I have ever had in Australia. The staff are so attentive and friendly, they were able to seat us on a Saturday at the table we wanted without reservations, and were always there to refill our waters and pick up our empty plates. The food came was also exceptional! It came out so fast and was absolutely delicious. We ordered the empanadas and the vegan eggplants and both were incredible. Will definitely be back to try some of their seafood dishes and cocktails.

Fabulous restaurant with beautiful decor and stunning food & Cocktails. The best seats are definitely on the covered lush-green outdoor patio - wonderful city- skyline views. The menu is an interesting/ creative mix of Iberia and Spanish-American cuisine. The adobo skirt-steak tacos and buttermilk chicken sliders were sensational! The lamb shoulder was so tender and delicious, but the striploin wagyu was the standout main dish. The beets and the smokey egg plant are also worth a mention - so good. The restaurant has a fantastic cocktail menu so definitely allow time for a pre dinner drink. (The bar upstairs by the entrance only have a limited number of cocktails, and they are different/ less interesting) Wonderful evening, highly recommended! Ps: excellent Gluten Free / Coeliac options.

Excellent service and good food. The atmosphere is also perfectly balanced with great view and restaurant ambience. We went there for the Bottomless Lunch. The deal itself is of great value. Each dish came with generous portion especially dessert. The drink without doubt kept pouring in non-stop!! Even better, they didn’t rush us out and even give us the last bottle of champagne just 10 minutes before the deal supposed to end. In addition, they provided us the nice table on the terrace which offers great view as per our request. It is a gorgeous spot to hang out with friends. It is also not too noisy for a good conversation session with friends or with a date.

Wow... what a hidden treasure this place was! Nestled in Potts Point, the entrance doesn’t even remotely elude to the expansive bar and restaurant within. What’s more, it offers a great view of Sydney’s skyline. The food was really tasty, with a definitive Mexican flavour and definitely packed a punch. Service was good, but the drinks menu was the real star. A great beer/wine list and the cocktails were amazing (both in presentation and taste). We were upgraded to a Terrence table and champagne was waiting on arrival. The floor staff were busy but were very fun and attentive. Such wonderful service and the food was excellent (the barramundi was especially delectable!). The view is stunning, even on a rainy evening, and it wasn't too cold out on the terrace as it's well protected from the elements. We were really well looked after by the kind and friendly staff who had great banter. I took my 75 year old mother and we were able to have a relaxed conversation without too much noise or overbearing music. The ambience was really special and made for an intimate and memorable evening.

We arrived without a reservation but managed to grab enoigh seats at the bar downstairs. We ordered a bottle of Rose, and ate half a dozen oysters and half a dozen chicken sliders to begin with. Oysters were amazing and the chicken sliders were delicious. Then we ordered some beets, corn and the 1200g lamb and octopus. The beets and corn matched perfectly with the lamb and the yoghurt sauce for the lamb. The lamb was very succulent. We ordered another bottle of Rose and waited for our octopus. Unfortunately the octopus never came which was understandable as they were practically empty when we arrived and within an hour they were packed and pumping. Nevertheless, the dishes we did receive we thoroughly enjoyed and I'll definately be back to try the octopus. Thank you very much Front of House, Bartenders and everybody behind the scenes in the kitchen!

On a wet Sunday we needed a cheerful, warm, yet classy and inventive restaurant where we could relax, be pampered and satiate our curiosity for new culinary delights. A long way to say that we needed a new take on things restaurant and food. Well, not by chance, but by a little research, we found it. The Butler is somewhat tucked away in a quite part of Pott's Point, overlooking Wooloomooloo docks/pier. It has a marvelous balcony that would be just stunning on a gorgeous blue sky day. However, it was raining and yet it allowed us a glimpse of what could be through its well designed plastic wrap-around. The staff was very attentive (especially Chatanni - One of the very best). The culinary concept is shared plates - small and large - all inventive and daring. A crowning glory are the 3 types of Espresso Martinis. We tried them all. The price is a little on the steep side, but for a special occasion with friends, a new love to impress or one's forever love ... it is worth every penny.

The Butler is one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney and the incredible view is always a hit with interstate visitors, friends from overseas, and locals who need to be reminded of how beautiful their city looks. Matty the General Manager is such a great guy - he’s warm, welcoming and knows the menu like the back of his hand. The food is inspired by Central and South American cuisine (I think...) and everything packs a lot of flavour. Four or five small plates are perfect for two hungry people and everything is designed to be shared. The Butler is a great place for a date night, but you don’t need to an excuse to go. Bon appetit!

We dine in to celebrate our September birthday tonight at the Butler and around 1am the night before I realised that I forgot to mentioned that we are both on Keto diet, which means no sugar minimal carbs. I was a little anxious beforehand as I did not expect anything could be done as the booking was so soon. We arrived on time for dinner and as soon as we were greeted by reception I knew everything is ok as every gesture and movements demonstrated that they are on the ball! However, whilst we were informed it was a 2 hour seating when we sat down, right on 2 hours we were hurried off the table. Also there were other tables that were there before us, which were still seated when we left and those other parties were not asked to leave. One of my most favorite restaurants I've ever been to! It is so unassuming from the street on how big it actually is, and the amazinggg outdoor seating with beautiful views. We ate dinner and watched the sunset over the city. The food was absolutely incredible. We didn't have anything there that we didn't enjoy. Great to go on a date night, or with friends. Wish we lived closer to go more often!

We were here to celebrate our anniversary and the staff arranged a nice spot on the balcony for us with the beautiful city view. Our waiter took time to explain the menu since it was our first time here and made recommendations. We had the lamb barbacoa VIP style, which came with corn tortillas. The lamb was perfectly tender and fell apart with the slightest touch. The tortillas were clearly freshly hand made and delicious, so worth the $8 upgrade. We also had the Kumari (sweet potato) and the charred sweet corn as sides. The Kumari was perfectly crispy and soft and the accompanying sauce was perfect. The charred sweet corn was delicious and just the perfect amount of spicy served on a bed of cheese and chips. We loved every single item we tried and between the two of us we were stuffed by the end of the meal. Every item was unlike anything we had ever tried before and honestly so worth the price. Definitely recommend this place 100%.

It was not a special occasion, we just decided to go for lunch somewhere nice, but it should have been. Everything and I mean everything was perfect! The food , the service, the cocktails, the ambiance..... We were siting inside as the terrace was full, but we still had great view and with the decor and all the greenery it felt as if we were eating in the garden. I particularly liked the colonial style cabinetry and the ceiling fans. The food was amazing!!! The king fish ceviche, the grapefruit cured king salmon with its sauce to die for, soo full of umami and yet not clashing with the delicate flavors of the salmon. And then the lamb shoulder soo soft yet juicy, perfectly balanced flavors with all the dips and corn tortillas on side, and the charred corn on the cob, with corn chips and chipotle dressing, .....and then there were the cocktails masterfully prepared by mixologist Jacob, flavors like: gin, vanilla and lemon myrtle, or jalapeño infused mezcal and smoked chipotle salt for garnish. Man that was something. We didn’t had dessert, but there was only two of us, and the amount of food was probably enough for 4, so T/A container with some leftover lamb and few tortillas was a way to go. It was a great lunch and we will be definitely coming back. Actually my birthday is coming up so perhaps the outside terrace would be a way to go. Thank you! Very satisfied customer!

Reviewed on a very welcome rainy day in Sydney, but The Butler still impressed with outstanding food and service, and while the magnificent views were obscured by the downpour, it was more than made up for by the ambience of this superb restaurant. Ordered the skirt steak tacos, buttermilk chicken sliders, the lamb shoulder, and a selection of cocktails and deserts. All were outstanding. I plan to come back soon on a sunnier afternoon for the full experience overlooking the city of Sydney.

It's unfortunate that you have to go downstairs for a more extensive drinks list, but they don't want to seat you downstairs for drinks only and if you want something from the downstairs menu you need to constantly walk up and down stairs... As you approach the unassuming front doors of The Butler nestled away just a short walk from the station you wonder to yourself “should I have booked this for my Mums birthday dinner” the answer an unequivocal and resounding YES. It’s taken me almost a week to recover from the bliss of eating and drinking at this incredible establishment and find the words to describe the extraordinary experience myself and my family and friends were lucky enough to experience at the hands of such frankly brilliant bar staff, waiters, and chefs. We were greeted warmly and treated like family from the get go. Brilliantly crafted cocktails (try an Amaretto sour or a Monkey 47 Negroni!) we’re whipped up and appeared in our hands before we’d even soaked up the stunning views afforded by our balcony table. The capable and friendly staff ensured we were warm enough and delivered water and menus soon after and the selection was fantastic. We opted for the banquet and by god was it delicious and delectable. From start to finish the food, atmosphere, drinks, and attention to detail was perfect. Mum hasn’t stopped raving to all her friends, and I haven’t had an experience quite like it anywhere in Sydney. If you want to impress, or even if you simply want to enjoy a quiet drink and a bite to eat this venue has it all and does it with such aplomb you’ll swear you’ve discovered what it feels like to dine as royalty does. I can’t thank everyone at the venue enough for making this night one to remember and sealing your fate for future family dinners where will will surely descend upon your beautiful restaurant again and again. I’d give 6 stars if I could!

The Butler was fantastic! My wife and I ate here one night at the suggestion of our Airbnb host. We were so glad we did. We were greeted by friendly host and we're seated quickly even without a reservation. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The cocktails w were all amazing (we tried 4 separate ones between the two of us). The only thing better than the cocktails was the food. Everything was delicious. Thankfully the menu is set up for sharing because I wanted to try it all. The Waygu shin pulled apart so easily and was packed with flavor. If you are in the area (or anywhere close) you should make it a point to go here.

Then, when you walk out into their outside patio area you are struck by the most beautifully framed city view you’ve probably never seen before. It’s a view of the city rarely seen and really gives you a different appreciation for how beautiful Sydney is. All of this on its own would have been enough but then everything else was so exceptional. The cocktails were inventive and tasty, the service was top notch and thoughtful and the food was incredible. I can’t talk up this place enough. From the outside, The Butler is a very unassuming place, situated on Victoria St in Potts Point. But enter, go past the upstairs bar, and descend the stairs and the place really opens up. Clean, spacious, with lots of greenery, there is a lot to like about the Butler. We decided to also have some food, after seeing some of the plates coming out, and the chicken sliders, empanadas, and fries did not disappoint. And part way through, we were told our table had been reserved earlier, and would we mind switching. Well no, we wouldn't, as we got switched to the very front table, with sweeping views of the city. The food and service was impeccable and each dish came out one by one continuously after we'd finish the last one so we weren't left waiting for ages and didn't have all the entrees together. We ordered the lamb shoulder as the main to share, its 1.2kg, slow cooked for 18 hours and just melted in our mouths. We couldn't finish it! We ordered 4 entrees and 2 sides. Thy do recommend less for a couple but we wanted to try a few different things and we were overall impressed. Highly recommended. Request a table outside to enjoy the view while you dine!

I was fully prepared to pay any price for the experience, if it wasn’t for the exaggerated amount, I would not have known. Apparently a table was living ‘la vida loca’ at our expense. Not sure how it happened but it was the only factor that ruined the night. I do not like disputing an item and also not leaving a gratuitous amount as a result, but it is what it is. See you next time I am in town and hope to give you a 5 star rating next time.

So we are investigating nice restaurants and have chosen The Butler after todays visit for drinks . The staff are friendly, the chefs are world class, the cocktail waitress is gorgeous . The views of Sydney are fabulous .We will be back.

This is a review for Juanita's (the upstairs bar portion of The Butler). The drinks menu is interesting and diverse - cocktails in particular. There isn't a lot of seating though (which is to be expected as it's primarily a restaurant). And the layout is fairly pokey. The only area that seems to sit more than 4 is the back countertop, where you'd all be beside each other. The bar area in general feels like a bit of a thoroughfare. Fine for a pre-dinner drink; maybe try elsewhere if you're looking just for a bar with friends to spend an hour or two.

Butlers is quite nice and not bad value. My criticisms are that portions are quite small, share plates really should have enough pieces adjusted for the amount in the group eating. Why bring 4 pieces of corn when there's 5 at the table? Maybe this is a standard issue with share plate eating though. And the timing of everything is not right. Which means you drink more. Which may be deliberate. But it's ok.
