Comments of The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room

I was there on Friday night..
The staff is friendly and work amazingly under pressure.. Perfect for sit in or on the go... Very creative team when it comes to cocktails. I stayed there around 11 pm and stayed there for 30 mn during which the team have not failed in delivering the best cocktails.
Would definitely go back some time soon..

Great for that oyster urge when you have it. Perfect Old Fashions and a great place to just relax in the afternoon. But be prepared it kicks off in the Arvo.
R. N.
Nice menu but they could have more variety on their seafood since it’s an oyster bar. The service was quite slow even though we came on a Sunday morning and it wasn’t busy. The dishes came out so slow; my partner and I were wondering if they forgot about us. The next table that came after us had their dishes already. The dishes we picked were tasty; nothing wrong with them. Unfortunately we couldn’t use our dine n discover vouchers because apparently it’s only valid to them on weekdays even though it states on nsw app that it’s valid 7 days a week including public holidays. Very disappointed coming here; the vibe was very awkward and felt uncomfortable being there.

WOW....what an awesome place! I took my wife, sister & brother in law here for dinner last night and to say the food was amazing is an understatement. It was incredible.
The staff were super friendly and attentive, especially our waitress’Racheal’ she was AWESOME! Kept our glasses full and always had a beaming smile.
Can’t wait to go back.
Cheers
Chris

The Cauliflower popcorn was very fleshy and tasted like chicken. The tartare's mustard was blended in nicely. The standout was crab spaghetti. It was very buttery but not overwhelming.
This was my first time dining here and i am looking forward to visiting again.

Went for the $1.50 oysters and they were amazing. Very fresh, very plump and chilled on ice. We also had the jumbo prawns and duck fat chips which were delicious. The steak tartare had a Mexican-ish flavour of beans and tomato which I didn't love, but everything else I would get again.
K. W.
The pork chop was excellent - well cooked but still juicy, not dry. The fish was also good - again well cooked but juicy not dry.
R. S.
Went with a group of 8 friends on Wednesdays. Welcoming and good service however very overpriced compared to other similar dining places. Paid $50 for some oysters and sharing a cheese plate between 8. They add 10% on-top of the bill for a larger group but don't add more service than they would a smaller table to justify $55 on-top of our bill. Money goes much further at even more established restaurants.
B. M.
We dropped in for a cold beer and we ended staying for lunch. They have the best traditional prawn cocktail! And a very good duck liver parfait and great duck fat chips. The staff were lovely and the location is great. We will definitely be going back for a proper long lunch!!
R. N.
Went here for dinner with my son and hubby to celebrate my husband's birthday. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The oysters were fresh as! The crispy skin trout I ordered was true to its description - crispy skin! The Japanese flavour in the dish was really good. Loved the parmesan cabbage side salad we ordered. Duck fat chips and fish were classic, chips really crispy. Crab linguine was buttery delicious, too. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes on their menu. Good customer service and nice atmosphere.
M. W.
Great service, awesome food. They have grass fed steaks also fresh Oysters. For the rush hours, if you can not get seated at the table. You could pick seats at the bar or high chairs around the bar area, which they have the same menus.
T. M.
The food is really good. Really good. The kingfish ceviche was the best. The oysters were clean and taste great. The burger and the fries (awesome fries) were good. However, the service is horrible. The servers messed up our order and when we asked about it they looked at us crazy. It was very busy on Friday evening. Confirm before going that food service is still available after 10 pm, we arrived at 9:25, and was able to order food.
A. L.
I had recently gone to The Morrison’s Oyster Bar to celebrate my birthday which happened to be on a Wednesday which means...... $1.50 oysters! This wasn’t my first time here, I decided to come back because their oysters are fresh and delicious but was kinda disappointed to find out their happy hour deal only served one type of oyster! Nonetheless, it was still tasty.
Their website says walk ins only (for happy hour) but when we got there, there were tables reserved so I guess I’d suggest to make a booking if you can as it gets packed really quickly (esp on Wednesday’s). Had a few beers too and staff were great.
M. C.
$1 oyster Wednesday. Definitely a steal and they're freshly shuckled. Aside from that, you got a nice selection of beer, drinks and cocktails. Half the place is a standing bar area, and the other half is restaurant and dining in a comfortable atmosphere. The layout might be a bit confusing as first when you're aiming for the restroom, but you'll get there. (Top floor, keep going up)

While some of Sydney spends May getting better acquainted with vegetables as part of an initiative called No Meat May, The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room is luring in confirmed carnivores with Pork-A-Palooza. Running until May 23, this month-long carnival of pig celebrates all that is superb about swine. It’s an all-budget affair that offers up plenty of different ways to get some Australian pork on your fork.
At the bottom end of the spend, there’s dollar dogs every Tuesday night between 6-7pm. The tasty hot dogs take a top-notch smoked pork snag and wrap it white bread that’s kept pillowy soft by cutting off the crusts. Drizzled with a super-creamy habanero mayo. it’s a gently spicy, three-bite eat that’ll leave you wanting more.
With Executive Chef Sean Connolly nominating bacon as his own personal panacea, it should be unsurprising to find the bar offering up a bacon-washed Bulleit Bourbon Hog Fashioned ($18). Flavoured with maple syrup and chocolate bitters, this enjoyable riff on the Old Fashioned is likely to cure all that ails you. Prosciutto-washed bourbon is slightly less evident in Don Melon Ham ($18), which takes on an orange tinge with Aperol and rockmelon. Amp up your bacon cure by slurping a couple of barside Oyster Kilpatrick ($5/each) before moving to a dining table for the rest of your porky feast.
While the special event menu offers up everything from pork burgers to pork schnitzel, each item has been given a special Sean Connolly twist. Connolly draws upon his English heritage for his Chilled Pigs Head Terrine ($24) accompanying the tasty pink slab with a sharp house-made piccalilli and buttered toast. While eyeing off the Double Bacon Chops ($36) cooked in a mushroom and crème fraiche ragout, we were lured into this experience on the promise of Suckling Pig ($360/half, $680/whole).
By whole or half, this is one experience you’ll need to share with friends, many friends; though it would be prudent to choose those who are comfortable knowing where their meat comes from. The slow cooked pig – massaged for tenderness then popped into the oven at lunchtime – is presented on a board that was bigger than our table for four. Our slightly nervous waiter – this is his first whole suckling pig – breaks it down at the table, starting with the head (which, by the way, contains some of the tastiest meat).
With Head Chef Martino Pulito watching on, he takes off the trotters, before being relieved of his duty as the chef makes short work of cutting up the rest of the body. Padded with super tender slabs of pork loin, the ribs are a great place to get started on your porcine feast. Along with roasted spuds and sweet onions, it’s accompanied by five different sauces running from a gentle habanero aioli to salsa verde, chimichurri and a more traditional apple sauce made using James Squire Orchard Crush Apple Cider. For me it's the aioli and the apple sauce all the way, though I did wish for something more spicy.
Meanwhile, Pulito keeps on chopping, and our second platter of pig arrives piled high with trotters and head. Punctuating pig with sips of 2015 Domaine De La Poultiere Tuffo Vouvray Sec Chenin Blanc ($73/bottle) we’re dedicated but defeated by the sheer amount of swine. My only complaint: the ears were the only place I saw proper crackling on this tender baby pig, and - for the price - the whole meal could do with some greens. However, what I was very happy about, was that the kitchen happily packed up the remainders, which fed us at home for another two amazing nights. While I make no pretence about still eating meat, I hate being wasteful with animal products.
With sharply puckered lips, I have to recommend the Lemon Tart Brulee ($14) as an excellent way to strip any remaining pork from your palate. Full of swine, Bruichladdich Classic Laddie Whiskey ($16/glass) and good cheer, I’m inclined to say it’s the best lemon tart in town. Happy Pork-A-Palooza!
S. P.
Atmosphere was good food was delicious just wish charcuterie entree came with more than 2 tiny slices of bread as a share platter.
S. A.
Thanks to The Morrison and their beautiful staff that made our anniversary so special. Many thanks and best wishes for the festive season. Great food great experience.
J. B.
The food is delicious but the portion sizes and the prices of the dishes are quite disproportional (i.e. many of the dishes feel over priced). With that said their crab dishes during their Crab Carnival month are great tasting so if seafood is your thing and you don't mind spending a fair amount, give this place a try.
D. L.
Great for after work dinner on a weeknight. We had the oysters and a steak with wine – decently priced. Had a great night overall.
J. L.
Good value when they do $1 oysters (in the unit of dozens), expect long queue and minimal service. Food and drinks are pretty good but small portions. Friendly staff but they are so busy running around, hats down to them!
E. S.
As far as pubs go The Morrison is at the top of the spectrum. A raw yet refined interior sets the tone. This mood continues in their food, simple stuff done to perfection. The baby barramundi, coal charred , sprinkled in chilli is fresh, delicate and tasty. The green goddess sauce seals the deal and provides an abundance of rich decadence to pile onto the soft flesh. I tried my friends crab linguini, perfect balance between lemon and cream in the sauce and stacked with crab meat. Service is charming and professional. Pricing is up there for pub food but really this is a restaurant disguised as a pub with all the charm of a pub.
R. H.
I stopped in here for lunch on a recommendation for some oysters. Excellent atmosphere and food.
They had three different types of oysters at $4.50 Australian each
B. C.
Maple Fashion, very tasty cocktail, a careful balance of flavours. Oyster selection was excellent and prepared with care. Friendly staff, looking forward to returning here to experience more of the cocktails and food.
V. M.
Mate and I went over and were impressed by the place and quality of food.
We ordered Sirloin and Eye fillet (picture below), they tasted simply awesome. It was easily one of the best stake we had in a while, it was Shame though the cooking preferences of the stakes were mixed up. The full bodied Shiraz paired nicely with the stakes. We would highly recommend the place for anyone looking for quality stakes in Sydney.
M. G.
One of the best dinners I’ve had in a long time. Market fish was fantastic. Sides and salads had the best produce, really simple but amazing dressing.
Service was great - Arno looked after us really well and the wait staff made excellent recommendations and could tell they actually enjoyed the food also.
Perfect for a midweek dinner without breaking the bank. Left feeling great.
Can’t wait to go back.
N. S.
Such a great atmosphere, with amazing food, drinks and wonderful staff, David at the bar is a great personality and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the wines being served. Definitely a must if your in the CBD for a great snack, lunch, dinner or just a drink!
D. F.
Group of 4 on a Friday each ordered the same Pasta. Each pasta dish dressed differently? Also over priced for the quality. May try again in a few months……will update then.
B. C.
Loved the ambiance and the food
Y. G.
The oyster for the festival is delicious for sure and the signature cocktail is recommended but the wagyu rump was a disappointment with bitter taste. They changed to linguine with crab meat, which is fresh but not creamy enough. Overall, the highlights are the oyster and drinks.
S. P.
The service was great. The food was okay. The steak is over cooked and there is no offer for any kind of sauce. It was advertised as French style but totally not. French steak should come with sauce. Like Manu always asked "where is the sauce?". As a result, the steak was completely dry and unenjoyable.
Z. C.
Love the new menu, my steak was cooked to perfection. Service is exceptional especially Melodie and Emily.
g. b.
One of the best burgers in town. Had a short time for a quick bite so grabbed the Morrison Burger. One of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Came with Duck Fat chips which were insanely good. Quick, professional, knowledgeable and friendly service topped off my quick meal.. Will be back when I have more time to get to know this place better.

Food is great. I ordered the crab chili linguini and it was sublime. I've had food all around and I appreciated the subtle chule which brought out the delicate snow crab.
Service was slow. I had to speak up to get someone's attention. Also, please look at the receipt. I only ordered the pasta and was charged for 3 additional items. They apologized about it. I took a photo but travelers just keep mind to keep up with your costs on your own. I would actually go back again (maybe tomorrow). 🙂
D. P.
Good atmosphere on a Friday night but tables are hard to come by unless you reserve one. If you don’t like oysters the food choices are pretty minimal. Service is great and not a long wait at the bar. Downstairs is an indoor smoking area.
A. T.
Always love the $1 oysters here during oysters season. Absolutely loved the delicious pulled duck with Yorkshire pudding with our drinks. Staffs are highly professional and accomodating. I wish the place was a lil more big in size coz it can be too congested in happy and rush hours.
G.
(2018 Review).Famous for its oysters. The public bar has a good choice of burgers. Happy Hour from 1700. The restaurant food is excellent, but the cheapest red wine is $49 per bottle.
(Update Feb 22: Good news is that 4 years on, the cheapest bottle of red is only $50 per bottle).
There is a surcharge for paying by credit card.
C. T.
Just left there and had great $1.50 HH oysters and the Manly Lady. My friend and I also split the fish ‘n chips. Everything was great all around, but my favorite thing at the Morrison was Angus, our bartender. He makes a mean cocktail and is wonderfully meticulous, adding the garnishes and knowing how to make a great martini (never shaken, always stirred). We don’t live in Sydney, but would hope to clone an Angus and have his sort in the States.
D. T.
Gosh I wish I remember what this dish is called but it was so, very good. The pasta was had a lot of bite and it was so, so flavoursome. I came for lunch so didn't have oysters or a drink but wouldn't hesitate to try more of their food.
F. C.
Went on the Wednesday night $1.50 oyster night and was disappointed to learn that you had to order 2 mains with the offer. Mains were ok but wouldn't highly rate them and they were upwards of $30. Oysters were tasty and freshly shucked so appreciated that but all in all an average/ok experience, I won't be hurrying back.
F. J.
Upmarket, very friendly, accommodating, clean and inviting place. Great for corporate or private functions, or just a lunch meeting.
T. N.
Dollar oysters Wednesdays 6-7 sold by half-dozens. Quality-wise decent but nothing to write home about other than to say that they're decent. Not the best-shucked I've seen (lots of grit) and they're pretty small, but then again they ARE just $1 each and I quite like the atmosphere.
Didn't have any full dishes this time but they looked pretty good and I'll probably try some (and hopefully upgrade a star or two) next time.
J. D.
Fantastic venue right in the city, great for after work drinks and a dinner if that's the way the night turns out. Great atmosphere and service too.
N. L.
Went for the $1.5 oysters from 6 pm - 7 pm, which is available for all of August. Get there before 6 pm as there is a long queue for the oysters, however it does move quickly. Tables are free for all as well, but can be hard to find during this hour.
J. W.
Lovely atmosphere and good service. Food was good, but a bit too much oil and could have done with a bit more seasoning. Crab linguini had too much cream and chilli which overpowered the delicate seafood taste. Oysters were the highlight.
K. H.
Delicious food in reasonable price ! Convenient location and comfort indoor and outdoor seats available!
F.
The pasta was a little too greasy for my liking, hard to consume without the pool of oil at the bottom. Sauce on the prawn cocktail is lovely, could use more prawns. The cauliflower popcorn was a massive let down.
Staff are not attentive at all.
K. C.
Nice Oysters here special on Wed night 1.5 each but needs to get two meals first.
S. S.
Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Sydney. The prices were disappointing for the portion however the taste was amazing!
A. H.
Friendly staff, lively atmosphere for a diner on a Friday night! The duck fat fries were very fatty but the naked burger was fulfilling! Maybe a layer of caramelized onion rings will seal it!
R. E.
Our greeting at the door was very welcoming but unfortunately it went a bit downhill from there. I ordered the Crab Linguine and Duck fat fries. Neither of them were any good.
Our orders also didn't come out at the same time and when I told the manager my partner would be ordering in a moment using the dine voucher he was not paying any attention to me which I believe resulted in us ordering at different times and having our meals separately. He was also a tad rude to my partner whilst she was ordering. It was busy so I can kind of understand but a restaurant like this should be able to handle it.
The Crab Linguine wasn't Linguine but rather Spaghetti. It was bland, boring, had hardly any crab and far too much sauce.
The Duck fat chips I was hoping would be the answer to my problems but nopeee. They were like overcooked cardboard with hardly any potato.
My partner luckily ordered a better meal then mine and had the ocean trout which looked good.
I am glad that we only used our dine vouchers as $38 for the Crab Linguine and $12 for the chips would have been outrageous.
I feel as though because they know people are using the vouchers and they are busy that they just aren't on the ball or putting as much love into the cooking, idk...
The vouchers should be a way to get people to come to your restaurant and for you to show off the food so they come back not the other way round just because we aren't technically paying with our own money, we still chose to use our vouchers here.
F. C.
Everything was spot on during our last stop here for a small lunch. As always, we enjoy good quality NSW rock oysters; each with their unique saltiness, creaminess, and flavour. We also enjoyed the beef tartare. BUT the muscles were the star; with a recipe that I have not tried before. Delicious! I will leave to your imagination and to try it.
I.
Food was great. Service was fast and it had great ambience. Also they sold a nice cold pint for a good price.
G. H.
Loved its bustling vibes and $1 oysters every Wednesday. A friend and I ordered 40 between us and we could have had more. Filled with corporate chatter and after-work frivolity it's a talkative place to catch-up.
F. F.
The venue is lovely and modern, and my food was great! Ordered the mushroom gnocchi and the broccolini as a side dish. Delicious!
X. C.
Love the moscow mule. Fried chicken was a bit dry, steak was excellent though! Favorite was the caramalized carrots.
L. K.
Excellent place for after work drinks and a feed. It's usually packed so it would be best to make a reservation. The steak here is fantastic and the happy hour oysters did not disappoint.
M. R.
I really like the aesthetics of this place, good atmosphere with decent beer selections. Underwhelmed by the burger. Maybe the other stuff on the menu is better.
K. L.
Nice food and service. The Oyster was amazing.
R. L.
On Wednesday's they have $1 oysters between 6 and 7pm. They're small but fresh with good flavor. Also had the crabby long legs and the soft shell crab po boys. The po boys were great and the crab legs were okay. Would definitely go back for the oysters.
G. S.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here on a quiet city rainy day. The service was good👍
We loved the Burrata with beets, Ocean trout and Fillet steak...all were spot on.
The duck fat fries were dehydrated, had a burnt taste and were a bit of a disappointment but there were some cracking dishes on the menu that i’d like to get back there and try...
O. C.
The Merimbula Oysters are to die for. The service was a little slow, but the food and ambience was fantastic...!
A. T.
Great for a working lunch. Food and service was excellent. $8 schooner of Kozy is very welcome giving the setting. Had the eye fillet, possibly slight overdone (medium rare not rare) but still excellent.
J. J.
Wow - one of the most spectacular dining experiences I have had the pleasure to have.
From the moment we arrived Gabriel made my friend I feel so welcome.
We started with oysters, both naturel and kilpatrick. They were so incredibly fresh and tasty that we decided to have them twice!
The professionalism of the table service was fantastic and Aryton proved himself to be such an asset to the venue.
The food was unforgettable, coupled with the wines and cocktails which were an absolute delight.
Thank you so much to all for the care and obvious pride in such a wonderful place
Hats off to you all
See you again very soon.
M. J.
Great vibe, good food and friendly staff. $1 oysters for an hour on Wednesdays too!
A. L.
5 star service, perfect Sat nite out... I actually even recommend their house bourbon n cola!
E. F.
On Tuesdays until the 23th on May there is a deal for $1 a hot dog... It is cheap an jummy.
C. L.
Loved the Melbourne cup celebrations at Morrison Bar! Food was really good!
N. S.
Great location, good vibes and music. Oysters were fresh, but the cooked one was too small.
Service was very slow, the price was extremely high for that quality food. The bread was cold, the salad had not enough dressing, we had to ask different people to serve our table. Nobody cleans the table. In general, wasn't a busy night that's why we expected much better service. Hopefully, improve your service in the future.
I. A.
Come with at least 3 other friends and try the wood fire baked Kingfish!! One of the best fish dishes I’ve had in a long time!!
G. N.
Nice convenient location for seafood in CBD area, with great fresh pacific oysters in good value$$.
J. S.
One place I would definitely visit next time I am in Sydney. The food was hot and good. Loved the chicken Kiev.
Cheers
Z. S.
Enjoyed 3 doz incredibly fresh $1 oysters at the Oyster Festival this month. The bar has a great vibe too.
J. M.
Service great, had a French lady as waiter and she was amazing. The Oysters and crab tacos were okay but the rest of the main/sides were a little below average. We asked for medium rare steak and received rare steak, which were too chewy. The sides and sauces were not nice at all.
C.
Really enjoyed dining at this place. The crab linguini was the best I ever tasted. The orange juice was freshly squeezed.
I. C.
Vinny had done you proud as he served us for a long lunch. Great asset to the Morrison's
Food was great. Has a good selection of wines.
Loved the oysters
M. R. H.
I was there on Saturday night. The bartender with the long hair was great and Jason the manager too. So proud of Morrison team. Surely will come back with my friends.
A. K.
Great experience and delicious food to match. Crab linguine recommended and of course the oysters
A. W.
We had our wedding here last weekend and cannot fault a thing! Thank you to everyone especially Andrea and Kellie for such a fabulous evening. We all had such a great time and I’ve heard so many praises from our guests about how great the food and service was.
A. L.
Some friends and I went to lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the Morrison Bar and Oyster Room. The service was fabulous. Congratulations to all but especially Gabriel who looked after us most of the day. We loved the oysters and menu selection for main course and desert. The cocktail selection was also really great to start with. We will definitely be back. Well done and couldn’t recommend more highly.
M. R.
Their Oyster festival is amazing. Fresh and yummy oysters for $1 each. Every year a pleasure. They also have many special events like Superbowl as well as oystertastings.
S. T.
Had their Ocean Trout, absolutely tasty, a must try dish.
N. B.
Such a nice place. Great food, happy hour specials and cheap oysters on wednesdays.
B. A.
Nice place, attitude of the bar server with glasses left a bit to be desired eg: while polishing glasses at the end of the bar “how can I help you” I’d like to order some food and drink please. She replies without approaching the service area “Like I said, how can I help you”.
K. S.
I come here every time I’m in Sydney, which is twice a year from the US. Amazing bartenders, awesome however small, variety of food. You MUST have the oysters and the lollipop fried chicken! Cheers Mate!
J. M.
Great food, good atmosphere and service.
M. G.
Good service but limited happy Hour as advertised
A. D.
Had masterclass with Laura. When we came in she was very polite, professional and was running around making sure we had water, helped us out decorations etc but then as soon as the class started she was full of energy! She was very cheeky and joking around with us and didn’t take it too seriously but it still felt like a class where we were learning.
She told us about the history behind each cocktail and had a funny story about each one. She even jumped up on the tables to get the perfect angle to take photos and videos of us. When she would stand in front of everyone and spoke about the cocktails she was very passionate and she has a very cheeky and entertaining way of talking to everyone. At the end of the class, she was very insistent on checking that everyone had a good time, liked their cocktails and at the end even called for a toast for the bride to be which was very sweet. If you are thinking of booking the masterclass do it! Laura will make sure you have the best time and by the end of it we felt like she had just fit into our group. She was so charming and lovely. Even the venue was so pretty. Our time at the Morrison was amazing and while we had to go, Laura told us about the cocktails available on the menu and we will be back for them!
P. N.
Well this was a shock and a half!! The food here is outstanding - so much choice and so fresh. But the seafood...the oysters...I mean seriously, mind blown. Ask for a mix and they'll tell you about where they're from, the best order to eat them, what you're tasting, and so on. The gigantic sushi platter is also worth a gander. I was seriously impressed, and amazed that I hadn't actually considered The Morrison before. Hit this one up if you're hungry because the food is excellent.
S. C.
The Morrison Bar is a nicely decorated restaurant boasting fresh oysters, main courses and a wide variety of cocktails. I was immediately greeted and shown to my seat. Tables and chairs appeared clean and the ambiance was perfect. Today, my server was Yoan. Although he was not 100% familiar with the drink menu, he did provide some helpful insight when selecting a drink.
Their oysters come perfectly shucked and the server was able to give some of his recommendations. Currently at the time of visit, they cost 4.5 per oyster. The beverage came out in a timely manner and was well crafted. The salad was fresh and had great flavour.
They seemed to have a large beer selection as well as a variety of main dishes (fish, burgers, eat) During certain hours in the afternoon, only a partial menu is available, but oysters are available all day. I would visit this place again.
E. R.
Great happy hour and comfortable space, especially on their oyster Wednesday’s!
s. b.
Great food and service. Best oysters I have ever had (and I have had alot!)
They never let my champagne glass be empty. Really fabulous
B. A. D.
1$ oysters :: can’t beat it and they were delicious! We are coming again tomorrow night! Wish we got more! Happy hour 6-7
Y. M.
Nice bar, good decor and drinks are reasonably priced
A. G.
Pricey but the wedge salad and onion rings were amazing. Burger was just ok
B. J.
Went there for the $1.50 oysters, they were great, very good value for money. Also service was quite amazing, Kevin in particular, was a delight to deal with, great attention and welcomed conversation made him a very nice host. It's not every day you meet such a gentleman, and French-speaking that is. All in all many ingredients for a beautiful night. Well done Morrison 🙂

Visited on a busy Wednesday for happy hour drinks $5 from 5pm then $1 oysters from 6pm....be aware you have to queue to order these and by the time I realised what was happening the queue was already out of the door.....also seats were limited as it is a popular place on a Wednesday due to this offer so best to get in earlier than 6....I am no oyster connoisseur though can say I really enjoyed these, you can pay extra for the vinegarette though they were nice also with just lemon :-)
M. S.
Love the oysters. Less inspiring is the dining room
V. W.
Great food and drinks. Unsure if it is purely due to covid but the service is not what it use to be. Otherwise a great date might spot with good vibes
K. D.
Absolutely amazing food. Fish was beautifully cooked! Wait staff were amazing and huge thank you to Gabriel who not only made us feel welcome and accomodated, he also made suggestions based on what we liked. He was great, place was great. Can't ask for more.
J. M.
An honest experience.
I booked a table for myself and my wife at 6pm during the oyster festival. To take advantage of the $1.50 Oysters. We arrived early and were seated at 5.50pm. We were not seen by anyone untill 6.10. The waitress was lovely and attentive and the oysters were devine. Along with the crab meat and lettuce tacos. My wife went to the bathroom and when she returned informed me that the ladies had no toilet paper. 7 cubicals with no toilet paper. She informed a staff member and left it at that. An hour or so last. More oysters, delicious', oyster sangrita shots, amazing And some fries. All good. My wife goes to the bathroom again. And returns to tell me when she got in there there was still no toilet roll. Along with other women in the bathroom. Not impressed. Told another member of staff. This particular member of staff went and dealt with the problem and came and apologised. Food was amazing, service was not.

I've been here a few times. Each time the food has been good, If a little generic. I actually find the bar menu better than the dinner menu. The pop corn cauliflower is a particular favourite as are the chicken lollipops. They have a good selection of drinks, but I find their whiskey list rather limited. Its always consistent, and in this case, thats a good thing. Overall, I have to recommend this place.
K. E.
A great venue for some nice cocktails, wine, or a beer with some fantastic fresh oysters. The seating space is spacious and service is quick and attentive. I recommend the beef burger -- the chips are delicious, too. It can be a little pricey, but that's standard for standard establishments of this standard.
S. T.
Had lunch here today and really enjoyed it! Food was good: Oysters, squid and prawns all really tasty and fresh! Champagne and service good too, will be back.
L. H.
Always a great spot, whether it's to meet or stay. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and can even whip you up a cocktail that's not on the menu. Great relaxed vibe.
M. A.
Look this place is, in every way, OK! The food is decent, and the drinks are average. I can't think of anything special about this place. The atmosphere is pretty good, but that's really about it.
I would've liked it if the staff understood the menu in a little bit more depth. We asked for a specific drink, which we enjoyed last time, but the waitress was clueless and brought a completely different drink. It was still alright.
H. W.
Came here for some drinks after dinner recently. Staff were very warm and welcoming. Drinks were fairly priced, although it took 15min at one point to order a cocktail and cider. Also, our table was quite dirty: sticky surface and crumbs. A good experience, however.
L. L.
Lovely staff, attentive. Great food. Make sure to get there during happy hour. Also the pork chop with apple and chips are delightful. Bon Appetit!
R. S.
Best to book for $55 Oysters & bottomless bubbles for two. Also great $1.50 oysters everyday 18:00 - 19:00. Nice atmosphere & cool music.
Y. S.
This bar has the friendliest service of any bar in the city. My friends and I were there for at least 5 hours on a Friday after work and had the best time. Every single employee at this bar was extremely friendly and helpful. I accidentally knocked over a glass (I'm so sorry!!) and spilled its contents all over the table and in the time it took me to napkins from the bar, the staff had already cleaned it up. Their job is a stressful one but you'd never know it, all were beaming! The manager is lovely, atmosphere is great, can't recommend The Morrison enough. Thank you all for such a positive experience!!
M. T.
Went there after a Work Christmas Party, at about 10:30pm. The crowds had diminished at that time to about half full. We were greeted by the bartender in a jest that made us feel welcome. My wife’s crustacean allergy was reassuringly accommodated. My need to have a good smoky whiskey was met with an introduction to an outstanding Lagavulin 16 (gotta get me a bottle of those for later!!). The bartender recommended a very nice Shiraz for my beautiful other half and she too was happy. We shared the burger and duck fat hot chips. The ambience of the place was also nice for a couple. It was a wonderful way to top off a great evening and we will return to this place which we will remember fondly.
P. v. B.
A great spot for an inner city lunch. The prices are reasonable and the food is fast and friendly. My ocean trout is perfectly cooked and the side of chips and cauliflower popcorn are darn tasty. A nice big open plan space makes for a relaxed and friendly vibe.
F. L.
Went there on a Wednesday for a $1 oyster deal and $5 per drink. Great location, good atmosphere and excellent service. We had soup let of house White, 4 dozen good quality oysters and they are better than those we had in fish market. Bear in mind, the deal start at 6pm, finish at 7pm so please make sure u be there half an hour to get table. Pasta is also good too!!!
R. M.
Oyster special good. only natural. My muscles were were perfectly cooked sauce delicious. Crab linguine tasteless with little crab. Goose fat chips okay. Wine delicious. Oysters worth it. Gabriel our waiter was fantastic!
D. B.
Great food and cocktails! The oysters were so fresh. Service was good, though sometimes difficult to get the wait staffs attention. Not worth taking stars off for though!
I. M.
Very fine and classy place located around the rocks, its a bar and restaurant. Kindly served, very good food (we had king fish and sirloin, with some sides), clean and cosy. Be ware when they ask you for sparkling or flat water, sparkling is a 10 dollar bottle.
B. P.
Excellent customer service from the minute I walked through the door. Fantastic wine knowledge from the bar staff. Waitstaff were all pleasant and efficient. Ordered the crab linguine - FANTASTIC flavour and perfect portion size. My friend was of course there for the oysters - all 18 of them were gobbled up quick
P. T.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Gotta try the pork chop and the slow cooked lamb shoulder, they are to die for. Service was top notch - thanks to Andrea, he's made our birthday celebration extra special!
J. T.
The place needs snacks however the staff make up for the managements lack of chips and nuts. I mean what bar doesn't sell chips or peanuts. Wait staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Japanese girl that served us (Nana) was fantastic and is the only reason why I have rated this bar 5star. Without her, this bar is a solid 3 stars.
M. T.
I moved to Australia only recently and when you move to a new country, every small thing, every person, every day counts to make you feel like home faster. Like for most of us, rituals and habits help so I started with having my small rituals - one of them is a morning coffee.
Every day before I start my day at work, I get a large flat white, Parlour Coffee. The coffee is good, but it wouldn't taste as good if not the experience of actually ordering and getting this coffee. The small chit chat I always have and the jokes and smiles I always get from Jack and Shannon make the experience priceless. And all of it of course makes the coffee taste better! They asked for my name the second time I ordered a coffee, which has certainly made me wanna come back to get another taste of this personal experience at home far away from home. And I did (and still do) come back. Every day. Two months in Sydney and I can easily say that both Shannon and Jack, as well as my morning ritual were a big part of making Sydney my new home. One of my favourite places in Sydney with my favourite coffee!! Thanks guys for your kindness and smiles.❤️.
P.S. I still don't like Mondays, but you do make it easier to go through the week hah :)
J. S.
Food, atmosphere and service were good but on noticing our bill seemed substantially higher than expected we found that we were overcharged. Two errors. The manager to his credit was very apologetic and refunded the money plus the full cost of our glasses of wine. Hopefully this was just a hicup.
N. R.
Food was good, venue was clean and service was good. I had the fillet steak and cauliflower popcorn which was delicious but you're paying restaurant prices in a pub for lunch which means it's too expensive. The staff were good and kept our table water topped up but for the price you'd be better off at a restaurant. There were no normal pub meals on the menu.
W. L.
Came here for Oyster month special. We had two and a half dozen of oysters for a dollar each. Had a amazing time with the food and drinks. It's also great for meeting new people. Great vibes and service. Seems to be popular with folks working around the area.
B. L.
Sweet as they come and makes a killer cocktail: Ben! I landed in Australia after an 18 hour flight and he helped me get all settled in here in Sydney!
I just have to say: Ben is one of those charming, over the top nice and full of energy bartenders.
Very attentive staff. I’ll have to go back for the oysters as I heard they were all the rage!
A. D.
The food was fine, the service was good - attentive, friendly. But, the average food meant that the experience was pretty average. Nice atmosphere, good for drinks and after works on a Friday. Also, not great value for money - would go back for drinks, but that's about it.
L. W.
Saw the chicken lollipops were must have items here. I decided to drop in and give them a try. The place is pretty nice inside and I was there early so the place was empty. The staff was super nice and I ordered the lollipops and a salad.
They were OK but I probably wouldn't order them again. They're a bit pricey for something that's deep fried chicken drumsticks the size of drumsticks you get in an order of chicken wings. The sauce wasn't bad either.
M. L.
Went there for the $1 oysters and was impressed with the ample supply they had especially considering the amount of customers. The oysters were good but definitely not as good as those from Sydney Fish Market. But for the price you pay, it is definitely very good value.
Had a glass of Prosecco which was $10 - bit on the pricey end for other food/drink items at the restaurant from the looks of it.
R. S. M.
Fabulous food and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Elliott provided great service.
Will definitely be coming back
E. F.
Great place to have a drink. They have Stella so as a Belgian this is a great plus point! The Rosé wine is not quite that good but OK. Awesome music and nice to relax. Really looking forward to come back to taste the oysters!
D. S.
Great food and service, highly recommend
N. M.
Love The Morrison, I go there quite frequently with my partner. The special this past August was $1 oysters - the coolest thing ever. The oysters are so fresh and the food great. The environment is chill and lounge like, but when the evenings and weekends hit, the room gets packed. If you want a table, I recommend making a booking.
E. T.
Lovely atmosphere. Staff very attentive. I had the burger but no bun as I like to eat GF. Delicious. The carrot side dish is delicious. Sides are large portions. Well worth a visit. A huge list of oysters, will have to go back and try those!
K. M.
We came here for after work drinks and a bite to eat. The staff didn't really seem to care about their service and I felt like I was putting them out by just asking a question in regards to a drink. It was had to get their attention and everything seemed to be too much effort. What saved the experience was the food. Really impressive plates of delicious goodies. If you're a fan of crabs get here during crab fest because it will knock your socks off - I wish I had taken photos. 1 star for service, 5 stars for food
G. H.
Yes we reserved a table which was a very wise move as the place gets packed for the Oyster festival. We had 48 oysters between 3 of us and stayed and had dinner. Yes they had beautiful Gluten free options for dinner. The service was very enjoyable, the place was absolutely full until about 8pm.
S. G.
Ben is a testament to this venues quality - amazing service, food, drinks and vibe. Ben was super attentive, made a mean margarita and some excellent food recommendations. This place is great for a high quality Friday work lunch or after work dinner / drinks.
J.
Fantastic oysters, atmosphere and service.
J. G.
Really good vibe here, the restaurant area around the corner means that you can get away from the busy hubub around the doorway and its quieter so you can hear yourself think.
Great place for a date, the crab linguini was rich and delicious and the menu was appealing. It is however not a place for a cheap eat, plates are in the $30-$40 range for mains so it might be better for a special occasion. The drinks at the bar are priced as expected and there is a good buzz there even early in the week. It is a nice place to meet up and has a great location as it's just a Stone's Throw from Circular Quay and lots of Sydney iconic buildings. You could definitely start a great night out from this location. Make sure you book ahead as the table seating does fill up. Enjoy!
A.
Good vibe, rude bartender, happy hour (limited $5 drinks) 5-7pm. Got really bustling at 6pm on a Friday. Bartender told us happy hour was about to start right after buying a bottle of wine. Manager was nice, allowed us a refund.
M. K.
Love the oysters at the Morrison. One of only a few decent places to get them so fresh in Sydney without having to try a 3 hat restaurant or take them home for diy. The old Brooklyn Hotel is a lot different these days. Still plenty of suits on Friday but less Wall Street. Now you come for the burgers or oysters or the slow cooked lamb. Great for a long Friday lunch. Service kind of disappeared at the end but it was well after 4 and we did actually get dessert - excellent and very tart brûlée lemon tart.
M. K.
I went to the Morrison today for the bottomless oyster. Had an amazing night.
Not only the oysters were amazing quality for the price.
kevin and Elliotte received us so well. Such friendly staff and environment . The food is really tasty.
I will definitely come back!
One of my favorite restaurent in Sydney.
K. L.
Came during happy hour. Oysters were great.
However, waited over 20 minutes in line at the bar with only 3-4 people in front. One of the senior staff appeared to be training somebody? The wait was too long given there were 4 people on the floor.
A. a. P. G.
Great atmosphere. Incredibly fresh oysters, with hat deliciously creamy lingering taste that only very fresh oysters give. Andrea was very charming and helpful wit the variety of oysters chosen. His enthusiasm for his work really added something to the occasion. Had steak tartare which my wife raved over, and I had baked baramundi which the chef did to perection. Great selection of wines by the glass. Not cheap, but they created a wonderful food experience and memory.April 10, 2019.
N. B.
Oyster deal is good value on week days. They do a steak and bottomless fries deal. You get what you pay for in terms of service. We were seated out the back and the service was quite slow.
C. H.
This restaurant and bar is in a good location and easy to find for first-time patrons. I have never had the oysters here but there is a nice and simple bistro-style menu and at one point they served breakfast which was delicious and convenient! (I don't know if they still do this.)
T. A.
Came in for my birthday after a bad experience at James squires and michaela just made my day. She recommended a few good things off the menu and made me a delicious bloody Mary. Great service. Would highly recommend a visit.
J. T.
Oysters were amazing ! Pretty cheap price for what you can get in the city. The ambience felt a bit noire, but it felt like a nice place to socialise and bring a whole group over the bar and restaurant. I'm also pretty happy with the serving and the vinegar saw was 100%
T. D.
An interesting city restaurant with a varied range of spaces in which to enjoy your cocktail and food. The oysters are great, with a varied selection to choose from. I ordered a steak and it was very poorly prepared, so if you're fussy about steak I'd avoid that. Everything else on the menu was great.
T. W.
The bar and restaurant are both top notch with a range of seating options which are all really good. If you're coming for the oyster happy hour be prepared to wait a while, we missed the lines by waiting until the last 10mins and it did not disappoint. Staff are all very friendly and service is done with a smile, even in the seemingly chaotic hour.

average cocktails--
Edited
So here it is in bit more details, as I remember it clearly it was at the beginning of our bar crawl. It was def early and the bar staff was def friendly and had a great vibe going. Although the drinks I ordered was a Old fashion which is typically served with big block ice cube and with some good old rye whiskey. The fact that there was normal ice instead of big cube plus the whiskey selection wasn't implressive. I gave it only 3 stars but happy to come again and try some more!
D. L.
I was looking for a place to have Diner and walk by this place which I found really attractive. I like the style of the place and ambiance. I had the Ceviche for appetizer and was not deceived its different than Ceviche's I tried in Peru but I loved it. For main course I had the Chicken Kiev which I loved also. Portions were great and the service I had from Gabriel was just perfect and he truly gave me got advice and genuine conversation.
I'll go back next time i'm in Sydney for sure.
E. D.
Fabulous food and nice wine, and the service was extraordinarily good, our dinner was served very fast and our wine glasses never empty. Big shout out to Andrea who looked after us so very well. Thanks to everyone and I’ll be back next Friday!
E. G.
We went in for a few drinks at the bar and were taken care of very quickly by Ben who was super friendly - an absolute champion! He helped us navigate through the drinks menu and made the best cocktails! Awesome service, highly recommend.
K. S.
Safe bet for a casual client lunch if they enjoy their oysters and burgers.
The menu has a little something for everyone, however it is overpriced for the quality of the food, which aside from the oysters, is just a bit middling. $10 for a handful of chips...
Good location for meeting people who are in the north of the city.
The ambience & decor is nicely done, its definitely a place to be seen and hang out rather than go for the food.
They have an oyster shucking bar which is fun to watch. Although you feel sorry for their poor hands.
Ratings:
Chairs: 6/10. You wouldn't want to sit too long
Speed: 7/10. Average, neither here nor there
Staff: 7/10. Pleasant greeting staff even if the desk is a bit weird when you walk in.
Toilets: Trek up the stairs, cold, but retro.
Pro point: It has a nicely priced cheese plate. \o/
Summary: An expensive eat out, so I would only chose this venue if i had a mad craving for oysters or it was a client event. Still needs a bit of love to settle into its new funky character.
T. K.
Nice restaurant, friendly staff, good food, but they don't serve dinner until after 6pm
M. B.
Oyster bar??? Had the smallest oysters ever and weren’t very tasteful and they still charge 4,50 each for them?? The bread smelled like fish and was horrible.. we had the mussels which were ok but portion sizes could be better..the french girl that served us was really nice tho.
A. R.
Tucked away in the Golden Lounge section of The Morrison is the Parlour Burger. While the burgers are not of a large size it is a reasonable portion so long as you get a side of fries. We found the sole staff member behind the bar not coming across as overly friendly and the sign for $5 happy hour drinks on the wall to be misleading as it apparently did not apply in the burger parlour. Service of food was very quick with the burgers and chips being very tasty but we were hungry. Atmosphere within was pleasant but very dim lighting which made reading the menu very hard.
A. R.
Service on NYE wasn't up to standards due to having to find a table by yourself and since it is was rather crowded, needing to ask at some half empty tables if there was room only be rudely denied by other guests. Secondly having to order food and drinks at the counter.
Oysters served were tepid. But the positive aspect it was replaced without question with new ones fresh on ice.
A. B.
Slightly underwhelming experience . Went here recently for a sit down function. Room & atmosphere were nice & staff friendly.
Food: Canapes were not outstanding (had heard the chicken lollipops were a must have - they are really just a deep fried frenched drumstick) and staff struggled to serve all guests equally - some guests completely missing out on some offerings
Mains were served "warm" and disappointingly the three side dishes came out slowly and progressively (strangely) with one not arriving at the table until people had already finished eating.
Dessert: Cheese plate was nice - lots of bread & crackers/flatbread, cheeses good but could improve upon only including three grapes & four dates. Bar staff also need to practice making a coffee at the right temperature (not luke warm)
Overall food wasn't terrible ... perhaps our expectations were too high
R. W.
Great burgers, even better duck fried chips. Super crunchy. And lots of drink options (8 beers on tap)
M. C.
Nice bar with a great restaurant area out the back. Had the zucchini noodles and whilst they were nice I think they could have done with an extra ingredient and slightly less butter sauce. It was good but by the end I was a bit over it.
m.
Came here for dinner and the $1 oysters tonight. We were not told that we had to make payment for the oysters before queuing for it at the shucking counter. Thus, we ended up realising it only after reaching the end of the queue but the oyster hour has ended by then. The restaurant staff was nice enough to allow us to order the oysters after understanding our situation, so I wanna say thanks here!
The oysters were small but pretty flavourful, and a good deal for the price.
We went on to order Duck fat fish and chips and beef tartare for dinner. The fish and chips were ok but average at best, the beef tartare wasn't great as well. Also, the waitresses seemed to lack sufficient knowledge of the food and one of them seem to have a language problem as she didn't seem to understand our queries even though we were simply speaking in English.
Overall, I don't mind coming back for the oysters but not for the food. The waitresses definitely need more training to up the service standards.
Z. B.
Kiara was my waitress. From beginning to end she was helpful, kind and a pleasure to have as our tending waitress. She helped us with the COVID-19 QR codes and, as soon as we finished our drinks, she was on the ball and made sure we were well quenched. Because of Kiara, this is now my local drinking point
T. L.
A dozen oysters with a white wine on a Wednesday night is hard to beat. The burgers out the back are also pretty tasty! Only difficulty is finding a place to sit, but that is to expected in the location and during busy times.
R. W.
Three of us went to the Morrison and had a fantastic dinner. Shared the large T-bone with a few sides and it was just perfect. Wait staff were all excellent. Friendly and efficient. Thanks everyone for a good evening.
J. M.
Have some delicious food in this venue. Mussels are amazing! Although some bread to finish up the mussel sauce would have made it even better! Negroni was made very well if not a little pricey.
I will come back for sure.
P. D.
Highly recommend. Great service. Thanks Elliot for getting us a table next to window on a busy night and thanks heaps to Margau for Fabulous cocktails and beer suggestion! These two staff made the different.
S. G.
I work just around the corner from this place and eat here at least once a week. Drinks are very nice and not filled with sugar syrup to mask the taste of the poor ingredients like at other places. Food is always amazing, definitely try the duck fat chips with aioli or the zucchini noodles.
Only thing I notice is when I get the zucchini noodles in house I can never finish them but when I order at work I always think I’ll have some left over to eat again the next day but there’s never as much. Hmmm. Not a big deal just sad I can’t enjoy them twice :)
R. F.
Linguine full of flavour and cocktails very good.
Small brunette girl behind the bar went above and beyond for me and my wife, some of the best customer service I’ve ever recieved
However sadly young girl on floor was very rude to us which would have ruined the experience had we let it
F. I.
Had a lovely lazy lunch with friends. Andrea was very accommodating and made us feel very welcomed. The food was amazing as well. A great venue to sit, eat, drink wine and chat.
D. 2.
Good experience, the cocktail list could be larger.
K. D.
Great vibe and amazing food!
L.
Amazing service, great promotion of doubling the Dine vouchers on Monday and Tuesday. Had a wonderful time, will be back again!
M. P.
The Morrison has The BEST hamburger in Sydney. no kidding! I have tried hamburgers and almost gave up on them and then I found this place. they are 10 dollars and big and yummy and simple, which is what makes them great, no extra stuff on them, perfect amount of everything. order with some duck fat chips, sit and enjoy! the staff is always smiling and the music is nice too!
A. A.
One of the only places I know of in Sydney that freshly shucks their oysters when ordered and don't rinse them (seriously, why most places seem to want their oysters rinsed is beyond me!). Excellent food and decently priced with a cool ambience.
R. S.
Pricey. The steak was great but does not come with any sides even salad! How much does salad cost? Friend's lamb/beef ragout was dry and lacks enough meat! Will come back for the Great atmosphere but not the food
C.
Had the most amazing service from Ashleigh/Ashley. She was chatty, and happy to explain the drinks to my friend and I. I told her I was on the hunt for the best amaretto sour in sydney and she made the most AMAZING one I have had so far. Highly recommend any of Morrisons cocktails and the vibe is great. Look for the girl with a flower in her hair and the service will be fab!
W. T. S. C.
When you are out later than expected and need dinner, the Morrison Bar is a great place. Centrally locates and a good selection of food and wine to stop that hunger. Friendly service which is unusual for many of the bigger venues in Sydney - they make an effort to ensure you are happy. Food is food but not great, however it is not meant to be 5 Star dining.
C. C.
Super fresh oysters, delicious salt cod croquettes, tempura prawn sliders and a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy lunch and champagne with friends. I would love to revisit on my next trip to Sydney.
S. Q.
Pretty cool place for a bite to eat, extra points for being able to get a nice juicy burger after 9pm on a Monday when everything else is already closed in the city! Great music! Chilled vibe! George Street has been messed up for a while with all the construction and road blocks, but worth going through the mess to explore the Parlour Burger at Morrison Bar!
O. S.
Stylish bar with a focus on oysters served fresh from all over Australia. Good bar and restaurant for large groups and a good place for a late night dinner. Fantastic menu with clasocs such as pork and veal ragu and fish served on the bone. Great cocktails and wine list. Pricey but worth it
g. t.
This place has a buzzing vibe with eclectic interiors. They were packed on a Sat night so we grabbed some spots at the bar tables. Loved the tiled tables!
The aged beef burger on brioche bun was a tad on the sloppy side but the meat was gooood. Deep fried chicken lollipops with sticky sauce was my pick of the night.
Do order the sangria carafe which comes with an adorable teacups set!
J. F.
Amazing dinner the crab linguine was superb as well as the sashimi platter!!! I could not fault any dish.. Our waiter Andrea was amazing he is an asset to the team!
M. B.
Came for the $1 Oyster festival, was not disappointed. As expected it was pretty packed but able to find a seat after waiting 5-10 minutes. Oysters were delicious and staff very helpful.
M. R.
We did a cocktail making class with Laura for my husband’s 30th and had a blast! Laura was fun and professional and the space at the Morrison was perfect for our group of 15. Would recommend.
M. C.
I had the burger with duck fat chips - delicious. Some other reviews complain about the price but I thought it was reasonable for the serving. My only complaint was that it was very loud - but it was a Friday evening and maybe I'm just getting old.
B. S.
Great after work spot for a burger and a coffee. Would highly reccomend an espresso martini as they are on the cheaper side but very delicious. In house cocktails will not dissapoint. A lovely ambiance and great music choice makes it a must visit spot for a quiet relaxing drink or bite to eat.
F. A.
Cocktail class with Laura. She was a very sweet and lovely girl and did everything she could to make sure we had everything we needed and took lots of photos of us. Very kind and warm young lady
E. D.
Beautiful service all night round! Tiberio was our waitor and was very helpful in helping us select our food. He knew everything on the menu and explained it in great detail to us. Will 100% be coming back here! Such lovely service, thank you!
E. D.
The food is ok, not worth the price. I've had better steaks for half the price.
S. S.
Great atmosphere, reasonably priced. Will definitely go back to try more of the menu
L. V.
Wehen we arrived, our reservation was not ready. but the manager sorted something immediately was great!
We had the best night! Mikeala was amazing and took good care of us for the night!!
Definitely organising a work night at the bar again! We just need to know when Mikeala works again!
F. F.
Tasty oysters and the food is generally a high standard. Nice ambience but a little pricey, especially for wine options. You can tell it's popular with the banking crowd on Fridays!
J. L.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the burger. Looking at the menu beforehand, I had reasonably high expectations but the patty was dry and overcooked, even though it was meant to be served "pink", and the brioche was a bit dense for my liking.
Also in terms of the size of the burger, it's was on the small side, I'd describe it as more of a slider.
l. l.
We had my hens party at the Morrison where we did a cocktail making course and lunch. Ben our host for the cocktail making was really good, knew what he was doing and really made us feel special. I would highly recommend Ben and this is venue for a hens party.
S. L.
The Morrison is vastly improved from its days as the Brooklyn hotel. Food was great and service was good too. Minor downside was long wait time for food, but forgivable overall. Try some of the sides with your main, they're quite tasty. Would eat here again.
B. D.
A truly beautiful bar and restaurant in the heart of Sydney's CBD. It has an old world charm about it, and the staff are friendly which helps to give the place a great atmosphere.
Try the try the oyster bar, snack menu or dine in for lunch or dinner. They have a great cocktail and wine list and you can book a table for after work drinks.
A. G.
A great place for some after work drinks in the city. The food selection is fantastic and on Tuesdays they have cheap oysters.
There is a bar out the back which also can cater for small functions. Drinks are reasonable and the bar staff are very friendly.
N. L.
Lovely cocktails currently in oyster month; oysters were average, cocktails were bold and refreshing. Massive queues can occur so you got to secure a spot and a dining place early. Great for location as well.
J.
Well my first expectation for the food in this restaurant wasn’t high - I thought the food should be normal pub food. However, they raised bar. Cauliflower popcorn, steaks, and linguini are great!! Highly recommended.
M. G.
Arrived early before restaurant had opened but staff were nice enough to seat us early. Staff interaction was excellent and their recommendations were spot on. Especially recommend the lamb rack for 2 and the lemon meringue
E.
We had a lovely dinner at the Morrison, made all the more special by the delightful service of Andrea. His friendly advice and charming attention combined with a delicious lamb shoulder gave us a beautiful night to remember.
B. H.
Stopped into this cool and classy joint for a pre dinner drink, very happy with this find. Great cocktails, friendly staff and good decor, even the atmosphere for a quite time was just right. Thanks
M. K.
We had a lovely evening in here with a fabulous menu and great cocktails. See food is obviously a specialty but great service and welcoming ambiance
F. K.
We walked in after being told that "Mr Wong's" resturaunt just across the road was not accepting any walk ins ( even though it was an 2 hours before thier closing time and and only 2 tables had bookings). The four of us had a great night! Chicken lollipops, seafood linguini, burger and duck fat chips etc etc and quite a few beers, mojitos, Irish coffees and gin & tonics ( not just for me haha). The food was great, there was no complaints from us! The wait staff girls were very helpful and service was super fast even though the place was quite busy. Yes it is on the pricey side but well worth it for the good time we had there!
A. M.
Went for a 60th birthday. The food was fantastic. Portion sizes were spot on for a 3 course meal, filling you up but not to illness. Atmosphere is great.
M. O.
Even without reservation your team was motivated to search for the last table. Food was great and the service + advices to the area of Andrea rounded the thing up to a really nice evening!
Ps: enjoy your last month Andrea ;-)
B.
I have lost track of how many times I have been here.. lots!
Always a good time dining, drinking, had a couple of functions there too.
The staff seem tb a happy crew and mostly very attentive and engaging.
Oh yes.. crab linguine. Soo nice.
Didn't realise this place is named after the great, late Jim Morrison on The Doors fame. They need to theme better and play music of the era and of course, The Doors.
A.
Came here for drinks with colleagues. I didn't have the signature oyster but instead had a beer (white rabbit ale) and chips which was really great.
F. L.
Really loud, but you can still hear your friend's talking. Awesome wine (Chianti Classico) and fat duck chips. The salad serving is surprisingly small for its price ($15). We order fish and we felt it's bit undercooked.
H. S.
A great bar and restaurant. The oysters though were waaaay to salty. But the brocollini salad, prawn cocktail and king crab were perfect. Also, chicken Kyiv needs a little bit of improvement, telling you as a native Kyiv citizen 😉
C. S.
Went for the oysters but will def go back to try other things. Great vibe!
M. P.
Cosy place but the drinks were not cold enough and the burger I tried was not anything special.... UPDATE: Thank you for responding to my review. Just wanted to add how helpful the staff were at your place and judging by the prompt response to your customers review I'm sure things can only go better with you guys.
J. C.
I highly recommend the Morrison for any event you have because the service I've received was the best. No joke. Charlotte and Hayley were the bartenders for a reception I attended and they were so polite and efficient. If you ever have an event, this venue is a great place to go.
P. W.
Fantastic food. Great chilled atmosphere. Wait staff were top notch - special mention to Andrea who made the experience that much better.
R. Z.
Great spot but crowds form early - that's a good thing I guess - in the relentless pursuit being trendy. Take a first date or a 10 year anniversary the result will be the same....happiness all round, especially if you climb into their signature oysters washed down with a chaser or two of Japanese Whiskey. Just don't blame them if 9 months later you have a life long problem on your hands.
C. W.
Celebrated a friend's birthday at The Morrison and staff were extremely welcoming to our large group, and generously had a bottle of sparkling waiting for us upon arrival. Food was good, the decor is fun 'New York brasserie', and the music was (randomly) a selection of amazing 90's tunes. Recommended.
M. W.
Super tasty oysters and that's why you go there so it's basically a win even though the cocktails are far too sweet for my taste. Big points for having a cocktail on draught! The first in Australia. Friendly service, CBD typical high prices.
W. L.
Margaux was the best bar tender I've had the pleasure if dealing with in a long time. It was super busy when I was here and she was super speedy and friendly. Ppl were calli g her from left to right and she handled everything with a smile and speed. AMAZING
A. K.
The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room provided my work colleagues and myself with a great late arvo/early night wine and dine. The aura of relaxation and ambience allowed us to escape the hustle and bustle of a 9-5. The table seating however ((which was well below average I might add)) made it feel like we were still in the office at our cubicle, the very place we came to The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room to escape. If I was a part owner of The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room ((thank God I'm not, right?)) I would employ the use of comfort seating that encompasses the post work relaxation some of us so truly crave. As fate would have it though I took a path of intellect and hard work and here I stand, a valued member of senior management at none other then Goldman Sachs ((on a 6 figure salary for all those wondering)) doing what I was put in this beautiful planet to do... manage. All in all however a great all round experience and would definitely return to The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room again.
A. N.
A stylish restaurant in the CBD. I like the decoration and atmosphere here. Some dish were really good but not all of them (such as beef and lamb ragu). Staff were friendly and service was quick.
K. B.
The old Brooklyn Hotel has been extensively revamped into the Morrison bar and restaurant. The owners have done a great job fitting the establishment out, it is very stylish while doesn't go over the top.
It is obvious straight away that they are trying to do something a little bit different with the menu which it good to see, the philosophy is everything taste better on the bone or in the shell. However in practice the menu was a little hit and miss.
First of all it must be said this is not a true oyster bar, while there was a good selection of oysters from around NSW the only style they are served as is natural which was a bit limited. Our group had a selection of entrées which were all very good, the highlights being the garlic 'n' pernod prawns, scampi sashimi and crab toast. Overall the mains were a bit disappointing especially the pork chop and the sirloin steak on the bone (the three steaks ordered were all full of gristle and very chewy, to the point that one was returned). On the other hand the pastas that our group ordered all seemed to go down well. It must be said the staff were very accommodative especially after one of the steaks was returned offering us a complementary bottle of wine. The wine list was very good also.
It can get very busy especially with the after work crowd so can get quite loud for dinner.
M. T.
Beautiful food and great service. Good for parties.
B. A. C.
The food here is delicious, oysters fresh and nice environment
The most important is one of the server Mr. Andrea very friendly and patience assist to order food.
Andrea you are the best
I’m a traveller from Malaysia
K. T.
Great Bar! $1.5 oysters every Saturday between 5-7 I think. They were small, but so good!
E. G.
Amazing, great and attentive service. Crab linguine was delicious, could have eaten double portion. Thanks.
I. R.
Good for a beer after work, but I haven’t had a great food experience here. Overpriced as it knows it’s location gets tourist and business people. I got a gazpacho here once that felt just like tomato liquid with crab sitting on the plate.
J. B.
Came for the oysters, stayed for the service.
Oyster festival was a delight as always. Was served by the lovely Andrea who was super attentive and friendly. Would recommend.
P. T.
Good vibe for drinks! Oysters are amazing, friendly staff and attentive services, Ben was lovely, he’s the best! Not touristy, definitely recommend.
c. b.
Great food and oysters; beer selection is average but typical for the CBD.
K. C.
The oysters were fresh and very tasty, but a little pricey (around $4 each). The fish and chips were solid. They use a very messy and firm fish that held up very well deep fried.
J. M.
While we didn't end up going to the place as our plans had changed. I would just like to applaud them for the understanding they demonstrated and the ease of us cancelling our booking. When we get the chance we will definitely be coming to this restaurant for real.
P. C.
I really enjoy the happy hour here. Its a great location with good beer.
I also love the ladies toilet. Its is a great mix of old and new. The toilet door comments are memorable.
A. K. (.
Great for local oysters, seafood and steak. Buzzy local bar and gastropub. we had fresh oysters, ceviche and a steak frites special. Friendly staff. recommended as a good casual lunch or dinner place with work mates
M. s.
Great venue
Excellent atmosphere
Can recommend the duck fat chips for a small feed.
Served by Ben
He’s an excellent bar tender made my visit to the Morrison oyster bar a treat.
C. G.
Great food, atmosphere and service
E. T.
Went to The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room for a drink after work on Friday. Nice atmosphere.
R. P.
Three Stars for the one third of the menu that is available on a friday night. The food is excellent, particularly between 3 and 6PM. Outside of that some of these delicious meals are unavailable.
R. L.
The room at the front is usually noisy and crowded, but the dining area at the back is a lot more quiet if you're after a more subdued environment. The food was very good and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here.
E. K.
Exceeded my expectations in all areas. The carpet bag steak was honestly the best I've ever eaten. Very happy with the service and the oysters!
O. A.
Good food. Friendly staff. Will go again.
P. S.
Great atmosphere, only went in for a drink, but enjoyed the music and ambience, would definitely go there again
A. M.
Food was excellent. Location is central.
Staff were friendly and attentive. A great place for a date night out without the kids.
m. g.
Nice place, good food. Sat at the bar, Ben took care of us. He seems so knowledgeable about making drinks and food choices. Overall, great experience thank to Ben!
N. l.
Great atmosphere and love the amazing food especially the oysters. Definitely great for dates and staffs are attentive to our needs.
S. S.
Stopped in for lunch and got some amazing oysters! The atmosphere and service are great, our waiter Andrea made it a truly enjoyable experience
R. S.
Food was good and the service was really friendly. Had the the popcorn cauliflower as a starter and burger and fries for a main both were really good. Would definitely recommend eating here.
B. T.
The food was quite tasty.
Although service was slow and at times waiter gave attittude.
Oysters are tasty and taste fresh.
Good place to fit large groups for drinks
L. C.
Everything is very good: food, service and ambiance.
The menu was not completely available, so it is good to have a second choice ready.... but the menu is good, not hard to pick two.
M. Q.
Best way to start the day
By far my favourite place to grab a coffee on the way up to work. Shannon makes a killer cappuccino, always has a smile on her face and is always up for a chat. Same goes for Jack, who even remembered my coffee after being away for a few months. Grabbing your morning coffee is about more than the drink, and this is what Parlour gets right
A. S.
Very good oysters, very good wine, very nice staff. Ben took care of us! And also shout out to the oyster bar order-taking guy.
R. P.
Great place for after work drinks. Wednesday special for oysters are a knockout. For their burgers (as shown on website) go next door to the pub side
K. M.
Tonight, I was served by mikaela. Not only did she serve some quality banter, she also served some quality customer service. She made my night. Honestly, this girl deserves a raise. Thank you mikaela. You’ll be forever in my heart.
e. m.
Towards the Circular Quay/The Rocks end of town, the lines were out the door for the oysters. Luckily I was not waiting in that queue and was actually attending a function that was held towards the back of the restaurant. Restauranteur and celebrity chef, Sean Connelly was in attendance tonight as he was the consultant chef for the major airline hosting tonight.
The food on offer was snack of the Americana variety as it was the 4th Of July or Independence Day. My favourites were the Chilli Dogs which were mini hotdogs topped with mince type mixture on top. The Pumpkin Arancini were perfectly crisp on the outside with an oozy cheese and rice filling. Mushroom Cigars had a nice filling too.
There was lots of fun this evening with a crab eating contest and donut eating contest. There was an amazing donut wall decorated as the American flag from Grumpy Donuts.
H. T.
Don’t order the fish tacos! Extremely over priced for 3 tiny lettuce leafs topped with a spoonful of seafood mush! Order the crab linguini it was delicious.
c. m.
Missed out on the oyster happy hour ..so decided to have the hamburger instead.. decent burger... add a bit of chilli sauce to enhance the flavour. Great venue good service.
E. S. I.
Awesome venue for a relaxed yet tasty dinner in the city. Best oysters I've had in Sydney. Highly recommend the chicken lollipops and the tbone steak to share!
L. Z.
Delicious food and overall good service! But book on the weekend as this place can get quite busy, but the Oysters are definitely worth the wait.. absolutely sublime! Will definitely come back again.
R. P.
Great joint in the pointy end of the city. Great place for happy hour. Staff are great. Service is fast. The price is lower than expected for this area of town.
T. W.
With an outdoor theme, lots of wood, pot plants and tiles, The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room has taken over part of the Brooklyn Hotel and transformed it into a space for lunch and after work crowds plus oyster devotees. The newspaper styled "Le Journal de Wine" is an interesting read, containing wine myths and a run down of the different varieties of oysters that are on offer. The place is busy and very loud, avoid it if you are looking for somewhere intimate and quiet.
M. C.
Margot (bar tender) showed great customer service skills when dealing with a difficult patron right before me. All that with a smile! 😁
Also great happy hour!
K. R.
The food and the atmosphere was great. The customer service is exceptional. Especially Andrea, he was extremely caring. I think I am obsessed with this place.
V.
Went to the Morrisons on Wednesday and got the $1 oysters. I wouldn't recommend getting a mocktail because I ordered one and it was awful! Gets pretty busy around 6:00pm... So I would say arrive early to get a seat.
C. M.
Good range of oysters from all over New South Wales and South Australia. Go to dish is the slow cooked pork hock for 2 for $48. Please visit our blog ChopinandMysaucepan for an objective and honest review.
K.
Delicious food and good service! Loved the duck fat chips and the watermelon salad! They have $1 oysters here on Wednesday 6-7pm!
A. H.
Really enjoyed the cocktail making class with Margaux. She was amazing was start to finish! I’d high recommend it to everyone.
N. B.
This is a great bar, pub, restaurant, lounge or whatever sort of meeting place you need all under one roof in the middle of the Sydney CBD. My favourite area is the Oyster Room, they have an amazing selection from all over the country.
E. L.
Went for the Oyster happy hour and stayed behind for some drinks, got a fantastic cocktail recommendation from Margaux! Great food, friendly staff
S. M.
A bit expensive but very good food!
H. L.
Great place to come get affordable oysters and reasonable drinks. Come during happy hour!
T. G.
I can recommend this: especially the Oyster Happy Hour on some weekdays is great, and the adjacent Burger parlour.
V. M.
Oysters were fresh and delicious, service was spot on. A great experience all round.
V. L. T.
Loved the atmosphere here. Service was decent as well. Good selection of seafood and oysters. Enjoyed my time here.
P. R.
The Merimbula oysters were good and the duck fat chips. Steak was cooked well. Macaroni cheese was nice but it was penne pasta and the linguine was spaghetti. Too expensive!
J. W.
Could not recommend this restaurant enough! Good solid food with a relaxed and hippy atmosphere. Thank you to my waiter, Andre for making my night 👏🏻❤️
H. L.
Great environment. Service and food.
T. K.
One of the best cocktails I've had. Ben was very friendly and makes a mean bloody mary. Highly recommended.
R. S.
We had an amazing experience. Food wise is great and location is great.
S. G.
Came for the oyster festival in October. Oysters were freshly shucked and tasted delicious. I'll be back.
J. P.
Mikaela was the best bartender! So friendly and makes you feel so welcome. Best customer service - super funny
E. D.
Since its renovation in 2012, the Morrison is a great place for Friday night drinks, (particularly for all the lawyers and accountants that work nearby). Although it gets very crowded, their $5 drinks at happy hour are a good time.
M. B.
Nice Vibe, can be a bit noisy if you are near the speakers. Good happy hour but can get very busy if your not there early for a table/seats.
S. P.
Great location, haven't tried the food. Also 5-7pm all drinks are $5! Ambience also spot on, I just hope they keep it up.
S. R.
Oysters here are amazing - usually 3 choices. Fries and pate also great. Nice lunch stop on weekend or after work drinks/food.
E. C.
The oysters are cheap but not so fresh...Feel confusing about the counter
S. B.
Great oysters. Very slow service at happy hour, everything took an age to arrive.
L. T.
I love this place. The food, service & atmosphere is brilliant. My go to place for a guaranteed 5 star dinner out with friends or family.
C.
Loved the oysters and 2 hr bubbles deal! So a great way to hang out with friends.
D. L.
Ben was the best! Made our visit to Sydney very fun with delicious cocktails and bar bites -
Thank you Ben! Til next time...!
K. T. E.
The DJ could be very well replaced with live music. The ambience is there, the drinks are there and food is great.
Issues: the 2% surcharge must be subsumed within the price. In today's day and age charging for a card seems outdated
E. C.
Nice bar and good food but as a result of its popularity it's rather crowded and service levels drop. Oyster month is great but again too crowded!
T. T.
I just want to write in regards to Margaux. She was an absolute delight to deal with and was so helpful whenever we needed anything. She is an asset to the organisation and anyone would be privileged to have her on board!!!
C. L.
OK service on a Friday night, really busy and didnt have much time to come to us, a little bit too expensive for a bar like atmosphere, although i must say they have great music. The atmosphere is good, but i must day a little bid disappointed from all the hype that was created,
K. C.
Went here for happy hour oysters for $1 each. Fresh. Service affable and good selection of drinks too.
F. L.
Full collections of oysters to choose and nice Ribeyes
J. S.
Enjoyed our time at the Morrison for the oysters and they had walk-in availability.
D. K.
Great place, super busy during happy hour and a lot of fun indeed. Oyster are small but super good ;)
g.
1 dollar oysters worth about 25 cents. The place was ok, but the oysters were at best edible. Learned my lesson.
T. W.
Great location. Drinks named after the Doors - Lead Vocal Jim Morrison). One drink is " Light My Fire".
Great SERVICE.
M.
Morrison still going strong. Service as terrible as ever but the vibe and location is perennially attractive. Weird.
J. M.
Great pub in Sydney CBD. Great selection of beers, lots of space throughout the building, little nooks all around. Always a good vibe!
D. G.
Great food and prompt and courteous service. We went there to catch up with freinds over a meal so it was a bit noisy for conversation but still a great night out!!
S. O.
Pretty overpriced spot, we've been mostly disappointed when coming here. The lone exception is on $1 Oyster night (Wednesdays), I'd highly recommend battling the crowds to get in on the action.
S. S.
Sooo many Oysters. Great wine, great vibe. Can get very busy but service is generally pretty quick. Good is good allround
R. H.
Look I like The Morrisons, especially for its $5 happy hour and chilled vibe. The reason that they didn't get a 'woo!' score from me is the ever shrinking scooner glasses. They seem to be getting smaller, which causes me to doubt the value of my $5 scooner. Even whilst I'm getting a deal, I somehow still manage to feel cheated, but go there every Friday nonetheless. It's tradition.
m. t.
A great place to get together with your crew. Food and drinks are delicious!
N. M. D.
Nice bar and good atmosphere. Barman called Ben was very friendly and also remembered my round everytime despite serving loads of people!
M. M.
Great atmosphere ,the best freshly shucked oysters you'll find anywhere always love going there
P. W.
Did not had a chance to visit the bar as we went late with our tram party tickets. But place seems very busy and cozy
m. h.
American Bar with great service and atmosphere. Overpriced wine list but you have little choice but high prices near the Rocks.
C. P.
Just popped in for a quick drink and had a good time. Seemed to be a good place for a meal and got me interested enough that I will definitely be returning to give its food a go.
L. K.
Possibly the bar service imaginable! Attention, friendly and amazing recommendations on their cocktail list. The best cocktail list in a LONG time !
W.
Came to the Morrison randomly on a night out, ended up being served by the most hilarious and entertaining bartender named mikayla. Woul return because of her service !
d.
Amazing oysters and service. Andrea kept our waters going all night and was super lovely and attentive!
M.
Nicely renovated bar. Came here when it was the Brooklyn hotel, the new decor is nice. Beers are reasonably priced for this side of Sydney.
D. E.
Everything here was better than a normal restaurant as expected for the price.
R. C.
Dddope happy hour. Most cost-effective way to do on oysters and champagne that close to Circular Quay. Cozy interior, good location, helpful staff.
