Comments of Via Della Spiga Italian Restaurant
R. M.
What a great little place. Wonderfully friendly and authentic service by the owner, nice atmosphere with the music.
Food was also very enjoyable.
Even our son commented how he could tell his pizza was made of fresh ingredients (compared to other run of the mill pizzas) and was keen to go back again.
Lasagne felt like it could do with a bit more meet, not in my top 10 but was still enjoyable and fresh.
Lamb shoulder was also very nice and fell of the bone.

Four of us dined on a busy Saturday night in February. We started off with a couple of refreshing Peronis and a glass of Prosecco. For starters, we shared the chicken, spinach and mozzarella arancini balls ($13), salt and pepper squid ($10) and a rocket salad ($17). That was all fresh and tasty and a great way to start the meals. For my main course, I choose the spaghetti bolognese with ragu and pecorino cheese ($25). The others all choose fish dishes, including the salmon with a leafy green salad ($33), seafood linguine ($26) and a “cacciucco alla livornese” ($29) which is a seafood medley with toasted bread. My pasta was cooked “al dente” just the way I like it, with a flavoursome meat sauce and sprinkled with tasty cheese. My wife’s salmon was succulent and tasty, well complemented by a serve of nutritious salad. The other dishes also went down well and everyone enjoyed their meals. Portion sizes were generous. For dessert, we shared a gelato ($7) and a cheese cake ($12), they were sweet and creamy; the perfect way to end the evening.
This is a family owned and run restaurant and it shows. The owners have clearly put in a lot of effort into creating a pleasant dining experience. They care about their guests, and the result is a warm and homely place, where you’ll be made to feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. In fact even before you arrive you’ll start to feel the love. If, like us, you’ve made a booking, Jennifer, the owner will give you a courtesy call a few hours prior, to confirm your booking. That was a nice touch, and also saved me the trouble of confirming the booking myself.
And they’re obviously doing something right, because the place is popular with the locals. We had an early 6.30pm booking and we were the first diners, but within an hour or so it was a full house. Despite that, acoustics are good and we were easily able to converse.
The interior has been tastefully decked out in a soothing cream colour scheme, with simple but comfortable wooden furniture, flower pots on the ceiling and some colourful wall posters, to give it a bright and cheery vibe.
Service was polite and attentive, although if I had one suggestion to these folk, it would be to roster an extra staff member on busy nights. Our drinks and starters came out quickly enough, but then followed a rather long and tedious wait of about 30 minutes for the mains. I accept that everything is freshly cooked and that sometimes takes time, and it was, as I mentioned, fairly busy, but still, for me at least, quick service is always a pleasure.
With a generous 50% discount off the food, from TheFork, we paid a reasonable $111 for three drinks, two starters, a salad, four mains and two desserts. That was excellent value for money.
There’s a single unisex toilet at the back. It was clean and well stocked, although the 1980s hand dryer could do with an upgrade.
Via della Spiga is conveniently located next door to the North Sydney train station on Blue Street. Parking in the near vicinity can be a little tricky, although we managed to find something near the Coles on Walker Street where there are no weekend restrictions.
Overall, I liked this little restaurant. It’s a cheerful and friendly place, with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The food is fresh and tasty, and served in decent portions and the prices are reasonable. Service was tad slow on a busy Sat night, but despite that, this place is worth a return visit.

We were able to get takeaway during this lockdown. Creamy chicken pasta, Caesar salad and the lasagna- all super delicious. It was a nice surprise the lasagna was with pulled beef … made it feel that much more exotic. If you haven’t tried the food then give it a go … you won’t be disappointed! 👍♥️
C. a. M.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR PIZZA AND PASTA. I’ve only ever tried their pizza (came highly recommended) but finally tried their pasta too! The pizza base is light, thin and oh so crispy. It’s better than some of the pizza’s I had in Italy.
T. E.
Absolutely lovely food, great service and reasonably priced. Best pasta I've had in Sydney in a long time! Everyone else in our group also loved their meals.
M. E.
We had a lovely family lunch there on Saturday. The waiter had a great flair and sense of humour. We ordered a daily special and a few pasta dishes and did not get disappointed. Would return again.
R. W.
What can I say other than amazing food with friendly helpful service. We make Via Della Spiga our go to restaurant every time we travel to Sydney, cannot wait for the current travel restrictions to be removed so we can enjoy the delights of Via Della Spiga.
K. L.
Via Della Spiga offers delicious and authentic Italian prepared and served by its warm and friendly owners. It's a great place for a post-lockdown get-together with work colleagues and friends. Bring on October!
S. G.
The Meals have never dissapointed us at Via Della Spiga, and every time we are in Sydney we look forward to a few meals and the great service and a good catch up with the team,Regards Shaun and Annette ,Albury NSW.

Always visit here when I need to come to Sydney for work. The staff are always super friendly and the food is perfect. Love the Spaghetti Aglio !!
N. B.
Pizza worth eating true to what pizza is. A very visit worthy family run place!!!!
S. T. R.
Love the staff and their helpful attitude for all my many requests and calls about catering - the food was tasty, generous and great selections. Choosing them made my event so much easier!
S. W.
Great food and friendly service. The best lasagna we have ever had. We look forward to coming back
Y. B. Y.
BEST traditional tiramisu. Did a takeaway and totally loved it! Will definitely go back to give a try to pizza, pasta and also their homemade pasta sauce!
L. R.
I read about Via Della Spiga in the Northsider magazine and how it holds a certificate for over 95% of food coming directly from Italy... I was intrigued. I ordered some takeaway tiramisu and it was incredible. Best tiramisu!
T. P.
Love it! Great food in a relaxed and friendly environment. Have come here on various occasions (i.e. family, friends, business) as well as takeaway.
T. R.
Finally a good takeaway pizza definitely worth $12.
S. S.
The food here is very good. The atmosphere is very nice and perfect for dates.
I. S.
Have been there twice with the half price offer on Dimmi website. A great economic deal with delicious pizza and steak! Nice atmosphere and service!
N. H.
Honestly, perfect. Lovely food, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. Great to see it so busy coming out of Covid and certainly a great start to our night. Only 4 stars as I wish I would have ordered more, maybe next time!
D. A.
Always friendly and funny - food sensation like a party in ya mouth.....Tiramasu is a life experience never to be forgotten!!!!!
C. L.
Love this place! The owners are lovely and get to know you. It’s the place to be for italian in North Sydney.
R. A.
Not sure what their names are but the main server and the chef were extremely pleasant. It made me feel like I was at a family dinner with one of my Italian friends. Pizza was decent, had a small milano but would be keen to try other dishes on the menu. Thanks for a good lunch!
C. N.
Great pizza and service, and a pretty good wine list!
C. D.
Very friendly staff reasonable prices. Good Pasta. Garlic bread could have been a bit better.
N. E.
Great atmosphere. Wonderful food, well priced for serving size and good quality. The staff were absolutely lovely. They were friendly, attentive and very patient with us, as we stayed until closing. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
On Tuesday, they offer all you can eat pasta and pizza for ~$25pp.
F. a. P. S.
The spaghetti and bolognaise sauce are amazing! Starters aren’t that good. The olives are small and not pitted so it’s mostly stone. I’m giving this place a 5 star rating because Shaun is so charming and has incredible energy. Really made our experience great
Q. O. L.
Certainly 4 stars. Staff maintains a high food quality standard. We were after a quick dinner and work debriefing. And although there were large groups dining, we were still served properly and on time. It seems that this restaurant has it all under control. I like the open atmosphere during summer and the food is of good quality. Price/value seems in balance.
E. R.
Beautiful food! So cosy and welcoming! Highly recommend!
C. B.
Food is delicious and fresh.. service is friendly and helpful . Highly recommend
Y. Y.
Reasonable not fancy food. No brag about. Truely family friendly ambience. Comfortable relax.
D. K.
Great service. Gnocchi and the Tiramisu was amazing. Bruschetta was really fresh. Wide variety of Vegetarian options as well. Will be back!
K. M.
Closes at 9pm but dine in is not available at 8:30pm :/ will try again next time
T. C.
Good value pizzas and service in a relaxed atmosphere
E. H.
I would definitely come back again. The food and atmosphere we're fantastic!
J. D. L. C.
Jenny and Yuri always are welcoming and their service is above and beyond.
The food is delicious and authentic Italian .. Best Gnocchi in town.
Great service and menu for groups and events.
Can't wait to be back !
D. A.
Excellent food and service in this busy restaurant.
I have been ordering from Via della Spiga for takeaway pizza for the last six months (it is seriously the best pizza i've had to memory) and I decided to go to the restaurant with a friend to try out the rest of the menu for dinner. We had a very enjoying meal, there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the service was very friendly and attentive. It’s probably a good idea to book ahead at this popular restaurant
R. M.
This is a worthy successor to Capitanos which was a fixture in North Sydney for many years. The food is genuine Italian. Not a huge range of dishes apart from the pizza and pasta but all done well and delicious. My favourite is the gnocchi but my wife goes for the lasagna.
M. S.
This little family owned restaurant in North Sydney is going to surprise you. Awesome simple Italian food. Great pizzas and fresh pasta (the spaghetti bolognaise is quite special) and some nice Italian wines! Stroll in and you won't be disappointed!
A. S.
When you actually get into the kitchen of a restaurant, put your hands on the raw ingredients and listen to how the chef handles them and delivers his cooking, there is really nothing to hide and everything is on display. First of all, fresh fresh fresh ingredients and the top quality as you would expect in a proper Italian kitchen. Second, the taste and attention to quality, the nuances of spice and flavor. Lastly, service with authentic love for the product being delivered. At the end of the day, this is a restaurant that serves real food prepared by real people who expect satisfaction from their customers. Go. Eat. Enjoy.
I. T.
My friend and I went there for lunch and got the lunch specials. Good portions for us. Food Came out quickly and it taste really refreshing. Pizza taste a lot better than some of the expensive ones in Greenwood. Will come back and try the pasta next time :)
V. M.
Spontaneous lunch. We ordered Treviso pizza and carbonara pasta (it had cream) from the $10 lunch menu.. both meals were delicious. Clearly popular lunchtime place as we were given the only free table. Prompt if slightly brusque service, they were extremely busy. Would definitely return.
A. L.
I have been actively ordering my morning and afternoon coffee from no place but here in the last 1.5 year. From all the coffee joints in North Sydney this is in fact the best and friendliest place I'm happy to wait for.
Jenny you are always patient and accommodating to my day, myself as an individual and i appreciate you going above and beyond helping me with being lactose intolerant to enjoy the coffee!
I am absolutely addicted to the bacon and egg roll and the morning breakfast deal all around.
Juri i love that you can remember not just my orders but also my colleagues that are now loyal to your business as you are with us!
Would recommend their menu from the small bites, coffee, service and delicious pizza but more importantly the excellence in welcoming us as an individual rather than a transaction! See you soon for my regular coffee buzz!
Warmest Wishes,
- Ansela

An absolute gem!! Brilliant family run restaurant with awesome service. Food is awesome and genuine. The Calzone is to die for!!
i. m.
Fantastic little Italian restaurant the service is great the atmosphere is wonderful and the food is marvellous and super fresh. Highly recommended
P. R.
We went there for dinner today! Food, ambiance, service - all good
C. H.
Great to get food that's still hot when it gets to the table that has plenty of flavour and quality ingredients. I had the payella and it was filled with meaty prawns, mussels and chorizo and not just rice. The house made tiramisu was well balanced and the staff were sincere and welcoming.
D. P.
A great restaurant - conveniently located near North Sydney station, the pizzas are made with thin bases and the right amount of toppings, a great array of drinks and the most efficient and friendly service.
C. T.
I love this place. The lunch menu is incredible value. The food is unpretentious but delicious. Jenny and Yuri are fantastic. They remember all the little things you love from one visit to the next.
A. T.
The pizza crust was great. Thin crisp airy. The marinara pasta was al dente and had really good seafood and sauce. The gelato we had was good too especially the pistachio.
J. M.
Hi Steve Franklin, I am surprised with your comment since we have nothing frozen and all our produce is fresh and delivered daily. In fact, the only frozen item is our gelato. We have only received positive reviews which is evident through repeat customers who continue to comment that the food has stepped up and we have been told that we have one of the best pizzas in Sydney. Regarding the crappy phone call, not sure what this about. We would love you to come to the restaurant and introduce yourself so we can possibly show our fresh produce.
Stefano, another surprising comment since you have not visited the restaurant as yet or received any deliveries, which we track. However, again we would love you to come in and taste our food.
Steve, yes I have reviewed as the restaurant as I eat here and love the food. Which is what my comment is based on.
We always like to read helpful reviews but when they are not based on facts, we will respond.
Thanks
A. W.
Great food and friendly people. I’ve been in a few times now and genuinely look forward to going. I particularly like the pasta dishes. Home made and wholesome.
J. D.
If you don't feel like battling the noisy mess of the Greenwood Plaza food court then give Via Della Spiga a go. The coffee is not the best around but it is ok and the food is pretty standard Italian cafe stuff but the couple that run it are lovely, genuinely friendly people and it is quiet with plenty of places to sit and chill. Good for lunch meetings or a quiet meal.
T. B.
I love this place! Their food is fantastic and I often come here to have dinner with my wife. Absolutely lovely pizza, can't wait to go back!
D. L.
It was very refreshing to stumble apon, what can only be described as Norths Sydney's hidden Gem, Via Della Spiga.
Relatively new to the area I was yearning for Fresh Italian faire I had been missing since relocating from the Inner West.
I am impressed by the Fresh Produce and the Pasta that is all made on the premises. The Authenticity of the quality of the food stems from The Owner , who is not only Italian and also the head chef.
What I love most , is I can pop by for a Coffee on the the way to work and on the way home I can have dinner there with the added bonus of being able to order a Pizza if I am staying back at work late, which they can deliver if your in the local area!!
T. L.
Attended the cooking class with my friend for her birthday on Saturday and had a ball. Yuri was very patient and helpful, generously handing over his kitchen to amateurs! We learned a lot, had a fantastic time, topped off with eating a delicious meal at the end. Thanks Yuri for your wonderful teaching and generosity. Would highly recommend to everyone A+++
c. r.
Amazing place. My husband and I dined here frequently during our stay. You can't get more authentic. Thank you for your hospitality and the extra canolli you let us pay for the next time we came in 😁
F. P.
Great service. Great food.
S. S.
The food is fantastic, pizzas are great authentic style! Service is always really fantastic and welcoming! A lovely casual place to have a great meal.
R. L.
Good simple tasty Italian food. It's my usual meeting place in North Sydney. The staff are very friendly and a right amount of good humour and good service.
W. R.
Really enjoyed our meal here. It's the classic Italian restaurant - you feel welcome (and loved) the moment you step inside. Would most definitely eat here again.
Google makes this place really hard to find: unlike most of the other restaurants, it only shows it as a tiny little dot when search for either "restaurant north sydney" or "italian restaurant north sydney". Lucky I noticed them as we was crossing the road. Worse still, when you zoom in, the big marker for another business basically sits over their tiny dot. Shame on you Google.
A. F.
Everything here is worth trying. The ragu lasagne is delicious and the pizza's are great too! Overall, great food and a great atmosphere!
P. C.

A cute family run restraunt nice pasta!!
D. L.
The most authentic and fresh Italian Faire this side do the Harbour Bridge. The Head chef himself is from Milan and all sauces and Pasta are made on the premises. Some Evenings Juri actually works on the floor, you ca see the joy on his face when he explains what’s on the menu.I always asked what he recommends cause quite frankly I cannot make a decision. I have introduced many business people to this establishment who are from out of town. Only to find they have eaten Breakfast Lunch and Dinner when they stay in Sydney at Via Della Spina...During the Summer months I encourage you to book..simply because on busy nights you may have to wait for a table....BELLISIMO!!!
N. R.
Excellent food, real ingredients used, fresh, tasty and authentic. The cooking class is fun and very informative. It teaches you to make pasta from scratch!
R. F.
Ordered lasagna and pasta sauce, both were amazing. Authentic Italian dishes. Would definitely recommend.

Nice Italian place to eat. Pizzas and Pastas mainly. If you go for lunch, you can get lunch size pasta or pizza for 10 AUD. But the pizza portion is a bit small.
