Loved visiting! They have amazing marinated meats especially the MUST TRY boneless beef short ribs which we ordered twice. It's delicious either accomodating staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The only downside is the price but it's worth it for celebrations and with larger groups! Also be sure to arrive early or book as it can get quite busy. (The pork ribs are also pretty good! )

Booking in advance is essential to avoid long waiting time although this food was definitely worth the ~20 mins waiting time. My favorite is the yukke and I always feel like one bowl is never enough 🤤 the beef finger rib and ox tongue are also recommended!

An incredible atmosphere and wonderful place for Japanese bbq! The meat was high quality and so soft. The staff were mostly Japanese too which I appreciate. There is no buffet option so is good for groups who don’t want to eat too much! Make sure you book as it can be very busy.

I tried ox tongue, outskirts, short ribs, rib fingers with wasabi and cold noodles. I highly recommend the ox tongue, that was best of all, and I don't recommend to try the wasabi one and cold noodles. I don't see any good of that wasabi thing, and cold noodles' taste was bit weak compared to the cold noodles that I had from Korean BBQ restaurants. Overall pretty good.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant.The food is always fantastic and reasonable price! No matter what I order I am always happy with my meal! Me and my partner went there and wait quite a while to get a table for two. Not the charcoal fire Japanese bbq, lil bit disappointed, price is bit high for two people we paid 75$ to get two plates of beef and 5 of side dishes, over all it’s still a pretty nice bbq restaurant! Full of Japanese elements near this place! The sushi cross this restaurant r also very good , they r under the elevator , near the Daiso shop.

Similar to a Korean BBQ, this is a great place where you can put your cooking skills to the test. If you are lazy or simply no good at cooking, you can just order a set where the meat is already cooked for you. I have tried both ways and the food was excellent here. What stood out for me about this restaurant is that they have good quality meat as well as a good range of offals like intestine, liver, tongue that are great for BBQ and go well with alcohol. TIP: There is a very unique matcha-flavoured beer from Kyoto that is a must-try.

A bit overrated. I have heard a lot of positive reviews of this place. Decided to try out myself. Made a booking, requested for a time and the staff was nice to confirm the booking. They called on the day to confirm the booking. The service wasn't great. You can order on an iPad with multilingual menus and the waiter/waitress would come and dump the dishes on the table. Very crowded with limited space. Strict 90mins dining time. They start the timer the moment you enter the restaurant. Watching the timer ticking definitely made the experience worse. Great food but tiny portions. Menu items were not expensive, but you would need to order more dishes due to smaller portion size. Quite authentic Japanese. They have a wide variety of specialised dishes. Something more interesting than other not so authentic "Japanese" restaurants. Worth trying once. I probably won't visit again.

I have been to this restaurant three times. The quality of BBQ meat is the best! MUST TRY! However the lunch bento’s boneless beef short rib is different. They are much much tougher, so if you want to have good one don’t order bento. The waiter/waitress made my jacket a mess without mentioning that. I just noticed the stain（looks like oil）when I left. Very Disappointed

Definitely a quality Japanese Barbecue place! Looks authentic and taste authentic. I like the shop design, which has drawn fair amount of crowd here. The premium beef (tendon loin) are great but the normal grade ones (ox tongue) are impressive enough too! You get the 5th side dishes free when you order the first 4. Portions are just fine. Customer services are good and drinks are pricewise: Not cheap but it’s well worth it!

Some of the best Wagyu you can get, Soo good !!! The sides are quite pricey but the meat is pretty well priced so it evens out. Staff are friendly, book in advance to get a table cause the lines can get pretty long.

Had an enjoyable meal at Yakiniku Yokocho. The meat was very tasty and delicious. We ordered 3 small portions of meats and one side + large rice to share between 2 people. With beer $65 in total. It was perfect for us. Highly recommend the Boneless Beef Rib and Pork Neck. Not so much the outskirt which was in comparison more chewy. It’s a cozy little place and staff was very attentive and fast with service. If you go rush hour might need to wait. It is very popular. The place does get a bit smokey when it’s full, the ventilation tubes weren’t as effective as it should be. We will surely return, this looks to be a keeper and an awesome regular spot to eat. Note that the BBQ is with gas not charcoal. And 90 mins meal time limit, which was more than enough for us.

Yakiniku Yokocho is a great little bbq place on the bottom level of regent place shopping centre. You may have to wait a little while for your table but you can browse the shops whilst you wait. It’s a touch screen order menu and you can order your selection of meat and sides to cook yourself on the bbq grill in front of you. You receive an array of sauces to flavour your meat, though with such good quality meat, it isn’t really needed. We ordered a few sides and enjoyed the salad as well as some sashimi. You can order highball cocktails and also beers. A great little dinner location.

The Japanese efficiency shines through. Very prompt service and really delicious meals! Side dishes fish cake, karaage and edamame is really nice and freshly made. Quality of beef and the way their grills are setup means that you don't have to come out smelling like barbeque. They have chicken, beef and pork which is really good for people who doesn't eat meat. They also have different kinds of drinks alcohol and non-alcoholic which are very refreshing. Good venue to catch up with big crowds.

Finally reviewing after countless visits. Product offerings are what you would expect at a yakiniku restaurant. The price is quite affordable and I would suggest booking in advance to secure a table on weekends. There’s a 90 minute time limit and the dining area can be pretty cramped when at capacity.

Don't (do) be trapped by the touch screen menu. Easy to carried away ordering delicious dish after dish. In saying that, the edamame with garlic and chilli was outstanding. Agadashi tofu was excellent. Enoki with beef tongue is worth a try. Scallops very creamy but very tasty. Shiitake with meat (entré) also great. Overall..... we kept ordering more and overall was very satisfied. Oh yeah...... the sake trolley came by and we couldn’t resist. Just saying!

An excellent and authentic Japanese BBQ experience with a vibrant atmosphere. We booked for a group of 6 and visited on a Monday night at 8pm. The tables are elongated, and this means you may have to share part of your table, but that was ok with us. The drinks menu had a variety of imported drinks at reasonable prices. For us, we ordered a couple rounds of Sapporo and tried the strawberry ice cream sour (was this alcoholic? Didn’t taste like it, was very easy drinking and enjoyable nonetheless). The main highlights of dinner were the beef boneless short rib, beef tongue, and the beef finger. These were amazingly tender and fatty. The pork belly and chicken thigh were mediocre, and probably would have been good had they not been overshadowed by the holy cow. For sides we opted for the buy 4 have 1 free, and had 2 salmon sashimi, 2 chicken karaage and 1 octopus karaage. These were alright. We will visit again and most likely stick to the beef items on the menu.

One of my favourite Japanese bbq place. I've been there more than 5 times and the food tastes always fantastic. Service is nice and their ordering system is intuitive. Excellent Japanese BBQ restaurant! I ate 5 times here for dinner and lunch, and their quality of food and service are always very good! Actually their quality of meat is even better than average of Japanese BBQ restaurants in Japan. I recommend this place to people would like to enjoy real Japanese BBQ.

Get quality when it comes to JBBQ The highlights of this place was the speed of service and food quality. Their Ox Tongue isn't the usual thin slices that cooks in 1 second, and as such it holds a bit more flavour. The price is about $50pp, and although it is not a BBQ buffet place, I would dare say it is competitive to Suminoya that offers JBBQ buffet for $50-60pp. The interior is nice and friendly towards groups, but may not be the vibe you want for a private date. Cool note was that they chill their glasses so your drink doesn't warm too quick. Overall a nice place that is convenient to get to in the heart of the city.

The good stuff: Their BBQ meats are mostly good quality, especially the premium wagyu short-rib though a bit expensive but worth the price. The ox-tongues are good also. The dipping sauces are great, I love them all. The tablet ordering system is efficient and easy to navigate the extensive menu. Services and ambience are reasonable. Not so good stuff: Long queue, should try to make a reservation to avoid this problem. Pork neck meat is a bit tough and dry. The place is a bit tight due to seating arrangement and hard to eat in such small space especially with limited seating time of 90 minutes in the weekend. They use gas fuel for BBQ while I prefer other Japanese / Korean BBQ which uses charcoal for better BBQ aroma.

Our first time here. The boneless short rib set lunch is delicious, the meat is cooked just right, medium rare. Try their Motsuni, the texture and the spiciness is spot on. The salmon and tuna sashimi is reasonable. A five star rating if water is provided in bottle/jug instead of just one small cup per person. We'll be back to try other choices.

You know a yakiniku place is good when 9/10 times we have come, Japanese-speaking customers are seated next to us! Great selection of beers, amazingly juicy meats, a good range of of melt-in-your-mouth wagyu, freshening sashimi salads and the best atmosphere/decor of any yakiniku restaurant in all of Sydney! This is my new go-to place for Japanese BBQ!

Tucked in the basement level of Regents place, nice little Japanese BBQ, or yakiniku as it is known in Japanese. The meat cuts are nicely marinated and very tender and juicy on bbq. Attentive service. And we came out without any traces or smell of smoke! Amazing!

Food Good quality meat, generous serving, rice again good quality but a bit dry, soup and salad tasty but perhaps too salty for some. Salad seemed to have been dressed using one of the meat sauces. We’ve noticed that each cut of meat was rather inconsistent in thickness, making it difficult to cook evenly. Rengaya/Suminoya/Koh-ya does best at cutting their meats at an even thickness by partly freezing them first. Sauce consisted of processed lemon juice which ruined the taste of the ox tongue, giving it an artificial, detergent-like aftertaste. The other two sauces were spicy? Sweet? In other words, not so memorable. Soy-based marinade sweet but not much flavour otherwise, Miso marinade so sweet/strong that made my blood-sugar level go through the roof. I personally prefer the sauces/marinades of Kashiwa Yakiniku in Crows Nest and the tasty salt marinade of Nikaido Neutral bay. Service Friendly and polite although it was very hard to catch the attention of the waitress as we were sitting on the far end of the restaurant, even though the place was relatively quiet during lunchtime. Perhaps invest in a calling buzzer? Waitresses should double check their order to minimise errors. Ambience Lovely decor and clean interior. However, the music was a never-ending loop of a koto-arranged Ghibli soundtrack which irritated me a bit. Would’ve liked a bit more repertoire outside ghibli. There is more to like about traditional Japanese music. Conclusion A satisfying lunch with a generous serving of excellent quality meat but I’d rather BYO my own Ebara yakiniku sauce.

Then look no further, Yakiniku Yokocho bring a little bit of japan to YOU right here in Sydney! With imported decoration and an vending machines with Japanese drinks it doesn’t get any better than that!
