Comments of Yebisu Bar & Grill
A. N.
Lovely spot for dates and small groups, with tablet menus, broad selection of Western / Japanese drinks and foods. Definitely a great drinking and bar food spot to drop as part of the Sydney Nightlife. Decor and ambience well fitting with smooth jazz and care placed in creating a great environment for dining
M. C.
Not the biggest fan of the $17 alcoholic OJ and the food was quite expensive for the portion. Staff were nice and friendly.
L. M.
cold udon with tempura was my favourite, very generous. small portions of meat, but the sashimi was good value.
H. L.
Good food and good beer. Perfect place to meet up with friends and share some food.

I've come to Yebisu many times over the past couple years and I've always loved the atmosphere they provide there! The service has always been outstanding and I never leave feeling disappointed. Whilst the food is a little pricey, the servings are very reasonable and I don't mind paying the little bit extra for the experience that you get overall. I have never been treated rudely by staff nor have I ever felt upset at their level of service. I love this place and love supporting their business! Their fusion food is also really delicious! I definitely recommend you check it out at least once. It's such a gem:)

Good place good Sushi. Premium ambiance and decor. A little expensive for the portion quantity. But worth the ambiance and vibe.
C.
Had high expectations from the high reviews but honestly it isn’t that great. There are other better value Japanese restaurants. Disappointed with the proportions and taste of the sushi. However their prawn tempura and vibe of the overall place was nice.
M. C.
A bit pricy for its small portion but the food and service are definitely above average. Highly recommend to people who are looking for quality Japanese food and chill.

If you're in Sydney, don't miss out on this place! The food was amazing and the Sake collection was as impressive as tasty. We received a recommendation by the manager and fell in love with the sake he chose for us. When we left we asked for the name of our waitresses, Yoshi.
Her hospitality was one of a kind. Seriously, I never had such a friendly hostess! Thank you to everyone for this experience. Definetly worth 5 Stars! (Visited on 15.11 around 5.30pm)

Fun Japanese restaurant for a night out in Chinatown. You order from the iPad and everything is served to you which is convenient. Service was friendly and pretty good despite how busy it was for a weekend night. Atmosphere is quite loud and bustling. The seafood did not disappoint, my friends and I were satisfied with our dining experience.
H. C.
We came for the beef and wine festival. It was very festive. The beef hotpot was delicious. I was blown away by the hotpot broth! It was sweet and bold. The flavours were amazing. The yakitori was awesome too. All the dishes were great. The special items for the festival were great (and cheap). Definitely worth a visit. The food was delivered quickly and the staff were very efficient. The decor was bright and vibrant too!
R. T.
The yebisu lunch Bento Box was good however they didn't have the Wagyu beef so gave us teriyaki chicken instead. Overall a god experience but food seemed to take a while to arrive.
M. L.
Prices seem steep, but portions are actually pretty good, as well as quality, so it’s all fair. The chicken skin udon we got was the highlight imo. The ramen broth was too salty, the ramen noodles were ok but not fresh, the toppings were good though. The tuna sashimi literally melted in my mouth. So good!
S.
Amazing JAPANESE restaurant. You'll get the real Japanese experience here. The seats are great as it's open window. A nice breeze blowing through. Prices are very worth it, they're also cheap. $20 filled up the entire family until we were almost sick lol, we had fun figuring out all the things. It's an amazing atmosphere, extremely aesthetic, very real food. I really recommend you go here. Good job to the the amazing sashimi chef's and staff which are very kind.
これはすごい!エビスバーとグリルがだいすきです!
L. L.
Nice atmosphere with good decor & decent food. Yakitori is a bit pricey so it really adds up fast before you're full. Has chicken skin yakitori which ive never seen on any Sydney Japanese restaurants which is great as we loved it in Japan. Sashimi could be better. Eggplant agedashi & soft bone chicken karaage with curry powder are stand-outs.

Excellent service, excellent quality very good place…
A. L.
Was really excited to try here since their sister chain in Town Hall is so so good, but was a little disappointed. Authentic feel, nice decor and friendly staff, but the grilled yakitoris were a little dry and unflavoursome. Chicken skin expected to be super juicy and salthy but was a bit burnt and dry. The egg I thought would be soft and fluffy but was stringy and in layers. Might have been staff in training as we watched them do the charcoal grilling and seemed to be struggling with a fish over the flame.

Great location just off Dixon Street. I attended around lunchtime and as there wasn't many other people in the restaurant finding a table was super easy. Food was great and they have a massive selection of drinks, I feel you are best to go around dinner time though as the dinner menu looks to be much better.
B. C.
This place is fantastic!
A hidden gem of wonderful Japanese food on Dixon St, the heart of China Town.
A small entrance on the pedestrian mall leads you upstairs to an amazing escape from the hustle & bustle of the city. Japanese themed paintings including pop culture adorn the brick walls, while the ceilings are covered in paintings of flowers.
You can order yourself using the electronic menu on each table.
Service is fast, food is excellent, and prices are very reasonable.
A must try!
C. C.
Atmosphere was good, the decorations were great, food was average and a bit pricey. We've ordered sushi deluxe and grilled calamari and two drinks for $66. The calamari was yummy and flavoursome, sushi was edible but not wow. This restaurant is good for drinks & snack but not so much for dinner.
L. F. A.
We can all agree that Japanese food is always a temptation for our food cravings. Especially when in a crowd, deciding WHICH Japanese food you'd want can be stressful or complicated!
Between yakitori, ramen, sushi, sukiyaki, rice dishes or fried food such as takoyaki or karaage, there's something for everyone (even the picky) 😁.
P. N.
We've been here a few times, the food is delicious and the staff are nice too. We haven't ordered anything yet that we don't like. Most recently we had the salmon belly yakitori, salmon fried rice, chilli and garlic edamame, the sushi deluxe platter, matcha cheese cake and flower tea.
K. M. C.
Great great vibe here with spectacular wall art!!! The Mocktail - peach & berry was awesome, definitely recommend to those who don't drink alcohol lol. The grill BBQ combo was economical, that's a good choice if u don't have space for extra heaviness, u can have them as tasty snacks🍢🍡 the staffs here r super nice n helpful ~~~ Can't wait to try something new next time hey

A 'Hidden' Japanese Gem in Chinatown. After going to our regular yum char and finding it too busy , we were looking for an alternative for lunch and we are so happy we found Yebisu.
It's an upstairs restaurant (with stairs and lift access) and is very open and airy. The staff are very friendly and efficient.
You place your orders using a tablet at your table and the drinks and food arrived swiftly.
I love Japanese cuisine and this was my first time having Chirashi, it was delicious! (Sushi rice with sashimi style fish - cooked)
Great value , tasty food and enjoyable atmosphere, we will definitely return 😉
M. L.
Nice food, good service. It's a shame the food comes one at a time not when all meals a ready. Other than that nice place and decent prices.
D. R.
Great place to sample many Japanese delicacies. The sake is great. Great service. Friendly manager who came to the table to chat with us. Thanks for a great night.
Y.
Busy place with loud music and attentive staff shouting in Japanese. They wore big smiles serving the table. The seafood was fresh but I love the grilled skewers. Most of them got great flavour and nice texture, especially the king oyster mushroom. So yummy! However, the chicken skin and soft bones weren't as crispy as I expected. There were lumpy fat and skin on the soft bone which were hard to swallow.
w. L.
Went on a Saturday night date here just last week. The staff were quick and attentive. We noticed a few times that the music sounded like the connection was poor; the volume kept fluctuating and sounds cut in and out. The food came in a choppy order but still met standard expectations (everything came much sooner than our two bowls of plain rice). The mixed sashimi main was a lovely selection. The pieces weren't impressively sized in any way but this was typical of such a chain. The pan fried gyozas
were served on a bed of grilled beansprouts; I wasn't a fan but my date was. All of the nigiri were very expensive but the one scallop dish we chose was nice. Lastly the vegetable tempura was exactly what we expected, plus even a small serving of grated radish on the plate.
In conclusion, I probably wouldn't be back. Despite the easy sitting space the menu felt too expensive for the value/basic level, the table for two was terribly small and I felt a bit dissatisfied with the menu.

This is 2nd outlet of the popular Yebisu Izakaya restaurant on the George Street. I love the original outlet with their happy beer and sake sessions in the evening accompanied by their very good kushi-yaki meat skewers. In this 2nd outlet, I mostly visit for weekday's lunches and they have very good value lunch sets and daily specials (very recommended). I have tried many of the regular staples like the eel rice box, wagyu steak sets but I would recommend you to try their "rare items" like their pork shoga-yaki (ginger pork) set and omu-rice set. These items along with beef hamburg set are the staple of lunch meal for Japanese salary-men and are very rare to be included in any Japanese restaurant in Australia or at least, very rare to be prepared at THIS GOOD level.
Food quality: 3/5
Value: 4/5
Ambience / Service: 5/5
Please note that this outlet is similar to their closest competitor Yayoi group in that they're using tablet computer system of food/drink ordering so it is very fast and efficient. The place has good spaces and not squeezy. A rare Japanese food gem smack in the middle of Sydney Chinatown.
Additional Note / Edit: The place recently changed their lunch menu items and they removed the favorite items I mentioned above ton shogayaki and omuraisu. I have tried a few items from the new menu like the poke bowl and BBQ Pork Bowl sets and they're quite good but not as good as the items from old lunch menu. The BBQ Pork sauce is too heavy, sweet and sticky for my liking and the Ginger Pork (shogayaki) in the old lunch menu has better, subtler and more umami-based taste. Please bring the old lunch menu back for your loyal customers.
I also tried their BBQ and skewer dishes at dinner recently and found the dishes were a mixed-bag. The wagyu skewers and mini-grill were good quality but the pork-belly skewers and the BBQ king fish w/ miso were a bit let-down due to being too dry and not tasty enough. The omu-rice were also not good since the rice texture was a bit rough / dried.
In light of the new dishes I've tried, I reduce their rating from 5-stars to 3-stars for food quality.
V. H.
Excellent quality,very well priced omakase
R. D.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. The jazz music makes for a great vibe. The staff are so friendly. Food is amazing. Highly recommend.
A. G.
The customer service and atmosphere was incredible. The food went above and beyond as well. Had a great time, very memorable
H. D.
Food was ok and need to wait around 20-30min at pick up hour , very lite taste of Japan . Cocktail can try and whisky high ball was so good .new iPad touch order system was quick and effective .yakitori was expensive and small amount , not enough to share .
R. M.
Food was really excellent and fun to order in small-plate style using a tablet kiosk at each table. Service was great and cheerfully done:)
R. S.
Love the decor and atmosphere. It uses the typical tablet self ordering system to the open kitchen. Food was fast and fresh.
F. P.
Medium to expensive. Food is average but not bad.
Service is good and place is spacious and nicely done. Quite busy during dinner time.
C. U.
I come here everyday. The boss and assistants are enthusiatic to serve me. Their food is ideal Japanese food for me,and the sake is also tasty. I hope that I can visit Japan to eat food one day after eating here. :)
ありがとうございます!

Great! The service was friendly and very cute... Especially one of them... Haha food was tasty had the right amount of flavor. Easy ordering and also split bills is possible. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves Japan or anime.
B.
Cozy spot in the heart of chinatown. Love the atmosphere and art inside which makes this place unique compared to other Japanese restaurants.
Great for groups as you can select a wide variety of share plates and/or hot pot.
C. L.
Yummo! Great location, easy access for stroller. We had sukiyaki hot pot, assorted yakitori set, and igirini. Gotta order their chicken soft bone and chicken skin. 👍🏻
S. L.
We had the best night for our anniversary! The food was fantastic and the wait staff super friendly! Thanks again 🙏
G. H.
I went there on Sunday and tried the Eel lunch set. It's the best Eel set that I have ever tried in Sydney. It has Eel tempura (very delicious), Eel sushi, Eel salad, Eel Chiwanmushi & my favourite Eel egg rice. The staffs are very nice and friendly there. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. I highly recommend this Eel set! It's just great!
D. J.
Walked in off the street without a booking on Friday night, seated & and eating in under 20 mins. Staff was very friendly, food was great and worth five stars in my opinion.
M. A.
Visited this restaurant yesterday for take away, unfortunately I couldn't dine in but the service was fantastic-as you can expect with Japanese, the décor of the restaurant looked like an authentic Japanese restaurant and the food was sensational, I cannot wait to dine in here
D. Y.
Was overall an okay experience. Nothing to fault but nothing to rave about. Food on the pricier side for what it is.
A. M.
Great lunch menu, don't over order the meal deals are good sizes
A. H.
Fantastic atmosphere...great service and delicious choice of dishes...
Highly recommended 👌
J. X.
Went there for a lunch. The $17 noddles with egg fried rice plus a glass of Suntroy Pilsner beer seems been a great choice for me. Sufficient food on potion-wise. The environment is interesting and real Japanese chefs cooking there.
C.
A tad pricey but still enjoyable and with a really nice atmosphere. Restaurant layout gets bonus points
a. l.
Authentic japanese restaurant . I had the eel lunch special. Eel was average but the yuzu pepper just lifts the flavor. Price was reasonable for the quality of food given.
J. Q.
Came here for a late dinner. The atmosphere was really good and the staff were quick, efficient and friendly. We ordered and ate a wide variety of food. Due to the iPad menu, it’s super easy to get carried away ordering more and more food, so be wary of that haha.
From memory, some of the food we got included- chicken skewer (cooked well, tender and slipped off the bone), salmon nigiri, scallops and kingfish nigiri (all very smooth cuts and good texture), mixed omelette (the omelette with the fish roe or something inside was a bit funky, but otherwise, a nice fluffy omelette), salmon aburi (really liked this one!! Would highly recommend), salmon and avo rolls (standard), and chicken and avo rolls (also pretty standard). I also like how you can order water from the iPad!
Would recommend coming here maybe in a larger group so you can try more things :)
T. T.
Rating is very much for the ambiance. Great selection of beverages and cool ordering system.
Food was average and yakitori had a bit of an aftertaste unlike other yakitori joints.
M. H.
Really good food here and the settings are really nice. Been here a few times for lunch, surprised it hasn't taken off, will try to revisit during nighttime or happy hours.
J. S.
3 of us went there for lunch. Food is fantastic.
Went there for work lunch.
They accept AMEX & participate in ShopSmall, and can split payment.
M.
Fantastic oriental Japanese restaurant. Fresh and such a funky restaurant in Sydney. Would recommend to everyone !!
T. B. (.
Awesome food and great atmosphere. Cant wait to go back!
N. H.
Feel like the food is quite over priced, especially the sushi. However the taste and quality is very basic. We ordered wagyu steak on hot stone but it doesnt really meet the expectation. Also got a okonomiyaki for $18 but what we got was half of a full okonomiyaki, and it came pretty quick so it probably is premade, nothing special with the taste also.
C. C.
The food is a bit expensive and the wait for your is quite long. The staff are kind and the food is nice but maybe the price can be a bit cheaper as it will make the experience much nicer and more people might come. :)
C. L.
We had a great time here. Food was great and service was friendly.
M. B.
Recently, I have visited Japan and really enjoyed Sukiyaki. Bumped into this joint and I have to say it was awesome. Nice vibe, friendly staff, great food
R. L.
My partner and I went there for our date night, we had a fabulous time. It was our first time there, and the service we received was tremendous. We were served by Fusao (I believe he was the manager), he was very engaging, friendly and informative, he provided us with some tips on some of the Sake option to go with our meal. Food, drinks and the service was amazing. Will definitely be going back.
J. A.
Delicious food that came out very quickly. Cool lively place!
J. G.
Very nice atmosphere.food is nice but not amazing. Good place to grab a drink.
J. K.
Excellent food and quick service
Really chill and unique decor
Was there with a group of friends and i took my 2 yr old with me and had a great night.
My daughter enjoyed herself as well
J. G. A.
A very nice Japanese restaurant in the centre of Chinatown.
J. L.
Great service. Their housemade curry is a must-try, never had it better from any other Japanese restaurant
Lunch set menus have all declined in serving size, numbers of accoutrements have reduced per set and sometimes you don't get everything showing on the menu
C. B.
One of the best Japanese places I have been in Sydney and very simmilar dining experience to places I went over in Japan if you have been over there and are looking for something simmilar then I definitely suggest here. The owner is very nice and has come over to see how my meal was going on two seperate visits and let me know what the chef specials were and explained a bit more about the different meals and drinks. The food was amazing and a fair price for the quality. When you are dining alone you can sit at a bar facing the cooks and get to see them making the food. All the ordering is done on an iPad you just select what you want and how many then they bring it out to you very quick and easy. Overall a very nice dining experience hoping he opens one up in Wollongong.
A. S.
Is ok, poster on the wall said there was a promotion but it said is not available and expired?
J. C.
We saw a few cockroaches inside the sashimi cabinet which was really off putting. Even if the food was good it still affected out experience. Would be good to work on the hygiene of the restaurant.
T. K.
Fresh good food, cheap cocktails and nice atmosphere.
C. S.
Best Japanese food I've ever had and the staff, ambience and ordering system was fantastic. Definitely want to return.
A. S.
Great atmosphere, very busy, great food and drinks selection
K. C.
Amazing food, very fresh. Great range of Japanese alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Very friendly staff. Has a great Japan feel inside aswell. 10/10 will come again 👍
W. L.
Nice food and ambience. Will go again. Enjoyed the daily special sets.
B. H.
Excellent Japanese food and service. We ordered a lot of food here, had a good time and fun experience. The food was served very quickly. The steak dish is amazing but I wouldn't bother with the waygu beef skewersas they were quite average compared to the steaks.
I would visit again.
J. D.
If you are in Sydney then this is a must go to restaurant if you love Japanese dining! The food was spectacular and the vibe of the restaurant is great! will definitely come again.
J. C.
Service was fast and friendly. We booked a table and were seated very quickly. The place is buzzing with a happy Friday night crowd. You place your order via a screen. The food arrived sporadically, very slow at the beginning and then later, everything at once so we went from literally fighting over a few pieces of skewers to pushing each other to eat up. We found the meat dishes very well seasoned but definitely overcooked. Sashimi platter was fresh and clean. The prices are on the high side so considering the standard of cooking, we won't be in a hurry to come back.
J. D.
Very authentic. If you like spicy come here!
A. T.
Great service, decor and chuhais. Food is decent, sashimi and sushi not the greatest but edible. Overall a good experience.
C. W.
I just finished my meal and it was amazing! The food was delicious and the service was great. The menu had such a great variety and I couldn't be more happy with my experience here. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will be coming back everytime I'm in Sydney 😊
J. E.
After coming for only the second time since last year, a LOT of things have changed! (in a good way of course!) Ever since from the last time i visited, not only were the staff were EXTREMELY friendly, but the food was sooooo amazing, and also by the fact that they made some decorative adjustments in their restaurant.
I've ordered the chicken curry lunch set and my goodness! the flavour, the aurora and the taste of the curry is outstanding .
You can instantly tell that the meal was fresh and of course made with love and passion.
Having the effort of coming from my rural area just to eat at this place is really worth it. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!
F.
Excellent, authentic Japanese-style service. Impeccably clean and great vibes throughout the place in addition to the fact that we get to see how the chefs cook. Food tasted like it has come from real professionals and not some prick who watched a sushi tutorial video on YouTube. 10/10 will come back over and over.
S. H.
The main rice dish of the BBQ Ebi set was nice. Unfortunately the side dishes of the set was lacking. The tofu was a too tough to tear through, the green salad was ok, but the green tea tiramisu was nice though.
We also had a blue drink, however that was very bitter, my friend still had to finish it due to the $11 purchase.
The atmosphere is very unique compared to other Japanese places, the restaurant is decorated with pop graphic-like theme.
S. M. J.
Loved the Japanese food here. Even there were few options for vegetarians. Tried the vegetable sushi and tempura it was awesome. Tried few more vegetarian can't renege the names. Friends had lunch box, they were happy with it. Service was quick.

Amazing.
We had Chinese New Year Special Dinner today. The food was fresh Oyster, Grilled Abalone, Sashimi Deluxe, Sushi Deluxe, Lobster Hotpot.
That was such an incredible cuisine and the staff are so attentive. We definitely want to be back again. Highly recommend. We love it.
R. S.
The food is absolutely amazing. Great taste, well presented, nice and clean atmosphere. The food was really fresh and enjoyed the experience. Reasonable price for the food. Definitely going back here
N. E.
Great Japanese food and a funky dining space. Yebisu is a great place for a bite and a drink with friends or family. They can cater for large groups. Service is fast and efficient and the menu touchscreens work well and make navigating the menu and ordering entertaining and easy.
M. C.
Our experience at Yebisu was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious and authentic. The sake was amazing. The decoration and atmosphere made us feel like in Japan..it reminded me the izakaya experience I had in Osaka. Will definitely go back again soon.
C. K.
Nicely decked out restaurant, like a slice of little Tokyo. We had a selection of different sushi, all of which was delicious. I had the Tonkatsu Ramen, was a little salty and seemed to be a Shoyu style broth (brown and salty) as opposed to the pork creamy broth I really like, not a criticisim, just not what I expected. The pork on top of it was amazing though, the fat literally melted in your mouth and was delicious.
Had some of their Mango beer as well, which was really nice.
A. B.
Very authentic place, as if I walked in into one of many casual places in Tokyo. Menu and atmosphere is great. Check it out if you are looking for some decent moderately priced Japanese cuisine.
A. M.
What can I say that, most likely, hasn't already been said?
2.5 litre Orion beer for $50!
Sumptuous comestibles for pocket change.
Superb location that accepts reservations for free, with wait staff who know the difference between intrusion and attention.
5 stars, and more if I could.
D. S.
Delicious, flavoursome and worth every dollar!! Great choice for date night!! Only waited for 10 or so minutes for a table, food and drink came out fairly quickly and the ordering system was great. 8/10 would definitely go back
J.
I’ve been here twice now and both times enjoyed my experience.
We generally order a few sushi dishes from the menu such as the Tobiko Gunkan, Tamago sushi and a Soft Shell Crab hand roll. Sushi’s generally fresh although sometimes the seaweed feels a bit soft and not crisp enough for my liking.
The fried rice dishes are great! We’ve had the Kimchi one and the Salmon one? Both are quite fragrant with that burnt wok kind of smell and very tasty. Worth sharing or if you’re hungry, eat it all by yourself!
Another item worth trying is the Yakitori range. We had the assorted platter once and really enjoyed all the different cuts of meat. Once again, love that flame-grilled fragrance spread across the meats. Very more-ish!
There’s also a good range of drinks for a reasonable price.
The service is quite efficient due to the iPad ordering system.
Restaurant’s decked out nicely with many ornaments and paintings on the walls and ceilings for you to look at.
Love that the bathrooms are on-site as well.
Great little restaurant in the heart of Chinatown!
R. P.
Good vibe. The sashimi moriawase was decent.
M. C. (.
First time ever hearing about it, and I'm more than keen to go back. Great food, great drinks, reasonably quick service. If you like Japanese food, would definitely recommend
A. K.
Great variety of Japanese dishes, friendly athmosphere, great service with a smile. 2 things can be a put off ...one : the restaurant makes you share your table with strangers if they get busy..two :credit card surcharge .
H. L.
Great, authentic Japanese izakaya. Great service (they moved us from the counter to a table once it became available even though we didn't ask for that). Prices are a bit high if you're really hungry so it's better for just snacks, drinks and a catch-up
W. L.
great food. love the busy vibe, getting to sit at counter bar watching chef work hard to pump the food out to feed the hunger was very enjoyable. i felt like i was thrown back in japan, would love to come back again.
C. S.
Everything was clean, the staff is friendly and the food was amazing!
H. N.
We came here on a whim and discovered a buzzing restaurant. It was packed withing 10mins of opening and you could see why. The staff were lovely and the service was extremely quick. Family friendly and you order via iPads which reduces a lot of confusion. A great Japanese BBq restaurant that is a highly recommended.
K.
Savory snacks and side dishes that goes great with drinks like beer, Sake and cocktails. Portions are small but it's an appetizer, so that's fine. Great range of traditional Japanese snacks combined with a huge range of non alcoholic Mocktails too.
K.
Friendly staff. The cocktails are really colourful and tasty. The fried chicken is really nice. Alittle bit pricier because it's the city but a worthwhile place to go with friends
T. O.
Went for dinner with a large group - we were a bit squashed and could have done with an additional table. However the food was good and the service was very attentive. Price is about average for Japanese in the city.
k.
Friendly service, great atmosphere but disappointing food.
I was excited at first. Finally I have found a modern Japanese izakaya that looks just like the modern ones I've seen in Japan! Went in, was seated promptly. The staff provided friendly service and I could even order all my food from a picture menu using touch screen.
First came the sukiyaki. The flavours was nice but was very disappointed with the wagyu beef. It was thinly sliced but extremely tough. I couldn't see much marbelling either. It would have been a marble score of 3 at best.
Next came the salmon sashimi. It was sliced nice and thick but I find tell it wasn't as fresh as I had hoped.
California roll came soon after. Again, it was very plain and this time it was the sushi rice that didn't quite taste right.
Next up was the Char Sui tonkotsu ramen. The broth was nice, thick and tasty. But the let down was that it was only lukewarm. The charsui was still cold (like it had just came out of the fridge).
Finally came the premium wagyu beef grill. The special of the day. Presentation was amazing and the menu said it was a marble score of 9. With only 4 slices, I was really hoping it was something amazing. Sadly, it was again disappointing. The wagyu beef was nice but it definitely didn't taste like a marble score of 9. It would have to be 5 or 6 at best.
We finished off the night with green tea ice cream and black sesame ice cream. The black sesame ice cream was definitely the highlight of the night.
Total bill ended up being over $100 (not including drinks).

Easily one of the best dining experiences i have enjoyed. Thanks to Harry and his staff for being so hospitable. After being treated poorly by other restaurants in the Chinatown area ( I'll be sure to leave them a review ) we stumbled upon this funky, modern joint. Harry and his staff we ever so friendly.
Now onto the food, we ordered a wide variety of dishes and not one disappointed. However the Karaghe Chicken with Jalapeno Tartar sauce was awesome and my absolute favorite was the Ponzu Oysters. Once again thankyou and you will definitely see us in the near future.

I'd come here again for sushi & sashimi (quality), other food was nothing special and this place is expensive compared to other places with better food nearby. Atmosphere is really nice though, even with a long line they don't let the place get overcrowded.
M. Z.
Went here with my friends yesterday, beautiful restaurant, the service was really good, the food as well (karaage chicken), had really cool graffiti/murals in the restaurant (Bruce Lee, Gundam, Astro Boy, and a Giant Koi Fish which gave a Avatar The Last Airbender vibe. The tablet on the table to order food is such a good and smart thing to implement. Food came out really quick as well. Will definitely come back here in the future with my friends.
K. W.
Love this place for its skewers and sake. Moderately priced, so the food quality is equally matched. Definitely a regular visit! Seating is limited so there might be a wait during peak hours.
S. W.
Good quality food. Good service
R. C.
Platter of the day is very disappointing so be warned. All off bits, cartilage skin and hearts. Not very satisfying. Also table water took until end of service to arrive ( as we were leaving)
Food is delicious no doubt but quite overpriced. Sydney needs more cheaper yakitori experiences
C.
Food is great here, lunchtime specials are great value and its awesome with a group. The balcony is an awesome place to sit as well. Table computer ordering is awesome and reminds me of Japan so much. Cant wait to go back!
G. T. (.
One of the best place for a drink (and skewers) in city!!
J. D.
A relatively high end Izakaya. Foid and drink choices are plenty for everyone. The atmosphere is lively. Look forward to future visits
C. W.
I just finished my meal and it was amazing! The food was delicious and the service was great. The menu had such a great variety and I couldn't be more happy with my experience here. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will be coming back everytime I'm in Sydney 😊

Pretty good noodles but really the location and atmosphere is what it's about on a Friday night. Not too sure I'd go there by myself again but keen to go with mates.

This is the best Japanese restaurant that I have been out of Japan. They are located in Chinatown main pedestrian street Dixon st cross little hay st which is very easy to find, their entry gate on ground floor which is so beautiful and quiet when you just walk in, you will really concern about if it is good or not, however when you get up level 1, wow that's so busy, the vibes were impressive. Their cute Japanese waitress will take you the table with Japanese greeting. I sit down, check the iPad the ordering system, since you place order to be served it just take 15 minutes to 20 minutes, so cool. Yebisu menu is so vary, wagyu beef BBQ and seafood crab BBQ, grill octopus are my favorite, lobster hotspot also very good, and the takoyaki is so Q, after main course, I ask dessert ordered green tea cheese cake is the best cheese cake I had ever. During the dinner, the staff were very attentive, who will patrol around the dining area, asking you if want to help or need to add some water, especially the sake cart will come over your table by the sake selling girl, she will serve you a little cup for trial, if you like you order, then she will use traditional Japanese way to make a toast for you, ringing the bell and yelling " arigato" - thanks for the guess to order sake etc so fun. Final check the bill, it was not expensive, about $40. When you are leaving, the waitress and the kitchen staff, chef are all saying arigato - thank you very much welcome next time" to you, make you feel so comfortable and be cared. I will remember this Japanese izakaya, when I come back to Sydney again definitely come. So good image stuck my head.

A personal favourite in Sydney for me. Only place I know that serves Premium Malts beer on tap. To be honest, the food is not always amazing. They definitely have their off days. But more often than not it's great for a bite to eat and a few (too many) drinks.
S. H.
The food is below average. We have order sukiyaki hotpot, there is tofu shows on the photo, but when the real thing comes there is none.
Zero-waste lifestyle tip: they offer straw on tape water... So please ask for no straw before you order water.
M. F.
Fresh seafood. Great variety. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere.
H. W.
Good food (have been twice, only for skewers). Beers good although slightly pricey. Have been twice when quiet so can't really comment on atmosphere.
V. P.
Really nice place and atmosphere, but there is a lack of vegetarian options, I was hoping to have a ramen but all I could get was a bit of sushi, spring rolls and grilled vegetables... I enjoy the service and the decoration they had there tho 👍🏼
B. C.
Love it, nice Japanese food with real Japanese chefs and service which is refreshing...🤤😄
A.
I had karaage and teriyaki chicken for lunch, their foods just so so, but a little bit overpriced. their green tea is more like water as the tea has been diluted many times. with those foods and that price, I think I won't going back there.
L. M.
I've been there in occasion of the tuna festival. So you can have tuna (the good one)for just 1$pc. I really enjoy the place and the fresh food!also the staff it's very kind and helpful!!
J. D.
A relatively high end Izakaya. Foid and drink choices are plenty for everyone. The atmosphere is lively. Look forward to future visits
B. H.
Very nice Japanese food, very special in taste and presentation, atmosphere of place is also very nice and relaxing. Great place to go after long days work. It's not your an ordinary japanese restaurant.
M. E.
Sooooo good. Izakaya food, very efficient. Order from tablet. Protip order a chicken egg rice bowl to go with your yakitori. Good beer choices and liquor menu. Nice open air feel.
J. M.
Just had dinner at Yebisu's.. lovely food, wonderful service and reasonable prices - what more can you ask for?
S. V.
Place is awesome very nice vibes, the people were greatly and welcoming. I liked how they asked when I wanted my rice as well. Awesome service
C. C.
The uni here is so fresh. All the food are great, drinks are exceptional. Love it. The only thing is the price can be a little bit high. But worth it.
Z. T.
A top class restaurant with great food and drinks, tasteful music selection of fusion jazz and bossa. Staff always give their customers a warm feeling of being welcomed and the chefs and manager are very cool people too.
S. C.
Pretty good noodles but really the location and atmosphere is what it's about on a Friday night. Not too sure I'd go there by myself again but keen to go with mates. …

No matter what you order, the food will be pleasant and delicious. The food is well balanced and tasty.
T. T. S.
great food and service, I love the grills
K. T.
Great place for a Japanese styled casual dine and drinking experience in the heart of CBD with kind staff and a lively atmosphere. Only downfall will be the price that sky rockets with a good time.
J. S.
Japanese style izakaya, some nice yakitori skewers along with the usual Japanese selection. Not a great atmosphere though, it was too warm and noisy the Tuesday night I was there.
S. G.
Extensive menu with a large selection at reasonable prices. Plenty of sake and beers, quick service, best to book ahead. Convenient location on the first floor in Chinatown.
J. C.
Very popular joint, Superb fried rice and ume-soda. Sushi was ok, but great place to hang out after work hours. Definitely will be back again!

My mother's pork belly rice was Good, but my kimchi pork udon was way too sour for consumption. I could stomach most of it only because I love sour things. Not for the average though.
M. Y. X.
It is only a step away from our office in the city, the best value you can get for a quick lunch! Fresh prepared meal serviced by well trained staff. it makes you feel in Japan!
L. C. J.
Well worth it 88 dollars hot pot
d.
First time in Sydney and after sitting in this second storey restaurant gazing out over a busy part of Chinatown it feels like your in Tokyo. Yakatori not served for lunch so we stayed and grazed until the dinner menu YAY!!!! You order from a computer screen. So easy!!!!
S. M.
Excellent Japanese casual dining.
N. S.
Staff was very friendly, and attentive. Drinks are unique and so it the food. Great for groups or just small gatherings.

Tasty fresh sushi
A. S.
Quite a busy place even on a Tuesday night. Food was average. Service was average. Maybe because staff were busy. I requested for some extra wasabi but it never came. Probably won't go back
P. P.
Great atmosphere but sushi was average
Drink where good
B. J.
The service, food and atmosphere here is fantastic! Super friendly and well priced saki.

T. C.
Great atmosphere, really prompt food and the tempura dish I had was both good quality and the perfect portion size.
a. s.
Ordered 30 varieties of chcken yakitori with 2 types of wine. It's the best place to drink sake. Good variety of sakes. Bit pricy though.

L. P.
Beautiful food and amazing service. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very clean too!!!
C. L. (.
Ambience is like a Japanese izakaya. One star off for the higher costs
C. B.
Expensive! and food is mediocre. A few drinks and meat skewers set us back almost 80$. One skewer is at minimum 3.30$. Ordered Japanese pickles which was over 10$.
J. Y.
The grilled food are nice and I like the semi-outdoor atmosphere. Hopefully the sushi would stick together in my next visit.
B. S.
I've been there once. I had a good time with my friends and the food was good as well. I might go there again as soon.
R. C.
Food here is great as were the mocktails! The ipad ordering system was fun but might not work for everyone.
孟.

A. N.
Good service and good food, however prices are higher than similar Izakaya offerings (e.g. Lantern by Wagaya)

Lovely atmosphere with delicious food. Though keep in mind, food can take a bit longer when it's busy.
G. C.
Portion size was tiny, nothing was fresh, meat were overcooked.
