Best bakery in the area. Yummy cakes, great pasties and pies, great coffee and nice staff. Also a good place to catch up with friends for a coffee (+cake, meat pie, etc). Have been there quite a few times and will go again.

We go out of our way to eat here, now we're no longer local. It never disappoints! This time I had the chicken veg pie, and a flat white. Hubby had beef mince pie, son 1 had a sausage roll and son 2 had a tuna potato pie. We ate in, and the service was excellent as usual. Usually we grab a cake (their passionfruit vanilla slice is *the best*, and the baked cheesecake is lovely), but we settled for coffees this time. Worth the stop, even though the setting is not perfect. Sometimes we grab and go, and head to a local park. But so glad this bakery is consistently worth visiting.

It's all in the pastry THE best chicken pie I have had! Enjoyed the chicken and mushroom as well as a delightful creamy iced vanilla slice. Chunky chicken + a lovely sauce. I cannot rate the pastry highly enough. More than a casing it was crispy, not soggy nor too firm and had a delightful taste beyond flour.

A friend referred us to the Village Baker and we weren't disappointed. The vanilla slice and the orange and almond cake are both delicious! We also tried the fennel and fig sour dough bread, which was also delicious and would be great as part of a cheese board.

Great bread, better pies and amazing desserts. The only problem is no toilet. They recently upgraded their facility to make it a big cafe style place. But did not have the foresight to add toilet or baby change facilities which always affects my decision to go. Also it should be worth noting their front of house staff get a bit flustered on the weekends so give yourself some extra time.

Whilst the prices are on the upper end of town, it stands to reason. I cannot rate this bakery high enough. Perfect pastry, flavours, textures. Innovative, inventive and unique. This place is amazing! They have the best kitchener buns and pies in Adelaide. The kitchener buns have the perfect balance of sweetness and melt in your mouth. Everything is always freshly baked on premises and the staff are very friendly. Definitely recommend visiting this bakery!

Lovely big premises, well appointed commercial bakery. Coffee and food products are ok but nothing to write home about. Bit overpriced. What a pity. For just a little bit bigger vision and risk could make this place into a very, very good setup. Think bigger (as in quality) and you will surprise yourself. ☺️ New York, blueberry cheesecake slice $5.90. Well, wouldn't want to be a cent more put it that way! 😅

Great selection of delicious pastries. I've had the lamb korma pie a number of times and love it every time. It's truly delicious. Have also tried their banana cake and that also was delicious. I haven't been impressed with their sausage rolls though—a bit bland and oily.

Have been here before, nice cozy atmosphere. Had their bacon sausage roll (I believe it was?) and tasted quite nice. I’ve just tried their regular sausage roll; you’re getting good value for your money considering its size, however it really lacks with flavour, which was disappointing. I didn’t really enjoy eating it which is a shame because I love sausage rolls. Maybe more salt perhaps? Either way tomato sauce didn’t really help with the taste either...

The bakery has a wide range of delicious items. The lamb shank pie is one of my favourites. The vanilla slice is glorious. The coffee is good. The shop set up is very modern with lots of streamlined seating. I have recommended this bakery to many people.

Always friendly service, and while I can't say I've ever had a bad Cornish pasty anywhere, these are a cut above those I've had anywhere else. 😋 I also recommend the pork and fennel sausage roll. Delicious!

Nice place but crazy expensive. Almost $13 for a pie and a coffee, which was no means anything special. The staff here are more interested in their social club rather than actually serving the customer. The woman behind the counter couldn't even bring me my coffee, there was 4 of them behind the counter, yet she calls out to me like a dog to retrieve the bev. Won't be coming back again.

Amongst the most delicious pies I've ever tried, which is saying a lot as I'm quite a gourmet pie connoisseur. Lots of interesting flavours and very reasonably priced. Also decent coffee, good selection of cakes and breads, and great service.

Recommend their Lamb Shank Pie, the rum balls, every dessert (at least once) and their freshly made chicken sandwiches.

The chocolate praline cheesecake is to die for! They add nuts and a layer of caramel into the mix, amazing. I tried a slice once and had to order a whole cake to share with people the next week I also really like their pepper steak pie, great pastry, chunky pieces of steak and a proper pepper hit. Will definitely look into trying more of their range

Whenever my partner and I are out and about we always seek out the local bakery when we get hungry. So over the last few years we have been to many different bakeries in and around Adelaide, country South Australia (including the Yankalilla Bakery) and also in regional Victoria (including the famous Beechworth Bakery) and in NSW around the Blue Mountains. And we can definitely say that the The Village Baker at Black Forest is out favourite bakery out of them all. They have the most perfect pastry and the most scrumptious fillings in their pies. Our favourites are their Lamb Shank pies, their Chicken and Mushroom and Steak and Mushroom pies, and their Pork and Fennel sausage rolls. Every pie, pasty and sausage roll that we have had from them has tasted fantastic. They are the best pie makers that we have found during our travels, even better than Yankalilla and the Beechworth bakeries.
