Comments of Banneton
E. &. E.
Wow! This has to be one of my new favourite spots for coffee and fresh pastries! Visited here early on a Sunday morning, and although was a line up to order, the service was super fast!
We ordered two coffees and two pastries- a cinnamon scroll and a cherry danish. It was obvious these were baked fresh, as they were so soft and delicious. Although I do wish the scroll was warmed up, it was my fault for not asking! The coffees were equally as good, they came out so fast yet were smooth tasting.
There’s very limited seating here, so you may be waiting a little bit if you come on the weekend. I cannot fault this bakery cafe, and am already planning my next visit! Definitely recommend.

Everything that we have bought from Banneton over the years have been exceptional. The sourdough loaves are the best. They are great to be eaten with literally anything, sweet or savoury. The brandied fruit loaf is great, and so is the olive and rosemary loaf. I also love the pretzels, bagels, the almond croissants and the almond pretzels. One will not be disappointed by anything they choose to get from Banneton.
C. C.
The coffee is always well made, has a particularly strong chocolate aftertaste that is perfect for a bakery and goes well with the breads and croissants.
Unfortunately it seems that it is under new ownership and the staff are particularly unwelcoming and rude, to the point I have stopped going there unless there are no other options available or I really feel like having that chocolate aftertaste… and then I don’t eat in any more, I just accept I’ll get a rude and abrupt serve and leave.
Good quality has also gone down and each time I was eating there (always the same thing) it was a lottery how well cooked/over cooked the food would come out.
B. T.
Banneton Sourdough is very good and it toasts up very well.
Update:
Got a beef and Guinness pie and it had way too much little potato cubes in it and fell apart halfway into eating. It was ok but not $8 great.
J. F.
Love Banneton, one of the best bakeries around. But I've noticed the bread quality being inconsistent recently. Sourdoughs have sometimes been a bit too chewy. The coffee and staff have been 10/10 recently though.

Did you know that the Banneton Bakery site in Woolloongabba used to be a warehouse loading dock? Being in an industrial looking area probably explains why I've driven along Balaclava St without ever realising there's a bakery/cafe there! It wasn't until after my visit to their Ashgrove branch that I knew the original outlet is closer to me. So when wifey wanted to head to the Koorong book store a block away I had the perfect opportunity to take a detour.
My order:
* almond croissant, $6
* cinnamon/vanilla scroll, $5.50
While deciding I let another customer order ahead of me, and she literally got a dozen (or was it more) croissants plus a bunch of other things. Good thing we weren't after the same items!
Enjoyed both of my purchases but preferred the almond croissant over the scroll. Will aim to try some savoury items next time, hopefully once the cafe is open for dine in.

Moussaka had great flavour maybe even too much? By itself it's bit of struggle to eat, rekon pair it with a salad and it would balance the flavour out. Ice choc was nothing special, tasted more like an ice Milo 5/10. Pie had beautiful crust and tasted earthy and rich, tomato relish worked really well with it. Worth the high price!
P. K.
Great bakery with lots of pastries. Coffee is good and the food is great! There is a space to sit outside but inside is quite tight. The Pork and Fennel roll is amazing!
B. Z.
Large range of beautiful pastries. The almond pretzel is a must try and their fresh loaves of breads are loved by regulars.
Cofffee consistency could improved, but the pastries are the star of the show anyway!
J. H.
Amazing bakery full of wonderful goods
A. A.
Decent coffee, croissant was below expected, different tastes of banana bread.
I’m sure other stuff in the menu will be better.
S. P.
Their Veggie slice was delicious and their croissants were good too. Great stop to grab some treats before heading to a park like Mowbray for example.
X. C.
Very friendly counter staff! Kept my daughter entertained throughout.
Decent croissants. Slightly sad that the croissant is not as flakey. Felt like it was a mass produced croissant and made for the wholesale market.
Beef pie was quite average, didnt have chunky and well marinated beef. It tasted gamey.
Quiche lorraine tasted like it was made the day before.
R. y.
The best bread Ive ever eaten. Tastes and textures are amazing. All pulled out of the oven that morning, whats not to love. Best almond croissant, plain croissant, cinnamon role and fruit filled danishes Ive ever eaten. Price is expensive but you get what you pay for. Atmosphere is very nice
Y.
I love their Sourdough it’s good !
L. O.
Serving lovely coffee, buns and bread. Only a couple of tables to sit inside, but some outdoor space as well. A few car park spaces out the front. Highly recommend the cinnamon scroll, was delish!
J. A.
Modest selection of fresh offerings. Really enjoyed the rye and beef sandwiches.
R. G.
Nice coffee & food, but the barista does not always achieve my particular strength or taste.
H. R.
Quite possibly the best quiches and danishes I've eaten in Australia, so yum!
R. W.
Banneton’s sourdoughs are fantastic. We get it most weeks and never been disappointed. We’ve bought sourdough from other bakeries in the area, but they don’t compare.
M. V.
One of our family MUST go places. We love their bread. Great quality and price. I am a big fan of their Latvian Rye bread that they bake only on weekends when the male part of my family loves their Ciabatta and Sourdough.
S. L. M.
Excellent bakery with fresh baked goods. The service needs to be improved, it’s slow and at times inconsistent.
m. b.
Best bread in Brisbane I have found.
- Multigrane loaf = terrific
- Brandied fruit loaf is amazing
- Pastries are also really good.
Only downside is the bread is sometimes a bit flat (doesn't rise well), but this is only 1/5 times.
S.
Great food and atmosphere even on a rainy day. The staff are nice and effective.
H. S. L.
Amazing bake house food !! Lovely service and great coffee . Always busy due to its quality 👌
S. T.
Most delicious sausage rolls I've had!
B. W.
Bread is great, pastries are quite mid.
J. W.
Always service with a smile. Great Coffee and cinnamon scrolls and chocy croissants to die for 😍 my new morning goto as I work just up the road!!
D. F.
Hands down the best bread in Brisbane.
C. H.
I can honestly say you can never go wrong at Bannetons Woolloongabba. The coffee is delicious, the pastries, sandwiches, desserts, pies are all to die for. Every staff member I've met have been warm friendly and absolute gems. Their catering is also on point!
G. F.
Great little bakery where basically everything is amazing. From their speciality sourdoughs, to their delicious pastries and sweet treats. Coffee is good too and friendly staff. The only issue is choosing what to get...
J. C.
I could tell this bakery was going to be good people were lined up before it even opened including me if your after great tasting bread you can't go wrong here.
C. X.
My favourite sourdough and go to bakery. Love the NY deli rye and Banneton sourdough. Crossaints are great and a great selection of sandwiches plus the pork and apple fennel sausage roll is dam good too.
T. H.
The best bakery in the Woolloongabba area. From Light Rye Sourdoughs to Beef Pies. Exquisite bar cakes, yummy slices, great croissants, and simple salads and savoury treats if you want to stop for lunch. Great coffee too. 3 off street parks and sometimes the parking in the street is tricky because it's a clear way early morning and later afternoon. Timing is everything! They have a van at Kelvin Grove Urban Village Markets on a Saturday morning. Possibly elsewhere too. Oh, and the staff are always pleasant.
S. M.
About the tastiest bakery around. However if you are rocking up at 10am hungover their quite well off clientele will silently (and sometimes not so silently) judge you all the way out. But it’s worth it.
M.
Great pretzels and great chocolate croissants. Quality is usually consistent but the pretzel I purchased today was small and over cooked. It was quite dry on the inside and I was looking forward to a soft pretzel. I also ordered a chai latte but it tasted like they forgot to put half the chai in.
P. N.
Best pastries in all of Brisbane. No joke, this isn't some rubbish standard chain store bakery, their Cherry Danish and croissants are made of proper flakey pastry like your find in Europe.
J. W.
Excited to be giving them a new oven to ensure the quality of their product.
J. B.
My favorite little bakery! Small place open most days. Sourdough. Wood fire ovens. Lots of nice pastries and savoury options. Sandwiches, quiches, fritatas, coffee, cakes, cookies and little dessert slices. They're passionate about their craft and it shows.
R. L.
Wife and I consumed a flat white each and sampled their pastries. Coffee was quality & pastries were fresh and enjoyable. Staff were pleasant, but I wouldn't say they were bubbling with enthusiasm.
J. R.
Great choice lovely fruit mince and blueberry Danish. Cosy. Variety. Perfect for Sunday morning coffee and cake!
M. E.
We have tried a wide range of their breads and pastries, and so far nothing has let us down. European style breads that actually taste the way they are meant to. Highly recommend.
B. P.
Bought the Vienna sourdough here today. Delicious. The sweet treats and sandwiches looked delicious so I will have to come back and try them next.
J. F.
The bread is good, pain au chocolat excellent with a good choice of a dark bitter chocolate instead of the sweet milky chocolate found in so many Australian made pain au chocolat, the pastry however does not look French at all, good coffee though and friendly, lovely people, tidy clean place
l. c.
Very good food & nice team 😍
D. H.
Beautiful breads and baked treats. Sweet things done right.
S. F.
Baked goods were sensational. Will buy the sourdough to take home next time! My boyfriend and I shared a sausage roll and sweets. Yum.
B. H.
Best bread I have ever eaten. Try the wholegrain.
The cinnamon are scrolls are amazing too
S.
Delicious meals and great coffee. Inside the cafe is a bit too hot, but if you sit outside, it is a really nice small cafe with french pastries and breads. Yumm
Z. P.
Great bakery offering a wide verity of breads, sweets, snacks and dine in breakfast/brunch options.
Wait staff are friendly.
Has a $10 min spend on eftpos (50c surcharge if under)
R. A.
Terrific pastries and other baked goods, good coffee
m. y.
found this gem recently. freshly baked house made pie. coffee is spot on too
J. G.
The best sour dough and well worth the drive from Bundaberg... wish you could post out a loaf a week... John
S. P.
I've been going to Banneton Woolloongabba for many years now, and for some reason the guys in the bakery have decided their flagship bread, The Banneton Sourdough, should be OVERBAKED! Please, bread should be golden-brown, not browny-black. Please stop trying to prevent me from buying my favorite bread. If you insist on over-baking some loaves, then please at least bake a few properly so people such as myself have a choice.
A. K.
Good bread and sourdough; unfortunately they don't offer in-house slicing of bread.
B. M.
Service not fab. Shame, as food was excellent.
S.
Great little bakery with lots of options for groups. Morning breakfast is fresh. Only downside is they do charge a surcharge on Eftpos under $10 which is a little archaic.
D. L.
Best sourdough bread in Brisbane. The Olive and rosemary is my favourite.
I. G.
Must try the almond pretzel! It was so buttery and delicious. Worth the trip out just for one of those
M. C.
Amazing organic sour dough bakery! The best bread in Brisbane
j. w.
Best almond pretzels ever
S. O.
Pretty good bakery although they could increase their variety a bit. Need to get there early as they seem to run out of things rather quickly.
J. W.
How good is the bread here! Real sour dough. It lasts all week without going off, so no need to rush it. Perfect on a Sunday morning
M. W.
Outstanding breads. Arrive early for the best selection as they sell out quickly. Recommend the malted rye if you can get it!
A. D.
Some of the best French pastries and breads in town. Great for small group meet ups. Coffee is okay.
R.
Great bakery with fantastic bread and treats.
V. S.
My favourite bakery! The real thing. Look no further for the perfection in baking. 5 stars for quality.
D. V.
Best baguette in Brisbane! and the patisserie is also excellent! just a pitty that the staff is not always very friendly...
S. B.
Great bread. Some of the best sourdough in Brisbane. Coffee not bad depending who makes it.
A. B.
Wonderful little friendly bakery that makes good coffee too. That also has good gluten free options
A. B.
