Comments of Ingleside Bakery Cafe
G. N.
We dined at 1:00 on a Monday. There were a few people present. We were served immediately and there were plenty of tables available.
We elected to sit outside in the courtyard, which was rustic and comfortable. There was a wonderful herb garden at the back of the area.
The food was served quickly and was fresh and hot. It was superbly tasty and the portions generous. The pricing was fair.
The menu was extensive and there was beer and wine on offer.
There were bakery goods, ice cream, toasted sandwiches etc.
We had the scallop pie and a Reuben Toasted sandwich, then a Portuguese tart and a baked blueberry cheesecake.
The coffee was also excellent.
We recommend also taking the time to visit the shops nearby.
G.
Such a cool, funky place, especially to sit outside when it's sunny and pleasant. Lovely selection of things, and decent coffee. Cool little gifty things inside, and the coolest (tallest door) I've ever seen in my life on a house (outside a castle). Really quirky place, and nice people as well.
C. D.
Nice setting, would be really nice in summer to sit outside in the garden. Food came quick, staff were friendly and the shop had a nice selection of tassie products.
C. S.
Great home cooked pies, smelt delicious the moment we got out of the car.
The price hike from takeaway to dine in is a bit much at an extra $3.50 for tomato sauce and some lettuce but to be fair they do refer to this as garnish and not side salad.
Tasty food and really nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy the sun.
S. w.
We started our forage journey in Evendale at the Bakery... We were so impressed! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, dietary requirements were catered for and the fire made everything feel so cosy. But better than all that was the service we received from Corey! Such a wonderful way to start the day!
V. L.
Very nice cafe place with outdoor garden sitting area. The food can improve.
J. E.
Nice place friendly service, but I was disappointed with the food and drink I got. Others in my party were happy though. Maybe just avoid the pasty and ice coffee.
J. S.
beautiful bakery, lots of local produce on display, very spacious, very service was great but costed me over $30 for two toasted ham & cheese toasties with one take away coffee.. so a little expensive but a wonderful bakery
K. S.
Busy, great bakery & the best sourdough I've eaten. Gorgeous open fire, beautiful garden & yummy treats. We had a filling breaky and good coffee. Great historical town off the Midland Hey.
M. K.
Sadly disappointed by our visit. The courtyard was lovely and sheltered, and inside was really humming. The food smelled great and there were lots of knick knacks to feast our eyes upon, but the extra you pay to "eat-in" is not justified by the sprig of lettuce, half slice of cucumber and scraping of carrot that calls itself a "salad". The Moroccan Lamb pie at $15+ looked and smelled great, but in reality the nicest thing on that plate was the chutney; and the beef and cheese pie was quite ordinary. The quality of the coffee didn't go far enough to redeem the rest, although it was nice and strong and hot!
B. T.
Delicious full breakfast with my favourite - black pudding. Certainly hit the mark for me.
c. s.
Lovely ambiance and fantastic food. Apple and sultana strudel is a must try! So glad we made a stop here before headed to Launceston
K. O.
Excellent lunch today, toatsies were really nice, Salmon is recommended as is the Ham & cheese variety. Great choice of slices and cakes. Cup of Tea not so good.
A. M.
So cute!!! Lovely jams and Tassie gifts. Only bad thing is it's quite smoky inside sure to open fire. But plenty of spaces in beautiful courtyard if weather is nice
S. R.
Love this Bakery. It has lots of nice food and some interesting gifts to check out while you dine. A must visit if you are in Evandale.
M. H.
Beautiful setting, cosy fire, and friendly staff. Cafe style food, with restaurant prices. We went there to have a pie and a coffee, with our children, on our way south, not expecting outrages prices. Perhaps scrap the word café so expectations are a bit closer to reality. I will be back, but next time with friends, to have lunch with a nice glass of wine, not worrying about the expense.
A. P.
Beautiful Bakery!
I asked for an iced chai latte (which they didn't have on their menu) but they were more than happy to make one for me 😊 It was one of the best I'd had!
Scones were also delicious.
Recommend 👍🏼
C. C.
Love love love this place. Ambiance, food, coffee, service, uniqueness all wonderful
K. M.
High ceilings, roaring fire, quiet & cosy. This place was a lovely stop off on our way to Hobart. We had the ploughman’s board with fresh meats and cheeses. We also took a pie & tart to go, they were also delicious. Definitely recommend.
p. c.
This was a great breakfast stop
I would highly recommend everyone try the Hearty breakfast
Great food, service and coffee
Your heart may not be so hearty after this fine breakfast, but the sacrifice is worth it 😁
C. D.
Beautiful old church. Great food. Lovely gift ware
G. K.
Delish breakfast. Some of the best eggs benny I've ever had. We came 2 days in a row with the kids and everyone loved every breakfast they chose. Great staff. Loved it
M.
A lovely bakery/cafe to sit and relax with a coffee or hot chocolate and something warm to eat on a cold winters afternoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the cake was tasty. Would happily stop in again next time we are passing through that way.
J. S.
Great food and coffee. Wonderful old building with original fire place. Loved it!
P. N.
Really good coffee, with a nice foamy top in the Cappuccino. Good selection of pastries( nice large Cornish pastie!) and cakes, even a large range of biscuits and bars to choose from. Sitting out in Garden courtyard, you can enjoy the roses and garden surrounds.
D.
Great quiche with friendly service. Coffee was great too. Thanks.
W. S.
Always enjoy the fine food n coffee served with a smile!
S. H. (.
Coffee, cakes and pastries are all top notch!
Anything off the menu is exceptional too
Tie that in with the warm, welcoming and wonderful staff and you'll be back time and time again as we are.
It's too hard to pick a favourite thing off the menu, it's all so good!
L. C.
AMAZING
great service and food, would definitely recommend.
Thank you!
S. M.
Been here a few times whilst travelling through Evandale over the years and it's always a nice stop. Just morning tea this time and it didn't disappoint.
N. T.
Beautiful breakfast at a beautiful Cafe. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Barista makes gorgeous coffee. The atmosphere is so relaxing. Glad I stopped in and will definitely be back.
A. C.
Came here for Mother's Day breakfast. Hearty breakfast was epic. Great location in a historic building. Well worth the trip from Launceston.
P. D. J.
Wife and I very much enjoyed the plowman's platter a great selection of meats and cheeses and amazing crusty home made breads! 😋
M. K.
This place is more than just a bakery. There are beautiful historic paintings, local Tassie produce (the honey! the fudge!). Worth the time.
N. W.
Excellent food and service. Prices are very reasonable for the size of portions (eggs Bendigo and veggie breakfast pictured). The attached store of Tassie goodies was a great bonus.
F.
Food a bit pricey, and over toasted. Otherwise quite tasty
J. M.
The combination of fantastic food, great atmosphere and friendly staff is probably why the Ingleside Bakery has to be one of my favourite places in Tasmania.
B. S.
what can I say. AMAZING went 3 times and each time was as good as the last. great atmosphere when u sit outside specially after the markets
N. S.
Beautiful and quaint little cafe with a lovely outdoor garden seating area.
L. L.
A bakery that runs out of burger buns??? Unbelievably this happened to us today. A very nice member of staff came and explained and a substitute was found but our lunches did take some time to arrive, less than at busier times we've been there. Food was thankfully delicious.
J. K.
Food is excellent. Had smoked salmon on sourdough with avocado spinach and poached eggs with bearnaise sauce. Usual combo but presented well and the salmon was amazing. If it had been warmed a bit before serving it would have been better. Service was good. Asking if we wanted our drinks first or with meal, would have been better. Warm with an open fire on a cold winters Sunday made the experience very pleasant. Staff were lovely and honest. I highly recommend coming here...🤗
K. C.
A lovely spot in the sun for breakfast down the road from our air B&B. Charming decor and lovely staff. It was a very busy place as well.
G. G.
Cozy place, friendly staff, accepted our large group with no notice with a smile and rearranged tables for us, wonderful coffees and munchies, and what a gorgeous little garden outside
E. L.
Yummy food and good servings. Good staff and great venue. Nice gift section available too. Beautiful courtyard to eat in on fine days. Well worth dropping in to.
S. S.
Beautiful bakery, food was delicious and the shop had some lovely chocolates and gifts. Gorgeous courtyard to sit in with a beautiful garden.
m. b.

J. M. W.

A. L.
Wonderful interesting adventure back in time. Great array of artifacts superb bakery lines
Our waitress was obviously having an off day no smiles but the rest of staff and management were great
S. A.
Absolutely beautiful place to stop. Not only does it have incredible food, they have a wide a range of gifts, locally brewed alcohols, and decadent Tassie Ice Cream!
A. F.
Delightful cafe with a beautiful side courtyard filled with roses. Toasted sandwiches are delicious and very generous in size. A lovely assortment of locally made gifts. Friendly staff. Will definitely return.
C. O.
We go here every time we go to Launceston the raspberry jelly cake is yum
J. D.
Thank you Jane ( and staff) for doing a special door delivery to my parents down the road from you. Love your food and especially the cakes. Evandale Bakery went out of their way for mums birthday as she couldn’t go out. So very much appreciated.
Looking forward to my next visit south. 👍

This was a great place to have breakfast .
Really nice sourdough toast with eggs Benedict . The quiche were very tasty too.
We were served by Kelly she had a great smile and happy to accomodate our specific requests.
Would def come back !!!!
K. H.
One of the best bakeries in Tassie and a truly stunning town to visit. Dine in prices are horribly excessive however ($3 extra per item, which adds up when ordering savoury and sweet items for 4 people!!), so best to take away. There's a lovely park (and historical cemetery) behind the row of houses across from it. But their chunky steak pies are incredible. Such a rich delicious gravy!! Chicken, leek and brie pie is amazing!! Their pastry is so yum. I also ADORED the lemon cheesecake!! Oh, and definitely grab one of the non-alcoholic ginger beers. Might seem pricey, but the best I've ever had! Really worth a stop in.
H. B.
Always good food and friendly service. Could use some ceiling fans or coolers in the actual bakery though as it was sweltering in there today.
R. W.
Have fruit toast. Was so good! Great bakery and fresh bread!
s. p.
When we got our food it was nice, but we waited an awful long time for 5 ham n cheese toasties. They had Gluten free bread and they were happy to admit they kept it frozen as they don't get many requests for it :) Staff were friendly and accomodating
T.
Great bakery and Cafe, amazing food, great coffee and friendly staff
J. C.
Our first stop on my first trip to Tasmania. Had been recommended the curry scallop pies and they did not disappoint! YUM! Cute décor inside and a beautiful little outdoor area where we sat. Will make it our first stop for all future visits!
R. R.
Beautiful food in an amazing historic building 😀
A. d. B.
Wow wow. If you are down this way you won't want to miss this little piece of tassie. The staff here are fantastic and ready to delight your taste buds with the treasures they serve here. Be prepared to leave here with a full belly and armful of goodies to graze on for days to come. It doesn't get much better than this except that the place also sells arts and crafts and then to top it off has a beautiful wood fire crackling in fireplace to warm the cockles of the heart to complete the whole thing and make you want to stay longer. Wow wow.
R. M.
Nicely placed for coffee or breakfast after cycling from Launy. Beautiful outside garden, as well as cosy inside seating. I had the vege breakfast — bit $$ but huge serving (could've served 2 people!) and great taste. Thoroughly recommended if you're passing through.
M. B.
Good food, good coffee and set in a wonderful town.
D. M.
We enjoyed the lunch here so much we went back the next day. Really delicious food and the atmosphere is relaxed and cozy when the fire is going. We sat outside the first visit and the court yard is gorgeous. Staff are great too.
H. H.
Great cafe! get a table outside, great view and beautiful garden at the back you can walk through.
Food is a bit $$ but taste good, smells good so really, i mean everything in TAS is a bit $$ these days
The entire town/area of Evandale is feels like and olden time small town, it has a nice charm to it. Park and walk through the town.
D. M. C.
Lovely courtyard garden to eat lunch in. We had a toastie each. They were delicious and huge. Good gf options.
E. d. H.
The hummingbird cake was huge and delicious to share
M. B.
Friendly cafe that really bustles on a weekend. Prices are a bit of a shock - for example, $25 for a BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich. Have to admit the BLT was rather big - a triple decker with 3 slices of sourdough bread and heaps of bacon and a small side salad - and very tasty. But you would still expect to pay no more than $18 if you were in a capitol city.
R. B.
Not actually the bakery but The Clarendon Arms..
P. C.
The atmosphere and service was very good but the pies we were served up were just warm, which was not very pleasant. No real response to comments when given after being asked what we thought. It is nice to have hot food, especially when it is a pie.
K. R.
a very spacious bakery and cafe with lots of little knick knacks for sale too. inside is very pretty with high ceilings and outside is just as lovely with roses. we went on a sunday so it was quite busy but still enjoyable. try the fancy nougat.
b. l.

First, Evandale is darling & a quick drive if you're looking for something to do outside Launceston for an afternoon. At the cafe I had English breakfast tea & spicy Thai pumpkin soup with garlic bread that was out of this world. Atmosphere was impeccable; the garden could be used as a movie set. Service was lovely & lots of quirky gifts & delicious smelling bathroom goods for sale.
M. C.
