Comments of Baker Bleu
J. w.
Great little bakery! Would recommend going before 10:30am, as there is a line and they usually sell out.
The stand out was the chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat) !
M.
- Croissant-Plain $5 🥐
- Pain au chocolat $5.5 🍫
- Barberry & Pistachio Escargot $7
- Mushroom Pizza $12.5 🍕
Very impressed with their plain croissant and pain au chocolat. The flavour was simply gorgeous. It had the taste of the sourdough with a hint of sweetness but in a flakey texture. You might not be able to tell from the photos but the croissant was massive.
I’m slight disappointed with the escargot. It was too dense. Felt like I was eating the berries separately. The mushroom pizza tasted good but the crust was too hard.
A. C.
Nice bakery. We were lucky to just be ahead of the queue as we went early enough. As it was our first visit though, we didn't know what was on offer so felt a little pressured to make a decision quickly.
The country loaf, bagels and pastries were all delicious. The rye and caraway loaf was tasty but needed just a touch more caraway.

#BMAfavourites - Loading up on carbs this weekend from the iconic Baker Bleu! There is definitely a bit of magic brewing at their bakery because everything I ordered from the Country Loaf to the Sesame Challah tasted like dreams and happiness ✨😍. Best decision I’ve made all lockdown!! 100% reccomend if you live within their radius or save it for post lockdown treats!
E. I.
Waited half an hour on Easter weekend for these but it was so worth it. Squishy sourdough buns!!! Doesn’t get much better than this. The bagels and pastries are brilliant too ❤️
K. C.
Baked fresh every morning, Baker Bleu is one of the best sourdough bakeries in Melbourne. Check their website before you go as they make different things on different days. For example, challah is on Fridays only. Their sourdough croissant is to die for. Highly recommend! Get there early though as they often sell out. I was there on Wednesday morning at 7.45 am and there was already a modest line.
O. R.
Good bread selection, pastries sell out quick. Was expecting more variety specialist bread or fruit buns or pies etc, but don't have.
J. K.
Healthiest sourdough bread around the city. I understand why people line up every weekend here. Wholegrain, ancient grain and baked fresh each day.
F. H.
Top top top little bakery. Beautiful bagels and cherry choc doughy delights. Lovely. Be quick, they sell out fast at the weekend - by 10am!
S. W.
Baker Bleu is our go-to! The best pastries in Melbourne, without a doubt.
d.
Not cheap but their reputation for being one of the best sour dough baker is definitely true. It’s been ages since they first opened and there’s still a queue early in the morning??? it’s become a norm now. During covid only 2 customers are allowed in. It’s in a Jewish neighbourhood and when I look around who’s in the line.... most I think (like me) have driven here just to line up pay good money for bits of flour mixed with water and shoved in a hot cave!! 😂
Worth a visit if in the area. A must is their croissant and on alternating Saturday’s theres an olive sour dough bread which sells out. But then again most of their stuff sells out by close time 3pm.
S. K.
Breads with a personal touch. Made with Organic flour, their multi seed bread is very good.
D.
This bakery always has a long queue. Beautiful place with amazing baked goods. The bread is crusty and melts in your mouth and not to forget the hand crafted butter. The berry pistachio escargot was a bit sour to my liking though.
F. B.
#1 in Melbourne no doubt. Get there around lunchtime for their amazing pizzas!!
J. L.
I regularly choose to disregard my gluten intolerance to live in the bliss that is their baked goods 🥲 please keep making the olive bread
C. P.
Looking forward to trying your bread and pastries.
The line this morning just after opening went down the street and around the corner.
Better luck next time
S. L.
Long line because the bread is good
Real proper sourdough
Love the crust
J. T.
Absolutely worth lining up for; their sourdough has the reputation of being the best for a reason. The country loaf and the ficelle are my favorites. Make sure to check their socials before heading down in case they’re sold out though!
A. M.
I just can't believe the inherent success of this bakery, like many others. There's invariably a queue that snakes down the street and around the corner, everyone intently waiting to achieve the success of attaining purchase of some of the freshest, healthiest bread products. The owners of this shop have certainly landed on a goldmine of glorious items, which provide a propensity for the local populace to arrive early and eagerly wait with anticipation on a regular basis.
V. L.
Best bread in Melbourne, no substitution so far 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
S. C.
Wow, the baked goods here are of exceptional quality. My compliments to the chef.
Q. M.
You got to love their sourdough bread and puff pastries. And I'm French mate, I know bread and puff pastries😬.
J. R.
Not bad as far as Melbourne bakeries go, almost certainly the best in the eastern suburbs
C. H.
I am not a bread person or therefore bread lover, but I buy bread from here for my partner and my parents regularly. For the first time today after hearing them going on and on about the mini baguette rolls, I finally tried one today, without anything on it... yep, I get it. I get the queues, I get the hype, I get why they keep saying it's the best bread in Melbourne. Chewy, dense, super tasty yet also had a lightness to it... very, very good bread.
C. L.
The most popular fresh bread and people pick-me-up with a Sunday line extension of at least 3 blocks you're guaranteed to gain a few smiles and enjoy healthy carbs as well!
A. K.
Our first visit and certainly won't be our last. It was well worth the 5kms walk each way and the hot tip of checking the website out first to know what to order. A queue of 15+ people at opening greeted us, all socially distanced. The delicious escargot kept us fueled for the journey home and the carroway rye sourdough was enjoyed over lunch. Friendly and efficient service! 😎
O.
Very nice bread admittitly... but not cheap $15 for a small cheese cake! Though I'm sure soon as lock down is over we won't be queuing for bread... We will have a choice of other bakeries which offer just as good fair.
J. E.
Greatest bakery for bread in Melbourne! Amazing country loaf, bagels, gourmet pizza slices and plenty more. Be prepared for a 10-15 min late due to current restrictions but worth the wait.
M.
Bread is amazing quality - I understand the queues now, but sincerely wish we didn't have to queue in a pandemic
S. H.
Best breads for kilometers around.
L. T.
Best bread in Melbourne, worth the drive every weekend! If you don't know what to get, try the Country Long and if you can manage to not eat the whole loaf, use the leftovers in a cheese toastie. Butter on both sides and cook on your cast iron pan for ultimate goodness.
C. H.
Best place for bread for my taste. Limited on the pastry side, but what they have is excellent.
D. L.
The absolute best bread in Melbourne! I always find a way around my schedule to stop there as I don't want to eat any other bread anymore. Go on weekdays if possible, as they have queues and sell out quickly on weekends.
L. S.
Their bread is sensational. My son also loves their pizza, but get in early, as it's usually all sold out by lunchtime!
S. B.
Best of the best. Fresh warm breads to die for. Be prepared to queue up and arrive before 10am on the weekends or else sold out. I have met people who travel over an hour to get breads from here. A definite place to visit.
M. M.
Excellent bread. Just finished a complete baguette on my own. Best I've had. Scrumptious spelt seeded - loaf. Crispy crust but not so hard that it shreds the roof of your mouth. Just perfect. Good on you for making such a lovely product.
J. M.
This is the best bread you can get in the country. Hands down. I don’t know what else to say. It is in a class of its own.
A. G.
Love that I live so close to this fantastic bakery. Amazing bagels, challah, pastries & breads. Get here early to beat the crowd.
H. D.
Beautiful bread and croissants.
F. F.
A brilliant boutique bakery. Crisp crusts and fluffy bread with a wide range of breads and grains. Very popular, there is always a queue but its worth the wait.
B.
French-inspired bakery. Bread only, no viennoiserie, although a range of bagels are available.
No baguettes, only ficelles (their thinner sibling): these are made with white flour (ie T55), noticeable sourdough taste, crumb more closed than I'd expected, but the crust is astonishing: crackly satisfying awesomeness with excellent flavour. Not traditional, but a contender for best baguette in Melbourne.
N. &. D.
Best bread! Need to open more locations
C. Z.
Possibly the best bread I have ever tasted. Absolutely perfect texture and a wonderful dark caramelised crust. Try the heritage loaf on Friday and Sundays.
V. R.
Great sourdough bread the best in Melbourne
J. _.
Lovely bread. Very short queue at 10am on a Saturday. Love the ficelles and bagels. Not so keen on the fougasse which is dense and on the chewy side. Will try their house loaves next time.
P. A.
Generally try to avoid bread but can’t when we get it from here!! Still warm on purchase and absolutely incredible. The country is to die for and the bagels are superb also.
P. N.
One of the most flavoursome breads I've ever had. I love the chewy texture, I can taste the dedication to quality and appreciate the time it takes to make things this good.
A. H.
Best bread I've had in Australia. High attention to detail, sustainability focused and featuring some great coffee as well.
J. P.
The best sourdough I've ever had. Absolutely exquisite. I will be back to buy like 100 more loaves please!!
L. M.
We just moved back to Melbourne and our new neighbours told us about Baker Bleu. Their bread is fantastic and we are so excited to try every kind of loaf. Bravo!
s. m.
Best Bread in Melbourne. I have tried it all, my favourite the bagels. Also the jam is excellent here I can recommend them all - great products.
S. N.
Things sell in a bleu alright. Get in early otherwise you'll miss out. But definitely worth it.
N. H.
The best sour dough we know in Melbourne.
The raisin challah on Friday's is worth the queue.
Their home deliveries rock.
C. T.
If you’re wondering whether the line is worth it, it is.
Everything here is amazing, but their spelt bread rolls take the cake for me. Yummmmmmmiest bread in Melbourne.
K. C.
Your bread is to die for! Our whole family is in love!
T. R.
Some of the best bread in Melbourne! The Country Wheel is something to behold. 🤤
Get there early on the weekend.
D. N.
Best bakery in SE Melbourne
S. K.
Yummy breads and bagels. Get in early in the morning before they sell out and expect a que. We find some breads have a slight burnt taste.
D. V.
Best bread in town. The long queues outside the bakery on most days are a testament to that...!
D. B.
Best/freshest French bread in Melbourne!
M. H.
Amazing breads but usually so busy it's a long wait and they are way too over priced.
D. D.
Great little local bakery! I love how friendly they are and most of all their sourdough goods are delicious! Thanks and keep up the great work Baker Bleu.
B. H.

B. L.

C. C.

B. S.
Some of the best croissants and sourdough around. Highly recommended
A. P.
Loaves are sooo goood. Pastries are also delicious. You can feel the love. Highly recommended
S. M.
Just picked up a baguette and sourdough loaf. What a treat. Yummy crunchy crust with the perfect amount of chewiness. So tasty I just ate it with butter.
m. L.
Wow..I m always on the path for a better tasting bread..I now Don t need to continue the search..it's over.
Best bread ever!
J. g.
Great bread but very long waiting time and a bit pricey ($5.50 the pain of chocolat!)
m. j.
No wonder why this bakery is so busy! Best bread ever...But why overcook it? I have to remove all the burnt sides, they taste bitter and are unhealthy...
M. B.
Possibly the best baker bread in Melbourne? Big call. Worth the drive to Caulfield.
C. I.
Love love love the bagels - my favourite is poppy seed. Very limited batches. :-) Love rocking up to see what is available on the day!
A. H.
If nothing else, buy the dinner rolls. And buy 8 of them at least because you'll eat 4 just by yourself!
M. M.
