Comments of Falco Bakery

Falco lived upto all the hype!
Their pies were amazing - everything you want. The Rockwell pie is their signature pie and has a really nice cheeseburger style sauce on top. Also, their lemon cake was delicious and their croissants are top class.
Surprised it took me so long to go to Falco but glad I did, and definitely back for another one of their pies.

The BREAD here. Absolutely lives up to the hype. Favourite is the country loaf and the oat porridge one is also amazing!

The staff were pleasant.
Pies were a bit underwhelming considering all the excellent reviews.
Pie pastry was good but the filling was average.
The peanut butter miso cookie was average.

Super popular spot on Smith. Pastries and cookies, and sangas are always great, staff are friendly, coffee is delicious and comes quick. Really can’t ask for much more! I’m always going back at least a couple times a week.

If you could smell the aroma surrounding this busy block - that buttery sweet and smokey goodness just warms your soul!
Not surprised for the queue outside the store. They bake and cook their goods fresh to go for the day until sold out. Their display window is a huge bait, tempting me to order all their glistening pastries, miso cookies and chicken toasties. Too bad there wasn’t any pastrami kraut & cheese croissant that we were looking forward to.
Got lucky, grabbing the last Rockwell pie for the day, and boy was it worth it. The flaky spectrum falls in the extreme, as their golden puffed pie hats was just so full of texture, even tasty on its own. Each element of the pie was made to perfection - the crunchy integrity of the crust, the flaky hat, the smoky hot mince beef. Personally, I think the flavour tasted beyond your classic double smash patty burger. We ordered the special burger sauce on the side, but it wasn’t needed at all - it made the overall flavour too salty.
While my sister loved the flavour of the pie, I still found it a bit too salty alone. Concept and complexity of the pie was worth it all, but not sure if worth $9!
Would love to return here to try their beautifully smelling sourdoughs and pastries!

Good coffee.Decent chicken sandwich. (Avail after 10.30am ) Chewy and salty bread, would have been nice if it was cut in half but given the texture of the bread ( hard to take a clean bite without half the bread ripping ) not sure if that would have been possible. Almond croissant was burnt . Cheese toastie was just ok .

*OAT PORRIDGE LOAF ONLY REVIEW*
Making it back across interstate borders is one thing. But had this tesseract level grail of a loaf not made it back with me, then that would've been a true tragedy. The starter is mixed with oat porridge and organic milled flour, then fermented. The output is a super giving crumb structure that's very open and almost feels silken with every chew. A harder outer crust forms creating a truly toasted contrast as you bite through a slice of this amazing sourdough bread, the subtle porridge mix in making for a very lavish flavour.
Falco Bakery rose to prominence in the wake of Melbourne's lockdown, the longest one on record in the world. Although hard times befell the city, it was businesses like these that stuck to their impassioned vision to make comfort out of the essential for their locals. It was great getting across the border, finally meeting some this lovely crew and getting a dough baby back to Syds. The great subculture of the artisanal and bespoke providores in Melbourne is still alive and very much kicking.

What a nice introduction of my friend to this cafe. Absolutely great food. I'll come back again.
M. Y.
Local favourite, get in early for any specialty pastries or cake slices.

Their peanut butter and miso cookies are fantastic. Beautiful balance between sweet and salt. Highly recommended. Would be good to have it with black coffee as well. :

I tried the cinnamon and walnut scrolls and a chocolate croissant. The scrolls were delicious, highly recommended. The croissant was crispy and flaky, one of the best I've had. I enjoyed the quite bitter dark chocolate although it might not be everyone's preference. I will definitely be back to try as many options as possible.

Every suburb needs a Falco. Brought to you by an all-star cast, Falco delivers. Coffee using beans roasted in-house, incredible bread and baked goods. The pies and sandwiches are a stand-out. Definitely a must!
J. M.
That was A+ chicken sandwich had a good amount of fresh chicken, mayo mix and fresh salad. The bread was a sourdough with some sort of rye with the right amount of chewy bread, crunchy crust. The Rockwell broccoli was to die for. Milk bun yeew

The best biscuit I’ve had in a long time. Peanut butter biscuits are always a win, but the addition of miso takes this one to the next level. It’s crispy on the edges but so incredible soft and gooey in the middle and a steal at $4. Unless you have a peanut (or soy) allergy, this is a must try.

Tempted to visit for Almond croissant 🥐 as it looks popular with long queues on Smith Street.
However, it’s running out so fast. Should be getting there a bit early in the morning next time.
By the way, I’m not a big fan of coffee, but just gave a try , then absolutely love the Latte there, with Pastrami, Emmental and mustard croissant was amazing.
M. P.
I've always been a fan of the Rockwell double smash burger and was shattered when I heard they were closing their doors. But then news of their new bakery came and with it the Rockwell Pie and it did not disappoint.
I can't wait to find more excuses to stop by and eventually try everything on the menu, nothing pretentious, just really delicious food and great coffee. My only negative about this bakery is that it's not close enough to my home.
V. R.
Croissant is - amazing
Choco chip cookie - Really good
Cardamom bun - remind me my childhood
Curry lamb pie was good but I've had better pies.

Perfect croissant ! The crowd speaks for itself
After mass at the nearby church on Otter St, we wandered up Smith St for a coffee and came across this cafe/bakery shop. There was a good size queue at the counter. We joined the queue and weren't disapointed. The croissant was perfectly baked with fluffy and crusty skin and a delicious buttery taste. It goes perfectly well with an aromatic cup of latte! The crowd was not wrong. I am looking forward to next Sunday mass to try out other pastries :)

Go here probably 2-3 times a week
Literally EVERYTHING is delicious
Peanut butter miso cookies and the salad sandwich are absolute go tos
Z. D.
Came for the Rockwell Pie, stayed for the lovely staff and service. Best in the Fitzroy/Collingwood area.
E. B.
Ordering online is easiest, and I didn't have to wait in the queue to pick my order up. Cannot fault the hot cross buns! Amazing.
Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because it's really not a nice spot to stay and eat your treats. When I picked up my order at 11am, there was someone passed out outside, and the seating inside is quite limited.
J. R.
The bread is incredible. But do yourself a favour, and don’t leave without trying one of their toasties— insane!!
I. T.
The savoury danish - yum
The sourdough bagels -yum
The chai latte and coffee - yum
Basically it's all amazing! Such a great selection early in the morning but they sell out quickly! The choc chip walnut cookies and peanut butter miso cookies are my favourite cookies in Collingwood/Fitzroy
M. B.
if you are looking for a good croissant get one at falco its just delicious
S. S.
Falco was recommended to me as the ‘best chicken sandwich in Melbourne’ and it really didn’t disappoint. The chicken salad sandwich is made on a bread that’s perfectly soft with a crunchier crust, and has just the right amount of ingredients. Worth a visit for. Their other selections are also great, I recommend the salted choc chip cookie but you really can’t go wrong with anything here.
K. H.
This bakery has the best bread in Melbourne. Country loaf is to die for!
S. C.
Cookies and danish were very nice. Pleasant service and nice interior.

Speedy service on Easter Sunday, fresh hot cross bun, tasty coffee, lovely staff. Egg sandwich was ENOURMOUS, so full of goodness! Can not recommend highly enough.
C. X.
Came in a couple minutes past their closing time and was greeted with kindness. Got an egg sandwich, it turned out to be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The sourdough was incredibly flavourful and the veg was fresh even though it was the end of the day. Not even a beets fan but somehow it just works
Absolutely worth the hype, this place deserves more reviews. Definitely check it out!
E. B.
Seriously good stuff here , friendly service, Delicious bread & pastries.
N. B.
Chicken Salad Sandwich is a masterpiece. Extremely appropriate for a quick lunch as the service is lightning, however the coffee is slightly bitter (not my style).
R. E.
Spectacular on all levels... I am still thinking about the life changing ham and cheese toastie I had last week! During these tough times, an establishment like this that has outstanding customer service, spectacular pastries and life changing toasties is exactly what we need/why I love this city. I am thankful this place is within my 5km bubble. The weekend queues are warranted. We will be back time and time again!

Always a delight with the best hot cross buns in Melbourne
L. L.
Attention fellow Americans: Pastrami toasties and tuna melts every day. Both are 🔥
A. Y.
It was kind of really inconvenient for me that the hot cross buns were only available after 1000. And then all the effort put in to getting them I didn't feel reaped the rewards. Friendly staff though.
C. K.
Good coffee of course, but possibly the best chicken sandwich ever.
M. B.
Brilliant service, good vibes and of course exceptional baked goods, as you'd expect from the crew behind this venture. Amazing to have the double party smash back in pie form and the pastries are incredible, especially the cardamom scroll. Coffee is also excellent; easily the best on Smith Street and probably in Collingwood.
a. k.
Omg what do I say about this place, yummy cardamom buns, bostock was amazing. Coffee was good, service is always good. Love their egg sandwich as well. Not to forget their coffee is great as well.
j. d.
Epic. Flawless pastry, bread is above & beyond. The smell of the bakery is like their famous cardomon buns.
Service is also incredible, super friendly and those little touches like coming around from behind the counter to present customers with their goodies, is a really personalised touch. Fit out is gorgeous, vibe is relaxed despite a very popular opening already. Return clients are because of the service & quality of product for sure.
A.

Best bread in the area is the country loaf. Generally excellent and complementary to Babka's baked goods, which have a different style.

(Translated) Friendly staff and tidy interior. The croissant was very unusual. It's not hard enough and I don't feel like it's hard.
