A pie shop in the Footscray CBD area does sound a bit out of place, but certainly a welcome addition. Tried the Thai Red Chucken Curry pie and a sausage roll, topped off with a chocolate milk shake. The pie was an exquisite tasty delight with strong flavour of red Thai chicken. The sausage roll I found bit oily, but nice enough. Staff was friendly and helpful with positive vibes. Seating outside. They do provide knife and fork for finer pie dining. Worth a visit.

Delicious pies and we love trying their pie of the week. Our go to is the lasagne pie, but you won't find a pie here you don't like. The combo, pie with a pork & fennel sausage roll is the way to go.

We tried the steak, Thai curry, burger thief, and sausage roll. Steak pie was quite juicy and the meat is chunky. This is my fave among the 4. Thai curry has chunky chicken pieces and the flavour is quite strong. Flavour is nice but personally I preferred this on rice instead in a pie. The thief is like having a burger but in a pie and no bread. I was worried when I saw the pickles (I hate gherkin style pickles). Luckily it's not very strong flavour, so I can enjoy it. Sausage roll is the weakest of them all. Not sure if I enjoyed fennel bits on it.

SO. EFFIN’. GOOD. The Lasagna Pie definitely is my favourite. Delicious pastry & filling. Discovered these guys through another local cafe — Coe & Coe. They did a collab & that was so good, I had to go & try the rest of their pies!

Had the Thai Red Curry pie as well as the Pork and Fennel sausage roll. The pork and fennel was meat forward and not too strong on the fennel but with buttery pastry. The Thai red curry pie had solid chicken meat chunks and a lovely savoury note to compliment the puff pastry. They have vegan and vegetarian options which I plan on trying soon. I can’t wait to come back. EDIT 17/7/21: came back to try the lasagna pie as well as the weekly limited Mac and Cheese with Truffle. I’ve confirmed that regardless of the pies chosen, Pie Thief always churns out 5/5 pies. Thank you for the fantastic experience.

It is a great place to eat. Lauren is very lovely and great. I love the way she asks whether she can fill up my empty bottle with water. The water bottle was in my bag and she noticed straight away. Their Thai chicken pie is amazing. They even got great Milo.

Came for the cheesecake. Was not disappointed. Biscoff cheesecake was a good move. Definitely looks different from their first batch on insta. Missed the 5 point mark for me because it was slightly too sweet for my liking and at $6 a piece, it was a little dear. I'm definitely coming back to try a real pie. Pie Thief is very quaint and cute and offers am interesting selection of standard size and mini pies. The options rotate regularly and may sell out, so don't be disappointed if they don't have what you want. I tried the (off menu) veggie massaman pie which was rich, sweet and spicy with lots of peanut flavour. I also got a cold Milo which was fine but a bit bland. Service was not the friendliest but generally everything was pretty good.

The Creamy Mushroom pie can GTFOH! I love how deep the pie is, how buttery and firm the pastry is, how delicious the filling is, how the mushroom still has a bit of bite instead of it being over sautéed. If you dig coffee, this isn't the place to get your kick. I bought the 3Cheese Potato bake and Truffle pie cold to enjoy at home. I cannot wait for it to ooze into my mouth ha! I appreciate the note of how long to put in the oven and at what temp. Service was great, young lady was warm and welcoming, Thank you!!

Each of the pies have a bit of a unique twist which makes choosing one exceeding difficult. Needless to say, we’ll probably be back here to try the others! Pretty much one of the best pies you can get in Melbourne. They usually also have a pretty rock solid lunch special which includes a pie (your choice from the range) , a sausage roll (pork and fennel) and a can of drink for $15 which is well worth it.

I saw an sponsored article the other day talking about award winning pies. I've seen stickers for those kinds of things in the windows of bakeries for year. Naturally I expected Pie Thief to be up there as a top contender. Yeah nah. As it turns out they reckon some mince meat and Maggi demiglace slop from a borderline anonymous bakery in some suburb on the way to no where had the best pies. This is when I realised there must be two kinds of pies because otherwise Pie Thief would win every medal or prize up for grabs. So long story short ... Uhh yeah the pies are good. Get two or three I reckon.

They do change their flavours - and the new vegan one has a bit of spice to it. (please bring back the massaman!!!) They have a range of drinks; sodas, kombuchas etc or you can take the pie and grab a beer in the bar Joesphine's next door!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would... I LOVE the girl that served me, (Shelby?) and I cannot believe the taste of the pies. Saturday is my cheat day, so I ordered a Thai Red Chicken Curry (more coconutty than spicy) and a vegetarian Creamy Mushroom. I was going to have one bite in the car on the way home but ate both. Incredibly flavours, perfect temperature and moreish. I ended up going back into the shop and buying two more. Ridiculous. Support your local and buy one or more of these pies!!!

Brilliant place, have been going there for months. They cater to vegetarians and vegans, and have great new flavours every week! A bit on the pricier side, but it's so worth it for the customer service and supporting local community business. These guys always strive to make good pies and keep the community feeling happy and full!! Great coffee also. There is usually a line, but it's only a testament to how good they are!

Most impressed with Piethief pies. We agree that its the best pies in Australia. The crust is light, llaky but hold the fillings very well, We have tried the creamy mushroom pies, chicken and leek, lagsana and thai chicken so far, All amazingly good with delicious generous fillings that taste home made, unlike many pies in the market that cram their pies with gravy and other fillers instead of the real ingredients. Iv'e recommend a number of people here and everyone has loved it. My only gripe was that the mixture of the dimsim inside the dimsim roll had somewhat of a different taste to what you'd normally expect. I didn't enjoy it that one. Melbourne doesn't have a good pie culture so I'm glad to see Pie Thief make their mark on artisan pies. It feels 'old school' from the 80s, with an updated menu. I'm pretty sure meat pies in the 80s weren't as tasty as these ones. I'm partial to owls so they already got points in my book. You can tell they make their pies on site because you can taste the passion. Or was that cheese? either way, the pies were delicious. The lasagne pie is the pie that is getting Melbourne's food scene talking but I liked the steak and cheese, and bacon and egg as well. I look forward to trying the pork and fennel sausage roll next time. The pies are very popular and what's available does vary based on what sells and what is being made.

The nice lady also made a special soy chocolate milkshake with frozen bananas for lactose-intolerant me (it was delicious!!). Only reason I docked a star is the price of $7 per pie is a bit steep for the pie size as I probably need 2-3 to get full.

I tried the steak and cheese and the pork satay (pie of the week). I couldn't fault the filling. The meat was tender and the satay was authentic, even with some whole peanuts. The negative was the pastry. It was soft on the base and collapsed without support. The top also lacked crunch. If they can nail the pastry and it would be a 5/5.

What a great little pie shop with a very different range if pies need to visit shop a few times to try all the different pies and sausage rolls. My next visit will try pork fennel sausage roll If you like this review please like and share
