Comments of David Jones Food Hall
N. V.
David Jones Food Hall underwent a refurbishment in 2020 and it looks sensational. The deli and cheese counter has a great range of meats and cheeses, and so many cracker options. Range of fresh fruits and veggies as well as fresh meat and fish. Lots of pantry items including spices, chutneys and sauces.
There is a bakery section that has some pretty amazing desserts and breads. Try the passionfruit cheesecake, super delish.
Also stock ranges from British icons Harrods and Fortnum & Mason. Lots of ready made meal options as well.
Dining options include a dumpling bar and a grill. We went for the grill eatery and had the burrata and tomato salad and veal schnitzel, both were really tasty.

The refurbished food hall in the Elizabeth St store was a welcome city food experience when it first opened a few years ago. Sadly it has become a shadow of its former glory, certainly not helped by the pandemic. The range and variety of fresh food and pre-prepared food has become quite limited, albeit elegantly displayed

Not quite as charming and exciting as the old food hall. But fun to look around anyway.

Am really going to miss the old David Jones food court! Spoke to a staff member who said they squished the older area into this one spot. Used to be an absolute gem, they previously had such an exceptionally extensive array of every type of baked good you could imagine, in every style, flavour and shape. Now, your options are very limited. There’s a few types of muffins, a few pastries, and you can sit and eat in the little new, cornered off cafe area but it’s just not the same. I miss the old area, where you could literally buy over thirty different types of cakes. It’s just not the same!
They did have a decent array of edible food-related gifts around Christmas time, but the pricing is quite odd. Some items were exceptionally expensive and some relatively cheap, it’s up to you to spot what you want. Maybe I’ll give this place a second chance.

Roast of the day is delicious and a huge serving. Great lunch option when I'm in the city and really hungry. Several roast meats to choose from and a selection of sides to make a tasty lunch. Recommended.

The David Jones Food Hall has a lot of delicious fresh food options and grocery products. You can also sit and eat at various stations. My favourite is the Asian food section where you can get freshly made noodles and fried rice dishes. I had a really nice prawn and coriander salad.

Everything looks amazing but is it worth the price? We ate some cakes from the bakery/patisserie. Was not impressed. Had many better ones in other places.

A generous portion of delicious pasta cooked right in front of you and served piping hot and full of flavour. Both the lady serving and the young man doing the cooking worked fast and courteously. Plus, by Sydney standards, the prices were very good too. Top marks.

The Italian Bar serves up hot pasta that is cooked in front of your eyes. The ingredients are fresh and staff are friendly. The least attractive part is the relatively small portion size resulting in not the best value.
Overall, the Food Hall has a large variety of options. This ranges from an oyster bar, Asian food, Italian food and a juice bar (amongst others). Service appears quick and food is prepared fresh.

An exquisite selection of food, foodstuffs, packaged goods, sauces, dips, fresh produce, meats and seafood all in a luxe food court environment. Excellent service and product range make for a fantastic shopping experience.

Quiche was pretty good. Pie purchased was once warmed, but they couldn't reheat, but still tasted ok. Convenient toilet facility there. Can also pick up fruit, hot chicken, chocolates of sorts and some packaged snacks.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity / MCS / migraine review: the entrance near the perfume part of the store is too heavily fragranced for me to use but the other entrance is OK.

David Jones Food Hall used to be very popular with people who work around the area. However their selection has reduced since it renovated about 2 years or so ago. They provide a number of restaurant style stores (such as sushi train) in a food court setting.
After going there again recently, David Jones has further renovated and is now much more vibrant with its range, although the prices are also quite high.

Gourmet food court with less crowd hence much more relaxing 😌

Overall unimpressed. The Asian food was very ordinary. Needs improvement, lacking in flavour... the thing that matters most.
In a City full of amazing food David Jones isn't in the competition. Nice visit nonetheless and as a nostalgic landmark DJ needs to get back on their game and make the Food Hall great again

Great quality food and surrounds for a nice shopping break.

Good place to grab coffee, quick bite, or meatpies to cook at home

The food hall was amazing. So many different options that would please any person. There were many different cuisines for example Italian, Chinese etc. All different little stalls had heaps of options. Their was also a confectionery stall, a juice stall, a butcher, a sandwhich stall, a seafood stall and a few others. I went to the Italian stall and the pasta was really nice. The only problem was my pasta was a bit bland but it was still pretty nice. I am excited to come back and try somewhere else in the hall

It's not like it used to be.
The shelves do not stock the same interesting things they used to have.

David Jones food hall is amazing. I regularly eat lunch at the sushi train in the food hall, the food is always fresh and delicious there. The noodle bar, butchers, fruit and veg stand and deli are also amazing. Good quality food and produce. You pay a little more, it's worth the experience.

The food in the DJ's food hall is always fresh and hot. For a quick and tasty sandwich, the cafe in the bakery section is lovely and all the staff work very hard. Great coffee too!

A great range to choose from. Great butcher and tasty carvery. The best place to eat in Sydney city. Great espresso bar serving real coffee.
O. A.
Great service from the gentleman that served us at the wine section yesterday afternoon. He took the time to locate the champagne that we found difficult to source.

The Food Hall itself is awesome, but DO NOT have the Dumplings at the oyster bar, the worst I've ever had. Tiny, gloopy & flavourless.
P. P.
Great food and amazing offerings!
V. N.
Limited supply. Limited food. Very empty.

Love this place. Best quality fruit, vegetables and gourmet food items. I like all the eateries too especially the oyster bar and the chocolate covered berries counter.

We're from rural Australia so to see such a diverse range of products was brilliant. Excellent food selection great atmosphere excellent service.
c. b.
Great place to find niche and gourmet foods, gift ideas like fancy chocolates.
G. L.
Pricy groceries, but I always go for the dessert and bakery session since that’s the only part of DJ that worth spending gift cards on.
M. J.
When I need something that I can't find at your everyday Coles or Woolies, they seem to have it here!
P. I.
The quality of the food is excellent. They should consider having home delivery or Uber Eats.
A.
Perfect place to quickly pick a bite to eat. Always recommend the fresh sushi and caramel slice
J. N.
Not as nice as the one they used to have on Market St. It looks too gray inside needs another refurbishment.
s. w.
packaging is fancy, but quality needs to be improved

Has been a favorite lunch destination for years with many choices and a friendly social scene plus the institution - the Oyster Bar.

Very underwhelmed by the current range of products at the foodhall. Give me a Harris Farm, any day.

(Translated) A wonderful place and I come to visit it regularly, at least once a week. Asian bar I like both the food and the kindness of the staff, fruit and vegetable department, the fish market, many products packed by belching Europe. The bar in the corridor which makes excellent coffee. There is everything for all tastes.
