Comments of LAB Bakery Cafe Strathfield
B. A.
The atmosphere was great. It is a Korean desert place where I was surrounded with these lovely people. According to number of people in this premises, the sound level was still not too loud. No loud people amongst the customers.
The cakes were good. Not too sugary. I loved the Almond latte. It tasted arabica. I wish it was near my house.
S. P.
Delicious cakes, coffee and bingsoo! The mango one is the best. It’s very crowded, sometimes can be hard to find a table. Nice atmosphere.
a. b.
Best coffee I found in Strathfield!! You can’t experience this superb latte elsewhere. The pastries are tasty and fresh as well. But I only recommend to visit here in the morning when this TALL BARISTA serves you as in the arvo, the coffee tasted BURNT and was served in T/A cup even told them I was dining in.
C.
I’ve been here a couple of times. The bread is what you would get in Korea. This time I was pretty disappointed with the bingsu. They used frozen mango that was tasteless. If it’s not in season or you can’t get fresh I’d suggest to take it off the menu cos it’s the worst bingsoo I’ve had
N. l.
Great selection of cakes and drinks! It is a nice atmosphere and would definitely come back again!
z.
Tried a few of the cakes here and they are not too sweet to my taste. Wanted to try the taro cake but it’s sold out :(
E.
The strawberry cake was nice with smooth cream and not too sweet, but a little disappointed with the mochi because it’s a little too sweet and it says strawberry mochi but it tasted like red bean paste with no strawberry and for a $4.50 mochi I expect a little more.

This LAB Bakery is totally different from the similar name bakery in Eastwood, NSW.
There are various types of bread, cake, pastries, and coffee available. It was difficult to ignore those and just pass by this shop although I already had a big lunch. It was because of delicious smells.
Tasty of breads I purchased was reasonable and worth paying for.
Recommended!

Great place to enjoy your coffee and amazing cakes after having chaotic day at work. Staff are really professional and have eyes on each tables carefully to make sure customers have been served in the right manner. Once they brought my coffee in a take away cup and without me saying anything, one of the staff asked his colleague to change it straight away.
Thank you team and I really enjoy your company.
Highly recommended.

This is our "go to" coffee place after work. Their bingsoo is also a must try! Totally addicted to their baby cream puffs and macaroons! Their Staff are really lovely. Def recommend this bakery they have a wide selection of bakery goods!

I came to the LAB Bakery on the way to work and i am definitely coming here a lot more often now. The atmosphere is so calming and there is a variety of desserts, cakes and breads on offer. I ordered a Chai latte, macarons and bread piece. The staff were very kind and the food was obviously made fresh in the morning. Extra note, the bread was very soft and were made to the maximum quality.

A regular of Lab bakery. We visit almost weekly and have ordered many cakes from Lab for all sorts of occasions. Personally, the Taro cake is amazing, and the Oreo and Mango cakes are also worth trying. I love the Blue Lemonade and can also recommend the Matcha Crush.
Bingsoo is delicious too! Some times the wait is long and the store gets very crowded but its worth the wait if you have time.
K. V. G.
We tried this cafe out, the smell of the coffee wafting out was the best!
Stand out for me were the baby cream puffs and the Oreo cake slice. Wasn't too fussed on the cheesecake. Mind you my family loved it. Many different breads, pastries, sweets, cakes, hot and cold drinks. Very trendy and very busy.
Quite pricey but a lot of love and labour goes into each piece.
M. J.
As far as coffee goes, have never had it so good. I’ve been visiting this cafe since opening but never felt coffee tasted good. This tall barista in the morning ALWAYS MAKES GREAT COFFEE THAT I WANT TO VISIT EVERY MORNING.

***FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE***
✅ Tried their french macaroons and liked it. Not to sweet and the filling is thick.
✅ So many varieties of cakes, pastries and even drinks. Their cakes are aesthetically appealing!
📌 Very busy environment on a Friday night.
M. H.
bingsu itself tastes great but the mango and strawberries are frozen, too sour and cold
J.
Very crowded but other then that the dessert was very good.
T. K.
LAB is one of the best Korean bakeries in Sydney. Their cakes are phenomenal and sandwiches are fantastic as well. The pastry scientists in the LAB makes some of the most unique & delicious cakes for their customers. I love the fact that they always try something new. I recommend everything they have to offer. It’s usually all good.
K. S. (. h.
Very rarely that you get to eat cakes that taste as good as they look.
J. L.
Cool spot to come have a drink, dessert and to hang out. Plenty of seating.
M. G.
Visited for the first time today. Ordered an soy ice latte and it was delicious! Perfect coffee :) Service was very quick also. New go to spot for coffee if I'm in strathfield!
L. S.
This is my favourite Cafe around inner west. Love their bingsoo a lot, as it is the finest bingsoo I had ever have. I keep coming back for their bingsoo after trying a few in other stores. Mango bingsoo is the best! Also, their cakes are amazing too! Recommending taro cake, but not the rainbow cake!
R. Y.
Really happy to enjoy a classic cake and a cpu of coffee at 21:40 !
L. D.
Love every bread/cake/mochi from this place. A little expensive compare with other bread shop, but it offers korean style bread/cake that is rather special in taste and texture. I always buy their flat mochi like rice cake with read bean. Sooo good. And their mochi donuts deep fried also tasty. Everything is good in this shop.
C. W.
Tried the rainbow yoghurt cake and it was delicious, light, soft and fluffy 😁
My cappuccino was nice too, asked for no sugar and it was the perfect strength. It is pricey for cake but worth the try. They are always busy, waiting for a seat may take a while.
A. P.
We tried the strawberry shaved ice and ot was nice :)
M. W. (.
Ok I've found my new favourite bingsoo place! Have been searching all over Sydney to find somewhere that can get the snow to topping ratio right.
This mango bingsoo was delicious since the ice was finer than other places & there was enough mango, mochi & sauce to balance the ice.
Also tried the oreo shake 🥤 and raspberry lemonade. Both drinks were refreshing and good value for money.
This bakery is a little more sophisticated than other Asian bakeries. They have a Korean influence with mochi, melon soboro & a cake that I want for my next bday - rainbow yoghurt cake!!.
Seating was luxe with cute blue chairs, marble tables & gold cutlery if you dine in. There was also music and wifi too! Service was great with staff greeting me as I was browsing through the various breads and my meal came out quickly. Will definelty be back to try the cake & coffee.
R. P.
Similar structure to the typical Asian bread store but instead you have the choice to dine inside or if the weather is good, I think it's nicer to eat outside the public benches and purchase other food from the area such as corndogs with an assortment of drinks. I've yet to try their cakes or bingsu but I recommend their savory breads and for sweets, melon bread and their cream puffs at the counter.
p. w.
Nice environment with very relax music,
good presentation of cakes and pastry. However, coffee just average.
S. T.
Amazing range of cakes and pastries to eat in and take away.
Their shaved bingsu ice varieties are tasty and easy to share as a group.
Only downfall is their seating space. There is a bit of a wait if you come during peak times.. Even if you do get a seat, you are almost touching elbow to elbow to the seats next to you.
S. T. (.
If you love carbs like me, this place is heaven!
As a start, coffee was great (from Pablo & Rusty).
As a bakery, they have a large variety of Korean style bread, cakes and baked goodies.
My favourite bread so far: fried pastry ball with sesame, coffee bun and the savoury bread with bacon and cheese.
For the cake, I love their taro cake. So soft and perfect in sweetness.
The highlight for me was definitely the mango bingsoo. This dessert is so refreshing and delicious!
Bonus: Free wifi
N. a. H.
A bakery with huge Korean influence. You can find huge selections of Desserts and Breads here. The Barista are also well trained with their coffee art making it a perfect blend of combination to pair it with the dessert. Overall our experience with the dessert was that it was nice and neutral, not too sweet and really nice for an afternoon snack.
And most conveniently 20 meters from the Strathfield Station so you can always takeaway and hop on the train home or elsewhere.

Nice place to have a hot drink and something sweet. The cheesecake is yummy (think Tetsu) & the chocolate Nutella tart was also very good. Highly recommend the taro latte!
If you are lucky to sit at the front tables it’s a great place for insta pics. It was pretty busy on the Sat night I came here so be prepared to wait for a table or get takeaway.
J. L.
I rarely dine in as it can be loud, but always here for a cake or two. The celebration cakes always wow our guests. Can get very busy.
s. s.
This a good cafe with lots of small bites and interesting pastry options.it is usually pretty popular with younger crowd like most cafes and eateries in the Strathfield station area and getting a seat could be a challenge. The coffee is average but the light eats are worth a try. The items are slightly higher priced.
R. G.
The food looks really tasty, I like the unicorn coffee and Nutella cake. There is plenty of seating and a quiet atmosphere, good place for students to study. The staff are very nice.
S.
I have tried a number of cakes from LAB Bakery, and they haven't disappointed me at all. Also, I've ordered the assortment of cakes this morning, requested to deliver them to my place at 1:30PM. It arrived exactly at 1:30PM at my door step. I will happily recommend this place to others, and definitely go there again. Thanks, LAB Bakery.
C. C.
Very busy dessert place. Sweet potato cake was a very pleasant surprise, it’s very flavoursome, soft and fluffy. Nutella cake is not bad as well. They also have beautifully ice dessert.
E. O. (.
Like the aesthetic, food, and drinks on offer, and the staff have great customer service. However I found it quite odd that we werent given serving plates to eat the pastries we picked out. They served it nicely cut up on a slab that made for a cute picture, but beyond that it was impossible to eat without crumbs and the pastry dusting going everywhere.
M. M.
I want to give a five stars.😋💕
I love this place!
There's the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life. 👍✨✨
And there's many variety breads and cakes.😁❣️
They're also great.😘♥️
I guess you can enjoy your coffee time.
But there is always many people and busy and noisy.😅💦
This cafe is very popular. 😚💕💕
E. N.
LAB is my go to cake shop if I want light and fluffy cakes that aren't too sweet. Although the price of a single slice can be considered quite expensive (~$7 per slice), the serving size is very generous. Other baked goods are also great, especially the pull apart garlic bread!
W. 1.
Modern Korean bakery and dessert place a decent hangout spot conveniently located by the Strathfield train station. Just prepare for long queues.
b. f.
Quick service. Had the rainbow cake (delicious), and strawberry cream bun with berries (amazing).
And the coffee.. the BEST coffee in Sydney!
I love this place. ❤🥰
J. S. n. S.
Great korean style bakery. Koreans get the iced dessert (mung bean flavour). The breads are always v fresh!
A. P.
What a delight to have this delicious Bingsoo (Patbingsu)!
Perfect for sharing with your friends and family. Or if feeling too good about yourself, go ahead and finish it by yourself. Perfectly priced, nice service and so many yummy options to choose from. I feel like this is an underrated place that everyone should try once. Thanks for this Lab!
D. T.
Great tiramisu bingsu! Trendy place with nice snacks and desserts.
E. N.
Got a fresh cream fruit cake. Really moist cake and delicious however the fruits inside are cans fruits. Would prefer to have more fresh fruits in it. The cream is perfect, fresh and not oily.
엘.
Variety of choice for bread, dessert, and beverage.
Taste and quality is fairly good. Nothing really special, but easy to go in and grab some quick dessert.
Staff were nice, but I took out one star because covid safety measures were not strictly followed(didn't check if customers checked in, I saw someone without mask on but wasn't said anything, people were touching packaged bread and putting them down again but nothing was said).
I do like coffee here.
J. A.
Love this place so, so much! Whenever I want a really cosy place to sit and read with coffee and cake, I come here. The baled goods are always brilliant, the coffee is always really great, and the staff is always so nice. They also have great music, it's honestly the perfect café.
C. Y.
We came in and quickly changed table after a couple leave. But I forgot my phone on the original table. Thankyou to the friendly and beautiful smiling waitress who brought it back to me. And the taro cake and peach crush were really tasty.
T. A.
Sweet Customer Service!
Uniform taste! How can bread, juice, coffee and all taste good? It's a perfect place. It's the best!
K. “. M.
Great drinks and food. Authentic Korean café experience. Staffs were helpful and quick. One small downside is that they tend to clean guests’ table before the guests have a chance to finish their drinks. Definitely need an improvement on this one.

I drive willingly from the Eastern Suburbs for their Korean style baby cream puffs (mix of custard and fresh cream), buttery custard pound cake which is deceptively plain-looking but do not ignore it, and finally refuelling on their excellent bingsoo before driving back.
J.
Varys great looking cakes. I'll say the taste is average, nothing special but if you need a last minute birthday cake, then I'll suggest trying this place out.
R. B.
The food tasted amazing, i had a sausage pizza roll and mini sausage pizza both were served cold . The place is pretty cool, cozy but flies every where. Specially the restroom was unhygenic near to kitchen. There was so many flies in the toilet.
n.
delicious pastry, nice environment with kind staff. the red bean donut was really nice and the place was packed and lively :)

Coffee: Pablo & Rusty's
Single origin: available
Features: plenty of seating, bathrooms, free WiFi
For me, Strathfield has been a totally unserviced coffee location for years. Sure the brands have opened up cafes here, but the coffee has always been more American deli bitter, than Sydney cafe delicious.
Having convinced my son to come on a #coffeehunt with me, we found ourselves at @lab_bakerycafe in Strathfield. Running @pabloandrustys as house, this elegantly rustic bakery cafe seems like everything that Strathfield has been missing.
While I am certain that the bread/cake side of things, along with the real juice and iced beverages more than make this place a popular hangout, naturally I only care about the coffee.
Starting with the Porter St blend as a mac, it had strong 90% dark choc bitterness, with mild custard cream breaking through as you drink, though finishing in a strong roasty traditional coffee flavour. Certainly not something that I would order.... unless of course you were in a bakery selling lots of sweet bread/cake options, to balance the coffee experience. So probably a good choice of blend in the long run, aside from the fact that they are also running a single origin (for a #coffeesnob like me).
While the first sip of the Mexican Triunfo Verde was quite bland, with low sweetness, a substantial coco mouthfeel and light medicinal finish, you'd think that the espresso was a write-off. Until you took the second sip and found a fresh cranberry tartness, followed by a strawberry sweetness. Sadly the though slightly bitter medicinal finish remained, but otherwise, a really delicious coffee.
With free WiFi, super comfortable seats, and plenty of room, this seems to be a fantastic cafe to come in, sit down, and chill out with friends. Hopefully there are other cafes like this around Strathfield.

Lovely and tasting food. Ended up ordering a few cakes, and this ice-cream thing. The food at this place is ridiculously good. The customer service are okay, nothing much to expect though. However, it is overpriced. $45.00 for a medium sized cake is a bit too much. I understand that love and labour go into making such delicious cakes, but asking for nearly $50 on a medium sized cake is not reasonable, in my opinion. Additionally, it is really overcrowded. I had to spend 15 minutes wondering back and forth in the joint just to get a seat. To be fair, I could see why it was overcrowded. This place is definitely one to visit. I have already recommended it to a few friends. Just be patient with finding a seat, and be mindful of your wallet.

Korean style bread shop
Wifi, tap water, AC inside, many seats u can have fun in there Pretty deco cakes n soft bread Seems to be they know what people like If u need to buy cake, grab here People will like that.
M. L.
Tried bingsoo from many places and this place still has the best.
Very fine milk shaved ice.
J. H.
A very tasty cheese cake and frothy taro latte - great place for dessert!
B. S.
Shaved ice dessert was a nice sweet treat. The serving is large and can be shared between two people. Many other nice desserts and drinks.
Y. S.
I can see why the crowd are flocking to this cafe. They have wonderful cakes. And if you like sweet potato, you definitely have to have a slice of it. Its delightful.
Y. S.
The only things I felt good with here were the shop layout and the opening hour. However, as a bakery café, honestly I’m not a picked people usually, I have tried cheesecake, mini puffy, and the mochi, they all taste not good enough. BTW, the Latte that I have taste burning......
J. C.
Decent cafe with a onsite bakery. Bake goods looks delicious, drinks and see desserts are good for girls who like to gram and taste very nice. Service is good with lots of tables for seating.
P. C.
⭐️Bread: many kind of choices compare with Taiwan style
⭐️Coffee: difference with some Australia coffee, taste like roast coffee. I like this coffee much!
It’s remind me I was traveled in Saul :)
⭐️Cale: slice and whole cake, I’ve tried cheese and chocolate cake, price a bit high with normal taste.
N. L.
Great tasting cakes that never disappoints. This is the mango cake. So delicious.
M.
Great experience. The pastries and cakes we tried were delicious. It is a little expensive for some items and there is some confusing combinations but all up it was a positive experience. Very hard to find a park out front.
E. S.
Lots of baked goods, bingsoo. The matcha latte and taro latte were very nice! Nice chairs and tables too. But a lot of people studying and taking up space. Also they dont seem to have enough cups and plates.
A. G.
This is my favorite bakery in Sydney. They make everything fresh and it's absolutely delicious. The staff are very friendly as well. And their coffee is always perfect. No complains at all, you can never go wrong with Lab.
E. W.
My husband surprised me for my birthday with a taro cake. It was so light, fluffy and delicious!!! 10/10. Can’t wait to try the other flavours!
F. K.
The best cakes in Sydney. Always very fresh and very delicious. I highly recommend
K. H.
Good cakes, but can be better. The boxes for takeaway are pretty, and easy to open up to then share.
e.
good atmosphere cakes were so pretty and delicious but slightly expensive
T. W.
Really nice, petite cafe to visit after dinner on a cold night. Service was great! We visited on a busy night and the staff mixed up my order by accident. After finding out, they worked as quickly as possible to get me the correct order and gave us complimentary desserts to take away! Very courteous staff; even under pressure, their customer service is on point. I enjoyed my stay :)
M. G.
Great selection of baked goodies. Lovely staff. Good proximity to the station, you can easily go there while waiting between train services.
A. N.
Here on a lazy Monday morning. Loved the classic interior and jazz music. Perfect for reading a book on my own. The sausage roll would've been better heated up, and the latte felt a little watery, but not bad overall.
a. c.
Great place for your after-meal place to hang out . Friendly and good ambience . It appears all the female staff are good looking . Kudos to the owner
S.
We were given a Beautiful Cake from LAB The Bakery Cafe it was amazing
정.
This place was always crowded anytime . I like Bingsoo . Always awesome and staff was always kind and good service . I like this cafe . I often can’t find to seat 😭. Good cafe place. Very near station . Good👏
T. C.
Today I bought Plain Yoghurt Smoothie less ice.
I think the lady in white shirt may make a mistake with my drink: instead of yoghurt powder she probably used just milk powder. End up: my drink was just like milk shake really sweet, not yoghurt. As I bought for my wife, I did not try straight away and only realised when I got home.
Hope you will not be in this mistake again. Your drinks have been really good, except this time.
S. P.
Coffee is OK and great korean/Asian style cake and sweet bakery.
P.
The bread with whip-cream is good. Those cakes were fine but bit over priced.
R. C.
Cafe offering in house Korean baked goods. Great spot for catch ups, atmosphere is good and the staff will not rush you out. I had a taro cake which was okay.
C. J.
Nice bread and tart. I like the mango tart.
J. M. O.
I ordered a large cup of mocha there, which is a nice quality. I didn’t anticipate like that but it was an amazing one. Try it.
H.
Lab mango cake 🎂 I loved it 😊
S. J.
I come to this bakery/cafe from quite far away with my mum, myself and my brother to buy things. The drinks are always amazing and same as the bakery which I just love. Wish I could live near here to buy the products. It's worth it to come here from far away.
L. 0.
Busy but love the atmosphere! Delicious baked bread, cakes! and my favourite Matcha latte is divine!
C. M.
Have only come here for drinks which were alright. Trendy bakery/cafe that’s mostly busy and bustling with people. Coffees were standard and the service is ok.
T. H.
The best Korean style bakery in Sydney. Fantastic quality bread.
S. y.
love their red bean bingsoo. great envirnment~
a. b.
Nice desert.. And cakes.. Always busy
I wish if there was detail description of menu.
As i had to ask staff about content of dish and it took lot of effort by them to translate to me in English to understand.
L. S.
Bingsoo at LAB is so nice and creamy, just wish there were a few more mochi in it!
J. C.
Pretty good cakes, breads and drinks. Would recommend their Bing Su. Biggest problem with place is that the majority of stuff on their menu is fairly overpriced. Also, it would make a decent cafe to get some work done, but the fact that their powerpoints are present but not working are extremely frustrating.
V. &. N.
This place has a warming atmosphere whether you are alone or with friends. We have only tried a few things from the menu. This includes the cakes: mango, strawberry, fruit and blueberry. The flavours of the cakes were very subtle but overall nice. The hibiscus iced tea however, is delicious! It was delightful and refreshing. What more could you ask for? Another bonus about this place is that it opens until late and they have a wide variety of things to choose from when you feel like something sweet but not too overwhelming.
W. S.
I brought this ( strawberry cream ) cake for my friend’s birthday.
The Strawberry was sweet and the cream wasn’t too sweet. It’s Just for us. Very delicious!
A. L.
Tried the mango creamy cake and taro cake, quite average and too sweet.
C.
delicious mango bingsoo, strawberry mochi and strawberry cake!
there is always a wait, but that's to be expected when the food is so good.
staff could do a better job cleaning the tables!
R. R.
I give this place maximum marks as it has such a great and unique variety of sweet and savoury breads, pastries and desserts.
Also, the coffee is surprisingly of a high quality and taste from a place specialising in baked goods.
Must try the Jalapeno Pizza Dog, as well as the Roti Bun and Morning Bread.
This place definitely takes the cake (pun intended) over its closest competitors who have risen (bonus pun) to fame.
A. L.
Lovely atmosphere and very toasty in winter. Quick service and the beverages and pastries were delicious.
A. A.
Nice variety of breads. Enough space to sit and enjoy them with a coffee or you can takeaway. It's not very fancy space though. The only option for parking would be the plaza.
V. D.
Everything in this bakery tastes great.
L. Z.
I ordered mango shaved ice and the taro cake. Both are spot on.
A. L.
It's a nice atmosphere with friendly staff, and most of the food are undeniable yummy 😋.
However, the bingsu is not made as shaved ice mixed with dairy products, instead it's made solely as shaved milk. I found that quite misleading, as "bingsu (빙수)" directly translates to "shaved ice". For people who are lactose sensitive, this was quite unsettling 🤔. I'd recommend they change the label from bingsu, or have an extra description.
I'd still go back for its amazing food, but I hope they realise misleading advertisement is pretty serious issue.
L. A.
Loved the blueberry cake. The best cake shop ever!!
B. D.
Amazing bakery/cafe. Tonnes of options from pastries to biscuits to cakes and drinks. Seating area available out back aswell with a very contemporary jazzy vibe.
The iced chocolate is my favourite item. Always get it when I'm in Strathfield.
H. P.
The guy who was working at the counter in the morning on Oct 20th is so nice!! 😍 His kindness made my morning 💜
A. Y.
Mango shaved ice - delicious and refreshing. Only downside was the mago was sour and tasted like packaged frozen magoes. Would be 5star if they used fresh magoes - $20 for a large bowl.
Best part is the slightly sweet and milky ice that melts in your mouth.
Q. M.
So many slice cakes for you to choose but my no.1 favourite is the TARO cake!
N.
Popular place on a Thursday night but our group of 6 still got a table. Reasonable prices and good service. Modern decor is nice too.
S. F.
Overall the location is great to get too. But pricy on the menu so had to skip on dessert.
Would rate higher if the prices were reduced. Can find better for a lot less
E. L. L.
Well displayed and tasty bread that can be found in strathfield.
Varities with the range.
W. C.
Lots variants of bread and cake. Like this place for chill with friends and fams. Crowded on the weekend
k. C.
Exceelent working staff. The way the handle the order is way better than any other bakery store in NSW. And the cakes are delicious.
N. H.
Their macarons are delicious! Highly recommend.
And I enjoyed their other items like taro cake and melon bun.
R. B.
A real bustle on a Sunday and no surprise, given the pastries and cakes on offer here. You can pop pastries on a tray and order your coffee at the counter. They have some Korean baked goods that you won’t find at similar Chinese style bakery/cafes. Delicious.
S. c.
The interior is modern and clean. The chairs here are really comfortable. Staff are very kind.
A good selection of bread and cakes. They have great bingsoo! The drinks are delicious. A nice place to come and relax.
S.
I have eaten here many times ,and tried many of their slices of cakes in the display. Always very good and great flavors available. Ambiance is great, and its a nice chill spot to hang with friends after dinner. They also serve coffees and other iced blended drinks and smoothies. The Lychee crush and Matcha Crush are my favorites. Today I ordered a custom birthday cake with customised birthday message and it was delicious. All of my guests LOVED the taro cake. Really good price for the 10/10 quality of cake, and the size. I will definitely come back here for my birthday cake needs!! HIGHLY recommend
e.
The best cafe I’ve ever been in Sydney. The cakes are moist, light and fluffy. You cannot stop at just one piece! Coffees are great too, not to mention the service is friendly and very welcoming. I can’t wait to be back. It deserves more then 5 stars!
J. R.
Oreo bingsoo was delicious. Ice shavings so light and fluffy
A. R.
Good place to visit with friends to chat. Good collection of cakes. Accepts birthday cake order. Fruit cake is awesome. Velvet is a bit too sweet for me.
Very crowded on weekends.
D. V.
I got a mango cake delivered for my birthday. It was awesome
A. C.
Tried out this cute little cafe upon a recommendation of a friend and what a pleasant surprise it was! The interior is well thought out and created a great atmosphere to enjoy my food and coffee. I tried their coffee (Pablo & Rusty's!) which was delicious and accompanied by some impressive art. You must try out their Berry Cream bread!
J. D.
A truly sensational experience! I enjoyed a creamy flavoursome tiramisu bingsoo and several delicious freshly made cake. The green tea take has robust flavours which hits you with the bitterness off the green tea powder and is then pleasantly cut through by the sweetness of the filling and sponge. The beauty of these cakes is very appealing to the eye, and the bonus is they taste better than they look! You can also have a sit down meal at the cafe which I am yet to do, but no doubt I will be back for more amazing food.
J. P.
The cake decor is incredible, service was friendly and the cake was a standard Korean bakery cake; pillowy and soft. There was a little too much cream for my liking but they had to use lots of cream to make the decor look good.
The cake was a fruit cake, they had to put lots of cream for the decor by the look of it.
D. S.
Great atmosphere with yummy treats! Do try Bing Soo (shaved ice dessert). Perfect for hot summer days 😍
R. R.
The best cafe in Strathfield, hands down. They have a good selection of breads too! Love how you can study too...but its so hard to get a seat sometimes due to the popularity. The staff are really friendly and nice.
G. A.
Pretty cakes but too sweet and exy. I feel they are only 'Insta photo' worthy. Oreo Bingsoo there is especially so sweet, I thought all my teeth were melting off. When I commented this to a staff, she said it is apparently made that way for kids. We had 3 kids in our group and even kids wouldn't touch anymore.
M. M.
Lovely Bakery and a Cafe too. I had Taro Latte after going through the older reviews and it was so amazing. First time tried it and it was so creamy and delicious.
R. A.
Love picking up bits of bread for a treat on a weekend from LAB, my recommendation are the glutinous rice balls, an amazingly priced snack that is full of flavour!
My girlfriend likes the coffee too
P. E.
I had lovely customer service from them online and in store. The cafe is cosy and has a very nice atmosphere and can see why it's a popular place to catch up or study or maybe even write a novel? Great atmosphere and ambiance.
I'd give 5 stars but at the moment have not found buns that I've really liked (tried their hot dog bun and the Korean version of a Chinese Pineapple bun). The cakes were beautiful and presented lovely in a nice box, however the cake I ordered (Rose) was very creamy which is spot on for some palletes but for my Asian family was too much cream.
Overall lovely place and staff. As for the food it can be subjective to pallete. Could perhaps ask staff tho for recommendations
j.
Best cake ever. They're a bit pricey. Heard their coffee wasn't great though. The bakery section is pricey too but delicious. Best to get it in the morning when it's fresh out from the oven. I recommend the custard puffs and fruit cake!
J. N.
Came at 1PM which was a little busy but there still plenty seats. Stayed for an hour to chill. Very relaxing and a great place to study. They have charging ports too. The food is nice though I personally think they are tad bit expensive. Their pastries are similar to Breadtop or 85 Degrees which can be bought much cheaper there. Though, I like their strawberry mochi.
L. J.
Staff are efficient (maybe a little too efficient - suggestion: leave empty mugs on tables while people are still seated unless they're needed...makes people feel rushed!). Cheaper coffee than most other places in Strathfield. Usually packed, to the point where it's very uncomfortable. Internet rarely works properly, and if you do manage to connect, you're competing with three trillion other users for bandwidth that you just give up and end up using your own. Music can sometimes be louder than the customers screaming at each other. I think it would be the perfect place to have a coffee and relax if it weren't for the other people.
B. B.
Price is a bit rip off. But there are reasons lots of people still visit this place.
1. Bread flavour is great.
2. Cake range is awesome.
J. C.
Quite busy at night BUT it’s worth getting a cake or bread there. My favourite korean bakery in Sydney by far... cream cakes are so gooood (especially the rainbow cake). 🙂
P. T.
nice cozy cafe with a great selection of cakes, bread and other bakeries, also great coffee! 🥰 taro cake is one the best imo
J. S.
Their breads are pretty good and fresh. However some breads are way too sweet, especially ones with red bean inside. Would be more recommended if they can reduce the sugar level in the sweet red bean.
H. B.
Easily the most consistently good coffee in Sydney, the range of pastries and desserts are to die for. Glad to be around to experience LAB
O. H.
What a great cake I got from them, it was taro flavour and we all loved it! Ordered it online and their website is so user friendly! Was ready on time with no drama. 100% going back for more cakes and desserts
R. C.
Amazing creamy cakes. Comes in large and small size so perfect when you only want a small size for a family gathering. Will definitely be back to try the other cakes!
B. H.
Awesome bakery cafe with a cool ‘lab’ concept. Great coffee and bread; well-designed interior.
Would recommend the iced long black - they use a special blend from Pablo & Rusty’s exclusively for non-milk coffees.
T. B.
The cakes here never disappoint. Had the blueberry bake for Christmas treat and it was amazing.
Also previously had they profiteroles which were also amazing. The cream is 🤤.
Would recommend for anyone around the area.
E. A.
Great service , friendly and always great cakes , love this place
H. Y.
Giving them 4 because cannot say I loved all their breads ; However,
Service - friendly and relatively good.
Breads - very Korean breads. If we can say Breadtop / 85C represent Chinese style bakeries, this can represent a quality Korean bakery. I have tried several Korean bakeries (in NSW) with disappointment in both taste and selections; there have been no shops let me go back but this will do. I already recommended to my Korean friend to try!
Coffee - so so, but they did their best. (You will see what I mean when you have a coffee there, not a takeaway)
Interior - quite nice but very packed; However, how many bakeries are providing that many seats though we want? - just a few. So I didn't mind.
- I tried strawberry mozi- personally preferred this than the popular Watermelon cake in Newtown. Sweet enough, fun from chewy texture with a bit of redbean taste. Then mouth was washed out by sweet strawberry at the end! Highly recommend for people with North Asian background. (My Chinese friend loved this, too)
I will update when I have cake next time
G. W.
Nice place to sit and talk, fancy baked goods.
V. I.
Very busy cafe and during the evenings it can be difficult to get a seat. Ive been on separate occasions and I tried the cake the first time which was a little dry and lacking a wow factor. The wow factor was in the unicorn coffee art which lets be honest, everyone loves unicorns.
The second time we had the bingsoo, which is a finely shaved ice dish. This was nice and tasty. Eat it fast as it is nicer when it is fresher. The tiramisu was way nicer yummier than the oreo flavour.
J. C.
Great cake and pastry! I love how they are all made from the back kitchen. Coffee was great too! Customer service was amazing too. Would love to come back again :)
J. H.
This place is nice! Fantastic stop if you had a bit too much chilli and need something to quench the fire from your tongue. Also great if you want simple, well made cakes that do more for your Instagram than for your tastebuds. Not that they taste bad by any means, simply that their purpose is clear and they focus on fantastic presentation and have mastered the basic flavours.
Coffee here is good and from quality roasters Pablo and Rustys. I've yet to try the black, but white coffee is enjoyable and definitely complements the cake. The flavour is once again, simple but focused. Those that enjoy a brighter, fruity taste will appreciate their iced latte.
The interior is clean and fits a comfortable theme, strangely contrasting the cafe name.
I would definitely come back if I've got a sweet tooth and don't feel like bingsoo.
P. T.
The Lab is a great place if you want to catch up with some friends over coffee. Their pastries are fresh, and are baked with high-quality ingredients. I love their mochi-covered strawberries! It takes me back to Japan
L. H.
Nice Korean style dessert👌 Coffee is not special.
M. H.
Why is there no more Uber Eats? :(
M. W.
Great range of Korean baked goods, cakes and coffees, perfect for a nice coffee and cake sit down, also perfect for buying celebration cakes or baked good gifts.
I.
Great selection of tasty baked treats, cakes and coffee. Great atmosphere in the heart of strathfeild. Walking distance from the train station and open till late too. Perfect for dates, catch ups or even some down tempo study. Has WiFi and power ports for laptops.
O. D. P.
Probably one of the best bakeries around in the west/inner west. Good atmosphere and mood lighting. Lots of Korean customers, which is a given I guess since it's Strathfield. I always preorder the cakes online and pick them up at the specified time. The cream frache on their cakes is to die for!
J. K.
The food is nice and the workers are always so nice. Seeing their smiles helps me when I'm sad. Thank you to the barista that smiled so brightly to me. Nobody has smiled to me like that for so long.
J.
Really wonderful service! The girl at the register was helpful, smiley and very patient. My friend and I got the tiramisu bing-soo, our first ever, and the ice was very fine and the cream cheese decadent! The vibe was awesome and everything reasonably priced!
S. H.
Good selection of Bingsoo and fruity crushes
L. V.
I love the lemonade and the black squid with cream cheese bread they have there. Aesthetic is cool, cakes look incredible, looking forward to when I can come by again.
That lemonade has my heart.
J. B.
Always my go to coffee shop. Very nice selection of pastries and drinks. Take away coffee will be abit slow since there is only one barista but very nice latte art. Should give it a try if you are around.
H. W.
Love the rainbow cake! Best rainbow cake in Sydney!
J. L.
Sat down for some bing soo. The tiramisu bing soo was delicious. Also got some buns for takeaway. A bit expensive but also delicious. Really enjoyed the melon bun and cream bun. Would definitely go back to try and a few more items on the menu.
On a separate occasion I did also have their rainbow cake and cheesecake. Rainbow cake was really nice and not too sweet. The cheesecake was just your normal cheesecake.
P. L.
Wanted a bingsoo fix and decided to come here and was quite content with the experience. The place is nice and cosy but there are parts of the room where it is a tight squeeze for customers and so don't be surprised if people bump into you as you walk past. Bingsoo was of good quality however there were some staff members who don't seem to be enjoying their time. One case there was a waiter who yelled for people to make way for him in frustration. I understand his purpose but in terms of customer service, there are better approaches.
M. Q.
I stopped by for a moment on Saturday afternoon and the place was really busy and crowded. Seating was still available. Looks like you choose your cake or bread and take a seat after paying. It's similar to Breadtop with the trays but the food isn't covered which raises the question of public hygiene. There are assortments of cakes behind the counter.
They don't have a clearly advertised operating hours. It could be improved to advertise them.
I might stop by at another time and sit down to try out the food and coffee.
C.
Nice taro latte and taro cake:)
H. Y.
PROS - great place to chill/catch up, warm atmosphere, closes very late. Lovely chai and shaved ice.
CONS - most baked goods were dry and do not taste as nice as they look (bland, no flavour, just cream).
Drinks - Freshly squeezed juice for $7+ (?!?!?) - very expensive, esp for Strathfield. Iced drinks are alright - also not much flavour going on. Matcha iced drink had weak matcha flavour and tasted mostly of sugar/milk/ice.
Tip - don't buy bread at end of day cos high chance it'll be dry / stale (but this is inevitable). Perhaps try bread at the beginning of the day?
R. K.
The pastries and cake is really nice. The vibe of the cafe is quite good . Seems over-priced other than that one of the best cafe/bakery in strathfield.
G. F.
LAB Bakery is ❤️ Lots of good cake and Asian-inspired pastries. You’ll never be disappointed. Guess what the Koreans are good at other than bingsoo? Coffee!
A. J.
Cakes are great, staff are fantastic
S.
Lychee crush ordered. Natural flavour, unlike those sweet serum crush. Not bad. Market pricing.
K. s. C.
Good coffee and tea. Very professional service. Nice comfortable interior.
N. C.
BEST BEST BEST! Best food! BEST aesthetics! BEST experience!
N. Z.
Staff are friendly, mad variety of both sweet and savoury treats, the vibe is super chill and music at just the right volume. Definitely coming back to get some work done here!
J. S.
Great variety of Asian/Korean fusional innovative bakery. Not bad coffees tho... A bit overpriced.
L. L. P.
I dont stay nearby but this is where I can find the best fresh cream cakes for all occasions. They are launching new cakes and breads quite often too, wont get bored with the tastes
J. H.
Great place to enjoy your coffee. Def recommend this bakery!
A. c. R.
Love Their fresh cream fruit cakes and the Nutella cake😋😋 sooo fresh and light❤️❤️ can’t recommend enough, one of the best in Sydney 😍
l. p.
Good cakes, cookies and pastries but very poor customer service. Especially the people at the counter. They are rude and rush you all the time even where there is not queue.
P. Q.
A friendly Korean cafe with nice strawberry mochi and watermelon juice
M. L.
awesome place for late night desserts!
B. L.
Music is absolutely atrocious. Please stop playing the same two jazz songs on loop continuously. It is a disrespect to the genre and I would rather go through childbirth than this.
pls at least play the lofi playlist on youtube x no cap x
But really enjoy the sparkling apple ade. A must try.
But also, please fix the lights...It is a bit dim.
s.
The cakes are decent and the service has been more or less satisfactory too everytime i visit and get my cakes to go...
I do have a slight gripe because for the first time the other day they bagged my cakes (a take-away order like i usually do) in a bag that wasn't their custom bag but one that had written "Mad Fo' Chicks" on there. They usually give you their custom packaging bag that has "L.A.B." written on it. It's quite clear that this cafe is not a store that sells fried chicken.
Now i can only assume that they were handing out "Mad Fo' Chicks" bags in lieu of their own packaging because someone they know or one of their affiliate businesses must have over-ordered bags and they had to get rid of them some way. The "Mad Fo' Chicks" business might have gone out of business too so they didn't have a need for the bags anymore - who knows.
I was walking down the street, thinking my packaging said "L.A.B" and when my friends saw me with a "Mad Fo' Chicks" bag, they nearly disowned me on the spot. I'm a vegetarian, you see, and they accused me of being a poser and pretending to be a vegetarian the whole time. You can only imagine my surprise when i was made to realise i was a walking advertisement for the decidedly non-vegetarian practise of being "Mad Fo' Chicks", or otherwise, chowing down on chickens.
Get your act together L.A.B. Understand that part of your brand is your fancy packaging with the L.A.B. signage on there. I bought items from a cake store and not a chicken store and i don't need randoms and people i know thinking i am enamoured with chicken. Please do not treat your customers like they are fools by giving them incorrect packaging and thinking they don't notice.
Otherwise, i cannot fault you.
M. H.
Nice selection of breads and open til late, recommended!
R. s.
Love it!
E. H.
It was great! Relaxing and cool atmosphere with quick service. The Oreo cake and Oreo milkshake were a winner for my ten year old daughter.
A. P.
Very upbeat, classy and indeed a cut above when measuring against coffee shops for miles. Impressive and will be making this place my 'go to' whilst living nearby
J. T.
Love this place but they should really use the clear out the stacks of tables to fit more customers. Always want to go here but they are full and have to go to another cafe 😢.
l.
Great coffee, cake and bakery selection as usual. If you expect social distancing done properly, then you may want to do takeaway though...just saying...
S. B.
Good choice of bakery items.
T. N.
Love the cake and the atmosphere here. A go to place to hang out with friends.
d. g.
The single origin I had was fantastico. And the barista explained me about the taste profile yumms
J. L.
as regular customer, quality of coffee and bakery have gone down now..It was really fresh and nice tasty for the fist few years but now there is no reason to visit here from a distance
C. A.
Always busy as it should be. The cakes are really delicious and the prices are also cool. Must try with friends.
S. O.
Nice cake
J. S.
Staffs are always kind and smiling! Love this place and great coffee as well
M. M.
Not cheap but good value. I can see why the opposition are struggling. Understand it is clearly and "exclusively" a Korean café but don't be bashful if you have a sweet tooth.
C. V. Z.
My Airbnb guest bought me some pasties from the LAB and wow they were great even the one with the beans. Not somethings would have walked in and bought so yes great thumbs up from me 👌
J. C.
