Comments of Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake Sydney
A. M.
A simple takeaway-only store, but extremely popular with a fast moving queue outside almost all the time. The choices are pretty simple - cheesecake and tarts in only a few flavours, and as the day goes by they often sell out of items.
The cheesecake is light, airy and fluffy; the tarts smooth and rich. Putting the tarts into the freezer kind of did what they said - make them like ice cream, though I'm not so convinced with the refrigerated cheesecake really bringing out a stronger cheese flavour.
F. K.
My favourite type of cheesecake! Airy and not too sweet but rich but light enough that a slice is enough! The chocolate is also great too, its a distinctive cocoa powder, milo sort of flavour.

Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake shop located on George Street is a must visit when craving sweet yet savoury Japanese baked goods, firstly the store is conveniently located near Regent Place where they open their doors to attract customers with all their freshly baked goods, the cheesecake has the right cheese level and right sweetness, the staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Overall a must visit
k. k.
Great place to try the original Japanese cheesecake and many other desserts. The staff are so nice and helpful.
It is located in the heart of Sydney so it is easy to give it a go.
R. L.
Love the cheese tarts from Uncle Tetsu’s. Flavour and texture is always consistent. The tarts are all very rich, creamy and just slightly runny (which is the perfect consistency for these cheese tarts). IMO the traditional tart is moreish, whereas the ube and matcha are really nice and have great flavour, however, might get sickening if you eat too many of them in one sitting. I’ve also had the Japanese cheesecake and I find it to be absolutely delicious, light and no too sweet.
E. L.
Take away Cheesecake and cheese tarts. Very soft and tasty. Bold flavour. Green tea cheese tart is my favourite!
S. C.
Seriously, how can anyone make a cheesecake so fluffy and yet so smooth at the same time (we bought all the 4 variety of the chesse cake). Just the right amount of sweet with variety of different type without losing the cheese taste. I am regret that we did not buy the other type like the pudding which is gelatine free and the muffin. Price is abit on the expensive side, but the whole family haven’t visit Sydney City for a while now and the taste is Super, So I can forgive price for that.
P. S.
Massive queue every day attracted me to try a cheesecake. My expectation was it’d have intense butter taste but it was actually half plain so it is something in between fruitcake(but without fruits) and cheesecake
B. M.
It’s a nice place for dessert takeaway.
I like and visit these guys for their fresh tarts after lunch on some afternoons.
Service is quite professional and quick even if there is a queue.
D. R.
Love coming here to get the big fluffy cheesecake!
Staff are also so wonderful and helpful.
I think for the price the cheesecake is worth it!
Just a note if you are wanting to go there is normally a line to get in but moves pretty fast.
e.
my absolute favourite cheese tarts! the matcha is the best, followed closely by taro 💜💚
check out my insta @erinxeats for more!

You’ve gotta love cheesecake unless you’re lactose intolerant but still do it. So if you love that you have to come here for those fluffy Japanese cheesecakes. It’s what dreams are made of I guess. I’ve had the classic cheesecake and the cheese Tarts and they never disappoint. Absolutely amazing place.
S. N.
Open on Xmas Day!!!!
Fluffy texture of original cheese cake is really nice but for taste, I find it not enough cheese or sugar. Cheese tarts are quite nice, filling and crust base.
J. Z.
There is a special deal of dessert buffet between 3pm-5pm. We tried different flavours’ cheesecake and cheese-tart. They all are excellent, service is perfect. Highly recommend to everyone.
R. N.
Always bought cheesecakes from the street level store, it is our first time to try the buffet at downstairs’ Angel Garden. The buffet is really worth it. We visited at a busy hour (4-5 on Saturday afternoon), the cafe is PACKED, yet we were still served really well. We’ve tried almost all of the products! Cheese cakes, tarts, madeleines, crepes, puddings... they are sooooooo good!
Y. A.
It's an overpriced cheesecake shop. I really don't understand why so many people love coming here. I bought a cheese tart which tasted like any old cheese tart. I didn't buy the cheesecake because I couldn't justify spending $20 on a cake
L. F. A.
Uncle Tetsu's has unleashed a whole load of cakes, tarts, pastries and ice cream available to the public and is cheaper if you have company!
Everything on display is up for grabs so there's much deliciousness going around ✊
Also free unlimited drinks (soft drinks and tea) or $1 for coffee which is very rare to find at a buffet. With 60 minutes in total for ordering, how far can you go?
Unfortunately it's only Mon-Thu but I did leave a message encouraging Fri-Sun but maybe charge more perhaps?
Pro tip: The soft serve ice cream machine is on its own so DON'T FORGET TO HAVE ICE CREAM LIKE I DID 😓. There was matcha and cheese flavour.
V. A. M.
The cheesecake and cheese tart are the best we ever had. Additional for the buffet are tea and soft drinks. And there's cheese and green tea soft serves. Dessert buffet is definitely worth it in terms of price and quality of the food.
J. C.
Great takeaway dessert place. The original cheese tart stands out among the rest, but the matcha and taro are pretty good.
F. K.
The creme brulee crepe is definitely worth a try! Though it can feel like a bit too much custard after a while, and I wished there were a few more strawberries. The chocokoala was a bit of a miss. Couldn’t quite put my finger on the strange ice cream flavour (cheese perhaps?) but it wasn’t vanilla. The actual dessert wasn’t quite what we expected based on pictures. But will definitely come back to try other things on their menu.
A. A.
This place is sorta an uncle tetsu cafe located at the same place but different level. The cafe can be seen from the daiso and there’s a way to get here from there. Cheese cake here is one of the best I’ve ever tried but the taste of the matcha cheesecake was a bit plain. Love the ice taro and ice matcha latte. Really recommended👌
J. Y.
melt in my mouth in one second...
Amazing cake ever !
We had warm one but I think If it have after store in freezer , would be more perfect
A. C.
Amazing Japanese dessert shop. Sweets are cooked right before you. Great transparency throughout the shop. Good way to showcase what they do. Staff are friendly and always smiling. The cheese cake and tarts are mouth watering. They are by far the best you will ever try. Definitely worthwhile visiting and try for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
T. b. 트.
Best cheese cake !!
Choco cheese also super great cake !!!
D. L.
I went there today with a friend. It's a bit pity that there's no place to sit down and enjoy this bubbly pudding alike cheesecake. It smells good and tastes good as well.
$17.99 for a whole piece is a bit expensive to me, but it's worth it to try it once a while.
Tip: You can find somewhere to sit by going downstairs
V. Z. (.
The meal is delicious and the place is cute! One of my favourite place with awesome cheesecakes! :)
M.
I always make an effort to get their cheese tart and cheesecake when I pass the city, the most delicious desserts ever. Also experienced the best service today from Koko, she went above and beyond to help me with my order. I truly appreciate it.
M. A.
Nice baked cheesecake, delicious to eat, just like the cheesecakes form Japan.
A. N.
A little pricy and usually a long wait. It’s a definite must try since it’s a franchise from Japan of the famous fluffy cheesecakes! It’s just so smooth, buttery and convenient for a quick gift. I personally love the original and matcha variant.

J. C.
Not bad, but prefer traditional NY cheesecake
w. d.
Tried the buffet. Soooo good. Many flavors, different types of cakes. And recommend the hard rock puff. 👏
J. C.
Delicious and fresh deserts! Had the Taro cheese tart and the Matcha Angel Hat which both tasted amazing. The Taro cheese tart was very light, not too sweet and had plenty of filling inside. It’s a shame it was only available for a limited time only though as I would buy more of it.
Their sweets can be pretty pricey for the portions you get, but it’s worth it.
K.
There's something about this place that gives it an authentic Japanese feel! The baked cheesecake and cheese tarts are one of the best, if not the best, I've had in Australia.
N. J.
It was so delicious! It was my first time to try it, and I never expected that it was so good. Must try!
b. b.
I've been here quite a few times. Their salted caramel crepe was very nice. The chocolate cake was a bit too sweet (but I don't like chocolate that much) however what disappointed me the most was their drinks. Their chai is average and their chocolate drinks don't give much in terms of flavour. I definitely want to come here on a Saturday night to see the maids performances though :)
H. S.
Original Japanese cheesecake. So fluffy... so soft. Perfect sweetness but a lil bit high price.
A. S.
Must visit if you love tarts and cheesecakes. Very unusual than what you would get everywhere else. We just went for a tart after reading the amazing reviews and it was so delicious that we ended up buying a whole cheesecake. One suggestion would be to freeze the cheesecake for sometime before you eat it. It tastes awfully eggy at room temperature. The desserts here not too sweet which we loved the most. Will go again to try the maccha tart, coz we loved the tart more than the cheesecake. And yes the service is trademark Japanese, so very hospitable.
S. T.
Always super friendly service. The cheese tarts and crepes are amazing! The famous cheesecake is nice, but not nice enough for me to buy it again.
C. L.
Warm cheese cake that melts in your mouth. So worth the travel up there.
Y. Z.
Ordered the top seller cheesecake, around 18 dollars.
very soft and wet texture^-^,as a traditional Japanese style cake,it is valued the price.
sharing with 3 other friends, medium size.
From my perspective,I prefer the traditional style NewYork cheesecake.
F. (.
I've been here several times and I'm always tempted to buy something from them every time I pass by. I've tried their warm cheesecake. Love it. It's soft, indulgent and not too sweet at all. Today I've had their cheese tart (my favourite!). It's distinctly delicious compared to other cheese tart I've tried before. I never try their madeleine 'cause I'm not a fan of madeleine in general.
Price is a bit dear in my opinion.
S.
Amazing business, delicious desserts and especially during Covid the delivery is much appreciated
Also, whoever is managing their Instagram is very kind and attentive
And of course a big thumbs up to the delivery guys, they’re so nice when they’re calling to inform that the order has been delivered
I feel very lucky that we got Uncle Tetsu in Sydney!
ありがとうございます
S. R.
Uncle Tetsu has the best ever cheesecake. Their small sized crepes are heavenly.
S. C.
Love it 😍
Great base plus the Yummy taro fillings 🥧
Will come back often for sure👍
T. P.
Delicious cheese cake . Just bought a cheese cake and six tarts set in the afternoon. After six hours, without disturbed before eating.
The mocha tarts are very runny like gel, the texture not very nice. Taro tarts are a bit better with half set. While the original is the same and a bit sweeter. Should try them all. But not sure it is normal standard?
J. L. J.
My absolute favourite cheese tarts! No doubt every time I am in the city I drop in to grab some and let me tell you they never make the whole trip home *nom nom*.
R. S.
One of the best cheesecake or tart experience I have ever had. I basically had an orgasm eating this and it better then sex. That how much I love it. I wish I can take this home at the end of the trip.
D. S.
11/10 - MUUUST have !! Trekked all the way to grab this, and it did NOT disappoint. The food here, esp the cheesecakes, is so good, so amazing, SO ✨ immaculate ✨. Texture's *chef's kiss*, and it's worth indulging and queueing up for. On top of that, the staff is super sweet and polite too, you'd love them, trust 😭 Rip lactose intolerant people, y'alls are missing out 😔🤚🏼
L. H.
So delicious. There always seem to be a queue outside, a sure indication of their popularity.
I'm not usually one for cheese tarts but uncle tetsu's cheese tarts are just light enough in flavour that they're yummy.
There's a variety of flavours and different baked goodies available.
One of their new products - Japanese pudding was absolutely point on. Perfect balance of flavours. And super cute to boot.

In 1948… Uncle Tetsu was born. As their first-born child, Uncle Tetsu was obliged to help his parents in their sweets business from the very young age of just 5 years old! He grew up baking and preparing scrumptious desserts at their Hakata Sweet Shop. Later on in life, while he studied English Literature at the Seinan Gakuin University, he created and published a community town magazine called Tessy. But it wasn’t long before he went back to the food service business to operate a popular restaurant by the name of HANAJAM,
Now named Uncle Tetsu’s a Japanese cheesecake shop located at George Street
City and most other locations in Sydney .
J.
Friendly service and nice boxes (I only ordered a tart and a Madeline). Taro tart was good, matcha Madeline was disappointing
B. Y.
Great cheesecakes. The hype has slightly died down but there are new flavours to try!
s. s.
The venue downstairs is colorfully done and attractive but for teenage crowd . I took my fam downstairs as they weren't up to getting the whole cheese (available in the shop on the street side). It was an overall ok experience, the staff is friendly but somehow I still more fond of the whole cheese cake and tarts from their road-facing cake shop.
K. C.
Good Japanese cheesecake. Very pricy and long wait times.
Green tea version is quite interesting.
u. n.
Light and fluffy (I thought it would be a bit bigger). Subtle flavour. Friendly staff.
C.
Missus and I were already there ever since their grand opening with taking picture with uncle tetsu himself. Remember back than he was outside the shop walking around where no one knows who he is, the famous uncle tetsu. Luckily missus spotted him as she saw him in Japan before.
Their fluffy cheese cake never disappoint usat all. Still loving it after all this year and still getting it every now and than. Getting one today on the first day of Chinese New Year with having the cute stamp of the Chinese God of Prosperity on it. Very good marketing tactic to attracts more Asian customers during the festive season.
Do really love their Earl Grey edition on cheese cake but too bad it’s only seasonal.
A. M.
Have visited this place twice now and I loove love their desserts- fresh, not too sweet and not heavy. Staff is always nice, helpful and polite 😊
J. L.
Japanese maid cafe concept - Japanese maids who double up as a female singing group, are waitresses who serve food & take orders. I do like their fluffy cheesecakes, which can be ordered as a take away. The green tea tart was average.
S. F.
Cheesecake at Uncle Tetsu lives up to all the hype. The cake served warm is light as a cloud. It can also be served cold for a richer silky version more like a western cheesecake. If you aren't up for an entire cake or you want to sit and enjoy, they have a sit in cafe downstairs.
N. V.
cheese tarts are great, I only come here for that.
H. W.
I've had their cheese cakes and cheese tarts and loved them! It's freshly baked and smooth and soft on the inside.
M. C.
Love their original cheese tarts, probably the best in sydney out of the ones i have tried and i have had fair few. They do taro flavoured cheese tarts too but only on occassion, very good also. Can't say the same for their cheese cakes range though, they taste more like sponge cake for me, lacking the rich cheese taste and texture. The tarts are definitely their best.
L. L. Y.
Cheese cake is average. Its super fluffy though but I like Pablo better. Im not sure if they can claim that they are no. 1 in Japan. Usually have long que here
B. L.
They got famous for their light fluffy Japanese style cheesecake that is perfect for people who is not purely eating cake for a shot of sugar. The menu has evolved over time, adding other great tasting and fairly priced products such as the very buttery madelines, cheese tarts and most recently the onigiri crepes (similar to the mango pancakes you get at yumcha).
The cheese tart remains the standout for me. I would urge people to not give negative ratings if you thought you were getting a traditional cheesecake because this is fusion food.
A. C.
Perfectly creamy and velvety cheesecake texture. Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻
T. V. G.
extremely soft, airy cheesecake. we love that it is not sweet at all. the cheese tart is amazingly creamy but light at the same time. the pastry is crunchy-- all in all, we are very pleased with our buy, eventhough it can be abit pricey.
T. R.
CAN HONESTLY SAY THE CHEESE TARTS ARE WORTH THE WAIT AND PRICE!! Best I have ever had. It is completely different to what you expect and nothing like a Portuguese tart.
J. P.
Come and buy 2cake for myself! Must buy when im goin to city! Mussttt buyyy gaissss.
B. P.
We got three of the cheese tarts - matcha, chocolate and original -and all of them were summed up with one word - yum! They're very creamy and gooey, a nice texture with a crispy case. Will definitely be returning for more next time I'm in Sydney.
R. N.
Amazing Japanese cheesecake. When this place opened two years ago I was astonished by the queues to get in, but having tried I understand the cult following. I love everything I try but the Taro Cheesecake is amazing if it is available as it is a limited edition flavor.
j. k.
Most amazing cheesecake tarts ever. I bought 2 and ate both that night. I went back the next day to buy a bulk pack to take home to Qld with me but just missed out by a milli second. Some other holiday makers bought all that was left.
V. D.
The Cheese cakes here are delicious and uniquely Japanese i strongly recommend this place
S. M.
The consistency of the cake was light, as promised, but I found it very eggy. Not sure it's always like this or whether we got an inconsistent batch?
B. M. (. M.
This cheesecake was the bomb will come back again when I'm in the area for some more
K. V.
Cheesetarts are tasty. Not too overbearing with sweetness. More on the eggy side. Price is reasonable, so you get what you pay for.
S. T.
Customer service is fantastic! I find it pretty steep at $3.90 per tart, the tart was above average. Wouldn't call it Superb. Tastes like a cheesy version of Portuguese tart with a crème brûlée Top!
S.
Uncle Tetsu's has by far the best cheese tarts and fluffy cakes that I have ever had.
The cheese tarts come in matcha, taro, chocolate, and regular.
My favourite is the matcha but if you're curious you can get a 6 pack with 2 of each flavour to find which one you like the most.
A. S.
The cheese tarts are great, definitely worth a try
M. C.
The cake is nice, but probably doesn't justify the waiting time required in the queue.
M.
Small nice deserts/maid cafe with Japanese style deserts food came quickly.
R. N.
Ok, so either I was expecting too much or there was something not right about my cake that day. It's just a normal kind of cake. I'm not saying that it's not good, but I heard it was really amazing and decided to spend 1 hour going the long distance to get one. And it did not impress me. Well worth a try if you're in the CBD, a bit overpriced actually. But again, can be because of my preference.
M. !.
really nice japanese baked cheesecake!! Its really jiggly and tasty:3
F. M.
Decent place for takeaway cheesecake. Would've loved a bit more flavour as it tasted slightly plain, but overall, it was lovely
Y. C.
The Crêpe taste so nice and cheese cake inside and with soft cream. It taste so different than other Crêpe.
S. A.
Best cheesecake place ever. So fluffy and delicious. I love the original cheese tarts as well. I wish their crepes were back.
K. B. R.
Awesome cheese cake! A must try!
J. W.
Uncle tetsu is one of the best Asian cake stores you can find. The cheesecakes come in 4 flavours - original, matcha, choco and honey. My pick - honey and matcha. The price is a bit expensive at 14.99 & 17.99 for a dessert so small can be easily finished by one person. There are also combo deals which probably work out to be a lot cheaper. The madeleines are quite yummy especially while their still warm or left till the following morning unrefrigerated for breakfast. A box of 4 consists of honey, matcha, orange and choco flavours @ 11.99. My pick - orange and matcha. Take the elevator down at regents place and try dining in at the uncle tetsu angel garden cafe. My pick - high tea set for 2 @ $15 pp and you get to try all the cheesecake flavours, angel hat original & matcha and any drink on the menu of your choice.
S. Y.
What does a 2 hour cheesecake taste like? Pretty humble to be honest. Right now there's a lot more you could say about getting one than you could say about the cake is itself. Freshly made, Uncle Tetsu's cheesecakes are light, soft, moderately sweet and a little on the eggy side. Worth 4 stars if the queue is short / non-existent; 3.5 if the queue is long. Get there on a week night if you don't like waiting.
M.
Tad pricey however definitely worth the hype! I’ve had
Cheese tarts from here; original cheese tart and chocolate and matcha limited edition. So yummy!
J. M.
It just tastes amazing. While the price for one tart may seem high I could not find any way to fault it. It tasted better than we hoped and our only negative was that we found this place on our last day here instead of our first.
J. B.
Amazingly fluffy Japanese cheesecake, but a bit on the pricey side.
V. C.
Personally their signature cheesecakes werent "cheesey" enough for me, though the texture is very fluffy and does melt in your mouth. Im more of a fan of their cheese tarts, but a bit pricey for $3.50 per tart.
r. a.
Best cheese tart in Sydney
i. g.
My favorite light cheesecake~~ So tasty~~ Alot of people during the day, but if you go after 9pm ish there isn't any line...
I. F.
We ordered a matcha cheesecake for $15 at the lower level of the shop. There are table, seat, plates provided. This one is cold and not freshly made as the one at upper level of the shop. The taste is nice but it is a bit dry. We need to drink something otherwise we can't finish it.
K. C.
My wife loves the cheese cake I think it is ok... Reasonably priced. The Madeline's address very good though. Go at 9pm on a weeknight to avoid a queue. Remember to microwave the cheesecake if you eat it later!
C. T.
Fluffy and nice earl grey cake. It's like we're in Japan with the maid outfits
C. D.
Delicious Japanese style cheesecake, for a reasonable price. Service was fast and friendly.
S.
Its good, but could be better. When compared to actual Japanese cheesecakes this does not compete. Isn't very jiggly and very overpriced for the portion you receive, would be nice if they were fresher, but still they do taste nice.
L. A. L.
The cheesecake are super soft but not sweet at all. It's always a long que here.
정.
I always saw the super long line in front of store. But I just passed away . During the going out with my bae , he wanted to try this tarts . I don’t like sweet flavour but it was ok . We ordered Original cheese tarts and Matcha green tea . Original one which was cooked a few minutes ago was very warm but a little bit greasy . However, Matcha one was cold .. not warm . They were normal ..Next time I wanna try cheese cake in store.
A. C.
Perfectly creamy and velvety cheesecake texture. Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻
M.
Tad pricey however definitely worth the hype! I’ve had
Cheese tarts from here; original cheese tart and chocolate and matcha limited edition. So yummy!
A. S.
The cheese tarts are great, definitely worth a try
C. L.
Quick stop for a limited edition honey cheesecake! Light and fluffy with bits of honey inside 😋
V. D.
The Cheese cakes here are delicious and uniquely Japanese i strongly recommend this place
P. S.
Brings back memories of Maid cafe in Japan but less quirky.
L. L. Y.
Cheese cake is average. Its super fluffy though but I like Pablo better. Im not sure if they can claim that they are no. 1 in Japan. Usually have long que here
R. N.
Ok, so either I was expecting too much or there was something not right about my cake that day. It's just a normal kind of cake. I'm not saying that it's not good, but I heard it was really amazing and decided to spend 1 hour going the long …
S. Y.
Their cheesecake is honestly overrated but the cheese tarts are really good.
M. P.
Seriously this have the best cheese tart around. just the right amount of cheesy flavour that is not overly sweet or overpowering.
K. h.
Fun and chi dessert
N. S.
Nothing special, just over priced cheesecakes
A. (.
Very filling, and very nice for my sweet tooth. The cheese tarts are the best, along with the Milles Crepe. Would recommended going here for an hour of sweet goodness!
M. T.
I thought it would be all just hype, but the cheesecake is really good!
M. M.
The cheesecake is very good, but overpriced for the cost and the wait. It's not like ordinary cheesecake - it's warm, fluffy and has a more subtle taste than traditional cheesecakes. It's good chilled too! I recommend it just to try it once, but otherwise, it's a little too steeply priced.
M.
Excellent customer service!! Even though it was quite busy at this store, the staffs were always friendly and smiley to their customers, no stress or annoyance on their face what’s so ever!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love love love their Cheese cakes!! 😍😍Regardless if it’s Matcha, original, chocolate!! It’s yummy!!! I love the crepes and other goodies in this shop too.. After quarantine, I will certainly come back for more 🙏
R. S.
The best, lightest, fluffiest cheesecake! Fell in love with it in japan, so excited to see it here!
Ü. B.
The original cheese tart is absolutely delicious. The cheesecakes melts in your mouth when it's hot. Try any flavour, you will not regret.
b. g.
It’s just amazing Japanese cheesecake I ever had. Our all time favourite is classic cheesecake. We tried the chocolate cheesecake it's quite good for dark chocolate lovers. Me being a dark chocolate fan I enjoyed classic cheesecake over chocolate cheesecake.
Texture of the cake is amazingly smooth, sweetness and flavours are very nicely balanced.

Hands down the most incredible cheese tart I have ever eaten. Crisply baked on the outside, with a delicious runny centre. Service was very friendly, fast and authentic. There is nowhere inside to sit, but honestly it is still so worth it
A. R.
I heard about this place before from social media and I've been there twice now. Both times the cheese tart was gooey and perfect. I also tried the cheesecake and it was delicious and light.
T. A.
Recommended by a local to try them out! Skeptical at first, but well worth the visit! The tarts were unbelievably tasty! Ended up buying a whole box and by the evening, it was completely gone!! Open more branches internationally!
B. H.
Uncle Tetsu buffet is a great way to try all of the diverse dishes. It’s also a great way to try the new exclusive desserts! I went here for a birthday celebration - well and truly recommend!
N. H.
Who knew cheesecake could be so good? And just quietly, the cheese tarts would be well worth the trip on their own...
J. L.
The line was SOOO LONG! Wish it was shorter, but I try not to walk past this place too many times because Im always tempted to buy a whole cake. FAVOURITES are the matcha!
T. G.
Most amazing cheesecake ive had its fresh, light and full of flavor. Staff are always friendly and smiling
A. P.
To be honest I’ve just tried the classic small cheese tart. And if it’s warm (you can ask for it) it’s yummy as hell! I wasn’t fan of it until I got there!
C. G.
Honestly obsessed with The Original Cheesecake, cheese tarts and chocolate cheese tarts! I try to go to the city every week just to get my dose cause they’re just so good 😋 pricey but worth it! Plus, the staff is always happy and helpful!
R. T.
Lovely tarts especially the green tea ones.
C. C.
Great cakes, fluffy and smooth ,so tasty!!! Good variety, worthy to try one of each. They also have crepes ask for them, they are so much better!!
S. B.
It’s pricey but worth every cent! light and not too sweet, these cheesecakes are a favourite at our place.
P. A.
Had the original cheesecake delivered, it was amazing!
Y. T. (.
I ate a cheesecake!
It was very good ✌️✌️
Next time,I’m going to desert buffet 🍰
Thanks

It’s a very great dessert shop for people who wanna taste different types of Japanese desserts. The cakes are very delicious and fresh. Also, the staffs are friendly and helpful.
A. L.
I remember lining up when this place first opened and it's still consistently my favourite cheesecake ever! Love it
S. S.
One of the best cheesecakes that i have had. There is a line most of the times outside the shop.
J.
Expensive but worth the price. I like the cheesecake and cheese tart. Not too sweet
l. d.
Best cheesecake can’t go past this place when I’m in the city without stopping in.
Always get extra for the next day ☺️
J. L.
Highly recommend the buffet if you have a sweet tooth. Customer service is very good. Bit on the pricey side, hence should get the buffet if you plan on eating a lot
M. P.
Seriously this have the best cheese tart around. just the right amount of cheesy flavour that is not overly sweet or overpowering.
l. l.
Best cheesecake all over Sydney. Even better if I can get it delivered to me cuz it’s too far away from my place. Strongly recommend open a food delivery service!
J.
This place is the bomb and it's pretty clear from the constant line out the door whenever you visit. I am not a huge fan of the cheesecakes, but the cheese tarts are to die for, literally, I could eat 6 myself, they are so delicious!
B. R.
If you like cheese cake then uncle tetsus is the place to come as these beauties are amazing
b. a.
Awesome customer service and tastes great
J. L.
Not as good as the ones from Japan, but still delicious!
B. L.
Original cheesecake is the best, fluffy and smells like heaven
N. M.
I tried the dessert buffet and was really satisfied. They have a lot of range of cakes and they prepared some of them only for buffet!!
You can't miss it!
R. H.
I finally managed to try one of the famous cheesecakes and it was delicious. Ingredients taste fresh and I can definitely understand the hype.. these are great!!
M. N.
The most fluffiest and delicious cheesecakes! The cheese tarts are also very very delicious!
F. S.
A toned down maid cafe setting where they serve delicious desserts such as cheesecakes, crepes and parfaits and many more! A chill and relaxing place to have dessert and converse with your friends. You can take pictures with the maids if you order a cheki set. There is a monthly rotational cheesecake and each new monthly cheesecake is awaiting for you to try! I recommend checking out Uncle Tetsu's Angel Garden Sydney and also to check performances done by AGS102 that happen every Sunday at 6pm.
L. Y.
Delicious cakes and wonderful experience trying everything at their dessert buffet.
R. C. S.
Delicious tarts, the cheesecake is also extremely good once refrigerated. If you happen to be there while they have taro tarts, make sure you try it!! Best flavour ever!
I just wish they had some more franchises open and were a tiny bit cheaper
A. P.
Great variety of desserts and pastries. Great value. Overall a really tasty and smooth experience. Highly recommend the Hard Rock puffs.
J. T. J.
The cakes are yummy and filled with memories hahahha it's awesome to see the making process of the desserts and the smells from the kitchen are DIVINE 🤗 this place makes me remember how I wanted to work at a maid cafe hahahahahhahah thanks
X. L.
My favourite cheese cake place highly recommend 😉
C.
Whenever I come here, they always seem to be unable to sell me a particular cake even if it's visible in the display case. I'm not really sure why. 🤔
I had the original Japanese cheesecake. It's alright, it's not bad but don't let the hype get to you.
A. M.
All you can eat buffet with matcha icecream? my dream come true!
Friendly stuff, clean place and DELICIOUS food!!! Try the strawberry tart!
M. E.
Get the original cheese tart. It’s so good! You can eat this cold or warm.
S. Y.
Their cheesecake is honestly overrated but the cheese tarts are really good.
s. s.
Their classic cheese cake tastes amazing, my current fav is thier original tart yumm!!
A. T.
Oh I really love their cheese cakes and pudding! But it is expensive. If the price was a bit cheaper I would give them 5 star.
A. W.
Look I’ve never had any issues here! Their quick to serve people, aren’t overly friendly but their always sooo busy anyways... the cheesecakes are absolutely amazing! I always freeze mine honestly! Love that they occasionally bring in a new flavour! Prices are pretty descent as well! If you’re travelling great place to try. Do wish they had seating though. Would be great
M. H.
Their cheese cakes are definitely soft and fluffy but I won't wait in line to buy one(if you haven't tried by now you should probably try it, as I don't think a long wait is required anymore)
T. T. (.
Seriously, the best berry cheesecake I've ever tasted in my life! It was so soft and creamy, and just enough sweetness so that you could still taste the berries
M. U. (.
Cheesecake is great, the original is my favorite with matcha coming close in second place. I wish they remembered to greet us with いらっしゃいませ everytime. It would really improve the experience.
A.
Lovely cheesecake when its good. The best I've ever tasted but they deliver variable quality, hence the 4 star review, however I always comeback for more.
S. A.
Best cheesecake I ever had in my life. Enough said. I will always get at least two when I'm in the city.
h. i.
Went here for the dessert buffet, the selection is amazing and it's really easy to get your money's worth. They offer free drinks and soft serve as well!
M. G.
Such amazing desserts and customer service, you might need to roll out with all the delicious treats that are on offer. Highly recommend.
B. H.
Amazingly delicious cheese tarts that are wonderfully creamy. My favorite is the original flavour and matcha. They have a chocolate flavor too. Still have yet to try their cheesecake yet but they look amazing!
E. C.
The cheese cake taste all very nice
A. O.
The cheesecake is heavenly
R. R.
The absolutely best place for those with a sweet tooth. Fantastic cheese cakes. Watching the small machines punch out patties is an added delight.
T.
Great place that is extremely transparent about the way their cakes are made. Cakes are made hot to order and prepared just for you. Workers are extremely accommodating and hard-working.
I'm not the biggest fan of dessert, but their cheesecake is renowned across the world, so definitely a good experience to try once. I hear it's soft and pleasant overall so if you're a fan, give it a try next time.
L.
Bought 1 taro cheese tart, 1 original cheese tart and 1 original cheesecake (warm).
The tart pastry is crumbly and the filling is nice and creamy. I prefer the taro flavour; the original cheese flavour is too cheesy for my liking.
As for the cheesecake, I bought it for my mum's birthday (to share between my parents and I). My parents loved it. They normally don't like cakes/sweets. However, this cheesecake is an exception. It is not too sweet at all. And the cheese flavour is subtle.
The texture is unreal. Soooo soft and airy. It melts in your mouth... I'm pretty sure I ate 3/4 of it because it was irresistible haha
You can also microwave any leftovers the next day and it'll still taste great.
I would totally come back and buy more!
Edit: The wait time was very short. I went on Thursday after work (around 5.30pm) and was in and out within 3 minutes.
M. M.
The original cheesecake... I liked it, but not enough to go back that often. Especially for that price. The green tea tart is pretty good though. But again, wouldn't make a special trip for it.
M. W.
Really yummy... totally recommend the original cheese tart
Q. H.
the cheesecake is absolutely amazing, puffy and mildly sweet. this could also explain the long line crowding around the mini store, but it’s worth it.
L. Y.
I miss so much their amazing cheese tarts, they are an experience itself. Try their matcha tarts!!!
K. R.
Really nice cheesecake, very light and melts in your mouth.
The queue was quite big but handled very well by the staff and we did not wait more than 10 minutes at the end. Will definitely go again for a cheesecake craving!
J. W.
Always a great place to stop by for a delicious snack. Price is what it is, but you would know this going in.
The standard cheese tart is definitely the top choice out of a varied menu.
W.
I haven't had cheesecake s this good since coming back from Japan.
S. A.
One of the best cheesecakes in Sydney!
M. N.
Best cheese tart ever ! Specially the chocolate ones
C. S.
A little over hyped. I visited when I was out in the city the other day and was a little disappointed with the taste and consistency of this well known cheese cake. Firstly, it doesn't have the usual cheese cake consistency that I'm accustomed to. (very fluffy and airy). Secondly, I prefer a rich cheese cake taste, unfortunately the cheese taste was very mild. Not my ideal cake......but my friend liked it.
A. C.
Luckily I did not have a queue, and the little cheesecake tarts were absolutely delicious! I had two and took another home for another day. Such a great flavour, and rather cheap too.
S. P.
Love it here always fresh and friendly staff my favourites the Angel Hat original signature and the original triple baked cheesetarts are all to die for and they open till late so it's good to take home after work
S. M.
Cake was good, but they had run out several times. I suggest not to go late at night. Was a bit pricey but had to check out the hype and taste it once.
N. A.
The cheesecake was bloody good! Will def be having more but at $20 or something like that it won't be a regular occurrence.
Plus it was very eggy. More like an egg tart then a cheesecake.
Still good though
S. X.
Whenever I pass by Towhall area, I always stopped by the buttery smell of this shop. The cheese cake offered is so cheesy, eggy and buttery. Except for the price, I would say 99out of 100. The texture is so tender as well.
The shop also offer other cup cakes .
S. B.
Best desert experience in Sydney with all the class and professionalism you'd expect to find in Japan. A must stop for anyone serious about their desserts.
C. K.
The original cheesecake is my absolute favourite! Definitely worth trying it!!
U. C.
Hands down the best cheesecake ever, every time I'm in Sydney I buy at least 1 or 2
S. M.
I was extremely excited to hear that this place was opening up. Each time I go, the food is always top notch. The cheesecake is delicious and everyone I share it with have constantly asked me to bring more for them. The cheese tarts are amazing and addictive. The rusks are yum but I wish the container held more. The madelines are lovely I could eat them everyday.
A. K. R.
Omg omg omg! Best cheesecake ever! Went there 4 times in 2 days for a total of about 15 cheese tarts shared between 2 people.
H. N. N.
Best cheesecakes and puddings I have ever had!!!
J. L.
Tried the original one. It's like less sugar compared to other cheese cake. But it lacks some tastes. Not sure what is it. Maybe because it's not that sweet. I like it cold but it's not very soft when chilled. But it's nice anyway.
D. H.
Cheese tarts and madeleines to die for! Just amazing. Worth visit if you are in the area. Hopefully they open up other additional stores!
K.
Delicious, mouth watering cheesecakes😛😛😛
M. B.
Great tasting Tarts and cakes.
They taste even better if you put them in the fridge for a little bit before eating.
B. R.
I honestly don't like cheesecake, but this was a nice, fluffy and light alternative. Totally recommend for those who don't really like cheesecake. However it has a quiet a bland cheese flavour, so I don't think it's for people who really love a strong cheesecake.
方.
Love cheese cake, it is a very good gift option for family and friends
A. G.
The best chees cake ever. Fluffy, soft and creamy. I loved it...
M.
The cheese tarts r amazing ! Loved it. The signature cheesecake is soft and fluffy as advertised. Something to try but not worth waiting for more than 10mins or so.
A. S.
Good dessert I could have around the CBD. I also would like to suggest Uncle Tetsu to produce small version os cheesecakes or at least give samples away. I never buy it because it's too big for 1 person.
E.
I love the cheese consistency and how creamylicious their cheesetart is..every bite you make will keep you wanting for more ..
L.
Ordered some crepes and other pastries such as the Japanese Apple Pie, Earl Grey Cupcakes and the Hard Puffs. Wanted to try some cheesecakes and tarts but the machines were unavailable, and apparently will be unavailable till the end of October. Quite disappointing, but unavoidable.
Based on the other pastries I tried though everything was quite good. Some were very, very creamy though. It was quite overwhelming. The cupcakes were quite dry, but the flavour of the earl grey was strong and delicious. The flakiness of the apple pie was very good, the bread surrounding the content inside was delicious! However the sweetness inside was abit overpowering.
Overall, Uncle Tetsu’s is not bad at all. I’ll definitely try to come back and try the cheesecakes and tarts in the future, as that’s what they are commonly known for!
P. J.
Oh my god, uncle tetsu’s cheesecakes are GOLD
The baked fresh oven smells drag you in
YOU CANT SAY NO
A. C.
Good cheese cake good service!
S. P.
The chocolate cheesecake is always my favourite! It’s so soft, so chocolate-yy and feels like melted in your mouth when you eat it!
C. S.
Every single product I've tried has been super delicious and prepared fresh! Staff are always super friendly, particularly Nana who is so kind and welcoming!
L. M.
Delicious tasting cheesecake. It is a mixture of sponge and cheese that melts in your mouth. Tastes better slightly warmed up. I prefer the original over the other variants. But that's just my preference. You may encounter a long wait depending on what time you come. But you get served relatively quickly.
X. S.
Bought a few cheesecakes here. They were insanely yummy!
D. H.
Delicious food at good prices! I especially like the milles crepes and cheese tarts. Will come back for sure 🤗
V. K.
I love the cheesecake. Best to go during the day to avoid the longer lines.
P. A.
Nice place and nice staff. Unfortunately they don't have any dairy free products not even almond or skim milk for the coffees (and they have a coffee machine!!!). It is shame, sure more people will come if they add this. Also at the city underground floor store has a burnt oil smell, doesn't help to enjoy to be here.
T. C.
Light, creamy, full of flavor. This Halloween edition taro flavored cheese tart is not to be missed!
M. S.
By far my favourite dessert because it is so light and fluffy is also near a lot of great restaurants
M. M.
Who could pass up a bouncy cheesecake? So spongey, so delicious and worth the cost. Great to see it being made and the staff are so lovely. Recommend!
K. L.
Great place to have some friends over for all the desserts you could want! Affordable and great customer service!
K.
Very light. Tastes like a light sponge. Quite nice but not really worth waiting in the queue for ages. Happy to have tried it once but I won't be lining up for it again.
M. L.
It's not something to have regularly but it's honestly good and one of a kind in Australia. Other cheese tarts are inferior because they're too sweet, too watery, etc.
It's really conveniently located and I buy one every so often.
D. L.
Bought some cheesecake with pudding freebie! the best. as always!
H. N.
The best cheesecakes ever!!! I am a huge fan of Japanese cheesecakes and these ones are amazing. Very well priced. A definite must for anyone in Sydney.
S.
The cheesecake is amazing it feels like eating clouds ☁ so soft and light, delicious
II'll definitely come back for more😜
W. W.
Very delicious baked goods, as well as some with fresh sauces and cream. Very reminiscent of Japan. Cheesecakes, muffins and filled crepes are delicious.
J. T.
Would recommend. I didn't have to wait to make my purchase. Light fluffy Japanese-cheesecakes are the main attraction but there's other baked goods also.
a. m.
Love the cheese tarts but don't like the taste of the cheese cakes.
Y. H.
Very good cheese cakes and dessert buffet, only one hour limit, but enough for my sweet stomach!
P. S.
Brings back memories of Maid cafe in Japan but less quirky.
D. P.
Awesome Cheesecakes...soft and fluffy. Gotta also try the tarts!
J. L.
Cheese cakes and pastries are delicious here. Price is a bit expensive though
S. S.
Great taste that's why always big que. Price is high but taste worth it.
O. D. (.
The cheese cake we bought is good, but we really do not like too sweet and creamy cakes, just personal preference, so only give 3 stars, should have a try see if you like it or not, but we wont buy it again,
P. L.
Phenomenal cheesecakes. Do yourself a favour and order yourself a box of the cheese tarts! They're amazing.
b. b.
I love their cheesecake it's so yummy
K. O.
Love uncle Tetsu. So yummy!
L. S.
Tasty light cheesecake, worth checking out if it doesn't have a line out front
C. T. H.
Angel Hat is the best. Price is very good for a afternoon buffet. Cakes are all awesome and delicious. Cant recommend more.
K. K.
Uncle tetsu restaurant smells really nice so everytime I walk pass even if I didnt plan to get anything my cravings would tell me to get something. I especially love the cheesecakes and the cheese tart. I remember when they first opened and we had to line up for ages just to score one. The quality is still amazing. Highly recommend to everyone
T. N.
The best dessert cafe of CBD. Especially, Hard rock puff recently released is incomparably tasty👌 It’s highly recommended!
D. G.
Tried the usual cake and easily got sick of it but the menu seems to be growing and Id be passing by soon to try them out for the possible 5 star rating if theres any difference note this was a couple of months ago
E. B.
Literally the best cheesecake I have EVER eaten!!
B. H.
Good cheesecake nice and fluffy, quite light, with a simple set of ingredients. Nothing like a dense New York style baked cheesecake, so if you're expecting that, you'll be disappointed. However the real star of the show is their original egg tarts. Lovely flavour and they're great the next day after being refrigerated overnight. They'll be quite runny initially since they come out of the oven hot.
W. S. (.
Love the Matcha cheese tart and crepes. I often buy desserts there.
J. G.
it is worth to have a try, but better to eat the cake when it is freshly cooked.
the price is a little bit high.
a.
Very nice cheese tarts a little expensive though
E.
Great place! Had a blast with all the desserts I could eat! Would recommend bringing friends for a great time
S. Y.
amazing tarts and cheesecakes but way too pricy!!
m. W.
Amazing...japanese cheese tart...and the cheesecake...
A. Q.
Sells yummy Japanese cheesecakes and tarts. Bit expensive, good for special occasions.
E. W.
Love the cheese tarts.
B. W.
It's like a cheese cloud. Light, fluffy and delicious. You need to swirl it around your mouth like a fine wine. I could eat a whole one myself.
라.
Very light cheesecake.. . .
So so. .
Do not waste your time.
K. K.
The mouthwatering aroma of the freshly cooked cheesecake is nothing compared to the exquisite taste , check out the back part of the shop for other delights or go down the escalator and have a coffee and treat
A. G.
Super delicious fluffy cheesecakes! Max yumm
P. C.
Get ready to line up for these soft fluffy cheesecakes. I lined up from 10.45am on a Thursday and there were at least 20 or so people in front of me. The doors opened at 11.09am and I walked out of the shop with my cheese cake and little cupcakes at 11.35am. I was hoping to get 2 cheesecakes but it was one per person at $17.99 each; which is quite expensive for such a small cake. The texture is almost like a very fluffy omelette and the cheesecake itself tastes like egg rather than anything cheesy. I don't really love it but it was interesting and very light.
R. B.
Famous for its cheesecake but don't miss out on the crepes.
B. K.
Great cheesecake, can't have it too often else it becomes pretty standard. Went to rest at the café in the late afternoon, steady stream of customers and quick service.
R. A.
Best Japanese cheesecake store in Sydney, highly recommended to try taro or matcha cheesecake one of my top favs. always welcoming customer service
W. C.
good vibe, unique decor around the cafe, excellent dessert, lovely free flow soft ice cream w/ flavors
S. C.
this cafe is reasonably priced with really delicious cakes. the tarts are very soft and melty owo
A. M.
Cheeeessseeeeeee. Uncle Tetsu's is ridiculously tasty. There are several locations around Sydney but this one is the best. You can order from outside the street, or inside the market area. They offer a variety of desserts but they are famously known for their cheesecake, which I've yet to try. You cannot purchase a slice of cheesecake, so it's all or nothing. A small cake will run about $15, which is totally worth it, i'm just waiting for the right event to buy it for. I have had their cheese tarts, which are literally to die for, literally. If you get lucky and buy one that's freshly baked its straight perfection. I went with the original cheese tart and the taro tart. The original cheese tart is sweet yet cheesy, it's very distinct, and very delicious. I've never had a dessert like these cheese tarts before. Each tart will run you about $4.5 but totally worth it. You can tell a lot of time and effort go into making these little pieces of heaven. They have package deals you can purchase. If I could, I would start and end every day with one of these cheese tarts. Highly recommended. Get on over to Uncle Tetsu's for some cheesecake and cheese tarts. They also have some other delicious baked goods that I would love to try.
R. N.
The good cake but not the best, staff is ok
A. N.
Had Original cheese cake and chocolate cheese cake. And I prefer original cheese cake over the chocolate one. Worth the price. Fluffy and soft
W. K.
Cheese tarts are creamy and delicious. The cheesecake is fluffy and quite different to the western version. Fun to watch the staff working through the store window while you wait.
R. k.
Uncle tetsu’s cheesecake is to die for. Soft, buttery, airy and not too sweet. It hits all the right spots. I’ve only had the cheesecake here but I’ll definitely be back for more the next time I’m in Sydney. I wish the place had better seating for people wanting to eat in. I’m not fully sure if that’s the case anymore, as I went when the place was newly opened and had to stand in line for nearly 20 minutes to get the coveted cheesecake.
Y. M.
Great cheese cake. Though the queue is sometimes long, the staffs are very efficient
H. L.
Did the buffet today, all the desserts are very tasty especially the strawberry tart❤️
K. C.
The wasn't much of a queue when we passed by at around 3pm on a Saturday. We figured it was time to see what all the fuss is about.
Service is reasonably quick though we just lucked out by just missing out on the last freshly baked cheesecake and had to wait 15 minutes for the next batch. They gave us a token to pick up in 15 minutes. They now take credit cards.
So how was the cheesecake? It was soft and light in texture and mild in flavour. Not something for those who prefer strong flavours. We found the Madeleine's a little dense and dry for our liking but the flavour was good.
K. M.
I often come here every week to buy cake for my Kids. The best cheesecake in Sydney.
P. D.
The cheese tart are sensational! I bought one and I came back for more. Great customer service.
J. L.
Tasted a sample a few weeks prior and we knew we had to come back! I recommend the Caramel Macchiato. It got pretty packed really quickly and wasn't enough seating to dine in unfortunately.
S.
I would not queue for it but the cheese cake is fabulous. Very different from the European or American version but nevertheless great.
D. M.
I'm not sure that I understand the hype behind this Cake - it's nice! The texture is somewhere between a fluffy pancake and the froth off of a cappuccino. The service at the store is nice and this is definitely a welcome alternative at a work function instead of a Woolies or Coles mud cake.
F. F.
There are a variety of dessert choice . Customer service is quite good . It also provide different kinds of beverages. Overall good .
T. C.
Great service and the best cheesetarts, try the choc cheesecake it's amazing
S. G.
Given that I am unfamiliar with the Japanese desserts and simply rating according to my taste: I absolutely love the fluffiness and taste of the cake, while I struggle with the acidity of the tarts, whose pastry instead I enjoy.
I recommend trying all the specialities, which I am doing too... And btw, taste can be educated to novelties from other cultures.
V. Y.
It’s a Japanese bakery shop. The food is good. And the service is ok.
K. S.
Amazing cheese cakes try the original cheese tart
R. I.
I went during a time where there was no line at around 8:30pm, but it was raining, so maybe that's why.
I love the cheesecake, light, creamy and quick to eat.
C. F.
There are variety of choices of desserts. I think that the original cheese cake is still the best.
Y. O.
Best cheesecake in town! Love the mini tartlets, mix and match different flavours like matcha, chocolate and plain. Big cakes are super fluffy and airy, I love the honey cheesecake which has a delicate natural honey scent. My favorite shop if I want to buy cake.
R. N.
It was great having to view the staff at work outside the window, it would always smell great even when you're 2 metres away. Their cheese tarts and honey madelines I've got say are highlights
J. A. U.
For cheese tart lovers, this is the best shop in Sydney to try tasty cheese tarts. Very good located in the heart of George Street, just next to Town Hall Station. It's a must!! Friendly staff, affordable prices
C. W.
Love all the cakes!
C. a. M.
The cheesecake is extremely fluffy and has the famous Uncle Tetsu logo stamped on top of the cake. I admit, the smell of the cake is amazing. It smells so delicious and is served fresh from the oven (probably due to demand). We opened the cheesecake and began to slice it. It was very easy to slice! In much anticipation, we finally tasted the cheesecake and our thoughts were mixed. The cheesecake is definitely not your ordinary baked cheesecake, in fact it is quite the contrary, however Christie found that the was quite bland and would not order it again. Matt on the other hand loved the lightness and taste, he thought the flavour was subtle but enough to not be sickening like many other baked cheesecakes tend to do.
N. W.
Standard cheesecake is nice but overpriced for what it is. Never buy the small cup cake ones, hard and bland, stick with the cheesecake.
J. C.
Queue is long as usual.. but it's worth the hype! Fresh cheesecake can't go wrong on a fam night out!
N. D.
Cheesetarts are probably one of the best deserts I have had in my entire life.
k. L.
Best dessert place in Sydney, quiet and comfortable cafe. cakes are delicious
P. L.
Went downstairs with my family and can only say that everything was alright. The 'maid' that served us was quite nice and was helpful however we felt like the desserts were quite average. The cake we got wasn't really fresh as it lacked the texture we've once had before (perhaps we should've got the cake upstairs). The venue is nice and cute but that's about it.
S. P.
The staff was extremely lovely and all the deserts tasted amazing! Would 100% recommend!
L. T.
Fresh and warm fluffy cheesecakes here are amazing
A. S.
Well its good but not that great to write home about. And a fairly steep price puts the nail in the coffin. I'll definitely have it again but will not line up for it. I tried it as every other person at work did...so now got something to talk about.
m. p.
The regular cheesecake is fantastic. Although the relationship between price-size it's not enough. Could be bigger.
C. M.
While I found the Japanese Cheesecake wasn't something to write home about, the baked Cheese Tart is absolutely out of this world.
H. o. A. h. a. w. d.
Like the cheese cake, taste better after its been in the fridge, bit the muffin and tart is not something that I would buy again...
N. U.
Nice light cheesecake not too sweet
D. A.
Then only place in sydney where i can buy cake and enjoy it to the fullest
More value for money
Love it
R. N.
The original cheesecake was delicious. I will be back to try the others.
A. K.
Buy the no.1 cheesecake and buy the warm one as it's the most fluffiest and tastiest cake to wait for
J. J. G.
The best cheese cake ever
V. B.
The cheesetarts are mouthwatering! I love the original, matcha and taro ones. It is always consistant! I love how you can see them making them in the shop!
G. S.
I have to tell you I was surprised how much I enjoyed this place. It’s a little strange but I loved it. Food and service was World Class!
Do yourself a favour and go!
K. H.
Love the original and matcha cheese tarts!! The crepes are also good.
A. V.
They don’t offer a “slice” of cheesecake, you need to get this box for $19 if you want to try it. I suggest you skip it and go straight for the cheesetarts. They come in “Original”, “Matcha” and “Taro”. They are fresh, filled with flavor and taste better than the cake itself. Don’t get intimidated by the taro cheesetart, this is now the replacement to chocolate.
Be prepared for a line, this is an incredibly popular spot. Also there is no seating, it’s a grab n go
A. N.
Great cheesecakes, would definitely come back again.
H. T.
If you've ever walked past Uncle Tetsu's you'll have seen the massive queue outside most evenings. It's a popular place, and there's plenty to go round. Service is fast though so not hanging around for long. The staff plan ahead so when I ordered an original full sized cheesecake, there was a warm one already in front of me before I could even pay.
The cake itself is soft and fluffy- but ever so delicious. A little on the pricey side for a cake (so loses a star) but there are the smaller cheese tarts available.
A. A.
So puffy and delicious!
S. R.
Delicious cakes, super friendly staff, great value for cheesecake lovers!! ❤️❤️❤️
J. S.
Creamy cheese tart, but avoid busy time as the waiting queue can be very long. If you don't want to wait in queue, head down to underground Japanese dessert cafe (forgot the name) where you can buy exactly same Uncle Tetsu tart without waiting. You can even eat in the cafe.
M.
Best cheese tarts you can get in Sydney
C. N.
The cheese tart was really great. More branches to come please :)
J. C.
Besides the opening long lines, the wait to get your hands on this world famous Japanese cheesecake is worth it. They are soft, moist and fluffy. What more can you want from a cake? 😄
S. S.
The desserts are so good, not too much sweet but enough.

Not sure if anything is worth the wait in this life but you can always go on a Monday/Tuesday night and be served in less than 15min :) (that is what I always do, would never wait 45min for any kind of food).
In my opinion, they are the best cheesecakes in Sydney and for sure the most similar to the great ones in New York - I know they are Japanese Cheesecakes but they are made New York style - (I actually think the only ones made that way here - and I have tried so many!) they are everything you would expect: soft, creamy, light, tasty...so do not worry about the quality, they are excellent!
(I put 4 starts only because of the waiting time in general; they should do something about it to be more efficient)

Tasty cheese cakes but are slightly expensive.

SuperB and yummy! I’m really into here especially Earl grey cheesecake ❤️

Decent food, very convenient location! Would be better if we don’t have to go to the counter and order food every time

Bought cheesetarts with free puddings! Highly recommended! :)

Attended this place twice over the last week to get a cheesecake fix.
I tried the original cheesecake and found it to be super fluffy and delicious. After refrigeration the cheesecake is still delicious! You can order it hot or cold. The price is a bit high for what you get.
I returned a few days later to try the Creme brûlée cheesecake crepe downstairs. The staff here are very disorganised. They have tables downstairs but make sure you order inside after you have sat down or they will not let you sit down if you ordered at the counter where they are actually making crepes. This isn’t very well signed and there were language barriers between staff and customers.
The creme brûlée cheesecake crepe was so delicious though. The crepe is soft and fluffy and not thin and dry like other places.

As cheese cake it tests quite light and still delicious, I prefer cooler than warm, for the size the price is quite dear .

I didn't really know what I was getting myself into when I agreed to get some 'famous Japanese cheesecake' with a friend but I imagined sitting down to a nice slice of cake & then bringing another slice home for the family. The queue was crazy! Also they're cash only & you're only allowed one cake per person, which I guess is ok seeing as you have to buy a WHOLE cake. The cake was quite tasty but on the simple side for me as it had no special flavour. Also I didn't expect to be spending $17.99 then sneaking into McDonald's across the road so I actually could sit down & try some of this cake!

Fantastic Japanese cheesecake. So light and delicate.

Good service by all staff. The matcha custard tarts are brilliant. The store is worth a look even for its novelty factor, or for the maid uniforms.

Friendly staff, the baked cheesecake is alright.

Best cheesetart in Sydney. Tried Pablo's but they were more cheesecakey than melty. Staff are super friendly.

The cheesecake is fluffier than a Pomeranian and lighter than a prepubescent 12 year old boy's moustache.

That is so lovely! Delicious! And I come here many times!

Good food and good service but would prefer the self serve buffet experience rather than ordering. :)

The cheese tart was remarkable although it's slightly pricy.

Excellent Japanese Hokkaido style gooey cheesecake.
Freshly baked crunchy pastry shell.
Almost as good as the ones at new chitose airport.
$3.90 per small cheesecake.

It's nice cake, but for $18? Makes you think twice...

Uncle Tetsu has the best cheese tarts you could eat.

I love this flavour.. pastry is lovely and the cheese custard is next level

Cheesecake was great and quite filling for me and my partner, highly recommend.

The original cheesecakes are amazingly light and fluffy, melts in your mouth, and just the right level of sweetness that keeps you munching on until you discover you have just devoured a whole cake by yourself. The egg tarts are one of a kind, Portuguese egg tarts used to be my favourite until I tasted Uncle Tetsu's. The filling is so rich and precious like liquid gold.

I love the drinks here~ I come here for tea and cakes often.

Amazing tarts! Clean friendly environment

The cheese tarts are melt in the mouth, sweet, tangy bites of perfection. A classic New York baked cheesecake has nothing on these phenomenal tarts.

You were able to try a wide range of desserts at a very affordable price!!

I can eat 3 original baked cheesecakes and not feel sick

I've tried and I should tell it's good and you should eat it when is cold . I think the cold version it's much nicer.
