Finally came here for the first time for a quick coffee break after I walked past it a million times. The cafe is much bigger than it looks with 2 levels, interesting interior. The pour over coffee was good, good technique, very smooth texture. The matcha white chocolate cake was okay, a bit too much for my liking. Will come back again for more coffee.

I can typically be very critical or satire (as some may call it) with my google reviews but this store truely holds a special place in my heart. This store has a warm atmosphere with welcoming staff. My father took me here a few years ago for the first time and I was melted with the smell of freshly roasted coffee beans and sweet hot chocolate. The drinks and foods are incredibly delicious too! It is difficult to capture just how wonderful this place is from a few photos but it is easily one of the best cafes I have ever visited in Brisbane.

The matcha cakes at Bonsai Botanika are the best. They are served beautifully on a plate with cream and fruits. The service is always friendly and efficient. Once you are ready, walk up to the counter and order. You'll receive a buzzer, and this will beep once your order is ready for collection from the counter. It's always nice returning to Bonsai Botanika, and we look forward to returning for more matcha cakes.

One of my favourite hideout cafes in the city! Great coffee, hot chocolate and cakes. However, some drinks are way too sweet eg the strawberry and chocolate drink. The cafe has a very nice ambience and relaxing atmosphere. Jazz music, cool dim lighting. Plenty of seats upstairs. Service is good and friendly, though they seem really understaffed at times. Also, be mindful that you do have to grab your own food and drinks from the counter. Ps the wait is quite long, so if you are in a hurry, maybe best to come during low-peak hour or avoid the weekends.

If you’re in Brisbane city... this cafe definitely a must-visit. It’s got a really cosy vibe, amazing interior and is opened late (6pm). It’s very popular amongst travellers from what I’ve noticed- this is my third time visiting. I ordered a small cappuccino ($4.50), and it was great! For the tiny size I was shocked at the price when ordering, however the taste (and presentation) was worth it. One point that made my visit less enjoyable was the ‘buzzer’ to collect my order. As I came in with a few bags planning to study, I told the server I would dine in upstairs (assuming she would bring my coffee up). She handed me a buzzer and told me to collect my coffee downstairs when it rang. There’s a few problems with this system: being alone I had no one to mind my belongings - meaning I had to carry them all down with me to get my coffee & having myself carry my hot coffee up the steep flight of stairs (with my bags) made me feel quite anxious and unsafe. I would have sat downstairs knowing this, but all seats were taken. To my surprise, after I finished my coffee I saw a staff member bring up another customers coffee, left me wondering why some customers got service and others didn’t. If the coffee wasn’t as good as it was, this would have really bothered me. Despite the buzzer system (that I hope they reconsider), the cafe is beautiful and look forward to my next visit.

A cake with 70% green tea and over-roasted pistachios could hardly consider as a desert. But the bitter taste was matching so well with the sweetened green tea paste. So lip-smacking! Cocoa Truffles indeed is a piece a chocolate mouse cake. Not impressive.

Decadence in every mouthful. Lovely atmosphere, quick and friendly service. Plenty of room to move or social distance as there is seating on two levels. Ok guys, so this is the second time now that I've driven into the city, paid for parking walked through the crowds just to see your doors shut. I understand if you changed your hours and no longer want to open in the mornings, but this time came in the afternoon and still shut. I brought a friend and everything. We went next door to the other matcha place, but it's just not the same. Come on, let Google know your opening and shut days. I gave you five stars before but now I'm salty and reduced it to 3 stars 😓

A beautiful little hideout in the middle of the city. I was looking for a place to be relax and unwind for an hour and I couldn't have found a better spot. I ordered a Sencha green tea and couldn't be resist trying a slice of their cakes. I decided to try their flourless pistachio cake, it was really yummy. They had some other cakes to choose from like a flourless chocolate & hazelnut and a flourless dark chocolate cake. They all looked amazing. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of my this cafe and will definitely come back and try another type of cake ☺️🍰

It takes alot for me to give negative feedback. Il start with the positive, the setting and vibe is great. Great deco and seating upstairs/ downstairs. Unfortunately the quality of the drinks didn't cut it. I'd rank this as the worst iced matcha latte I've had yet. It tasted like wood. My friends enjoyed the affogato & strawberry milkshake however they were just ok. Also the cakes are so so, didn't taste fresh. I probably won't go back unless to try a flat white only. Ps I was excited to try this place as there is so much hype.

Ordered a latte, a iced latte and matcha cake. The coffees are very light and thin palate, I guess the coffee bean they used should be for cold brew instead of espresso. I personally rate is below average. The matcha cake is good, very intense of matcha favour, but not overpowering. I will not recommend people to come if they are after a good espresso/ based coffee

It’s a really beautiful Café in Brisbane CBD. The creative way of serving hot chocolate is nice. But the dessert taste is just okay, and the decoration of one I ordered is different from one on the other table(no fruits decoration on mine) . The customer service is the disappointing part I feel, when I ordered matcha cake actually I didn’t notice that there are 2 kinds of matcha cakes(dark & light one). And the staff didn’t mention as well. Also there’s no price shown in the cake cabinet. If this café could pay more attention on the details would be wonderful.

I had Cold brew (Medium Roast) and Cappuccino w/ match cake. Cold brew was quite nice, well balanced whereas Cap was terrible. Froth is not soft, even worse coffee tastes very weak. Interior is charming and cozy, upstairs is spacious. Good place to visit, but I might not want to be a regular customer.

I used to come here quite often maybe 5 years ago. Then we moved away. Came back years later and find the flavours not the same anymore, which is quite disappointing. Main reason for the 3 stars is because the cakes are not the same anymore. I would still come back for the matcha white chocolate drink. My partner found the hot chocolate not warm at all and the cakes disappointing (we had the 70% matcha cake and 70% chocolate cake)

A really good place to grab a coffee, light breakfast, and/or dessert. The atmosphere is great and is actually quite cozy upstairs. It reminds me of a classic wooden chalet/cottage which is something I grew up with back home. Definitely recommend for people looking for a coffee-catchup with mates or somewhere to study.

It is hard to find a hideaway cafe like this in a place like Brisbane. This cafe’s warm and intimate setting makes it very welcoming for first-timers, and anyone looking for a break from a mundane schedule. I was drawn to this cafe by its matcha selection, which has yet to be ubiquitous in the area. The matcha cake I had was firm and mild, and complemented the whip-cream on the side. The iced matcha latte, on the other hand, was out of this world—rich without being remotely cloying.

They have very unique style. The decoration is amazing. The cold brew cafe resembles a chemical experiement and you'll "create" your own coffee. The cakes they have are really good, staffs are friendly and helpful. This should be a perfect place for a small group catching up or for a lovely date. However, there a lot of room for improvement with the coffee.

I love this cozy cafe!! it's my go to when I'm in the city centre. It has everything from coffee, tea and a great smoothie/juice selection upstairs. The atmosphere is nice and well lit if you're sitting next to the windows. The cakes are delicious and the other sweets are worth a try. Its a great place to do some work before heading home.

Excellent hideaway cafe to get some work done. The drinks are fantastic, didn't get to try the food. There's three storeys though only able to access two at the time. You can order most things downstairs but juice can be ordered on the second floor. No free wifi unfortunately, though lots of tables to get work done.

The ambience and physical characteristics of this cafe are welcomingly earthy. A very grounding environment to enjoy a cup of coffee. The cafe gives off a very Korean-esk vibe, almost as if I'm sipping beans in downtown Seoul. The coffee is good to average and their menu options are adequate. This is a cosy and comfortable cafe in the busy CBD. The coffee is always great. I recommend their brownies and hot chocolates. They always have the perfect snack - cookies, pastries, cakes... everything. The food display always looks clean and delicious. You can dine in or take away. The cafe has a second storey and each seat is cosy and you never feel like your space is being invaded by other customers. Even when they are busy at peak hours they get your order out fast. I’ve been coming here for years now, great place to stop by with friends or family, or takeaway coffee on the way to work. They have plenty of seats upstairs with good atmosphere. Absolutely beautiful and cozy cafe. My friend and I were looking for a cozy cafe to get out of the rain today, this place has such a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff here are so friendly and helpful making the experience of getting hot chocolates and dessert delightful and enjoyable. My friend and I got hot chocolates with tiramisu. The drinks were the perfect balance of sweet and creamy, with a generous amount of extra chocolate. There is clearly a lot of care and thought that goes into each drink. The tiramisu was light but flavourful, it melts in your mouth. I can't wait to come back here, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy and aesethetic experience.

Nice Place! But... _(:3 」∠ )_ I have been there three times and with different friends. I have ordered a Latte, Chocolate Manschy, Soft Cookies, and some Slice Cakes. I think all of the foods are above the standard. The foods and ambiance are really good, but I have some suggest hope you improve. Firstly, the cake doesn't seem to indicate the price. You have to ask the staff what's the price. It's really inconvenient. Secondly, you need to wait for a long time. In last time, we waited for about 20 minutes, we finally got our coffee! I don't understand why we need to wait so long. However, the staff's smile is very friendly and the food is very delicious. So I will come here next time If I have much time can wait.

Absolutely love this place. It has such a unique aesthetic that every time I bring someone new I get to see genuine joy when they walk up the stairs. Not only is it a lovely space but the drinks are wonderful too. I have my coffee on soy which can be really hit and miss in many cafes but not this one. Never had a bad experience and I’ve been here maybe 20 times. I’ve also had the juices which are great. A highlight is the matcha latte. It’s not just green colour, it’s the real deal. I highly recommend sitting upstairs but if you have mobility concerns (the stairs are quite steep) there’s a downstairs section as well. I would also recommend getting in early because after 10 it gets quite busy. It can be a bit hard to meet here as well since the signage is obscure but just tell your friends to look for the place with the bicycle out the front.

Best cafe in Brisbane. It's very unique in its presentation, it has very intimate set up on the second floor that makes it perfect for dates and catch ups. But most importantly, the coffee is always served in insulated clear mugs that always highlight how perfectly prepared they are. Also, they have many different beans, which will peak the interest of any coffee lover.

This place is one of a kind with a coffee bar downstairs and juice bar upstairs. I warn you thought the special origin coffee is super strong. Love the mood lighting, beautiful interior design, staff were friendly, its’s close to the Queen Street Mall, reasonable priced and the music wasn’t too loud. Overall it has a nice cosy vibe to chill out by yourself or with friends. I will definitely visit this little gem again.

I came here many times. One of fave cafe in the Brisbane city. I usually go for ice long black as the coffee beans here taste better with black than with milk, but the Affogato is amazing. Cakes are a bit pricey for the size. A piece of Pistachio cake was almost $10 not sure if it is worth for the price. I also tried Matcha cake which was way nicer than pistachio cake.

Cute, and cozy; little too cozy due COVID but it’s cool. Was a little confused with the Dill on my mango cheesecake as well as the popcorn sprinkled on top of my fresh cold pressed orange juice. All in all weird but wonderfull. Ps. Fishing the popcorn out of my orange juice took me back when the Ekka was still around and you would have to fish for ducks to get points and win prizes. Real nostalgia to pre pandemic times.

Very cozy place with great concept and atmosphere. I love the ice chocolate and hot chocolate. It's hard to find a place that does a good ice chocolate. Almost anything chocolate from this place is delicious. However the coffee and mocha is not that good.

Loved the place, great venue to have a bunch of friends to chat or play board games. Their matcha latte was by far one of the best I have had in Brisbane and they had a selection of extremely sinful high caloric but delicious chocolate based smoothies and ice blended drinks. Their selection of desserts include gluten free stuff and flourless cakes. Did not try them when I went but saw many tables having multiple desserts. It is definitely somewhere you could spend a couple of hours at.

The waitress had only brought half our order and was unaware of our food, when that arrived she advised us our forks would be wet and walked off. A bit different to the standard cafe. Is it French? is it Japanese? who can tell, but it is quirky and has an interesting selection of origin specific coffee, chocolate, chai and Japanese style green tea latte drinks, both hot and cold brewed. A limited but unusual chocolate or green tea flourless cake selection. They also serve cooked food and ramen but I have not tried those. Drink presentation is also a bit unusual, with some in standard mugs and glasses and some arriving looking like a science experiment in beakers, test tubes and flasks. The cold brew coffee as a science experiment allows the customer to mix and match components of coffee, ice and milk to their liking or to create two different drinks out of the combinations of the ingredients! Cakes arrive with some unusual condiments but the mix of tastes work surprisingly well. The two floor levels are decked out with interesting wood intensive decor and random splashes of astro turf. It all adds to the experience. The upstairs section has more space and also has a bar but it is normally closed, perhaps it opens of a evening. Prices are a bit higher than your average coffee shop, but give them a go for quality coffee or chocolate drinks.

Super place, visiting Brisbane for work and with my family. We were walking the shopping district and not to inspired by our kids calls for a Macas or a food court stop for a snack, spotted this place from outside and thought it would be small. Came in and went to the middle floor, sat at the counter and all had juices, smoothies and I had the Açai bowl. Awesome!!!!! I love meat and thought it would be a disappointment for a snack but am a convert. Would highly recommend it. Lady serving on the middle floor was great.

I went down to order 2 hot chocolates. The lady taking the order told me they were going to close the upstairs section soon and we had to walk back down if we wanted to order. Despite the fact that I told her my Mum took 15mins to walk up the stairs, she refused to let us stay there claiming there was a board stating the area upstairs was out of bounds. When I asked her to point out the sign, the board she pointed to was blank. We then left. I intend to lodge a full complaint to the manager.
