Beautiful little shop. Expect a long wait because it's just run by a couple, and they are very popular. Absolutely worth the wait - food was great. They have an excellent range of Japanese sweets. I would definitely visit again

Really nice atmosphere and service here, had a ramen and dorayaki, can’t say it was the best but pretty fair with the price, if we come back again, we would like to try other Japanese desserts! There’s only 3 tables (maybe 10 seats) in the shop, but you can leave your numbers and the lovely owner will call you soon when the seats are available.

Amazing small restaurant ran by a lovely Japanese couple! Remind me the old days walking in Tokyo and Kyoto narrow streets when travelling in Japan.
It is a must to try when visiting Kuranda village.
Only three tables but worth waiting to be seated.
Highly recommended to try the dessert with crushed ice and sweet beans, taste great! We really enjoyed their authentic Japanese hospitality!!

Omg, I really love this place! Very traditional Japanese restaurant in the middle of the Kuranda markets. The place is so cute, really loved the terrace and the owners are really nice. I advice you the sticky rice with an egg and cheese. Also I loved the way that they did my matcha. 100x100 recommended!!

A tiny slice of Japanese food & culture heaven in the rainforest. We love coming here - we love the curry chicken bowls, rice bowls, daifuku sweets, sweet bean rice and the green tea. It’s all so yummy and so authentic! Great & surprisingly efficient service with the wonderful couple that run this beautiful small restaurant.

Lovely Japanese pair run this place and it's so authentic ! Had a refreshing cold noodle soba and ramune. They also offer hand made shaved ice with matcha sweets. Super hidden gem in cairns would highly recommend eating here

Authentic Japanese taste. Hidden gem when you sit at the limited spaces at the back listening to water sound and surrounded by greens. Chef is Japan trained professional traditional dessert chef.

An absolute gem! This Japanese cafe overlooks a bamboo forest and is filled with so much kindness. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious and the matcha is authentic. Couldn't think of a better place to sip a tea, have a wholesome lunch and soak up some energy from the beautiful vibe. Plus they have a lot of vegan options! :)

Beautiful experience inside the rainforest. The Japanese couple serving were amazingly hospitable and the food was delicious. 5 stars all round! Went yesterday. Additionally, good covid safe practices.

There is a reason this place has 58 reviews and 5 stars. Best authentic Japanese food. Best customer service my heart ❤
Will be back time and time again. Also after you eat and drink here head to the tea place just down epic epic epic.

The shop was really busy but the owners were extremely courteous, friendly and welcoming. My husband loved the chicken curry and I really enjoyed the sesame miso cold noodles. We also had a cold matcha drink and matcha shaved ice. Would definitely recommend to anyone cisiting!

Wow! This is a beautiful and unique food experience- one of the best in all of FNQ! A tiny shop, with 3 tables overlooking the lush gardens and market, where you can try incredible authentic Japanese sweets with matcha. Also some savoury small meals like rice, or noodles with veg and egg. A hidden gem. I recommend getting there early while it more peaceful.

Such amazing food. The best Japanese Curry outside of Japan and the best Miso with dumplings that I have ever had and I have eaten alot. The owners were so so lovely and friendly to top it off.
Thank you for such a wonderful meal

Had the most surreal experience and reminded me of our trip to beautifuk Japan. We are so lucky to have this place here in Australia to visit while we wait for international travel to resume.
We had the cold noodle salad with a beautiful, refreshing soup base in the serene surroundings of Kuranda. You can also hear the waters here in this quaint place- a must visit!

This place is amazing. If you like Japanese sweets, give them a try. Sit at the back and enjoy the view. Browse through their kimonos and tea sets. A gem in the rainforest.

Quaint little cafe that hosted us for lunch.
Unbelievably simple but awesome Nippon fare. Had the cold soba and the salad noodles - 2 thumbs up.

Located inside one of the most unique marketplaces that I have ever seen. It offers japanese snacks with authentic taste & ambience. Love the way the owner showed me how to prepare a proper drink for myself. He is such a great bloke. The decor is fascinating too, especially for doraemon-lover!

Charming tiny Japanese place run by an older Japanese couple. Rare find in the otherwise touristy Kuranda markets, thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Very calming atmosphere.

Small dessert shop run by friendly Japanese couple, I definitely recommend their matcha shaved ice! However the hot foods on the other hand were not really good sorry to say... maybe it's due to limited resources? But the price was fair enough 😊
S. C.
Absolutely 💯 amazing 👏 flavours from Japan....takes me back there 5 stars.

(Translated) I ordered the soy sauce ramen and eucalyptus dumplings, both are super delicious, the dumplings have a little mint aroma, and the soy sauce ramen is full of aroma, but the portion is more delicate
Five stars definitely recommend!

點了醬油拉麵跟尤加利葉糰子,都超級超級好吃,糰子有一點薄荷香,醬油拉麵則是香氣十足,但份量比較精緻一些
五星絕對推薦!

(Translated) I entered with the sound of the koto. I didn't expect to eat Japanese food in Curanda. It was a pity that the menu was small, but I am happy just to be able to eat local Japanese food. The clerk was also friendly. I will visit you again.

お琴の音につられて入りました。キュランダで和食を食べるとは思わなかったです。メニューが少ないのが残念でしたが土地柄和食が食べられるだけでもうれしいです。店員さんもフレンドリーでした。また伺います。
