Comments of John Mills Himself
Z. A.
I ordered a flat white and was tasty. The barista seems love to make coffee as I see that with this great cup. I prefer single origin for my coffee and they serve several options.
What I like mostly about JMH is the the atmosphere and the friendly staff.
Highly recommended for filter and espresso.
T. N.
Love this bar and cafe! Their selection of Australian gin is endless and lots of delicious drink options. Their cocktails are yum 👌🏼
Great coffee during the day and doughnuts on Fridays 😉 Makes perfect coffee everytime!
The staff are super nice and friendly too.
M. C.
Very good coffee, place a little bit hide in some niche between the buildings, but worth to find 😀
B. W.
Nice small coffee shop and bar tucked away in an alley. We used the secondary access from Charlotte Street, through a bit of a corridor and past the Koala trust shop. I had the batch brew and my wife a flat white. Choice of bean on the flat white. Also had an almond friand and a cookie. All very delicious, friendly service. Highly recommend for a visit and would probably make it a regular if we weren't about to move out of the CBD!
S. H.
One of the best coffee in Brisbane!
Come and try it!
O. L.
Serves decent coffee in the day and shifts to a welcoming bar at night. Atmosphere is warm and cosy, more suited for the ‘to-go’ coffee in the daytime as there is a small amount of space inside. I always feel welcomed by the staff who make great conversation.
K. C.
I've tried heaps of mochas over many months and in my opinion this cafe has to be one of my favourite. The mocha with the dairy milk chocolate and orange essence is just so nice - highly recommended.
P. P.
Awesome coffee shop that i have been to. The Best Mocha, Dark Hot choco in the town. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is soothing.....
W.
They really care about coffee here. Excellent coffee and very efficient and friendly service.
M. A.
Great coffee and vibe!! A must try
A. P.
Amazing venue, dishing out premium coffee... And also a Passport Hot Chocolate system. It's a great idea to try all the flavors!
I love the friendly staff and the quirky hot chocolate flavors. The venue is beautiful outside and in. But it really shines in its delicious baked goods, and amazing drinks.
I'm slightly addicted, but I'm determined to fill my passport 😋

Went there for the first time after recommended by a friend. The location is a bit hidden away from the main streets. Great little bar. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the beer and whisky. Highly recommended if you like craft beer. Noticed they do brew and pour over coffee. Not many cafes do these in Brisbane. Will defined come back.
D. M.
A cozy, quaint Melbourne-style coffee shop with excellent coffee and friendly service. Their dark chocolate mocha with macadamia nut milk is amazing! They accept all major credit cards, including American Express (AMEX), without a silly surcharge, so I will definitely be back! I do, however, wish they had more pastry options later in the day because they were sold out of croissants by noon. The place also is difficult to find but well worth the search effort in order to discover this hidden gem of a coffee shop in Brisbane!
A. B.
Brilliant hidden gem of a cafe and bar. These amazing barristers can create beautiful coffees as well as yummy hot chocolate. Couldn’t be a more friendly cafe. Can see why seek this cafe out. Also use Maleny and Barambah milk to make an even better coffee tea or hot choc. Thanks guys. You’re now my city local
C. C. T.
Figuratively and literally speaking, 'JOHN MILLS, HIMSELF' - is one of those 'hidden gem' cafes. And with delicious coffees and decadent deserts available (see my YouTube), seems a great way to start day.
D. R.
My friend brought me here as one if his good coffee spots in the city. Decided to come as the name made me laugh as well. Funny name. Friend is right, good coffee and great ambiance. This definitely is a hidden gem in the Brisbane CBD.

Probably the best coffee you can get in Brisbane city. Head to the John Mills building next to the police station on Charlotte street then descend into the building's basement. After walking along a corridor you will be greeted by the fragrance of freshly ground coffee coupled with the steamy sounds of the machine.
The staff are an absolute delight. They're chatty but not too talkative to be annoying. They will make your coffee as you like it and won't charge extra to pay on card or have it lactose free.
The down side is the toilets are very aged and the cistern wouldn't fill for me to flush. Fortunately, the staff sprang into action as soon as I let them know.
On a particularly hot and muggy day, it can get quite uncomfortable sitting inside the cafe itself as the air circulation is quite poor.
I want to give 4.5 stars because the service and the coffee is 5 star but they are let down by the idiosyncrasies of a heritage building. Will update my review when it gets cooler.
P. K.
Excellent little cafe hidden away. Coffee is premium with a great range. Service is great too.
N. S. (.
You know how when you hunt for something that is feels better than just gathering? Hunting for this coffee was my mission.
Walking along singing to the tune of the children's ditty "We're going on a bear hunt" ..... I sang "Going on a coffee hunt, we're going to catch a good one. We're not scared..."
I survived my journey but I daresay that's because back alleyways and alleyways in general have always appealed to me. I even combated with the hordes of mindless millennials and office workers to get my much needed caffeine.
The journey, varieties, the philosophy, the ambience of the venue, the staff (prostrated, frustrated but still smiling), the divine pastries and of course the coffee were worth the wait (and weight).
Beautiful and adoringly decorated venue. Shame I didn't take my camera on the day in question and a place like this one deserves a really a photo not taken on a phone. #HeritagePhotographyBliss
Absolutely adore the bar miles (although think should be bar kilometres as we are Australian) philosophy they have.... especially as it's how I buy my own produce. Good on them for shouting proudly "live local, buy local" and actually following through with the buy local concept.
" All measurements are taken ‘as the car/truck drives’ to the cellar door of each label.
The portfolio of brands has been hand-selected for quality, integrity and uniqueness."
.....
"Beers are sourced from within a 200km drive, wines from not more than 250km and
spirits from Australian made and owned distilleries. The only exception:
a tequila, made in Mexico, which is 48% Australian owned." - from their lovely simply menu.
Definitely have to come back later one Friday to try one of their Expresso Martinis ❤❤
T. B.
Cute cafe hidden down a lane. Excellent coffee and fast service too. My kinda place.
V. T.
What can I say? Although it was tricky to find this little café/bar, I was amazed the moment I stepped in. Popular among people who love good coffee, this cafe delivers standards way above expectations. The first sip of my cappuccino blew me away with its taste and exquisite presentation. The small space certainly does not deter morning coffee crowds and I can see why. Staffs were cool and certainly very welcoming. Highly recommended.
K. C.
Served with a great big smile from friendly staff! Delicious cappuccino, smooth and perfectly brewed! The sprinkle of dark chocolate bits adds a subtle sweetness to it, tastes amazing! Nice little spot down an alleyway/driveway, a relaxed atmosphere!
C. L.
Awesome coffee, exceptional service for this rare gem that is hidden away. The daily speciality blends are the ones to go for.
E. C.
Great staffs great coffee great interior. Service is so efficient. Never miss a beat. And they have dark mocha!
J. Y.
I really like the location of this cafe, it feels like your secret asylum for a decent break. They have really good coffee with various types of making it. V60 pourover, piccolo, it’s full of surprises. The place is full of great vibes, go exploring it!!
S.
We loved it! The double shot coffee in a bottle was a big hit! A cool trendy bar/cafe nestled in the most unexpecting place. Priced are fairly reasonable however cocktails are on the priced side.
Nonetheless we loved our visit!
D. S.
Great coffee spot. Love the fact it is "hidden" deep down an alleyway. Enthused to visit again and experience the evening bar service that other visitors speak of - I can see it would be cozy and classy.
N. M.
Friendly, warming, little, coffee nook. Great way to perk up my Monday or celebrate my Friday. Never any judgment for my zombie coffee creation (seriously though, try ordering a chilli dark chocolate mocha sometime, not as crazy as it sounds).
Neat little selection of sweet treats. Staff are possibly the best part of my workday. Always keen for a chat and make you feel part of the team, not just a number. Quirky location as well, gives a slight Melbourne feel.
Oh and I always cheekily look at the craft beer taps in the morning. Top notch selections. One day I’ll come back to try one post-work.
E. L.
Amazing selection of Aussie gins! Their cocktails are also insanely good.
E. W.
Awesome coffee. Read about this place in a magazine and was hard to find. Reward was good. Must try if you are a coffee person. Staff are very friendly. Cheers guys.
C. T.
The best pit stop for a mid ride caffeine injection. The columbian doppio I had was simply the best.
I. N.
This is my favourite coffee shop in Brisbane CBD. Consistently excellent coffee and friendly staff.
My standard order these days is a flat white but they do perfect batch brews for delicious black coffee, and their range of hot chocolates is to die for. I particularly like the bergamot on dark hot chocolate (and rosemary on milk or dark chocolate is surprisingly delicious).
Pastry/cake offerings are great (though sometimes you need to get there a little early if you're after something specific as they can run out). Oh and donut Fridays!
Good range of coffee beans to purchase. Staff are helpful if you're after some.
Haven't been to the bar at night for a while but have always enjoyed that in the past. Local beer and wine options.
Very highly recommended.
t. n.
A place is a little bit hard to find for tourist. Tiny coffee shop, good vibe with well-made coffee. Friendly staff.(u get discount with byo cup as well)
K. S.
As a small business owner and also supporting all other small and medium business owners, JMH excels. Great drinks sourced only Aussie / Local based. As a big fan of speak-easy bars, this is the perfect hangout! Great selection, great service. I have been atleast 7 times now and never been disappointed.
E. M.
A hidden gem in the bottom of a building on Charlotte St (down the stairs and right at the giant koala), or down a laneway off Elizabeth St. Tight space if you're dining in but great quality coffee and lovely friendly service. I eyed off the treat cabinet but didn't get any. They looked delicious.
O. C.
Great coffee as always and a really lovely atmosphere!!
N. K.
Quality is good balance in here. Mood is also good but, It's difficult to find this location. But I love SB & Mocha!
B. M.
This place is bomb! A bomb shelter that is. It super cozy and feels like shady business deals go on there all the time. My latte was fantastic and there service was great! The maze to get there was cool too!
S. Z.
The espresso is made perfection and staffs are very nice as well~ Love John Mills Himself ❤️❤️❤️
N. M.
Love this coffee place. Coffee is always smooth and creamy. Perfect temperature... I wish they took cash as well as card. The fact that’s it’s hidden down a lane makes it my little secret CAFÉ.
N.
The space may be small, dainty, petite - whatever you want to call it, but it's great and my favourite in Brisbane. Rarely get to go there but it's always a good time when I do.
y. w.
Don’t miss this one when in town! Like a secret place where you can grab a nice coffee and enjoy sneaking outta the office with friends lol flat white highly recommended!
M. T.
Definitely not your 'Run of the Mill' type of coffee shop. Fresh beans and smooth taste
R.
The Best Ever Coffee Shop.
If you don't know what to Try,
Then simply Order -
Large Mocha with 2 Sugars and Dark Orange Chocolate.
That's all.
Thank me Later
J. B.
The coffee here is amazing. I ordered a flat white on the blend and it was smooth and creamy. I am only giving this cafe 4 stars because they don’t accept cash. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.
A. K.
Probably the best coffee you can get in Brisbane city. hidden cafe, good quality. Staff is sooooo nice.
L. F.
I've gotten my coffee from here every morning for the last few and every cup has been absolutely perfect! I'm quite finicky with coffee and I've been pleasantly surprised with each and every sip. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The café itself has a relaxed atmosphere which is nice to find in the City. The café is in this quaint yet charming red brick building. Couldn't recommend this cafe more! Unfortunately I didn't have time to visit at night when they switch from café to bar.
Thank you so much for the great coffee!
D. H.
Make a beeline here for your morning #coffee. Better than whatever option is right outside. Oh does work mean you can't go more than 2 minutes away? Solution: quit. Worth it.
Batch brew is awesome for those who are impatient too.
B. W.
Really friendly people who work here and decent coffee too. Such an interesting entrance from Charlotte St so now I walk down the ramp from Elizabeth St instead (left of 55 Eliz St). Feels a bit hidden. It can get quite loud inside when sitting down though.
L. C.
BEST DIRTY CHAI EVER
And whoever served my friend and i early this morning was the most lovely man with an anazing vibe definitely coming back
D. ..
One of the best coffee I've ever had, definitely the best in QLD
M. M.
Great rotation of single origin coffees from different rosters as well as the house blend. Extremely friendly and happy to recommend a coffee for your taste. Kept me in caffeine while working on weekdays. The space has great atmosphere as well. Looking forward to an after work drink when COVID-19 is done.
F. P.
Love the atmosphere and the staff are friendly. Good coffee always, Service is too quick. Great guys
E. M.
Enjoying an Ethiopian single origin at John Mills Himself.
Really good coffee if you can find the location.
T. C.
This place is just excellent. Great coffees, great mocha, great vibe and they're open as a bar at night time too!
B. H.
I love visiting this place. Such an experience and the staff are so passionate about their coffee. You really have to make the trip down the lane yourself to see what I mean. I doubt you will be disappointed
K. G.
The place is like very hidden inside the street. I have to follow gg maps and still couldnt find it at the 1st palce. But kinda nice place , It was busy when I got there. Didnt get chance to take pics from inside
A. E.
One of the best coffee shops to hide from the hustle of the CBD
A. A. D.
Great place with great coffee I absolutely recommend checking it out. Will absolutely visit again
M. H.
Superbe hidden coffee shop away from busy queen Street. The coffee is on point and the service is warm and friendly. And they have craft beer!
A. T.
Great spot for coffee and love that it's hidden away. Only went for coffee but would like to return in the evening sometime! Great coffee too!
S.
Best coffee I've had in Brisbane with exceptional service. Highly recommend John Mills Himself!
V. S.
Always a great experience here. Regularly introduce this coffee shop to friends. It's just the best service and most excellent coffee in Brisbane!
B. i. B.
Again a nice time. Staff know the stories of the beers, wines and gins.
C. M.
Very boutique and hidden but a fantastic range of gins and spirits
G. T.
As a coffee lover, i love to taste coffee from good coffee shop. I loved to drink coffee here (John Mills Himself). Thanks for your great service.
T. R.
Great little nook and excellent coffee. Very hard to find but worth it!
A. M. M.
Best cappuccino I’ve had in so long! Friendly service.
S. W.
Simply the best coffee in Brisbane. One of my top two places in Australia.
J.
Great coffee place. They are affiliated to Bunker Coffee I believe and if you love the coffee you can bring them home in a bottle. My sister loves their cold Dark Chocolate Mocha in a bottle.
D. B.
Really great people working there who have a true passion for what they do. Top notch coffee in ways you likely won't find else where, such as pour over and drip canisters on stand by. The way coffee should be done!
H. F.
Tucked away at the back of a building this place is a hidden gem which I have recently discovered. The coffee is amazing. The hot chocolate is awesome too made with real chocolate and so many different flavours. Would love it if there was more seating available through as it fills up at busy times and not very suitable for larger groups.
L.
Mocha is sooo great! not so sweet. got addictive!!
A. S.
Good coffee, they don't take long to remember your name and order, good service. There large is only the size of a medium 12oz at other cafe's but the coffee is still good
Z. C.
Brilliant coffee, lovely and friendly staff, cozy and atmospheric, highly recommended.
D.
This is the best coffee shop in Brisbane! Would not go anywhere else for coffee as they cannot compete with John Mills Himself friendly staff, great atmosphere and most importantly the best tasting coffee! Their treats are also fantastic there’s nothing like a chocolate brownie or a raspberry blondie to go with a great brew!
Keep up the great work John Mills!!
N. C.
Best hot chocolate in Brisbane hands down! Whenever my friends and I need a place to grab a drink we always go out of our way to head here. Top quality service to match a top quality place.
S. B.
Nice hidden coffee place in the city centre.
H. L.
the food was spectacular. It was so real my friend said it was the only place she'd ever been that SMELLED like her southern mom's kitchen. I ate till I was beyond stuffed because everything was so freaking good.Beautiful gardens. Small and easy walking. Entered through the main entrance with plenty of parking. Right off the parking lot is a "little free library" and a picnic area.
W. S.
They sell coffee. Nice coffee. Take the person you fancy from the office, they will think you are sophisticated.
B. P.
The best customer service experience, every visit. lovely atmosphere with a great offering of coffee, beer, spirits and other beverages. Highly recommend!
K. R.
Best coffee shop in the CBD! The staff is very friendly and I've never had a bad experience with them. The coffee is next to perfect, nice and flavorful but not overbearing. Only caveat is the limited space, so it's not a great place to sit and have a coffee, especially during busy times, but the feeling of the place makes up for it. Check this place out!
A. N.
Hidden little gem with a bespoke atmosphere. Coffee was delicious, loved how they use chocolate shavings on top of the cappuccino. Worth exploring.
D. S.
Rad little bar. Staff are always friendly and remember the regulars. Enthusiastic about the drinks they serve and with a real local focus for all the drinks (Anywhere which serves Granite Belt wines gets a big plus for promoting the underrated region). Definitely worth a visit.
G. A.
Fantastic coffee, espressos always made to perfection and served with a glass of sparkling water. Reopens in the evening as a bar serving a number of locally sourced drinks.
2016-01 update: Still one the best places in Brisbane to get a coffee. Espressos are still perfect, service is great. Bought a great little bespoke keepup, if you take it to the shop to get your coffee, you get 50 cents off.
N. D.
Lovely little coffee Cafe to be discovered in the back streets of the CBD. Friendly service and great coffee
R. F.
Great small bar. Interesting cocktails and friendly staff
W. P.
I enjoy walking through a labryinth (past a random shop with koala-related paraphernalia) to get to this place. It brings a little magic into your day.
I come to John Mills solely for the hot chocolate. They're not super thick, but the dark chocolates are rich enough to hit the spot, and I love the interesting flavours you can try. Always a treat.
D. L.
Tucked away in a secret spot, this place serves some of the best coffee in Brisbane.
Not a huge venue, so seating is at a premium but the coffee is totally worth that minor inconvenience.
Long lines at times is a testament to the quality. But again, worth the wait.
s. l. p.
Busy little espresso bar serving good coffees and great hot chocolates (cappuccino are served with yum flaked chocolate on top). The bar service that becomes alcoholic after 4pm or so and the little laneway location is a great little place to grab a frothy one. Lovely staff.
C. S.
Quite disappointed with my small coffee, a double shot small coffee should be strong but it was very milky. Coffee left a strange roasted aftertaste. I'm not a coffee snub but I would recommend another place. Top marks for the location and vibe inside the coffee shop.
M. E.
Fabulous coffee, bordering on perfect.
A choice of bean is available, with the house blend being smooth and full. Single origins (presumably) on rotation offer a choice of flavours should you so fancy.
Simple food available on the side, which is presented well and fuss-free.
Seating is very limited, which is unsurprisingly a result of the small floor space.
Hidden somewhat, but worth the effort to find.
C. B.
Funky little coffee shop worth the wandering down an little alley way! The guys here know what they're doing with coffee, and their iced coffees in the fridge next to the counter look particularly appetising. I had a standard cap, which had great froth and an interesting taste to boot. Might get a bit of getting used to but if I'm in need of a coffee hit and I'm in the area, I'll definitely pop by again.
D. O.
Very specialised cocktail nook...Grove coconut rum TD4! Bar tender knows his craft and was a master mixer.
M. J.
Charming historical space with top rate coffee
J. E.
Coffee by day, cocktail bar by night: John Mills Himself is above and beyond the pack.
Best coffee in Brisbane by 100 miles. Exceptional from beans to brew. Bottled cold brew selection with different types of milk to go (whole, skim, soy + coffee + agave syrup) is delicious. Same goes for their chocolate drinks, hot or iced, milk or dark. Service is kind, courteous, welcoming. Goldilocks right.
J. P.
I walked past a Koala store and through an alley to get to John Mills. So cool !
Also the coffee is great, service was quick and atmosphere was awesome. Love the cozy feel guys - keep it up !
M. T.
This is my favourite coffee shop in Brisbane. Their hot chocolates are fantastic, especially the Xocolatl Spice. The coffee is to die for. My only complaint is the seating. I like to write while I drink a coffee, but that's not really possible in this location.
L. w.
Awesome specialty coffee really nice nook in the city to escape too.
Definity recommend for people who love coffee.
Jmh always seems to have the pick in guest single origins, massive plus to this place is how nice all the staff seem to be
M. O.
Great coffee, great staff. And great donuts on Fridays.
m. c.
In my opinion the best coffee in the city by far. Consistently great coffee. It's high on my list of places to go whenever I'm in town. The staff are very knowledgeable. Also recommend buying beans from here.
R. J.
I've no idea how I reviewed you 1 star - JMH is a great coffee shop in a beautiful building with really friendly staff, an amazing range of coffee and a great place to have a alcoholic drink later in the afternoon.
All I can think is I somehow pocket reviewed you by mistake because I love your coffee shop and the surrounding Koala shop and book store.
So sorry for the 1 star review - absolutely a mistake on my part.
R. S.
The best cafe in Brisbane, hands down. I’ve lived in Brisbane my whole life and can honestly say that this city is populated with too many cafes (new ones every week!). Cafes have become yuppie central with a move away from the coffee (and good food) to aesthetically driven designs, trends and just cinematic food. JMH stays true to a coffee shop, I always try and visit (especially donut day), sit down, have a batch brew and read a book. I love the bustle of seeing the city workers walk in and drink the caffeinated beverage that runs their day (and mood). To any tourist coming here please just spend a morning sitting here, drinking a coffee and people watching because this cafe is truely what living in Brisbane is like.
F. G.
Flat white is a little bit too...flat. maybe the blend would work for espresso but not quite for FW.
Nice but small cafe tucked away. Bar in the evening. Guess should give an espresso a try and revise.
Tried espresso: nice pull, just about right. Went well with a small cake.
E. S.
Not easy to spot off Charlotte street but obviously many are in the know as there was a decent queue late morning on a weekday. The service was quite fast and they do a range of sizes and also offer a small discount for byo cup. Offers some basic seating but this is definitely more popular for takeaway.
L. S.
I wouldn't go anywhere else for coffee. It's always fabulous, and I love how they rotate the beans, so you can always try something new. The staff are amazing, and they always remember what I like, and make suggestions based on this.
J. L.
Small, intimate bar with a very well thought out selection of drinks (all local) to show off the best of Australian beverages. They make a mean martini. Coffee also amazing!
j. S.
Great coffee, cool location, the right kind of hipsters making said coffee.. 😁
N. S.
Awesome little place. In an old printing shop hidden inside some alleys intersecting some office bldgs. Coffee was amazing. Had the Ethiopia espresso. Loved the flavor.
N. S.
The team at the bunker are incredible! They brighten up my day at every visit! The service is impeccable and the coffee, drinks and food are to die for! So much love for this place!
P. K.
Finley was amazing - very friendly with lots of great recommendations for the Brisbane area. Fantastic mixologist!
l. b. j.
Always amazing coffee.
D. L.
Cute bar hidden in an alley, amazing cocktails, excellent atmosphere and the staff are gorgeous. Best bar I've been to in a long time. Can't recommend John Mills Himself enough.
A. L.
Great service, everyone here is so friendly and the hot choccies are wonderful. It's a tiny velue that gets very busy but the line goes quickly. Loved the selection of fancy hot chocs although they were just infused with essential oils however great value considering.
F. A.
The best coffee (in Australia) and hot chocolate (maybe in the world???) for me 🤩🤩🤩
S. S.
Love the coffee and the speed. Staff are friendly as well. The food looks good but i haven't consumed any thing yet from this coffee shop.
M. G.
John Mills Himself constantly impresses with terrific coffee and a great rotating range of beans from different roasters. There is always something new to try and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about coffee.
J. C.
This can't get anything less than full marks, even though there's not much seating. The coffee's good (probably not the best I've had in this city), the atmosphere good, and the attention to detail impressive. I love the old building, too.
D. P.
Hidden gem. Best coffee in Brisbane cbd. No meals, just snacks which works for the kind of vibe it has. It can be busy in the morning rush hour (word may be out!) which can be a challege because it's quite cosy, but the staff are fast and friendly so it tends to not be problem. It's also a bar at night which would be cool (there's a piano!) - I'll have to check it out some time.
R. M.
One of the best coffee shops in Brisbane! I also love the dark chocolate cold milk sold in a bottle. Very limited seating.
R. R.
Amaaaaaazing everything. Try their gorgeous range of hot chocolates. A great place to buy beans for your home coffee brew, lovely spot with great staff.
R. A.
Feels right at home at John Mills, takes me home to Fitzroy. Tucked away in a little alley, hipster coffee counter/bar by night. Serves amazing coffee cold and hot. Went back for more everyday on our visit in Brisbane.
E. V. U.
Love this place! Great coffee, great staff, but it's always super busy! In their cappuccinos they used shaved chocolate!
P. C.
Nice coffee, interesting location.
Not great if you prefer sugar rather than substitute. Little expensive.
N. K.
Hidden coffee shop in a heart of Brisbane CBD
B. F.
Great place to grab an excellent cup of coffee.
D. M.
Delicious rich and smooth coffee. Well worth hunting this place out - as it can be tricky to find. There is no Street front so you do need to look out for signage.
b. b.

Great hidden gem. Great variety of delicious coffees. Pour over, espresso, cold brew, etc. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable baristas.
A. F.
My wife and I travel the world looking for the best hot chocolates. The dark hot chocolate here is exceptional This is without question the best in Brisbane. Right up there with top offerings from Buenos Aires and Madrid.
R. H.
The smoothest iced coffee I've ever had. I keep coming back for the bottled dark chocolate milk though - you won't taste better choc milk than this.
D. S.
John Mills is a trend setter for Brisbane coffee scene. Very popular
P. S.
Great coffee and Kuhl atmosphere.
B. H.
Cozy and perfect cafe.it hide in building.
I would like to come again!

My go-to place when I'm in town. Coffee tastes great and the team is efficient. Nice snacks, too ☺
G. R.
Coffee is always excellent, service is always very good and the acholic drinks are superb. Their Martini extra dry is something I would recommend to martini lovers.
P. W.
Always a good coffee from here. Love the atmosphere and the staff are friendly. Wait times vary though and sometimes it’s not the quickest.
B. S.
Some of the best coffee in the CBD. It has the highest volume of customers with reusable Keep Cups I have seen anywhere.
K. B.
Awesome vibe, lovely staff and amazing coffee.
R. M.
Amazing coffee, hot and cold press. Excellent hot chocolates. The fridge also has fantastic dark chocolate milk and dark chocolate mocha; thick, creamy, and use good chocolate.
G.
One of the coolest cafes I've ever seen, it's like one of those hidden spots you sometimes look for in videogames. Tricky to find but a real gem, and the coffee is something else!
G. W.
Best coffee going and a great vibe to the space.
r. i.
Awesome coffee and super cool spot (albeit a bit tricky to find). Big fan of sister stores Bunker and Bessa too.
L. G.
This place is so cool. It's literally underground and the coffee is dangerously good. Awesome vibe and atmosphere. Unfortunately no WIFI, but this place is still a force star experience.
B. t.
Great coffee and service in a really great little spot! Im not sure what goes into their chocolate milk but I suspect it is borderline illegal.
C. M.
Always great service no matter how busy they get! As a fellow barista I applaud the consistent coffee quality 😁
R. H.
Relentless delivery of consistently high quality of service, engagement, experience and java . . .
All present are passionate about all the above . . .
My only cbd coffee spot . . .
Observation not criticism, could use some art on the walls . . .

This Cafe is dear to me, the coffee is consistently excellent and the environment equally so. However with this comes great confusion for me atleast, and that confusion roots from the name. Why, what does it mean, who is this 'John mills'. Upon entering the store his name is found unfailing everywhere. A bold tile stylisation of his name is found upon the entry. It truly is one of the most perplexing puzzles I have come across in my life. Many nights I have read throughly searching for its history, meaning. Alas nothing. I wonder how much longer it will take to crack the secret of John mills, and who he really is.
E. C.
A little hard to find, as it's tucked back after the driveway. Fonzie Abbott coffee by day, and independent bar at night.
L. L.
This place is a little hard to find but worth doing laps around Charlotte & Elizabeth street to find it. The coffee is strong, treats are delicious and service is friendly.
J. M.
