This spot is HIDDEN GEM in Brissy! Awesome coffee, especially their bagel menus spectacular! It was the best bagel I've ever had, try theirs. Please!
C. L. L. V. L.
Brissy's best kept secret - a blink and you'd miss it Cafe with awesome coffee (and a piccolo only works with a good blend and a good barista) and the best home-made Granola I've had for ages. I'll come back for sure.
F.
Strauss is Fantastic! They have a nice selection of food and excellent coffee. If you are a batch brew fan, try theirs, it's spectacular. It's the right spot for a business meeting or to get some work done on your own.
P. T.
Trendy cafe with great food. In a small laneway Strauss makes for a quiet little getaway in central Brisbane. The meals are meticulously crafted and extremely fresh and the chai and hot chocolates are delicious!
Thanks for friendly chats, speedy service, and my yummy tomato relish to take home :D.
A. D.
Hidden deep down a laneway, this gem of a cafe is a place you'll regret walking past. I had come with a friend for brunch and we were welcomed nicely by staff. The cafe draws you in with the smell of fresh coffee and the cosy atmosphere. I had started with a latte which had the perfect amount of froth and tasted amazing. I then ordered the Avocado toast. The clean and simple presentation of the dish was extremely mouth-watering. The rye bread had a crunchy crust while having a fluffy inside. The combination of flavours were exceptional - from the fresh avocado and marinated feta drizzled with lemon, it was very pleasing on the tongue. The pricing is fair as the dish had the perfect portion while also using high-quality ingredients. Overall, I believe Strauss is one of the best cafes in the Brisbane CBD and recommend this place to everyone.
D. F.
Great coffee. Small but very good breakfast menu. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Hint: it's at the end of a narrow laneway off the main street without great signage, be careful not to walk past.
F. R.
Amazing food and great service!
D. L. O.
Great little spot for a coffee and something to eat . Air conditioned inside, with good sized table space to conduct your weekly meetings 😉👌
O. A.
Cool decoration and outdoor seating area with small blanket. The barista is cute!!! Always smile and helpful. Superb aroma and tase on coffee that we chose. Food is also great.
Good price

While in Brisbane I tried Strauss in the usual fashion with an espresso and a flat white. The Coffee Supreme five star day blend was nice in the flattie, but I was disappointed to get the other half of the shot as my espresso, especially when there was some tasty single options on the shelf. Overall not bad, but there is definitely better options nearby.
J. V.
Exceptional coffee. Classic allyway dining. Only downside is the alley needs washing.
L. D.
Little hidden gem. Good atmosphere, and they make beautiful avocado toasts with cheese and grains and very good coffee. In fact best coffee I had in CBD so far, very smooth and aromatic.
k. t.
Falafel sandwich perfectly seasoned, good texture soft but bit too soft. Bread perfect sliced and crispy. The atmosphere is small BUT cozy and classical I like
L. Y.
Nice staff. Good food. Definitely recommended.
B. T.
Excellent food and coffee. Has a "country store" feel inside the city. Maybe the best Reuben in all of Brisbane.
F. S.
A very nice Coffee nook. The flat white we had was very good. My son had a Long Black coffee, he commented, a great brew. 😊👍
V. e. M.
As soon as you enter this fine establishment, you know you're about to experience something great. How can you tell? Firstly it's the smell. Coffee aroma gently waltzes into your consciousness and caresses you, imploring you to come in as you walk by the door. It's lucky this place is in a side alley. Otherwise the volume of street traffic who would end up here on autopilot, just through smell alone, would overwhelm the place.
On entering, you're greeted by friendly, genuine staff and the merciful hit of air conditioning. They have a great selection of food and to drink their coffee is to experience brief contact with the divine, via your taste buds.
Pro tip; how ever you like your coffee, try their cold brew. It'll slap you out of your caramel latte delusion and thrust you tongue first into a new dimension of caffeine inspired, super human focus and productivity.
E. L.
The coffee is really good. One of the best coffee I tried in Brisbane. Surely I will get one the next time I visit Brisbane.
S. D.
We searched for good coffee in Brisbane CBD every time we have come to this city. Finally found one. This place serves fantastic coffee and light meals. The meals are good but eclipsed by the fine brew coming off the machine. Gets a bit busy in the morning rush but waiting times are not bad. Try it... in fact try it twice.
T. G.
Amazing breakfast, one of the nicest I have had in the last year. A potato waffle with bechamel and an egg - what could go wrong with that, absolutely delicious - and good coffee as well. Brisbane is catching up to Melbourne with it's cool cafes
D. H.
One or Brisbane's best coffees. Worth travelling for. Stay a while.
L. P.
Love this coffee nook, consistently good flat whites/lattes. 2 of the male baristas in the morning are always really lovely and remember my name. Bit pricier, a keep cup discount would be appreciated like other cafes in the area but I'll still continue to pay the $5/12oz for their coffee because I know it'll be good quality.
A. D.
One of the staff members is so friendly. She gives me the heads up on the espresso and filter flavours! Their take on the Reuben sandwich is amazingly fresh but still decadent ! I’ve loved their falafel sandwich and always love their Danny’s bread! Coffee is consistently very good
A. C.
Good coffee and great food! I had the Avocado Toast which was delightful with the salty flavor of the feta, the toasty nuttiness of the almonds & pepita and the light lemon all playing well with the creamy avocado on a hearty toast; plus, I had the Warm Chicken and Chickpea Salad which was also delicious, the chicken was Herby and moist and complimented well by the tangy sun-dried tomatoes over lightly bitter greens and the creaminess of the poached eggs. Yes, you want this!
C. C.
Great little cafe. The gluten free avocado on toast with a poached egg is wonderful. Great for work day brunch meetings. Just wish they had decaf coffee.
A. L.
I've only tried the coffee here but it was excellent. Staff were really friendly and my coffee was beautiful. Great little soot that gets very busy, and my fellow bloggers tell me they have great breakfasts although the menu is limited and quite healthy.
C.
Lovely food, great atmosphere, excellent service. The food brew coffee was amazing! I loved it.
C. G.
Damn fine coffee. The large is a lil' small for the price but the consistent quality, the venue and the staff more than make up for it. Food can be a little small for the price point, but again, the quality makes up for it. The specials are always excellent as well.
L. D.
Really nice smooth cup of coffee in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. House-made salads looked really popular on a weekday. All the staff were friendly and attentive
N. R.
Really good coffee with fast service. Though I haven't tried them there's light meal offerings for breakfast and lunch which always look fantastic. There's a nice little seating area in the alley that helps pull you away from the hustle and bustle of Elizabeth Street.
R. P.
Really great coffee however a bit more expensive than I'd like ($5 for a 12 oz flat white),the atmosphere was pretty unwelcoming and no discount for a keep cup!! It's not hard to subtract the price of the paper cup and encourage eco-friendly habits
A. E.
The good: the coffee is darn good and the spot is pretty cool to sit in.
The terrible: just getting an order in took 15 minutes. A bagel with cream cheese and salmon was 15 bucks, stale and 100% not worth it. I'd maybe stick with grabbing a cup of coffee on the go with this place.
A. L.
Best coffee in Brisbane. Breakfast was divine. Staff were amazing with their service. Friendly and attentive.
D. C.
Delicious and affordable
E. S.
I wanted to go somewhere good for Breakfast while we were staying Brisbane. Trip Advisor couldn't give me the top Breakfast's. I found an other site that recommended Strauss but couldn't find which site it was. So we had a Gourmet delicious Breakfast, away from the standard that other Restaurants offer. The location was tuck away from the road down a alley way, we had wait a little as it got very busy and well worth it.
D. M.
Not a bad crack and replicating Melbourne's laneway cafe scene - super fast coffee service and despite having a compact menu, great alternatives for all tastes. Coffee was delicious and so was the Reuben. Table service which is more than welcome in this city :) great spot
C. E.
Love this place so much! Good coffee, good food, good service!
P. F. (. G.
I walk past dozens of coffee places to get to Strauss, and it's definitely worth it every time.
M. J.
Excellent single origin coffee from here in Queensland. The service staff are well organised & polite! Great for a quick stop when touring around Brisbane!
R. B.
Very relaxed vibe! Down the end of a little alley, so off the main road and away from the chaos. Quiet with dim lighting, good coffee and good food. I recommend for anyone wanting to escape the hubbub of downtown.
H. A.
This place was amazing! We found it on yelp and decided to give it a try. You have to walk down a small passageway, which we never would have found without already knowing it was there, but it was completely worth it. We ate lunch - delicious salads! Would definitely recommend.
A. C.
Impressive coffee, delicious freshly cooked food, relaxed funky ambience and attentive, friendly service. Thanks guys, I'll be back!
K. L.
Great vibes, hidden spot
I. N.
Great coffee and good simple cafe food. Nice find in a city laneway.
D. C.
Great food and coffee. Busy so make a booking if you want a particular time!
P. W.
A fun vibe here and one of Brisbane’s must have coffees. The baristas are consistent in delivering a quality drop regardless who you get. Can get busy and wait times increase during these times.
R. M.
Very good selection of coffee, great Barista, good and quick service.
H. L.
My mom ordered the Berkshire Pork Chop (with red peas, andouille sausage, broccoli greens). It was HUGE. I'm incredibly impressed how they could perfectly cook to a medium such a large chop without overcooking it. It was so tender and flavorful.Atleast 7 would be good but they do begin to extend to that time after the first week when kids are out you cant bring in outside food but hey they want to make money and no telling how much the cleanup would be with outside food there are picnic tables out in the front if you want to bring your lunch
h. L.
food is bad, coffee is ok,little upset to there for lunch
M. G.
The coffee isn't as amazing as it's hyped up but I still don't mind it. Cool interior design of the place. Previously, they used to take forever to make a coffee but lately have improved.
M. R.
My favourite coffee in Brisbane. Excellent coffee, wonderful service, reasonably priced (compared to other city locations). Sometimes the wait can be a bit long
J. V.
Great service, good food, good coffee. The staff are super friendly. Would recommend
L. E.
Great coffee very very smooth, nice avo on toast.
C.
Hidden down a lane way is this cool cafe. The coffee sensational and the food fresh and decent portions. You can't go wrong.
A.
Nice place. A line up for coffee can block the door.
s. e.
Best coffee and friendly staff. Absolutely, you should try avocado toast. It’s delicious!!!
M. J.
Years ago I was here to escape from the chilly weather in the midst of the winter season in NSW. There was a more extensive wine list then. Today when I returned, August 2, 2019 I was a little disappointed to find this had changed. I used to buy wine by the glass and talk to the staff about the grape varieties.
I had the idea to buys glass of wine and savouries today, like an antipasto plate while I was waiting to see a movie in the Elizabeth Street Cinema where Dwayne Johnson holds an artificial gun while wearing a number seven logo t-shirt and pausing Infront of the camera for an unnatural period of time.
But today, wine out of a "V Energy drink" sized can. It was surprisingly good, but I couldn't get over the can idea. The wine selection has shrunk to a few bottles in the fridge. 🙁
G. A.
Good little coffee shop, does great supreme coffees and alright breakfast. Enough space to sit down with a laptop.
But nothing extraordinary here, just nice coffee.
T. P.
Although it is neatly tucked away and the cafe has a beautiful interior. The coffee took over 30mins to come and was not a good coffee either! Service however was friendly.
A. L.
Could have been a once off, but for $4 and the reputation you'd expect top quality coffee, whereas I've paid less for better coffee elsewhere. Staff and service was excellent!
J. M.
Amazing coffee, great food and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend.
A. L.
Love this place. Have been coming since they opened and it is a nice little oasis. Great coffee, tasty food, wonderful service.
T. K.
Lovely coffee, lovely staff. They have the lovely Milklab almond milk which I haven't been able to find in Brisbane since coming from Cairns
L. B.
Great location, if you want to have a stroll through the area and grab a coffee or meal on the way, definitely pop in. I had great service, but the latte was a little weak for my liking.
D. C.
Tiny place, tucked away in an alley way which makes you think you're in Melbourne rather than Brisbane - a very pleasant discovery though with great coffee, friendly staff and some amazing eggs on smashed avocado toast.
T. O.
Best cuppa in Brisbane, friendly service. Good clean premises tucked away off the hustle n bustle.
C. A.
We ate here because of the reviews but it seemed like the staff wanted to socialize with each other and to ignore us Americans. Seriously. They were attentive to people with any other accent.
S. G.
Excellent coffee and service every time I come here. Popular spot. Plenty of tables, but they're all full at peak times.
T.
Some of the best coffee in Brisbane City. Great bean and care is always taken to make the coffee taste great :) go there almost every day.
A. L.
Nice city Cafe with great service and good coffee.
A. I.
Very friendly and fast service. Loved the avocado toast! Of course, the coffee was also delicious. Absolutely recommend.
S. I.
For the non-coffee-drinker, Strauss have an amazing chai tea blend which makes a superb spicy alternative to the usual morning drink.
J. M.
Awesome Hidden coffee shop! Great blends and food is lovely. Nice place to hide in the shade and recharge
M. J.
Good coffee, good food options for breakfast and great service. One of the great coffee joints in Brisbane CBD.
T. H.
This place was recommended by a staff member at a place near by and my taste buds enjoy every experience.
M. C.
This small shop has been consistent in serving great coffee. Hot coffee, fast and friendly service.
R. P.
Some of the best coffee in the city with a cool hole-in-the-wall location down the alley. Staff are friendly and know what they're doing.

Not open during the weekend. Closed early in the afternoon during working days too.
Good coffee but the ice dripped coffee I had was almost just a shot with many ice cubes.
R. R.
Excellent coffee. Hard to find but worth looking for.
M. A.
It had a reasonable cup if coffee with a nice lunch. Not much setting and the price is up there for the city.
N. V.

(Translated) It's a good place to be sweet for the staff and older brothers. A place that makes you feel good every time you go to work or buy coffee during lunch. The coffee is also good! But if you buy coffee beans and eat it at home, it doesn't taste like that.
(Original)

(Translated) Nice lunchroom. We ate a bagel with chicken fillet, bacon, tomato, spinach and mayo and a croissant with bacon and cheddar.
Coincidentally there was a stand-up comedian at the performance in connection with the comedy week in Brisbane. That was a nice extra.

Leuke lunchroom.
