The burgers, potato gems and fried cauliflower here are excellent and I think I have found a new favourite burger restaurant in CBR. We ordered from Uber Eats and the food remained excellent once they arrived. Yours truly @fooderarri

[originally posted 8 Dec 2018] Very fortunate to have stumbled upon this great little, brand new cafe (8 days old?), having just landed in Canberra from Melbourne this morning. The city of Melbourne prides itself on its coffee, cafe and alleyway culture. The Church is promising, and IMHO rivals the best Melbourne has to offer in terms of the quality of the coffee, food, design cues and vibes. It is perhaps no accident that this cafe is located in the dead space behind the iconic heritage Melbourne Building. The space is being cleaned up and revitalised (or as Melbourne town planners say "activated") by the ACT government for entertainment venues (Well played. Very "Melbourne" indeed!) Anyway, the long macchiato I had was intensely rich, almost savoury, with plenty of fruity tarty high notes. The "egg and bacon roll" (tastefully leveled-up and carefully assembled with bacon AND prosciutto, 2 eggs, provolone, BBQ sauce, chipotle kewpie) was excellent and satisfying. The waffle hash was less exciting, clever idea but looked a little burnt without tasting like it. A future haunt for homesick Melbournians, looking for that more intimate "human scale" alleyway hangout, away from the monumental buildings and wide roads in the middle of Canberra? 😉

Short but sweet menu, amazing coffee and overall really comfortable vibes. Likely hard to seat a large group (4+) but absolutely a good time worth having. Staff are incredibly friendly and genuine. This place deserves the crowds of people it currently attracts. Get the Vietnamese Coffee, it's an amazing take on a humble classic, the use of a cocktail shaker to thinking the brew is a unique and delicious spin.

Had an INCREDIBLE experience at church this morning. This place is amazing and I didn’t even know it existed. Went there Easter Sunday with the family for lunch. The food was divine and the staff were probably the friendliest bunch or people I’ve ever met. Couldn’t possibly recommend this place more and will be back!🔥

Whilst perusing the CBD in search of the infamous sewer tunnels of Parliament House, I ascended up a manhole, finding myself surfacing in the alleyway of the Melbourne building. After dusting off and recalibrating, I was pleasantly surprised to find a lovely new neighbourhood skate cafe, Church. After the heat underground, I was in the mood for something cool and delicious. The handsome and kind waiters-man recommended for me a 'Cold Brew', supplied via tap. After obliging, I was treated to the most refreshing supple drip of caffeine to ever touch on my tongue. During my next course, Brunch, I tried their take on an absolute Classic, the 'Bacon & Egg Roll'. In return I got a surprising mouthful of Double-P Heaven! Proscuitto AND Provolone! Topped off with their sweet, sweet house-made BBQ & chipotle sauces, it truly made for an unparalleled B'n'E experience. mmMMMMMmmm A mingardise of waffle hash brown and 'Goodberry's Legit Thick-y' was a fitting finale to an unexpected encounter with my pleasure exceeded beyond imaginable limits. This joint decked me out with threads and a feed second to none in Canberra. The food was all time and the staff absolute legends.
