A nice venue with lovely decor inside. We went at 11am on a weekday and it was pretty busy. The menu was QR code-based inside and we needed to order at the counter. Food was delivered quickly and was yummy. The only gripe I had was the price of my meal. For basic eggs Benedict with a side of spinach it $24.50. For a small iced long black (espresso + water) with a dash of milk it was $7. These prices were just a little too unreasonable, considering the size and complexity of what was ordered. Unremarkable for the price.

Great breakfast and lunch menu, with breakfast catering to both savoury and sweet palettes. Good smoothie, coffee, tea and Belgium hot chocolate options. Flavours of dishes and drinks are well balanced and delicious. Servings are sufficient and decently presented. If you're looking for huge serves at low prices, you may need to go elsewhere. There is no table service and the menu is available via QR code. Large outdoor seating area shaded by many umbrellas.There is off street parking nearby. On this occasion lively atmosphere was created using 80s music. A great place to drop in for a delicious meal or a refreshing drink and snack.

Quite a busy cafe, especially at lunch time, with a pleasant vibe. Interesting menu with vegetarian options. I was disappointed with my overpriced fish and chips. The zucchini noodle salad that one of my friends ordered looked and tasted good. My coffee was luke warm 😐 and the service variable. Sometimes it is excellent with delightful young friendly and helpful staff. It’s a popular catch up place for runners, cyclists and local workers. Between 4 and 4.5 ⭐️

We’d visited Urban Pantry before and loved it, though the menu there at the moment seems pretty generic so we opted to try their sister cafe, Double Shot, in Deakin since the menu looked more interesting and extensive. We get there early, which was lucky, for around 10:30 it got crazy busy, both for dine ins and takeaway. I loved the colourful Nourish Bowl, complete with roasted pumpkin, miso eggplant, kale, beetroot jam, cashew and cauliflower cheese, organic kimchi, house pickles sitting atop brown rice. This is a dairy free vegan dish, but I chose to add on an egg for the protein hit. The bowl was flavoursome and filling and an enjoyable brunch dish (albeit expensive at $19 + 4.50 for an egg). We also had one of their pies - crispy and buttery pastry, filled with slow cooked beef. Kurt thought it was a quality pie. Other dishes available on the current menu include spiced chai porridge, oven baked granola, eggs Benedict, smashed avo, a breakfast burger, hot cakes and toasties to name a few. Milk based coffees, espresso as well as milkshakes, thickshakes, organic tea, cold pressed juices, smoothie bar, The cafe has a homely yet busy atmosphere. It is large, with indoor and outdoor seating and a natural wood cabin style feel to it with its stacked log wall display and hanging greenery, ropes and planter boxes. Service was fast, except my three friends got their meal half an hour before me and I had to remind them. I’m also not fan of single use packaged boxes and plastic cutlery. This was implemented for Covid19 takeaway but they’re continuing to use it. I would much prefer proper plates and cutlery.

Cafe that is consistently busy due to good food and lovely space. Great outdoor area that is dog friendly but the cafe can get pretty busy on weekends so expect to wait. Food options have heaps of vegan and vegetarian options (++5 stars for that!) Lots of variation too. Love they do all day lunch and breakfast so you can get what you want. Did end up waiting 40 mins for Sunday brunch when was told 20mins, I don't mind but noticed a number of empty tables available while we waited. The staff didn't bother to quickly seat anyone on these tables which was frustrating.

Great tasting food. Breakfast burrito was interesting. Omelette with salmon yummy. They are so popular that they’ve stopped trying to be warm and polite, opting to be robotic in dealing with patrons almost like a factory. Nothing wrong or rude but could be more genuine or friendly.

Good experience, unlike some of the reviews on here. The staff seemed friendly, and when one forgot to put through an order for a coffee she owned up to the mistake straight away. The interior is funky, although a little loud, and the shakshuka was delicious. It was busy (but not overly) but I imagine there'd be quite a long wait in peak times.

Such a nice cafe with an extensive menu and so much potential! Love how there is live music outside on a Sunday!! They were amazing! However the greeter Cam who served us to our table was SO rude. A hello and smile wouldn’t hurt from someone who is meant to be front of house. It was also so busy so our food took forever to come (we waited over 45 minutes). The coffees were not very good and smoothies were flavourless - we asked for them thick but one just came out really iced and the other was thin. Don’t get the green salad, it’s really dry and bland! Overall a gorgeous space and the female servers we had were lovely. However it’s overpriced for what it is.

However, we were left leaving the place with a foul taste as the woman at the counter was so rude and pretty much throw the receipt at us... I hope the owner/staff manager sorts this out. As I didn’t think anything of people saying bad service (other locals) until that happened.... likely not to revisit. We have too many amazing places to go to in Canberra.

The food is quite good and the coffee is right up there (not counting the blowfly in the bottom of my iced latte last summer). But 90% of the time the service is sub par. Oddly, the guys, usually behind the counter, are quite friendly, but the girls generally tend to be brusque and grumpy at best. I know the response will be 'so don't come here' if you don't like it from the fans of this place. The thing is I do like it - I just wish they were friendlier, hence this review.

They work so so hard here. Each time we come they are all hustling and racing about. I completely understand why they are so busy all the time. The wait is always worth it. The food is delicious, their menu is expansive, you can bring your baby, kids, dogs or catch up with friends and family and you will be accommodated and welcomed no matter what. Decor is beautiful. There is no excuse for bad service or food in Canberra. These guys take what they do seriously but are a joy to dine at as they also are never too busy for banter and a smile. The seasonal menu will always have something delicious on it, for savoury and sweet teeth alike! Coffee is usually pretty good. Doubleshot is one of my favourite cafes, unfortunately due to Covid19 they have gone with " contactless service " what does this mean? No table srvice which is fine however they serve everything in cardboard containers which i find strange as the staff still clear the tables and handle the containers, the scrambled eggs where such a strange consistency almost rubbery. The coffee was as usual fantastic. All i can say is i hope they go back to their fantastic past standard.

If you want to feel self-conscious or inadequate and urgently want your self-esteem to take a good, hard, realistic look at itself, go to Double Shot. It’s full of beautiful people and/or the very well-heeled. Its clientele (definitely not customers) have clearly spent their morning with personal trainer and stylist to get that effortless and casual ‘I wish I lived in Sydney’s North Shore but I guess Deakin will do’ sort of look. The staff were professional if a little unengaging and while I suspect it is not referenced in the annual report or in the job descriptions there is clearly a staffing policy to employ young, attractive women. After all that though, the food was great, the atmosphere comfortable and the coffee excellent. All in all it is a nice place to waste a warm, sunny spring or summer morning.

The breakfast burger I had was fantastic as well as the coffee but one thing drops this down to a four star review. The caramel thickshake I ordered you could tell that it was made with cheapest ice cream they could get. Other thickshakes, say from Cafe Injoy, are rich and creamy but this tasted decidedly low quality. Disappointing.

Place is nice, food is OK. Our food took over 30 minutes to arrive, but to be fair it was lunchtime NYE. I'm allergic to dairy but i was told the chicken burger could be done dairy free (which it was), but then it was just chicken, red cabbage and sourdough bread with chips (I thought the aioli would still be included because aioli is generally dairy free, being eggs, oil, garlic). So I would say allergy friendly foods need to improve. The staff were very nice but probably not enough on a busy day like today.

Love a good Sunday morning breakfast. I highly rate the venue. It's one of the recent spate of modern venues that serves great, on-trend, fancy looking yummy food. We got there at 8am, the service was good and the food came out in a reasonable time. I had eggs on toast with feta, avocado and chorizo. Very nice indeed. I just wish my two eggs came with two pieces of toast instead of one. I'll be back for more.

The Covid measures taken by double shot are hard to understand. Whereas most businesses have returned to more or less normal, this cafe has discontinued table service, and is serving a simplified menu on paper plates. The experience of weekend brunch at Double Shot has certainly lost something. I will think twice before going back.

Good service and a nice selection of drinks. I believe it can get quite busy, so it can be worth making a reservation if you're planning to come. Parking is the only issue with 2 hour parking all around, so although it isn't paid parking, if you're planning to have a long lunch, keep the parking time in mind.

Had breakfast with a friend here at 8am on a Wednesday. Took 20 minutes to get someone's attention to order even a coffee. Food was very small portioned for the price. $18 for two eggs, a tiny english muffin and piece of bacon with drizzled Benedict sauce. $4 for coffee with a $2 surcharge for a mug. My friend ordered a large latte and it came in a large mug not a latte glass but no surcharge for her. We were there until 10am and again couldn't get anyone's attention to order more coffee. Food and coffee was good but nothing to rave about. I wouldn't go back given the expense and time we spent just trying to order.

If you order a burger, don't eat it with your hands. The food here is pretty good. However, to access the bathroom you need to get a key off a staff member, and walk around the side of the building. And the bathroom doesn't have hot water. This wouldn't usually bother me much. But when I had the jerk chicken burger it dripped (tasty) sauce and guacamole all over my hands. I felt a bit bad putting my greasy fingers all over the key. Next time I would be smart and use the knife and fork provided to eat my burger.

This place is so cool! The walls are made of stacked wood. Crazy? Sure. But it has to be seen to be believed. Stacked wood. Just saying'. So. The coffee. It's damn awesome. The short black..the latte. Full of flavour. Absolutely delicious. Don't forget that wood… The hot chocolate is like nothing I've ever seen either. To start with its like a babycino until you stir it and all the fresh chocolate mixes with the milk. Amazeballs. The atmosphere is relaxing with beautifully ambient music in the background and very comfy seating. You could settle in quite easily with a hot cuppa and the newspaper. Update: Second visit here, by myself this time. Took a while to get noticed standing at the Wait Here To Be Served sign, and then the staff seemed indifferent towards me once it was time to take my order. Coffee is still good though.

The staff are cool in a “humble-cool” way..... and it doesn’t have that prententious prep vibe permeating throughout most Canberra cafes at present!! (No offence intended with that- just being me!) The decor is on point, the uniforms are so cool that they have been merchandised & avail to purchase, and the music is vibin’ - it’s one of the very few cafe’s in Canberra that is not ruined by an Idiotbox that patrons are glued to ..... Honestly, it’s just an all-round super positive & atmospheric experience. Special mention goes to the raw vegan l Lime & pistachio slice. (From what I can see) a very informed & conscious decision to predominantly stock more raw vegan slices rather than sugar-filled, teeth-rotting, child-possessing goodies has a massive thumbs up and flag of support from myself & peers. Always, always a favourite - Originally from Melbourne/Sydney and made the move to Canberra about 4 years back. Happy to be living in Red Hill - just a hop, skip & jump from this Haven in Deakin.....do yourself a favour Canberrians... Doubleshot in Deakin will not disappoint.
