I tried their special menu fish taco there and yeeeeeeeees it was good xD everyone else said their dishes were good too! No wonder they are always so busy. Their coffees are also quite unique!
S. L.
Food was delicious and really nice ambience and decorations. Loved the soba noodles. However, the coffee is a bit pricey and our french toast was a bit burnt
L. W.
Spacious cafe, very modern. Coffee was okay, food was good but very expensive especially when adding extras. Some of the staff were nice and polite.
Z.
Solid healthy food and amazing atmosphre. Presentation was on point and excellent customer service. Thank you :)
M. P.
We had mocha & ice coffee for drinks. Chicken burger & prawn toast for meal. Price for all was $62. The mocha had too much bubble on frost. The prawn toast was very nice, the chicken burger did not have enough sauce for my opinion.
The cafe has open space, was fully booked when we came so it was a bit noisy sitting inside.
S.
Great coffee and amazing bircher muesli. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
A. L.
Had the pulled pork benedict, fritters, 2 x large coffees and an orange juice.
Cost: $72.50
This place is spacious and the staff are great! very informative and friendly!
The food itself looks appetizing but doesn’t live up to expectations. The fritters just don’t mash together to form one dish. The pulled pork is dry and doesn’t have much seasoning.
Overall the food is bland and uninspiring in terms of taste but to the eyes very appealing.
Probably not very good value for food but a nice place to just chill and have a coffee.

Look, it's good. It's really good. The coffees are the best, most consistent standard I've had in Canberra all round, no matter the time of day or how busy the place is. The bench seat cushions and whatnot could do with a deep clean (after what must be many a happy customer on those seats) but otherwise - outstanding.
A. B. (.
Great coffee, great breakfast menu
T. V. (.
Excellent place for breakfast, brunch and lunch. It's the place to be in Dickson really. If been here a number of times and loved it each time. Always busy so recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Yours truly @fooderarri
H. Y.
We selected this place after carefully checking several articles of recommended brunch spots in Canberra.
Really satisfied with the foods!
We ordered
. Waffle + Chicken - unique combination of kimchi, eggs, chicken, and some other ingredients. Taste unique and great!
. Mushroom - good combination of mushrooms with a toast!
Great food and great service.
There's a 2% surcharge of AMEX.
Coffee by Ona.
Must try if you are visiting Canberra!

Highroad is a very good destination in canberra for one of the best Coffees and also excellent foods. Have been there already many times and its always a pleasure. The breakfast ist just awesome and everyone will find his favourite dish for sure!!
I.
Settings & Service: aesthetically pleasing seating areas inside and out. A very chilled vibe atmosphere. Super helpful and kind staff.
Wait times for a table may vary, depending on the days, so the weekends you’d expect a 15-20 minute wait.
$$: decently priced with coffee menu that has a lot of variety.
(They do SPLIT BILLS)
Meals: coffees on point, the veggie bowl was very filling and generous serving of avocado for the sourdough.
M. D.
Really delicious food and nice staff. Definitely would go back!! They had so many nice options on the menu wish I could have tried them all before they change their seasonal menus!!! Highly recommend!
A.
This cafe has a very nice interior design, and is spacious and family friendly. I was impressed with their special selection of coffee beans, we tried the raspberry candy coffee and it was very special. The food was also amazing, with a reasonable price tag on it.
S. V.
Very nice cafe in Dickson. Good coffee, several vegan options, we tried the summer bowl and the eggplant focaccia, everything was delicious. Great service and friendly staff.
A. W.
Tasty bacon and egg roll. Pialligo bacon and pickles were a nice touch. Good coffee with a range of beans to choose from. Coffee temperature could have a little more heat, especially in winter. Staff are friendly and efficient. Lovely open and relaxed vibe. The eggs Benedict/Reuben combo with homemade corned beef is stunning and worth a visit just for that alone.
S. P.
Highroad's coffee is an absolute stand out and brilliant. I can't recommend it more highly. We had a tasty lunch of the Benedict and Brisket Burger. The chips were great and the meat tender. We'll definately to back again. The staff are also friendly and polite
A. S.
I've had many great experiences here, today was a little bit disappointing. I'm sure I'll change my review after things have gone back to normal.
My coffee was fantastic, we also bought two bacon egg rolls which were $16 each.
They were both small, pre-made, and both served cold. $16 for a bacon egg roll is an anomaly as it is - the fact that they were small and cold made them incredibly off-putting and we couldn't bring ourselves to finish them.
I'm sorry to say but this was an unfortunate waste of money :(
S.
Great cafe. wonderfully rich coffee culture. Food is always consistent and they were happy to edit the dish to accommodate no meat.
Staff are lovely and attentive without being overbearing.
Will continue coming back.
N. u.
I had a beautiful breakfast. There is plenty of seat, recommend for group and family too. They do kids meal. Nice vibe with the music and friendly staff. Absolutely will be back again.
R. K.
Very cool aesthetics, beautiful open area with lots of room and light. Super friendly staff, excellent baristas! One of the top three places for coffee in Canberra. I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Butter Bing.
K. T.
Coffee is amazing, although a bit complicated to order. Had the eggs benedict with salmon. Cucumber was strongly pickled and salmon has a nice flavour. Hollandaise was creamy and tangy. Also had the beef burger. The sauce was tasty and the chips were crispy. Even though it was busy, the food came out very quickly. Would definitely come back next time we’re in Canberra.
L. L.
I went there...about two weeks ago. There were a lot of people, so I waited a long time, but It was worth to wait. The coffee was fantastic and the carrot cake.... wow. It was sooooo delicious. I still remember that taste.
G. R.
Great Dickson coffee spot, with decent food. Staff are helpful. Outdoor tables are delightful, and plenty of indoor tables as well. We tried the savary waffles, and the fruit toast.
L. G. (.
Came for dinner with some friends. Overall a good experience but a few improvements could be made.
The good:
The food was amazing. We came on Thursday and had the fried chicken, would recommend!
(Once you get a hold of them) the wait staff were friendly.
The not so good:
We hadn't booked and there was only 1 table left, not reserved. We were there for 2 hours and most of the tables never came.
In addition, I asked for a coke Zero, I was told flat out they don't serve sugar free drinks.
Thirdly, the wait staff seem to be a bit sparse when you want to order something.
K. A.
Obsessed with this place. Always recommend it to friends as the food is great, coffee is delicious and the interior is to die for. Updated menus every season means I'll always be coming back! Loooove highroad and their beautiful ona coffee 😍
D. B.
Awesome coffee, however I find it a bit expensive. Food options are okay but not my favourite. Place is ridiculously busy and I'm not sure if they take bookings which is a bit annoying, so be prepared to wait for a table. Service was decent.
A. O.
My family had the pleasure of dining here last night. From the minute we walked in to the minute we rolled out our experience was top shelf.
We took a risk and requested the Feed Me option on the menu. It didn't disappoint. From olives infused with house coffee, beef doughnuts served with sour cream and chilli, salt and vinegar sweet potato crisps with parmesan, bechamel cauliflower and burrata with heirloom tomatoes through to the piece de resistance - the OMG Pork Knuckle - we found the meal delicious.
Despite an issue with a liquor supplier, we enjoyed a NSW Franks Strong Hard Lemonade and the ACT's Capital Brewery's First Tracks Stout. Throughout the meal, our complimentary sparkling table water served in a classy ceramic carafe was always kept topped up (as were we by the end of night).
Already planning our next trip from Sydney. It will definitely include a meal at Highroad.
Thank you for a great night with attentive and friendly service.
S. F.
Sadly only came for a coffee but would have loved to stay for food. The coffee is beautiful as expected from ONA cafes. They only do two styles of coffee - milk or no milk, under the premise that the coffee beans should speak for themselves. Also that you can compare their blends on an even playing field. Whilst it seems strange, the baristas certainly know what they are doing and deserve your trust. The interior is gorgeous and relaxing.
C. R.
Food is really good here but service can be slow even for Canberra. The worst experience is getting take away coffees between 10 and 2.
S. G.
Best coffee in Canberra! We all know that but now no need to race to Fyshwick or Civic, Ona has landed in Dickson. Easy to find plenty of parking and a great open, friendly and welcoming space. Lauren Who greets you at the front and guides you to the table. The professional and clever baristas George, Sam and Hanny make this a special place. Compliments to the team, the service is consistent as is the quality of food and coffee! So thrilled that you are now coming to Sydney! Go Ona team!
J. F.
Such a stunning cafe. The detailing that has gone into the construction of this place is inspiring, and the service also lives up to what you'd expect. The coffee was also quite enjoyable, with a good range of blends and single origin coffees. A must visit if you are in the area.
K. M.
Ok, I so wanna love this place, the food, the people, service, space is all amazing; HOWEVER, today I went to order a SMALL decaf long black (breastfeeding mamma) and they charged me $6.09!!!! I thought it must have been a mistake, to which she clarified it’s $5 for a small coffee (!!!) plus $1 for decaf + eftpos surcharge. I felt sooo ripped off, I asked for a refund. Max I’ve ever been charged for a decaf LB is $4.50. Come on guys, that price is so inflated it’s not even funny.
B. M.
Came for a coffee with a friend... I have been here a few times and have been impressed. They do a great coffee here (please note they do not do almond milk) - with a few blends available. Then there is the food. The presentation is amazing and did tastes great. I don't eat this time, but have in the past. As such I can't comment on the food options. Check this place out!
B. D.
Amazing high end cafe and bar. Professional service, fantastic food and delicious coffee.
The renovation has made excellent use of the space. Large windows provide comforting natural light, the dining area is immaculate and comfortable. This attention to detail has been put into the menu. Plates are beautifully presented and the flavours well balanced. I enjoyed the French toast, which was satisfying and tasty. The mascarpone was a nice touch and the dish wasn't overly sweet.
D.
Absolutely amazing place highly recommend it especially they were very friendly amazing stuff great price if you’re stopping by or coffee Guru then you definitely need to check out this place
L. B.
We enjoyed a beautiful weekend breakfast here, overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The menu had some delicious sounding options so it was hard to choose what to order, but went with waffles and avo toast - both excellent. Coffee was perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful. Some heating would have been nice for the outdoor tables. It is busy so be prepared to wait for a table!
P.
Outstanding service! Fantastic food and coffee. My wife ordered from the gluten free menu but we didn't make it clear when ordering that it was GF. The order came out on normal bread but the staff were so good, they had the breakfast re made, not just scooped on to GF bread. 10 stars high road!!
A. Y.
Awesome service. Great minimalist decor. Food was 10/10, we had breakfast; the kimchi pancake and the salmon dish. Coffee was a new take on a milky coffee, great to try something different. All together a fabulous experience. Definitely recommend.
S. S.
Great spot for breakfast or brunch. Feels like Ona Coffee have a monopoly in Canberra 🙊
J. M.
Excellent coffee, sensational fitout, and a great breakfast menu. I loved the flavours in the sausage and egg roll: lightly pickled cucumber, egg, cheese, coriander yoghurt, spicy sausage. Unfortunately the sausage patty had large pieces of gristle and 3 pieces of bone that made it hard to eat. Suggest that you refine what you're putting into your mincer.
B. D.
Great place for breakfast and always a table available in the new renovation. Definitely recommend the Benedict - a pastrami and cheese toastie topped with perfect poached eggs and radishes and pickles.
Coffee is also top notch using ona beans and service is nice and attentive.
G. S.
A beautiful cafe but not like the ordinary, you pick the coffee beans you want rather than the milk style of coffee ( flat whites, latte, etc ) which is lovely and different. The food is beautiful and uses a mix of interesting ingredients.
J. B.
High Road is an airy, interesting and fun cafe in Dickson. The coffee is excellent, and explicitly allows you to choose different beans rather than different kinds of coffee. The food is adventurous but still very satisfying. The pancakes are particularly good.
K. K.
The food is nice but pricey. A coffee puts you down $7-$9 (four shot flat white).
R. N.
The service was quick and very friendly. It’s a really nice spot to go to have breakfast or brunch with friends.
J. T.
Good coffee and friendly service, but go somewhere else if you're time poor. Almost as slow and The Knox
B. B.
Service is excellent despite being very busy was seated quickly and the order made. Food was delicious and the coffee is excellent. Didn't have to wait long for the coffee and meal to arrive at the table.
J. H.
The service is super nice and the coffee is great on the plus side. The food is decent but serving sizes feel a bit small. The big detractor from though is the acoustics, between all the hard surfaces and the background music it can be hard to hear people you are sitting with with detracts from the experience. Outside tables are better but there are only a couple of these.
L. W.
Delicious! My new favourite place prawn and sesame seed toast with eggs Benedict was absolutely brilliant. The coffee is always incredible!
A. C.
This place seems to be an extremely popular spot for brunch. We had to wait 35 minutes for a table but so glad we did as the coffee and food were worth the wait 😍
C. T.
Love the vibes of this cafe, cozy and amble space for the food and drinks. Coffee is top notch.
S. T.
This place has got an amazing atmosphere. The coffee here is amazing and served the way it should be. The food is exceptional and above the usual cafe food. It is a place you can hang out and people watch. But also enjoy an amazing meal with a good group of people.
G. J.
The new lovely addition to our routine Canberra visits! Amazing food as always from this chain and friendly staff and as usual the coffee we love !
j. l.
Place is awesome and food was delicious! They also make good coffee so if you're headed that side of town, defs recommend this.
N. C.
Coffee was great. The menu was varied and the burger I ordered was good. Service was quick and the staff were friendly and helpful especially in the middle of the mask mandate.
j. j.
absolutely the best of the best all over canberra.... super friendly stuffs with a unique coffee.
A. K.
Nice casual place to relax and have a bite to eat. Recommend coming here for a coffee during the morning or afternoon.
S. a. M. O.
Took our kids here while visiting from Sydney. Awesome experience. Our kids are still talking about the pork knuckle - a new food venture for them. Heading down again in July and hoping to grab a table here again. Highly recommended.
A. C.
Really great coffee, pleasant service, very yummy Bircher muesli. And my guest's choices of French toast and chicken burgers also delicious. Very good chips too.
D. Z.
Very nice Cafe with speciality coffe and homemade cakes. Super-friendly and obliging staff. Not cheap but I definitely pays off to visit!
C. S.
Real nice place and ONA coffee too. Trouble was coffee order was lost. Meals came out seperate and far apart. Very busy which is definitely understandable but I'd rather not finish my breakfast before my friends arrives!
V. L.
Nice brunch! Never get disappointed. The soy flat white was not so good as expected.
Z. S.
Food is always 10/10. The crepes were next level, compliments to the chef. 🤌🏼
D. C.
Delicious chicken burger, chips were warm though. Long black was delicious too.
J. S.
Perfect coffee, great service and spot on food.
S. M.
Great atmosphere to get work done, trouble is coffee tasted burnt or overpacked and the oat and chocolate muffin tasted like a trail mix. The latte art was delightful, if only the coffee followed suit...
S. H.
Friendly staffs! They all wear cool outfits, good inspirations as well! I loved their french toast! It was the best
G. W.
The food was amazing and so was the coffee, as ona coffee always is :)
W. Y.
Spacious cafe with many healthy options. They serve ONA coffee too!
A. K.
This is the third venue with Ona coffee after the Cupping room and Ona on the Lawns we visited. Another 5star place with great coffee options. Service is friendly and food is beautiful and delicious.
N. L.
Amazing coffee with wonderful warm service
Food was great
H. S.
Very impressed with the food here, atmosphere and the service here!
Would love to come back.
C. C.
Friendly staff, good vibe, amazing coffee with perfect soy milk temperature. These guys know what they are doing.
M. C.
The coffee here is incredible!
Tried the French toast and boy that was a good surprise. Bit of a wait to get in these days due to COVID restrictions. But it was worth it.
Lovely staff and great atmosphere.
J. T.
Great food, excellent coffee and fast service!
E. K.
Only got coffee here--coffee menu is different than normal and tasted OK. Customer service was great though:)
M. T.
Definitely in my top 3 cafes in Canberra. Delicious coffee and brunch. Staff always friendly. Highly recommended.
B.
DELICIOUS! The only word that could describe everything my partner and I ate and drank.
The slow cooked beef cheeks I ordered were brilliant and beautifully executed for being a new item on the menu from what the staff were saying.
Great atmosphere and friendly service.
Can't wait to try this place again. Highly recommended :)
m. o.
Come for the coffee. Stay for the vibe. (Food and other drinks are also pretty solid) happy Halloween.
C. D.
Great coffee and food. Very friendly service and nice vibe.
S. B.
Great coffee and food here, like the Raspberry Candy Ona beans which I buy for use at home as well. I recommend the Chicken Burger as well.
R. e.
Great tasting coffee and very swanky interior design, however the coffee orders you, you don't order the coffee.
H. L.
Lovely warm, cosy atmosphere yet bright and open. Very popular, with a nice crowd.
L. A.
Amazing spot, I visited with my housemate who explained that the coffee is award winning, and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, drinks excellent, and the staff went above and beyond in serving, and were super friendly. Definitely recommend.
A. M.
Excellent food and coffee. The corn fritters were absolutely delicious - flavoursome, crisp and gooey texture, and the presentation was gorgeous. My friends food looked great too. Coffee was bang on, service was fast and friendly. We all agreed we'd return in a heartbeat.
D. a. L. L.
Beautiful building, excellent table service and coffee exceptional
B. P.
I hosted my daughters 21st at high road a few weeks ago, I highly recommend doing a function with them the food and service was really great and Dan the manager couldn’t do enough to help us with any requests. Great atmosphere as well !! 😊
C. B.
I haven't enjoyed the taste of the coffee here as yet and have been 4 times! The service was quite pretentious aswell except when i was with ''cool looking friends'' lol. Food okay. Atmosphere, a bit too trendy/trying too hard. Its one of the most popular cafes in Dickson though, so give it a chance as it may be your favourite too. :)
M. W.
The best and the worst!
Fantastic friendly service. Best in Canberra. Great atmosphere. Here's the funny thing, until recently I had not realised just how bad a coffee can taste. Their coffee can be fantastic but if the wrong person is on the machine it is the worst coffee I have ever experienced. Yesterday I literally had to go home and rinse my mouth afterwards. Now when I go in there the first thing I do is check who is making coffee and then I decide if I'll order a coffee or not. To be clear it is just one person who manages to make the coffee taste like an ashtray. The others are all brilliant. Besides that little peculiarity it is the best cafe in Canberra
For the price I'm expecting more. It's not a cheap place to eat
G. R.
Seriously, how good is this place? Coffee is off the charts and the seasonal menus give a different spin each time to their salmon dishes which are totally addictive. To top it all off, the attitude of the staff is top notch - friendly and welcoming and utterly unpretentious. So refreshing. So glad we don't live closer - for the sake of our bank account!
E. F.
Really good food (amazing vegan options too) at a reasonable price. Loved the home made sauces and artisan breads. The eggplant dish was spectacular.
The restaurant has a great design and funky features in the space.
There was a mix up with our food, the waitress dealt with it excellently and we walked away with satisfied bellies and feeling very happy with the customer service. We also really liked the free sparkling water along side the meal. We'll definitely revisit!
C. S. (. J.
Honestly. They do my favourite coffee in all of Canberra. I've never had a bad meal here and the space is light and breezy. My only real complaint is that the service and atmosphere can be a real crapshoot. On a good day, you can hold a conversation, take your time, really enjoy yourself. On a bad day the music is a little too loud to hear yourself think, everything feels like it's turning up late, and you feel rushed out the door.
It is a great place. Worth your time and money. Just have a backup plan in case things look real busy.
F. L.
Good coffee and good different food!
I. M.
Wonderful venue. Fantastic friendly service and great quality. Clearly a lot of thought and investment has gone in to it. Great staff and selection of foods and drinks. Sadly loses one star for the acoustics however, as the hard floors and windows reflect sound making it nearly unbearable. Five stars when fixed with sound dampening.
K. G.
Great coffee & food but staff need training. Mid week visit perfect but Sunday brunch definitely was not. In one visit we had four staff issues. (Management take notice). 1. Our table booking was bumped. 2. Staff tried to deliver coffees to our table incorrectly 3. Soy coffee was delivered as regular coffee & had to be remade 4. We were charged for the soy coffee (staff error ) & bill was amended. Great cafe . Do not want it to fail
G. W.
We had brunch at your cafe in our Christmas break twice. The service was so friendly, all the staff looked so happy, nothing was too much trouble. We are from Melbourne and the food and coffee was up there with the very best.
G.
How have I not written a review yet! Honestly my favourite brunch place in Canberra, and extremely popular among Canberrans. The food is always wonderfully delicious and fresh, and the atmosphere is top notch. The menu is seasonal so there's always something different to try. Vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options are marked on their menus for convenience. However, the staff are generally very good at switching things around to cater for you, or letting you piece together your own meal. They also have weekend specials which are constantly changing and always yum.
My only complaints would be 1) the weird build-up of flies in the raised area that seems to happen every now and then, and 2) the service can be hit or miss. Both are off-putting (especially when they get dietary requirements wrong, or forget about me), but unfortunately (fortunately?) the food is so good I can't stop myself from coming back. That said, management could definitely be improved.
P. C.
Staff and menu were excellent. Had a burger, no complaints. Booths and tables are of both high quality and curation not often seen in a cafe'.
Sound attenuation needs to be worked on to align with higher end establishments. Vocal noise quickly drowns the space, which means clients need to lean in to talk with each other.
Priced very nicely, about $25 for lunch and coffee.
D. M.
I have mixed feelings about this place - I have had the best coffee I've ever been served (anywhere) here, but I've also been completely underwhelmed with the food. Maybe it's because I've only visited midweek, but the taste of my meals hasn't lived up to the quality that the menu and fitout imply. I'm keen to give them more chances, and try other things on the menu, mainly in the hope that they'll recreate *that* cup of coffee.
M. H.
Am not going back. The coffee wasn't good and the menu wasn't appealing. The music was way too loud I could barley hear my partner and I talking. It was a 20 minute wait for a table, my partner and I were waiting for 10 minutes and this one couple came in originally wanting take away coffees then decided they wanted food so they got to sit down at a table straight away. While waiting to order there was about a 20 minute wait to even get our waitress back for us to order food which we didn't since we were running out of time. Very disappointed
N. H.
Me and boyfriend visited the place on a Tuesday - lunch time. It was not that crowded, but they only had few staff walking around. We waited for about 10 min to be saved. eventually, spoke to a girl and she said someone will be with you shortly as she only looks after the bar section. After awhile, a staff assisted us with our orders. We ordered a crunchy nut shake, salmon dish and sausage and egg roll. The food was fantastic. Very delicious. They need more staff to provide a better service.
F.
Gorgeous coffee and food. They only offer coffee in one type (flat white) and you choose your bean, some may find this pretentious but I like it. Salmon brunch dish is incredible, and fritters looked insane. Would return regularly if I lived there
E. S.
I have eaten lunch and dinner at Highroad and they have served outstanding and delicious food. The quantity of the food is good, and the service is wonderful, with staff service being quick and friendly. The atmosphere of the place is also a delight. It is open and spacious, which avoids that overcrowded feel that you get in a lot of places. I’d also recommend trying their smoothies which are delicious!! The crunchy nut was great :)
J. S.
Ok --nice and knowledgeable staff, but the coffee situation was a bit pretentious. Mine wasn't hot enough, and didn't taste much better or different from coffee that costs 3.5 instead of 5.5.
n. p.
We have had breakfast from here quite a few times and its been great every single time.
Awesome food and coffee! Highly recommended!
P. H. M.
Great coffee. Lovely mango muffins
C. R.
If I could give 10 stars I would! Highroad is amazing. Great coffee and a delicious almond milk coffee! Food is interesting and delicious, the fritters are super tasty! Beautiful calm and simple space. But the best part of Highroad are the super friendly and welcoming staff, especially Lauren, Sam, Sianne & Peter!
L. O.
I love this place! But I always go with my vegan friend and it's sad because the only dish she can order without complicated menu tweaks is chia pudding or the veggie bowl. More vegan options would be great!
J. O.
Delicious and staff are awesome! Coffee consistently excellent.
P. S.
This a is a great cafe for working from. Powerpoints at the middle hub, a few hidden at some of the tables. Good coffee and yummy, but higher priced menu.
J. F.
I love Highroad, it's the best! I've only ever had good dishes here, and good coffee too of course. My mum visited from Perth and she liked it so much we went again. Only problem is that you can't make a reservation but honestly I don't mind waiting for good food and service.
J. D.
Great cafe/restaurant. Nice decor and lots of space with natural light. Good selection of coffee, and all the food coming past looked amazing. Will have to go back to eat some time. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
D. H.
Good food, lots of space, great service. Really a lovely cafe at any time of day, but I do want to note that the noise levels are too high any time the cafe is more than half full. The flat concrete or timber surfaces could do with some rugs or baffles to reduce the ambient volume.
R. A.
The coffee was good and despite what others said, I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The menu is perplexing with a list of ingredients, such as berry textures, rather than describing the dish. The worst thing is the loud very annoying music. Prices seem a bit high especially if you add sides to your order (side of Pialligo bacon costs $6). Maybe if they could turn the music down it might be a great addition to Dickson coffee places.
M. G.
One of the best meals I've had at a restaurant in recent years! The service is incredible and I'm yet to try a dish that isn't absolutely delicious. The bar snacks, particularly the kipfler chips and puffed pork are amazing, and the lamb belly might just be my new favourite lamb dish in Canberra. The main shared plates and desserts are great too, but the highlight of Highroad is the cocktails. They're totally delicious and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer night. It can be a bit noisy, but it's worth it for the amazing food, drinks and incredibly high standard of service.
S. M.
Great relaxing place that offers hand-made coffee and local craft brews. The service is friendly and very knowledgeable. Unique setting with reasonable pricing. You can even find some chocolate to snack on here. You will like this setting if you are looking for a calm relaxing time.
J. L.
Nice vibe, good atmosphere, nice drinks. Haven't tried the food but I was being told that the cupping room and highroad are from the same owner or something along those lines. Will come back to try more things on the menu.

3 milk coffees available. Tried the first 2 on the menu. Strong then a medium and tasty. Both v nice. Highly recommended.
Y. E.
We are huge fans of the Cupping Room, and this place opened by the same owners will not disappoint. If you like modern thoughtful food, with lots of choice, but also a consistency of pallet you should totally come here. They even have vegan options, however a more extensive vegan menu for dinner would be good - where the options are more than just toast and smaller sides. Good hearty vegan meals that are protein packed and still cooked with the High Road style would just be amazing.
A. L.
Nice location, friendly staff but was disappointed by the coffee. It was not the usual standard of Ona coffee. Tasted weak like a single shot for a mug flat white.
b. o.
One of the best coffees I’ve had and the cafe itself is sleek, but cozy to hang out in. Too bad I was in a hurry to get my coffee and go somewhere, but I will definitely go back there to try their brekky and just enjoy sipping my coffee while relaxing.
S. H. (.
Excellent breakfast and beautiful coffee.
A. J.
Staff were super friendly. Even though they were super busy they managed to squeeze us in for Sunday breakfast. Their coffee selection is amazing do is there food.
K.
Ona’s foray into the restaurant scene. Great space with a really good menu and of course the coffee is excellent. I've been here a couple of times now and the staff are friendly and attentive.
Would definitely recommend Highroad for either a quiet dinner for two or to get together as a group.
S. M. W. (.
There are delicious dishes and very good coffee! Have a spacious and comfortable space! The most important thing is the dedicated service of the service staff! Best Satisfaction Restaurant by far
M. M.
Great food and excellent coffee. Know, though, that they serve their white coffees like a flat white, and don't give you any choice. They do offer several blends for you to choose from tho. The coffees are great, so don't let this dissuade you.
G. F.
I am massive in two things, service and coffee!
And thank you Highroad! I am super impressed and happy to spend my money here.
I am a Canberran, moved interstate and back briefly for a visit. My 3 girlfriends and I choose last minute on a Sunday morning to go to Highroad for coffee and brunch. Even though the cafe was clearly very busy, all of the staff were bubbly, smiling, and engaging. We waited 15-20 minutes but having a designated waiting area and an organised wait list, we were more than happy to wait.
Service was prompt, our male waiter was professional, engaging and informed. And happily, without judgement asked the chefs about a dietary requirement.
The food was art and extremely tasteful.
And the coffee is hands down the best I’ve had in Canberra.
And the pink-themed dress code on the staff was a good way to incorporate fun and atmosphere.
Very impressed and I’ll be having coffee and breakfast again before I leave And recommending to all my fellow coffee craving lovers.
10:10 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
L. P.
Great ambience, happy tunes, super friendly staff, and good alcohol selection to enjoy a knock-off beverage. We were lured in by a poster advertising for $5 Friday happy hour schooners but were disappointed that this special did not apply to any of the beers on tap 🤔. I'm not sure if the sign is old and the special doesn't exist anymore but we pretty much arrived early for the cheap drinks, enjoyed ourselves thinking we were drinking said cheap drinks and then were pretty surprised when the bill came. So come in for a nice meal, coffee or beverage but don't be expecting a bargain. Will still return but please take down your posters!
C. G.
Very tasty meals on the menu! Gluten free and dairy free options. Very family and pram friendly. Great change room facilities. Really friendly service and GREAT coffee!!
S. S.
I really do love this place. I often thought of it as a breakfast venue (amazing breakky) but decided to come for dinner tonight. The food was amazing. Tasty, different and good value. Just what Dickson needs. Would shout this place's praise from the rooftops.
R. B.
Great coffee and service. A little noisy due to hard surfaces but some people like that kind of atmosphere I guess. Food is good, not a huge menu but tasty.
S.
Love the rainbow bowl ~
A. A.
Great experience every time. Good food and good coffee, but more importantly they have some of the friendliest staff of any cafe in Canberra.
d.
Up market cafe. Very nice food and coffee. My daughter a local resident walks past quite a few cafes to use this place.
A. C.
Always good. Interesting menu that changes seasonally. Here or there they will have a tap take over. The fit out is nice and the both seating is comfortable and unique.
Coffee by the ever realiable ONA.
T. A. J. S.
Basically run by the same people as the cupping room, which almost speaks for itself. Damn tasty burger and that coffee bro (there's a selection! Founder being my favorite.) Very friendly staff, the place has a very interesting vibe too. It's clean and light, part classic, part modern with a touch of unrefined charm. They're on the pricey side, though you mostly get what you pay for. I know I'll be coming back :).
L. S.
Pretty fair with a good staff...except the background music was badly balanced so all that could be heard was a repetitious bass. Requests to change fell on deaf ears. We walked out before ordering. It's the details that count. Second try: can't quite sync with this obviously popular venue. Coffee was sharp and not to my liking, the food, though well presented, was the same. Once again the loudness drove us out.
P. C.
Sticky date french toast OMG so good. Coffee always great and we had two children under 2 and they had highchairs available for us with no waiting time at 10am on a saturday. ONA coffee is the best and kids menu equally great.
D. A.
First visit and i got my fav, eggs benny and wow, so good, THICK pialligo bacon and that burnt butter hollandaise, very nice! And free cupcakes at the end of the day so they don't get thrown out, highly recommend this place!
T. A.
It was a really nice brunch spot - the tables are really spread out so it doesn't feel crowded. I got a sausage and egg roll which was really delish and only $15. The only negative was the watermelon, basil and lime juice was quite small and bland for $7! They also sell Butterbings.
R. O.
Nice interesting food. Great decor. Excellent coffee although the coffee prices are a bit of a joke.
s. p.
Had the "feed me" on a large table. Fantastic taster's of most of the menu. Generous amount of total food. Too much for the table to eat.
Loved the lighting, not too bright, very atmospheric.
D. L.
Excellent cafe with top knotch coffee, delicious food and great service. Focus on quality coffee is very nice
D. L.
Very good setting in Dickson. Great, tasty and filling food. The kingfish tasted very smoky and delicious!
P. M.
A fresh and vibrant use of the old Suburban building, in what is now a cool and delicious place to meet up or go it alone with your laptop/tablet. Coffee is excellent, food is sublime and cater from early morning to late night. If you are looking for the right way, take the Highroad.
A. T.
Best coffee and verey good service friendly staff delicious breakfast 🌹⛵
A. L.
Beautiful space, amazing coffee as with all Ona branches and tasty food - ticks all the boxes! Be aware of slightly smaller portion sizes, but the quality is there.
M. L.
Amazing food! The waffle with chicken was delicious!!! Coffee range was broad and tasty. 10/10 would recommend
K. O.
What a find! We were up from Sydney overnight and found this place by accident whilst looking for another place - such excellent luck. We loved the crowd which ranged from funky young families to local older ladies in thongs and house dresses. No Sydney social pretension here despite a slick and spacious fitout -all blonde wood booths, high ceilings, exposed concrete columns with subtle ceramics and gum leaves. The food and coffee was so good we were quite indulgent. It was all delicious and promptly delivered by warm, cute and friendly staff. Canberra is weird but this place made me wish I was a local. Definitely eat here.
D. P.
TL;DR great coffee and food, excellent for brunch
Located just next to Dickson interchange, Highroad is a fantastic addition to the row of restaurants in Dickson shops area. It also keeps the high-quality standard expected from an ONA restaurant. However, unlike other ONA restaurants, they offer alcohol and open until late for dinner (Wednesday-Saturday). Their coffee use ONA coffee beans, which are familiar to most Canberran coffee lovers. They also have a diverse selection of tea and wine. Went there for brunch yesterday, and the food is excellent. The day menu is contemporary and creative, comparable to Cupping Room's (another ONA restaurant). I haven't tried the dinner menu yet, but I expect the same standard.
J. L.
By far the best cafe in dickson, food is fantastic and always changing, coffee is well made and includes options such as pour over, staff are polite. Highly recommend.
J. G.
Nice atmosphere, but crowded so needed to wait before being seated. Also avoid Sundays because of the (outdated) Sunday surcharge system. Food was alright - good but not great. Coffee is very nice though.
S. K.
Well, what can I say. The atmosphere is so modern and comfortable, we had the dark hot chocolates - really smooth and enjoyable! Will come back
D. T.
coffee and food are great. however the general vibe of the joint is a bit pretentious for me.
J. M.
Great food, great coffee, great service, great atmosphere. Dickson had been needing a high quality cafe like this for a while. Can't wait to try there dinner menue.
J. W.
Just want to say a huge thank you to all the girls who worked during my work christmas party on 30/11. Lauren and the others were so helpful and did everything they could to make sure the event was perfect and went out of their way to assist me with my requests. Food was beautiful and the location is awesome, particularly with that afternoon sun shining in. Super happy with the whole thing! Thank you!!
T. L.
Finally good coffee and food in Dickson. Great place for brekkie and lunch and to have a meeting or do some work. Warm and welcoming with really friendly staff. Also, great tea and chai.
P. S.
Wow. Great coffee. Great food. Great everything. This was my first ever visit. Why did I leave it so late?
A. S.
Had to wait for a while as its very busy on the weekends. But it was worth it. Also if you are into butterbings, this will be heaven for you with a largest variety of flavours I have seen in Canberra.
1. 1.
Great atmosphere and set up, judging by the huge amount of people that fill up a pretty large area it seems that everyone else seems to agree that this spot is terrific. Certainly what Dickson needed, filling a gap in the cafe culture of the area. Will continue to return.
C. M.
Another great Ona restaurant in Canberra. Offers usual great breakfast/lunch and coffee but adds dinner Wednesday to Sunday. Great atomsphere and cool environment. Friendly service
E. D.
Had the bacon and egg roll twice here, always tasty and the egg is done well
M. D.
Great café. Food was good. Price is a little higher than normal cafés, but worth it. That fruit toast with maple ricotta is amazing.
C. E.
Food, setting and service were fantastic. . . Found the noise level a little too loud .. . hard to have a conversation at the table but it was prime time for brunch so very busy ... will definitely go again.
O. W.
Was surprised when I received my tasty food! I really enjoyed their food! But also seems really fancy which isn't really me but great food and beverages.
J. C.
Came here for brunch what a surprise. Food was service were great. Coffee was excellent. Added to my place of favourites
T. M.
Great service with very helpful staff. I advise everyone to try the Celtic red
C. H. (.
Great food, fantastic coffee and lovely open space to enjoy a brunch! What more do you want?
L. 2.
Great place to catchup with friends. Was very busy for coffee and brunch/lunch. Also have some unusual milkshakes worth checking out
S. K.
Amazing food and atmosphere and all the staff are so polite, friendly and attentive. Great place
I. J.
Excellent coffee and friendly atmosphere. Absolutely worth dropping by on your way in or out of Canberra.
K. M.
All of them staff that I have met so far here are incredibly lovely and kind. I’m always greeted warmly and feel very welcome. I enjoy coming here with my friends after school to study or just chill/hang out. Thankyou high road ❤️
J. A. B.
Great food. But as is the norm these days, noisy. The coffee is excellent - not the usual at all.
K. V.
Best cafe in Canberra. Varied an ever changing menu of very high quality food, and amazing coffee.
E.
Excellent service, great food and coffee.
A. C.
I like the food but the sous chef is what I like the best. It's the way he makes a mean fish burger. Wouldn't normally go fish but this is pretty good.
D. P.
Bright and spacious cafe, great service, interesting coffee blends and tasty muffins
B. B.
Energetic, friendly and helpful staff; great food that is different to the same old, same old that is often served up around Canberra; and a light airy atmosphere. Will be back :-)
M.
Superb interior design creates an open, airy feel; beautifully complimented by friendly, attentive staff; exquisite coffee and creative, healthy, tasty food. Ticks all the boxes ✔
k. b.
Good food and excellent coffee. The toast to scramble egg ratio is on point. Always accommodating with the young bub.
S.
The staff here are super-friendly and the food and coffee is super-good! Best scrambled eggs I've ever tasted!
B. H.
Quality food and coffee here. Super trendy and great vibes. One of the best place for a coffee or drink in Canberra.
L. B.
Great place but have limited variety of milk options so unable to taste coffee which was a shame
M. P.
Great food friendly staff
Amazing coffee
N. S.
Great staff with fantastic knowledge of their coffee products, some menu items are a miss but overall it's all amazing
D. M.
Nice atmosphere with friendly staff and decent coffee. Have yet to try the food but the brookies looked delicious!!
P. J.
I had been to High Road previously and was very disappointed. Well not this time it was of a very high standard the eggs Benedict was the best I have ever eaten.
S.
My experience here has been hit and miss. The food can vary depending on the day- it was so-so. Bit overpriced for what you get. The service is excellent and staff very welcoming.
R. H.
Nice food at a reasonable price. Service is good too. Sometimes the menu can have some odd combinations.
L. T.
Amazing food and coffee. I was initially disappointed that they had run out of beef cheek for my eggs benedict, but the salmon was delicious!
S. J.
The food wasn't as good as I expected. But nice decor and service. Honourable mention to the milkshakes though. They were brilliant.
D. M.
It was ok, but when I order a coffee I just want to be given what I ask for. A cappuccino. I did not receive a cappuccino it was a flat white.
B. A.
Friendly staff but the selection of food wasn't great and the pastry selection was limited. The venue was very noisy.
최.
Great food and coffee
R. W.
Just had a coffee but it was lovely and the staff were very friendly
N. N.
Great food, tasty coffee, friendly attentive staff. Only negative is it can be quite noisy.
T. H.
Fantastic feel! Great service. Had the omelette was delicious but way too much dill.
Would defiantly return for dinner
P. L.
Pretty good bar with nice range of food, if not noisy due to high ceiling and reflective services. Great range of local produce.
M. M.
Great decaf coffee, iced coffees are good too (make sure you ask for ice-cream!) and customer service was awesome. Thank you!
W.
Go there if you are looking for a fine dining breakfast at a normal price! Great atmosphere, great customer service and amazing food!

Did their utmost to please this fussy coffee drinker. Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff. Would recommend.

Interesting method of coffee... The hitman which "contains chocolate" tasted like a normal coffee. Quite pricey as well.
A. P.
Meh, apparently the coffee is organically sourced and comes from blahhhh. Tasted ordinary, much prefer Lavazza or similar.
