Cute little cafe with seating in a courtyard. Friendly service but came on Australia Day so not all menu items available and staff member down. Really want to come back and try the other items I saw on their IG page. Food we did order was lovely.

KYO Coffee Project ….. Wow !!!!
This is an absolute must have Breakfast.
Fabulous chef & awesome staff … Asian fusion on beautifully constructed combinations.
Relaxing, enjoyable & super cool place to enjoy company or just chill solo 👌🏼
Highly recommend it ….. Braddon ACT

Tucked away from the main street in a small courtyard, it's easy to forget you're in busy Braddon. The food was really good and reasonably quick and the atmosphere convivial.
The service was poor but I think the waiter was new. My friend's coffee order went missing and had to be re-ordered, then it arrived and was wrong. A replacement quickly arrived with an apology and everything was smooth from there.
I'll give this another try.

One of my favourite cafes in Canberra! Such a nice vibe, with trees for shade, nice servers, amazing coffee and tasty asian-inspired food options. Quite small, so I recommend coming early or on a weekday to avoid the brunch crowds.

Amazing vibes here!!! Now one of my favourite spots in Canberra. Natasha, Giseppe, and Ali were super friendly and I had the best soy chai hands down in Canberra.
We also ate the bacon and egg roll and Soto Ayam which were delicious. Will be back soon :)

Kyo Coffee Project is tucked in the nook along with White Chaco and Paint and Pinot. It has some outdoor seating with big heaters close by and a couple of spots to sit indoor.
It’s a super charming place and the coffee was good. I found the sato ayam dish a little under-salted and it could’ve been served hotter. Overall a great visit though.

Excellent coffee and hot chocolate. Short but considered food menu. Lovely quiet location just off Lonsdale St. Possibly the best (gourmet) bacon and egg rolls in Canberra.
J. L.
Great atmosphere in a little alleyway.
Bacon and egg roll was special and their coffee was amazing
K. T.
Great location in a courtyard and a fun atmosphere. This place is really bustling any you can sit on shared tables or in benches. Coffee is really good, so is the three egg omelette. Service was slow on the day I went, but if you're prepared to wait, it's worth it.

This new cafe Braddon is the space to escape to for a focused take on breakfast. We totally recommend starting off with a carefully crafted pour coffee, made by the man who roasts the coffee as well. Be sure to order up the soba noodles, and finish with a house soda. It's friendly, peaceful and right in the the middle of Canberra.

A little oasis. Great coffee and breakfast with a twist.
I had the three egg omelette ... it’s Japanese inspired. Delicious and different. Coffee was richly flavoured and great.
Nice ambience, tucked in a back alley with a relaxed ‘Surry Hills’ feel that is becoming synonymous with Braddon

Amazing place to have coffee, food, and chill.
Kyō is a niche cafe tucked away in a beautiful spot with lots of greenery among the interesting architecture. The cafe is Japanese influenced in its food, and has a great selection of diverse breakfasts. Chilled music plays throughout the tiny inside and spreads into the courtyard.
Coffee is really good, although only 4 options (black, milk, pour over, and another one I've forgotten). Dairy free option is oatmilk.
Well priced food with the option to customise your order.
Dog friendly if your four legged friend is well behaved.

Their breakfast offering is one of the best in Canberra - try the mushroom broth. So full of flavour and so delicious - seriously good. Coffee is also great. Highly recommend!
N. K.
Amazing food, delicious coffee and very friendly and attentive staff. Definitely try brisket toastie and eggs with pickled chilli. Love this place!
C. M.
Everything was cooked in the spot, so amazing. If I could rate this more than 5 stars would do it, the food there is waaaay beyond what you would expect from any café.
A.
Love the Matcha Latte, but waited too long for the Kimchi Toastie......
C. G.
Really great coffee and good service

Visited Kyo Coffee Project for breakfast with a guest and had a lovely time. The atmosphere teeters on the edge of casual and hipster, threatening to become pretentious, but the great food and coffee saves it from doing so. The omelette with tonkatsu sauce was a riff on okonomiyaki I didn't realise I needed in my life, and the bacon and egg ciabatta roll was suitably satisfying. Great coffee, and great to see support of local brands with the use of Enigma chocolate for the hot chocolate. Will definitely be returning.

broooo I can't believe this place is real. Not only do they serve good beverages and great dishes, but their service was incredibly polite and friendly. The place has such a quaint and cozy aesthetic that it makes such an incredible place to grab a coffee with a few of your friends or maybe grab a bite during your break. Decent view too!
I reckon this is the coziest friendliest cafe on the corner of Lonsdale 💖

Kyō Coffee Project is a cool coffee spot tucked away on Lonsdale St that could probably use an extra staff member.
Pros:
+ The coffee is exceptional and the food is nice.
+ Trendy atmosphere and vibe.
Cons:
- Waited just under an hour for lunch, which was frustrating. I wouldn't recommend going if you're in a rush or on a lunch break (I was late to a meeting). The cafe has a lot of potential, but I wouldn't go back until the service improves. More staffing would be helpful.
A. P.
Best coffee in Canberra, hands down. Also the best bacon and egg roll you'll ever have.
S. R.
Delicious coffee. Brewed to perfection. Outstanding skills of frothing the soy milk for a cappuccino...
The location of Kyo is a little of street and not 100% visible from the road side. Although this does give it a refreshing atmosphere . Busy, yet quiet.
It's definitely somewhere I'd recommend for locals or a quick bite with a close friend. Not really somewhere for a meeting or casual company tho.
I look forward to returning ... the coffee was outstanding.
K.
Little slow on the food but decent, good coffee.
K. H.
At $19 for a small coffee and a bacon and egg roll, it's pretty pricey. You can generally find something similar for between $10 - $15. That said, the coffee was good and the roll fancy. Definitely up market. And the outdoor seating was all very pleasant.
But I didn't really enjoy it. The roll, while tasty enough, was really messy to eat. So much so that it felt a chore to get through. I probably would have been just as happy with a simpler roll for less money. Still, I can't fault them for it - more an issue of my personal preference.
P. S.
Vibes for days n days. Tasty food and drinks. A great place to escape the CBD's hustle n bustle. Pleasing architecture to be surrounded by and lots of nice gift shops near by. Ftw🌟💯 I've been here many times and staff have always been friendly and helpful.

Wonderful place, great service had a lovely
time. Highly recommended

Away from the main street this small but well-designed and well-utilised space reminds me of a Melbourne inner-city laneway. This was our first visit and the coffee was excellent as was the service. I tend to like my coffee hot so will always revisit places that respect that (and avoid those that don't because it's against their coffee-brewing-temperature policy blah, blah, etc). It's comforting to see more cafes setting up shop that can deliver when it comes to coffee, food and service - but also values the customer.

A cute little hole-in-the-wall cafe that is oozing with style. Unfortunately, in my experience the cafe is probably trying to do a bit more than it can achieve with the facilities it has. The menu is expansive and has a heap of variety, but quality is lost as the shortcuts necessary to produce some of the meals in the tiny kitchen causes problems. For example, the menu has roasted tomatoes on toast. The tomatoes unexpectedly come out cold...because they likely pre-roasted and refrigerated them. Which isnt really the norm. Similar "tricks" were in a few of the other meals.
Furthermore, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive, which isn't generally a problem, but it came out staggered so many people had finished eating before others even received their meals. Many of the orders were wrong, or different - I ordered the shiitake mushrooms broth but received some other (delicious) broth instead which had about half the ingredients. Other meals were missing add on eggs (that we paid for). I'm more than happy to accept some of blame here, we shouldn't and I won't in the future, come here with a group of 6 people (friends visiting from out of town) as the cafe just can't handle it. I'd max out at 4 or even 2 people.
The food that was prepared correctly was delicious, and the coffee was great too. But I personally think that if they scaled things back a little and focused on something more consistently achievable it'd be amazing.

Super nice staff and delicious meals. Love this place.
W.
Mushroom toast is to die for.. great coffee, customer service and high quality for the prices. I'll definitely be back with more friends.. the only "negative" thing is that the food takes a little while to come out but I understand that it is because of the limited space in the kitchen and because everything is freshly made!
S.
Cozy location in the heart of Canberra's revitalised urban area. Excellent coffee with an interesting menu selection. The staff were friendly and helpful in tweaking some of the menu items to suit personal requirements.
H. B.
Favourite cafe in Canberra! Amazing coffee and food. This cafe is so popular and the staff are always so friendly and have great service.
P. W.
I’ve never been disappointed - okay maybe I’ve been disappointed in my life but this place has never contributed to that in any metric.
O. T.
Absolutely love this place! Lovely little location and really friendly staff. Perfect for just a coffee, breakfast or lunch. The menu is divine - especially the egg & bacon roll. Make sure you also get the chai!

Pros:
- Coffee was good
- Breakfast udon was better than average
Cons:
- Udon doesn't come with broth
- Service. Not sure if it's because there isn't a tipping culture in AUS but I had seen tons of photos of the udon online and ordered it in the morning (I know, unconventional). When it came out it didn't have broth in it so I asked the server if the udon was supposed to have broth in it. She bluntly said, no. When I looked confused that udon would come brothless, she just said, "It doesn't say broth on the menu" and then walked away.
Tips or no tips, you work on the service industry. I'd rather go down to Lonsdale Street Roasters as their service was kind and the coffee was good.

Best coffee around and always consistent. Cafe is set in a nice courtyard . Best toastie and bacon and egg roll going!
A. “. b.
Chilled, overachieving little cafe tucked away off Lonsdale street. Great coffee and service as always. Japanese/Asian inspired twist on most menu items.
B. H.
Best kept coffee secret in Canberra.
Even though the black roast is a bit out of sync with my personal filter preference (I'm a light roast fan), there's no denying the quality is here from bean to cup, and I'm happy to keep coming back for batch brews or long blacks.
Unlike other Canberra coffee establishments overrun with ego and snobbery, KYO has a humbleness about it that I can't get enough of.
Dont care much for international barista awards and overblown personalities used to market personally branded useless espresso gear. I care about local institutions that stay grounded. Keep it up KYO.
P. N.
Nice space and great coffee. Breakfast is creative. Though the rice in the bento was underdone and too heavy on the sesame oil.
S. M.
Great coffee, small but innovative menu. All round wonderful hidden gem.
S. K.
The Japanese Korean Australian fusion serves good coffee located in bit hidden enclave in Braddon. The egg roll and udon are worth to try.
L. G.
Really nice and quaint little coffee shop. Super lovely staff who looked after us and great tasting tea and coffee. Love that they stay open later than other places
C. B.
This is probably the best little coffee bar in Braddon. Great coffee, really friendly, attentive staff who know their stuff and a cool vibe. Worth wandering down the lane for.
J. Y.
Coffee and food is good but both times I've been the food took over an hour come.
S. X.
Their coffee was just smack down amazing. The best thing about Kyo is their lovely food menu!
P. A.
Some realty unique menu items and their own roasted coffee makes for some really tasty treats. Probably the best in Braddon
