Took family visiting from interstate for a walk around the gardens and a quick bite to eat. Plenty of tables available on a busy day and great surroundings to sit and have a bite to eat. Staff were friendly and food was quick to be delivered to our tables. I was very pleased with the options on the menu to order for both adults and kids. Kids loved the milkshakes and coffee was nice and strong.
C. D.
Lovely food in a lovely location in Canberra. Can enjoy the peace of the Botanical Gardens whilst eating some very nice food. Was nice with the lizards roaming around too as it made everything feel very natural.
C. N.
You have to reserve a table during Covid but the outside area allows for ordering from the side window. They are currently in the midst of renovations to the outside platform. Should be great when finished. The coffee was good they had plenty of heaters for outside eating. A great way to begin or to end your visit to the Botanic gardens.
E. H.
Can't beat the views!!!!!! Delicious food at very reasonable prices. One of my favourite eating spots. Gotta try the zucchini balls.
J. K.
I have been to this well appointed café several times over the past few years. it is nestled within the Botanical Gardens though you don’t need to go through the gardens for access. On the whole the atmosphere is pleasant with some interesting choices on the menu. You order at the counter and queues can be long during peak periods especially if there is a special attraction at the gardens. For example, there has been a dinosaur exhibit recently and it was understandably busy during the school holiday period it was on. The service and quality of the food was definitely not as good as usual. The fixed menu children’s meals were less than ordinary and a choice of a a piece of fruit instead of a big biscuit would have been appreciated. Also, ‘serve yourself’ water was readily available so I could not understand why the children’s meals included bottled water. Apart from this one disappointing experience I have found meeting friends for coffee or lunch here enjoyable. Size of meals can vary quite a bit so if you are after a hearty meal check with the server. They do offer some tasty healthy choices.
L.
Great place for lunch after a walk around the Gardens. The food is delicious, friendly staff and you can view the menu and order via your phone or by going up to the counter.
J. X.
Nice coffee place for weekend to read. Their staff are friendly.
C. H.
Love being able to order online while sitting at the table on the large deck out in the glorious sunshine. Food was great as always.
V. L.
Fair quality coffee and food. One special thing is during covid they don't do face to face order. They give you a tablet which you use it to choose what you order and pay the bill. This is a new thing for me to try.
k. d.
lovely coffee and friendly staff; prompt service and no problems re my order, but I do wish they'd allow eftpos payments; I don't like or trust taping as a payment method generally and have had issues with it previously.I look forward to trying the food on my next visit.
J. M. (.
A chic and pleasant way to spend the afternoon catching up with a friend while sipping on great coffee and delicious sweets. Decorated with amazing Australian flowers, family-friendly and easy to access.
M. A. A.
Great ambience and food. Staff were really friendly and accommodating.
Salmon salad and pork tacos were yummy. Soy chai latter delicious too.
J. C.
Highly popular restaurant located in the botanical gardens. Reservations are recommended during peak hours, otherwise it's a hustle for the ourdoor seating. Mains are a little pricey for what they are, but hey you pay for the scenery and serenity.
R. B.
From the menu:
"Chicken Chimichanga
fried burrito with chicken, capsicum, onion, kidney beans, rice, mozzarella cheese, coriander, mixed leaves salad, tomato salsa, cilantro yoghurt "
I've had chimichangas all over the world and never one quite as subtle and delicious as was this. Karla had a wagyu beef burger she thought quite good.
A bit of an alcoholic lunch for me, both a glass of wine and a beer. The wine was Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, AU. I would love to find a bottle. It really was top notch.
All of this in a cafe at the Botanic Gardens in Canberra, Australia which is open to the public for free and gorgeous. We had a great time.
S. P.
Beautiful spot to enjoy breakfast
The food was fresh and delicious overlooking the gardens.
Coffee hit the spot, very enjoyable.
Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was flavorsome. Menu had great options, well worth a look.
Great customer service, very warm and friendly
P. A.
Great food and service.
You can book for tables of Deere than 8. Just keep trying the phone number until someone answers.
J. M.
Highly, highly, highly recommend this place!! Amazing food and amazing service.
P. G.
Emma was very helpful, the food so fresh but just unfortunate that we could not have cake for my b/day due to sitting times. Its s perfect spot
☀️🍷
K. S.
Delicious food, really fast service, lovely staff - I give it 12/10, amazing, beautiful, stunning. The burger and the eggs benedict were divine and the orange juice tasted like it came directly from heaven. Would recommend.
G. J.
A great atmosphere and delicious food.
D. M.
Lovely setting, quaint cafe, great food and service
A. M.
The location is beautiful. Right in the botanical gardens. You can hear the birds. It’s lovely.
I had booked a table so I got the chance to experience proper seating and the service of the café.
I liked that they had an all day dining menu, so I could choose something else than eggs for breakfast.
The Wagyu beef burger was excellent.
The coffee was burnt. I didn’t quite enjoy it as much.
Lovely place though.
M. M.
Great food and very quick service. Atmosphere was very relaxed.
W. C.
Love the foods, coffee, services and the atmosphere 💚
J. H.
The staff were very friendly and they served nice coffee and tasty biscuits... They also did a good job of our kids hot chocolates (not too hot!). At a great venue too, so it's a winner - our kids ran around the lawn and explored the gardens while most of the parents got to sit down and relax.
A. c.
This place is great BUT to me over the top if u just wanted a toasty and coffee why be so flash and prices so high makes it an expensive day out for a family of 4 or 5
R. S.
Attractive little cafe with a range of standard brunch offerings. It annoyed me that bookings only lasted for one hour. Beyond that, you are turfed onto the outside deck. Given the $$$, I'd expect a bit more hospitality.
D. C.
A lovely atmosphere. Food was great coffee good flavour. Staff pleasant but not over friendly. Didn't realise it was paid parking $3.80 per hour which goes to the Botantic Gardens.
R. e.
Great food and vibes! If free parking is available within the garden that will be even greater.
H. L.
We had takeaway lunch at the Pollen during our visit to the Canberra National Botanic Gardens. After the main path walk we decided to have lunch there but because we didn't book ahead so we had lunch in the takeaway areas. The service was quick and the foods and coffee were nice. Highly recommended.
S.
Food and coffee was tasty, service was excellent, I loved it.
R. L.
Beautiful cafe in the gardens. Good food and drinks.
R. L. L.
Great food and coffee, beautiful gardens, friendly staff. Love the decor. Can see why it would be a popular option for weddings. Lots of birds and lizards trying to steal your lunch if you sit on the deck outside, but that just adds to the charm and fun! The cakes are delicious! Do the “Main Path Loop” afterwards to walk off your meal (about 1.4km through five different ecosystems).
B. L.
Love the atmosphere, decor, and food. Great place to spend your morning with the fresh air from botanic garden 🌸
f.
Nicky and her team run a tight ship in the Botanical Gardens. Neat uniforms, careful covid protocols, strong delicious coffee with good attention to the milk, and tasty meals make it a favourite for us cyclists after a swift churn up Black Mountain. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
J. Y.
Despite the building work, it was still a fairly nice lunch, enjoyed sharing the smashed (cubed) AVO, and Zucchini balls, reasonable price.
L. R.
I loved it! Food and coffee was tasty, service was excellent, and within the Botanical garden. You don't need to go inside the garden, the café is located near the car park. Lizards and birds on the patio, lovely atmosphere!
C. W.
I love the atmosphere and the coffee is great but sometimes the food is a bit hit and miss. The toilets are often dirty and it would be nice if they supplied bottles for table water rather than glasses you need to keep refilling.
A. B. (.
Great customer service, great food and great coffee
L. R.
Good food and good internet menu/ordering implementation.
M. S.
Such a hidden gem nestled in the botanic gardens. Friendly and helpful staff, gluten free options for food and high quality meals in general. The cakes are always excellent and it's a great setting next to the lawns
L. T.
Food fresh & arrived quickly. Delicious. Herb tea also great. Lost 1 star only because I'm cheapskate & I thought they were a little pricey
J. R.
Not a fan of the recyclable takeaway containers. Understand COVID considerations but restrictions have eased as should your service. Disappointed to pay top dollar for a meal served in a small paper box.
A. B.
We came for breakfast and were impressed by the range of vegetarian options. The food was delicious and the ingredients were high quality. The decor and location was good
with indoor and outdoor options; everything was clean and spacious and bright. Staff and service were excellent. The only drawback is that the add-ons are unnecessarily expensive, for example, it charges $6 for extra halloumi. Also, it would have been nice to have non-plastic straws. However, it was a very pleasant experience overall.
A. C.
Delightful place for brunch or lunch. Pleasant service, excellent coffee and a chance to meet some of our cheekier wildlife up close... Magpies, kurrawongs and bearded lizards are part of the entertainment, although please don't feed them, it's bad for them...
S.
$15 for a bowl of chips and small Latte, including 10% Sunday surcharge; found it bit pricy...the takeaway area felt bit like a Supermarket where your name is shouted so loud (like, Next Please)
However the gardens are gorgeous!
E. J.
What a gem of a restaurant to find within the grounds of the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Clearly a favourite for large groups, this was a fantastic location for a work lunch. After lining up to order, the food and drinks came very promptly. The food itself was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were polite and friendly. I look forward to my next visit.
A. B.
Bit expensive but food is good. Kids menu too. Great surroundings but be prepared to have guests if you sit outside. The birds are relentless. As soon as you leave your table, they're on your plates looking for scraps.
B. K.
Gorgeous cafe within the botanic gardens, love the natural vibe. the coffee and the food were both great! Indoor and outdoor seating, both looked comfy and not at all cramped.
L. P.
Great spot nestled into the Botanic Gardens. Nice menu with breakfast options until 2pm, including some healthier options. I enjoy a delicious veggie bowl. Lunch is pricier with annoying extra $(6!) for protein.
S. M.
Nice location and surrounds in the gardens (look out for the birds and water dragons who might try steal your food!). The food itself is pretty tasty and some unique flavours, although it borders on overpriced at times ($6 for some grilled tofu in a salad?), and the service is a little bit and miss too. Still, worthwhile heading here for a feed.
B. M.
Visited on Mother's Day so it was booked out (reservation had been made three months earlier). Great food and friendly staff. Service was fine considering how busy it was. Recommended.
J.
Beautiful setting. The cheeky dragons and birds that hang around offer great entertainment. Tasty coffee and healthy GF, V & Ve. menu options. I highly recommend for a nice breakfast or lunch out, perfect for birthdays, family outings.
It can be noisy inside, outside is the best option.
D. G.
Friendly, fast service and excellent cafe food in a venue with a captive audience where they could get away with doing much less.
K. A.
Really good coffee which came out quickly. Only problem was that names were called out to pick up orders, in a busy outdoor cafe it was almost impossible to hear if your order was being called
G. G.
Very popular on the weekends. Nice food. Lovely location, of course. Staff need to learn that most folk like their coffee and desert AFTER the main, not before,!
S. W.
Eggs with haloumi were good. Should have known better than ordering the chocolate waffles with lemon curd. Coffee was average.
C. C.
Came with a group of about 12 Mums n Bubs, and the staff were very accommodating, found us a table in a warm area and we're super friendly. Service was fast and very polite, especially the male waiter, and the food was very yummy ! I will come back again!
t. s. u. 8.
Although it was closed when I arrived the view is spectacular well worth the look but next time I hope to get a coffee
W. D.
First visit here. Just great. Extremely fast service. Great food. Lovely atmosphere.
A. I.
Good service, and a nice place to visit. Lunch was filling and tasty, despite the strict choices. The leaf litter on the verandah probably cause problems when it rains.
G. I.
Come for the atmosphere and scenery, especially if you can get outdoor seating. The range and prices are reasonable, especially given the area.
E. G.
Delicious food which came to our table quickly. Very helpful staff. Rather noisy on a day too hot to eat outside.
D. B.
Beautiful setting but the coffee was really bad
L. S.
Good use of an excellent position; superb, fresh fitout by the new management. Tad expensive but with better cafe food served quickly even at rush times. Reservation a sensible precaution for a good outside table in pleasant weather.
J. W.
Fast service and beautiful food!! Really good serving sizes too
M. C.
Healthy breakfast was delicious. Nice coffee. Choose an outdoor seat where you can enjoy watching the birds.
l. b.
Good coffee, lovely location. Umbrellas would be useful to shield guests from the sun though....
C. C.
Very unique place, right within the botanical gardens. Either to have something to eat or enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. The cakes are delicious. Perfect to enjoy nature within the city.
A.
Fantastic location in the gardens. Great fitout with lots of little spaces. Really good coffee. Haven't had food but looks good. Not a tourist trap!
D. G.
Nice food, good service, just don't leave your food unattended outside as the resident magpie / wattle birds / noisy minor s will take that as a green light to move in and clean up.
D. H.
Good menu including kids menu at reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere amongst the trees.
M. A.
Fabulous cafe and location in the spectacular location of The Botanical Gardens. Delicious cakes and meals . A real treat and tranquil oasis.
M. S.
Great outdoor setting at Botanic Gardens, has delicious cakes and nice coffee. Magpies and lizards look out for crumbs!
J. W.
Good quick takeaway service for outside eating. Inside requires booking but plenty of space outside.
M. H.
Great service. Terrific food
s. e.

s. A.
Quick service. Lovely view. Great food. Highly recommend
A. H.
Delicious, well cooked food. Fast and friendly service, except the line to irder was out the door. Mixed up burger order. Overpriced.
R. F.
Delicious food, nice and spacious for prams in the outside area that is under cover. Parking is expensive if you are going to be there for a long period.
E. M.
Came here with my mum for her birthday. Food was great. Only critique is that ordering at the counter doesnt suit the place.
A. A.
Beautiful beautiful interior in the gardens with a simple delicious menu. I got the vegan option which I enjoyed! More vegan options please :)
P. D.
Fresh looks, modern menu, yummy food, quick service, what more do you want ? Oh a. Ice walk around the garden after , lovely start to the day
S. B.
Beautiful coffee. Not bad food. Good service. Pay parking is yuk
A. C.
The pieces of cake are quite big, which could be either a good or bad thing, depending on your taste. For me it was too much, considering the richness of the cake.
R. P.
Lunch of Zucchini and Feta fritters was delicious. Lovely location in the Australian National Botanic gardens.
K. L.
This place is so popular you better make sure you book first. Eggs Benny my favourite.
t. c.
One of the best cafes in Canberra. Great food in a wonderful setting, backed up by fruitless service.
