Amazing Chinese that has become my regular favourite. I love the eggplant hotpot and dumplings 😋 Delicious!

We were dying for some Chinese food but we wanted steamed dumplings and found this place by recommendation on Google and it didn't disappoint. Upon arrival you could tell this place was good by the crowd of people. Having lived in Suzhou for a couple of years this place brought us back not only by taste but surprisingly by the price. We highly recommend eating here and ordering the steamed pork and prawn dumplings.

Came from Taiwan. It is very hard to find an authentic Chinese with great quality an content of Chinese dishes in Canberra. Often ran into the Chinese restaurants that lost the authenticity, especially too salty or too sweet. The great value is in the dishes I ordered and ate, not the quality of the plates and interiors This restaurant is the one of the few Chinese restaurants we enjoy

One of my favourite lunches in civic. Dumplings and wontons are good. Today it was gong bao chicken. Spicy, nutty and sweet and a portion size that was very generous.

This place is interesting. My co-worker who ordered the ribs couldnt eat them due to the fact they had been well what had seemed to be almost burnt. He also asked for noddle and got rice. The greens were lovely though. Oh and the dumplings were pretty good too.

I've been coming to this place for years and they never fail to please. The dumplings are a must but if you get the chance, you should try the spicy eggplant and chicken (I always go with the noodle option) - you won't be disappointed!! 😋

This is probably my favourite restaurant in Canberra. Cheap and delicious. The dumplings are always super tasty and their spicy eggplant with chicken and rice in a clay pot is without a doubt my favourite comfort food of all time. No, not all of the mains are as good, but they have that one down to a fine art. I also actually really like the fact that service isn't perfect because it keeps out the annoying "upper class" crowd of Canberra and I can enjoy my meal in peace, unlike when I eat out at more expensive restaurants in Canberra haha. Keep doing you Shanghai Dumpling Cafe, I love you for it.

Great dumplings but don't expect the waiters to speak much English. Sometime you can have quite a wait for your food and other times they are really fast. If your in a rush don't take the risk.
