Comments of Urban Pantry
J. K.
Casual dining inside or in a covered area outside with a pleasant vibe. Quite light and airy inside but seemed a little crowded outside. The meals were quite nice and not oversized and included things like battered fish and chips, a lamb salad and seared tuna nicoise salad. There were a range of burgers, and typical breakfast menu favourites such as omelette and eggs benedict with wilted spinach, ham salmon and mushrooms etc. They do have some vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options available and some of the sweet treats looked yummy. The coffee - not bad - ask for hot if you don’t like luke walk. I found the background music too loud and it did make conversation a little difficult at times depending on the song being played. It is only possible to book a table for 6 or more guests but I was assured that it would be highly unusual not to get a table for 4 or less as a ‘walk in’. I’d certainly return - 4⭐️

The place is always busy and the wait staff is rushing all the time.
Food is okay, but not the best. Our coffee was served at least 10 minutes after receiving our food.

Visiting Canberra so made a plan to visit Urban Pantry after finding them via Google. Was a fantastic experience. The food was really fresh and tasty and came out fairly quickly. (Eggs Benny, omelette and blueberry pancakes.) Coffees were great too. Only thing that felt a bit pricey was the fresh OJ but it was also delicious. (Just a small serving.) Would certainly come again next time we’re around. Thanks for making our first brekkie in Canberra a satisfying one.

Sunday & also Mother’s Day means for a hectic morning/day for the staff at Urban, yet our party of 10 were well served with beverages & meals all in symphony. Even as busy as it was, the staff performed well for my group making the event ever so memorable. Always a good idea to book first to avoid disappointment especially on a Sunday. 👍

This a cafe I have great memories in. I love their early morning working hours and the coffee is pretty decent.
The menu has been the same for quite sometime if anything I would love to see some new exciting additions to it.
E.
Service was average and the burgers were okay. Water glasses were super dirty... 🤢
Green smoothie and iced mocha were decent, but probably won’t visit again. We visited the cafe across the yard last time and our experience was so much better there :(

Casual dining venue in the heart Manuka Lawns. Lovely area for kids to have a run around. This place is great! Gets quite busy for brunch would book ahead.
Found the selection of food on the menu for breakfast ideal. The service was just right and
Price wise we had a full breakfast with 2 adults and 2 children for around $ 70.00 we walked out satisfied.
R. L.
Coffee and food are great. Love the style of their space, beautiful selection of furnitures and hardware. Service is good. Having both indoor and outdoor seats. Great vibes in Canberra City.
R. M.
Came here for breakfast. Smoothie was good coffee was delicious. The food was decent. The water glasses looked dirty but it’s actually that they are very scratched. I would come here again on my next trip down.

Best breaky in Canberra.
Good service and decor

Some interesting items on the menu with large portions but also on the expensive side. Food is good quality but average flavour wise. Recommend booking if you want to come on a weekend though that definitely doesn't seem to guarantee you a table when you turn up. People who booked waited about as long as we did to be seated even though we were walk ins. It's packed on a Sunday due to the proximity to the big church around the corner.

We were in Canberra for a weekend and looked up cafes to visit via google & Instagram. This café caught our eye and we are glad it did. We headed down to Mankua area, which is thriving with cafes, which we were pleasantly surprised about given it was between Christmas and New Year’s.
The Urban Pantry occupies a corner location just by a small open arcade. Its big swinging doors greet you from the front and it’s interior styling has a white cottage chic vibe going on, very pretty, with plenty of greenery. You can also sit alfresco.
It wasn’t too busy and we were seated quickly. The food being served to other diners looked fabulous and the menu is very approachable so we had a very difficult time deciding what to order. Breakfast is until 11:30 or all day dining on weekends - we were brunch visitors but the lunch meals also looked very appealing, in particular the house made gnocchi or meat skewers. This will be for another time!
For the breakfast choices, their sweet dishes include Brioche French Toast and buttermilk pancakes. There’s also plenty of amazing choices to make that are savoury. Whether it be the chef’s pan or urban avocado, mushroom bruschetta or an omelette, you will find something to suit. We decided on their spring onion crumpets, topped with campari cured gravlax, creme fraiche and a toasted grain panagratto. The crumpets were light and fluffy and the topping was a lovely flavour combination. We really enjoyed this dish.
I had the summer fruits – a plate of mango, dragonfruit, kiwi fruit, watermelon, pineapple and a coconut yoghurt pancaotta with macadamia granola. It was lovely and refreshing for summer. Could have done with a more generous serve of the granola for the crunch factor, but that said it was a good dish.
To be honest I’m slightly regretting not ordering an open toast; the option that had oven roasted maple pear, basket ricotta and Majura Valley Vanilla honey is still calling my name. At least, it gives me a want to return!
We really like that this café is not one of the typical cafes we often see in Sydney with their run of the mill bacon and egg rolls or over the top sweet colourful insta worthy dishes. We like that they are inventive and creative, making delicious dishes with beautiful fresh ingredients in an interesting way. Everything was stunning and we are super keen to revisit when in the area.

Awful service, no table water, no cutlery for food, food tasted good and coffee was ok
N. T.
Great food, the Murcia eggs were delicious and a wonderful blend of flavors. Eggs Benny one of the best in Canberra. Only down side is the long wait because of understaffing but the food is faultless. Holds its own against 4 or 5 equally great cafes next to it!
N. J.
Best place for 3pm lunch in Manuka. Really enjoyed the snapper and the salad was good too. Nice coffee here also. Staff are friendly & efficient.
T. H.
Great vibe, busy cafe. Friendly, quick (but leisurely) service. Accommodating to change menu for food requirements (carnivore diet). Beautiful iced latte. Perfectly cooked chicken, lamb and calamari. Definitely recommend.
G. H.
Visited on the weekend and had a lovely experience. Great vibe with very friendly and efficient service, despite how busy they were. Good coffee.
M.
Excellent food (omelette), a little cold when it arrived but still tasted great. Coffee was a quite acceptable espresso.
m. a.
Phoebe got food poisning from your oat milk, sick as a dog for 2 days straight. thought she had the Rona. we think it was probably just off.
otherwise great
D. M.
Great food and coffee. Fast service. We love it.
I. E.
Good coffee and fresh pastries.
M. A. A.
Great menu with lots of options for everyone. Decor is very ambient and staff were friendly. Loved the Bircher coconut muesli!
L. 2.
Took my parents for a nice meal and we all loved it! The staff and food are high quality. This place is always busy for a reason and worth checking out. The photo was from the all day breaky menu.
C.
Staff: 5/5. All the staff members from front of house and kitchen were all very kind and had a good energy about them. I would recommend anyone visit for a welcoming atmosphere.
Food: 4/5. Food was not too fancy, however, it was done well. Came to our table quickly.
I would recommend a visit if you are looking for a decent quick meal. Additionally, a lot of parking nearby.
G. B.
Extremely quick meals, beautifully made and amazing customer service. We are visiting from Brisbane for work and have come here most of our mornings for breakfast. The coffee tastes great and the food is fantastic. Keep up the amazing work my friends, will definitely be back when we visit Cairns again 😬
J. O.
Delicious breakfast options! Ask what they have on the menu for kids though, it isn't displayed.
S. Q.
Ate here on the 20th Oct. food was nice an staff were good. only gripe is the ROBBERY on the juice. $8.50 and the whole glass is filled with ice. i understand a chilled juice is nice, but this was taking the micky. The entire glass was filled with ice, for only about 100mls of actual juice to surround it. **This photo was taken once my juice was diluted approx 15-20mins after recieving it . the ice was to the brim. im still annoyed at it.
K. M.
Love the good and service, great idea for the QR menu, save paper and environment.
A. Y.
Delicious meal and great atmosphere for a casual meet with friends/family. The breakfast menu had variety but was a bit pricey.
L. M.
Our first visit and personally, I think these guys have found the right mix of 100% customer service and coffee shop hip. Great atmosphere, enough on the menu (they're not pretending to be a restaurant) and the staff clearly like working with each other, which leads to a friendly approach. We'd recommend 😊
M. A. (.
Coffee was great. Fast friendly service for a busy little Cafe. Had the eggs with a side of mushrooms, I personally thought the eggs were a little dry and my partner didn't think the bircher ratio was right. Saw a BLT burger go out that looked divine.
J. R.
Breakfast was good, tea was horrible, coffee satisfactory. Service was poor - seated quickly but took ages to get served, eventually having to stop a passing waitress.
M. P.
Very delicious, I recommend it, was a bit crowded cause i went on a sunday, but the wait is worth.
L. S.
Hard to park but good spot with choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Upmarket location is good for seeing some ugly fashion
M. B.
Delicious food, great music and gorgeous clean aesthetic. Great wine list as well.
S. V.
Great Café service is always really good and fast very friendly. Food is fresh and great
J. P.
This food is exceptional the staff are brilliant this will be my go to place for breakfast everytime im in Canberra
A. P.
Great breaky, and was a huge serving!! AAA+++
J. L.
I can see this is a locals favourite. Delicious food and coffees
D. A.
We had an early (8:30am) breakfast here on a Sunday, for 2 adults and 2 kids. The service was prompt and friendly, and the staff had no issues with us sharing meals and adding sides. The pancake special was one of the best pancake dishes I've eaten. It was a little pricey but we immensely enjoyed our meal. Would definitely return.
C. O.
Nice atmosphere, nice food and friendly staff
J. H.
Ordered chef's pan.
Delicious.
As someone who's just moved to Manuka I'll definitely be back!
I. S.
Frienldy staff and good location. The outside seating needs updating!
U. B.
Overall a nice spot for breakfast/lunch. Decent coffee, tasty food and service is adequate. However, I was underwhelmed by the serving sizes of some dishes given the price ($19 for a single corn fritter).
- Would recommend the pancakes.
R. H.
We had a nice brunch here. Prompt friendly service, pretty good coffee and yummy food. It was a shame to see they're still using plastic straws especially with so many sustainable options around these days. If they went bamboo/paper I'd come back for the baked eggs.
T. L.
Love this little place, quick and excellent service, the food is wonderful and even changed the menu for my specific dietary needs which was wonderful
W. J.
Great coffee, delicious food, friendly staff. Thumb up for their QR code menu, hygienic and environmentally friendly.
E. P.
Enjoyed an amazing breakfast here recently. Can't wait to go again. I had a Gluten Free Urban Burger and chips, so satisfying and worth the money! Plenty of Gluten Free and Vegetarian options. The fresh juices are so yummy too. Wonderful staff and atmosphere.
g. b.
Spicy salami and cheese baguette, almond croissant and an INSANELY good homemade jam doughnut. Everything good! Coffee on point, professional and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more.
💯

If you are particularly about your coffee this is not the place to go and if you want good customer service this is not the place either.
My husband and I each ordered a small latte after our meal. After one sip we sent them both back because they were weak and milky and tasted like they had been made using burnt old beans.
My husband asked for a smaller latte explaining that the first one was weak and milky. The server responded with “you should have ordered a picalo”. I asked if they had a medium roast option and the server explained that they only has the one roast. As I did not want another burnt old bean coffee I did not ask for a new coffee just sent the first one back.
When the bill came, so my surprise, we were charged for one picalo and one latte. The manager said that I ordered the coffee so had to pay for it ... even though it was undrinkable in my opinion. That’s after we spent over $50 on lunch! No apology, no “I’m sorry you we’re not happy with your coffee” nothing.
Otherwise the location is good, decor and atmosphere are also good, food is on the pricey side. Coffee and service need work.
Will not be going back.
B. R.
Delicious food which was beautifully presented. I had the chicken skewer which was quite a hearty meal and well cooked ( raw skewers are an all too common disappointment at other cafes but not here). My salad was fresh and had an interesting variety of textures and Ingredients. My mum wanted to order a kids meal for dietary reasons. The servers were not willing to serve it ( never heard of being too old to order before????) But they checked with the chef who was very accommodating and cooked her the fish meal she had requested. I would definitely eat here again and would like to sample something from their enticing dessert display.

I have been to Urban Pantry a week ago, on a Saturday morning, and had some very good food, like always.
However the service was so bad...very disappointing. My friend and I ordered drinks before ordering the food and they never came. We had to remind 3 different waitresses three times, two of them acting arrogant but thank god the fourth time we asked, a nice and polite waitress finally told someone to make them... we had already finished our plates, they even took them and we were still waiting for our drinks (we are talking a 45mins wait for drinks....).
We finally got them after asking 4 times and had to take them take away as we had to go somewhere and could not wait any longer.
Big disappointment having been there before and having loved it. It changed my view on this place...
P. S.
Service was timely but relaxed and food was tastie.
S. B.
There's definitely a bias here, only those with a bad experience publish a review. Urban Pantry was beautiful, great atmosphere, the waiter was responsive and tended to our every need, coffee was beautiful. I can see why the place was so busy. The breakfast food was absolutely beautiful, would definitely eat there again.
A. L.
The rating would have been higher if judging the kitchen alone - food was exquisite although the gorgonzola "fondue" is served cold which is opposite to the literal meaning of fondue. (French for melted). However the waiting staff leave something to be desired... Despite being a very polite customer as I have worked in hospitality for ten years, the waitresses have clearly been chosen for presentation more than customer service personalities. Just my opinion, really loved the food. Oh, and you should probably getting a table for baby changing - there was a lady on the bathroom floor doing it as she had no other option, not the most hygienic!

Urban Pantry
A busy hub with indoor/outdoor eating options. Have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here regularly. Plenty of gluten-free options and lactose free milk for exceptional coffee and excellent food! Very professional service! However, I would prefer to see all staff wearing aprons rather than white t-shirts with food splatters on them. Eeek!
N. S.
The service was absolutely awful! Had to ask for drinks previously ordered several times. Staff didn't know which tables had ordered which food. When main meals arrived there was 3 missing! Took us to ask about it before the error was noticed. Didn't seem to be any staff allocated to specific tables. Had to re-order & were told that they would be made a priority but still had to wait quite a while before getting them. Table was booked for 7.15pm and the last meals were brought out after 9pm! The only saving grace was the food was great! After complaining we were offered free dessert which we declined, but we received 4 meals for free and my first glass of bubbly than finally came was free as well!
m.
Positive: food was absolutely delicious.
Huge negative: customer service is really bad! They sat us down at a table, saying they’ll be back for our order. We waited for 15mins before they realised we were waiting. They then got our order wrong, even though the waiter wrote it down.
The food was the saviour for this rating.
T. M.
Great coffee and food, but staff clearly don't want to be there. Needs more friendliness and less salt
A. C.
Have been here many times as it as my go to for pre-work meetings because the kitchen is open early, the coffee is great and you are always greeted by the boys behind the bar with a big smile (no matter how early it is!) Seasonal menu is fantastic and the food is always out pretty quick - even when it’s busy. Stylish fitout with views to Manuka lawns. Would recommend the Sicilian eggs if you are in for breakfast!
P. P.
Best cafe to visit in Canberra—perfect place for a Sunday brunch. Great coffee, delicious food and friendly staff who are always welcoming. Weekends are busy, but well worth the short wait for a table. The Urban Avo is a must! Highly recommend.
G. A.
Always really impressed with the customer service here! Welcomed enthusiastically and all staff were very friendly and helpful. AND the coffee and food are consistently good! Can always count on a good experience here.
H. a. A. U. K.
Great breakfast. Very generous meal size.
J. W.
The coconut Bircher muesli was delicious with lots of flavor. My friends meals were small servings so I would have probably walked away hungry if I ordered the savory. Cappuccinos were delicious and they don’t split the bills which was unfortunate.
B. M.
Good atmosphere and great food. We went for breakfast with the kids and the food and service were great. Definitely worth a visit.
K. W.
Service very friendly and accommodating. Coffee excellent. We didn't eat but the menu looked good. We will definitely return for a meal.
M. M.
Excellent service, amazing food, cool atmosphere. Serving sizes are just right (not huge), so you can feel safe ordering something a little naughty, like a fried donut with espresso icecream.
R. B.
Very pleasant environment, charming staff, pristine toilet facilities. Very limited choice for coeliacs, a cafe of this class should be able to come up with something other than the ubiquitous Orange and Almond Meal sweet option.
L. S.
Very popular so service takes a bit of time. Food enjoyable and nicely presented. Great atmosphere. Buzzing with people meeting together. Pet and child friendly
T. H.
For the second time I have come in for coffee and it has been bitter. It is normally excellent, and I come halfway across Canberra to get it, The new barista either does not know the finer points on making coffee well, or is not interested in doing so. Such a pity, because up til now, everything at the Urban Pantry has been perfect.
V. v. L.
We had an amazing breakfast. Very busy on Sunday morning but only a short wait for a table to become available. Good service. Good coffee.
G. H.
meals were great.
C. H.
Food is consistently well presented and good quality. Staff can be a little arrogant sometimes but generally friendly and on point. Coffee is always good.
G. F.
Great place for coffee, cakes and lunch. Good selection of gluten free food.
C. W.
Great brekkie and coffee! Went here over the long Easter weekend. . .busy cafe with obvious local regulars. Not sure if it was because of the busy weekend trade but staff not overly friendly! Would go back for the food though!
J. G.
I have yet to try the food, but some of the best coffee and smoothies I have had. Would recommend
J. C.
Good feed. Plenty of choice. Took me a minute to pick between the dishes that jumped out at me. Suppose I have to go back at least twice to try the other two dishes that tickled my fancy.
J. A.
Delicious, Excellent options, friendly prompt service, lively Alfresco dining... Perfect! Great coffee as well and gluten free options.
P. B.
Choice is in abundance for vegetarians on the breakfast menu as everything can be modified (6 sweet or toast options & 9 savoury). I had the baked rosti with peas, quinoa, carrot, potato and spinach, served with poached eggs. I wasn't expecting the rosti to be deconstructed (it was served in a ramekin with the eggs on top) but everything was cooked to perfection (crispy grated potato and carrot with soft peas and quinoa). A bonus to the dish was a side of soughdour toast.
E. D. F.
What a lovely place to have breakfast! We went 2 out of our 3 mornings there in Canberra . The coffee and food were fantastic.
E. W.
Awesome food and best watermelon frappe ever.
A. W.
Coffee was good but arrived long after the food did. Pretty good eggs Benedict but served on dry and very tough toast.
Y. M.
Came in after school with my daughter to get a baby-chino and juice and received unmatched service from the two young boys behind the bar. Big thumbs up for the youngsters!
W. L. S.
Every time I visit Canberra I make sure I get to eat here. The food is always amazing and service is excellent.
D. O.
For sure this place is very nice and serves great food, but quite expensive than its quality and quantity. Overall great though.
M. T. (.
Coffe was sweet and lacked some punch, toast and banana bread was excellent, hip atmosphere and staff were very friendly
A. T.
Great food and coffee. The French toast is to die for. The service is getting better now, more friendly and attentive.
K. A.
Love the interior, lovely staff as well
T. J.
Food is good and the cafe is modern, although we were left waiting too long for a second coffee.
C. K.
Food is good - the non working phone that drops out after 5 seconds is not. I tried calling from 3 different sources (mobile and landline) and all dropped out. (That doesn't include the one call that was answered and hung up on straight away)
L. L.
Great spot for breakfast & coffee. Friendly staff.
M. A.
Great breakfast menu. Healthy and veg choices are very good and tasty. Coffee is pretty decent.
L. F.
Coffee and great company! Pretty staff too!
M. S.
Great food and prompt service. The meals are not too overwhelming but also not too small.
J. D.
Always a good, consist brew to be had. Banana bread not too shabby either. Staff fast, efficient and friendly.
L. D. A.
Eggs Benedict tasted fantastic but the service was very very slow. Some of the waitresses there looked absolutely miserable.
A. C.
Good service and great breakfast. Urban avocado combines some lovely flavours and the mango magic hits the spot.
T. S.
Always good here, good coffee good food and friendly staff.
T. R. V. T.
Fantastic food wonderful service very welcoming by management and staff, highly recommend the urban pantry for a great feed with your friends and family.
S. M.
Style over subantance! Have been here a few times and never overly impressed with food or coffee. Nonetheless seems to be very popular?
M. N.
Great cafe for a catch up with friends for a coffee or bite to eat. The fresh donuts are a great treat.
G. R.
Nothing special at all. The coffee is average and the dishes look veru similar to what you can make at home for breakfast.
J. M.
I really enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice and maple bacon French toast. This makes a great place for brunch.
S. H.
Had two great breakfasts here on a recent visit to Canberra. Highly recommended.
J. C.
Great food, service was a bit slow but understandably for a packed cafe. Definitely worth while
R. P.
Great service and open on public holidays and late (ish) on weekends which is a rarity in Canberra (usually all cafes close at 3PM)
G. W.
Always good food and excellent coffee. We come back regularly.
P. C.
Very good coffee. Great muffins but staff need to smile on in a while.
Z. M.
Great cafe, awesome creative food with lovely coffee and service- a great dining experience and an obvious favourite with locals.
B. B.
Best coffee in Canberra and wonderful staff.
S. M.
Another solid little Canberra suburb café - one of the originals. The bacon here is to die for. Highly recommend it.
M. H.
Good coffee and some great options on the menu. A good place to catch informally with friends.
L. H.
Right in the heart of Manuka. Coffee, food and staff all very good. Usually very busy though, and noisy.
t. g.
Good cafe, but should deal in cash.
W. T.
Quite expensive but the food and drinks are amazing which makes the price much more understandable and is always the right temperature so you do not need to worry about being to cold or hot.
J. F. D. T.

Best breakfast in Manuka

Meal was good - tends to be very nloisy with lunch time.
However - CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS. The meal and drinks for four came to $140 which is reasonable for Canberra.
BUT - when I checked my AMEX slip I got slugged $150.00. Not a bad way to earn a tip. Not happy with this approach. May have been a mistake but still not good enough
