Staffs were very professional and friendly. Location was great! The hotel has a museum tour, was very informative. All the arts on the wall attracts us a lot. The restaurant in the hotel has amazing food too. Would go back to this hotel if we travel to Hobart again

My family ended up staying for a week at Henry Jones. Our travel plans changed due to personal circumstances and the Henry Jones staff were at all times exceptionally accomodating and understanding to make sure we were looked after. The hotel has great charm from both the historical and art perspective and is very well located. Also worth noting the very high quality of the food at Landscape and on the room service menu.

This might have been the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in my life. Everything was clean and we’ll cared for. The vibe and art was incredible

Beautiful hotel in superb location. Loved my harbour view room and all the artworks throughout the hotel. Beautiful fixtures, smelt wonderful (yes really!); staff very friendly, helpful and professional. Would definitely stay again

LOVE this hotel. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay so special and personalised. Loved the room, the details and dinner at Landscape was exquisite! Wish we stayed an extra night. Will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Hobart!

For a family of 3 who have spent both the last 2 Christmas holidays here, I can say there perhaps is no better spot if you like to explore the most beautiful precinct of Hobart on foot. Having said that, I am inclined to try something else in the my next visit due to one very unpleasant experience with the floor manager on our last evening. Apart from that, the views of the waterfront along with all the beautiful eateries around, access to the Salamanca area and most of the CBD makes this a great choice. The biggest shout out goes to Matt and the team at the IXL Long Bar who not only make some of the best cocktails in all of Aus, their body language and demeanor always makes me feel very welcome. If you are in on a Friday and Saturday do not miss the live Jazz band in the late afternoon. Also remember to book a complimentary art tour at the concierge which explores the history of the IXL jam factory and the beautiful art installations across the hotel. A total of 12 days of stay across 2 trips and the only reason I have removed a star is due to the rather insensitive behaviour of one specific floor manager on the last evening of our recent stay. I was later told she is new in her role but that does not excuse the inexplicable nature of the incident. It is such a shame that our trip ended on a sour note. I am contemplating giving Henry Jones a miss in my next trip due to this, but will come say hello to the guys at the bar.

10/10 recommend staying at this hotel if you are travelling to Hobart. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and the staff are all fantastic. The art and history tour is a must - and it's free for guests! Probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.

Beautiful rooms, amazing service, and a great view.
The Henry Jones is close enough to the highway to be convenient, but far enough away to avoid most Highway noise.
Their valet service was great.
All around 10/10
I have no complaints
Would definately stay there again

Great hotel in the perfect location to walk everywhere around Hobart. The old feel of the hotel with modern upgrades was the perfect way to kick off our holidays!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and loved our stay. It's a great location, rooms were lovely and the staff were amazing. The staff in particular made our stay here very special. Would definitely recommend.

Loved this place... fantastic vibe, decor, artwork, staff super helpful. Reminded me of QT in Sydney. Highly recommended!!

They make great cocktails in the Long Bar. They also do art tours of all the art works that are on display throughout the Hotel.

History building, love ambiance of restaurant. Rooms high class accommodation. Excellent all round, high standard for tourism.

I recently sent my parents here for a 2 night stay as a surprise for my mums 60th birthday. I stayed here before and know how stunning the hotel is so I wanted to do something special. What made it special for her was how amazing all the staff were. She felt like royalty and will never forget this birthday! So thank you to everyone who made her feel like a million dollars.

Fantastic location...trendy & up market decor...clean, tidy & value for money! We had a great time 👍

Such wonderful accomodation. The complimentary tours add to the experience and enrich your stay.

Dusty rooms. Not due to the fact that they were unclean - they were in fact quite clean. It was due to the old nature of the building with exposed wooden beams... it means there is a lot of latent dust sitting in hard to reach places. In any case, it was unpleasant for sleeping especially if you are sensitive to dust or have allergies.
Rooms are very dark and the overall decor is very dated.
Not as good as we had hoped or were expecting given the price.
Sorry.

We had our wedding reception in the Jones & Co room. Karen was an exceptional events co-ordinator. We felt so looked after all our guests were accommodated and the service provided from the hotel accommodation can’t be faulted the staff are amazing all our needs were met, and we had a fantastic night thank you for giving us our special day.

So blown away by Henry Jones Art Hotel. Such a cool place to stay. Had the good fortune to stay for my wife’s birthday in the Henry Jones Suite and it is spectacular. A beautiful room that was the former boardroom for IXL owner Henry Jones. Credit to everyone associated with the place from the design concept and the remodeling of the building to the day to day running of the establishment. A great mix of classy with casual vibe, the staff where excellent and very accommodating.
Could not have been more impressed.
We will be back!

I have to agree that it's a bit pricey, however this place is extremely unique, quaint, full of character, and centrally located. You really don't need a car until you are ready to explore the surrounding countryside. We had a studio loft this trip and while it was lovely, would probably opt for a different room if we come again. It's just a personal opinion, but we got tired of going up and down the stairs especially since the bathroom was on the bottom level. This might not be an issue with other folks. Breakfast was good, well prepared, fresh and plentiful. One tip is to get it included with your room when you book as it is fairly expensive on a day to day basis. The staff was extremely helpful and willing to help in anyway. Do take the art tour they offer. It was very nice. Highly recommend especially for special occasions.

Staying at Henry Jones has made me wish I could reset all my previous reviews relative to a new standard! Quite simply this was the single best hotel experience we have ever enjoyed.
We splurged on the Oriental Suite for our 25th anniversary & it was just amazing. The overflow spa is the best bath I have ever had & then you add in the view over the docks area of Hobart. At least the equal most comfortable bed I have ever slept in & the double show was awesome (great water pressure etc.).
All the staff (concierges, restaurants, bars etc.) were wonderful, friendly & super helpful. We also love the art/history tour & enjoyed chatting with the host (pretty sure he was called Greg).
All in all the best experience ever & we almost cried to have to leave. Thanks Henry Jones for making our 25th anniversary so special.

Stayed here with my girlfriend. Beautiful accommodation. Well looked after by friendly staff and perfect for the tourist. Highly recommend Hobart brewing co nearby, the downstairs cocktail bar - v v good, checking out Frank for dinner a short walk away or trying to get into Templo. Only recommendation is a pillow menu for this quality of place. Otherwise unreal.

Don’t judge the book by its cover, it seems nothing special outside, but the gallery and the story inside are gorgeous!

Beautiful hotel with attention to little details. Loved the spa suite. Water views are lovely. All staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Victoria.

Excellent Quality Accommodation Artfully Delivered. I've had the privilege of staying in many very nice hotels across the world but none quite like the Henry Jones. The hotel is described as boutique but that implies a degree of snootiness that does the professional, friendly, helpful, warm staff a great disservice. They couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly, the food was very enjoyable and the bar a great place to relax. The outstanding experience however was the fascinating hotel and art tour, delivered by one of the team (Greg I think) who was incredibly knowledgeable and provided what was a fantastic insight into the history of the hotel, of Henry Jones and of the art that decorates the hotel. This combined with the genealogical background search linking previous 'guests' to the island (at Crown's pleasure!) really capped off a great experience that demands a return visit sometime soon.

Best restaurant my partner and I have eaten at. Service was outstanding and the food fantastic. Highlight of our trip to Hobart.
Landscape Restaurant book before flying in

Just stopped to get a drink before dinner. The wine bar is nice and offers a good variety. The restaurant is very inviting as a space, so we went elsewhere.

Very attentive staff, lovely presented rooms and interesting artwork throughout the hotel. It was an enjoyable stay. We stayed in one of the lofts, which are good but be aware they may heat up quickly and need the air-conditioners on full time (there are 2 fitted, in a relatively small single room loft, which gives some indication). The do the job well in keeping the room cool, it's just a note about heat build up due to the style of the room. The surrounding restaurants and shops are all lovely, but tourist-centric as expected. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Hobart Port, in The Henry Jones hotel.

We both enjoyed our weekend stay in this iconic establishment. Bright and welcoming staff at the front desk. In the mornings we were served a healthy breakfast by Pavi our attentive waitress.
Lots of ambience here with alot of the original timber beems still in place.
Highly recommended.

I've stayed in quite a few hotels on business trips and holidays and the concierge at this hotel has the best customer service I've experienced. The location is great and the rooms are perfect if you're interested in art or a nice glass of red wine in a spa bath over looking the harbour. Would stay again for a business trip or a romantic weekend getaway.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Hobart. The rooms are each unique and, I think, incredibly beautiful in their practical design and furnishings. The staff were absolutely amazing. My parents arrived several days earlier than myself. They are not seasoned travellers and could not have been more pleased with the efforts the staff went to in order to make them feel comfortable and happy. Thanks so much.

Staying in the spa room, it was very good.
The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this establishment enough.

My husband and I recently had a lovely stay here after completing the 3 Capes Track. The check-in was extremely warm and friendly. Our room was beautiful with a great view and a super comfortable bed. We also had a fun visit to the bar where the knowledgeable bartenders recommended fantastic spirits. Highly recommend!
P. F.
Room was nice, even if our view was of a warehouse loading dock. Our flight was at 8pm and they were kind enough to let us have the room until 5pm, at no extra fee. I would definitely stay here again next time I travel to Hobart.

Superb
I've stayed in a loft room and a deluxe room and both are equally great. If you travel a lot and are a bit over typical hotel rooms, book a loft. It presents more like like a mini-apartment than a hotel room and as such has a more homely feel.
On the other hand, the deluxe room is wonderful with a beautiful bathroom and spa bath.
The staff are professional and attentive, the hotel and facilities immaculate, and there is a beautifully stocked bar downstairs with very knowledgeable staff.
I cannot recommend this hotel more highly and will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful hotel. I cannot fault it in any way. Our room was incredible, it was clean and spacious. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The location is perfect - close to everywhere we needed to go. I can’t wait to go back.
C. W.
A unique hotel experience and great historic preservation / adaptation project. Would have loved to join the curator's art tour but we ran out of time. Hotel staff are helpful and friendly, but could use a more personal touch.
J. Z.
Generally pretty nice, the staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious, clean, and modern, a few odd decorating choices. Great curation of local artists on the walls throughout. Only complaint was the heating system didn't work well so the room could be cold, our neighbors in the next room partied every night till midnight or later, and or room keys would stop working and we'd have to get new ones every day. The coffee and tea as their cafe was bad, so skip that.
M. M.
Amazing stay - can't wait to come back after COVID.
R. M.
Absolutely smashing. First and foremost is the wonderful staff. From go to whoa they were friendly and helpful. It’s in a great location and we walked all over Hobart from there. The rooms and facilities are excellent- the exception being the gym which was very very limited. Would recommend to anyone who is in Hobart to stay here.
F. M.
Service is not dead! What an establishment... can’t fault their service and facilities. Everything from the turn down service in the evening with the chocolates to the complimentary valet parking... faultless. And staff are very friendly, bravo. Will definitely never stay anywhere else in Hobart. And special thanks to Michael and Hamish on the front desk.
G. R.
Noisy. Not enough sound-proof windows with the people drinking outside. But quite good breakfast by kind people. Interesting gallery inside. Restaurant food is good but waiters are not clean (taking butter with hands to serve you). So not sure to come again even if well located.
S. M.
Loved the breakfast included and the whole hotel. Wonderful art and history tour included by very knowledgeable guide. Polite and friendly staff. Amazing building and artworks, convict shaped sandstone and original jam factory. First original art hotel.
j. s.
Rustic classy chic my first time here but next time in Hobart this is my 1st choise staff great friendly attentive. Free valet parking great service there. Food and drinks good but so are the prices .
But there are plenty of other eateries all around.
Rooms are soooooo good it's hard to leave in the mornings but great to come back to.
If you try it you will return. I shall and soon.
P. C.
My stay here was most enjoyable, staying here is almost like staying in the midst of an art gallery. There are prices of art everywhere and it gives you the feeling of going back in time into the history of the building and its surroundings.
I would highly recommend staying in one of the lofts, with their duplex rooms.
The waterfront right outside the hotel provides for fantastic views and the famous Salamanca markets is just an easy stroll away. There are quite a few choices of restaurants around the hotel providing a good variety of cuisine. All in all this was a very unique and memorable experience.
L. A.
Absolutely fantastic. Rooms, reception, breakfast, history, everything perfect. Michael on reception, very professional. Henry in breakfast cafe, is gold. Friendly, professional and knows his City well. Gave us so much information so we could see and go to places we never would have found. He is a real asset to your hotel. Never let him go. We will definitely be back and have recommend friends to pay a visit.

I haven’t stayed here but just did the fabulous history & art tour of the hotel with their historian, Greg. This is a daily tour and should be a compulsory activity for any visitor to Hobart. Greg had us spellbound with the sweet & colourful history of the hotel & the early days of Van Diemen’s Land. The hotel is filled with art, including an extensive collection of John Glovers. This tour is a feast for the senses, do yourself a favour and go 😃
J. S.
Very warm welcome by very attentive staff. This hotel is simply amazing. The history is mind blowing and the careful conversion into a classy upmarket hotel is simply breathtaking. Highly recommend this hotel. The amazing staff are a bonus.

GORGEOUS HOTEL ON THE SITE OF AN OLD JAM FACTORY
Henry Jones Art Hotel is a very high end complex with gorgeous rooms filled with art work. Its not cheap so think of it as treat rather than just somewhere to stay in Hobart.
Restaurant in the downstairs area is very good.
I. T.
5 star hotel. Wonderful luxuries provided such as a spa, amenities, slippers, everything as expected. The place is decorated with a number of art pieces, making your stay feel more like a museum than hotel. Rooms are spacious, cozy and plush, making it ideal for the special occasion. Includes valet parking.
V. M.
Walls are paper thin. Staff are friendly and helpful. Insulation or something to stop the noise coming in from adjoining rooms would be good. Good coffee. Good gym. Heating system works well.
A. H.
I don't know If I can review fairly, especially that I am just so enthralled with how they were able to maintain the original structures of the cannery and incorporate it to make it modern. One of the reason why I love Hobart was because of this Hotel. Took me a bit of time before I got myself checked in, tolerable delay; but I also got free service charge on my room service because the food I originally ordered was not available.

We have just had the pleasure of staying at The Henry Jones Art Hotel. The hotel itself is stunning and unique, it was beautiful to see the hotel was incorporated into the original IXL Jam Factory. All of the staff provided exceptional service and went above and beyond to help in any way. The cafe and restaurants on site had delicious meals, were also in a great location to sample other close by restaurants.
T. S.
Excellent accommodation and both restaurants have good menus. Avoid main restaurant if they are hosting a private party as insufficient staff for public and private service. Perfect location to take in all the Hobart vibe.
B. B.
It was everything that was promised, a special occassion for us. The bar service was perfect, cocktails and range of beers excellent. The dining experience was superb, with very attentive wait staff. Wandering through the historic Aussie icon of IXL was fun and enjoying the art everywhere, certainly made this hotel value for money.

Beautifully renovated dock area. Rooms are beautiful and spacious overlooking the wharf of Hobart. It's just a very short stroll to Salamanca or the city. The Long Bar makes some delicious drinks. Would highly recommend it.
L. F.
Dinner at Landscape was a wonderful experience. Hanging on the walls was a collection of original John Glover paintings to gaze upon as you dined. The food was excellent, meat cooked on an asador picked up the flavour of the wood. Service was also exceptional. Yes it was pricey but it was worth it.
I. M.
Always a great venue for a conference. Room was setup up thoughtfully with many screens so everyone could see, and the tea/coffer facilities much better than you might expect (although the cup sizes were a little small ).
G. C.
Really beautiful hotel overlooking the harbour in Hobart. It was only a short visit, but was very comfortable and very welcome after 27 hours of traveling from Europe. The only minor gripe, which I haven't marked them down for, is that check out is 10am and check-in is 2pm. We arrived in Hobart after over a day of being on planes, extremely tired and not exactly fresh, but there was no way to get the room before 2pm. With such an early check out, it would have been nice if they could have turned around the rooms a bit faster for a very weary traveller!
E. D.
Amazing breakfast complemented with great service. Beautiful elegant room overlooking the waterfront. Front house staff
very friendly and helpful. We will be back.
F. L.
The Henry Jones is everything an amazing hotel is supposed to be - historic, atmospheric, luxurious, comfortable and visually stunning. The staff are wonderful, friendly and so helpful and truly do anticipate and cater for every need. We loved it.
S. E.
Lovely room great bed and bathroom helpful staff. Being on the waterside means more noise than normal but hey part of the character of the place. Recommended.
K. O.
One of the finest boutique hotels in Hobart. The long bar is excellent hang with plenty of wines, spirits and cocktails to choose from.
The accommodation is classy beyond measure with the added joy of waking up to the docks in the morning.
J. K.
Every aspect of this place is terrific. Highly recommended.
A. O.
Hotel is small, comfortable and welcoming. A good place to spend a weekend. Right on the Hobart Waterfront, so very handy to attractions. Long Bar has great cocktails but Jam Packed cafe is disappointing and, because Henry's restaurant is closed renovation, it let's the hotel down.
A. C.
We walked in without any booking and Chris did a fabulous job by squeezing us into the system during Dark Mofo. The service is great here and I can highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a hotel in Hobart with a personal touch.
G. W.
Celebrated a friend's birthday here and loved the included breakfast. The rooms are gorgeous and the staff so friendly. I can see why it's pricey as location, atmosphere, comfort, uniqueness, and service are all spot on.
J. M.
Any evening is a great opportunity to enjoy a relaxing bar with an excellent variety of drinks & bar food, served by friendly competent staff and.. my favourite session is Thursday when Randal Muir "The Piano Man" attends between 5:30 & 8:30pm (1730- 2030) Wow!!!
H. K.
Great location and really nice atmosphere
B. M.
Great location with awesome bar staff
R. I.
Wow! My work spoiled me and book a room here and it's set new expectations! Service was next to none, staff went out of their way to help. Rooms well appointed and thought out.
G. B.
Lovely hotel, great location, friendly staff. Factory layout meant we could hear a lot of noise coming through from the atrium area and hallway/stairs. Would definitely stay again despite that.
E. T.
We went for a few cocktails at the bar before heading out to dinner. The cocktails were great but as we were a big group we had to sit in the foyer instead of the bar. The live music was great and the bartenders had great recommendations on Tasmanian alcohol.
